20 questions for fic writers
Tagged by the ever lovely @oliviassunrise - thank you friend!!
1. How many works do you have on AO3?
521
2. What's your total AO3 word count?
as of today i have posted 1,189,141 words, which makes me feel insane!
3. What fandoms do you write for?
i have written for a lot of them, but the current three are the last of us (tess/joel), the hunger games (haymitch/effie), and fringe (peter/olivia).
4. What are your top five fics by kudos?
but home was a dream (one that i'd never seen until you came along) [jopper]
i am still looking (even when i look away) [kate/yelena]
this is home [philinda & philindaisy]
your heart is a masterpiece [melinda & daisy]
how everything still turns to gold [tessjoel]
5. Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?
i do!! i'm terrible at it and usually very late but i cherish every single person who leaves me a comment.
6. What's the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
probably confined, where tess is captured by fireflies and has no hope of escape.
7. What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
probably my tessjoel summer anthology fic!
8. Do you get hate on fics?
not usually? if i do i'll just delete it and move on, tbh.
9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?
i do lmao it is a majority of what i write nowadays if i'm being honest?? i did kinktober and had an absolute blast, especially because i wrote some kinks i never had before.
10. Do you write crossovers? What's the craziest one you've written?
i have! i've written plenty of marvel crossovers, but the silliest one was wayyyy back in my ncis days- i wrote a jenny shepard/bruce wayne crackship fic, haha.
11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?
i don't think so?? if i do i don't know about it lmao
12. Have you ever had a fic translated?
i have not!
13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?
back in my sons of anarchy days i used to rp gemma/clay, does that count?
14. What's your all-time favourite ship?
i'm gonna be honest- i don't have one. i love each ship so deeply in the moment that it always feels like the all-time favorite! like right now, it's tessjoel. but two years ago it was jopper. before that, it was philinda. before that, riverdoctor. and so on, and so forth. i just love what i love, man.
15. What's the WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?
Honestly, my maydaisy + avengers au that has sat unfinished since 2017 haha. i had such a great plan for it and then aos broke my heart and i got discouraged. i really should go back to it because melinda + the avengers is my favorite thing.
16. What are your writing strengths?
description. i have a very flowery writing style that lends itself better to descriptive scenes.
17. What are your writing weaknesses?
starting too many projects for my pea brain to keep up with
18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic?
i've added bits and pieces of other languages to my fics before and it is always after intense googling, haha.
19. First fandom you wrote for?
NCIS, for my beloved jenny/gibbs <3
20. Favourite fic you've ever written?
this is so tough!! i have been writing for nearly half my life now so i've written so much. but i really really loved i lost a part of me out there, a tessjoel time travel au borrowed from one of my favorite tessjoel writer's verses. i think it's some of my favorite writing ever. but also the jopper marriage law fic (my top kudos fic) is my absolute pride and joy.
tagging @wardenannie @sassymajesty @professortennant @wistfulwatcher and anyone that wants to do this <333

Is it your first time watching Season 3 of Stranger Things? What are your thoughts?! I would love to know!
It is!! I'm watching it with my family so it's slower, but i'm loving it so far!
ok so i replied to this with a very long post but then my laptop crashed and i lost it 💀💀 let's see what i can remember of my thoughts and what i wrote skjfdsk (<- crying)
Steve and Robin's scene 🥺🥺 I want to cry, give me a friendship like theirs. They're the lesbian/himbo duo we needed. Robin?? talented, brilliant, incredible, amazing, I relate to her so much. Steve??? He's the Most Character, dumb of ass but pure of heart. He won his first fight!! :D
I'm so sad about Alexei and he was in only like 2 episodes. At least he got to be happy for a while :( give him his cherry slushie
EL MY BELOVED ARE YOU OKAY?!?1 That thing in her leg looks so bad and she's been using her powers a lot, i need to know if she's okay aaaa i'm worried
I'm also so sad about Will having to let go of a childhood he didn't really get to live and his friends because they already moved on. That scene hit me so hard and brought back memories. LET. HIM. PLAY. DND. WITH. HIS. FRIENDS
Those blobs are absolutely disgusting, I was trying to eat while watching 😭😭💀 My brother and I send each other messages like "hrmmm slorp" and "cronch" every time they appear and it's so funny but also I hate it
Joyce and Hopper are like a divorced couple and i'm so glad they're finally accepting their feelings! Idk if Joyce is ready for a romantic relationship after Bob's death but my mom ships them so hard and so do I. I swear I haven't seen her ship a couple so hard since philinda.
This ended up being very long too 😂😂 I can't wait for the finale. I'll probably make a post when I do but for now, these are the thoughts I remember :)

Philinda? :0
Ship It
What made you ship it?
Phil cleaning the wound on Melinda's shoulder in TRACKS. The look on her face just sold that for me. (even the music got shippy). They way they had this history and connection and really understood each other.
Also "You mean a lot to me, a lot" - Melinda's everything and I never doubted she loved him, so that meant everything.
What are your favorite things about the ship?
Mutual respect, looking after each other, not being afraid to call each other out when they make mistakes. The way they just seem connected and cared about each other so deeply even tough they never got it right.
Is there an unpopular opinion you have on your ship?
They should have babies (I don't know if that's unpopular?). Phil dying not dying becoming an LMD and then Melinda losing her feelings is a terrible arc and the ending is terrible. Season 4 is great. LMD Melinda is great. There's a lot of great in there but a lot of mess and unexplored potential. (that's probably not an unpopular opinion.

Hi! I've been looking for writers of agents of shield but I can't seem to find any good ones on Tumblr. Do you have anyone you can recommend? I started watching shield a few months ago and I'm on s7 now and I wanna read fics cause soon it will be over and I don't want it to be 😭
Welcome to the fandom!! I am so glad you asked, cause I have so many that I love. Here are some of my favourite writers for the AoS fandom, as well as some of their fics that really I recommend:
TryingToBe: Beautifully written fics and character studies. I personally love her fic Reclaim.
samanthaswishes: Lots of fantastic Daisy-centred fics, and my favourite AU, A Miracle Starts With a Beat of a Heart.
momentofchaos: The best coffee shop AU that I've read, Brought Me to You, as well as other great works.
tessathetesla: A lot of really sweet Philinda and Bus Kids content.
lazyfish: Mostly short fics with every possible ship you could want.
Book_freak: Lots of lovely one shots with a lot of fluff.
Sanctuaria: I especially love this season 7 collection of fics.
This should keep you entertained for a while. 😅 If anyone else knows any other AoS fanfics that you'd like to include, please feel free to add onto this.
Hope this helps you and anyone else looking for fics in the fandom, but before you read, I recommend watching season 7 first, cause there are a lot of spoilers in some of these. Enjoy! 😊💚

I'm curious, what did you wish was different about Daisy and Lincoln's storyline? (that you mentioned in the tag game)
Oh did you just mean you wished Lincoln hadn't died? lol sorry its really late here and I'm tired😂 😅 Same with Philinda? Or was it something else?
(NOTE: this will criticize s3, staticquake, lincoln, and philinda, Even though I do not hate the character or the ships at all, I just wish they were given more development and that some things were differen. I love the characters and the ships though andw think they deserved better)
Okay so no, it's not that I wished Lincoln didn't die, it's just that I wish their romantic relationship was handled differently, and I wish Lincoln's character was as well.
I really loved their friendship and dynamic in s2, and I won't lie, I found myself shipping them. In s2, it actually made sense for them to eventually develop a romantic relationship. and they were cute.
But then in s3, they really weren't given enough focus properly (even though they should've been because she's the main character and it should be the main romantic relationship...) And there's the whole 'shield is apparently right'. Jiaying and the inhumans were completely right in s2 and even Daisy 100% saw that. But Jiaying had to be the villain and shield had to be the good guy so they made her 'evil'. And the inhumans lost their safe place and their lives, and now even more inhumans started popping up, ones who didn't know how to control their powers.
At the end of season 2, we're told that shield is going to help inhumans and Daisy will be in charge of the project. This isn't long after Raina said that Daisy was the one who would lead the inhumans.
the aos writers completely messed this up, and it really affected any possible relationship between Daisy and Lincoln from being a truly good one that could last long-term.
Of all the inhumans that appeared in s3, they either joined shield as agents, or they died. Joey eventually stopped with shield but we never heard from him again.
LINCOLN, was made to join shield, even though he did not want to at all. I know there was crap going on with Lash and the ATCU and all, but the ending of s2 and the chemistry between staticquake made me think that while shield was help out with inhumans, a new type of afterlife would be built to try to help inhumans and reintegrate them into society. Daisy would be the leader of it and Lincoln by her side doing what he does best. He's a doctor who specializes in inhumans. He would help them like he helped Daisy. Something he was content with in s2. A new afterlife didn't even need to happen. We just needed Daisy and Lincoln on the same side, and to agree. Something that literally did not happen throughout their entire relationship.
Look it makes sense for him to want nothing to do with any of it after what happened in s2, but after he literally joins shield for protection, THAT's when he should've gotten more involved.
Instead we get "maybe an inhuman cure that would erase who they were is good." Daisy, after finally accepting who she is, and after having to deal with her whole team acting like working with the atcu that literally locks up inhumans like animals is a-okay, now has to deal with the fucking guy who was all 'it's not a curse, it's a gift' say THAT. And she's the one made to apologize for it.
Her saying (paraphrased) "just because you went to med school doesn't mean someone like me can't have an opinion about human rights" wasn't isn't even an insult at all, and yet his reply is to basically undermine her entire traumatic and unstable childhood. "At least I didn't hack my way through life" what the hell man. That was so uncalled for. And it had nothing to do with the situation. It was literally changing the subject in the worse way possible. Like, it makes it sound as if Daisy never actually accomplished anything? and again, he DIDN'T APOLOGIZE. SHE DID. SHE went to him and apologized. I'd chalk it up to 'a moment's anger' but that only works if you apologize for it.
and then the rest of their relationship is Lincoln not wanting to be with shield, which yeah I completely understand, but Daisy is a shield agent. No way would their rl last long term because they want complete different things from life. And clearly the writers were never going to actually make her lead inhumans. I guess being the leader of a four-person team for one episode is what they meant.
Then we get the hive incident, and Lincoln being obsessive, and when Daisy gets back, he doesn't even visit her, and then: Death.
yeah, they definitely needed better storylines in s3. I don't want to say it was 'rushed' because that's not the right term, but also there was so much antagonism between Daisy and Lincoln due to Lincoln wanting NOTHING to do with her in the beginning of the season and them suddenly kissing and then like a few days later the crap with Hive happening, and Lincoln hinting at taking a a break and eventually Lincoln dying without their relationship getting any kind of resolution or closure, that their relationship felt doomed from the start. I went from happily shipping them in s2 and wanting more of them, to waiting for them to break up and remain friends throughout s3. And then he died so that was that. I guess killing him off was easier for the writers because they could use the angst and Daisy leaving shield for s4.
I guess the bottom line is that 1) I wish Daisy had had a boyfriend who was more supportive, especially right after hive. Lincoln of s2 would've been, 100%, but the writers wanted him to be edgyier. Because I guess edgy and pained white men is what they think makes a better rl (look at fitzsimmons). 2) I wish we'd gotten Lincoln and Daisy actually actively looking out for and helping inhumans together. Didn't Lincoln like literally try to kill a few other inhumans? I know with Lash it was because he'd killed his friends, and with the other inhuman girl it was to find Daisy, but we varely even saw Lincoln interact with other inhumans except for Joey and Yoyo, and that episode ended with all of them fighting.
Like imagine if we'd gotten a few scenes of Lincoln helping out Joey or Yoyo (like he did with Skye, teaching them not to fear their gift) and then scenes of Daisy teaching them how to control. We literally got a scene in s5 of Simmons teaching a young girl how to use her gift, but nothing like that with Daisy? really? Joey just gets training off screen and he ends up barely interacting with Daisy outside of the first episode, and Elena already mastered her powers when she appears. And they screw up her friendship with Elena eventually. Like, inhumans loving and supporting each other in the show happened SO rarely, and it could've been something that Daisy and Lincoln created instead. a safe place for inhumans and them actively challenging the atcu.
With Philinda, Maybe during s2 it would've worked to start showing us that they were into each other, but then they brought in Andrew and Rosalind. Bringing in Andrew wouldn't have been a problem since they were divorced, but then we got the whole 'May wants to get back with him" which I was all on board for, but like with staticquake, that was destroyed in s3. Not only was May x Andrew doomed that season, but Coulson also found another love and both May and Coulson lost someone they loved and at that point, there was too much drama for me to get into it. It doesn't help that we don't get a clear idea of just when Coulson apparently decided he really likes May that way. In s4, he kisses her robot which I was not expecting that conversation at all. And it was gross. Then in s5, we get May loving Coulson back, but only after we find out Coulson is dying.
Philinda could've worked and been great if it had had more development in the earlier seasons, but aos writers decided making them get together right before Coulson would die was better instead. So yeah, I would've shipped them and cared more about their relationship if they had had different storylines. (don't even get me started on Sarge, and LMD coulson)
sorry this got so long and I got carried away with other points outside of the ships lol. I'm pretty sure everything I said was controversial. 😅😅😅

Academy Blues
sometimes you punch the bag, sometimes to bag punches you
word count: 4.5k
warnings: none. heavy handed use of italics
ship: Dousy (Daniel Sousa/Daisy Johnson), background Fitzsimmons and Philinda
ahaha.. and the fun begins (the cryptic-ness is for a reason i promise)
Tumblr media
“Ow!!” Daisy exclaimed. This was the second time today she had gotten distracted and let the punching bag swing into her. Sans Bobbi or Mack, her usual workout partners, there was no one to hold the bag still while she was pummeling it. Her side of the gym was entirely void of people, most opting to use the treadmills or other cardio machines lining the wall of large windows that faced the forest to the south, or stick to circuits on the resistance machines throughout the middle of the gym. The universe seemed to be telling her to get in some boxing, so she walked over to the bag with the intention of punching until her arms hurt.
Now her nose hurts, too.
“You need a spot?” May asked, silently crossing the padded floor to Daisy.
She nodded. Waiting for May to get into position, Daisy stretched out her arms over her head and across her body, twisting her torso to feel her abs stretch. When May gave her a thumbs up, Daisy started to punch the heavy bag again, this time with a little more force now that she knew it wouldn’t fly back and hit her in the face.
“Something on your mind?”
“No,” Daisy grunted. “Just slacked off the last few weeks. With everyone gone on break there wasn’t as much of... everything, I guess, to keep me in a routine.”
May nodded. “Breaks can be tough. No classes, schedule disrupted, more free time than you know what to do with. I get it. If you ever want a time-filler, text and I’ll be there.”
Daisy nodded, going back to silently punching. The breaks weren’t all bad. They only happened eight times a year, five two-week breaks and three three-week breaks. Enough time that those with families and lives outside of SHIELD could visit and vacation, but not fall behind. Plus, it gave Daisy the campus pretty much to herself. Only about forty students stayed at The Academy over breaks, and it seemed to decrease every time.
Another good thing about breaks was that Daisy got to know more people personally. Whether it was how the tall, fifth-year red head took her morning coffee or that the new group of first-years liked to run the same trails through the forest as she did. So, when an entirely new face had cropped up out of nowhere, Daisy was intrigued. He walked with a limp, had nice hair and kind eyes. She didn’t recognize him, and despite the fact that he had arrived the same day as the rest of the first-years, he was definitely the oldest of the pack. That was unusual, Daisy had thought, SHIELD almost always recruits directly out of high school or college. The last time anyone over the age of twenty-five had been accepted to the Academy was when Daisy herself had started. However, that was a bit of a… special situation.
Every morning, New Guy crossed through the computer lab and waved, smiling confidently at Daisy. His sudden appearance and amicable interactions confused her. Classes weren’t in session, but he always had a backpack with him. Maybe he had tutoring with one of the professors? A new student trying to catch up before the term even began — an enigma.
Once classes had started, he still came by everyday. Daisy liked to think it was because he wanted to see her. They had never spoken more than tired greetings to each other, and yet Daisy felt herself pulled towards him. She shook off the thought. It made her skin crawl, thinking about the last time she felt such a magnetic attraction to someone.
She realized May was studying her through the mirrors lining the wall next to the row of punching bags. She cleared her throat and asked, “Is my form okay?”
May gave her a long look that clearly said, ‘You know that your form is fine.’
Daisy pulled her eyes away from May’s stare, announcing, “I’m going to fill up my water, do you need any?”
May shook her head, pulling out her phone.
Daisy bent down to grab her water and headed to the back of the gym, towards the locker rooms. A couple of reusable bottle-filler stations were stuck into the wall, right next to the PT rooms. Daisy couldn’t help but peer into the closest one as she listened to the sound of water streaming into her bottle. It was filled with floor ladders, yoga balls, sports med supplies... New Guy. Huh.
Wondering why he would be sitting in a dark PT room by himself, Daisy took a swig of her water before continuing to fill it up. He hopped off the table as the lights came on, a young doctor-type walking in a smiling. She was reminded of his limp when he walked towards her, shaking her hand and flashing a large smile. Cute, Daisy noticed. Wait, no, what?
Daisy promptly turned and headed back to the wall of mirrors, choosing to ignore the smirk on May’s face.
“Ready?” Daisy asked.
“Actually,” May began, “Why don’t we get in some sparring? You’ve been at this for over an hour.”
Daisy caught the glance May threw at the half-assed wraps on her hands and nodded. With only a few jitters, Daisy quickly helped May unroll the sparring mats onto the floor. Daisy had only sparred with Yo-Yo since she got back from Columbia visiting her cousin. Sparring with May was an entirely different level.
After some warm-up drills, May silently took charge and got into a fighting stance. Daisy rose up on her tip-toes, then rocked backwards. The grey padding beneath her looked a lot softer than it felt while being slammed onto it. A quick lunge from Daisy and a swift deflection by May, and the two women were off.
Across the gym, Daniel Sousa and the doctor were chatting, watching Daisy and May.
“They look like they’re barely breaking a sweat,” Daniel commented after May leaped off Daisy’s leg, flipping forwards and attempting to grab Daisy around the shoulders. Daisy rolled backward, throwing May over her and getting to her feet as the shorter woman jumped up into a wide stance.
“You’ll get back to that level,” The physical therapist assured him.
Daniel shook his head. “Maybe. I hope so. If not, I’m a damn good shot, anyway.”
The doctor chuckled before motioning back to the PT room. “C’mon, you still have thirty minutes stuck with me before I release you from daily therapy.”
“It’s only been three weeks?” Daniel questioned, confused. They walked through a black door to a small room. Grey cabinets on one side, a black table on the other, physical therapy tools lined up in organized sections.
“Most of which was just assessing you. You already know the exercises and stretches, and you completed the physical therapy recommended by your primary care physician before you came to us. You have the strength mostly back in your residual limb, at least to the point where sparring shouldn’t do any damage. I still expect you to show up at least twice a week. Especially since you’re starting field training with May.”
He smiled. “How do you know about that?”
“I have access to your file, Sousa,” She reminded him, “I also know you were late to her class on the first day. Not a smart move, in my opinion.”
Daniel cringed at the memory of heads turning his way, watching him limp to the only open seat in the very front. May’s comment— “Thoughtful of you to join us, Agent Sousa,” —still turned his face a slightly embarrassing shade of red when he thought about it.
Noticing his uncomfortable silence, the physical therapist put on a sympathetic face. “I’m sure you’ll be fine. I was late to my first class, too. Professor Martin, advanced physiology. Granted, I was seventeen...”
Daniel playfully glared at her.
“...but I suppose that’s no excuse. Let’s get started.”
The rest of the day went by without Daisy or Daniel seeing much of each other besides a fleeting glimpse while changing classes. Not that they were looking for the other, or anything.
A few hours later, before dinner, Daisy was sitting on the counter in the girls’ dorm bathroom, watching Jemma curl her hair.
Jemma Simmons was one of the only people she immediately loved at SHIELD, and the first person she had trusted on Coulson’s team. Over the course of a couple months, they became closer than Daisy had ever been with anyone, spending almost every waking moment together. Over time, Daisy had grown to love the rest of the team, too, learning that they had also been hand picked by Coulson. Though, technically, Daisy hadn’t been chosen for the team. She was picked up as a consultant. But it didn’t matter, as the ragtag team had quickly been disbanded.
Knives shoved into your back can have that effect.
After the end of the team, Code-named Bus Kids, Daisy, Fitzsimmons, Tripp, and May and Coulson had come to the Academy to continue working with SHIELD. Daisy and Tripp were assigned as partners in their ops training, Fitzsimmons were partners in the lab, and May and Coulson still checked on them as if nothing had changed.
But people get busy, and it had been awhile since Jemma and Daisy had properly talked to each other.
“Does the bruise on my nose look like it’ll go away any time soon?”
Jemma glanced up through the mirror, shrugging. “It should. What did you do to it?”
Daisy fiddled with her hands, only answering when Jemma turned to face her fully.
“I kinda, uhm, got punched...”
The stern look Jemma gave Daisy quickly melted into laughter as the brunette added, “...by a punching bag.”
Reaching up to turn Daisy’s face towards the fluorescent bathroom lighting, Jemma gently ran a finger along the angry red splotch on the top of Daisy’s nose. She jerked her head a bit, wincing at the contact.
“You should be fine, I’ll grab some of the good anti-inflammatory meds from the medical storage.”
Daisy thanked her, hopping off the counter to grab an eyeliner pen. “So, how is Fitz? Is this a real date night or are you guys ‘just hanging out’?”
Jemma smiled at his name and rubbed her neck. Daisy smiled back at the subconscious reaction.
“You two are so meant for each other,” She teased.
Jemma tilted her face up towards Daisy, allowing her to start applying eyeliner.
“He hasn’t really defined it. We’re ‘going out’, but we aren’t dating.”
Daisy finished the subtle cat eye, shaking her head. When would he learn that Jemma would only believe they were together if he said, ‘Hey, Jems, I’m completely and totally in love with you and I want you and I to live happily ever after!’
Daisy watched Jemma inspect herself in the mirror, touching up her mascara.
“You look amazing. He’s a fool if he doesn’t see it,” Daisy assured.
Jemma smiled. Her Sheffield accent had gotten thicker over break, Daisy noticed, as Jemma responded, “He does, I know he does. We both just have trouble, you know? Voicing our thoughts and feelings.”
Daisy definitely knew…
“Well, he could do with a good reminder sometimes. If y’all are going to keep going on these not-dates, you might as well show him what he’s missing by staying just friends!”
Jemma laughed, smiling gratefully. She took one final look in the mirror, swishing her knee-length royal blue dress and fluffing her hair. “Okay, well, off I go. Have a good night, Daisy.”
Daisy gave her a thumbs up and went to watch out her window as Fitz handed Jemma a hand-picked bouquet of (slightly squished) wildflowers and took her arm to lead her to the parking lot.
Daisy sighed and turned away from the gold and pink sunset. She opened her personal laptop, immediately bombarded by three windows running programs. One was running an innocent algorithm to clean all the useless, unused files from her computer, one was a simulation that could (hypothetically, no harm no foul) hack the Pentagon, and another was trying to find video and audio feed from Los Angeles, four months ago.
Daisy’s gaze lingered on the last one, not expecting anything new. She sighed and picked up her laptop, deciding to go visit Mack in the garage. It was only seven on a Friday, he’d probably be there working on the run-down, close to falling apart Harley he had bought off an old friend for $200. Mack had been working on it for months. Daisy wasn’t even sure it had half its original parts.
A short trip across the grounds and a trek over a winding path cut through a field of thick tallgrass later, Daisy arrived at the garage.
The monstrous steel and concrete building was like a plane hangar and mechanics lab forged into one. Workstations around the edge were strewn with tools, motors, and half-finished pieces of tech. Shining black SHIELD vehicles and even two quinjets sat in the middle, outlined by rectangular blocks of tape and paint. Catwalks crossed the upper level so that mechanics could reach the tops of planes when necessary, though SHIELD planes hardly ever came to The Academy unless they were being used for a lesson.
Daisy followed the sounds of tinkering and the quietly moving shadows to Mack’s workstation. She carefully leaned against a nearby SHIELD van, not wanting to interrupt his work.
Now, to say that Mack wasn’t easily frightened was an understatement. Daisy had hardly ever seen the muscled giant of a man so much as jump. Ever since discovering this, Daisy had taken every opportunity to try to scare Mack. It was not going great.
Daisy pulled out her phone, silently thumbing through emails and checking Instagram. She was about to walk over and tap him on the shoulder when Mack turned around and screamed.
Clutching his chest, Mack exclaimed, “Tremors, what the hell?!”
“I just wanted to come check in,” Daisy giggled, happy that she had finally snuck up on Mack.
Mack stood with his hands on his hips, smiling wide, before cocking one thick eyebrow and gesturing at her face.
“What happened to your nose?”
“Punching bag won this morning,” She shrugged.
Mack shook his head, laughing in a deep rumble. “You wanna help me with this?” He asked, pointing to the small device on his desk.
She didn’t answer, just reached out to take a small screwdriver from Mack’s very large hand. He showed her how to twist it to create leverage without it slipping while he messed with some wires, and eventually he seemed satisfied.
“Have you eaten dinner?” Mack asked casually.
Daisy nodded, her grumbling stomach betraying her.
Mack eyed her up and down. “Sure. Well, I’m hungry, so let's get something to eat and then we can take the bikes out.”
Daisy liked the feeling of being on a bike, the wind in her hair and steady vibrations from the engine soothing her ever-present headache. Ever since this revelation, if Mack went out on his motorcycle, he invited Daisy to ride with him.
At first, Daisy had been skeptical. What was so great about a two-wheel speeding death trap? One of her best friends had driven a gleaming 1969 Dodge Charger, and she had enjoyed riding with the windows down, but it still wasn’t the absolute best experience of her life, like most motorcyclists claimed a ride could be. However, once Daisy had finally taken Mack up on his offer, she was never hesitant to accept another invitation.
In the canteen, Mack piled a plate high with salad ingredients and baked spaghetti, scooping some off into a bowl for Daisy once he got back to the table. She took a fork and picked at it, chewing the crisp lettuce slowly.
Once they were both finished, Mack put his plate and utensils on the circling dish belt. He let Daisy lead the way back to the garage. She immediately grabbed two helmets and Mack’s gloves.
“That leather jacket gonna be enough to keep you warm? I have a couple old flannels in my bag if you want one.” Mack offered.
Daisy picked at a loose thread on the worn black jacket, nodding and throwing a ‘Thanks’ over her shoulder. She quickly rifled through his duffel bag, pulling out a faded black and blue flannel and shrugging it on under her jacket.
Mack mounted his black and silver bike, Daisy choosing a smaller SHIELD one. She kicked the kickstand back with her foot, finding her balance. She followed Mack as he revved the engine and took off out of the garage. Daisy heard him speak into the helmet’s mic.
“I upgraded the bikes, bigger tires and a better visor. It’s more efficient. Plus, when I’m out on the highway, cars don’t push me around.”
Daisy gave him a thumbs up, focusing on the feeling of air flowing around her. She sped up as she reached the road. She felt as if she was flying high into the air, fighting the laws of physics. On the back roads surrounding the Academy, as familiar as the back of her hand, Daisy relaxed and let herself fall into autopilot.
She heard Mack in her ear, still talking about the bike. She had heard it all before, but there was something centering about listening to Mack retell the evolution of his bike for the hundredth time, like a kid who begged to hear the same bedtime story every night.
It was freeing, speeding down a deserted road on the bike, stars above and pavement below. Pine trees reached for the sky on each side of her. Shrubbery and grass waved to Mack and Daisy as they raced forward.
A slight burn pricked her eyes that she knew wasn’t from the wind. Daisy needed this after a stressful first couple weeks back in class. To be honest, it was what she needed all the time. Daisy was exhausted. Her powers may not be visible, but they were always on, always bouncing around her body. Times like these, though, Daisy felt free. Releasing the constant grip she had on her self-control, she let the vibrations of the engine flow through her. Slowly, surely, Daisy let her guard down. A whispering warble crept into her ears over the wind. She could feel the way the pavement below and the humid late-August air around her absorbed the miniscule quakes, bouncing lightly off the tall trees like a quiet laugh reflecting off the walls of an echo-chamber.
About an hour later, Daisy and Mack were rolling back into the garage. Daisy couldn’t hide the slight redness in her eyes, but the smile on her face told Mack he didn’t need to worry. The pair silently did maintenance on the motorcycles, re-fueling them for later use and checking for any loose parts on Daisy’s.
Daisy headed back to campus, refusing Mack’s offer to walk her back to the dorms. She would be fine on her own. Besides, Jems might be back by now, she could ask about Fitzsimmons’ date. Or she could wait until breakfast tomorrow and tease them both.
Daisy stopped in her tracks. Out of the corner of her eye, a shadow slipped behind a building. Daisy felt her back tense, her hands curling into fists.
Any remainder of twilight light had faded while Mack and Daisy maintenanced the bikes. Daisy couldn’t imagine that any of the trainees that went to parties at the nearby universities were back yet, but no student in their right mind would want to simply walk around the dark campus of the Academy.
She kept walking, more alert. No sounds apart from her steady breathing and the rustle of grass beneath her feet reached her ears. She walked slowly toward where the shadow had disappeared. It looked as if it was headed to the biochem building. Daisy raised her hands, quietly running towards the white building, slightly crouched. She circled it once, twice, before deciding she had been imagining things, the shadow was only a trick of the light. It seemed so real though, so solid…
Daisy shook her head and crossed the courtyard, heading towards the dorms. It was late, and she had important things to do tomorrow. She was probably just tired from her ride with Mack.
Behind her, unnoticed by Daisy, the shadow quickly crossed the field behind the biochem building, slinking into the tallgrass.
The next day, Daisy woke to the sound of her alarm blaring 90’s RnB at six thirty AM, sharp. She quickly shut it off and stared at the ceiling for a moment before groaning and dragging herself out of bed. She hadn’t gotten much sleep last night after her encounter with the shadow.
The sun was slowly ascending in the sky, golden light filtering into her windows. It was early, but she didn’t have the energy to go workout. Instead, Daisy stretched on her bed and sent a quick text to Jemma asking to meet up later to gossip about her date.
She grabbed shorts and a cropped sweatshirt, quickly dressing and making her way to the bathroom. She clipped her hair back, brushed her teeth, washed her face and headed back to her room. Trying her best to cover the bruise that had turned from red-violet to a blue-ish tinted black, she did minimal makeup. It’s not like it could get any worse, she thought bitterly. The concealer wasn’t much use.
Deciding to ignore the bruise, Daisy stood up, grabbed her backpack with her personal laptop and journal and headed to the canteen.
There weren’t many students around campus this early in the morning. Most were either asleep or nursing a hangover in their dorms. A few dedicated trainees were scattered amongst the different buildings, either in the gym or studying on their favourite bench. Daisy made a beeline for the canteen, hoping that no one had drank all the fresh coffee yet.
She slipped through the doors, sending small smiles to the students she made eye-contact with, faltering when her roving gaze reached a set of twinkling eyes the color of coffee. Maybe, she thought, I should go over and talk to him. What’s the worst that can happen?
She quickly poured herself a cup of coffee and grabbed a cinnamon raisin bagel from the pastry cart. Checking to be sure he wasn’t sitting with anyone (she wouldn’t want to intrude), Daisy walked around to the back of the large room, sitting in a spot diagonal from him.
After a few minutes of silence where Daisy ate her bagel and pretended not to feel his eyes on her, she turned and faced him.
“Good morning,” she said.
He dipped his head and raised his paper cup of coffee at the same time in response.
Does he not want to talk to me? Daisy questioned herself. She tried again. “So, is the coffee good?” He glanced at her cup that she had been sipping. Daisy recovered, “You know, in your opinion. I love the coffee here, the slightly burned aftertaste goes well with cream and sugar.΅
To her relief, he smiled. “Yeah, it’s good. I don’t usually use cream or sugar.”
Daisy raised her eyebrows, impressed. “Ah, more of a bare necessities, no-nonsense guy?”
His nose scrunched a little in thought, as if he was assessing his entire personality to see if it aligned with Daisy’s coffee psychology. He nodded finally, elaborating, “I was in the army. Most of us drank it black while deployed. I never got out of the habit. But, to answer your question, I like to think of myself as low maintenance.”
He sent her a small smile that had her insides melting just a bit. Daisy hid behind the rim of her coffee cup, trying to think of a response. Luckily, New Guy saved her.
“How do you drink your coffee?”
Daisy lowered her own paper cup, clearing her throat. “One half and half, just a bit of sugar. If I’m super tired I’ll add more.”
“So you probably adapt easily and have a deep hunger for answers to all your questions?”
Daisy’s eyes quickly flicked down to her coffee, wondering if her coffee order really exposed that much about her. Daniel laughed, his shoulders shaking with mirth. “I’m kidding. I noticed how you’re always in the computer lab before class, and Yo-Yo told me that you use that time to research.”
Daisy felt a blush creep up her neck. Yo-Yo knew New Guy? And gave him information about her schedule?
Daniel quickly explained, “We see each other in the halls a lot. And we have a class together. She noticed me in the lab and thought I knew you.”
Daisy relaxed. Yo-Yo had become increasingly more friendly to strangers the longer she spent at the Academy.
“I remember the first time I met her. She was so angry that SHIELD had stopped her from exposing the police in her city as corrupt. Our team was sent in to help her finish what she had started, destroy weapons and take down the corrupt members of the department. It was fun,” She chuckled.
Daniel watched her through his thin clear-frame glasses. She winced a little as her nose scrunched with laughter, recalling another story about a mission gone awry that Yo-Yo saved.
“How did you get that bruise?”
“What?”
He pointed to the spot on his face that mirrored the position of the bruise on hers. “The bruise. It looks like it hurts.”
Daisy shrugged, “Not as badly as getting shot. But you know, sometimes you punch the bag, sometimes the bag punches you.”
Despite the playful nature of the statement, Daniel couldn’t help but hear alarm bells in the back of his mind. She had been shot?!
Daisy noticed the change in Daniel’s demeanor and switched tactics, “It’s just a bruise. I wasn’t paying attention and the punching bag flew back and hit me in the face.”
Daniel laughed, becoming more and more intrigued with the enigma sitting across from him. Well, at least this enigma was beautiful, even if she had lost a fight to a punching bag.
A look of pure confusion overtook Daisy’s features. “Excuse me?”
Daniel’s face flushed bright red. He said that out loud. Daisy was still smiling though, Daniel let out a nervous chuckle. The two lapsed into an awkward silence. Daisy was finishing her bagel when he spoke up again.
“It was good talking to you,” he said softly.
Daisy’s eyes wandered his face with an unreadable expression. “Yeah, it was.”
He resisted the urge to offer to walk Daisy to wherever she was going as she headed out of the doors of the canteen, coffee with one half and half and pinch of sugar in hand.

ooo for the movie/tv show ask game: agents of shield or avengers [the first one?]
[hope ur having a good day!!!]
thank you so much for the ask!! hope you're having a good day too!
for agents of shield:
favourite male character: lance hunter
favourite female character: daisy johnson
least favourite character: fitz. also talbot (if you're an aos fan and you think: how could someone ever dislike fitz?! look through the anti fitz tag. tis a spicy and enlightening place my dudes). also I've recently really started to dislike deke. not as much as fitz and talbot, but he's worth mentioning
prettiest character: daisy
funniest character: hunter
favourite season: season 2 hands down
favourite episode: ahhh how to choose one?? s2 ep 18 is probably up there for me, because i loved the dynamic of coulson, fitz, and hunter running around vibing and breaking the law while daisy learned about her past. i also love s1 ep 11 where skye goes off on her own and is badass, and ep 13 in that season was super spicy (the train one where skye gets shot). also all the stuff later in that season where they're living in a motel together?? perfection.
favourite romantic ship: that's tough. honestly Dousy (Daisy x Sousa) really grew on me because the respect and care Sousa has for Daisy?? Especially after a lot of the team has just disregarded her trauma and let her down?? I just think they're really well balanced and wonderful
favourite family ship: ahh they're all a family so that's hard, but oh my STARS i love philinda being daisy's parents. I'm especially here for daisy and coulson's relationship
favourite friend ship: daisy and mack. they're also techinically a family ship since he's kind of like her brother but stars I love them. also, the brief trip and daisy friendship was the absolute best
worst ship: fitzsimmons. also deke x daisy. just...ew. and obviously skyeward is problematic as frick, discounting framework skyeward (which isn't even technically real soooo)

Rules: Answer the questions and tag people you want to get to know better/catch up with.
Really quick, I want to apologize for not doing this sooner. I only just barely got back on tumblr after being absent for a couple years. Thanks for tagging me!
Three ships: Um... there's so many to pick from, but I think these three are the ones I'm shipping the hardest right now: Lena Luthor and Kara Danvers from Supergirl - romantically, platonically, I don't really care so long as they're together in some form or capacity; Phil Coulson and Melinda May from Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. - who can't help but love these two idiots who've dances around eachother for years until finally going for it? I read way too much fanfiction about these two, probably way more than is healthy...; Hermione Granger and Severus Snape from Harry Potter - this one is much more unconventional, and most people probably won't get it and may even be disgusted by it, but these two just make so much sense to me, more than most other Hermione Granger pairings. I'm especially fond of fanfiction that has them reconnecting years after Hogwarts where he's had time to put distance between himself and memories of the great Wizarding war, and she's had time to grow into her own. If your still not convinced and giving me a disturbed look, bite me. *sticks tongue at you in a totally mature fashion*

Last song: Cecilia and the Satelitte by Andrew McMahon in the Wilderness. I don't have any special thoughts about this song, but this was one of the many songs I first heard on Supergirl that are now a part of my everyday playlist. Like seriously, the music choices on that show are fantastic, and the aesthetics they enhance are enchanting.
Last movie:  The Man From U.N.C.L.E. (2015)- this was technically the last show I watched, although I only watched bits and pieces of it this time (I've seen it 3 times so far) I absolutely love this movie though! It made me laugh so hard so many times, and I can't help but grin like an idiot thinking about it.
The last movie that I've actually sat down and watched all the way through was How To Train Your Dragon. I'm a 2000 baby, so this came out when I was a kid, and it quickly became my favorite movie. Since then, I've grown up, and had my favorite movie change a few times, but this is still hands down my favorite kids show, and I totally grin like an idiot the whole time I'm watching it.

Currently watching: I'm kind of everywhere at the moment. I'm watching Supergirl season 4 and trying to plow through all the angst of it and season 5 so I can get to what looks to be a slightly less angsty season 6 (At least between Kara and Lena). I'm also showing my husband Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. for the first time, and gosh did I not really like some of season 5 or season 6, but it's necessary to see them so you can watching the freaking amazing season 7. Also, I'm watching BBC's 1989 Poirot. I only recently discovered the Agatha Christie books, and have quickly fallen in love with them, so of course I have to watch the bloody TV show!

Currently craving:  Some more well-written Supercorp, Philinda, or BAMF Hermione Granger fanfiction that I haven't read already. Seriously, if anyone has any recommendations, please hit me up!
Currently reading: I'm currently listening to Crooked House by Agatha Christie, and I'm reading Emma by Jane Austen to my younger sister Emma. Also any fanfiction I come across lol...

Fic Writer Review
Ok, I could’ve sworn I was tagged by @aleksandrachaev but now the notification has disappeared? Idk what the hellsite is up to by making me think I have notifications, but I’m going to do this anyway 😂 😂 . I haven’t looked too closely at my stats and everything in a while, so this will be fun!
1. how many works do you have on AO3?
77. But please don’t ask about the number of WIPs I have  😅
2. what’s your total AO3 word count?
208,442. Huh. I thought it would be more? Oh well!
3. how many fandoms have you written for and what are they?
Three. One random one shot for each ER and T100. The rest are all AoS!
Actually, wait. Since Kat says (and I agree whole heartedly!) that Black Widow is it’s own fandom, then make that 4! I wrote a one shot of an alternate end credit scene for that movie!
4. what are your top 5 fics by kudos? (I’m not including the ones I have cowritten)
Everything’s Changing 372 Kudos-  Talk about a wild idea I had watching a movie from the 90s. Anywayyyy. Philinda and Philindaisy moments. Lots of fluff. (which if you know me, you know I do more angst these days.  😂)
We’ve Come a Long Way from Where We Began 265 kudos - Aww! The first thing I ever wrote! Lots of May and Daisy moments and they work t reunite their team. (But also I now refuse to read this because I can see how much my writing has improved since then, and now I get mad at previous me 😂)
A Bad *Axe* Birthday 177 Kudos- May gives Daisy an axe for her birthday, and teaches her to throw it. Because to quote Rosa Diaz from B99 “What kind of woman doesn’t have an axe?”
I Took You for Granted 150 Kudos- TBH, I’m surprised this one was this high? It’s not one of the better things I’ve written tbh. But it’s May and Daisy, in season 7, and God knows they needed more scenes together, so maybe that’s why this one is on the list.
What Did We Do To Deserve This 137 Kudos- Oooooooh. *sigh* Early season 5 Philinda feels for when I still had hope for my OTP.
5. do you respond to comments, why or why not?
Ummmm YES! You kind person took the time to leave me a comment! I will let you know my appreciation for that! No comment is too big or too small! You can literally comment a <3 and I will respond because you made my day! That said, I usually respond like once a month to all the comments that have been building up in my inbox
6. what’s the fic you’ve written with the angstiest ending?
*cackles* Ummmm. I have several, but I think the angstiest would be The Unimaginable. Poor May just lost everyone in this fic.
OR! the pieces of my heart are missing you because I just kill all of my favorites.
OR! the moon and the stars are nothing without you because Philindaaaa feeeeels
I’m Lost Without Her  and Stay Alive, That Would Be Enough are runners up!
7. do you write crossovers? if so what is the craziest one you’ve written?
Nope. Not creative enough for that  😂 😂
8. have you ever received hate on a fic?
I don’t think so? Only hate for making people feel too many feels  😂 😂 😂
But to the person who once commented “Bestie I hate to break it to you but this ^ is not therapy” on one of my angst fics, please know that even though I don’t know who you are, I love you and think about this comment everyday.
9. do you write smut? if so what kind?
Yes, but not lately. And it usually has feelings involved. No plots usually, but feelings yes.
10. have you ever had a fic stolen?
I doubt I am even known enough for someone to bother  😂
11. have you ever had a fic translated?
No, but that would be awesome!
12. have you ever co-written a fic before?
Yeah! Lean On Me with @shadowcass! Set during season 7 of AoS- Instead of MaYo going to Afterlife, it’s May & Daisy!
13. what’s your all time favorite ship?
Philindaaaaaaa. I have way too many feels about those two.
14. what’s a WIP that you want to finish but don’t think you ever will?
Anything that’s in my old laptop. I got a new computer about 6 months ago, and any of my WIPs that somehow didn’t transfer over will probably never be finished. 😔
15. what are your writing strengths?
Angst! Also fluff (if I’m in the right mood). Sometimes humor! (again, depends on the mood.)
16. what are your writing weaknesses?
Feels I think? Sometimes I just write and then I go back to read it later and the dialogue in the feels particularly cringey. Also, I have a habit of using my southern slang in random places if I’m writing while tired, so I try to double check that.  😂
17. what are your thoughts on writing dialogue in other languages in a fic?
Personally, I’ve only done it a couple of times, and for very short sentences or phrases because I don’t want to accidentally say something wrong and make a mess of things! I sadly only speak English with a few words of Spanish and Italian thrown in for funsies. Still waiting on a fic where I can randomly throw in a word or two in Italian.
18. what was the first fandom you wrote for?
Agents of Shield I believe! Unless you count the poorly written story I practically copied from an episode of Desperate Housewives that I was probably way too young to be watching. I wrote with gel pen on some loose leaf paper and then put into a pronged folder. I was maybe... 12? Mayyyyybe 13?
19. what’s your favorite fic you’ve written?
It’s like choosing my favorite child! (Not that I have children, but I do have 4 pets and I can easily tell you who my favorite pet is. 😂)
Hands down, I think my favorite has to be It’s Only a Matter of Time. I wrote a spec fic before the AoS finale where the team splits up across time, and I sobbed so hard while writing it!
Also I really really like The Unimaginable listed above with the angsty ending!
I’m tagging @tessathetesla @samanthaswishes @herosofmarvelanddc @brutashaphilindaandsylkieohmy if you guys want to do this!

Fandom meme
I was tagged by @backgroundagent3. Thank you!!
First Ship: Anne x Gilbert [Anne of Green Gables]
First OTP: After Anne and Gilbert, Harmony (Hermione and Harry) [Harry Potter] and given that I was reading them as they came out, this was pretty early, like book 3 or 4. haha YEARS of believing!
Current Favourite Ship: Daisy Johnson x Carol Danvers [Marvel crossover], Staticquake [Agents of Shield], Karamel [Supergirl]
Your Ship Since The First Minute: Aragorn x Arwen [LotR]
Ship(s) You Wished Had Been Endgame: Philinda [Agents of Shield] (I maintain that they were and it just wasn't shown explicitly haha), Harmony, Karamel (though we still have a few episodes left so...!), maybe Staticquake if they had been able to write it well for that many seasons or been able to bring him back later with the time travel or some sci fi alt universe whatever.
Ship You Wish Was Canon: Clintasha [MCU], Daisy x Carol because why not dream big. Huge. Massive dreaming capabilities beyond Marvel's imaginings.
Ship That Most Of The Fandom Hates But You Love: Hate is a strong word but I love the ending that Rose and the Doctor got and I ride hard for Tentoo forever. [Doctor Who]
You Don’t Even Watch The Show But You Ship It: Ted and Rebecca from Ted Lasso, all the wlw couples from shows in genres I can't/won't watch/don't have access to but who look beautiful together, the Adrien and Marinette fic that was recommended to me that was SO good but I liked it more than the show itself so I didn't keep watching
Ship You Wish Had A Different Storyline: Philinda, Harmony, Karamel, Staticquake, Lorelai x Luke [Gilmore Girls]
Favourite Ship(s) That’s Endgame: Everlark [Hunger Games], Steggy [MCU], Doctor x Rose, Martha x Mickey [Doctor Who], Alex x Kelly [Supergirl], Richard x Kahlan [Legend of the Seeker], Aragorn x Arwen, and of course, my first love, Anne x Gilbert.

fic writer review
thanks for the tag @innertimetraveldetective and @herosofmarvelanddc !!! <3
1. How many works do you have on Ao3?
30!!!
2. Whats your total Ao3 word count?
49811 :)
3. How many fandoms have you written for?
including unposted wips, five I think?
4. Top 5 fics by kudos?
Everything you hoped for - Agents of SHIELD, 99 kudos. I am very good at forgetting the plots of my works but I'm pretty sure this is an angsty post-s2 fic between May and Daisy, and their mother-daughter relationship.
When the world gets too heavy (put it on my back) - Agents of SHIELD, 93 kudos. This one is one of my only multi chaps and it's about mama may taking care of the bus kids, and the bus kids taking care of her.
Hey, Google - Agents of SHIELD, 85 kudos. Bus kids mess around with a Google Home and try to get Philinda together. One of my first ever fics.
your heart’s a thousand colours (and they’re all shades of blue) - Agents of SHIELD, 80 kudos. I didn't realize this one had grown so popular! This one's more recent and it's a mothers' day fic between may and daisy. super duper cute.
You did everything just right - Agents of SHIELD, 62 kudos. Pretty sure this is an AU in which Daisy dies, with Hamilton lyrics sprinkled in. Fun for the whole family!
I think the reason all of these fics are from the AOS fandom is because it was the one I wrote the most for, and the first one I wrote for, so they've had a bit of time to accumulate kudos and reads. :)
5. Do you respond to comments? Why/why not?
I love reading comments and I always always try to reply to them as much as I can! But I'm currently really really behind, whoops. So sorry if you've commented and still haven't gotten a reply.
I try to reply to them because I really appreciate comments. Sometimes when I'm in a bad mood I reread through them and they always make me smile.
6. A fic you’ve written with the angstiest ending?
Every Story Has An End (I Wish Ours Wasn't So Soon) is a goodbye letter for May from Coulson I wrote with the lovely @sad-tunes. It's probably one of the angstiest things I've got. other than that though there's also my fic from MakeKatCry2020 in which I kill all of the members of the team! Yay! It's called We made all the wrong choices and it's probably one of my best works.
7. Do you write crossovers?
I enjoy writing crossovers, but I don't usually because it takes a lot of work to make all of the characters fit and make sure they get an equal amount of speaking time. I like reading them though!
8. Ever received hate on a fic?
I don't think so!
9. Do you write smut?
Nope
10. Have you ever had a fic stolen?
No to this one too
11. Ever had a fic translated?
No again
12. Have you ever co-written a fic?
Yes! the one I mentioned above ( Every Story Has An End (I Wish Ours Wasn't So Soon) ) is one I cowrote with @sad-tunes.
13. All time fav ship?
Ohhh I can't choose! There are too many. I love philinda and culmets and ineffable husbands and supercorp and a;lsdjf;sladkjl;hljk
14. WIP you want to finish but don’t think you ever will?
My epic self-indulgent crossover (Daughters of the Gods). I forgot like all of the plot already lol.
15. Writing strengths?
I literally have no idea lol. maybe describing things?
16. Writing weaknesses?
possibly plotting things out. definitely plotting things out.
17. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in a fic?
I don't really do it, because I don't think I've ever had to. mostly though I think it depends on whether or not you're able to make the dialogue flow. if you can then that's great and I'm totally in favour of it! if not though there are other options that I personally would prefer.
18. First fandom you wrote for?
Agents of SHIELD!
19. What’s your fav fic you’ve written so far?
time ticks forward (don't look back) is a series with two short works I wrote for Star Trek discovery. very angsty, but I really love the style and everything about them, really. it delves into a certain scene between two characters in which one of them dies at the end of season 2.
no pressure tags: @captainsophiestarkwriting @eowima @would-die-for-fitzsimmons @a-biochemist-not-a-bird and anyone else who'd like to do this!

bro all the ships on aos have something special and interesting... it really makes them all unique and I have to give kudos to the writers
fitzsimmons: the best friends to star-and-time-crossed lovers. two genius teenagers paired up in a world so much bigger than them, instantly connecting over a love of academics. One a little too grumpy, the other a little too cheery, balancing each other out. back-and-forth bickering but they really do work better together. psychically linked as friends, but also both clueless and chaotic about being in a romantic relationship, scared to jump in, but eventually growing to understand each emotionally and taking turns being the strong one for each other and loving each other no matter what. epic ride-or-die lovestory for the ages.
skyeward: the love/hate one. she thought she understood and shared his pain. he thought she could take away his pain. there was a time when she believed he was someone who would protect her, but he abused her trust by being a murderer... maybe in another life.
staticquake: the one that got away. two lost, kinda messed up, lonely kids on the run from the past looking for connection and finding it with each other for a little while. they weren’t ever really sure where it was going, but it was getting good while it lasted. Until it ended in tragedy.
mackelena: the smol and tol with instant chemistry. she’s fast; he’s slow. she’s hot; he’s cold. despite these differences and the initial cultural differences, they both clicked because of how they take things in stride and see things through a similar faith-based worldview (by TV standards). Both are passionate champions for the weak. she helps him carry his burdens; he helps her stop running from them. they both know what they want.
quakerider: the angsty/edgy antiheroes. they both know what pain and darkness is like. and when you’re in it, you feel like only someone else in it can understand you. But neither of them were emotionally ready or available.
philinda: goofy dad, cool mom get divorce and finally start dating. after a little rough patch where they both saw other people, they finally came back and chose each other. all along it was there, but they put other things first. both very professional agents who have a long history of working together (and several adopted children together) such that they trust each other unconditionally and may seem like a married couple, although they never actually dated. the timing was all wrong for so long, until it wasn’t. finally there was no reason why they couldn’t be together... until he found out he was dying ...and also came back as an lmd???
lemonquakes: Unrequited schoolyard crush. He was kinda a jerk when he met her, because his life was a mess... but who wouldn’t adore the beautiful girl who saves the world with her superpowers. And he did adore her. Maybe too much. Even though he’s grown a lot as a person and she’s since befriended him, she can’t see him as more than annoying little brother figure... or maybe like a weird, funny nephew--since he’s the grandson of her bestfriends.
dousy/quakersquares: vintage meet cute, but more noir. she’s been unlucky in love, to say the least. and he wasn’t expecting to get swept away... literally, swept out of his time to meet this young woman who has already seen as much as he did in world war 2. They come from very different eras and likely have vastly different worldviews, but if they can try to understand each other and are willing to bend a little, maybe that’s something they can figure out. She’s a pretty plane in the sky, and he’s a solid square for her to land on when she crashes. They like getting to know each other.
