*600 Followers Challenge*
Hi everyone!
Based off the title, I am sure that you can all tell that this is meant in celebration of reaching 600 followers (which is soon). But also since my birthday is coming up in October, I thought why not.
If you would like to participate then why not, but I decide to spice things up and make it a get inspire type of challenge. Below I will have a list of song’s I happen to like or that have inspired me, wanted to see what was other people’s take on those same songs.
Tumblr media
RULES:
Any genre, pairing/ship, with appropriate warnings
fluff, romance, bromance, platonic, angst, smut are all good!
Underage, dub/non-con, are a no go. (Makes me uncomfy to read really)
Canon or AU timeline
Reader inserts, OC’s, canon or fanon, etc.
Can be moodboards, art, or any medium that you were inspired to make
All are welcome
Plus size, petite, Latinx, BIPOC characters encouraged! (It would make this little Latina so happy to see more fics)
Stories should be in English but you can pepper in other languages to your heart’s content
Use the “read more” button, makes things easier for everyone
You don’t need to follow me to participate
Send me an ask, comment, or DM me the song(s)/character(s) you’re picking!
Tag the work using #ray’s 600 or #hey_ray and it would probably be good to message me in case Tumblr doesn’t notify me
You can participate as many times as you want but a song can only be chosen three times. (might make exceptions)
I’ll either make another post as the Masterlist or this one, (will decide later)
The deadline is whenever you feel like it’s ready, but I would love to see some by the end of October if possible.
Here are our song choices: (will definitely come and more songs later)
Donde estarás cariño mio - Richie e poveri
Already Mine - Us the Duo
A Soulmate Who Wasn’t Meant to be - Jess Benko

[TASK 070: JEWISH]
In celebration of Hanukkah! There’s a masterlist below compiled of over 600+ Jewish faceclaims categorised by gender with their occupation and ethnicity denoted if there was a reliable source. If you want an extra challenge use random.org to pick a random number! Of course everything listed below are just suggestions and you can pick whichever character or whichever project you desire.
Any questions can be sent here and all tutorials have been linked below the cut for ease of access! REMEMBER to tag your resources with #TASKSWEEKLY and we will reblog them onto the main! This task can be tagged with whatever you want but if you want us to see it please be sure that our tag is the first five tags, @ mention us or send us a messaging linking us to your post!
THE TASK - scroll down for FC’s!
STEP 1: Decide on a FC you wish to create resources for! You can always do more than one but who are you starting with? There are links to masterlists you can use in order to find them and if you want help, just send us a message and we can pick one for you at random!
STEP 2: Pick what you want to create! You can obviously do more than one thing, but what do you want to start off with? Screencaps, RP icons, GIF packs, masterlists, PNG’s, fancasts, alternative FC’s - LITERALLY anything you desire!
STEP 3: Look back on tasks that we have created previously for tutorials on the thing you are creating unless you have whatever it is you are doing mastered - then of course feel free to just get on and do it. :)
STEP 4: Upload and tag with #TASKSWEEKLY! If you didn’t use your own screencaps/images make sure to credit where you got them from as we will not reblog packs which do not credit caps or original gifs from the original maker.
THINGS YOU CAN MAKE FOR THIS TASK -  examples are linked!
Stumped for ideas? Maybe make a masterlist or graphic of your favourite faceclaims. A masterlist of names. Plot ideas or screencaps from a music video preformed by an artist. Masterlist of quotes and lyrics that can be used for starters, thread titles or tags. Guides on culture and customs.
Screencaps
RP icons [of all sizes]
Gif Pack [maybe gif icons if you wish]
PNG packs
Manips
Dash Icons
Character Aesthetics
PSD’s
XCF’s
Graphic Templates - can be chara header, promo, border or background PSD’s!

Funko Pop!
Marvel Masterlist
Summary: Not everyone can be as good as these guys.
Pairing: Tony Stark x Reader, Avengers x Reader (Platonic)
Warnings: Language (Said in Steve's voice), and fluff (A must need)
Request: @mcutrash said: Tony x reader fic please! With Avengers x reader (platonic) Okay so in the MCU - regular people idolize the Avengers! So naturally there's superhero merch even in the Marvel universe. Now, what if, the team (aside from Tony - who has known about the merch for awhile) has no clue about any of this and they suddenly come across merch of themselves because the reader, who is also an Avenger, is a collector and Tony has been helping them build their collection 😂
A/N:  OMG YES! XD this is going to be fantastic!! And I can always count on you requesting Tony, or Phil, or Scott XD Also the time line might be a little off lol
Tumblr media
♥♥
You wandered into the lab where your boyfriend Tony was working away on tweaking his Iron Man suit. Mindlessly you sat on the table that he was working as looking through your phone. “What’s up sweetheart?” Tony asked setting down one of his gauntlets and wheeled over to you where he placed his hands on your legs.
Setting the tablet down, you looked at him with a smile. “You do realize, just how much they are asking for a Nick Fury pop?”
Tony smirked. He knew all too well, but figured he would play a little dumb due to the fact that your birthday was coming up. “Not a clue.”
“I just found one on ebay, they want over 600 dollars.”
Tony took a mental note, “That much for the pirate director?”
You laughed as you ran your hand through his hair. “Wanna know how much one of you without the mask is?”
“Oh do tell.”
“Last one I saw they were asking 737 dollars.”
Tony stood up and wrapped his arms around you, “I’m worth more that Fury?”
You looked up into his sparkling brown eyes, “Don’t let that get to your head. There’s one of me in just normal clothes, not my outfit for just under 700.”
“So, I’m worth more than you?” He cracked a full smile.
You placed your hands on his chest and gave him a slight push. “See there’s that ego of yours.” You laughed and gave him a kiss. “I’m going to go and see what else I can find. Dinner tonight?”
“Sure, you pick the place.”
♥♥
The next day went about the same. Granted it was your birthday, you spent breakfast with your boyfriend, and then Natasha insisted that she and Clint take you out for lunch. The rest of the day was spent with Rhodey and Steve. Once you were back to the tower, you knew that there was something up, as JARVIS told you that Tony wanted to see you in his lab.
Excusing yourself from Steve and Rhodey you made your way to Tony’s lab where he was just turning off the lights. “There’s my birthday girl.” Tony said walking over and placing a soft kiss on your lips. “Ready to be awed?”
You laughed as you shook your head. “Just what are you up too?”
He placed his hand on your lower back and started to lead you back to the common area. “You’ll see.”
As the two of you made your way towards the darkened common area, suddenly the lights came on and everyone yelled surprise! You smiled as you saw a huge mound of gifts on the table. Most of them were the same size, a couple bigger. After you gave everyone a hug, thanked Thor for coming from Asgard; Phil, Fury, and Rhodey as well and drinks were handed out. You started opening presents. First with Natasha’s and everyone else’s. But it hardly made a dent in the pile that was on the table.
Looking at the pile you couldn’t believe it. “The rest are from, Stark.” Natasha said leaning back on the couch, taking a drink from her beer.
Taking the first box, you slowly started to unwrap it. As soon as you pulled the familiar box out you squeeled. It was a Ride Pop of Phil and Lola. “Seriously! Oh my God this is awesome!” You had a huge smile on your face as you looked down at the box.
“What is that?” Thor asked looking at the box.
“It’s a Funko Ride Pop.” You answered.
“Is that me and Lola?” Phil asked as you handed him the box.
Nodding, you answered. “Yup.”
“The likeness is uncanny.” Rhodey laughed.
Thor frowned. “Why would they make a child’s toy that resembled Son of Coul?”
“You just wait, Point Break.” Tony laughed as he handed you another present.
Taking the neatly wrapped box you started to unwrap it. Soon as you did you almost screamed. It was the only you had been talking to him about earlier. A Funko Pop of Nick Fury.  “This is fucking awesome!”
Natasha almost spat out her beer. “Look Fury, they made one of you!”
You started to laugh as you passed the box to him, “Almost as handsome too.” You giggled.
“I don’t see the resemblance at all.” Fury said looking at the Pop figure of himself.
“Open the next one, I would like to see.” Thor said handing you another wrapped box.
Taking the box from the God of Thunder, you quickly took a drink of your beer before opening it. As you looked down at the box you smiled. It was another Funko Pop, but this time Hulk.
“I look nothing like that!” Bruce commented over your shoulder.
You turned and passed him the box to look at, “Oh c’mon, all green and muscles. Sure you do.”
With the next box, Tony had gotten you the pop of Hawkeye.  And as soon as you passed it for Clint to look at he frowned, “Do I seriously look like this?” He asked as Natasha was laughing.
“With the purple, yeap.” She laughed.
The next gift from Tony was a pop of Thor. You laughed as you passed it to a very confused Thor.
“I don’t understand, I look nothing like this child’s toy.” He said examining the box.
“On the contrary there,” Rhodey spoke. “It looks a lot like you.”
The next one was that of none other than Captain America.
“Awe, Steve they even celebrated your 75 years of being a capcile.” You laughed as you handed it to the man out of time.
“What’s with the wings on the helmet?” Steve asked raising an eyebrow.
Tony laughed, “I’d more question why they didn’t go full spangley outfit for you.”
There was three more boxes on the table, so you grabbed another one. As you were unwrapping the box you knew that all eyes were on you to see who you got next. Turned out to be Natasha – Black Widow. You were beyond happy as Natasha leaned forward to look at the box.
Handing it to her she spoke, “I am even sexy as a pop!”
“You’re drunk.” Clint commented.
“No, you’re just jealous cause I look amazing as a pop and you don’t.” Natasha laughed.
Steve looked at the pop. “Why are you holding my shield?”
“Okay only two left.” Fury stated as he handed you another box. “Let’s see who’s next.”
As you pulled off the wrapping paper, you were in shock. You had been looking for this one. Iron Patriot.
“I always hated that name.” Tony commented as he watched you. He started to smile as he seen how happy you were that your collection had grown.
“Why are my eyes white?” Rhodey asked looking at the box.
“Alright, one left!” Phil commented as he handed you the last box.
Slowly you unwrapped the last box. You were in awe, as it was the one you again had been talking to Tony about the day before. The Unmasked Iron Man.  Jumping up you wrapped your arms around him and gave him a big kiss. “Thank-you.” You whispered as you hugged him tighter.
“They got the armour all wrong.” Rhodey said looking down at the pop figure of Iron Patriot.
“I’m impressed on how well they did Lola.” Phil said setting the Ride Pop down on the table.
Thor looked at everyone’s. “What is the point of these?”
Turning in Tony’s arms, you faced the group as you spoke to Thor. “We’re superheroes, and people love merchandise of us. And people like me love to collect them. I think they are cute and I mean, who else can say they have a Funko Pop of themselves out there in the world? Some of them are rare. Like the one you’re holding of yourself, Fury. That one can fetch up to six hundred dollars.”
Fury raised an eyebrow, “Wow.” He said setting it down.
“I still say I look cute.” Natasha laughed.
“I still don’t understand the wings.” Steve laughed.
Tony leaned over your shoulder. “It still looks just like you.”
“The one that doesn’t look like their respective person, is mine. There is no way I look like that!” Thor stated.
“Yeah, you do.” Phil laughed.
Bruce looked down at the Iron Man one, “Any one going to comment on Tony’s?”
“What?” Tony asked, “I’m a sexy beast in real life and in pop.”
The whole room moaned as you turned and whispered in his ear.
“Alright, party’s over.” Tony said as he picked you up in his arms.”
Have your own Marvel request? Shoot me an ask!

Come Back, Little Sheba (1952)
Tumblr media
Directed by Daniel Mann
While studying theatre years ago, one of our texts was Lee Strasberg’s A Dream of Passion. In the book, he singles out both Maureen Stapleton in Airport (1970) and Melinda Dillon in Absence of Malice (1982) for evoking genuine pathos. In Come Back, Little Sheba, Shirley Booth makes the same impression and maintains it for the entire film. As Lola Delaney, Booth gives us one of the great character portraits of the movies. She had already won a Tony Award for playing the role on Broadway, and would win a slew more for the film. After winning the Oscar, she told the press she’d had an unfair advantage over her competitors: since she’d played the role over 600 times on Broadway, and had had lots of practise.
William Inge’s play (and Ketti Frings’ screenplay) is about Lola and ‘Doc’ Delaney (Burt Lancaster), a middle-aged couple whose lives have been defined by what they’ve lost - the unborn child that forced them into marriage and then died, the medical career that he abandoned, and their pet dog, Sheba. Lola dotes on her husband - she calls him “daddy” and constantly fusses over him with an almost childlike need for his approbation or affection. Doc is a recovering alcoholic - quiet and polite, but reserved and emotionally remote. For some extra money, the Delaneys take in a boarder, a young college student, Marie (Terry Moore), who, in typical theatrical fashion, inadvertently stirs things up.
The director, Daniel Mann, was regarded as one of Broadway’s top directors because of his knack for bringing out an actor’s best. It was Hal Wallis, the film’s producer, who suggested Mann travel to Hollywood and make his film directing début with Come Back, Little Sheba. It’s likely that Mann was consulted about how the play was going to be ‘opened up’. Hollywood has always had a strange ‘rule’ about the need to ‘open up’ a play, or disguise its stage origins, as much as possible. Sometimes, the changes made to the piece aren’t very good, thereby robbing the film of whatever impact it had in the theatre. Paramount had ordered that the film contain a couple of scenes away from the Delaneys’ house at the least. This was carried out, obviously with great care, because the scenes are very effective. Most of the time is still spent inside the Delaneys’ house - we only leave it when they do. The first outing is to attend Doc’s Alcoholics Anonymous meeting (which, incidentally, was the first time AA was depicted onscreen). Four members celebrate ‘birthdays’ at the meeting, including Doc, who’s one - he’s been sober for a year now. There’s something very moving about each of the four as they receive their cake, blow out their candles and say a few words of thanks. The other time we leave the house is, again, when they’ve both left it to go to hospital. It’s very clear that these scenes have been carefully considered. Leaving the house could be considered a fatal error, as the play’s whole point is that Lola and Doc are stuck permanently together. These external scenes, though, keep the two of them together and, surprisingly, adds something further. At the AA meeting, the Delaneys are surrounded by other Delaney types. And in the hospital’s ‘drunk tank’, we can see other spouses keeping a bedside vigil. This places the Delaneys into our world, making them much less isolated than in Inge’s play. The Delaney house is the only world in the play - the rest of humanity is only a symbol in the form of Marie. And while we still are aware that the Delaneys are isolated, the film shows that they hold no monopoly on unhappiness. They’re not so cut off as to be worse off than anyone else. We don’t know who
No one is better off, or a better person - this is just how things are. It’s very smart that Mann widens the scope of the whole piece - he’s refashioned the environment he created for Broadway into an environment that actually includes the audience.
When Paramount purchased the play’s film rights, the studio stipulated that at least one of the film’s two leads be played by an established star - a movie about a sad middle-aged couple is, surprisingly, not a big draw card to lure crowds in. The studio first approached Bette Davis to play Lola, but she thought too highly of Booth’s work in the play that she turned it down. (Can anyone think of any other actress of the 1950s who’d even consider playing an untidy, unhappy, middle-aged woman?) Booth was subsequently hired, and would be making her film début at the age of 54. So the hunt began for a star to play Doc. Humphrey Bogart, who’d just won his Oscar for The African Queen (1951), yearned to play the part and approached Paramount more than once, but was turned down every time. Burt Lancaster also wanted the part, even though he was only in his thirties and much too physically fit to play a drunk. But Paramount hired Lancaster anyway, providing make-up to age him and a weighted girdle to give him both a paunch and a stoop. Why these aids were used is understandable, and using them is always advantageous - by putting you into a specific physical state, much of the work is done for you. But Lancaster doesn’t allow his gear to help - he’s so focused on ‘acting’ for us that it looks forced. When Doc falls off the wagon, Lancaster is much better because, like most drunks, he pretends he isn’t. Lancaster would have been better off if he’d approached Doc’s aging the same way. Considering his onscreen partner, Lancaster really has no hope. As she admitted, Booth had an elongated timespan to ‘find’ her character. Lola is heavy-footed and ungainly in an unusual way. not clumsy, exactly, but when she walks, her whole body seems to put more effort into it than it requires. One morning, Doc doesn’t have any juice at breakfast time, and just watch her move! She flashes into action and becomes a real dynamo. Her body still moves oddly, but the spontaneity of the moment overpowers her. It’s probably the only time you notice that she’s not feeling unhappy - she’s been given a temporary reprieve from her everyday.
Though steeped in unhappiness, it isn’t an entirely unhappy film. There are glimpses of acceptance, encouragement and, as verbalized by Doc, the need to persevere. When someone is so good in a role, it’s such a pleasure to watch and is a source of great satisfaction for this viewer. Mrs. Delaney certainly inspires our pity, but it’s almost impossible to feel sorry for Shirley Booth, or any other actor, during their moment of triumph.
Remade for TV in 1977 and featuring an eclectic trio: Laurence Olivier, Joanne Woodward, and Carrie Fisher as Marie, all of whom are terrific. Olivier intended to only direct, but he ended up playing Doc after Robert Mitchum needed replacing.
Nerd alert: Booth was the first woman to win the Best Actress Oscar for her film début. Three more women have done it since. Booth is still the only person to win the New York Film Critics, the National Board of Review, the Cannes film festival, and the Oscar for the same film. She would appear in just four more movies, as theatre was always her priority. Her stage work earned her three Tony Awards.

School’s Closed. Forever.
Rural Arena, Wisconsin, population 834, has an aging population and farm consolidations. The elementary school declined to 94 students, and future demographic trends showed further declines. If you were on the Board of Education would you: (1) continue to cut costs and eliminate staff and programs, or (2) close the school and send the students to another school 9 miles away, which will make living in Arena even less desirable for families and businesses? Why? What are the ethics underlying your decision?
Ten-year-old Lola Roske grabbed her backpack and headed to elementary school for the last day of class, the final check on her to-do list before the unstructured bliss of summer.
At drop-off, her mother, Kellie Roske, was determined not to linger. All around her, parents were hugging their children. Teachers were brushing away tears.
“I surprisingly held it together,” said Ms. Roske, who for weeks had steeled herself for an “ugly-cry day.”
Lola was among the last students to attend Arena Community Elementary. After classes let out last Monday, the school was shuttered permanently by the River Valley School District, whose administrators say that unforgiving budgets, a dearth of students and an aging population have made it impossible to keep the school open. For the first time since the 1800s, the village of Arena has no school.
Arena Elementary is the second small rural elementary school in two years to close in the district, nearly 300 square miles of rolling pastures and dairy farms in southwestern Wisconsin. The one in the neighboring village of Lone Rock closed last spring. The district now has just one open public elementary school, in Spring Green, nine miles away.
The same scene is playing out across rural America. Officials in aging communities with stretched budgets are closing small schools and busing children to larger towns. People worry about losing not just their schools but their town’s future — that the closing will prompt the remaining residents and businesses to drift away and leave the place a ghost town.
Rural schools have been closing in waves for decades, but the debate has taken on sharp urgency this year, particularly in communities in the Midwest and New England that have grown smaller and older since the recession. In Wisconsin, Gov. Scott Walker, who is under pressure as he campaigns for a third term, signed a bill in March increasing aid to nearly 150 sparsely populated school districts. A legislative committee in Madison, noting the major shifts in population from rural areas to cities and suburbs in the last decade, has convened public sessions across the state to search for solutions and hear from frustrated parents and administrators.
Arena’s last day capped a long, bitter and personal debate that has divided the rural community far more than any political debate or presidential election has.
Friendships soured. Co-workers took sides. Elected officials held long and emotional hearings. Residents voted on a referendum attempting to raise money and save the school. School board officials faced a recall election, and after the vote last year, one member was told by friends that it might be best if he didn’t show up at the Fourth of July celebration in Lone Rock. He stayed away.
Ms. Roske, a multitasking force of energy who runs both the school’s parent-teacher organization and a nearby horse farm, said she had fought the closure of the Arena school, where both of her daughters were educated.
Administrators say they hardly had any choice.
The numbers are there for anyone to see: The River Valley School District graduated 105 seniors this year, and expects only 66 kindergartners to start school in the fall.
But the fight over Arena Community Elementary is bigger than the school, a small building where moody sconces line the hallways, a nod to Frank Lloyd Wright, whose landmark studio Taliesin is carved into a bluff a 10-minute drive down the road.
Residents worry about what will happen to Arena, population 834, without the school. There isn’t much else on this two-lane stretch of Highway 14: a gas station, a cheese outlet, a cafe called Grandma Mary’s, beloved for its Friday fish fry and beef stroganoff.
But the reality of rural life in the Midwest, school officials say, is that younger people are fleeing. They want Starbucks and Thai restaurants, plentiful jobs and high-speed internet, and when they start families, they want schools with amenities and big, thriving athletic programs.
“In any small community, anywhere in this country, our kids grow up and move away,” said Mark Strozinsky, a River Valley school board member. “They go to college and get a job, but it’s not here, because the opportunity is not here. So who’s left here? Grandma and Grandpa.”
‘It was hell’
Across rural Wisconsin, school administrators facing the same painful trend are having to choose which schools to shutter. Elementary schools in remote areas tend to be the most vulnerable, while those in slightly larger towns or villages survive longer, said Kim Kaukl, the executive director of the Wisconsin Rural Schools Alliance, an advocacy group that represents 145 districts.
“At times it can pit the so-called country folks against the village or city folks,” Mr. Kaukl said. “Over the last 10 years, it’s unfortunately become a way of life.”
Two schools in the Portage school district in central Wisconsin closed several years ago after enrollment declined sharply, the district administrator, Charles Poches, said.
“You can’t have four teachers for 40 kids,” he said.
As the public face of the district, Mr. Poches said that he bore the brunt of residents’ fury at public hearings.
“It was hell,” he said. “We’d have 50 people, some who didn’t even have kids there but had gone to school there. They felt it was part of their community. It was very traumatic.”
Mr. Poches submitted his resignation and plans to depart this month after 11 years.
Over five school years, ending with the spring of 2016, 71 percent of rural districts in the state saw a drop in enrollment, said Sarah Kemp, a school demographer at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
In Potosi, a town in western Wisconsin, Ronald S. Saari, the district administrator, said his district was down to 320 students from kindergarten to 12th grade, all housed in one building. Nothing is left to cut, he said.
“We’re an agricultural area,” Mr. Saari said. “At one point, they tell me, back in the ’80s there were 600-some kids in this district. But the smaller farms have consolidated into bigger company farms. Sometimes you sit back at the end of the day and reflect on how touch-and-go things are from year to year. When is that going to end?”
‘Their schools were their life’
About 15 years ago, the graduating classes in the River Valley School District, then a relatively robust 160 students, began to shrink.
Administrators were faced with several choices, none appealing: Get more money from taxpayers through a referendum; reduce costs by closing elementary schools and eliminating staff positions; or cut more programs, like electives at the middle school and Advanced Placement classes in the high school.
The Arena school, which had 94 students in its final months, tried remaking itself into a public charter school with a STEM focus in 2014, receiving grants of more than $350,000 for new iPads and laptops, teacher training and consultants. But it was not nearly enough. Thomas R. Wermuth, the district administrator, studied enrollment projections and saw that the student shortage was not going to turn around. The state doles out aid partly based on head count; the new law to aid thinly populated districts wouldn’t help River Valley, which has too many students overall to qualify.
“For us, it was a no-win situation,” Mr. Wermuth said. “We didn’t want to start eliminating or reducing the music experiences that our children receive, our art experiences. We’re a pretty bare-bones operation already.”
In November 2016, the district asked residents to vote for an additional $9.3 million in taxes to keep the schools open, at least for several more years.
“We all knew it was going to be close,” said Lisa Kjos, an Arena resident who works for the school district. “For the parents in the village, their school was their life. The elementary school was what kept them going.”
The ballot measure failed by 207 votes.
The referendum opened wounds throughout River Valley, pitting the district’s four villages — Arena, Lone Rock, Plain and Spring Green — against one another. Spring Green, with its largest population and the most central location, stood to gain the most, while Lone Rock and Arena appeared most at risk.
“There were friendships that were split over one opinion or the other,” said Karen Wilkinson, a longtime substitute teacher at Arena. “Some of those have healed. But for some people, I don’t think there’s any going back.”
Jean Alt, a resident of Spring Green for more than 40 years, said her neighbors seemed unmoved by the possibility that a smaller village would lose its school. “They’re of the opinion: ‘If it’s going to save us money, great,’” said Ms. Alt, who taught at the Arena school. “But they’re not seeing the big picture of what’s happening in the other three towns. I got to the point where I didn’t even talk about it with other people. It just wasn’t worth the argument.”
In December 2016, the school board voted to close the elementary schools in Arena and Lone Rock. The village of Plain would keep a school serving preschool and kindergarten.
“I remember thinking, I will pay for this vote,” a board member, Frederic Iausly, said.
“A lot of this was based on feelings that we were picking on one community over another,” Mr. Iausly said. “That had nothing to do with it. It was based on numbers. How do we provide the highest possible education for our kids?”
‘Nobody’s moving here’
At Arena Community Elementary School, teachers were determined to put on a brave face in the final weeks.
Students were cheered by a roller skating party, a field trip to the Wisconsin Dells, and on the last day, an end-of-the-year celebration and potluck.
Melissa Schmid, whose 10-year-old stepson, Evan, completed fourth grade this year, said she wished she had fought harder to keep the Arena school open. When the time comes for her 1-year-old daughter, she and her husband have decided to send her to school in a different district to spare her a long bus ride.
She worries about the value of their house. New people aren’t moving to Arena much anyway. But they definitely won’t now.
“We basically have a bank and a cheese factory,” Ms. Schmid said. “It’s not going to be a growing community.”
Mr. Wermuth, the district administrator, walked through the halls of the Arena school on a recent morning, pointing out the library, the gym, the classrooms where children in Packers sweatshirts huddled over books and puzzles. He is unsure what will become of the building.
There has been talk of turning it into a day care, a food pantry, maybe some sort of town hall. In the meantime, Mr. Wermuth is hopeful it will be used for basketball games and other community activities, just so it won’t be left to stand empty.

Hiii CONGRATS ! Your acc is so pretty. I would like to request a Rosetta 🍂 with James Potter, Sirius Black and Remus Lupin
My name is Laila and I’m 18. I am an INFP. I’m unlabelled cause me is a free bird. My big three is Libra sun, Scorpio moon and Capricorn rising. I have tons of hyper fixations so I’m a really passionate talker and I can ramble quite a bit. In my (small, cause I’m an introvert) friend grp, I’m somehow the mom and the drama queen friend which is a bit confusing but totally accurate. I’m a Mary Macdonald kinnie. I love everything fictional or like dreamy. Movies, music, books... I also love taking and forcing my friends to take tons of personality tests and astrology chart sites. My favorite color is purple which is intense cause my room is purple .I’m a supportive friend and very loyal (I’m an hufflepuff).I’ve never been in love but I have a Scorpio Venus so I know that even if I have daddy issues and trust issues, I’ll love someone with my whole heart and support them. I might be jokingly rude but I’m actually really caring. I hope I didn’t talk too much, I’m used to rambling. So that’s it and tysm <3
