Officially done watching Ripper Street and I recommend it so much!!
I will take that laudanum tho @corpyburd
I will say that Susan Hart/Caitlin Swift is my favourite character (which tbh she probably should be just for being played by MyAnna) because she is such a complex character in my opinion. MyAnna plays her beautifully. I truly believe that she wanted to be a good person but basically every choice she made resulted in her being portrayed as this evil woman, which was especially hard to watch because in most scenes you could just see the pain and the anguish in her eyes, the scene with Jackson in season 3 is a great example of her being very aware of the situation she put herself in and showed her guilt over it. I loved her because even though she wanted to be a good person she was aware that she made choices ‘good’ people wouldn’t and she does a lot of good anyway but she doesn’t even take credit most of the time. In the end even though it pained me greatly I knew she would accept her fate and hang, which broke my heart because she was and is my favourite character.
And another thing, even though her relationship with Matthew was toxic, unhealthy most of the time (almost all of the time tbh) it was epic, I loved it. They were destined for one another and it shows. It was hard to watch when he was with another but I always knew that they would end up together anyway because, to me, he clearly loved her for the entire duration of the show even though they fought more than anything else. Every time they called each other by their original names I got so soft and giddy idk
Reid often annoyed me though 🙄 but even with that the show was still enjoyable, it’s amazing actually, I finished it and immediately started rewatching my favourite episodes that’s how captivating it is

OK, there are maybe easier ways to get a certain book necessary for important research, but that would be too obvious. Here’s the brand new #ripperstreetcartoon #ripperstreetcomic of the week - S09E15 - ❤️ #ripperstreet

Are there any changes to Smokepaw (ShadowClan Apprentice in TNP) in BB? He is my all time favourite Warriors character for literally no reason, he existed twice, the second time to fall off a cliff and die, but I love him. I feel like he was a huge waste of potential, in that first time he appeared I thought of Blackstar as a sort of parental figure to him. Think like Firepaw and Bluestar, maybe? Or maybe more like Firepaw and Yellowfang? I'm sure that was just me serious projecting onto like less than a page of screen time, but I am so attached to him. I even made an AU where there was a conveniently placed river that swept him away to the Sundrown Place where he was taken in by Midnight.
Does BB have anything for my little guy?
Smokefall! Given an obligatory Sardonic ShadowClan name after he fell off a cliff and forced the entire journey to halt in its tracks for almost a month!
because shadowclan is like, ridiculously small and the family tree is a brick, Smokepaw (TNP), Smokepaw (Field Guides), and Smokefoot (Po3) are reworked. SmokeFALL survives, Smokepaw is now BILLOWCLOUD, and Smokefoot is SMOGFOOT.
Smog and Smoke are siblings. Billowcloud is not related to them.
Anyway, Smokepaw got REALLY hurt in that fall, but did survive
A (currently unpicked) Tribe cat actually climbed all the way down to get him. He had to be carried the rest of the way.
But once safe, he really couldn't move or else jeopardize his recovery. That, paired with a lack of travelling rations and a few pregnant cats close to delivery halted the Journey.
But Smokepaw still got ribbed relentlessly for "holding everyone up." Poor guy. ShadowClan humor.
Talonpaw got really close to him in that time. In fact, a LOT of cats developed close bonds in this "intermission," including many of the cats who would ultimately support Mudclaw's claim in WindClan.
Brambleclaw and Hawkfrost, as well.
In general, this is a really important hiatus because it's adding some PIVOTAL breathing room for cats to bond free of Clan divisions.
Clan Culture is never really the same after this. It's a change a long time coming.
He is also one of Birchfall's friends. This entire apprentice/kit generation has a very odd view on Clan divisions, because the Destruction of White Hart and the subsequent journey were so formative.
It was actually Smokepaw's "idea" to make Paw Soup. It came from a suggestion towards some WindClan apprentices, that they should try to make an ancient gumbo recipe that hadn't been seen since the start of Heatherstar's campaign.
Birchkit and his big bro Spiderpaw butted in, RiverClan apprentices didn't want to be left out, and the rest is history.
They never did make that gumbo but they made something new.
At the Lake, he also prevents Talonpaw from dying to Jacques and The Dreaded Susan. By also getting his ass beat.
(But that's probably gonna be offscreen because im not dedicating several chapters to it like canon when theres a civil war that should be in focus)
Smokefall becomes the next Educator of ShadowClan, and the mate of Talonclaw. Eventually Smogfoot surrogates a kit for them-- probably Pinenose.
The couple shows up at various points throughout Po3 and OotS as very important friends of Birchfall, and general friendly faces in ShadowClan which is a major ally through the arcs.
Sadly, though, they meet a gruesome and tragic end in AVoS. The Kin is a cult, and once it takes power, it immediately targets the one who teaches history. Smokefall. Talonclaw refuses to abandon his mate.
His position is taken by the infamous Berryheart, who is the educator through TBC. He is survived by several grandkits through Pinenose-- Slatefur, Puddleshine, and Happyface.

I started watching Ripper Street for my girl Myanna Buring aka ( Caitlin Susan Long Hart ), and what I basically seen, is her being beaten, dragged, felt up, groped, grabbed, again and again and again I mean I get that she is beautiful and tiny and cute but still give the poor woman a break man.

Hi there. I’m sorry if you’ve been asked this before. But can you recommend any wlw books center eg around longing and forbidden love? Thank you!
Never be sorry for that; things move quicky! And my faves are Body Grammar by Jules Ohman, where the main character is in love with her best friend, and We Do What We Do in the Dark by Michelle Hart, which is about a college girl who has an affair with a professor. (I haven’t read The Adult by Bronwyn Fischer or My Education by Susan Choi yet, but I’m assuming similar-ish vibes?) Though if you mean more like fun romance with pining, Meryl Wilsner does fun takes on this - Something to Talk About is super slow-burn between an actress and her assistant, while Mistakes Were Made is the exact opposite of slow-burn, and between a mom and her daughter’s best friend.

“One of These Things” was written by Joe Raposo, Jon Stone and Bruce Hart for Sesame Street(1969). It’s been used regularly on Sesame Street to play a game where viewers find an odd item out of a group of items. The song is often sung by Susan (Loretta Long), although the version in this video is sung by Cookie Monster (Frank Oz).

"Shifting Tides" - Chapter 10 (AO3)
Fandom: Ripper Street
Characters: Susan Hart, Rose Erskine, Emily Reid, Deborah Goren, Bella Culver
Rating: T
“Is it true?” she asked then. She had not bothered asking before as she never indulged too much in rumors, neither cared about any that did not involve her. And she had no intention of talking with Mrs. Reid about it either, but if one wanted to avoid a certain topic of conversation, it would be good to know as many details about it as possible. “Yes,” Jackson replied plainly, aware what she was talking about. “All of it?” Susan continued asking. “I don’t know,” Jackson told her. “I asked Reid but you know how he is. After I annoyed him long enough, he finally admitted to it but not more. And it’s not really any of my business either way.”

Spy (2015) 8/10
Tumblr media
The CIA's top analyst (Melissa McCarthy) gets a crack at a case when her partner (Jude Law) dies in the field. It's up to her to find a stolen nuclear bomb that is at risk of being sold into the wrong hands.
Melissa McCarthy shines as Susan Cooper. She's smart, she's witty, and she has determination to make things right. She's also 40, and joined the CIA after quitting her teaching job. But despite the odds, she fights hard for what's right.
The movie stars an ensemble cast, including Miranda Hart, who plays Susan's best friend and colleague, Nancy B. Artingsall, Rose Byrne as Rayna Boyanov, the daughter of Tihomir Boyanov (the only other person who knows where the bomb is hidden), Jude Law as debonair agent Bradley Fine, and Jason Statham as Rick Ford, a super macho agent who clashes with Susan.
The plot is easy to follow, and the movie takes place in Rome, Paris, and Budapest, following Susan Cooper's mission. The jokes are witty, mostly delivered by McCarthy and Statham. (Statham's character has two particular monologues about what he's done on missions, and it's hilarious).
There's not really any dull moments in this movie, because you're engaged in the fact that Susan has to track down Rayna to get to the bomb. And she struggles a few times, but she manages. And Rose Byrne is hilarious as Rayna, playing a stuck up, but ruthless person. She is dedicated to what her father left her.
There's hand to hand fight scenes, a car chase, and shootouts, so if you like any of those in an action movie, this has all three.
I did recently rewatch this movie after not seeing it for a few years, so it did feel long to me, but maybe that's because it's been a while. I'm sure if you see this movie over and over, it'll feel short.
But this is a good action comedy if you don't want to think too much!
