"longboarders don't know any cool tricks and just use boards to go around campus" (proceeds to not acknowedge dance/freestyle at all where i've seen several people kickflip 40+ inch long decks and I know someone who can kickflip one of these) "just step off the board" "just do powerslides" "just go fast" like do you know how hard that is. to keep it so honest with you figuring out how to ollie was way easier than figuring out how to aerograb (i still can't aerograb) "longboarders don't put in the effort skateboarders do" does this guy know about the blood toll jokes in the downhill space. and how bad road rash hurts. "longboards don't have a nose or tail" "can't do ramps or gaps" both bullshit there's decks that can do that and dancers exist.

I painted this lil guy on a longboard back in the summer of 2018. His name is Chomps. :) This was a part of a Plants & Animals themed show by MadAir Decks. Chomps was purchased by somebody else, but I’m still so happy with how this piece turned out! 🐊🛹✨

Crowdsourcing assistance: I found a longboard deck with no wheels. I've never used a skateboard but I'm willing to figure this out. Does anyone know what kind of hardware I need for this? I can't find a longboard shaped like this online and I don't know Jack all myself

Come Over Here and Overwhelm Me: Prologue - good life (Jake "Hangman" Seresin x OC)
Tumblr media
Summary: Ronnie Bradshaw is finally happy with her life - or at least, that's what she tells herself.
Pairing: Jake "Hangman" Seresin x OC (Ronnie Bradshaw)
Word Count: 816
Warnings: no Hangman or Rooster or really anyone in this intro, they'll be here soon!
ONE | TWO | THREE
✎……Just a short little intro to this story. Would love to hear your thoughts on this, friends! Likes, comments, and reblogs are always appreciated!
Tumblr media
Her hair whipped behind her like a cape. And as the mid-evening sun glistened on the water, graced the tops of the trees — she could have sworn she was flying.
She knew what it was like to really fly, though. The g-forces pushing on her spine. The weightlessness. The neverending expanse of sky. The exhilaration. It was a beautiful thing — flying. A miracle, even. But she hadn’t been up in the air in a long time. The closest thing she was going to get for now was being on her longboard, racing down the hill towards The Hard Deck bar.
It was nearing on five, and Penny was going to kill her if she was late. Apparently her older partner heard through the grape vine that a select few of the best pilots were being called back to TOPGUN for one classified reason or another — so the bar was going to be packed with freshly landed flyboys tonight.
Great. Those were Ronnie’s favorite type of people.
The Hard Deck was coming in hot as Ronnie rounded a corner, leaning just so and keeping her balance perfectly. A skill learned from decades of practice. She smiled as the details of the place grew sharper. The bungalow style of it, the neon sign ready to be lit when the sun went down, the contrast between the concrete of the road and the nearly white sands of the beach. It took four years of hard work from Penny and herself, but that bar was now an icon of Marimar.
Ronnie slowed herself to a stop in the parking lot, kicking her board up into her hand, she headed inside. It was much cooler inside the bar. The southern California heat was coming in fast — but that just made Ronnie excited for post shift surfing sessions. The water must feel amazing right now. Her body practically itched to just run through the backdoors of the bar and dive into the ocean. She could see it, glistening and rippling just beyond the glass.
There would be time for that later, though. Right now, glasses needed set and ready to be filled with alcohol.
Penny sat behind the desk in the small office off of the main room. Ronnie guessed she had already been there for hours. Running numbers and finishing that weeks payroll. The older woman smiled when Ronnie came in to stow away her bag and longboard.
“I don’t know how you still ride that thing to work every day,” Penny commented as she closed up the bar’s ledger.
“More fun than driving,” Ronnie answered, still out of breath from her journey as she leaned her board against the wall.
Penny got up from her chair. “You ready for a busy night?”
“I am.” Ronnie straighted out her clothes before following Penny back out to the main room. “But if your intel is a total bust and we’re empty I’m gonna be so pissed. All pent up for nothing.”
She shook out her shoulders for emphasis as she grabbed a milk crate full of wheat beer glasses that had been set just outside the kitchen doors once they were clean. Settling the crate behind the bar, she ducked down and began putting the glasses back where they belonged under the counter. Easy access for whoever was bartending that night.
“I’ll be behind the bar tonight — do all the talking. I know how you feel about pilots,” Penny said as she too grabbed a crate of delicate glasses and headed behind the bar in the center of the large room.
“Or is it just because you don’t wanna be walking around picking up empty glasses all night?” Ronnie narrowed her eyes at Penny.
The older woman chuckled, caught. “Oh, possibly.”
“Don’t worry, Pen.” Ronnie straightened herself out with a stretch. “I’ll take one for the team. Let an old lady rest.”
“Veronica Bradshaw! I am not old!” Penny gaped, though there was a hint of amusement behind her tone.
“No, no, definitely not. You just…Knew me when I was a baby and now we co-own a bar together.” Ronnie leaned back against the bar with her arms folded and one eyebrow quirked. “I’m in my thirties, Pen.”
This stopped Penny dead in her tracks as she put away the last shot glass. “Y-You’re in your thirties?”
“Mm-hmm.”
“Which makes me…” She trailed off as she started counting on her fingers. “Jesus…I am old.”
Ronnie laughed as she walked back over to the kitchen to get another crate of glasses. Head thrown back and hands on her hips. This was a good life. It took a long time to find it, but it was good. She loved her job, loved her friends, loved her house. And she worked hard for it. Spent so long so unsure of herself. But she was sure now.
She was Veronica Bradshaw — and she loved her life.

For Death or For Glory (1) // JTK
Tumblr media
Characters: Jacob x (oc) Lily Warning: Language. no smut (yet) but as always this 18+ so minors DNI, mentions of death. Author's Note: This took me forever to finish and the ending kind of eh but you can be the judge of that.
Fire. There was so much fire. It burned through the ship and took lives as it swept along the ship. Screams. They filled my ears as panic filled everyone’s veins. I was being pulled along the deck of the ship until coming to a stop along the ledge.
“Lily, you must jump.” “Jump?” I say turning to my father. “Have you gone mad? I will not jump.” “Lillian, you must jump. There is a longboard below. Sail it back to the island.” “I am not leaving without you.”
“Jacob!”
A young man swings down from the mast and lands on the deck beside me.
“Aye Captain.” He says out of breath. “Take my daughter back to the island. Keep her safe.” “Father–” “You must go.” He says as he holds my face between his hands. “I’ll be right behind you.”
But he never was right behind me.
As Jacob hoists over me over the side of the ship and down onto the long boat, his brothers make haste to row the boat as far away as fast as possible from the burning and sinking ship. I watch from the boat with tears in my eyes and a lump in my throat as the ship slowly sinks beneath the waves. Father never made it out alive. He never met on the island. He was gone forever and now I was stuck with three pirates.
______________________________________
The boat reaches the shore, colliding with the sand and coming to a rough stop. All three men hop out of the boat. Jacob holds out his hand. “Come now, we must find shelter.” He says. She stands up in the boat and climbs out on her own, ignoring his gesture.
“Okay..” He mumbles.
She struggles along the sand and tries to hold her dress up above her feet to prevent herself from falling over.
“Oh this bloody dress..” She mutters under her breath. “Have to act like a lady and in order to act like a lady, one must wear a dress. Stupid.. Utterly stupid..”
She can hear Jacob chuckling behind her. She turns her head to look at him and he immediately stops, coughing to clear his throat and looking off somewhere else. Huffing, she turns back around and continues on through the sand.
“Where is she going?” Joshua asks.
Jacob shrugs his shoulders and shakes his head. “I don’t think she even knows.”
“Should we go after her?” Samuel asks as he walks up to stand beside his brothers and watch the princess as she struggles to walk through the sand in her dress. “Or help her?”
Jacob sighs and drops his hands to his sides. “Come on..” He says before going to catch up with Lily. “Do you have any idea where you are going?” He asks once he’s beside her.
“Not one.” She says.
“Well perhaps going in that direction,” Jacob says pointing off to his right. “Will be of better help.”
Lily turns her head to look in the direction that Jacob is holding his hand. Not far down the shore she can see fire lit torches, docks, and people milling around.
“I do guess that going that way would be helpful.” She says.
“Mmhmm..” Jacob hums. “After you, Princess.”
“Do not call me that.” Lily says as she walks off towards the island town.
“Well you are a princess, are you not?” Jacob says as he follows beside her.
“I am but–”
“So I assume calling you ‘princess’ is correct, yes?”
Lily huffs. “Why must you be so agitating?”
Jacob chuckles. “I’m just trying to be politically correct, your highness.”
Lily rolls her eyes. “Then call me by my name, I hate being called princess..”
“As you wish, Lily.”
Coming up to the town, the four of them stop and look around. Neither one of them knows exactly the first thing to do. Find food? Find shelter? Maybe pay a captain to allow them on their ship and try to get back to their home?
Samuel, however, decides first to get food. Of course. He’s always hungry. Always in search of food. Gold? Silver? Jewels? Riches? Not important to him. A nice juicy turkey leg and a cup full of beer? Right up his alley.
So without arguments or other suggestions, the four of them head into the town in search of a tavern. Jacob holds open the door to one tavern allowing Lily to go in first. “Do you know where we are?” Joshua whispers to him.
“Not a clue..” Jacob mutters.
“People are staring..” Samuel says. “She stands out too much.”
Jacob looks over at Lily who stands off to the side of Joshua. Everyone is indeed looking at her. He sighs and grabs her hand before pulling her out of the tavern.
“What? Jacob!”
“We have to change you,” He says. “People are staring.”
“Let them.”
Jacob shakes his head. “We don’t even know where we are. Chances are someone here hates Fetera and if they figure out who you are, we are done for.”
He searches the market area and finds a clothing merchant just down the way from the tavern. He tugs her down the dirt road towards the merchant. The man smiles up at the pair. “Good evening, how might I help you?”
“We’re looking for clothes for her. Instead of flashy, we need dull.”
“I think that I have just the thing.” The man disappears behind a curtain. After a few minutes of awkward standing with Jacob, the man comes back to the stand carrying a bundle of dark clothing and a pair of leather boots. “These should fit.”
“How much, sir?” Jacob says.
Lily raises her eyebrows at him. “You’re going to pay for those?”
“No,” Jacob says, shaking his head. “You are.” He says, giving her a cheeky grin.
“Oh you’re such a gentleman..” She says, rolling her eyes. Digging into her pocket she pulls out a cloth bag full of coins.
“Just one silver ma’am.” The man smiles.
Lily hands over a silver coin. “Will that work?” She asks.
The man nods his head. “Of course, your highness.” The man says softly, adding in a wink.
“Thank you.” Lily smiles as she takes the clothes from the man.
Finding somewhere private to change, Lily slips inside the room and begins to change out of her clothes while Jacob waits outside and cleaning the barrel of his gun. He feels a tap on his shoulder and he glances behind him to see Lily peering at him from around the corner of the door.
“Do you mind helping me?” She asks. “These stupid strings keep getting stuck.”
“Oh uh, yeah sure.” Jacob holsters his gun and steps into the room. “How do I-”
“It’s like untying your boots Jacob.” She says facing away from him.
“Mmmkay..” He says as he reaches for the strings of her dress. He works to untie them and allows to slip the dress off herself.
“Corset, please.” She says.
Jacob sighs and works to untie those ties as well. “Women wear a lot of clothing.”
“No, it’s just called being a Princess..” He unlaces the last of the strings before excusing himself to let her get dressed in the other clothes.
The next time she emerges, she’s dressed in all black. Black dress with a leather waistband and a dark brown colored cape covering over top. Jacob looks away as he scratches the back of his neck.
“We should uh, get back to the others.” He says.
As they make their way back to the tavern, Lily stops in front of a market booth. Resting against the front of the booth is a bow made out of silver metal and a tight string. Next to it lies a quiver full of arrows. Jacob hadn’t noticed she had stopped until he got to the doors of the tavern. He looks back to find her holding the bow in her hands and pulling back on the string. He sees her mouth moving as she exchanges some words with the merchant.
She lowers the bow and nods her head as she smiles. It was very rare that he ever saw her smile. Within the three weeks of sailing, he’s hardly ever seen her. Her father–king and captain of the ship–kept her mostly in the captain’s quarters away from the crew. He watches as she hands over a few pieces of silver before retrieving the quiver and slinging it over her head to rest on her back.
“May I ask why you bought that?” He asks as she rejoins him outside of the tavern.
“You and your brothers have swords and guns, figured I’d get something I could use.”
“Have you ever used one before?”
She shrugs her shoulders. “I don’t know, put an apple on the top of your head and let’s find out.” She says giving him a smug smile before pulling open the door to the tavern and steps inside.
And I’m stuck with her? Jacob thinks as he follows behind her into the tavern.
“Well this is a major change.” Joshua smiles. “Feel more comfortable?”
Lily nods her head as she rests the bow and quiver against the wooden table and takes her seat beside Samuel. “More comfortable than having fifty layers of clothing digging into my skin.”
Samuel chuckles. “Being a man is much easier.”
“Unfortunately, I wasn’t that lucky.”
A few beers are set down on the table in front of them along with a goblet of wine. “For the lady.” Jacob winks.
A shadow appears over the top of them and they all look up to see a burly man dressed in wool and leather from head to toe. His long hair is pulled back in a half up do style with his beard braided down the front of him.
“New faces in town, eh?” He says. “Pirates..”
“Pirates?! In my bar?!” A woman’s voice shouts. “There will be no pirates allowed in here!”
Jacob heaves a sigh and stands up from the table. “We aren’t here to cause any harm.”
“I don’t care, pirates are not allowed in here.” She says. “Those are the rules.” The woman steps out from behind the bar. “Out with all of you.”
The big burly man escorts the four of them out of the tavern. The woman comes to the door and folds her arms across her chest. “Your kind isn’t welcome here in this town, so I’d suggest you find somewhere else to go.”
“Any ideas?” Jacob asks.
“This island is big, I’m sure there’s a town that’ll accept your dirty presence.”
“Dirty?” Joshua says as he rests his hands on his hips. “The only thing dirty in this place is–”
“Let’s just go,” Samuel says as he shoves Joshua away from the tavern. “The last thing we need is trouble on our hands.”
As the four of them walk through the center of town, Jacob catches eye with the man who sold Lily her clothes. Instead of his bright smile from before, he’s now scowling at them and disappears behind the curtains of his booth. Jacob’s eyebrows furrow as he comes to realize that word definitely spreads fast. Everyone is watching them.
“I’m not liking this.” Samuel whispers to Jacob.
“Head for the woods.” Jacob says. “I have a plan.”
“This can’t be good.” Joshua mutters.
“Just trust me.”
“Yeah, remember the last time you said that?” Samuel says. “You almost got Daniel killed.”
“That wasn’t my fault!” Jacob snaps. “Now go to the woods. I’ll meet you all there.”
They break apart going in separate directions. Lily is being pulled through the streets in the direction of the lingering wood just beyond the cobblestone buildings. Jacob sneaks off down a different road lined with more booths. He spots a stand full of fruit and vegetables. Rolling down his sleeves to hide his tattoos, he hides his gun in the back of his pants underneath his shirt. Slowly approaching the booth he finds an elderly woman nodding off in a chair.
Perfect.
Grabbing a burlap sack off the nearest booth without anyone noticing, he quickly and quietly begins stuffing various fruit and vegetables inside of it all while keeping a side eye on the woman as she sleeps. Knowing exiting back into the road would be risky with people milling around, he quietly slips out the back of the booth.
He heads down an empty, dark alley and heads for the nearby stables just up the road. They’ll need at least four horses to travel. Who knows how big the island is or how far the next town will be. No one seemed to be around that he could see so he hastily got to work saddling up four horses and tying their reins together. Climbing up onto his own horse that he selected to be his, he grabs the reins and quickly takes off to the woods with the horses in tow.
He knew it would be too easy to get away with. Shouts behind him only make him ride faster, pulling the other three stallions behind him. A wicked smile spreads across his face and soon he’s laughing.
A shot rings in the air. The bullet whizzed past his face.
“Damn pirates! Always stealing!”
Jacob laughs again and rides off into the woods and disappears from the sight of those who had been chasing him. He comes to a slow trot through the trees before circling back around to find his brothers and the princess. Suddenly an arrow flies past his head. He narrowly dodges it and whips his head around to see it plunge into the dark wood of a maple tree behind him. He turns his head back around to see Lily lowering her bow.
“What the fuck was that about?” He says dismounting his horse.
“You stole those horses?!” She shouts.
“I’m a pirate, darling. It’s what we do.”
“No wonder your friend is trapped in Wales. You just have to have what isn’t yours.”
Jacob’s fists clench at his sides. “I would suggest you shut the pretty little mouth of yours before I shut it for you.”
Lily rests the bow on her back. “From here on out, we do not steal. Do you understand me?”
“I am not taking orders from a princess.” Jacob says.
“You will if you still want my help freeing your friend.”
“We needed your father.”
“My father is dead, Jacob. I am your only chance. So you either follow my rules or I will find my own way back home and let your friend rot on that island.”
“Jacob, just listen to her.” Samuel begs. “Please. We need to free Daniel.”
Jacob’s jaw clenched tightly. He gives a taunting bow to Lily. “Whatever you say, your highness.”
Lily walks over to the brown horse and unties the reins from Jacob’s horse. “Now, shall we keep moving?” She mounts her horse and watches the three men as they look between each other.
One would think that being pirates, they would be ordering her around. Not the other way around.
Joshua heaves a sigh. “Well you heard her boys.” He picks out a white horse from the group and mounts it. “Let’s get going.” Jacob reluctantly gets back onto his horse followed by Samuel who gets on the last horse.
“Since you seem to be the one in charge, what exactly is your plan?” Jacob calls from his horse.
“Find a place that doesn’t want to kill the three of you.” She says. “Or me by being associated with you.”
As the four of them trot through the woods, the silence between them is more deafening than how oddly quiet the woods themselves seem to be. Jacob didn’t have a good feeling about it. Something seemed off. He doesn’t know these woods but he’s never wrong when his senses tell him that things weren’t good. Reaching for the pistol on his hip, he pulls it out of the holster and keeps his eyes vigilant on their surroundings.
He wasn’t the only one who was on their guard. Lily had retrieved her bow and an arrow and kept it held at her side. He notices her slowing down before coming to a stop. That’s when he picked up on what she was sensing. Someone was following them, watching them.
Glancing behind them, he sees someone duck behind a tree. He points his gun in that direction and pulls the trigger.
Joshua nearly jumps out of his skin. The three of them turned to face the direction that Jacob shot in.
“Gave me a near heart attack,” Joshua huffs. “What the hell was that for?”
“Someone’s following us,” He says. “Have been for a while.” He points the gun back in the same direction. “Come on out,” He calls. “Who are you?”
Lily lifts her bow and aims the arrow. Samuel retrieves his gun while Joshua pulls out his sword.
“You’ve got three seconds to show yourself.” Jacob calls out again. “One… Two…” He wraps his fingers around the trigger. “Thr-”
“Okay!” A voice calls. A woman’s voice. “I’m not here to harm you!”
She steps out from behind the trees with her hands raised in the air beside her head. Lily lowers her bow as Samuel holsters his gun while Joshua rests his sword across his lap. Jacob, however, keeps his gun trained on her.
If there’s one thing about Jacob is that he has trust issues. Always had, and he won’t let his guard down just because the rest of them have. He watches her carefully. Every move she makes. How slowly she drops her hands to her sides. The fear in her eyes as she keeps her eyes glued on him.
“I’m sorry.. I’m sorry..” She says.
“Why are you following us?” He asks. “What do you want?”
“I-I saw you.. In the town square after you were kicked out of the tavern.. I know pirates aren’t welcome in this town but I know of one that will welcome you.. I know your ship was attacked and I know of some people there that can help–get you a new ship o-or whatever you need.”
“How can we trust you?”
She reaches for her robe and opens it. “I come bearing no weapons, just me.” She says. “I’m sorry for frightening you..”
Lily trots over on her horse to reside next to Jacob. She drops down from her horse and walks over to her. “What are you doing?” Jacob says. Lily ignores him and approaches the girl.
“What’s your name?”
“Lydia.”
“Okay.. Lydia..” Lily says with a slight nod of her head. “Can we trust this town?”
Lydia nods her head. “Of course, it is where I am from. I, myself, used to be a pirate.”
Jacob scoffs. “Lying, already. Women cannot be pirates.”
“I am not lying, sir.” Lydia says. “I really was a pirate. I grew up on the docks and even went out on excursions with my father.” She reaches beneath the collar of her dress and produces a gold coin hanging from a golden chain. A skull is carved in it with the initials E. B. R. followed by four numbers, 1-7-8-9.
“EBR, 1789.” Joshua reads. “I recognize that.”
“Edward Bernard Rowe.” Jacob says. “He sailed the Mary Anne. Was wrecked during a storm off of the African coast in 1789.”
Lydia nods her head. “I am his daughter. He let me sail his ship many times.”
“We can trust her.” Lily says.
Jacob rolls his eyes. “If we get caught, I blame you.” He says as Lily brings Lydia to her horse.

What does your board look like (saw skater in bio)
I have two! I have this Sector 9 longboard I mainly ride, and a standard deck somewhere in storage bc I rarely ride it. I'm just getting back into it since I broke my ankle 6 months ago, but the weather has been just lovely where I'm at so I'm excited to really get at it again.
I really love how smooth the double-stacked carver bushings feel - I can glide super easy between wide, sailing turns, & tight carving turns. & it doesn't look like it, but it has juuust enough tail to kick turn if I need to.
Feel free to send me asks btw!

You know, I would love to learn how to skateboard and maybe I will, but I feel like Casper could be a good teacher. What do you think?
Hi again!
Like most things about Casper, the skating is life-accurate. I do actually skate, and I've helped my niece learn how, too!
I should mention that I do not skate "traditionally." I ride a longboard that is meant for carving. It does not have a tail, so it's not meant for tricks, and I don't really have a desire to do tricks, either; I'm thirty, and learning how to do anything on a skateboard involves falling -- a lot -- especially learning tricks. There is always some risk with skating, and I don't want to increase that risk, especially at my age.
That said, here are some tips I can give you, if you want to learn how to longboard like I do.
1. Always wear a helmet. Bones can heal, but TBIs are for life. Never skate without one.
2. Always bend your knees, never be rigid on your board. It's hard in the beginning, but always keep it in the back of your mind. You will have the best reflexes if you are loose and relaxed. Skating is all about weight control, shifting your weight between your feet to do different things. It's hard to be light on your feet when you're stiff.
3. Learn to footbrake. Again, non-negotiable. If you can't stop, you can't skate. When you're learning, brace the inside of your brake foot against the deck and slowly lower it by bending your opposite knee.
4. When you're riding, if you're afraid, your instinct will be to lean back away from danger and put your weight on your back foot. That's how you fishtail and crash. Always keep your weight on your front foot.
5. Don't get some cheap piece of shit board off Amazon, do some research and expect to spend between $200-$300 at least. Again, this is a safety thing, don't risk your life on some crap deck that's going to fall apart when you need it most and get you hurt.
I have a 33" Landyachtz Dropcat, which has been amazing to learn on and I would recommend to anyone. I am 5"5 and I have a short stance, so the shorter version is perfect for me, but they also have a 38" version if you are tall.
Hope that was helpful! I love to skate, and it has been fantastic for my mental and physical health.

Note
also hi hello can we have some. klavier headcanons perhaps 🤲
klavier is his birth name. i will not budge on this. his parents are just extremely weird. not even really the good weird. just weird weird
got a guitar when he was really young and initially had private lessons for classical guitar, which he still plays beautifully. but he did also get really annoyed with those lessons and stopped going eventually without telling anyone. he taught himself the rest, with the help of youtube, and bono
can also play every other instrument in his band, although not as perfectly as he plays guitar. just kind of the basics to help him with writing his compositions
had some tooth troubles in his youth. braces first, and as soon as his teeth looked perfect, there was An Incident that chipped his front teeth, so those are half fake
depending on how mean i want to be to him, that incident is either:
baby got his first longboard and really ate shit, or
baby called a german woman "Fräulein" to her face and got decked in the teeth.
can cook!! likes to cook!! stop saying my man cant take care of himself!!! he can actually take care of himself so well it's a little worrisome if you catch my drift
genuinely always wearing biker boots with any outfit. its a horrible and ridiculous habit
also meaning he cant walk on heels. sorry. its just funny to me. he's beauty he's grace, you know the man has probably learned pole dancing for one of his shows and is really breathtaking at it, but he cannot take two steps in anything other than biker boots, or he will fall over and break both of his ankles, and also lose more of his teeth.
he does have tattoos, conveniently placed to not be spotted even with the court suit cleavage. many have sweet and important meanings, but a good chunk of them are also just silly
he did cry for some of those. and as someone with 10 tattoos myself, some of them in really painful spots: i never cried, and most tattoo artists have told me theyve never had anyone cry either. but i'm telling you. klavier cried.
needs glasses, wears contacts. not necessarily out of vanity, they're just easier to deal with when you wear a motorcycle helmet so often
loooves oldtimey detective stories
keeps his nails short and unpainted. he did regular black nail polish for a while but it kept chipping because he works so much with his hands, and even though that technically works with the look, it drove him crazy
weak stomach. as in gets the shits every time theyre on tour. i have no reason for this headcanon i just think he needs to be nerfed now and then.

How to ride an electric skateboard?
Learning how to ride an electric skateboard is easier than a traditional skateboard because you can actually control the device in your hands. With the remote control, you can set speed limits, accelerate uphill, and brake smoothly for downhill riding. Plus, finding balance on an electric skateboard is easier and more intuitive since you don’t need to kick and push.
Posture and balance are crucial when learning how to ride an electric skateboard. As you accelerate, you want your weight to rest on the back of the board. When braking, transfer your weight forward onto your front foot.
Your center of gravity plays an important role in your comfort and stability. That said, riding an electric longboard is easier when your knees are slightly bent, your back foot is parallel to the motor, and your front foot is diagonal to the deck.
If you're already a skateboarder, you may be looking for a new challenge. Use your talents and ride a veymax electric skateboard.
Remember having to walk up a hill to experience the thrill of walking down the other side? With an electric skateboard, you no longer have to waste time and energy walking. Just use the handheld remote control to get up and down the mountain quickly. If you are a surfer, you can experience the thrill of surfing on land without the waves!

Match Sticks || Van & Zack
TIMING: mid june. PARTIES:  @zackbanes & @vanoincidence SUMMARY: van finds zack on the beach! CONTENT WARNINGS: parental death mentions.
The town had its own way of scaring itself, that much had been apparent. But regardless of that fact, Van rarely listened to the whispers of those who thought themselves wiser. It was all one big trick, all one stupid trick to keep people in place. She’d seen it in movies before. Even in her video games! Even though she spent the majority of her existence in line with the anxiety that never seemed to leave her out of fear that something bad would happen, there were moments that she allowed herself some grace.
Vicker’s Beach was an easy escape. It was never crowded at night, and it was easy to distance herself from anyone who was there. Van held her longboard under one arm and her battered converse in the other as she made her way onto the sand. The wind wasn’t cold, but it had a bite to it. The kind that made her wish she’d brought at least an overshirt. It’d been a few weeks since she’d been to the water’s edge; too embroiled in memories of how her mom would pick seashells and make necklaces out of them, and how her dad would point out shark’s teeth and other treasures that would wash up, telling Van about their histories. To this day, she never knew if he was inflating said history.
After finding a good enough spot, Van had intended on setting her board upside down with her shoes on the deck, but the sight of something made her stop entirely. There was fire, and it was only little flecks here and there, but there was a man, too, that much she could tell. Was he on fire? There was no way! What was she supposed to do in this situation? Push him into the water? Throw sand onto him? Push him so he could stop drop and roll!? Van didn’t like running. In fact, she detested it. Running in the sand was even worse. But the fire grew in one big plume and she was hobbling through the sand, legs too short to gain any actual distance. She had forgotten her board and shoes from where she came and she pulled out her phone, flashlight pointed towards the man. The fire had come from his hands. That wasn’t possible. There was no way.
Practicing his magic at Nightfall Grove was decidedly out. The trauma of being nearly eaten by that horrible torple lingered heavy on Zack. From what Levi had explained, he was just as likely to get tracked by one of those things anywhere else. But still, the memory of walking down those cobbled streets and all the panic and horror and pain… Yeah, he would just be avoiding the whole of that section of town for a while.
But he didn’t want to give up on his practice entirely. Up until the torple, playing with the candle lamps in Nightfall had gone amazingly well. Perfect control, not one fireball or stray spark the entire time. Zack wasn’t ready to move on to anything bigger necessarily, but he did want to test that control. See how long he might be able to maintain a fire, hold a flame steady and burning. Levi had offered his own island for whenever Zack wanted to practice, but he had only just come out of mooching off the guy’s kindness for a week or more. He wasn’t exactly keen on asking him for more favors.
But that private island certainly wasn’t the only beach around. Zack would just have to venture out after dark, to ensure that there was no one else around that could spot him, or that he might end up hurting should things get out of hand.
Of course, he did get spotted. Pretty quickly. Had only been trying his hand at holding the fire for ten or so minutes and before Zack knew what was happening there was someone right up behind him, pointing a flashlight his way. Thankfully the surprise just put the fire out, rather than casting it wider. He stood stock still, frozen in shock and fear. Because, fuck. There was no way she hadn’t seen… But maybe in the dark, maybe she wouldn’t be sure of what she had seen. He would just have to…pretend everything was normal. “Uh. Hi?” he tried, awkward.
The fire disappeared almost instantly, and Van’s mouth formed a perfect o as she tried to figure out what to say. She didn’t see a lighter, but obviously he had to be holding one. There was no way he was making fire spring to life from his hands. Maybe he was trying out magic tricks; the kinds that faux magicians with tophats did on late night television. Maybe he was a raver. Ravers had fire kits, right? To perform? She thought she’d seen them on an EDC broadcast one time. She continued staring at the stranger for a beat more before she realized her flashlight was pointing directly in his face.
“Oh! Sorry.” Van lowered her phone, but kept the flash on. She looked at his hands again with her brows furrowed, then her gaze lifted back up to meet his. “I thought you were on fire. Sorry, I didn’t mean to…” Scare you? As if she could scare anyone. But she had, in the past. She forced the memory now and shifted from one foot to the other.
Okay, she had definitely seen. The way she kept staring at his hands with that incredulous look made it clear. “I wasn’t,” Zack answered, a bit stupidly. “I…was playing with matches,” he ventured, grasping at straws. It wasn’t the best story, but it was the best one he could come up with in the moment. “But when you ran up, I dropped it.” He kicked his foot in the sand nearby, as if scattering it to cover a smoldering match. There was no match, of course, but he knew he was lying pretty badly, caught off guard as he was. This way, at least, if she went looking for the match, there was a feasible reason for why it wasn’t there. He hoped.
Even if she did believe the story though, Zack couldn’t believe he had been so stupid. He had allowed himself to get comfortable with this thing and nothing could be more dangerous. So he hadn’t set anything on fire, what did that matter? There were other ways it could be dangerous. Like now. He was standing here, out in the open, in the middle of the night, with some girl who had absolutely seen him summon sparks out of thin air. All because he had let his guard down. “Sorry if I scared you. Thinking I was…on fire,” Zack trailed, hoping to at least, maybe, distract the girl. “I was just coming out for a walk, to clear my head. And the matches are… Like a nervous habit?” he offered. Hopefully that seemed at least halfway believable.
Matches! Yes, that made sense. Obviously flames would spring at the strike of a match. Van relaxed slightly, glad to know there was a name for the thing she’d seen, instead of letting her mind wander with it altogether. She looked down as he kicked at the sand. It probably wasn’t good to leave a match in the sand, something would try and eat it. Then again, it was just wood, wasn’t it? She wasn’t sure. “Oh.. yeah, okay. Well, I’m glad you’re not on fire.” Maybe it was why he came to the shore? In case whatever he was doing did light him on fire.
“No, it’s okay.” His apology landed and guilt tucked itself beneath Van’s skin. She should be apologizing to him. It wasn’t normal to run up on a stranger in the dead of night, especially when there were no other people around. She bit the inside of her cheek as he further explained himself. He really didn’t need to, all things considered. She’d been the one to shine a flashlight in his face. She looked over her shoulder at her board and shoes. The sand between her toes felt hot despite the blanket of stars over them. Maybe it was nerves. “I usually skate.” He didn’t ask. “Or listen to music.” He didn’t ask. “But matches are cool, too.” Were they? Not really. “Actually, no… not really, but at least you aren’t smoking?” Way to comment on somebody’s lifestyle choices that have no affect on you. “Or you could, I mean. Depending on what you want to do.” She sighed heavily and ran a hand through her hair, closing her eyes for a moment before she opened them to look at the way the moon shone over the water as it rippled with each passing wave. “It’s a good place to think, so I’m sorry for bothering you.”
Zack let himself relax only slightly. The other person seemed to believe him, by some miracle. Okay. Okay, good. He would just have to be sure to keep it that way. “I’m…also glad I’m not on fire,” he said, making an awkward sort of joke. Though, it was true. With what he had been practicing, he was glad it didn’t get out of hand. Once more, he felt a deep annoyance with himself settle in. He should have know better than to be fucking around with his magic (?) out in the open. Out where there could be people, however empty it had seemed when he arrived.
“I never learned how,” he said, of skating. “But it sounds like it could be relaxing.” He remembered loving the feeling of riding his bike downhill, as a kid. That wide-open, free feeling. He hadn’t really let himself come close to anything like, too afraid of what loosening his hold on his control might cause. And then he gave a soft laugh, scuffing a hand through his hair. “No, it is good that I’m not smoking. I used to. Quitting was a real bi– was really hard.” They weren’t a child, this person before him, but it still seemed wrong to curse in front of them.
“It’s all right,” he offers back, watching them watch the waves. “I haven’t been out here before,” he said, “but you’re right. It seems like a good place to think. Do you…come around often?”
“You never learned how to smo–” Oh. Skate. Right. She had mentioned that. Realistically, skating was the only thing that Van really had anymore, at least in the outside world. If you could even call it that. She didn’t go out, and when she did, it was usually to ride her board. She liked the way it made her feel; like a kid with nothing to lose. Of course, she’d lost everything at a much older age, but the sentiment remained. “It isn’t that hard.” He didn’t look that old, he could probably learn. “I don’t really do tricks or anything, and Tony Hawk is like, ancient and he still skates, I’m sure you could learn if you really wanted to.” She knew how to skate on both, but she liked her longboard better, so she could only truly offer advice on that. “Not that you asked.”
“Did you just censor yourself?” Van blinked at him, an amused expression splitting over the earlier confusion and guilt. “Are you serious, dude?” She crossed her arms over her chest, immediately distracted from why she’d been standing in front of him in the first place. “So you’re new to town? Everyone comes to Vicker’s Beach like, all the time. Every summer it’s packed.” The tourism board made sure of that. “Do I…” She stared at him before snorting. It felt weird, to have a feeling of ease. He looked like he was being so careful. Why was that? Maybe because he’d almost lit himself on fire. Or hadn’t he said that didn’t happen?
Van shrugged. “I do. Sometimes. It’s nice.” She wouldn’t get into specifics, she didn’t know him like that. She didn’t know him at all. “Do you like it? Seems like it, if you’re using it as your trashcan.” She motioned towards the sand where the match was buried beneath somewhere. As she stood there, she fought off the feeling of guilt. That maybe Debbie could be having this conversation, too; that maybe she would have gone home. But then Van wouldn’t have, and neither would the others. She cleared her throat. “I’m kidding, by the way.”
A self-effacing laugh props out from Zack at her mention that Tony Hawk is, like, ancient. Guess he would seem on the other side of “old” to a kid like that. Some days, maybe, he felt ancient too. Or at least like he had lived more than his thirty years. “I think I’m good with two feet on the ground.” Besides, with his leg still not quite up to one hundred percent, he shouldn’t be trying anything more complicated than walking.
“I– No.” But he had obviously been caught, so he just grinned back. “Maybe. Sorry. Just felt…wrong.” And then at her question, he agreed, “Kind of. Or, haven’t been here for the summer, yet.” But if this beach was popular, that certainly put a damper on any plans he may have had for it as a place he could practice. It made sense, though, that this would be a prime summer spot. Teens coming out for some illicit drinking or hooking up or whatever. He had been stupid to ever think it might be safe for him to try. It wasn’t safe, wouldn’t be, even out on Levi’s island he couldn’t be sure. He could never be sure.
A blush rose to Zack’s cheeks as she ribbed him for the apparent littering. But some of it settled at her assurance that she was only joking. “Right. I do. Like it here, I mean. But probably not as it gets warmer, and more crowded.” He cast his eyes out over the surf, the churn of waves. “Probably won’t be as good to clear your head when there are a bunch of other people around.”
“Suit yourself.” Van tried to imagine him skating, but not without the elbow, knee, and shin pads. It was silly to picture people she didn’t know in situations that might align with her own lifestyle. Maybe it was purposeful, to acknowledge just how fragile life was. Debbie had been standing in front of her one moment, and in the next, Nora’s knife had gone through her mouth. Van shifted uncomfortably thanks to the thought and she let out a hum to physically distract herself.
“What’s wrong with cussing?” Her mom had done her best to not swear around her, so much so that she reverted to cantonese insults, but Van had picked up on them almost immediately when her grandmother had started muttering them under her breath at tourists in Central Park. “I say fuck all the time.” Van shrugged as if it were as simple as that.
“It does get a little swampy, but nothing like New York.” Van wasn’t sure why she felt the urge to bring up that she’d been somewhere other than Wicked’s Rest. Maybe so he didn’t mistake her for some dumb towny. But wasn’t that exactly what she was? It wasn’t even that humid in Maine. “No, probably not.” She wouldn’t really come here if that were the case. She was surprised that he hadn’t asked what she was doing out here alone. Maybe he didn’t care. Probably that. “But it’s nice for right now, so I guess… gotta appreciate it for as long as it lasts, right?”
Zack noticed an uncomfortable shiver go through the girl, like a bad memory or worse prediction for the future. He didn’t say anything, it definitely wouldn’t be his place with a stranger. But he wondered if whatever ran through her wasn’t related to why she was out there, on some beach, alone at night. He hoped not – or hoped it was just some superficial problem that sent her for a moody walk. She was too young to carry a heavy burden, and he would know.
“Nothing wrong with it,” Zack said, “I just felt weird doing it in front of someone so young.” But, apparently she says fuck all the time so no worries there. “Okay, great, fuck be with you.” He made an aborted sketch of the sign of the cross in the air. And then wished powerfully that he did have a cigarette. He thought back to Arden calling herseful awkward and maybe he should apologize for making fun of her. Turned out he had a rather large capacity for awkward himself.
“Right, make the best of it,” he said with a shrug. Peering out over the shore, he pointed. The next coast of World End Island would usually be just visible, but not at night. Some of the lights shone on, though. “I know someone who lives out there. He might know of some…not so crowded beaches. If you, you know. Needed the space.” Zack definitely didn’t think that Levi would want some random resident made privy to his private island. But it stood to reason that he might know about some less populated shores.
“Um, I’m twenty. I’m not even that young.” In the grand scheme of things, she was a child. Van knew that her life experiences were what she battled with on the inside, not in a place where others could see. That, of course, had been on purpose. Even if she cried in public, it wasn’t like they’d ever know what she was crying over. When he cursed, Van’s grin grew. “I don’t know what the hell that was,” she commented, pointing out the half-assed cross he’d tried to draw in the air, “but fuck yeah.”
Van followed the man’s gaze towards the twinkle of lights suspended above the sea. “I’m fine with Vicker’s, or if it’s too busy, Darkling Lake is a good hang.” She looked back up to the company in front of her, grin slightly fading. “Cool that you know someone so rich. Are you rich, too?” She only assumed, because what kind of person could live out on an island like that without a boat? Boats were expensive. Then again, maybe they rode around everywhere in a canoe or kayak.
“Ignore that.” Van cleared her throat and placed her hands on her hips. “Just tell me you won't throw any more matches into the sand and I’ll stop annoying you.” Why she’d taken it upon herself to assist a potentially on-fire individual, or had cared about the match at all, she wasn’t sure. “A sea turtle could eat it, so you gotta be careful.” She had no clue if sea turtles even frequented this beach, or if they laid eggs on it. It didn’t matter, she decided.
Twenty – god. “Right, you’ve been an adult for a whole two years.” At thirty, Zack definitely felt old. It didn’t help that he didn’t feel like he knew himself. Like there was so much about him that he didn’t have the answers too. He envied her in a way. She had the whole of her life, more or less, laid out before her. Zack wished he could go back to twenty. Done more to figure out what was inside of him, instead of just trying to ignore it. Deny that it was there. “It was a…. Never mind,” Zack left his explanation of the sign of the cross where it laid. The bit wasn’t worth trying to explain.
“Darkling Lake?” he asked, noting the name. “Maybe I’ll check that out, if it’s less crowded than this place will get.” That could be a replacement that would work, if Zack ever did try to practice again. A laugh bubbled up at the kid’s next question and he shook his head. “Definitely not. I live over in Worm Row.” Before she took the question back, he added, “But my friend is.” That was the benefit of being a timeless sea demon, he supposed. You got to rack up quite the bank account.
“I promise that I will not throw any more matches in the sand.” Not that he had thrown any in the sand to begin with. And he really didn’t think that it was something that sea turtles would be interested in. But he also didn’t know enough about sea turtles to argue with that. “And I promise to be more careful, okay?”
“I’m Zack, by the way,” he offered, before he made his retreat.
“Two years is a long time.” It had felt like a long time. In the past two years, her entire life had changed, mostly for the worse. And it was still changing, and she was still struggling, but what was she to do? Complain about it to a stranger on the beach? No chance. She’d go online and do that. Van eyed him curiously as he waved away the explanation he was about to give. “Okay, whatever you say.” It felt nice, not having to put up a front, she realized. Her anxieties had somewhat melted away, and maybe it was because of the familiarity of the beach.
“Yeah! There’s a really nice woman that lives there, I got her to watch She-Ra.” She beamed at the stranger, not knowing if he would know what the fuck she was talking about. Van decided she didn’t care, and that maybe she would be pushing the show onto more viewers. Maybe they’d finally get that damn movie. As he explained that he lived in Worm Row, her eyes lit up. “Wait, really? I do too!” It wasn’t the greatest place, but the house her parents had left behind was hard to leave. “That’s cool that you have a rich friend, I guess. You should make him pay for your stuff, since you’re poor.” Milk the rich for all they’re worth, Van wanted to continue, but she held her tongue.
She eyed him suspiciously before relenting with a nod of her head. “Gotta think about the turtles and the crabs.” Van glanced down at their feet, wiggling her toes in the sand that, a few feet forward, would turn into a slight rocky shore. “Zack? I’m Van. Not like the car.” She didn’t stick her hand out for him to shake, mostly because she was pretty sure only old people did that.
“It was nice to meet you, even if you’re a litterer!” She turned on her heel and waved a hand in his direction, heading towards her board and shoes. People were weird, she thought, as she left. And even though she wanted to take his word for it– that it had been a match, she couldn’t help the sinking feeling that there was something else going on; something she didn’t want to address, because it would speak too much truth into her own existence.
