Me watching period dramas from multiple counties and thinking to myself... what really brings humans together across time, culture, and country is our desire to exhibit our wealth by having extraordinarily fancy sleeves.
"Do you doubt my great wealth and power? Have you seen my sleeves? The lace is VERY FINE! LOOK HOW MUCH UNNECESSARY FABRIC THERE IS! Did you notice that they have embroidery? BOW BEFORE MY MAGNIFICENT ARM COVERINGS!!!"
And yet today, where are our fancy sleeves?
WHERE ARE THEY?
This is clearly where modern society has gone wrong...

If I was to kick myself into redesigning my ancient link without a care for how annoying it would be consistently redraw the design I’d make this goof more skyward sword sheikah/ancient tech inspired. If he wasn’t a blacksmith/farmhand I’d probably have gone more over the top with clashing patterns and layered fabrics cuz that’s just link for u. Anyway the aesthetic is: practical clutter bich

Not reblogging because I don't want to derail their posts, but Kitkat's and Burgers' discussion of clothing in RWBY makes me really want to see Edna Mode: Remnant Edition. I want to see how unique fashion can be created using materials designed to actually withstand abuse and work with the Semblances/fighting styles of the user ala The Incredibles so bad. Add in the devastatingly-underutilized concepts of "all of our tools and equipment are conduits for Aura" (which would include their uniforms/clothing) and "embedding Dust into clothing is an age-old technique", and a character's choice of fashion could be just as much about function as it is form and actually aid them in their fights.

Apropos of nothing I now love the idea that when Bane and Bhaal appeared to Gortash and Durge in their dreams to make them Chosen, they saw Very different versions of Bane. I would just love if Durge saw the MTG Bane and just got increasingly more confused as he heard Gortash describe the god to the painter that made the BG3 Bane portrait.
About the only thing in common is: Shirtless, Unnatural Eyes, Black Gauntlet (sort of?), some kind of Lightning/Energy?
(Also random headcanon: I like to think that once or twice Durge slipped up and called Bane 'Your dad' when talking to Gortash since he is just used to associating church leadership with being god born and he views himself and Gortash on the same level)
