Back in early December, I went to Kurumed (a nutcracker themed café) for lunch with @sapphira-doll. Sapphira told me she would dress up Christmasy, so I did the same.
She had to go home after lunch, so I decided to walk a while and visit the area. For pictures of the café and walk, see my Instagram post.

Happy International Lolita Day!
I spent this weekend at Anime Frontier, it was great to see I wasn’t the only Lolita there that weekend. I wore the print Fluffy Kittens by Royal Princess Alice. 🐱🎀💓💖💕

Social media has really been so unnecessarily exhausting lately, especially for those of us in the EGL community. I don’t know if many of you have seen, but there’s a movement predominantly on Twitter and TikTok against EGL fashion. Though it’s almost entirely led by underage, uninformed people, there’s power in numbers and when you get a bunch of uneducated people clamoring about the same thing, people will listen to them. As a result, EGL content creators and lifestyles have been being bullied, harassed, doxxed, and more.
What these people are claiming is that EGL, specifically sweet Lolita fashion, is non-Japanese (mostly white) women acting out racist caricatures and stereotypes of “kawaii Japanese women,” either for aesthetic purposes or for personal gain such as AV or just social media clout in general.
Obviously that’s not true for myself or my friends, yet we’ve been at the receiving end of these people’s hatred, which I strongly believe is uninformed hatred being channeled at entirely the wrong group of people. Yes, there are people who fetishize racist stereotypes of POC, but that is not us in the EGL community.
Lolita fashion is about liberation and feminism, and I refuse to let uninformed people turn it into something that it’s not. I know my hobby’s history, and I will never try to look like anyone except my ideal version of myself.
I hope that when people hear strong opinions about any topic, they will take time to search online (you have unlimited information at the tips of your fingers), read up on these topics and their history, and form original opinions and conclusions that you arrived to yourself instead of just following the angry hive.
Thank you for reading, much peace and Love.
