there’s something about an art style that appears to break a lot of rules, yet still has a final result so appealing, that I just always love.

I’m not really sure how to articulate exactly what I mean, because to call it “bad” in any way would be a huge disservice to the artists who honed their skills enough in order make it visually appealing, and be capable of comfortably stylising their work. and it’s not really deceptively-simplistic either, like when something is cartoonified or has a “naive” quality. maybe it has airbrushed pillow-shading achieved with the dodge and burn tools, or the proportions are actually a bit wack if you look at them for too long, but none of that matters because it looks Good.

I think when there’s a lot of media out there with largely interchangeable art styles  - and I’m not talking about “booo calarts” criticism, I mean more like game apps and mediocre cartoons with shiny, over-sanitised, over-rendered generic samefaced casts that are objectively well-drawn pieces, but completely lack any character - that slightly amateurish charm really adds a lot.

#yes this is bc of AA again #it's prob bc one of the designers does BL and well we all know how Those proportions are lmao #I know I sound such a ''newer thing isn't good!'' contrarian when I say this but the AA5 onward art direction just doesn't do it for me #it's too soft and pretty and why are so many people's eyes blue #and like I mentioned in the last paragraph it's far from technically weak art. everyone Looks right #but. Just finished Season 2 of Tiger&Bunny, and while I think I prefer the first season better, I did get some new skrunklies. So I can't complain TOO much...

I have, however, figured out my biggest gripe with season 2. And thats Kotetsu. Specifically, with how they drew him and the absolute lack of goofy Kotetsu Content.

A big part of the charm of Kotetsu is he's a Goofy destructive DILF who means well. And I'm all for him looking pretty as a treat but :((( Where is the goofy dad man :(((((

#Tiger&Bunny 2 #I did enjoy Tiger&Bunny2. I have a few gripes but at the end of the day this is one of my favorite series and it holds a special place #Do I think this is how I hoped things would go? Nah. But I'm happy with some of the outcomes anyway #For one? Jhon & JhonJhon. Loved seeing content of them. FireSky is also great. I love them so much #And the skrunklies? *Holds Thomas and Subaru gentle* They're just so :DDDDDD #And can we talk about Karina & Ryan? I love them. They're so fun. And the fandom is also so fun with the Ryan and Karina content. <333 #Origami and Bison was a fun duo of people to see #My favorite thing was just seeing everyone interact. But it made me wish that other scenes had just half the effort put into it #The Yuri Episode happened and I joked to my mom that they spent the entire budget on Yuri being pretty[Which is fair] #But some scenes felt static. Particularly with Kotetsu? (biosh*ck posting, don't mind me) i am aware that the bodies of the men of the alpha series weren't as heavily modified, thus horrifically and grotesquely mutated, like the later series. so it makes sense that delta wouldn't look like the big daddies from the concept art (under read more. tw for body horror). still, seeing fanart of him with his face more or less unchanged, with only a few like scars here and there, and with luscious hair no less, doesn't feel right to me man! maybe during his operation the scientists didn't mess him up that badly, but all that plasmid usage should have definitely deformed him, like all the splicers you encounter in the game. he surely doesn't look like that pin-up big daddy LOL (also under read more)
