Not All Stories
When Milton Grimm found a new story titled “Candy Land” he didn’t expect it to lead to connecting with another world and then suddenly accepting some new students who don’t seem to have the slightest idea to how destiny’s work.
Not All Stories Need Destiny, Some are Fine Without
The world of Candy Land is similar to Wonderland in the way that it's a completely separate dimension to EAH, but is more like Monster High in the fact that no one has a clue about the other world (besides Cupid of course).
In Candy Land, the world runs fluidly, continuing on with no stops and everything is just how it is. The Candies live their lives with no expectations of specific events happening in any type of order, which is important for them because in terms of their "story" it's always changing.
In the original story, Lord Licorice may have been the villain and there was a cast of characters who helped the Candy kids save King Kandy and Candy Land, but that was the past. Since then, there've been many instances of Fairy Queen Lolly needing to call upon the Candy kids to help Candy Land in crisis, but each time has been completely different and even the cast of characters who help have completely changed from time to time.
The current generation doesn't have any recollection of the Gingerbread Tree and their family, which is currently Count Ginger and his family, or the fact that Licorice and the original Mint family joined ages ago under the Licorice name and now the current Mint family is just a small distance branch of the original, or the fact that before Lolly became Queen of the Fairies, her ancestors were a part of the royal family.
These points in history were only possible because there was no belief in imitating their original story. The people of Candy Land don't even acknowledge that old legend as fact anyway, so following it isn't something they would imagine outside of maybe kids playing pretend. So there's no reason for kids to take after their parents unless they want to, and there's no outside force or pressure that could make them. Even the suggestion of the loss of free will and choice would be horrifying to the Candies.
But they're unaware of this new dimension and they intend to at least give it all a chance before making a decision. They'll first see how this world works and go from there.

Being parents to energetic twins is tough. But being parents and visiting the in-laws is another form of torture. There is only limited privacy in his own home as it is, but at his in-law's house, this gets bumped up to no alone time at all.
