#look at how adorable catra in a dress is
Note
Okay! Lol Here's my very sleep deprived nsfw request that I've been kicking around in my head for awhile but could never figure out how to write myself so I'm passing the ball to you! 😂
Do you think you could write an imagine where Catra is in heat? Because it would basically be her equivalent to a period, reader is diligently taking care of Catra in anyway she can, until Catra gets a little too into the sight of reader basically falling at her feet and decides to see if reader can be just as diligent in other ways... 🫢
I don't know if this information will be useful to you at all but I always imagined Catra going from stubbornly trying to convince the reader that she's fine to a very desperate and sensitive mess as her heat makes her cravings more and more intense.
...😅 I'm so sorry. 😂
- Catras-Witchy-Girlfriend lol
Catra in heat headcanons (NSFW)
_________
‐ At first she absolutely hates it. She hates being doted on and being made to feel like she needs taking care of.
- She's more or less used to the heats and dealing with them, after all she's been getting them since she was 18.
- I see her as slowly coming to look forward to the treatment she gets when she's in heat and start anticipating it.
- She's definitely more clingy. Always has her arm on you or around you. And if she can't touch you with her hands, you'd better believe her tail is coiled around you like rope.
- She also tries getting your attention in different ways. Whether it's wearing more revealing clothing or just straight up walking around your shared home half-naked.
- She'll wear tighter clothes, shorter mini skirts, more revealing dresses. Or just straight up lingerie.
- She doesn't just want your eyes on her, she fucking needs them.
- I see her trying to uphold her more dominant attitude towards sex, but let's be honest, she's more of a submissive person during her heat.
- Catra also has a thing for marking you. Covers you in hickeys and doesn't give a single fuck about being discreet with them.
- Will cover you in them head to toe, on your chest, your neck, you thighs, you stomach...whatever she can reach, is getting marked.
- Her sex drive is also a lot higher during her heat, to the point she pleasures herself when you're not around.
- But when you are, she absolutely melts into you. Whatever you want to give her, she'll take. Can and will go multiple rounds.
- She's a slut for getting eaten out. She spend way too much time thinking about you mouth on her core. Dripping with need and want.
- She's also more vocal. I mean, she's already pretty vocal, but she's more whiney and begs a lot easier.
- Literally jumps your bones the moment you come home.
- This is not to say she's greedy. I mean, she is, but she adores pleasuring you just as much as she adores getting pleasured by you.
- She's a bit of a glutton for punishment, so she does things to purposefully irritate you.
- She flicks her tail in your face, distracts you when you're working, just generally demands your attention 24/7
- Speaking of her tail, it's extra sensitive during her heat. But in a good way. I'm talking running your hand over her tail while gripping it lightly while you're making out with her, will have her literally melting into your touch.
- Plops herself on you lap a lot more often too. Like you're basically her mobile chair atp😭😭
- She gets more tired too. Falls asleep earlier and wake up later because of the energy this all takes from her.
- All in all, you need to take care of her more, but my God, will you get rewarded with a needy girlfriend for it.

Just watched the series finale, and let me tell you, Maskless!Shadow Weaver is fucking adorable.
There. I said it.
Yes, even with the scars. Yes, even with the lizard face.
Just that little smirk with the "You're welcome"??? That was just the cutest thing. I just want to hug her so much and tell her how adorable she actually is.
She is a cute litte backstabbing evil sorceress and I just want to hold her, and I don't care if that's kinda weird and borderline toxic.
I will never forgive the writers for killing her off.
In my imagination, she lived happily ever after in Bright Moon with the rebels, tended to her flowers, bothered Micah and Catra, and drank tea while being a creepy, sarcastic little shit. She gets comfortable not having to wear that mask, and people accept her for who she is, not what she looks like, and maybe experiences true love, or some inner happiness for once.
And yes, she gets invited to the Catradora and Scorfuma weddings, and wears a dress slightly more formal and creepy than her usual one. Sue me.
...please someone recommend a fic where she gets a happy ending? Please? If not, I'll write one.

A Dream Come True
It’s finally here! The fic and comic you’ve all been waiting for! And it’s all catradora fluff as far as the eye can see.
I wanna thank my good friend @midnightechoes for her amazing work on the comic and to all the people who donated and helped us reach our 200 dollar goal.
And without any further delay, here’s the AO3 link (comic included) for those who’d rather read over there, and let’s get this nonsense going
Today was a big day for Etheria. It was the first Princess Prom since the fall of Prime, the first Princess Prom in many years to be celebrated in a time of peace and prosperity. So of course, Etheria’s great savior and protector was expected to make an appearance, and she was expected to look good.
Though if Adora asked just about anyone, they would claim that she always looked good. But she did want to put in the extra effort today. It took her some convincing from all of her friends to keep her from over planning and over preparing like last time.
There was no threat of war, no great enemy, no lies or intrigue, it would just be a ball with all the people she loved. She could just rest and relax tonight. So she put on a beautiful white dress, let her hair loose from its near permanent ponytail, donned a pretty little tiara, and just let herself not be combat ready for once.
Looking now at her own reflection in the room’s waterfall - the closest to a practical use she found to those wasteful things - she had to admit that she did look pretty, though for some reason she was struck by a strange sense of familiarity.
“Just let me brush it!” She heard Glimmer call from outside the room.
“No!” Catra yelled back as she ran into the room with the queen chasing after her, brush in hand.
Though Catra acted like she was running for life, they both still giggled. Catra tried to use her wife as cover from the queen’s attack, but Glimmer followed her anyway, and both just started running circles around Adora.
“Don’t let her touch me!” Catra yelled, hiding behind Adora, “she’s gonna torture me!”
“Do you always have to be this dramatic?” Glimmer asked, knowing full well that the answer was yes.
“Come on, guys,” Bow called, calmly walking in, “if we’re late to Scorpia’s first ball she’s gonna kill us.”
He pulled Glimmer closer and she leaned against him, hooking an arm around his back. For a moment there the queen seemed to forget about her plans to torture Catra, and just enjoyed that little display of affection from her husband.
“Fine, you’re off the hook,” she surrendered, but added just a little threat at the end, “this time.”
Catra stuck her tongue out at them, still using Adora for cover, as they left the room, leaving the two of them alone together. Once she was sure she was safe from Glimmer’s hairbrush, she stepped out from behind her wife and laughed a little to herself.
“You coming?” She asked, reaching a hand towards Adora.
The whole time Adora had been stunned. In equal parts by this constant feeling of dejavu, and by just how beautiful Catra looked right now. Her wife had always been a master of the casually gorgeous look, but this time she had completely out done herself.
“Etheria to Adora,” Catra called, playfully, “you still there, Adora?”
“Sorry, I just have this weird feeling that I’ve seen this before,” she explained, the feeling completely disappearing a moment later.
“What? Did you sneak a peek while me and Glimmer were putting the look together?” She teased.
“No!” Adora defended herself, “it’s just dejavu or something. I--you’re messing with me, aren’t you?”
Catra feigned offense, “such accusations from my own wife? I would never do such a thing.”
“Oh you little--!”
“Guys,” Bow interrupted again, calling from the hallway beyond, “Scorpia’s ball, remember?”
“Sorry, your majesty,” Adora shouted back, they both knew he didn’t like the title, but it was fun to mess with him sometimes.
That earned her a little laugh from Catra and a soft nudge to her side, “you ready to go?”
“Yeah, I think I am,” she answered, hooking her arm around Catra’s as they made their way out of the room.
They had barely stepped into the hallways of Bright Moon castle when they were stopped by a voice calling for them.
“Oh my goodness!” Exclaimed a very excited King Micah, “you both look stunning!”
The king had always been such a sweetheart, the man had nearly adopted the two of them after the war was over. After everything that had happened, it was nice seeing him this happy.
“Hey there, your majesty,” Catra greeted, “everything ready for the dance?”
“Indeed it is!” He replied, his bright smile growing wider, “before you go, though, I have a big surprise for you!”
“Oh?”
With a dramatic flare worthy of Double Trouble, King Micah stepped aside to reveal…
The most adorable thing they’ve ever seen.
Behind the king stood their child. Little Finn looked as adorable as they looked annoyed at their new outfit, a lovely uniform in several shades of purple and beautiful gold accents. The kid was just short of ten years old, but they already looked like a fancy little dignitary of the kingdom. The only thing standing out from the illusion was their messy blonde hair.
“You look precious!” Adora squealed at the sight.
Catra gasped, holding on tighter to her wife’s arm. It was the only thing she could do not to run over and hug them right this instant.
“Moms!” Finn groaned, “please!”
Unfortunately their pleas for help were lost on their moms, who were still busy blabbering about how adorable they looked.
“Uncle Micah, do I really have to wear this? It’s itchy,” they complained, hoping their uncle would listen, “and lame.”
The king turned to address his little nibling, but was horrified by what he saw.
“How did you manage to mess up your hair in the five minutes since I finished it?!” He demanded, utterly shocked.
“It’s a skill, uncle,” Finn replied, giving him a smug look that clearly ran in the family.
Looking none too pleased with all that lost work, Micah drew a quick glyph in the air, using just a bit of magic to comb his nibling’s hair in an instant.
“There, fixed.” The king proudly declared, earning a hiss from the angry child.
And also earning him a hug from Adora.
“They look amazing,” she beamed, “thank you!”
“My pleasure, Adora,” he replied, his voice and expression growing softer, “I missed out on too many of these moments with Glimmer. I’m not going to miss any more of them.”
Meanwhile Catra no longer had Adora to hold on to to help contain herself, so she had dashed over to their child, too busy showering them with love and affection to notice the tender moment happening behind her.
“You are the cutest kid in all of Etheria,” she happily praised.
“Mom!” Finn groaned once more.
Adora let out a content sigh as she watched those two. She loved them with all her heart and they had made the past decade of her life better than she could have ever dreamed it would be.
“Thanks again,” she repeated to Micah, finally letting go of the hug.
Walking over to her family - wow, it really warmed her heart every time she thought of them like that - she picked up the little light of her life and carried them on her shoulders. They mumbled a few words in annoyance, but Adora could feel their tail happily swaying against her back.
“You’re going to win Best Kid at the dance for sure!” Catra commented.
“I don’t think that’s a real award, mom.”
“We’ll make it real, kid.” She declared, “don’t worry, I have some pull with Princess Scorpia.”
Adora couldn’t help but smile at that.
“What’s got you all smiley like that?” Catra asked, leaning closer to her wife as they walked together.
“It’s just…this is our first Princess Prom as a family,” she said, a little teary eyed, “I still can’t believe we got this far. It’s more than I could have ever dreamed of.”
“Well, you better start believing it,” Catra replied, giving her a little kiss on the cheek.
“Ew!” Finn complained, hiding their face so they wouldn’t be forced to see any more disgusting affection from their moms.
The two of them laughed together and Adora was certain that no dream could ever compare to the life she now lived.

// SPOP critical, anti C*tradora, abuse mention
This is more of an observation of how Catra looks like whenever Adora transforms as She-Ra - while there’s still some ranting here.
The couple times we see in season 1, Catra is certainly far from being adored  (no pun intended) at Adora’s transformations.
(No Princess Left Behind, s01e09)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
(Promise, s01e11)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Catra always looks spiteful - after all, she has showed time and time again how much she dislikes princesses, and even more so as Catra completely resents Adora for “leaving” her for “dress-up games and a light show”.
As we see throughout the show, Catra becomes more and more dedicated to destroy the Rebellion, especially to destroy Adora. Catra goes lenghts to murder Adora and her friends every chance she gets, to the point of breaking reality so Adora never wins.
Until we get to season 5, and suddenly we’re supposed to believe Catra is completely gay for Adora’s new She-Ra form.
Tumblr media
And honestly, this doesn’t make any sense.
Catra’s redemption wasn’t genuine. Catra never regretted her actions. After everything, she still thinks Adora “left” her. Heck, she says this in her freaking love confession in a very guilt-tripping way. So why the hell would she be in love with Adora’s She-Ra form? Why, when Catra shows to be the complete opposite of supportive, still expecting Adora to “pick her” and then lashing out and abandoning her when Adora obviously needs Catra?
Catra never respected Adora’s decision, so her being head over heels over She-Ra is actually pretty out of character. It comes from nowhere based on what we’ve seen until now.

Dating Catradora Includes...
Hello! This is the part 2 to entering a relationship with Catradora.
Tumblr media
After confessing and getting into a relationship things are dandy and go back to normal for them but for you, you’re just enveloped in love. Kisses all over your face every second of the day. Oh Adora has to meet up with the other ok “Y/n come here I need kisses before I go!” Catra just feeling lonely well “Y/n come over here my lips are cold!”. When kisses are getting crazy they make sure everyone is included so if those two share one then you get one, no matter what you have to have one. For example say you were in your mini office sketching out new cake designs and catra decided that she wanted a kiss and kissed Adora then the two would jump up and race each other to you shoving and pushing to get through the door, grabbing you pulling you into a big kiss only to be shoved by the other who in return try to gives you a bigger kiss. It all ends in giggles and getting dragged off to cuddle.
Cuddles are also a necessity. Morning cuddles are the best. There are times where you don’t wake up with them so they just cuddle closer into your sides and talk, kiss you awake, maybe go back to sleep if its a gloomy day. The first time Catra cuddled with you she was a little scared of what you would think and took a little time to understand that you weren’t going anywhere and would stay the whole time so if she went to sleep she could trust that you weren’t leaving at all. Catra likes to dig herself into your hair of under your arms for comfort and also because your hair smells nice. She also purrs very loud while trying to get comfortable. She rubs up on you two. You and Adora think it’s adorable and if one of you bring it up she will deny it and stop doing it only to continue doing it unconsciously. You both laugh and continue on whatever you were all working on. When Adora cuddles though it’s like a giant bear. She just throws herself on you and hopes that your comfortable. The first few times she made sure that she was careful and a little awkward with cuddling. She quickly got over that phase and now is just a big bear. If you’re busy with the bakery or planning she will cuddle up behind you while Catra throws herself onto your lap. Times like this can be quite annoying but you work with it because whenever you try to tell them to go entertain themselves somewhere else they give you the cute sad eyes. You just shatter and let them stay letting them give ideas on projects you have going on.
When you want to cuddle it’s amazing. It comforts them knowing that you want them the way they want you. You rubbing up on them, pouting and pulling at their clothes makes their hearts melt. They immediately stop what they’re doing and pick you up and run towards the bed or something soft if not then their lap you go. You were feeling very worn out today. People yelling at you for your prices which were really not that high. People asking the mostly painfully obvious questions ever. Your moms non stop talking about your relationship and wanting to know the gossip. All you wanted was to go home to your girlfriends. When you left the bakery it started raining which it didn’t seem like it was gonna rain this morning but what a plot twist. So you walked home cold and wet from to rain and when you stepped inside you just wanted to cry. Adora and Catra meet you at the front door your back to them as you take off your shoes. You turn around, wobbily lip and eyes watering. They look at you and then at each other and quickly pull you to your shared bedroom. Catra picks you some comfy clothes from your wardrobe while Adora strips the wet clothes from your body and grabs a towel and wipes your body and hair down. They quickly dress you and get to cuddling.
Speaking of work. When you do have to go in to the bakery or plan a cake idea or new dessert they can get in the way sometimes especially when your baking. Catra’s tail gets cake batter on it or flour and Adora is trying to help but is getting ingredients all over the place and on her. In the end the back of the bakery looks like a bomb went off. Your mothers watch and laugh as you try to wrangle the two and get them out of there. They find it cute when you are covered in food and concentrating on something you are very passionate about. They do feel guilty sometimes when they get in the way and you get frustrated. They make sure to apologize after.
Let’s talk about the more dark side of being in a poly relationship with these two. There are some things that you probably won’t ever understand. The inside jokes or the eye gazes and touches. You can’t help but feel like you don’t belong. No matter how many times they tell you they love you or that you don’t need to feel that way, you can’t help it. They know that it’s something that you won’t understand but they try to include you on those things too. One time it was just getting to be to much and you just took a break and stayed with your parents for a little while. They come looking for you and see that your ok. They ask whats wrong and you just crack down and tell them. That was your first bump in the road for you three. After that they make sure to be careful around you but at times it’s hard. You understand they were friends for a whole life time then turning into lovers. You were the third party that they added to their relationship. At times like this you really disconnect and busy yourself with work and other mini tasks. They try and talk to you but they can’t get through but after a day they get sick of it and force you to talk to them by cornering you and forcing you to talk. After some talking you give in and let them swoop you away from work and spend the next few days hanging out.
When those two have an argument they either go to you to talk about how they feel or you all just don’t have any connection for some hours. You feel real lonely when they argue not knowing who to comfort and ti gets to the point where it gets tiring and you yell at them to make up or they are both leaving their house...? They make up and talk through the problem of course can’t be a make up if Catra didn’t express  her distaste for these conversations and having to actually talk the problem out instead of avoid it. They want to go back to the same Adora and Catra and with you forcing them they are so thankful for that and they make sure you know by doing some certain things ;).
Hope you enjoyed! I can’t wait to make more to satisfy my unhealthy obsession.

i want to see you, dressed all in white
a short catradora oneshot, set at the time of adora's future vision. requested by @nozomijoestar. read on ao3.
Catra could not believe she was wearing shoes for this. It was such a strange experience, hearing the click clack of heels coming from her feet as she walked, but alas! Such was the life of an ambassador of Brightmoon.
And, she thought privately, the life of the wife of She-Ra. Hopefully. If everything went well tonight. She subtly traced the outline of the ring in her pants pocket. The box itself would have been too big and clunky to fix in her pocket, so Glimmer had helped her out and given her a tiny leather pouch to hold it in.
“If she finds the pouch, just say it contains important ambassador information like…IDs!” Glimmer had suggested.
Catra had raised an eyebrow. “We need IDs for Princess Prom?”
“Well no, but…” It was Glimmer’s turn to raise her eyebrows. “You and Adora did miss half the planning meeting, so how would either of you know?”
Catra had smirked. “We were…busy.”
She gave her a decidedly unqueenly shove. “Of course you were, Horde Scum.” Then Glimmer pulled her into a hug. “I’m so happy for you both. Adora’s gonna say yes immediately.” Catra wasn’t worried about her saying no; she knew that Adora loved her more than anything, and they’d been talking about marriage for a while now. No, she was worried that somehow something would go wrong and it wouldn’t be perfect. Adora was as amazing as the moons and the stars—she deserved perfect.
“Catra? Catra!”
She snapped back to the present. Adora was waving her hand in front of her face, grinning. Even at age twenty-seven, she still hadn’t lost the adorable, dorky look on her face.
“Sorry, zoned out for a sec,” she said, taking Adora’s hand and jumping gracefully down from the skiff. She took a minute to admire how beautiful her girlfriend looked tonight—she looked like a queen in her own right, the tiara sparkling off her golden hair and the white dress making it all too easy for Catra to imagine her walking down a wedding aisle. Her stomach fluttered.
“Are you nervous for your second Princess Prom?” asked Adora; her tone was joking but her eyes softened in a way that made Catra feel instantly safe.
“Not with you by my side,” said Catra, pushing down her nerves and leaning forward to press their foreheads together. “Are you nervous?”
“Not with you by my side,” Adora mimicked, smiling against her lips.
If anyone was definitely nervous, it was Bow and Glimmer. This was the first formal event where they would be introduced as a married couple, and they had spent the whole skiff ride fiddling nervously with their clothes and asking to go over the schedule so often that Catra had asked Bow if he’d switched bodies with Adora.
“You two look amazing,” Adora told them for the seventh time this hour.
“Are you sure the capes don’t look stupid?” asked Glimmer. “I don’t wanna look childish.”
“What if I trip and fall on it?” Bow worried, toying with the edge of his cape.
“If you do, I will laugh and then kick all the asses of anyone else who laughed,” Catra assured him.
“And I’ll help!” said Adora gleefully, holding up her hand to be high-fived. Catra obliged her.
Glimmer and Bow both took a deep breath in sync. “Thanks, guys,” she said, a real smile spreading across her face.
Bow stuck out his hand. “Best Friend Squad!”
Everyone put their hands in the middle. “Best Friend Squad!” they cheered.
——
The former-Fright-Zone-now-renamed-the-Light-Zone looked absolutely stunning. Scorpia had really outdone herself. Unlike at Frosta’s prom, which had been decorated with gleaming ice sculptures, the ballroom was decorated with smooth, sleek black crystals reminiscent of the Black Garnet, giving the whole room a very sophisticated aura.
“Presenting Queen Glimmer and King Bow of Brightmoon!”
Bow and Glimmer did not, to their credit, trip over their capes or do anything else notably embarrassing. In fact, they were the textbook example of dignified, waving proudly to the crowd as they walked up to the dais, and then bowing low to Scorpia, who immediately jumped down from her throne to greet them.
And then it was their turn.
“Presenting Adora, Princess of Power, and Catra of Brightmoon!”
Catra offered her girlfriend her arm. It was partially an affectionate gesture and partially an effort to make sure she herself didn’t trip—she still wasn’t used to these shoes.
“Your Highness,” Catra said to Scorpia as she bowed.
“Oh, none of that ‘Highness’ crap!” Scorpia chortled, practically bouncing off her throne to envelop the two of them in a tight hug.
“All this stuff is so formal,” she whispered. “I’m so out of my depth.”
“You’re doing amazing,” Adora promised her.
The next hour or so was filled with so many boring conversations and introductions. It seemed like every diplomat and ambassador in Etheria wanted to talk to her and Adora. It was really cute when little kids came up asking for She-Ra autographs, but if Catra had to hear about the rising fish prices in Salineas one more time, she was going to be homicidal.
Despite coming as each other’s dates, Catra and Adora had to split up in order to divide and conquer all of their social obligations, a strategy that Bow and Glimmer had also adopted. That didn’t stop Catra from throwing as many longing looks at Adora from across the ballroom as physically possible.
She tried to seek shelter with Double Trouble, who would definitely not force her to ruminate on the state of “today’s youth”—a conversation that withered old advisers seemed to love—but their need to be the center of attention kept also drawing attention to Catra. This made it particularly hard to accomplish her goal of “only talking to people she wanted to talk to”. Glimmer, surrounded by a group of Mystacor sorcerers, gave her an arm squeeze in solidarity as she passed by.
Eventually she managed to escape yet another drab discussion of the pros and cons of a trade alliance between the Crimson Waste and the Kingdom of Snows under the premise of greeting Frosta. She was able to enjoy the beginning of a nice banter/advice session concerning Frosta’s love life before the princess was preoccupied with an adviser asking her opinion on intra-kingdom matters.
“I’m surprised you haven’t taken those off yet,” Adora said behind her, making her jump. She gestured down at the cursed shoes.
“I wish,” Catra grimaced, taking the cup of punch her girlfriend offered. “I was afraid someone would throw a fit.”
Adora wrapped an arm around her shoulders, which Catra leaned into gratefully. “Is it that advisor over there?” she whispered in her ear, subtly turning Catra’s head so she can see who she meant. “The one with an angry look on his face? Are you afraid of him?”
She snickered. “What, did you have to hear his monologue about decorum too?”
“He even made a comment about ‘last time’,” Adora told her, laughing under her breath. “A very pointed remark about breaking tradition.”
“Ooh, insulting She-Ra, is he? I’ll kick his ass.”
“My hero.”
Catra turned to face her fully, placing one hand on Adora’s hip. “You know it,” she murmured, leaning forward to press their lips together.
“Adora!”
Catra pulled back, groaning under her breath, as they both turned to see Perfuma waving at them. The flower princess held up her own cup and gestured at a group of stern-looking Plumerians. Adora pecked her cheek before hurrying off again.
At this point, Catra was beginning to get worried that she wouldn’t ever get the chance to be alone with Adora. She once again traced the outline of the ring pouch in her pocket, biting her lip.
Then, to her immense relief, music started playing. She grinned. It was time for the real party to start.
Adora easily found her on the dance floor. Catra leaned eagerly into her warm touch, let herself be rooted in her relaxed blue eyes. “Will you be my dance partner?” asked Adora teasingly.
Catra pretended to think it over. “Hmm, I don’t know. Are you any good at it?”
Adora winked. “Nope.”
Catra blew her a kiss, and then the dance started, everyone moving in sync. Adora kept her eyes fixed on her girlfriend, her steps steady and confident despite her previously stated lack of talent. “I love you,” she murmured.
“I love you too,” she murmured back. “Always have, always will.”
The movements of the dance pulled them closer, the tempo slowing down. Adora used this opportunity to cup her face and kiss her firmly—finally—before the pace of the music picked back up again and everyone switched partners.
The carefully-choreographed switch in the dance pushed her and Glimmer together, a move that made the both of them grin easily. Things really had changed since the last Princess Prom, Catra thought to herself.
“Do you have a specific plan?” asked Glimmer, nodding almost imperceptibly at her pocket.
Catra nodded. “I just need a way to get a moment alone with Adora.”
Glimmer winked at her. “I can do that.”
Then she was passed off to Mermista, who she hadn’t seen yet that evening. “Heard you knocked up,” said Catra in lieu of a greeting.
Mermista twirled her, a lazy smirk sliding across her face. “Yeah, just a little baby barnacle growing, nothing to see here.”
“Congrats,” Catra told her genuinely. Mermista would never be her best friend—that was reserved for Adora, and Glimmer and Bow—but she had the deepest respect for her, and they got along wonderfully.
A slight blush drifted over her cheeks. The queen had never been good at accepting compliments—one of the many things they had in common. “Bow told me,” she said, “so like, congrats to you too.”
Catra rolled her eyes, but there was no malice behind it. “What, does the entire Princess Alliance know?”
“Probably,” drawled Mermista, and then Catra spun her one last time before they parted ways.
“Catra!” Scorpia greeted her with just as much enthusiasm as before. “I heard the news! How can I help?”
As they began the waltz, Catra mulled it over. “Actually,” she said, her eyes lighting up, “I do have a request.”
——
“Greetings, Princess Prom guests!” Perfuma said in a trill, speaking into the microphone. “I hope you all enjoyed your first dance of the night! Now we will have a live performance by our beloved host, Princess Scorpia!”
The crowd cheered wildly. Scorpia stepped onto the stage, looking radiant and sure of herself under the spotlights. She tapped the microphone once to test it, before she began to hum the opening notes of a ballad.
Scorpia’s song wafted through the ballroom, filling the air. Perfuma sat behind her, strumming a huge string instrument made of wood and occasionally providing backup vocals.
Catra and Adora swayed together on the dance floor, saying nothing, just enjoying each other’s presence. Catra spun her around slowly as Scorpia crooned, occasionally pressing a light kiss to her skin as she drew her closer. Adora, in turn, just watched her, a soft look on her face.
After Scorpia finished her first song of the night, everyone cheered, clapping their hands and whistling in approval. The princess flushed a deep crimson, exchanging a delighted look with Perfuma over her shoulder. A shout of “Encore! Encore!” started up.
Catra took Adora’s hand. “Let’s sneak out for a bit,” she whispered. “Everyone’s entranced by Scorpia’s singing, so we won’t be missed.”
The gleam in Adora’s eyes was ever so familiar, a look that she hadn’t lost even as she grew older. “Lead the way,” she whispered back.
They snuck out through one of the many hallways branching out from the ballroom. The hallways were well lit and decorated similarly to the ballroom; it looked so different from the hallways they’d once scampered through as kids.
But they raced just the same, hand in hand, giggling as they chased each other. Catra mussed up Adora’s hair, cackling as her girlfriend playfully pulled her into a headlock. Their outfits were thoroughly disheveled by the time they reached the ladder, but Catra didn’t care.
“Do you recognize where we are?” she asked.
Adora touched the rail of the ladder. “Of course,” she said, returning Catra’s grin. “I’d recognize this place in my sleep, no matter how many times the walls are repainted.”
Catra kicked off her shoes, sighing with relief when the pads of her feet touched ground again. “Follow me, then.” She hoisted herself up onto the first rung of the ladder, and began to climb.
“Not fair!” shouted Adora below her. “I’m wearing a dress and you’re not!” But she heard her feet touch the ladder rungs anyway.
Catra offered Adora her hand on the top rung, which she took gratefully. The two of them stood together on the platform, in the exact spot where they’d spent so many hours as children. Catra inhaled, breathing in Adora’s sweet, familiar scent.
Adora stared out over the former Fright Zone, still wrapped around Catra. “The Light Zone is a good name,” she said finally.
Catra purred softly as she ran a hand through her hair. “It’s so much nicer now,” she marveled. “Scorpia did so well.”
Adora turned to look at her. “So did we,” she said, cupping her cheek. “We’ve rebuilt so much since the war ended seven years ago.”
Catra picked up on the double meaning of her words. “We have,” she said, pressing their foreheads together and smiling against her lips. Her heart pounded in her throat. This was the perfect moment.
Catra pulled back, just far enough to give her space to kneel. Quickly, she rehearsed her speech in her mind, She reached into her pocket and pulled the ring free from the leather pouch.
She began, “Hey, Adora—”
“Will you marry me?” blurted out Adora.
Catra’s jaw dropped. For a minute, she said nothing.
“I mean, you—you can say no,” Adora said hurriedly, clearly taking her silence as a bad sign. “I didn’t plan out an elaborate proposal or anything, I don’t even have a ring, but—”
“I have a ring!” said Catra, still shocked.
It was Adora’s turn to gape at her. “You—What?”
A grin split Catra ear to ear. “Yes, you idiot!” she exclaimed. “I was going to propose to you tonight—right now, actually! Glimmer and I have been planning this for months!”
Adora almost fell over laughing, clutching her stomach. “Wow,” she said, breathless, “we make quite a pair.”
“We do,” said Catra, throwing her arms around her neck and kissing her passionately.
“I love you,” Adora told her, her words slightly muffled against her lips.
Catra got down on one knee and held out the ring in her palm for real. “Adora,” she said, ignoring the happy tears that pricked the corner of her eyes, “will you marry me?”
Adora knelt down so they were level. “Yes,” she breathed out. “A million times, yes.”

Okay look that oneshot was adorable , I like it and I'm glad you wrote it but you know how the prompt list is divided into Fluff, Angst and General? The kitchen thing is under Fluff, number 42 in General is "are you flirting with me".
HAKJSHKAHSKJSH I’m sorry I’m a dumbass 🤡
“Would it kill you to focus?”
Catra tapped her foot in impatience at the shapeshifter, who was messing with their hair, expression conveying sheer boredom. They were like that a lot. Clear distaste to pay any attention. It didn’t stop them from doing a good job, surprisingly.
Trouble looked over at her through strands of platinum hair, nodding for her to continue her talk.
God, she wanted to strangle them sometimes.
“Battle plans are here, not in your hair.”
“Well I’m sorry for caring about my appearance, unlike some people.”
Catra ignored them.
She heard them shuffle across the crate to her side, draping their arms around her shoulders, resting their chin atop her head.
Normally, she would’ve mauled them. But she had put them on a night-long shift, so maybe this could be excused.
But then again. . .
She hadn’t viewed them as a more touchy-feely person when she first hired them.
Big error in her judgement, because now she just had a more sleazy and vain version of Scorpia at her side.
“Focusing?” She asked, feeling the sudden stroke of long fingers through her hair.
“Naturally.”
“Then what did I just say?”
Their only response was silence, before an uncertain; “robots?”
Catra rolled her eyes. “What else?”
“I didn’t come here to be quizzed, you know. I would’ve stayed with those rebels if I wanted that.” They cleared their throat, before continuing in Glimmer’s voice. “Flutterina, do you have any powers? Flutterina, where did you buy that dress? I’d look good in a purple version blah blah—”
Catra laughed at that, clapping a hand over her mouth as they shot her a dazzling grin.
“You should do that more often; laugh. Lucky you’ve got such an adorable one, unlike some people on the other side.”
“Are you flirting with me?”
“And if I was?”
Catra didn’t have an answer to that. That was common. The shapeshifter was something of an enigma, one that she was no closer to understanding. It was so infuriating.
Their tail flicked upwards to briefly brush her chin, and she mustered her best scowl, to keep that heat creeping up the back of her neck at bay.
“Focus.”
“Will do.”

She-Ra for the ask meme! (Maybe a bad time with the final season so close, you can save this until after if you like.)
(Based on this meme.)
Well, did I save this for later or what?
The first character I first fell in love with: Entrapta. Aside from her colour scheme—I do love a good purple girl, to say the least—I adore her for her enthusiastic, inquisitive, compassionate, and rather eccentric personality. Not to mention her design is an absolute joy to watch in action; from the goggles to the prehensile hair, is creative and adorable. She steals every scene she’s in with her loveably manic energy. The fact that she’s a scientist, who specializes in advanced technology no less, makes her an important character in a magic-driven fantasy setting—her design helps her stand out among the more traditional looking princesses, too! The fact that she’s some of the most effectively authentic examples of autistic representation in children’s fiction only enhances her likeability, in addition to the most interesting and sympathetic examples of morally grey characters that I’ve seen. Her wonderful chemistry with the rest of the Horde adds both to her charm, and really helped lighten things up on the villain’s side for the first 2-3 seasons, and her relationship with Hordak… Well, I’ll get to that shortly! 😉
The character I never expected to love as much as I do now: Madame Razz. I figured Razz was going to be a fun mentor character, but I could have never suspected she’d be the best mentor I and Adora could ask for! I’m not familiar with her original counterpart, but whatever they had to work with, I applaud the crew for taking the silliest looking character in the original line-up and turning her into this charming little old lady whose equal parts Yoda and Ghibli grandma. (Or at least that’s how I describe her.) Her design gets special mention, too, for just how dang cute she is! The big glasses, the raggedy dress, big fluffy hair with moths flying around, and her witch broom all come together so well. Out of all Adora’s mentors, she’s the best— having no ulterior motives, agendas, or any manipulative or toxic behaviour laced into her teaching style, offers the best life advice she can to someone who clearly needs it out of kindness. And because she bears a certain resemblance to someone she once knew in a similar position.
The character everyone else loves that I don’t: Catra. Shocking right? Look, I know that she had an awful time growing up in the Fright Zone and by the end of the show she became more well-rounded and likeable. Any grief I have with her is pretty much over done with. Problem is though… it is pretty hard to forget everything she did. Now, I know it’s all in the past and a lot of people haven’t forgotten what she did either, and that some of it has to do with the ugliness of the Catradora vs. Entrapdak dynamic discourse and I don’t want to go into that. I really don’t. But put as simply as possible, she was a toxic friend, especially in regards to Adora (the Season 1 and 2/3 finales in particular) and Entrapta (who she betrayed, left to die after lying about her to her lover/best friend, and the offering the bare minimum of an apology), and escalated a war just to get back at Adora. After she tried to destroy REALITY to get back at her. I’m glad she changed but it still feels like too little too late.
The character I love that everyone else hates: Swift Wind. Sure, he’s a talking horse with a design that can wander a good ways into the uncanny valley, and who tries too hard too hard to be funny, but in spite of that I think he’s got a good heart behind that strange face of his. He does his best to be a good friend to Adora, supporting her both as herself and when she’s She-Ra, as well as doing his best to support Adora’s other friends as well (see “Boy’s Night Out”). Chiefly by trying to make light of Adora’s duties as She-Ra by trying help her find the fun and excitement in it. Of course, he doesn’t just try to keep the energy up, he shows genuine concern for Adora and all her friends, not hesitating to rush to their protection or point out when a situation seems especially dire. (see “Beast Island” and “Failsafe”). But I think my favourite example is from “Hero” where he casually reveals that he regularly checks in on Madame Razz because, as he says, “You gotta check up on old ladies alone in the woods.” What a horse!
The character I used to love but don’t any longer: Glimmer. I used to love her personality and her design. A peppy rebel who lived for adventure and a good friend to Adora and Bow. Even if she had her flaws like her impulsiveness and her stubbornness, she was still pretty likeable. But then she called her mom a coward for acting as a strategist and looking after Bright Moon, which ended up convincing her to sacrifice herself to close the rift at the end of S3. Alright, fair enough, some things can’t be avoided. Then she took over as queen, and I can understand there was A LOT of factors that were in play—namely grief and Double Trouble deliberately playing on her strained friendship with Adora and Bow as part of one of Catra’s plots—but boy howdy, did she start showing a pretty unsavory side what with her increasingly ruthless demeanor, trusting Adora’s abuser (hi Shadow Weaver, be with you in minute) over her, choosing to leave Entrapta in very real peril on Beast Island, and willingly using a weapon she knew could destroy all of Etheria to win a war. Perhaps I wouldn’t have minded as much if season 5 didn’t rush through her apologies and redemption so quickly, but the fact remains that Glimmer’s character took an awfully dark turn that’s not quite going to be so easily forgotten.
The character I would totally smooch: In a dark future where Entrapta never found love with Hordak, for one terrible reason or another, I would totally give her a smooch. I’ve said it before and say it again: Mad scientist princess is best princess! The character I’d want to be like: Bow. In some capacity I’m already like him, namely being super emotional and doing his damnedest to be a good friend even when things are tough, as well as being the voice of reason and a tinkerer (what? Tinkering with artsy stuff counts!). But I’d like to follow his example of being more level-headed, softer, optimistic, but also more assertive as opposed to my impulsive, harsher, cynical, and reserved current self.
The character I’d slap: Shadow Weaver. Need I explain? No, and anyway I can’t slap her anyways because she pulled the most manipulative heroic sacrifice I’ve ever seen. Dammit it, Shadow Weaver! (I really wanted to say Horde Prime but I feel like he wasn’t developed quite enough to be as hateable as he could be. Not to say that he isn’t an absolute piece of trash who deserved what he had coming already, but we didn’t get to spend three whole seasons getting to know the depths of his manipulative depravity while simultaneously weaseling his way into a twisted version of a redemption arc, unlike someone else I just talked about.)
A pairing that I love: Entrapdak. In case, it wasn’t already obvious. To summarize, in spite of all the drama that surrounds them and their actions, they honestly have the sweetest, most affectionate, and quite possibly the most healthy and engaging pair of the entire show (next to Spinnerella and Netossa, of course). Shoot, if it weren’t for these two and my hopes to see them reunite again, I would have left the fandom entirely at this point! (No seriously, I’m getting tired, folks.)
A pairing that I despise: Hordak X Horde Prime, but I think that’s the point, since most people use it to explore toxic relationships from a distance. Anyways, I really do not want to talk about abusive alien selfcest.

SHE-RA SEASON 5 REVIEW
Okay.
Here we go.
KJEFKFPOJFEKD THAT WAS AWESOME, FANTASTIC, EXCEPTIONAL, I JUST LOVED IT FROM BEGINNING TO END!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
NOW, to the reviewing!!! Because I have SO MUCH to say. But first, of course, and spirits I’m happy, Catradora!! Like, wow, I was crying at the end of the last episode because it was so good and pure and it felt right. At first, I didn’t really imagine how Catra could have a redemption arc, plus Adora kinda forgiving her, and then having them both falling in love and admitting this love before the end of the show. That seemed like a lot to manage in only 13 episodes of 20 min. But guess what? THEY FREAKING DID IT, and it felt fluid and right and it made perfect sense. The kiss was perfect, but every little moment before was perfect too. I especially loved the communication scene between the two ships, when Catra is sending Glimmer to Adora & Bow. Like, how Adora couldn’t believed her ears? And Catra saying “I’m sorry”, her-whom-shall-not-ever-say-sorry, saying sorry? IT WAS GREAT. And the rescue and Catra has short hair (I had to get used to it, but it’s actually a great look for her) and Bow always saying she’s cute and all. I’m glad there was some conflict at first too, it’s hard to stop butting heads when you’re used to it. But then the TEASING (you know which scene I’m talking about) and the FLIRTING and TOUCHING. Like, wow. It was so clearly romantic, and I never EVER see that in cartoons.
Korrasami walked so Catradora could run, and what a run, my friends!
But not everything is about Catradora, and it’s a greater indication of the quality of the show. I still can’t believe how they manage to do everything and get it so right in so little time, it blows my MIND!! Adora’s journey with She-Ra and her friends and Catra, it was so blatantly obvious she didn’t let herself feel too much, especially if it “distracted” her from her goals as She-Ra. She wanted to save everyone, to save her friends because she loves them, but she didn’t understand that she would hurt them by dying in some sort of heroical sacrifice. And Catra learning to accept love and affection from others, and connecting with the little invisible cat (that was pretty dope, I loved it) and opening up. That was beautiful to see her try, try her hardest, and sometimes it would work and sometimes she would lash out, but she tried. Basically, Catra helped Adora to become a little more selfish and in-tune with what she wants, and not what the world or She-Ra need. And in return, Adora helped Catra become a little bit more selfless, to think about others. They complete each other so perfectly, and the flash-forward in the future was awesome aaaaaaaaaaaaand I’m getting back to Catradora, sorry!
Now to other characters.
Glimmer was fantastic. Gosh, her relationship with Catra was so touching, and her apologizing to Bow, and just, you know, being her better self. By the way, why aren’t you all talking about BOW AND GLIMMER????? HOW COULD I NOT SEE THIS BEFORE??? They are so cute, and the “I love you”s before the final battle, and the forehead KISS omg. Best friends falling in love, this is perfect. Bow being the only one with some sense of self-preservation (at least until Catra arrives!) was pretty funny too, he is probably the most clever in their group. And the both of them searching for Bow’s dads, it shows that - again - you can be selfish sometimes, and it’s okay. Actually, Glimmer also shows that it’s okay to be a little selfish to Bow, and Bow shows her that it’s also could to rely on friends and not carry everything on her shoulders (like she did in season 4). Also, how cute Frosta & Glimmer are, everytime they see each other! And Bow & Entrapta are so funny too, I just love how we had so many different interactions between every character this season.
The plot with the chips was phenomenal too. I was worried it would be too impersonal, to have the Princesses fighting againt robots and clones. But now, having Princesses fighting Princesses was freaking angsty and great!! Spirits, Netossa trying to save Spinirella was so heart-breaking, and I’m so happy we finally had a story with the two of them at the centre of the narrative. The underwater episode was pretty great too, I love when they play dress-up!! Also, what was this CHEMISTRY between Perfuma & Scorpia???? They would be great together, and its refreshing to see Scorpia being treated kindly by someone. And Sea-Hawk and Mermista are soooooooooooo funny. When she said she had set a boat on fire to see what it felt like??? Lmao, I was on the floor!!! And the Princesses kinda being mad at Entrapta for caring only about technology, and then having Entrapta working, not for technology but now to save her friends was some real character development.
I’m confused about Shadow-Weaver, tho. I knew I didn’t want her to have a full redemption arc this season. It would be letting her off too easy: like, she was a freaking abuser for years, and thirsty for power and she worked for the Horde and was Hordak’s left hand for years too! And wow, I was so angry when she tried to do her bullshit again and separate Adora & Catra. The worst thing was, she actually thought she was going the right thing! I’m so happy we got to see both Adora & Catra screaming at her, and calling her out for her bullshit, and refusing to be manipulated anymore. Shadow-Weaver did a few good things from time to time (like saving Micah at one moment), but I dunno, I wasn’t expecting her to die. I had tears in my eyes when she took off her mask and exploded. I guess that was the point: Adora and Catra were also crying, she was their mother figure for a long time after all. It’s like, you can have an abuser and know about it, but still love them in a way... and that’s becoming too personal, back to the review!!
I dunno what to say, honestly, everything was great. Sure, I would have loved to see a little bit more Rogelio, and Kyle and Lonnie (btw, KYLE HAS A CRUSH ON ROGELIO!!!!!!!). And maybe a little bit more scenes between Catra & Scorpia too, she didn’t really have the time to apologize before the crushing hug (”there it is”, lol) but I’m sure they’ll be okay. The little scene between Perfuma & Catra about Scorpia was so lovely too, I hope they’ll be friends at some point. Little things here and there, mainly because there was a lot to tell and not many episodes to tell them. But what they did tell, they told it the best way possible.
She-Ra is one of the best series I have ever watched, and I’m so glad and relieved that we live in a world where this show, and even more this season, were possible. I wasn’t expecting everything to be... so explicit, I guess, especially in a serie for children, and yet Noelle Stevenson didn’t hold back at all. It’s like the curtain was, not only opened, but completely removed. I was so excited watching every episode, I couldn’t stop and then it was over and I couldn’t decide if I was crying or laughing (maybe both) but it made me feel SO MUCH, and it gave me hope and spirits know we need some positivity right now.
So yeah. Thank you to the entire She-Ra team for creating and sharing this little treasure with us. I’m sorry for rambling, I’m just, this so GREAT, it’s making me so excited for future shows like this one!! If Korrasami walked, if Catradora ran, what will we have next, you know???!!
Okay, now, one last time friends!
FOR THE HONOR OF GRAYSKULL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Tumblr media
(can I say how cute Catra sneezing and purring was... happy Catra = adorable Catra, you’re totally right Bow)
(and can I say I’ll miss them so much? damn, i wish Noelle would do a movie, or like, little shorts of She-Ra in the future)
(DID YOU SEE CATRA’S and BOW’S HAIRS IN THE FUTURE??!!!!!!!!!! spirits, this was exactly the look I was dreaming of for Catra, and Bow looks so gooooooood help)
(okay, I’m really shutting up now)
(GAYS FOR THE WIN)
(bye)

Glimmer & Bow Childhood Headcanons
I just love the idea that Glimmer and Bow have known each other since they were kids, as long as Catra and Adora, so in honor of today's @glimbow-week-2020 prompt, Childhood / Memories, here are my headcanons about their childhood...
(If you vibe with any of these, I have a fic series of Bow and Glimmer as kids called Glowing Up you will probably like because it's based on all of these! AO3 and FF.net links in bio!)
When I was writing Glowing Up, I realized that so much of figuring out the story of Bow and Glimmer as kids is trying to figure out how this little kid from a pacifist family became radicalized as a soldier for the rebellion which sounds really dramatic when you put it that way but that is, very literally, Bow's whole origin story. I think it was a gradual process and a result of the combination of seeing and experiencing some of the things the Horde was doing first hand, realizing that someone had to do something and that his dads were wrong about the war but also grew out of a desire to help / spend more time with Glimmer.
They met around the same age as Catadora, when Glimmer was 6 and Bow was 7 because the show loves parallels like that.
Bow was obsessed with pirates when he was little (which is why Glimmer is surprised when his dads say he wasn’t playing pirates). Hence the whole Sea Hawk situation.
Glimmer's mom used to make her dress really frilly and princess-y and she hated it. All those rompers she wears now are a rebellion against that.
Ditto her hair. Angella used to make her keep her hair longer "because it looks nicer" and she hated it and hacks it all off now at every chance. The first time she got a really short haircut, it was because Bow did it for her, knowing Angella adored him so she wouldn't be able to get that mad about it.
Part of the reason Glimmer had trouble making friends is that, as half-angel and a princess of Bright Moon, her mother both limited her exposure to other kids and, when she did meet other kids her age, they were intimidated / jealous / not all that nice to her.
Bow on the other hand makes friends super easily and could have a ton of friends in the rebellion... but is too loyal to Glimmer to hang out with people who were mean to her so it's always mostly just the two of them.
Glimmer didn't get her powers right away... but she did get them much earlier than Angella wanted her to because she and Bow accidentally-on-purpose snuck up to the moonstone so she could charge that first time.
Once Glimmer learned to teleport, that was when her and Angella's relationship really started to get strained because then she wouldn't listen or stay put ever and it drove Angella nuts.
Glimmer has definitely teleported in on Bow while he was trying to get dressed or do something... private in his room at least once.
Bow's the baby of his family and the rest of his siblings are older and all kind of paired off (esp the twins) so he was often alone. He's actually closest to his oldest brother (yes, Dirk, if you've read An Outside Perspective) because he's usually the one babysitting him (and by that I mean, allegedly babysitting him while Bow snuck off to hang out at Bright Moon). It's when his older brother finally moves out that Bow has to invent the fake school and move to Bright Moon because he no longer has that excuse for going off to the rebellion whenever he wants.
George and Lance never told any of Bow's siblings about the whole soldier for the rebellion thing because they felt it wasn't their place. They are all super surprised when they not only find out he’s nothing like they thought he was but that he’s dating the Queen!
All of Bow's siblings play an instrument. He plays the violin but has a sister who plays the lute and has always liked it and that’s why he wanted to learn that too.
Trans Bow? Trans Glimmer? My take on either is a) any transition would be done with magic b) it's already canon any couples that want them can have biological kids on Etheria regardless of sex or gender and c) there's no bigotry on Etheria anyway so everybody wins!

Would you write a Scorpia x f!reader meeting for the first time at the season one princess prom? I fuckin lost it when I saw her in that dress, I swear
Absolutely! I adore her outfit also, and I feel like it gets overshadowed by all the catra/adora stuff in that episode, so this was rlly fun to write!
that being said, i drafted this all out before the internet came back, then when i went to rewatch the episode to make sure everything lined up, and.... suddenly remembered that the horde's plan revolves around replacing the guards, so it ended up getting a little angsty at the end instead of the heartfelt ending i'd had planned, but hopefully that's alright
Tumblr media
When word of the upcoming Princess Ball reaches you, rumors that the Kingdom of Snows will be hosting the Ball for the first time in your lifetime, you can't help but get invested, despite knowing better. You're no noble-born diplomat, no Princess. There's no invitation waiting for you, but as a fairly high-ranking member of Princess Frosta's guard, there's little doubt you'll be able to attend, if as protection. The thought of the ball, of fancy noblewomen in fine dresses and sights of all the different kingdoms enchants you, halting your thoughts and giving you something to think about on long, boring shifts.
All that is brought to a crashing halt when you slip up and go crashing into your fellow guards during a training drill and are firmly assigned to Weapons Check. Kept locked behind a cramped little booth, with little to do but babysit a bunch of swords for the majority of the ball and keep a largely ornamental eye out for the distant threat of the Horde.
Well. At the very least, you'll be able to hear the music from here, and see the guests as they arrive. Imagine what the dancing will look like.
The day of the Ball comes, and you're as drowned in stuffy formality as you'd predicted. Most guests don't have any weapons to hand over, except for the Princesses, most of whom don't have a problem handing over their weapons. Except for Princess Adora, but that encounter doesn't take long, and then you're entirely alone.
You're just about to write off the whole ball as a boring disappointment and sneak out to pilfer some hors d'oeuvres when the voices of the last-arriving guests draws your attention back to your assignment, and with a head-shake you come to full attention again.
"I'm telling you, Catra, you'd look soo much better if you just let me fix your tie..." She whines, and you turn to see the approaching pair.
For just a moment, the thought of how bored you are, of whatever mischief you'd been thinking about, of whatever drivel you've been assigned to completely flies out of your mind, and you're consumed with the sight greeting you. The princess in front of you, one claw delicately holding her companion's fashionably undone tie, is tall, strong, and utterly enchanting. She's all sharp edges and sleek black silk, and you can't help but wonder how much effort it would take her to pick you up. Probably not much.
"Uhh, hey?" She speaks, not for the first time, pulling you out of the daze. "We're, ah, at the weapons check, right?"
You blink, and then nod, grip on your - going slack for a second. Miss the mischievous look on her companion's face, the sneaky thing she murmurs before striding off to the crowd, turning out pockets and pulling the sides of her jacket away in one fluid motion to reveal a lack of weapons without pause.
"Right, yes ma'am!" You nod again, coming to sharp attention, and the Princess giggles, one claw over her mouth politely. "May I see your invitation for a moment?"
She complies, holding the scroll out with gentle claw, and you find yourself feeling almost lost. Running the authenticator over it, inert crystal glowing bright blue momentarily, numbly.
When you hand it back, she smiles and draws herself up as if mimicking your stiff posture. "Fo- I mean, Princess Scorpia of the Fright Zone reporting in. My, uh, my plus one kind of wandered off, there, but she's, uh, with me!"
You smirk, softening your posture to try to put her at ease, elbows resting on the chilly counter. "Oh, of course, Princess. Enjoy the ball, I hope it's worth the wait." Despite the embarrassment threatening to swallow you up, you can't help but throw out, as she turns back to head off to the party, "And I love your dress, by the way!"
"Oh, you think?" She halts, and you notice just now the chunky gems running around her waist. "I wasn't sure about the whole asymmetrical thing, not very 'princess-like', but then Catra said-"
She seems to be getting caught up in a spiral, and you push forward a bit, pulling the mask from your face (and breaking uniform in the process, but you're already going to be in so much trouble as it is) so you can see her better.
"Yeah, you look really nice. Very fancy." She gives a scoff, bringing one claw to her cheek as it to cover a blush. You can't help the way you grin, enraptured.
There's a shuffling somewhere behind you, not far from the rack of inert weapons, but you ignore it for just a moment.
A mistake, as it turns out.
"Wow, that's.... really nice of you to say..." Scorpia smiles, though it doesn't quite reach her eyes, and you feel something sharp nick your forearm. "I'm, ah, I'm really sorry about this, but..."
Everything after that is dark.

There's the soft shuffle of feet on stone, of the hem of a dress skirting the ground. Then Adora's warm body is beside her. Catra does not turn to look at her. Instead she runs the brush carefully over the sensitive base of her ears.
“What are you thinking about?” Adora asks, her voice hushed even though there is no one else here. There is, for once, no one else watching.
I am thinking that your mother is an indescribable hypocrite, Catra thinks, but she doesn’t want to spark another argument. Shadow Weaver, a vyrkolakas, has made it abundantly clear how much she loathes Catra for the feline blood that Pan bestowed her with. Though Catra is a creature of the Gods and will live many of Adora’s lifetimes, she is not a prince. She is not the daughter of Atremis, or Aphrodite, or Athena. She is another of Pan’s cast offs. And none of Pan’s castoffs have ever known a lick of fame.
“I am thinking,” she says instead, “that there are never any happy heroes.”
“How do you mean?” Adora asks.
“Consider. Adam went mad and killed his family. Teela lost her husband and father. Zodak’s former wife murdered his new wife and their children." There are never any happy endings for heroes.
Adora deserves a happy ending.
"I'm not really a hero--"
"Don't be an idiot." Catra snaps sharp like she so often does. Everything comes easily to Adora. She is bright and beautiful. She is going to become famous on the shores of Eternia. She is loved. She i s adored.
She is everything that Catra is not.
"You are a hero." At the very least she is destined to become one. That is why they are here with Light Hope after all; to prepare.
"I am no Adam." Adora scoffs, looking down at her lap.
"No," Catra concedes, "you are better."
Adora looks at her then, gaze focused like a notched arrow. Catra does not falter beneath it.
"Your mother," she says carefully, "she really cannot see us?"
"No," Adora answers firmly.
Catra closes the space between them.
It is not the first time they have kissed.
It is the first time they have been able to kiss freely. And Catra has never felt so desperate.

Someone else’s words on the whole clone slave thing
While browsing reddit, i found this interesting take from a user called :  spiderqueendemon and i felt the need to share it because it was  so good.
Here’s the link to it
“I was feeling exactly that, too. I was even a little squicked out by the shipping at first. But then I remembered that clones...they tend to be programmed. That makes a difference, a big one. And then, in one of the fandom sites, someone pointed out the proximity of the vitrines to the programming creches where Bow accidentally zapped Wrong Hordak. Theoretically, clones are grown to full-size in vitrines and then get all their toxic, creepy Prime brainwashing just, uploaded into them via the neck ports, right? So Wrong Hordak, sweet cinnamon roll that he is, yeah, bro was literally born either that day or yesterday.
If Hordak's defect was found, what, a few cycles of the Velvet Glove in before Prime decided "oh, yuck, a broken one," and sent him to die on the front lines, despite being full-sized and cognitively adult-seeming, to look at things experientially and physically, he could have been essentially as young as days or even weeks old when he got dumped on Etheria. Utterly toxic upbringing, no positive support, no positive role models, no positive guidance, plenty of abuse, self-loathing by the bucketful, just an innocent who's been weaponized and dumped by the plot to see what happens.
Meaning...he's basically just an uncute Catra with no blonde best friend. Boys aren't as forgivable as girls, even if they do like backless dresses and eyeliner with their armor like adorable non-genderconforming Goths. Bats aren't as cute as cats. Stoicism in the face of a physical disability isn't as sympathetic as emotional turmoil and PTSD from serious abuse. There's none of that purring or pining or miscellaneous cuteness that lets Catra get away with what she does, being like 17 and a cute, hot-mess lesbian. Hordak presents as like 30, looks like he shops at the Hot Topic of the Evil Overlord Mall and the only being he seems to have any connection to whatsoever is this thing he apparently made in his spare time and treats as a beloved pet. Everyone else thinks Imp is creepy. Hordak pets him and lets him have snuggles on his lap. Nobody else even talks to Hordak except to give brief reports. Nobody else is close to him. Nobody else would want to be. Perhaps he likes it that way, or perhaps the Prime programming just has him convinced he doesn't deserve anything better. He takes an interest in his people, though, and seems to like it when Imp repeats what his Cadets and Force Captains are up to. He knows what's going on in his organization, Force Captain orientation is well designed, they're an equal opportunity employer...and for all the other princesses didn't think much of Scorpia's kingdom even before the Horde, by her own explanation, Hordak thinks enough of her to include her technical princess status and the fact that she is nonetheless a respected part of the Horde in Force Captain orientation.
Bad as he is to face on the battlefield as an enemy, Hordak is not a bad boss.
For such an intensely lonely person, he really does show signs of liking people. It's really like he doesn't consider himself to deserve them, or as if he fears what will happen when someone else finds out about his 'defect' and rejects him all over again. Just like Prime.
If we can excuse Glimmer for being a teenager who lost her mom, if we can excuse Catra for being a teenager and having the most shitty mother-figure ever, knowing what we learn from Wrong Hordak, I think we have to reconsider exactly how culpable Hordak is. Never excusing his actions, of course, (for one thing, I don't think he'd let us even if Perfuma herself were his defense attorney and argued for that with a bouquet of literal bleeding heart flowers,) but there's definitely a mitigating factor you could drive a spaceship through. Even the mess with Shadow Weaver...of course he wouldn't have known to stop her from treating Adora and Catra the way she did. How was Shadow Weaver any different from Prime? If Prime was right and correct, well...yeah.
Hordak is a terrifying villain at first because he's scary. Then he's scary because he's frightening and yet also competent. Then you find out what's going on and see that he's competent in spite of so damn much, and that makes him scarier. But then you find out what built him...and Hordak was never the problem.
Hordak was basically just a fairly advanced, bioengineered bot doing what bots are told to do by their programming. No wonder Entrapta looked at him and saw potential. Taking a bot someone else built, upgrading them to actual sentience and setting them free to be an actual, autonomous character who can do as they like and choose to be friends with her if they wish? That's...kind of how she rolls, you know? Emily's literally in the scene, being foreshadowing on three legs, one of which sticks. It's all right there.
And given that technological innovation can cut both ways...yeah. Why execute a guy who built V2s to bomb London when you can keep a close eye on him and put him to work on the Apollo space program? So long as Hordak fixes what he broke and sets the kind of example of reconciliation and restorative justice the rest of the clones will need (and we've seen that as far as Reasonable Authority Figures, logistical competence and tactical capability goes, he's got a country mile on everyone else save Netossa,) yeah. With time and supervision, I could see him turning it around in the end.
That is, if Mermista doesn't drown him first for sacking Salineas. Heck with Beast Island, I think the community service should start right there. Sea Hawk and Entrapta will be up to their ears keeping their significant others under control, between Mermista's entirely justified anger and Hordak's dignified but destructive self-loathing, but in the end, I think they'd get things fixed and upgraded. A bot that senses negative emotions and dispenses soft-serve ice cream would be a good innovation for this project.
...good God, if my kid doesn't put on a different show soon...”

Catradora Fluff Prompt: Smitten kissing and flirting in bed
tumblr isn't letting me add line breaks rn so I'll make sure to put them in later!! until then I apologize to all scrolling past xx
~*~
It was amazing how long Adora could sleep in. A little annoying, too, as Catra hated being the only one awake in the giant bedroom at Bright Moon, but it wasn’t like she could really hold it against her. Transforming into an eight-foot tall warrior goddess that channelled all of Etheria’s magic out of the heart and back into the world less than a day ago could understandably knock a person out, even if it had been awe-inspiring to witness at the time.
Catra had chosen to remain in bed with her still-slumbering girlfriend. Deep down she knew that while she could have gotten up and gotten dressed and gone downstairs to have breakfast with the princesses and it would have been fine, a part of her was hesitant to face them with the comforting presence of Adora. So, she stayed. Besides - it was amusing to watch Adora sleep. She kept mumbling and kicking out at some dream foe.
It was cuter than Catra would ever admit to her face.
Glimmer had come to check on them, once, as the sun continued to rise higher in the sky. Catra had faked being asleep, but her enhanced hearing still caught the girl humming in contentment and whispering, “Well, they need their rest,” before she left and quietly shut the door behind her.
Perhaps Adora more than herself, Catra mused, but still true.
At one point Catra rolled over onto her side to look at her girlfriend as she slept, and found her face getting red at the mere thought.
Girlfriend. Wow.
She almost couldn’t understand how she’d been so lucky - ‘almost’ being the key word because she knew if Adora was anything she was unconditional. She’d always believed in her, even when Catra was at her lowest point. Not that this knowledge made her feel less lucky, of course. It still didn’t feel real to say that her girlfriend was the legendary She-Ra.
But after eons of telling herself that she hated Adora, couldn’t stand her, blamed her for everything that had gone wrong that in reality she herself had caused, and then to finally admit that all that time she’d loved Adora, she was in love with her, she always had been and always would be, and then to learn Adora loved her, too… It was surreal. She’d already pinched her arm to make sure she wasn’t dreaming.
Adora grumbled something in her sleep, flinging her arm out and nearly hitting Catra, which was suffice to say enough to snap Catra out of her awestruck reverie. She hissed instinctively, dropping flat on her back to avoid getting smacked in the face.
Adora’s hand then fell down to her side, and a satisfied smile formed on her sleeping features. Maybe she’d defeated whomever she was dream-fighting.
Catra waited a moment to make sure her girlfriend wouldn’t unconsciously attack her again before returning to her position of resting on her side, bracing her head on her right arm. Adora’s hair had fallen straight across her nose and over her lips, and Catra sighed in amusement as she gently pushed it away.
Adora wrinkled her nose at the touch, and Catra felt the blood rush to her face when she heard her whisper, “Catra…?”
Sleep talk. “Embarrassing,” Catra grumbled to herself, but she still moved closer to Adora’s side, locking their hands together and burying her face in Adora’s shoulder.
This movement seemed to finally wake Adora, which Catra mildly regretted but was mostly relieved to see.
“Mm… Good morning,” she said, giving Catra’s hand a gentle squeeze and smiling at her softly with sleepy eyes.
Catra snorted. “Barely.”
Adora frowned, confusion flickering on her face. “Barely good, or…” She trailed off, yawning. “Or barely morning?”
“Oh, definitely good,” Catra purred into her girlfriend’s shoulder. “But not morning. It’s almost noon.”
Adora groaned and tried to sit up, though Catra threw her free arm over her chest to prevent her from doing so. “Why didn’t anyone wake me up? There’s so much to get done today.”
Catra smirked, lifting her head slightly to better look at her. “Well, you of all people are in desperate need of beauty sleep, so -”
“Oh, shut up,” Adora laughed, grabbing her pillow from behind her head and hitting Catra with it.
Catra’s response was to hiss, mock-glaring at her as she tried to pull away, but in doing so started to fall off the edge of the bed. Adora, considerably more alert than when she’d first woken up, sat up and grabbed her girlfriend’s hand before pulling her back onto the mattress, tugging her into her chest when they were both left sitting upright on the bed.
“Stop falling off of things,” Adora murmured, one hand resting on Catra’s lower back and the other gently stroking her short hair.
Catra’s face had turned a shade darker than scarlet, and she was silently thankful Adora was holding her closely and couldn’t see her blushing. And, well… She liked being close to Adora. “First of all, you’re one to talk about falling off of things,” she grumbled, but there was no bite in her voice. “Besides, I have you to catch me.”
Adora’s body stiffened, her hand pausing on the back of Catra’s head.
Catra leaned back slightly to look up at her. “You okay?”
Adora sighed, moving her hand away to push loose strands of hair out of her face. “Yeah. Just…” She gave her a gentle, if weak, smile. “In shock, I guess?”
‘Shock’ was probably an understatement for the traumatic experiences they’d all endured, but Catra didn’t want to talk about any of it yet. From the looks of it, Adora didn’t want to, either. Catra could tell what Adora was thinking, anyways - what if she hadn’t been there to catch her? What if she hadn’t saved Catra from Horde Prime? What if, what if, what if?
Catra knew her girlfriend was thinking about subjects like that because she herself had been consumed by what if she hadn’t been with Adora to activate the Failsafe and other… distressing thoughts only an hour or so earlier, while Adora had still been asleep.
“Understandable.” Catra took a turn pushing Adora’s hair out of her face and behind her ear, giving her girlfriend a gentle smile that made her feel terrifyingly vulnerable. But with Adora… She didn’t mind. As much, at least. “But we’re here now. Together. It’s over.”
Adora managed a laugh, wiping a stray tear from her eye. “God, shouldn’t I be the one comforting you? At least - at least I’m in a familiar place with people I’ve known for ages and it wasn’t like I was the one chipped by Horde Prime and yet -” Her voice cracked, and her gaze dropped to the space between them. “And yet I’m a mess.” She sighed, wiping her face again. “Sorry. I know I’m just insecure and stupid.”
Catra rolled her eyes, and she lifted Adora’s chin to meet her gaze. “You’re not stupid, Adora. Don’t beat yourself up about this. We’ve both been fighting a war since before we could walk.” Ugh. Now she was feeling weepy. Stupid emotions. “And don’t act like either of us has had it worse or whatever, okay?” They’d always be there to comfort each other, anyways, so long as Catra had anything to say about it.
Adora placed her free hand on top of Catra’s, guiding her girlfriend’s hand up from her chin to cup her face, closing her eyes and leaning into it. “Thank you.”
Catra blushed, and she knew her tail had started flicking faster to keep up with her racing heart. “Yeah. You’re, uh, welcome. Or whatever.”
Her blush deepened as Adora laughed. “Aw. You’re so cute when you’re flustered.” Both of her hands moved to Catra’s waist. “Makes me want to kiss you again.”
There was a pause. Catra was fairly certain her heart stopped beating for a good ten seconds.
Then Adora’s face turned a deep pink, her eyes widening. “I - okay, wow, that was really forward, I’m so sorry. I don’t - I don’t want to rush you into anything you don’t want to do -”
“You can,” Catra interrupted. “Kiss me. Again.”
Adora blinked. “Really?”
Catra rolled her eyes, trying and probably failing to act collected and nonchalant about the matter. “Believe me, I wouldn’t have offered if I didn’t mean it.”
Adora hesitated, anxiety flickering in her eyes. Catra seized the moment to take initiative, leaning forward and draping her arms over Adora’s shoulders as she placed an intense kiss on her lips.
Adora hummed in delight - a ridiculously adorable sound - and deepened the kiss, her grip tightening on Catra’s waist to pull her in closer.
Adora’s lips were chapped, and Catra knew her own couldn’t have been much better, but there was something so blissful about kissing her beautiful, badass girlfriend without the threat of the planet’s destruction looming over their heads. Catra wouldn’t have traded this moment for the world.
And when Adora finally pulled away, Catra was mortified to hear herself purring loudly, with her embarrassment only exacerbated by her girlfriend’s knowing smirk. “Shut up.”
“I didn’t say anything!”
“You were thinking it.”
“Oh please.”
Catra did what she knew best to counter Adora’s teasing - she pounced on her, in true cat-like fashion. Adora burst out laughing and held her arms up to defend herself, and the two wrestled and rolled over and both ended up falling off the side of the bed and onto the floor.
Adora landed on top, her hands on either side of Catra’s shoulders to brace herself and not crush her girlfriend.
Catra’s face had reddened as a result of the… position they’d landed in, but was comforted by the blush painted on Adora’s face, too. Such casual intimacy was not unfamiliar to either of them, but the change in their relationship made everything simultaneously more exciting and more embarrassing.
Catra found herself staring at Adora, soaking in her appearance - her gray tank top and white shorts, her blonde hair falling free around her shoulders. God, she was beautiful. Ethereal, even without the glowing power of She-Ra.
How had Catra gotten so lucky?
Adora gently ran her hand over Catra’s bangs. “I still can’t believe you love me,” she admitted. “I mean, I know you do. But it… still feels too good to be true.”
Catra sat up, Adora moving backwards and off of her to allow them to sit face to face again. “Yeah. It does.” Raised in the Horde, they were both taught that there was nothing a person inherently deserved. Everything had to be earned. And it was hard, maybe even harder for Adora, but it was a mindset they were both gradually unlearning. “But I do. Love you.” She slipped her hands into Adora’s. “A lot.”
Adora smiled, and she leaned forward to press their foreheads together. “I love you, too.” Her smile widened. “A lot.”
Catra was certain of only two things, she decided, one being how much she loved Adora and how much Adora loved her. The other was just as simple. Maybe even more so.
“Everything is going to be okay, isn’t it?”
Adora laughed, and God if it wasn’t the most beautiful sound Catra had ever heard. “Yeah. I think it is.”

I love my big cuddly scorpion wife
So, if your a friend of mine or a follower who hasn’t watched She-Ra and the Princesses of Power (or spop), first of all you really should, and second of all that’s fine. But you may have seen me being an absolute simp for a character, technically 2 as of late. But this is the one I’m a bigger simp for.
This right here, is Scorpia
Tumblr media
AKA my big cuddly scorpion wife. I absolutely LOVE her, and here’s why!
1. She’s too pretty for words
2. As she says, she’s a hugger. And an amazing one. I would like nothing more then to hug her all day long and just cuddle with her
3. She’s too friendly for her own good, and her energy would absolutely match up with mine
4. She has these big fucking pincers that are just cool as hell
5. S T R O N G.   L A D Y. Strong lady make gay brain go brrrrrr
6. Even though she is (was) technically part of the evil side, she somehow had good morals and kept them throughout the entire show
7. Her entire... everything is just so sweet and welcoming
8. HOLY FUCK HAVE YOU SEEN THIS WOMAN IN A DRESS??
9. Her voice.... oh my god, as if her regular voice wasn’t enough, I melt every time I listen to her singing for the first time
10. She’s smart. Well, ok not entirely. But she’s relatively smart. When I say smart, I’m talking about how she had stuck with Catra for so long, even when Catra was nothing short of a bitch to her. And we were all shaking our heads no. But Scorpia finally realized that Catra WASN’T good for her, and that she was being abused. So she did the smart thing, and left the Horde
11. She’s like a child a lot of the time, like that one episode when the rebellion was making plans to take back Drill and she was getting nervous at the “plans” they were making
12. She just makes me smile
13. All she wants to do is be a good friend to everyone
14. She didn’t skip force captain orientation *cough cough* Catra *cough cough*
15. I want to protect her from everything that wants to hurt her in this world
16. She’s strong, and she knows it. But she wouldn’t hurt a fly, unless she’s actually fighting. And I love that. Because even though she’s big and looks intimidating and scary, she is genuinely one of the nicest, sweetest, prettiest, and most amazing people you will ever meet.
17. (goes along with 16) So even though she has the ability to snap me in half like a twig, she won’t. Because she’s just too sweet and too loving
Scorpia is just such an amazing character, and I adore her so much. I love her, no doubt about it. It honestly might be a little unhealthy how much I love her.
But I don’t give a fuck, because I love my big cuddly scorpion wife with all my heart.

Breakfast
Direct follow-up to “I’m here”, it would be best to read that one first. “At the end of the world” and “About what happened...” are also both referenced, but you don’t necessarily have to read them to understand this story.
Takes place in between “Taking Control” and “Perils of Peekablue”. This assumes that traveling from Etheria to Prime’s flagship and back took them at least three weeks each, because of their old ship, their limited knowledge of the technology and the lack of any ability to teleport or create portals. I have no idea if that’s accurate, but then again, nobody really knows how much time passes during the show.
Summary: In which Catra tried to make breakfast and it’s better than everyone expected it to be (but that might just be because Adora set the bar extremely low with her first attempt at cooking), Glimmer can’t help clinging to Bow after the precious night, Bow reflects on his feelings towards Glimmer and Adora has no idea why she gets so nervous around Catra all of a sudden, but is just glad to finally be able to call her a friend again.
Also, Entrapta casually calls everyone out on their feelings.
[The amount of Glimbow and Catradora in this is pretty much 50/50.]
Best Friend Squad-bonding in space? Best Friend Squad-bonding in space.
Bow and Glimmer were rudely awoken by the sound of the door swooshing open and unpleasantly loud voices.
She still had her arms around him the same way she had when they’d fallen asleep, and she didn’t plan on letting go anytime soon.
“See? I told you so! That’s exactly why I didn’t want to go back in here.”
“Huh, and here I thought you were just looking for an excuse to share the mattress with me again.”
“What? Me? Nooo...”
They heard Adora laugh.
“Do... do you think we should let them sleep?”
“You should have thought about that before you barged in here,” Glimmer murmured groggily and threw a pillow roughly in the direction the voices had come from without opening her eyes.
She was way too tired for this nonsense.
‘Whoever said space is peaceful and quiet definitely never traveled with these guys.’
“Good morning...?“
Bow blinked, still half asleep when he sat up on the mattress. He kind of dragged Glimmer up with him accidentally because she was still unwilling to let go of him.
...not that he minded.
“What are you guys doing in here?” Glimmer wondered, rubbing the sleep out of her eyes, yawning.
Her grip on boy tightened a bit when she saw Wrong Hordak. He seemed to be pretty okay, but he brought back a lot of bad memories, and she didn’t think she’d ever get used to that.
“Well, Adora and Catra just spent a weird amount of time commenting on your sleeping position, especially considering I found them in the same one,” Entrapta analyzed with her usual enthusiasm.
The two girls flushed scarlet.
Bow grinned.
“Awwww, you guys were spooning?”
“We. Were. Not. Spooning,” Catra growled, but then she dropped the demeanor, her face turning into a sheepish grin. “...and also, I might have burnt breakfast.”
That genuinely surprised Glimmer, but in a positive way.
“You tried to make breakfast?”
Catra grinned sheepishly and rubbed the back of her neck.
“Well, yeah. Emphasis on tried. I mean, you cooked for us once, and Arrow Boy did it the rest of the week, and I just... thought I should try it? Argh, I... I don’t know. Maybe that was a stupid idea. Especially because I don’t know how to cook.”
Glimmer shrugged.
“No, that’s fine. It’s... really nice of you, actually. And I don’t think anyone here knows how to cook, except for Bow maybe.”
Adora chuckled.
“Yeah, she has a point.”
“I mean, it can’t be as bad as when Adora tried to make food. We ended up with half-cooked broccoli with chocolate sauce and sprinkles for dinner,” Bow pointed out, shrugging. “It looked kind of nice, but...”
He was trying to be polite, but really, there hadn’t been much in the meal his friend had made that one could be polite about. There was a difference between ‘you clearly haven’t cooked before and your cooking still needs a some work’ and ‘your cooking is literally weapons-grade’.
Glimmer’s face went green.
“Oh stars, don’t remind me. I still want to throw up just thinking about that.”
Catra’s eyes widened.
“Adora did what?!”
She had never tried either of these things, personally, but she roughly knew what they were, and even she could tell that there was no way these were supposed to go together.
The blonde scratched the back of her head.
“It wasn’t as bad as it sounds...” Glimmer gave her a death glare. “...you know what? Actually, it was.”
Adora blinked for a moment. Why had she tried to defend the terrible food she’d made? She was usually totally cool with the others joking about her really, really poor first attempt at cooking, especially because she herself knew that it had been awful and that she would never try that combination again.
And yet, today she felt a pang of... embarrassment?
Weird. Why would she...
‘It isn’t because Catra’s here, is it? She knows what I’m like, better than anyone, so I doubt this surprises her. And, I mean, there are other ways I could impress her than cooking!’
...wait, why would she want to impress Catra?
That made no sense.
Adora shook her head and abandoned these thoughts.
“And that’s the story why almighty She-Ra over here is banished from Bright Moon’s kitchen,” Glimmer concluded, giggling.
Catra chuckled. That did make her feel a little better about her own cooking skills.
And Adora getting a tad bit embarrassed was also a nice bonus. She looked really cute when she was embarrassed.
...damn, Catra had missed her best friend.
“Not to worry, you guys. No broccoli today. Would have been hard to make anyway, seeing as we have no broccoli on the ship,” the brunette promised. “You guys coming?”
Glimmer smiled.
“Sure, we’ll just get dressed real quick, and then we’ll be right there.”
“How are you?” Bow asked his best friend as soon as the door closed behind the others.
Glimmer gave him a small smile.
“Better, I think.” She nuzzled against the crook of his neck. “Just tired.“
He stroked her head.
“You’ll never be a morning person, huh?”
She laughed, visibly relaxing a bit. Being with Bow always made her feel so much better...
“I mean, technically, there are no mornings in space – but no, I’m definitely never going to be a morning person. At this rate, our kids are going to have to wake me one day instead of me waking them.”
Bow stared at her for a second.
Had she just...?
No. No way. Glimmer wouldn’t... she didn’t... they were close, obviously, but... he’d know if she had feelings for him, right?
“You think they’ll be close? ...our kids, I mean,” he added when he saw the confused look on her face. “You know, since you suggested they’d come wake you up together.”
“Yeah. Right. They’ll be best friends, just like us. I’m sure of that,” Glimmer replied, just kind of going with what he had said because oh stars she couldn’t believe she’d just suggested having kids like that without even telling him she was in love with him first.
Bow shook his head and smiled at her softly.
Of course that was what she’d meant.
The mental image of their kids also being best friends one day was adorable.
Despite that, for a moment, he couldn’t help but imagine a girl with his dark curls and Glimmer’s beautiful eyes and a little boy with his eyes and her cute little nose and smile climbing into bed to wake them, him and Glimmer still sleepily embracing each other the same way they had tonight.
‘Huh.’
He really had caught feelings for her, after all.
...or maybe he’d always felt that way about her and hadn’t realized what his feelings truly were until he’d almost lost her.
That thought had always terrified him, but this had been so much worse than anything he could ever have imagined.
This was already the second really close call since they’d met. He’d do everything in his power to make sure there would never be a third.
He hugged her. She snuggled against him. He felt his cheeks heat.
It was weird. As mad as he’d been at her, and as terrified as he’d been about possibly losing her, apparently this was what he’d needed to put some things about their relationship into perspective.
“Hey Bow?” She asked, pulling him from his thoughts.
“Yeah?”
“Thanks again for earlier. I don’t know what I’d do without you.”
He smiled at her.
“Of course. Anytime.”
He’d tell her eventually. Maybe.
But now was not the time.
After a while of comfortably sitting like that in silence, Bow spoke up again.
“Come on, we should actually get dressed now, before the others-”
Too late. Catra stuck her head in again.
“Hey, are you guys coming? If you keep making out in the cabin for another hour, the food will taste burnt and be cold by the time you join us!”
Glimmer blushed scarlet and let go of Bow, like that would change anything about what Catra just saw.
“We were not making out!” She protested – then realized how weird her reaction had just been.
She and Bow hugged all the time. Hugging was a normal thing that friends did. There was no need for her to be embarrassed about anyone catching them.
Glimmer shook her head.
‘Well that was subtle... I just made everything worse, didn’t I?’
Surprisingly, though, Catra didn’t bring it up again.
“Sure, whatever. Now get up and get dressed so you can join us for breakfast.”
“So... what do you think?”
Catra was super nervous what the others thought about the food she’d made because she was pretty sure it wasn’t terrible – she’d tried it beforehand, of course, she wasn’t trying to poison anyone, after all –, and she really wanted to do something nice for everyone after they’d saved her and been so nice and kind to her despite everything that had happened between them... that she’d done to them.
“This is actually pretty neat,” Glimmer concluded after a while of chewing.
Bow nodded in agreement, and Adora was already moved to tears because Catra had tried at all.
“This is the best thing I have ever eaten,” the blonde breathed, just loud enough for Catra to hear.
The brunette shook her head.
“That’s sweet, dummy, but we both know the food Bow and Glimmer made was way better.”
But Adora shook her head. She meant it. She really did.
The food made her feel warm inside, in a way it couldn’t when Bow or Glimmer cooked.
Wrong Hordak was just eating quietly.
Entrapta put her fork down and cocked her head to the side in curiosity.
“Is that something you do as friends? Lie to the other person to make them feel better about their inadequate skills? Fascinating...”
Catra flattened her ears.
‘Ouch.’
“We’re not lying, Entrapta. This is actually pretty good,” Glimmer chimed in. “Especially considering this is her first time cooking. You can’t let someone cook for the first time in their life and then except the kind of meal professional kitchen staff would make. Besides, Adora has been trying to learn how to cook for years, and let me tell you, it did not get much better after the broccoli with sprinkles-incident. Somehow, Adora is still worse after years of trying than Catra was at her first attempt.”
“Hey!”
There it was again. Adora was embarrassed for no reason. The fact that she couldn’t cook wasn’t a secret, and she usually didn’t even care about it. Other people joking about that was fine. And it wasn’t like that was a skill that really mattered at the moment.
What was going on?
Catra chuckled.
‘Wow. She has a really nice laugh.’
Adora shook her head.
She knew that. She’d always known that. Why was she thinking about that now?
“So that’s your biggest weakness huh? Who would’ve thought! Etheria’s almighty hero, defeated by a stove and a frying pan,” Catra teased her, grinning.
“...shut up.”
Adora tried to sound annoyed, but she was visibly beaming when she nudged the brunette. She was just happy that, after all this time, she could finally call Catra her friend again.
“Never,” Catra replied teasingly as she nudged Adora back. “That’s the only thing I’m going to be talking about for the rest of my life.” Her grin widened. “Hey, that means I can now officially put ‘cooks better than She-Ra’ on my resume, right? Oh, I know! I need a cup that says that! Or an apron!”
Adora giggled.
“You’re an idiot.”
“Yeah, well, at least I’m an idiot that can cook,” Catra shot back, sticking her tongue out at the blonde.
They were all laughing now, except for Entrapta, who was speaking into her voice recorder.
“After a couple of days of observations, I think I can safely conclude that it is indeed still very much mutual.” She squealed. “Oh, that means I can update Scorpia when we get back home! How exciting!”
Catra winced a bit when hearing her former friend’s name. Scorpia had been nothing but kind to her from the start, and Catra had been the worst friend possibly imaginable. She felt awful. Scorpia deserved an apology – or twenty –, and then, maybe, she’d forgive her. Maybe they could actually be friends this time. Or maybe Scorpia wouldn’t want the person that hurt her back in her life, and that would be okay, too, despite the sting Catra felt when she thought about it. What mattered was that Scorpia was happy, no matter what she would choose – just like it had been with Adora.
Catra was done making everyone miserable – herself included.
“Update Scorpia on wha-” Glimmer started, then stopped in mid-sentence. “On second thought, I don’t think I even want to know.”
Entrapta blinked, then eyed Bow and Glimmer.
“Speaking of, you two are also interestingly close today. Amount of touching in comparison to the last couple of days increased by about twenty percent. That brings us pretty close to a hundred percent so far! I don’t think Glimmer has stopped holding onto your arm since you two entered the room... Should I write that down? I’m going to write that down.” She thought about the best way to word it for a moment. “There appears to be a chance that travelers will develop an increased need for physical contact while in space, as indicated by four different research subjects.”
There was a moment of very awkward silence as everyone but Wrong Hordak blushed scarlet and tried to avoid eye contact with the person they were sitting with... but Catra didn’t move from where she was sitting, and Glimmer still didn’t let go of Bow’s arm.
In the end, it was Adora that broke the silence as she cleared her throat and looked directly at Glimmer and Bow.
“Entrapta’s kind of right. You two do seem even more attached at the hip today than usual.“
They looked very cozy. It was pretty cute.
Glimmer had to bite back a comment about how Adora was really one to talk, with Catra sitting on her lap and all.
Over the course of the last few days, Catra had slowly moved closer and closer to Adora during meals – which had been blatantly obvious to anyone but Adora – until on the prior day, Catra had carefully touched her arm, and Adora had pulled her a little closer, which the brunette had taken as a signal that they maybe could go back to the way they used to be. Her initial shyness had melted away from her now, and she’d gone from sitting next to her friend to straight up planting herself in Adora’s lap today. The blonde hadn’t complained one bit.
“Did something happen?” Adora asked when neither of them replied.
Glimmer‘s semi-good mood disappeared instantly as she remembered the previous night. Her mouth went dry. Her voice was incredibly monotone as she spoke.
“Nothing, I just... had a nightmare,” she said.
“Right. One,” Bow murmured, glancing at his best friend worriedly.
She immediately elbowed him in the ribs for that.
Adora already had enough on her plate as it was, there was no need to worry her further, especially with something as silly as a couple of nightmares.
“But I’m all better now.”
Her smile didn’t quite reach her eyes, but apparently it was convincing enough for Adora to not dig deeper.
Catra kept quiet, but gave the Queen a sympathetic, encouraging look that made Glimmer certain the brunette knew what it felt like.
All things considered, Catra had definitely had it way worse than Glimmer on Prime’s ship. Glimmer shuddered at the thought of being robbed of her free will, of being forced to fight the people she loved.
Didn’t that mean that Glimmer was just being a baby that was upset for no reason? If Catra could cope with that, why couldn’t Glimmer even calm herself long enough to let go of Bow’s arm?
She closed her eyes and tried to keep herself from shaking. It didn’t work very well.
Apparently guessing where Glimmer‘s mind went, Catra coughed a bit and spoke up.
“Sparkles, listen, I... I know we’re pretty different, but nightmares always suck, no matter how bad they are, and I don’t think they can be compared anyway because different people are afraid of different things. It’s good that you have someone there to comfort you.” She snuggled against the crook of Adora’s neck. “But I’m glad you’re feeling a bit better.”
“I... thank you.” Glimmer’s smile felt less fake now. Bow nodded at Catra appreciative as he put an arm around his best friend. Adora was thankfully way too distracted by the brunette purring against her chest to really listen to what they were talking about. It was better that way. “What about you guys? How did you sleep?”
“Good. Great actually.” Adora beamed. “I don’t think I’ve slept this good in years.”
Since she’d left the Horde, to be precise.
“Yeah, me too. I... really missed sleeping next to you,” Catra mumbled, blushing.
“What do you mean, ‘missed’?” Glimmer raised an eyebrow. “You’ve done this before?”
“Pretty much every day before I left.” Adora grinned smugly. “She couldn’t sleep without me.”
“Oh.”
...that actually explained a lot – especially the time Adora had climbed into Glimmer’s bed because she hadn’t been used to sleeping alone. She hadn’t just meant that referring to the fact that she’d been sharing her room with so many other cadets before. She also hadn’t been used to sleeping alone in her bed, because she’d shared it with Catra for so long before leaving the Horde.
Catra blushed even more, and her first instinct was to get defensive and deny it... but then she didn’t. She’d promised herself to be a little more open with her emotions, after all.
“It started back when we were kids, actually... and then we got so used to it that we never stopped. The other cadets always said we could give my bed to someone else because I never slept there anyway.” Catra shrugged and laughed. Adora looked at her in surprise... but then her expression melted into a soft smile. She couldn’t remember when she’d last been this happy. “I was losing my mind without you...”
“Being apart from you wasn’t easy for me either.”
Catra bit her lip.
“If I’d just come with you when you asked me to, none of this would have happened. I’m so sorry.”
Adora squeezed her hand and kept her voice down when she started speaking.
“Don’t get me wrong, everything that happened really, really sucked... but I think it kind of needed to happen. Even when we were so close back at the Horde, there was so much standing between us... so many things we didn’t talk about, so many things we never realized about the other, and we both had issues that we had to work through back then. ...that, and we started being an ‘us’ so early on that we needed some time away from each other to learn who we are separately.”
She’d been thinking about that a lot lately.
For a second, Catra was back on Adora’s bed at the Horde, sitting back to back with her best friend, telling her that she wouldn’t know who she’d be without her.
She knew, now.
That Catra kind of sucked... she’d hurt others, and she’d been hurt, until finally, she’d broken down and reflected on everything she’d done, and then she’d cried and drowned herself in regret and guilt. Now, she finally really knew who she was... and who she wanted to be. Now, she would learn from her mistakes, and she would be better.
“We needed to grow apart so we could grow back together,” she whispered when she understood, and it hurt and it sucked because it meant that even if they’d left together, everything still wouldn’t have been fine – but at least it also meant that everything that had happened in the past few years hadn’t happened completely in vain, even though she still wished things had been different. And maybe they could be fine again now. Or better, at the very least. “I’ve made so many mistakes and hurt so many people...”
Adora hugged her best friend from behind.
“These days are over. And now you’ve got all the time in the universe to be better.”
“And I will be. I promise.” Catra smiled softly and squeezed her hand as she snuggled against her.
Bow and Glimmer just gave each other a knowing look while Entrapta was rambling into her voice recorder again.
After a while, Catra looked up at the others and grinned.
“Now that we’ve unveiled my deepest, darkest secret... you guys have got to have some more silly Adora-stories, right?”
Glimmer laughed and cracked her knuckles.
Bow’s and Glimmer’s relationship with Catra was still strained for several reasons... but she was slowly starting to grow on them, now that they could see she was truly changing. She was almost fun to be around.
“Oh, you bet we do.”
Adora sighed.
“...oh no. ”
