Chapter Three
Tumblr media
"Hey there, Capitol Boy."
Why are you talking to him? Wait, why is that District mutt even here?
The Academy, deciding that it would benefit all students for their new project, let all senior mentors out of school early to help them get to know their tribute.
It was a bit of a hassle for Coriolanus to get out early. High-as-a-kite-bottom argued that he shouldn't be let out early along with the others because he already had a headstart and was late.
Surprisingly, though, Coriolanus' new best friend, Dr. Gaul, said that since it was his idea for the mentors to get closer to their tributes, Coriolanus should be able to go.
So here he was, at the zoo once more. Only to find Sejanus Plinth, standing close to the cage, with an overflowing backpack of different foods, talking to his tribute.
I thought that I was Capitol Boy?
Coriolanus could see the sandwiches, which looked to be a variety of chicken salad, peanut butter and jelly, and egg salad, but how would he know, he's been eating watery cabbage "soup" for almost his whole life years, small water bottles, and ripe, deep purple plums that were slowing falling out of the bag with all of the other foods.
Reaching Sejanus and Rosalie Jade, he picked up on some of their conversation.
"I used to know him. We were friends."
"I'm sorry to hear that, Sejanus. I can't imagine how that feels, having to see an old friend being forced to fight for his life. That's awful." Trying to comfort him, Rosalie Jade held onto Sejanus' hand while talking
Deciding that enough sympathy hand touches were given to each other, Coriolanus interrupted their little conversation.
"Rosalie Jade, how are you?"
"As fresh as a rose in the winter." She smiled at him.
You're actually going to make me go mad with all for your stupid ass riddles! As fresh as a rose in the winter? What the hell is that supposed to mean?!
Sensing his confusion, Sejanus whispered, "She's not doing good. She's not strong or ready."
Not ready?
Looking at Rosalie Jade and then Sejanus in disbelief, Coriolanus tried to save face. "I knew that, I was conf-concered about her not being ready."
But ready for what?!
"Well course I'm not ready. I'm 12 and goin' to fight to the death for my life!"
Ohh! That's what she meant. Why didn't I figure that out and how did the District mutt figure it out first?
"Which is why I'm here, Rosalie Jade. To help you."
So listen to me and leave this mutt here and let's talk away from him. Far away.
"I know Mr. Snow. But Sejanus here was trying to help everyone get something to eat and since on one was movin’ to get any, I came up to get some and maybe hand out some since they might take it if it’s “from” me rather than Sejanus here. Unless you don't want me or anyone else eatin'?" Rosalie Jade teased him.
"Of course I want you to eat, Rosalie Jade. Just maybe over there, where we can talk about strategies to help you during the games." Coriolanus pointed to an area where there was a rock on the side of the cage Rosalie Jade was in.
"Right, so we can talk about ways I can snap the necks of my opponents. Now that might be a bit hard, with my height an' all." Roslaie Jade joked.
"Rosalie Jade." Sejanus said her name in the way he thought a mother would when their child said something offensive to someone.
"Oh, relax, will ya'? Let me make my jokes. I know I ain't makin' it back home. At least let my mind stay on the sunny side." Rosalie Jade said as she slowly walked away towards the area Coriolanus pointed out earlier.
"Don't say th-"
"What was that? I can't hear you!" Rosalie Jade interrupted Sejanus, making a fake pouty face at him while reaching her hands in front of her, making grabby hands.
"Too far! Oh, the shame! The misery!" She laughed as she turned around and plopped herself down on a large rock.
Sejanus lightly laughed at her antics while Coriolanus scoffed.
She needs to take this seriously. This is her life we're dealing with. My life. Both of our lives. We're connected and she needs to realize that her actions affect me as well. We're in this together, unfortunately.
“Well, she’s not listening to me anymore, might as well leave the bag here in case anyone decides to take any of the food Ma made.”
No one is ever listening to you, Sejanus. And, Ma? Really. We are in public, try to have at least some dignity and decency.
“Yeah. Hey, that was a good idea. Bringing them food and all.”
Maybe if I compliment him, he’ll give me some.
“Thanks! I couldn’t just let them starve in here. You know, no one is feeding them in there. They just threw them in the cage without anything!”
Nope, he’ll just complain to me more. God, when will he get over this. It’s been more than a decade since he came from Two, he needs to get over himself and let it go. And besides, they gave them a working faucet, at least they can drink and clean themselves.
“Yes, well too bad there is nothing we can do about it.”
So let it go.
“But there is! We could get them to stop the Games somehow, then no one would have to worry about having to fight for their own life!” Sejanus exclaimed.
People looked at the boys, surprised by Sejanus’ outburst and in shock from his words. Coriolanus looked around, smiling trying to distance himself a bit farther away from the lunatic boy. He quickly looked towards Rosalie Jade and saw her laying on the rock, her dress splayed out all around her, making it seem like she was lying at the end of a rainbow.
“I’m not talking about this in public of all places, Sejanus. But you need to accept them, you can’t do anything to change them. Thank you again for giving the food to Rosalie Jade, but I have to go to her now.” Coriolanus said, attempting to walk away when he was stopped by hearing Sejanus’ words.
“Wait! Do you think maybe we could trade tributes?”
What?
Coriolanus slowly turned around to look at Sejanus, his face in complete disbelief.
“Pardon me?‘
“It’s just that, well me and her kind of hit it off and my tribute, he just…he just won’t talk to me. Please?” Sejanus rubbed the back of his neck, looking down, embarrassed by his question.
What does he mean, “hit it off?” We hit it off too, right? And why does he want to have Rosalie Jade as his tribute so much? She’s my tribute, not his. Wait, do I finally have something that Sejanus Plinth doesn’t? Or is it that he sees how well she has been doing in Capitol eyes and wants to take that from me? No. I won’t let him. She was given to me, so she is my tribute, not his. And he sure as hell isn’t taking her from me.
“I’m sorry, Sejanus, but I don’t think we can trade tributes. Besides, we already started the project. It wouldn’t benefit either of us if we were to switch tributes now.”
“Ok, sorry for asking. It’s just-nevermind. Bye Coryo.”
Don’t call me Coryo.
“Goodbye Sejanus.”
Finally walking over to Rosalie Jade, he saw that she was now sitting up and finishing the last bit of the sandwich she was given.
Dammit Sejanus.
“Sorry about not bringing any food, I didn’t get the chance”  Coriolanus said, crouching down to her.
“It’s fine! I’m just glad that I even got to meet Sejanus. He was real nice.” Rosalie Jade said, picking up her plum.
Enough about Sejanus!
Coriolanus watched as she bit into her plum, the juices dripping down her chin in slow motion.
He watched in a lustful hunger as she licked her fingers on the excess juice, wishing it was him. He was just so hungry.
“Mmm! Guys! This is real good! You should get some!” Rosalie Jade hollered about to the other tributes, encouraging them to eat.
Looking back at Coriolanus, Rosalie Jade said,”Sorry, but I wanted to make sure that they at least know they can eat the stuff without it killing them.”
“Killing them? Why would the food kill them?” Choriolanuss asked her, confused.
“Never know if one year the Games start early.” Rosalie Jade huffed.
“Well I can assure you that no food that will be given to you to eat will be poisonous or kill you.”
“Ok Capitol Boy, whatever you say.” She shook her head, laughing quietly.
So I am Capitol Boy.
Coriolanus waited until she finished eating her plum, which felt like hours, till he started to talk about his plan for her.
Setting down the plum pit, Rosalie Jade looked at him expectantly.
“Well Capitol Boy, whatcha’ got planned for me?” Rosalie Jade said, clapping her hands together.
“I need you to sing again.” Corioalnus said.
Rosalie Jade just looked at him hesitantly.
Then out of nowhere, she snapped at him.
“I don’t sing when I’m told to. I sing when I got something to say.” She crossed her arms defiantly.
“But this is the only way I can help you! You have to sing, otherwise there is nothing I can do to help you in that arena.”
Rosalie Jade just turned her head the other way so she wasn’t looking at him.
Crouching even lower to the ground, Coiolanus said, “Listen to me. They are thinking about making changes this year to the rules. If I can get some of my ideas passed, I can help you get sponsors.”
“Sponsors?” Rosalie Jade raised her eyebrow.
“People who are betting on you. They will send in money to help me buy things for you in the arena to help you survive, and hopefully, win.”
“Now I heard that there is some sort of prize for the student with the winning tribute. So are you helping me to win or to actually help me?”
Well of course I want you to win. I need the prize. But there is something about you that I need to figure out. What you reminded me of earlier this morning in the cage.
“Both.” Coriolanus shrugged.
Rosalie Jade looked him up and down before coming to the conclusion of, “Ok. I’ll listen to you. But I won’t promise I’ll sing. But maybe if you get me a guitar, then maybe I’ll think about it. Ok?”
“Amazing! Yes, great!” he said, slowly standing up.
“Maybe!” Rosalie Jade laughed.
“Ok, I’ll see you tomorrow, and this time with food!” Coriolauns yelled back to Rosalie Jade as he started to walk away.
“Got it, Mr. Snow!” Rosalie Jade teased.
Looking back at the cage, Coriolanus saw that the once overflowing bag of foods was now bone dry and even knocked over. Most of the other tributes had gotten their own sandwich, bottle, and plum. However, some didn’t because others took more than one, being greedy.
Well, it’s a good thing that Rosalie Jade got her food first. Now where the fuck am I going to find spare food and a guitar?
Just as Coriolanus was reaching the exit of the monkey exhibit, he stopped in his tracks, hearing it.
“Deep in the meadow, under a willow
A bed of grass, a soft green pillow
Lay down your head, and close your sleepy eyes
And when again they open, the sun will rise.”
Rosalie Jade had listened to him and started to sing.
“Here it's safe, here it's warm
Here the daisies guard you from every harm
Here your dreams are sweet and tomorrow brings them true
Here is the place where I love you.”
He started to walk back into the exhibit, but was stopped by a Peacekeeper.
“Deep in the meadow, hidden far away
A cloak of leaves, a moonbеam ray
Forget your woes and let your troublеs lay
And when again it's morning, they'll wash away.”
“Sorry kid, closing time. No more visits.” The Peacekeeper said to Coriolauns.
“But it’s still bright out and I need to see to my tribute.” Coriolanus answered back to the tribute.
“No kid. You gotta go home. Come back tomorrow. Sorry.” The Peacekeeper said with finality, turning Coriolanus around and pushing him closer to the exit.
“Here it's safe, here it's warm
Here the daisies guard you from every harm
Here your dreams are sweet and tomorrow brings them true
Here is the place where I love you
Where I love you.”
Rosalie Jade had finished her little song and Coirolanus didn’t even get to see her sing because of the incompetent Peacekeeper.
So she can listen. Good, obedient girl.
Tumblr media
The next day, Coriolanus was sitting down in the Academy lunchroom trying to figure out how to get food for his tribute. He had already asked Persephone Price if she had an old guitar laying around, remembering how before the Dark Days she would take lessons for it was all she could talk about.
Before the Dark Days. How funny. How before the Dark Days, Persephone was an aspiring “musician.” How she wasn’t a cannibal.
Coriolanus Snow had many bad memories from the Dark Days, but the worst one would always be when he witnessed his neighbor, Nero Price, Persephone’s father, cut off the leg of a maid to eat.
That was the day when Coriolanus had truly witnessed humanity being stripped, even from the “rich.” How anyone would do anything to survive.
Just thinking about it gave Coriolanus a slight chill. Persephone most likely didn’t even know that she became a cannibal that day. Most likely thought it was some sort of meat mixture of rat, dog, and/or cat. But that didn’t matter to Coriolanus. Persephone Price and her family were cannibals, even if most of them didn’t know.
However, most know that while Persephone Price is a very kind person, she can be very competitive and geedy. So when she told Coriolanus, “Of course! I’ll have to look for it though. It might be buried somewhere deep in my attic,” Coirolanus knew that she would not look for the guitar one bit.
Of course she wouldn’t. She has her own tribute to try and win with. Which is why after he talked with her, he went to Pluribus Bell.
Pluribus was a big black market dealer and had helped Coriolanus and his family during the Dark Days. Coirolanus had always made sure to pay him back either with what little money Tigris made or with the gossip of what was happening in the Capitol and Academy that Pluribus couldn’t hear or see that Coriolanus had a front row seat too. But he always paid him back. Coriolanus hated owing anybody anything.
So when Pluribus said, “I think I should have one in the back. It’s for her, though, huh? Your tribute? Keep it for her. Give it to her and let her have it, as a final gift sort of thing. She would sound so pretty with it with her voice. Let your little songbird have this guitar as a gift from me, no charge, no debt,” Coriolanus was both grateful and annoyed. He got what he needed, but now owed, or at least felt like he owed Pluribus something.
But yet, he took the offer and intended on going back to him tonight to get the guitar for his tribute’s interview on Sunday.
So here he sat, thinking of a way he could get food to Rosalie Jade.
I could take it out of the cafeteria, but that’s not allowed and I’m sure if Highbottom saw me do that, he’d bust my ass and give me another stupid fucking dermit. I could maybe bring something from home? Oh, who am I kidding. The only thing we have at home is the disgusting cabbage soup and bringing that into a public setting would give away the very thing I’ve been hiding for years. How poor we are.
Deep in thought, thinking through his options, Coriolanus didn’t even realize that Sejanus had made his way over towards him. Only when he slammed his tray down, earning many looks of disgust from the other students, did Coriolanus even realize he was there.
What does the District mutt want now?
“Quite the ideas you had Coryo.” Sejanus said, looking Corilanus dead in the eye.
That’s what. Of course it is.
“Yes, thank you. I thought it would benefit Rosalie Jade if I was able to send her food or water in the arena.” Coriolanus answered him, trying to make it seem like all of this was to help Rosalie Jade and not himself.
“Yeah.” Sejanus muttered, looking down annoyed.
Deciding that this was the best time to ask, Coriolanus asked, “What were you and Rosalie Jade talking about before I got to the monkey exposure yesterday.”
This made Sejanus look up fast and in turn, make Coriolanus curious.
“Oh, just family stuff. Both her and mine. Sejanus said after hesitating for a minute, looking around as if it was safe to talk.
“Ok, but what did you mean by ‘I used to know him?’ Who were you talking about?”  Coiolanus asked right after Sejanus finished talking.
Looking down at his lap, Sejanus took a deep breath. “My tribute, Marcus, I used to know him. I went to school with him back in Two.” Sejnaus looked up.
Ohhh. But you moved here when you were so young, how could you have made such an “unforgettable” friend that a decade later, you still remember?
“My father probably bought him to my tribute to remind me where I am, what my place is, and well, you get the jist.” Sejanus started to rant.
I get the jist. I always do. Everyone does. You don’t shut the fuck up about it.
Trying to calm him down before he goes into full on protester mode, Coriolanus said, “Well it’s not your fault that your father bought him for you. You’re not to blame.”
“I'm so blameless, I'm choking on it.” Sejanus rebuttal bitterly.
Deciding that the risk of Highbottom giving him another dermit is better than having Sejanus Plinth drone on and on about how life’s not fair, Coriolanus wrapped his sandwich in his unused napkin and stuffed it into his pants pocket.
“I should go to see Rosalie Jade, he might be hungry.” Coriolanus stood up, collecting his belongings.
"Quite the rebel you are taking food for her." Sejanus told Coriolanus, looking him up and down.
"Yeah, I'm bad news." Corioalnus answered, getting out of his chair.
“Tell her I said ‘hi!’ ” Sejanus yelled to Coriolanus as he started to walk away.
“Ok!” Coriolanus answered back.
No.
Tumblr media
Walking up the cage, Coriolanus saw that Rosalie Jade was still near the large rock. Except this time, instead of being on it alone, she was resting beside it with her eyes closed, leaning her head on Jessup.
Why must he always be touching her?
Coriolanus looked closer at the scene in front of him, realizing that not only was she resting her head on him, no. She was holding his hand.
What. The. Fuck.
Upping his pace to stop the comforting affectionate physical gesture, Coriolanus almost missed his fellow classmate, Arachne Crane, teasing her tribute with food. He saw the desperation in the tribute's eyes and knew from experience that she was experiencing horrific stomach pain from the lack of food.
Coriolanus quickly stopped, “Arachne, maybe you should just give her the bread. She most likely hasn’t eaten in days, maybe even a week depending on which District she came from.”
Arachne just looked Coriolanus up and down. “Who are you now, Sejanus? Why do you even care, Coriolanus?” Arachne scoffed, buttering a piece of bread.
“Besides, if she really wanted it, she would try a little bit harder. Wouldn’t you, girl?” Arachne mocked the girl, teasingly waving the buttered bread in front of her face.
Coriolanus just scoffed, “I am most definitely not turning into Sejanus. I am merely just trying to help you.”
“Yeah, well why don’t you just go over and help you little songbird? She looks like she needs your help real bad, oh wait! No she doesn’t! She seems just fine eating Plinth’s food and resting her eyes with her tribute. Maybe you’re the one who needs her help. Cause from the looks of it, she sure as hell doesn’t need you.” Arachne snapped at him.
Coriolanus' nostrils were flaring and his face was red from embarrassment and anger.
Of course she needs me! I’m her mentor for fuck’s sake! She’s only little and she needs protection. She needs to be protected by someone. And that sure as hell isn’t Jessup. It’s me. She needs me.
Trying to keep his composure and not blow up in Arachne’s dumb fucking face, Coriolanus simpley said, “I suppose then your tribute doesn’t need you either. It’s not like you're doing anything to help her, only yourself.”
Then, he slowly bent down to Arachne’s ear, whispering, “I bet you just want the Plinth Prize for yourself, you greedy little pig.” With that, Coriolanus stood up right, turned around, and started walking to his tribute before Arachne could even comprehend in her dumb little brain what he had just said.
Coriolanus knew he shouldn’t have said that, but he just couldn’t help it. He always had to get the last word.
Finally making his way over to Rosalie Jade and Jessup, he saw that she had opened her eyes and she smiled at him when she realized that he was coming her way. Getting up, she brushed her dress down and pushed her hair behind her back. Jessup looked up at her with confusion at her sudden movement, but when he saw Coriolanus, he raised his eyebrows up in a look of recognition. Waiting for her to walk over to him, he saw Jessup getting up too, following Rosalie Jade like a lost puppy.
I don’t remember being your mentor, why the fuck are you coming over to me? She doesn’t need you to “protect” her, that’s why I’m here.
“Mr. Snow.” Rosalie Jade pulled him from his thoughts, tipping her imaginary hat to him.
This got a genuine laugh out of him. Even in the midst of her inevitable death, she still stands here, joking around.
“Miss. Baird.” Coriolanus said back, pulling the sandwich out of his pocket, presenting it to her as if it were a bouquet of roses.
Giggling, Rosalie Jade took the sandwich, joking, “My! How pretty! Must taste even better than it looks.”
It better, this was supposed to be my lunch.
Turning around to Jessup, she split the sandwich into two, urging to give him the other half.
“Here,” she said, “eat up.”
Jessup shook his head. “No, you eat it, Rosie Jay, you need it. ‘Sides, I’m not hungry.” Jessup pushed his hands out to deny the food.
Rosie Jay?
“You think I don’t hear your stomach growling, Jessup Diggs.” Rosalie Jade said, putting her one hand on her tiny waist.
“Eat it, please. For me?” She said, giving him puppy dog eyes.
“Fine. Only for you though.” Jessup muttered, taking half of the sandwich and walking away to sit behind the rock.
Through the whole conversation, Coriolanus’ face had the same look the whole time. Disgust.
He hated how close Jessup was getting to his tribute. How he had taken on a “brotherly” role of some sort. No. That was Corioanus’ job. Well, to get her to win, and inturn, him, was his job. Taking on a brotherly role couldn’t hurt anyone.
“You ok?” Rosalie Jade noticed the look on Coriolanus’ face and thought that something was wrong.
“Yes, I am fine. I just-I have never heard anyone call you Rosie Jay before.” Coriolanus answered.
“Ohh, yeah. Well, only my close friends and family call me that. Some just call me Rosie or just Rosalie. My sister hates when people do, says it takes away my roots.” Rosalie Jade said, plopping herself down on the ground of the cage.
So she does consider Jessup like her brother. Well, we can’t have that now can we.
"Well, should I have a nickname for you? I feel as though we've become good freinds."
Rosalie Jade looked at him with her eyebrows raised. Then, after a bit of silence, she smiled saying, "Well only if I get to call you one too!"
Coriolanus smiled, "You can call me Coryo. And what do you think about Little Dove as a nickname for you?"
Rosalie Jade smiled back at him, "I think that if you like it, then I do too, Coryo." She finished, looking at the sandwich to realize it was yet again a peanut butter and jelly sandwich. She muttered a little 'yes' as she did an air pump to herself.
Coryo. It rolled off her tongue so easily and, God, did it sound good.
“My sister would like you.” She said randomly, smiling up at him, patting the ground in front of her on the outside of the cage.
“Really?” Coriolanus asked, looking around the crowd before sitting down on the cold, slightly damp concrete ground.
“I think so.” Rosalie Jade said, tearing a piece off of her his sandwich to eat.
Coriolanus eyed the sandwich. He was so hungry today. He didn’t get to have the disgusting cabbage soup this morning, having to meet with Plurbis early in the morning to get Rosalie Jade’s guitar. And missing not one, but two meals today was most definitely not helping his infinite hunger. But, ohh! All he wanted to do right now was rip the sandwich right out of Rosalie Jade’s hands and eat it himself. However, even as he imagined the sandwich, he knew that what was left wouldn't be enough for him. No, he would need the whole sandwich. He would grab Rosalie Jade’s cute little baby face and suck the food out of her mouth. He didn’t care if it was bad manners or obscene, he needed to feed his hunger.
Unfortunately for Coriolanus, him imagining eating food did not help his stomach, but rather upset it, making it growl out. Coriolanus turned beet red and prayed that Rosalie Jade hadn’t heard his stomach.
But she had.  She had also seen him eyeing her food today and yesterday. So, being the kind person she was she insisted that he have some.
“Here, have some.” She said, ripping her half of the sandwich into another half.
“No, it’s ok. You need to build your strength up.” Coriolanus said back.
“Oh yeah, so I can strangle the others while they sleep. I don’t think that's going to happen.” Rosalie Jade snapped at him.
“Besides, I need my mentor to be strong and healthy to take care of me.” Rosalie Jade said, grabbing the sandwich and putting it into his hand so he couldn’t refuse.
Coriolanus just nodded, wanting to ignore the spark he felt everytime she would touch him.
Rosalie Jade smiled as he bit into the sandwich, “Now it’s like a picnic!”
Coriolanus just gave her a smile.
“I thought that people in the Capitol always had somethin’ to eat. I guess never judge a book by its cover.” Rosalie Jade whispered to him, knowing that he wouldn’t want everyone around him to hear that he wasn’t well off.
“Yeah. You know, one time, I ate a tube of paste just to stop the pains in my stomach.” Coriolanus said, gesturing to his stomach.
He didn’t know why he was telling you this. This was personal, private information. Something that only him and him only will know, and now, Rosalie Jade. But, maybe they were sister-brother bonding?
“Yeah? And how’d it taste?” Rosalie Jade asked, smiling at.
“...Pasty.” He said.
To his response, Rosalie Jade laughed, causing Coriolanus to laugh as well.
“Descriptive.” Rosalie Jade joked.
“What can I say, I have a way with words.” Coirolanus joked back.
Rosalie Jade just looked away, softly laughing. But she stopped abruptly when she saw another young tribute.
“You see her there?” she said, pointing to a young girl.
“Yeah.” Coriolanus responded, subtly bringing her hand down. It was rude to point and big brothers have to teach their little sisters the manners and rules of the world.
“She’s only young, like me. A bit older, but still young. She doesn't deserve to be here, none of em’ do.”
“Neither do you, Rosalie Jade.” Coriolanus said, taking her hand in his.
That feels nice.
Rosalie Jade just looked away when he said that, her eyes catching onto Arachne, who was still taunting her tribute, this time with the cheese.
Rosalie Jade scowled at her, “Hunger is a very powerful weapon. Your friend over there seems to know it too.” Rosalie Jade said bitterly.
“She’s not my friend, she is poison with a pretty smile.” Coriolanus responded, just as bitterly as Rosalie Jade. What? He was still pissed off from what had happened earlier.
Arachne looked over at them, feeling eyes on her. She looked Coriolanus right in the eye and mouthed the words, ‘Needy Bitch.’
Shit. How does she know?! Fuck! She probably overheard Rosalie Jade and I. Dammit! With her big mouth, the whole Capitol will know before morning, especially since I had insulted her earlier. FUCK!
“I like your rose. Where do you keep getting them from?” Rosalie Jade said, reaching out to touch the rose.
“What-oh from my Grandma’am’s rooftop garden.” Coriolanus answered. He needed to keep his cool if he was going to figure out how to deal with Arachne.
“Rooftop garden?” Rosalie Jade questioned.
“Just a garden on a roof.” He answered.
“Ohh. Well, is there anyone else in your family other than your grandma’am? You know about my sister and Covery, I wanna know about you.” Rosalie Jade asked.
“Yeah, there’s my cousin Tigris. She is one of the sweetest people I know. I-uh, I was supposed to have a little sister, but-umm, she and my mother died in childbirth. My dad died out in District 12.” Coriolanus said, looking down.
He hated talking about his family, especially his mother. She was the only person he felt loved him during the Dark Days. Of course Tigris did, but it was a different type of feeling of love coming from your parents.
Rosalie Jade reached out for his hand, and gently dubbed her thumbs over his knuckles, “So you’re an orphan, just like me.”
Coriolanus looked up and just as he was going to say something, he saw Arachne tribute sneakily take the butter knife laying next to the bread. Arachne didn't realize as she was yet again taunting her tribute with water this time.
Seeing what her tribute was going to do, Coriolanus called out to Arachne.
"Arachne! Watch ou-" Coriolanus was cut off by a high-pitched scream.
He was too late.
The tribute had taken the butter knife and stabbed it into Arachne's neck. She was flailing around on the ground, hands over the wound on her neck as she bled out.
Over her screams, Coriolanus couldn't just make out the sound of someone throwing up behind him.
Rosalie Jade!
She was violently vomiting from witnessing the murder.
Well there goes the food she just ate. Shit, is this how she'll react in the arena? We'll have to work on that.
Turning back towards Arachne, Coriolanus saw the cameras from earlier short little interviews with the other tributes. He knew that if they were still recording and they just saw him standing there as if he didn't care, it would not help his cause at all. Not to mention, the whole crowd of people who came to visit the tributes were watching him.
He knew he had to help Arachne.
Rushing over to her side, he lifted her head onto his lap, pushing down onto the wound, trying to stop the blood.
The blood. There was so much blood. It reminded him of the day his mother died. How she wouldn't stop bleeding and he couldn't do anything to help her.
Shit. This was a bad idea.
Arachne was shaking her head from side to side, not being able to talk. He knew what she was saying though. 'I don't want to die.'
"It's ok. I got you." He whispered to her.
"Help! Somebody, please! Help!" Coriolanus started to shout out. And just when he thought that a Peacekeeper was coming to help her, he pulled out his gun and started shooting at the tribute that had stabbed Arachne.
He quickly covered his head, getting blood on his ears and face. He looked up slightly to make sure that Rosalie Jade was safe and didn't get shot. She had been dragged over by a Peacekeeper from where she threw up, to against the wall with all the other tributes, their faces to the wall and backs to the Peacekeepers and their guns.
"Nobody move!" One shouted.
Looking back down at Arachne, almost forgetting she was there and only remembering when he felt her move slightly, he saw that she had moved her hands back to her neck, since Coriolanus had taken his off to cover his ears.
As he went to put his over hers to add more pressure, he saw a tear roll down her face and the dull light in her eyes go dim. Her hands had let go of her neck as they slumped down to her side.
Arachne Crane was dead.
Just then , Peacekeepers came up to Coriolanus and lifted him up, dragging him away from her lifeless body.
Maybe Rosalie Jade was right. You'll never know if the games will start early.
Tumblr media
“This is it. This is how it starts!” Grandma’am shrieked.
Since Coriolanus had gotten home, Grandma’am had not let go of his hand, afraid that yet another loved one of hers would be taken from her. Both Tigris and Coiolanus had tried to calm her down, but nothing would work.
“Grandma’am, please calm down. Everything is alright, I didn’t get hurt. I am right here.” Coriolanus squeezed her hand, trying to comfort and calm her down.
“Oh, you’re just lucky that songbird of yours didn’t peck your eyes out!” Grandma’am said bitterly.
“She would never do that Grandma’am. She’s just a girl. Now why don’t we get you to bed?” Tigris said, trying to usher Grandma'am to her room, but she didn’t budge.
“That beast hasn’t been a girl in a long time.” Grandma’am said matter of factly.
Coriolanus, getting annoyed at how Grandma’am was talking about his tribute, said, “Tigris is right, Grandma’am. Rosalie Jade is different. She wouldn’t hurt a fly.”
Grandma’am just looked at him and sighed, then started to get up with the help of Tigris.
“Just find a way to win, Coriolanus. Use her to win for all I care. Just make sure you use her before she uses you and you end up dead in the trees of 12 like your father.” With that, she walked away towards her room with Tigris helping her.
Coriolanus reflected on this monstrosity of a day in the silence brought from Tigris and Grandma’am leaving.
He looked back on his little chat with Sejanus. He needs to separate himself from him before his rebellious ideas bring him and Coriolanus down. He needs to get Rosalie Jade more food since she threw it all up because of Arachne.
Arachne. She’s dead.
It took him some time to process what that really meant. She was dead, she wasn’t coming back, neither were his secrets that she knew about.
Thinking about it now, maybe it was a good thing she died? I mean, how else would she keep my secret. Bribery, with what money, sexual favors? Most likely, she is, sorry, was quite the whore.
Yes, the unfortunate death of Arachne Crane was a good thing. It was the only way he wouldn’t have told Coriolanus’ secrets without him losing his dignity. Besides, it’s not like Coriolanus killed her. No, it was her own tribute.
It was the only way.
Tumblr media
“Today we remember Arachne Crane whose life was taken before her time.” Dr. Gual states behind the podium standing on the stage.
The Academy had decided to hold a huge funeral service for Arachne two days after her death, where her family, friends, and all the people of the Capitol were in attendance.
Coriolanus thought that all of it was over the top for someone as insignificant as Arachne, and it had even taken time away from seeing Rosalie Jade, but he put on his face of sorrow as he walked to the stage to give his “sorrows.” For Ararchne’s parents had asked for him to sing the Gem of Panem anthem in memorial of Arachne since he had tried to help her.
Taking a deep breath, he started.
“Gem of Panem
Mighty city
Through the ages you shine anew.”
His ribs hurt from the “training” his Grandma’am gave him to make sure that he said each lyric correctly.
“We humbly kneel
To your ideal
And pledge our love to you!”
As Coriolanus had finished the verse, he saw something, a car he thought, move in the distance, towards where the funeral was taking place.
“Gem of Panem
Heart of Justice
Wisdom crowns your marble brow.”
Coriolanus could see it coming closer and he soon realized what it was.
Holy shit.
“You give us light
You reunite
To you we make our vow.”
A truck, holding all of the tributes, was coming straight to the funeral service and hanging at the top of a crane, iconically, was the dead tribute who had killed Arachne.
“Gem of Panem
Seat of power
Strength in peacetime, shield in strife.”
Coriolanus tried not to mess up as he felt a lump form in his throat. He couldn’t believe that this was happening. He watched the truck as it turned, right as he started the last verse, showing off all the tributes and the dead one to the public.
“Protect our land
With armored hand
Our Capitol
Our life.”
He heard cries come from the crowd, either from his singing or from young kids seeing the dead tribute hanging from the crane. As the truck passed by him, he saw his Little Dove, with her head down, trying to comfort Wovey, who was crying. He saw that all of the tribute's hands were cuffed again.
Why is she comforting someone older than her? She should be the one getting comforted.
But his thoughts were interrupted by seeing the truck leave and the Peacekeepers enter, carrying Arachne’s casket on their shoulders.
So dramatic, even in death.

hey ml, how are you? 🫶🏻 thought i’d request something if that’s okay?
(i’ve been listening to this song and it gave me a wicked idea)
OT8 skz x 9th Fem!member reader where she argues with the boys and they all ignore her for a while which causes her to get into her head and she starts going a bit crazy? She is filming her solo MV as apart of SKZ-REPLAY and lets all of her crazy/psychotic thoughts out. The boys are told to come into jyp to talk about readers MV (which the boys hadn’t seen yet) and they all sit in shock whilst watching you go on a psychotic breakdown with the most sinister grin on your face?
Hello love ❤️ I really, really like the idea and I will definitely write it. Also I love the song! But please be patience because I have my finals so I’ll probably start writing again after I pass everything.
I’ll tag you anyway.
Kisses 😘
Hello love, As promised I wrote this idea and I hope that you would enjoy reading it. I'm so sorry that you had to wait for such a long time :C but the last week of January when I had my finals was so hard and exhausting that actually I needed to rest from everything. But thankfully I passed everything and now, being on my winter break, I can write more :D.
Anyway, here's the story I really hope you'll like it. Please enjoy and have fun reading it. ❤️
……………………..
Title: Happy Face
Genre: Angst
Word Count: 2061
Warnings: swearing, mention of mental breakdown, Lee Know is kinda harsh on Y/N
……………………..
“...And I guess, they’ll never listen, ya know? Because I’m a girl.” Was the last thing you said before smiling creepily into the camera and tilting your head to the side. “But let me tell y'all a secret…” You said whispering. “I don’t need them anymore. Not at all.” You started laughing hysterically. There was something in your voice that made everyone, who was watching your live, shiver. Something’s changed. The switch had been switched and there was no way back.
……………………..
“Ya! Y/N! Stop acting like a fucking child!” Changbin screamed as you ran before him, trampling over his music sheets. “I’m working, don’t you see?!”
“I’m sorry Binnie! I’m just late and…” You started to explain yourself.
“I don’t fucking care!” He scoffed. He didn’t like being interrupted in his work and you knew that. Everybody knew. You sighed heavily.
“I said I’m sorry…” You said with a pout on your face and just left the room. Living with eight men in a dorm as a ninth member was sometimes hard. Especially before the upcoming comeback, when everyone was busy and stressed out. The season was just hectic.
You arrived at the practice a little bit late. You entered the practice room, being welcomed by a disappointed view of coldfaced Lee Minho. “You are late.” He said harshly. “Why are you always late?!” His voice raised a little, which made you squirm.
“I’m sorry… I got stuck in traffic and…” You started but he didn’t want to listen.
“I don’t care, Y/N. You should have left earlier then. We were waiting for you for almost 20 minutes! We don’t have this room reserved for long!” Minho was angry.
“I’m so…” You started but again was interrupted by someone.
“Okay, no need to actually fight… let’s start the practice again, all right?” Felix said softly and looked at you with a slight smile. “You remember the routine?”
“Y-yes, I remember.” You answered.
“Good.” Said Hyunin and turned on the music. “Let’s begin then.”
The practice was good, but the tension between you and Lee Know was strong. You couldn’t understand what got into him. You did your best and gave more than 100%. You were a perfectionist so you always tried to be better and better.
Dancing with the danceracha was most of the time fun. But this time you couldn’t enjoy it as much as you would like to. Minho was harsh and pointed out each mistake that you made or at least the mistake that he thought you made.
You were tired. You didn’t know what actually was happening with your body. You couldn’t stay straight most of the time. Your muscles ached and you felt a little dizzy. Your body didn’t want to cooperate with you at all.
“Minho, I need a break.” You stopped the routine in the middle, panting heavily. “I really have no strength and my body is…”
“I don’t care Y/N, you said that you remember everything. Just focus and dance again.” He said, rolling his eyes, creally annoyed. “You need to master these movements.”
“No.” You said looking at him. “I will not dance again now, I need a break. I’m tired.”
“Let me repeat it, Y/N. No one cares that you are tired. We all are! You are messing up the whole choreography. I’m not going to change the routine again, just because you can't focus.”
“Oh, I’m sorry that I am tired and my body can’t dance properly.” You rolled your eyes, snapping at him. “Maybe if you weren’t a douchebag you are right now and let me take a break just for ten minutes as you did with Hyunjin and Felix I’ll be in better condition to dance once again. I told you, my body…”
“Maybe if you practised more you wouldn’t be as tired as you are right now?” He raised an eyebrow. “Instead of spending time gossiping around you should come here and practise often!”
“First of all I don’t gossip! And second of all it’s none of your business what I do in my fr…” You couldn’t finish the sentence since Hyunjin interrupted you.
“Y/N, just listen to the hyung. He’s right. You are messing up the choreography. And we are as tired as you are of repeating it all over again . You need to focus.”
“I am focused! And stop interrupting me!” You raised your voice annoyed that Hyunjin is taking Minho’s side. “You both think that I don’t do anything?! I am trying to be as good as you guys are!”
“Then try harder!” Minho shouted. “It’s not the first time you are messing something up! You are always messing things up! You think being an idol is supposed to be a light job? It’s not a playground Y/N! We are all tired of you and your constant excuses and being fucking tired. If it’s too much then… ”
“I don’t have any excuses! What the fuck you are talking about Minho?!” You were pissed. “I get that everyone is stressed out because of the comeback but don’t yell at me just because you are ruthless fucking douchebag, who thinks that by being mean…”
“Call me a douchebag once again and I swear I’ll…” He started but you interrupted him.
“You’ll do what, hm? Hit me?” You looked at him provocatively and Minho clenched his fits.
“Okay, Allright.” Someone entered the danceroom. “Calm down everybody. Calm down. What’s all this fuss about?” It was Chan, who looked at you and Minho, seeking the explanation. Behind him the rest of the Stray Kids entered the room and looked at the two of you. “Why are you fighting? Everyone in the building can hear you.”
“Apparently Y/N is once again tired of actually doing nothing.” Minho said venomously. “She doesn’t want to focus and I had to change the choreography too many times and…”
“Apparently Minho is treating me worse than he treats others.” You said sarcastically, rolling your eyes. “He doesn’t let me take a break while Hyunjin and Felix rested all the time!”
“Hey! That’s not true!” Felix and Hyunjin said at the same time.
“Y/N I told you that you are messing the choreography up and…” Minho started once again.
“And I fucking told you that I’m tired, okay?! Why is no one listening? I have no strength recently and…” You interrupted him. You could feel the tears that formed in your eyes, both because you were pissed and just sad.
“And that’s enough, watch your tongue Y/N.” Chan said firmly, sighing heavily. He didn’t let you finish your sentence. “Y/N, I heard from the boys that the only thing you've been doing recently is complaining. And I actually observed it by myself. If you need a longer break, we can talk with the managers about the hiatus and…” he looked straight into your eyes.
“But I don’t want to go on a hiatus! What are you even talking about right now? Why is no one listening? You know what? I’m done for today.” You said, feeling like you were going to cry. You literally felt betrayed but all of the boys. “I need some time alone, ya know? I am done with all of you.” You grabbed your belongings and left the practice room, leaving all the eight men behind you. Nobody even tried to stop you.
……………………..
A few hours have passed. You took a break and spent some alone time outside the building. You had time to rethink and calm yourself down. Maybe they were right at some point, but at the same time they didn’t listen to what you were going to say. It felt like you were just some kind of burden for them or they were annoyed with you with no further reason.
After a long while you decided to come back to the JYPE building once again. It was really late and you were sure that no one was even there. You went straight into the danceroom, where you were going to practise. In the upcoming comeback, you not only had the performance with the danceracha but also had your solo song and MV as a part of SKZ-REPLAY. And at this point Minho was right. You had to master everything.
You took off the hoodie you were wearing and put on the music. The routines weren’t that hard as you thought before. After some time of practising you, being content with the results of your hard work, decided to talk to somebody and share your thoughts. You were still upset with the boys so instead of calling them or your manager, you decided to make an Instagram live. The only people that you could rely on right now were your fans.
“Hello guys, this is Y/N from Stray Kids.” You greeted your fans with a bright smile on your face. “How are ya?” You asked them and started reading some comments. “Am I in the practice room? Yeah, I’ve been mastering the movements for the new comeback… Uhm.. No, no I’m here by myself.”
The fans started asking you questions about the comeback, the track and the boys and you tried to answer most of them with a big smile on your face. But it didn’t feel real. After a few more questions your smile started to drop. You didn’t want to show your fans emotions you were actually hiding all day, but eventually the bubble just burst.
“Y/N is everything all right?” You’ve read out loud as the fans started asking you more serious questions. “Actually… no. Nothing is okay, ya know? I’m tired of being in this band. No, I am fucking exhausted! Don’t get me wrong, the guys…” You started and suddenly smirked looking straight into the camera. “Or you know what? Fuck it. Get me all wrong!” You laughed a little. “Maybe if I say what I’ve been trying to say recently, you’ll actually listen. Because believe it or not, there are people who don’t listen.” You let out the little giggle. But it wasn’t a happy giggle. You were trying so hard not to show the emotions that culminated in your body, that now you couldn't even pretend.
Your fans started to be more concerned about your mental state. The people who were watching you at that moment were just scared. You didn’t act normal. You smiled at the camera, but there was something in your smile that no one could even name.
“I’m happy! I’m happy! I’m happy today!... Hey! Put on a happy face!” You sang and started laughing. And your laugh was echoing in the empty room. Everyone who was watching your live was scared. But you didn’t care. The comments have stopped. No one dared to say anything. People were just looking at you but they didn’t know what to do.
……………………..
At the same time that you were having a mental breakdown in front of thousands of people on the Internet, eight men sat in your dormitory, accompanied by managers, and watched you silently. They were either horrified or concerned, or both at the same time. Mixed emotions consumed them.
They were sure that they were the cause of your breakdown. Recently, they haven’t been very understanding. They didn’t want to listen to your silent cry for help. They were too focused on themselves that they didn’t see that you also had been experiencing a hard time. The instant remorse immediately seized them.
“...And I guess, they’ll never listen, ya know? Because I’m a girl.” Was the last thing you said before smiling creepily into the camera and tilting your head to the side. “But let me tell y'all a secret…” You said whispering. “I don’t need them anymore. Not at all.” You started laughing again, but this time you laughed hysterically. There was something in your voice that made everyone, who was watching your live, shiver. Something’s changed. The switch had been switched and there was no way back.
It was the only thing you added before you truly switched. They looked at your live with horror in their eyes.
“Hyung… We have fucked things up. We all did.” It was I.N. who dared to speak, breaking the heavy silence. And those words will stay with them for a really long time.

"His smile was his biggest treasure"
୨˙˙˚˙˙˙˚˙˙˙˚˙˙˙˚˙˙˙˚˙˙˙˚˙˙˙˚˙˙˙˚˙˙˙˚˙˙˙˚˙˙˙˚˙˙˙˚˙˙˙˚˙˙˙˚˙˙˙˚˙˙˙˚˙˙˙˚˙˙˙˚˙˙˙˚˙˙˙˚˙˙˙˚˙˙˙˚˙˙˙˚˙˙˙˚˙˙˙˚˙˙˙˚˙˙˙˚˙˙˙˚˙˙˙˚˙˙˙˚˙˙˙˚˙˙˙˚˙˙˙˚˙˙˚˙˙˚˙˙˚˙˙˚˙˙˚˙˙˚˙˙˚˙˙୧ Being in Third year was one of the best things for any student, as they could travel to Hogsmade, the little winter town that many students, and even adults, had dearly in their hearts... Especially, with one certain establishment: The Three Broomsticks Inn.
If you asked the people around, it was obvious that reasons for it existed: the cozy atmosphere, the enjoyable presence of the owner, Madam Rosmerta, and of course, the drinks served there, butterbeer, pumpkin juice, cherry syrup, and even for the adults, some fire whiskey.
But today, for Alaister, was a place he didn't expect to be. Not because he wasn't thinking of going before, he surely was to do so, but because he was invited there, that night, by none other than his best friend (and secret crush) Daniel Page. It did take him a long time to not lose his mind and exaggerate the invitation, to stop jumping in his place, squeaking while his roommates were elsewhere, and of course, to get his best looks to the occasion, even if it was just using his uniform, fix his hair, and make sure his cherry earrings were in place and his glasses were clean... And why not, some cherry perfume here and there.
Sometime later, he finally arrived just in the hour at the location they'd met, outside the place, greeting each other, and, sure enough, going inside, feeling the change of the atmosphere from a cold, white winter to a warm, wooden establishment, with fireplaces and plenty of tables and costumers, from students to adults.
Daniel: Ahh, the Three Broomsticks. Lively as ever.
Alaister: You've come here before?
Daniel: Just once, I think. My mum must have brought me... But I don't really remember, since I was too little back then, I believe. But I've heard plenty of stories, though! Alaister: Huh, well, what everyone said of this place is true, it is cozy and welcoming! And it doesn't surprise me this place is popular, it looks a little crowded tonight... How about you get us a seat and I go look for our drinks? Daniel: Sure. I'll find us a quiet table on the second floor... You know what I like.
The blonde boy couldn't help but let out a giggle... Gosh, he really fell hard for him, more now that he could see Daniel way happier and open than usual. It was a sight he could never get enough of, and containing the blush on his cheeks was a hard task that he, somehow, fulfilled as he turned around and walked towards the bar, talking to the woman who owned the place.
Madam Rosmerta: Why, hello there! Fresh from Hogwarts, are ya? Alaister: Greetings, indeed, miss, I have just arrived from there. Madam Rosmerta: Call me Rosmerta, please! "Miss" makes me sound like an old crone! Alaister: Ah, my apologies, Rosmerta... I wanted to ask about the specials here, any type of recommendations are welcomed greatly. Madam Rosmerta: Well, our two specials are our famous butterbeer: a frothy, buttery creation that is our house specialty, and pumpkin juice, fruity, with notes of spice. It's perfect, hot or cold! We also have other drinks, like, for example, cherry soda, with natural cherry syrup. Alaister: Hmm, I think I'll have one cherry soda and... A butterbeer, please. I'll pay them both. Madam Rosmerta: Great choices! A cherry soda and butterbeer, coming right up...
It didn't take too long for him to get the drinks and pay them both with a few sickles and galeons, and as best as he could, he walked to the second floor, doing his best to not spill a single drop, as his friend waited for him on a far, far table. Leaving the drinks, one after the other, on the table, he took a sit right in front of the other.
Alaister: Here they are... I got you a butterbeer... I hope that's what you wanted, I forgot to ask you before. Daniel: Knew I could count on you! Cheers!
And just as soon they would rise their orders, by the corner of their eyes, they noticed how a group of spiders rushed out of nowhere, and not small ones, precisely, yet not as big as an adult acromantula.
Alaister: Ah! W-Where those came from? Madam Rosmerta: Somebody help, please? My potential customers are fleeing from these spiders!
And, soon enough, they've found themselves, using Arania Exumai as their lives depended on it... Luckily, Alaister wasn't alone with this, and he even found it quite nice to work together with Daniel as he used to...
Madam Rosmerta: Well done, lads! Thank you for your help, the next round is on the house! Alaister: Oh, thank you very much Rosmerta, but it was not the big thing... Although, I am worried about their possible origin... Madam Rosmerta: Oh, it was probably Hagrid who left his new pets again. He can expect a nice, lil' chat with yours truly next time he comes in for a pint...
Both smiled happily at this and went back to their table, enjoying their time and their drinks... Alaister couldn't stop smiling all that night, even when he was on his bed. The sight of Daniel talking so passionately about his likes, about his day, being so open, so relaxed with him... It was a thing that made his heart flutter like crazy. He even hoped he could just dream of this moment so he'd never forget... Because his smile was his biggest treasure.

Fairy Hunting
Baby Tiffany getting a rare free day and going exploring!
It was finally warm enough to go exploring again after a long and cold winter. The first flowers were blooming in the bright sun as a little Tiffany hiked through the trees. Even at all of seven, it was rare for her to have so much time to herself to go exploring. And she wasn’t about to let it go to waste!
All winter Grandpa had told her stories about the fairies in the woods, and she wanted to see them for herself! She knew about the dangerous creatures in the mountains that protected her village. But it wasn’t often she could hear stories about creatures who only wanted to play and have fun!
With a small wooden box under her arm, she excitedly ran off the beaten path to look for the best spot to see a fairy. The fairy hunting box would help her, just like Grandpa told her when he had shown her. She just needed a good spot.
One hour turned to two, then three. By now, Tiffany was in a place she’d never been before. Something she would normally think was exciting, but the trees were so dense she wasn’t sure which way was which anymore. Sitting down on a fallen tree, she set the fairy box down to have a think and figure out how to get home. Though she most definitely didn’t cry. She didn’t sob and scrub her face on her sweater, afraid she wouldn’t find her way back. No, not at all.
And it was while she was certainly not crying that someone noticed her. Someone who’d never seen a child out this way before. And for good reason.
“Children shouldn’t be here, you know,” said a small voice that made Tiffany jump.
Snapping her head up, Tiffany looked around. But she couldn’t see anyone. Something that made her very afraid. So she did as she was always taught when something was amiss. Keep her eyes open and her mouth shut.
“It’s dangerous here. You should go home,” said the voice again. Concerned this time. And closer.
Tiffany tried to pinpoint the voice, looking around and behind her. But still, no one was there. It was rather strange, she thought to herself as she turned around to sit properly again. Only to have a green light glowing in her face.
She let out a high pitched scream and fell back onto the grass and dirt with a thump and a whimper. If they were that close, she was in trouble.
But instead came laughter. Looking up from where she was sprawled in the dirt, Tiffany watched as the tiniest man she had ever seen walked to the edge of the log, surrounded by a green light that seemed to pulse from wings tucked neatly on his back. He laughed as he watched her, hands on his hips.
“Jumpy little thing, ain’tcha?” He teased as Tiffany fumbled back onto her feet. His hair was green as the light around him. Floating up from the wood, he got closer again.
“Ya heard me, didn’t ya?” He asked and flew around her head, making her spin in a circle and giggled when she did.
“I-I did,” she admitted sheepishly. “But I don’t know where here is to leave.”
The little man crossed his arms and sighed. “A bit old ta be gettin’ lost in the woods, aintcha? Kids your size normally know where you’re goin’. Or at least not ta come out this way.”
“I’m only seven!” Yelled Tiffany, her little hands on her hips. “Northsmen are just tall! Not my fault everyone else is short,” she mumbled as her shoulders slumped. It was hard, being a little girl who could only afford boys hand me downs and was already taller than the boys her age.
“A Northsman, huh? I ain’t ever heard of that. You some type of giant? I’ve met those before!” Spinning around Tiffany again, he flew up high and into the branches above her.
“Had to fly this high just so he’d hear me! You gonna be that tall?”
“No!” She giggled as he came back down to spin around her before lounging on the log.
“Northsmen are humans! We just grow extra tall where we come from. Wherever that is.” Her father rarely talked about where he was from after all. No matter how much she begged. He’d just huff and walk away.
“Humans are weird!” He laughed.
“Fairies never get big. Means we can nap anywhere we like. And I can always have the best hiding spot in hide and seek!”
Tiffany gasped and jumped on her feet.
“You’re a fairy!” she shouted.
“A real life fairy, right?” After bringing the fairy hunting kit this far and she didn’t even need it!
Said fairy watched her a moment before falling back in a fit of laughter.
“I am. What did you think I was? I fly?”
“I’ve never seen a fairy! I came out to see one because I’ve never seen one. Grandpa told me lots of stories all winter about fairies and their games. So I wanted to see for myself. So I borrowed his fairy hunting box so I could find you! Well, a fairy anyway.”
While she continued to ramble and rattle away about stories, and something about running into a frong. Or probably a frog. The fairy sat and watched her with a grin. This was why most fairies like children. Who else enjoyed things as much as a child?
“Sounds like you’ve had an adventure! And I’d know, I’ve been on a few myself, you know,” he told her as he moved to sit on her shoulder.
“Lots and lots of them! I could tell you some while we get you home?” He offered.
Tiffany beamed at the offer. Meeting a fairy and getting to hear their stories? It was better than a Giving! She nodded her head so hard her body moved with her. Causing her new friend to yelp and tumble. Luckily, his wings caught him.
“Sorry! I didn’t mean to!”
Instead of being upset, the fairy laughed as he righted himself.
“Alright, alright. I’ll fly on my own then!” He teased.
“Now, where is home for my tiny giant friend, hm? Which set of humans do you belong to?”
It took Tiffany a few seconds to understand, but when she did she made to point. Pausing only once she remembered she didn’t know the way.
“I’m in Kingspool. The village on the cape. I live up on the cliff.”
“All the way down there?” The fairy whistled. Long walk for a little human.
“We’d better hurry if you want to be home for supper, my tiny giant! But lucky you, I know the way. I’ve fought off a few of your cats,” he laughed as they started back down the mountain and to a path to take his new friend home.
"The cats are mean," she agreed while they walked. She never had much luck with the cats in Kingspool. The ones by the docks were the worst!
"They are!" Laughed the fairy flying just a little ahead to mimic swatting them. "There was a tabby that chased down rabbits day and night!" He complained.
"Couldn't have that. Fat cat ate plenty without being a big bully! Took a while to chase him off. Broke my wing too! I thought I was done for," he whined, sinking a little as he flew.
Tiffany covered her mouth and gasped.
"Oh no! That must have been scary! Our cats get big! Was he going to eat you too?" Adjusting the fairy box, she kept pace with her new friend as he flew a bit ahead to show the way.
"Probably. But luckily for me. I'm smarter than a little bunny," he giggled and spun around.
As Tiffany walked behind the fairy, she leaned closer, excited to hear more. A fairy with stories! What could be better than that? She almost hoped she wouldn’t make it home in time for supper. This was better than anything her mother could make.
“What did you do? Oh, you didn’t hurt them too bad, did you?” Even if they chased her relentlessly, she would feel bad if something bad happened to them.
The fairy laughed hard. His head tilted back so far that he ended up flipping back having to steady himself with a few hard flaps of his glowing wings. Human children were some of the most curious creatures and excitable.
“He was alright. Mostly. A couple cuts and scrapes, nothing his humans couldn’t help him with. Managed to get him to run off. And straight into a rose bush!” He laughed again, holding his sides.
Which made Tiffany laugh too! She supposed that wasn’t so bad. She’d fallen in them too. It hurt, but nothing bad ever happened to her! The worst part was the scolding she got for ripping a new shirt.
“I’m glad he stopped being a bully! No one should be that mean! But how did you scare him into the bush if he broke your wings?”
He gave the little girl a smug look before turning to float upside down.
“Cats are stupid,” he explained simply. When that wasn’t enough, he kicked his feet to get upright again. Clearly, a fairy who enjoyed a good story. Or, at least, a chance to brag.
“When he wasn’t paying attention, I threw pebbles at his tail. Huge fluffy thing it was!” He spread his arms wide.
“And when he turned to look at what got his tail, I threw one on his whiskers. Back and forth and over again! Until the stupid cat spun himself silly!”He giggled again at that, spinning around like he was chasing his own wings.
“Then with a loud hiss, he ran off straight into the thorn bush! Dumb cat stayed inside for a week!”Smacking his hands together, he mimicked the cat with a laugh.
Picturing a cat running in circles, little Tiffany couldn’t help but loudly laugh as well. What a silly sight it must have been! She wished she could have seen it for real.
“That’s really smart!” She praised, laughing more when he puffed out his chest with pride. Fairies were better than the stories. Tiffany almost didn’t want to go home, even as she followed him down a barely used path.
“One of the smartest! And the toughest!” He told her, playfully flexing his arms while he guided her on, careful of anything else in the mountains that would want to hurt a little girl. While fairies weren’t the only things among the trees that liked children, it wasn’t for the same reasons.
“Do you have any other fun stories?” She begged as she jumped on a log and walked down it with her arms outstretched.
“Lots!” He chirped as he playfully ducked and weaved between low branches.
“I could tell you about when I fought off a Treewalker!” The fairy stopped at that and seemed to think for a moment.
“Maybe not. You might be a little young for that story. It’s scary.” Tapping his lip, the fairy hummed, before grinning rather slyly at his tiny giant.
Jumping off the long, she hurried to the fairy. Hands on her hips, she leaned forward a little.
“I’m brave! I’m going to be the guardian of Kingspool when I grow up! Grandpa already taught me lots! I can scare off the banshees! And I know when a shadow isn’t a shadow, or or,” she explained how to protect someone from some of the less scary creatures that lived around.
Something the fairy was quite impressed by as he listened, floating backward as she talked. Most adults didn’t know how to take such good care of themselves! What a smart little girl he’d found. He was surprised she was as lost as she was.
The fairy listened until he bumped into a tree from not paying attention. Laughing, he rubbed his head.
“Aren’t you a smart little giant!” He praised with a laugh. Briefly, he wondered if she needed his help. But either way, he was having far too much fun.
“I guess if you’re that brave, I’ll tell you the story of when I stopped a Treewalker that tried to gobble up my friends and chase us away from home.”
That made her stop in her tracks, bright green eyes wide and her little mouth hanging open.
“You stopped a Treewalker?!” She squeaked. Those were too dangerous for the adults!
“Grandpa says they’re super dangerous, and I should run away if I see one. They trick you, making you think they’re just another tree with vines hanging off it.”
The fairy nodded his head as he flew a bit to try to get her walking again.
“He’s right! They’ll eat anyone they can fit between their teeth.” He held his hands up and mimicked eating with his teeth bared. Not even the animals were that dangerous.
“They’re very tough! Their skin is like tree bark. Makes them very hard to fight,” he explained.
Which had Tiffany rushing to catch up. She needed to know! How did someone so small beat something even the adults were afraid of?
“What did you do? Did you use fairy magic on him?”
“Couldn’t! That doesn’t work on, well, most things ‘cept animals and humans,” he admitted with a laugh. Clearing his throat when she frowned.
“I had to fight him off by myself! With thorn daggers and thistle arrows!” Pulling out said daggers, he spun them in his hands and did a quick trick of tossing them up and catching them.
“Tougher than the stuff you find on a bush, but still not very strong against a Treewalker when he’s hungry. But I wasn’t going to let him eat any of my friends!” He explained, swooping low and back up again.
“I stabbed at his fingers and wrists to make him drop my friends, but it wasn’t enough. He was stubborn! No matter how many times I hit him, he just didn’t care. I thought we were done for!”
“Oh no!” Gasped Tiffany, covering her mouth. Treewalkers never stopped until they were full. Though she’d never heard of them ever being full, just always starving.
“What did you do? Did he eat everyone?” She worried and bounced from foot to foot, even as she tried to keep up. The fairies had to be okay! They had to. Otherwise, that wouldn’t be fair. And to a seven year old, fairness was still very important.
“Nah! Fairies are known for being clever, you know.” He pretended to knock back an arrow and winked.
“When I knew I couldn’t stop him from eating my friends, I did the only thing I could do! I shot him in the eyes. One right after the other!” Pretending to let go of the imaginary arrows, he raised his hands triumphantly.
“Then! When he was yelling and scratching at his eyes, I threw a dagger in his mouth!”
Wide eyed, Tiffany jumped. They were so small. How could something so small stop something as big as a tree?
“Was it enough? Did you scare him off?”
At first, he just beamed before he nodded.
“It worked! When he couldn’t open his eyes he got really mad and started to swing his fists like mad! But I dodged him easy. When I threw the dagger, he decided we were too much work and bumped around and away!”
Tiffany cheered loudly, throwing a fist into the air. Happy endings were her favourite.
“You’re amazing! Grandpa was right. Fairies are wonderful,” she praised.
“Thank you! It’s always good to know someone still likes us,” he told her, coming to a stop.
“Maybe if I see you again, I can tell you more stories,” he offered before waving a hand.
They were in a familiar spot. The trees faded away, and in the distance was a small house on a cliff with a tin roof and smoke curling out of the chimney.
Tiffany stood in awe. Looking over her shoulder, she spun around, trying to make sense of everything. They hadn’t walked that long, surely? Had she gotten so turned around that she hadn’t actually gone far?
Watching her, the fairy giggled.
“Your grandpa should have told you stories about fairy rings. And that you should never walk into one,” he warned with a serious look but smiled quickly.
“Sometimes we don’t let you go. Things are different on this side.”
For the first time since she was found, Tiffany looked afraid. Grandpa had warned her about fairy rings! But she never noticed. Did that mean she was trapped?
Though her new friend only let her worry for a moment.
“Don’t worry, I don’t like keeping people. Most the time. Just keep walking straight ahead, and you’ll make it home.”
When she didn’t move at first, the fairy sighed and crossed his arms. It really was only right to not trust a fairy, he supposed. Especially when he’d already tricked her once. For her own good or not.
“Go on. I’ll stay right here until you get inside and see your parents,” he promised.
He wouldn’t lie, right? But if she left, there would be no more stories. Would she ever get to meet a fairy again?
“Are you going to go far away when you go away?” She asked, fidgeting with her hands.
A small hum and the fairy sunk down to sit on her shoulder again.
“Far away for me, and far away for you aren’t the same thing,” he explained. Things were very different for fairies than they were for humans after all.
“But you better not get lost again,” he teased, grinning wide when she giggled.
“Be careful out there, and I bet I’ll see you again if you go hunting for fairies.” A playful nudge, and he shooed her off.
“Thank you for taking me home! I hope you have lots of fun adventures!” She called as she ran to her little house where dinner was being made still.
Once she made it inside, she didn’t even say hello before she looked out the window.
Just like he said, there was a little green light at the edge of the trees. A little bounce, and it darted away as her grandfather stepped over to put a hand on her head.
“Did you make a friend out there today?”
“Yeah! I met the best fairy!” She giggled as she sat at the table for dinner. The very best fairy indeed. With stories she would keep forever. Tiffany would never stop keeping an eye out for a little green light.
Even when she grew too old to play with fairies and the expectations of the village bore heavy on her shoulders, Tiffany always watched for little green fairy lights.

Split Apart | Chapter 9 - Route Less Traveled
wc: 3.3k
warnings: descriptions of death/dead bodies, gorey kinda, mild swearing, mentions of a weapon but no weapon use. Heavily implied death at the end, nothing descriptive that comes in the next chapter. Kinda harassment by Atsumu?
a/n: ayo nobody ever told me writing a series would be this hard. Consistency? Keeping track of plot points? Making sure it stays interesting? Whos she? Anyways I hope this chapter isn’t too terrible. I’m doing my best... Also I wanted to mention here that Atsumu is kinda like annoying and seems like a douche but... we have plans for him. Promise. Also his behavior with reader is purely for comedic effect/relief from the heavier tones. It’s implied that reader has never told him to stop explicitly (and if she did, he would). Wanted to make that clear since his behavior this chapter is definitely leaning into more of a grey area.

“Ya mean to tell me we’re leaving again?”
Leave it to Atsumu to complain the second he hears a plan he doesn’t completely agree with. Scratch that, the second he even woke up.
“We’re tryin’ ta get to Hokkaido as soon as possible. There’s no time to dilly dally.” Kita explained, leaning up against the back wall of the damaged house, staring across the room at the huddle of Inarizaki boys, all of them groggy and seeking warmth from the others.
You sat near his side, watching quietly as Kita assembled the group, and explained to them the logistics of the plan you had made together the night before.
The wood was cold against your rear, seeping through the insulation of your yoga pants, the black fabric stained with patches of dust.
In your hand was an empty bag of chips and package of natto. The remnants of your halfhearted breakfast.
“It’s barely even light out yet!” He grumbled, rubbing at his face to press away the sleepy numbness that had settled over the course of the night. “We couldnt’a waited even a bit longer?”
“Once we get to Otsu, we’ll spend an extra day resting, okay?” Kita promised, doing his best to placate an increasingly rowdy Atsumu.
“Unless you wanna turn into a popsicle by the time we get to Hokkaido, I’d suggest you stop complaining, Miya.” You grumbled, leaning your back up against the fragmented wall. “If we wait too much longer, we’ll have to deal with winter on top of everything.”
“She has a point, ‘Tsumu.” Osamu said, turning towards his brother.
“Of course ya’d side with her!” Atsumu snapped, glowering at his twin. Osamu didn’t respond, impassive and unamused. “But fine. We can leave.”
Akagi chuckled from the side. “Don’t think it was up to you anyways.” He said around a mouthful, stuffing the last of his chips into his mouth.
You snorted in amusement at the scandalized look that befell Atsumu’s face.
“The walk shouldn’t be too difficult.” With his words, the attention drifted from your side of the room to the opposite, where Kai had just entered from an adjacent hallway. He stood alongside Chisaki and the other Kyoto locals that were going to be tagging along. “It’s mostly flat, and should be pretty open in comparison to the city streets.”
“Thank ya again for comin’ with us.” Kita had left his perch against the wall, approaching Kai with a friendly smile and nod. Kai only waved him off unceremoniously.
“It’s no problem, really. We’re all ready to go, looks like you guys need a few more minutes though?”
Kita glanced over his shoulder where the Inarizaki members stood, observing their states of being. Everyone was slumped with their bags nearby, some of them distracted by their breakfasts or by conversations happening under hushed tones.
“No...” Kita said, letting out a long, weary breath as he spoke, his expression remaining blasé. “That’s about as ready as they can manage.”
“Huh... alright then.”
“C’mon guys!” Kita shouted, dragging the wandering attention back towards the front and the task at hand. “Remember to stick with a buddy at all times. Doesn’t matter who.”
You pushed yourself from the floor, hands swiping down the front of your pants, adding another streak of unseemly white as the dust they picked up moved from your palms to the dark fabric. “Hey Samu, you wanna-” you paused, sentence interrupted by a harsh gaze boring into you, green eyes narrowed in your direction.
Suna had already attached himself to Osamu’s side, a long arm swung over his shoulders, hanging off of it possessively. Osamu turned his head, peering back at you with an apologetic expression on his face.
“Gee, sorry Y/n.” He said, pointedly ignoring the way Suna was glaring at you, ready to tear you up if you even tried to take Osamu away from him again. “I already promised Rin I’d walk with him. Don’t think its fair for him ta be stuck with Tsumu twice in a row...”
“Oh! That’s okay.” You smiled and waved him off. “I’ll find someone else to walk with.” It didn’t bother you, really, but you could still see the guilt dripping from Osamu’s gaze. You shifted your attention towards Suna, who still hadn’t taken his eyes off of you. “I wouldn’t wanna be stuck with the other Miya either.”
“Oh, Y/n! Y/n!” Speak of the devil. You flinched, warily glancing over your shoulder in search of the culprit. Atsumu was pushing his way through the group of boys towards you, stumbling over his and others’ feet rather clumsily. “I’ll walk with ya!”
You stiffened, whipping your head back around and walking briskly in the opposite direction.
Is it too much to hope he didn’t notice I heard him...?
“Wait, Y/n! I know ya can hear me, just wait!”
“Not happening, Miya!” You ducked behind Akagi, listening to the blond’s heavy footfalls as he raced after you.
“What? Why?” Atsumu had crouched down, peering beneath Akagi’s arm to look you in the face as you scrambled away.
“In what world would I willingly spend time with you?”
“Aw c’mon, I promise ya it’ll be fun! I’ll make it worth your while.”
You froze in your tracks.
Atsumu had straightened again, standing back with his hands folded over his stomach, that stupid, insolent smirk on his stupid face. If the change in his tone hadn’t been enough, that certainly was, and he topped it off with a wink.
Your mouth pressed into a thin line as you too straightened out, not taking your eyes off of him, though saying nothing, and doing nothing.
“I knew ya’d listen ta reason.” You had to physically restrain yourself from cringing at the purr in his voice, a triumphant look on his face that was entirely unbidden. “Come take a spin on the Atsumu train.”
You baulked. Without missing a beat, you turned your head to the side, shoving a finger into your open mouth and mimicking a rather intense rendition of vomiting, gagging obscenely to get the message across.
“Bleh!” You rolled your eyes, nose scrunched in disgust at the smug expression still plastered on his face. “How could you possibly manage to be more gross Miya?”
Atsumu’s expression faltered, giving way to his true emotions for little more than a heartbeat. “Ya don’t even have a partner anyways,” He said with a heavy sigh. “M’sorry, could ya just walk with me? And stop calling me Miya! It’s weird.”
“I do have a buddy.” You narrowed your eyes at him. “Miya.”
“Hey!” He puffed his chest up irritably. “Ya don’t have a partner, stop lyin’. And can’t I have a nickname? Ya just called Samu by his. I have one too, ya know! We’re twins. Package deal, package name.”
“Don’t lump me in with you!” Osamu’s voice rose from somewhere in the group of boys, earning snickers from all around you.
You turned on your heels, rushing past Aran and Ginjima and making a beeline for the front of the room.
“Y/n!” Atsumu took off after you, hot on your tail as you cut through the crowd of onlookers, and latched yourself onto the arm of an unsuspecting Kita Shinsuke.
Atsumu skidded to a halt just in front of you, eyes wide as he watched you wrap your hands around the captain’s bicep, hugging him close to your chest. Kita didn’t flinch even as you squeezed him tight and yanked him towards you, merely watching on with mild shock.
“Told ya I have a partner.” You said, sticking out your tongue at him childishly.
“Kita-san doesn’t count!” Atsumu groaned, though he remained rooted in his spot, fearful of approaching with Kita right at your side. He was scary on his own, even scarier when it came to things involving you.
“Does too, Nasty-tsumu!” You said, skirting around Kita’s side so you were half hidden behind his bulky frame.
It was quiet for a moment, before you felt the man beneath your grasp jerk suddenly. You glanced up to see him hiding his face, coughing into his fist to stifle a laugh.
Atsumu seemed less amused, pouting at the nickname and Kita’s reaction to it. “Nasty-tsumu?!”
“What, don’t like that one?” You asked, basking in the warm glow of Kita’s soft giggles. “How about Grody-tsumu? Shitty-tsumu?”
It was your turn to wear a smug smile, as you heard the strangled coughs and poorly concealed laughter rise up from the rest of the Inarizaki members.
“Hey! Guys??” Atsumu whirled around to face his friends and brother, all of them snickering behind their hands.
“Seems like ya earned this one, Nasty-tsumu.” Osamu chirped from his spot, snickering at his brother’s new nickname.
“Hey-”
“Sorry, sorry.” It was Ginjima who spoke up, a grin on his face as he approached Atsumu, slapping a hand onto his shoulder. “We didn’t mean ta laugh. I’ll walk with ya... Shitty-tsumu.”
“Okay, okay, that’s enough.” Kita hummed, the sound jittery with the giggles still making their way through him. “Let’s head out before it gets too late.”
You let go of his arm promptly, settling at a comfortable pace at his side instead as the group left the safety of the abandoned house, stepping outside and into the dingy light for the first time since the day before.
There was the distinct scent of petrichor in the air - it must have rained overnight.
“Sorry about grabbing onto you like that.” You said with a sheepish smile, but Kita only shrugged his shoulders, eyes glittering as he glanced down at you.
“I don’t mind..”
With 7 inarizaki members in tow, plus the 5 kyoto members, the troupe started making their way down the streets of the Kyoto prefecture, heavy grey clouds hanging from above.
It was a little rocky at first, while making your way from the suburbs to the rural highways. Streets littered in debris made it difficult to effectively maneuver so many people. Within the first hour, however, route 9 was well in sights.
You hadn’t accounted for the sheer amount of cars littering the highway. They were much easier to get around than the piles of burned wood and stone you had grown accustomed to. There was always a path cutting past pileups consisting of several cars, many crunched into each other and against the stone barrier along the edge of the highway. Only a few vehicles remained untouched in the middle of the road, abandoned, with doors thrown wide open and the keys still in the ignition. The rest of the cars had careened off the sides of the road, smashed into the outlying trees and bushes, flipped upside down with parts sprawled across grass.
There wasn’t a single soul in sight. You glanced around as you walked, feet crushing already broken glass into smaller pieces, a chunk of a bumper skittering away from your foot as you accidentally kicked it, disturbing the stillness of the surrounding area.
“I wonder where they all went to...” It was Kita who spoke up, his eyes trained on one of the cars that had flipped, the door opened just a crack and covered in blood. You could only imagine what had happened there.
“I’ve no idea-” You wandered off from Kita’s side as you spoke, drawing closer to one of the pileups you were passing by.
“Y/n, wait-” Kita called, reaching out for you.
You stepped around one of the cars, avoiding the engine that had fallen from it during the collision, and peered through the window.
The sight you saw had bile rushing up your throat, a queasy feeling taking hold of your insides, wrenching and twisting them. You slapped a hand over your mouth to hold in the terrified squeal, and the breakfast you had eaten just hours before.
The people in the car were still there.
They were covered in cuts and scrapes, bodies crushed against the seats to the point of immobility. Though you supposed it didn’t matter anyways, seeing as they were no longer alive.
But all of that was hard to see past the jarring blue-ish purple tinge that had taken hold of their skin, leaving it blotched and messy, accented by thick black lines of blood leaking from every hole and gash, smothering their faces and fronts.
They were hardly recognizable as human.
You stumbled back, holding your breath, pinching your nose shut, unable to tear your eyes away from the gruesome scene.
Warm hands wrapped around your waist, before they tugged you in the opposite direction. Only that was able to break the sickening trance that had taken hold over you.
You shuddered in Kita’s hold as he dragged you away from the crash, tucking your head down and against his chest, so that you wouldn’t have to see anything similar in the nearby vehicles.
“Nobody look into these cars!” He yelled out, the group responding to the urgency lacing his voice, and the curious few backing away from the separate cars they had been approaching. “Are you okay?” His voice was much softer now, quieter, as he looked down at your figure.
You were green in the face, struggling to hold back the sickness in your stomach. “’M fine..” You mumbled, a dazed expression on your face. “Let’s just go.”
You continued down the highway, keeping your gaze on nothing but the dirty pavement and painted white lines. Kita never left your side, his fingers brushing against the small of your back every once in a while as he gently guided you along.
You hardly payed attention, the words he exchanged with Kai and the other members of the group nothing more than mumbling as you walked.
The path went on for hours.
You couldn’t get the image of that couple out of your head, their gruesome demise flashing in your minds eye every time you caught a glimpse of a car bumper, or the faintest whiff of decomposing bodies on the breeze.
It was almost relieving when you finally saw a city rising up in the distance, drawing closer and closer with every step you took.
“There’s Kyoto.” Kai breathed, pausing next to Kita as the group approached the edge of the city. Almost none of the buildings remained intact - what was once a proud skyline completely leveled.
There was a distinct lack of buildings down a section of the city three lanes wide. A crack on the other half of the highway started near the edge of the city, running into the populated area and growing wider and wider as it went. The road was split into two, pavement slipping in, buildings leaning precariously over the edge of the chasm, easily toppled by the added weight of a single rock. Those buildings that had been lucky enough to not get caught in the opening were crumbled, and those that hadn’t been so lucky? Well, you couldn’t see very far down, but you were sure if you took a peek, you could see piles of rubble and stone at the bottom, maybe a sign or two, hundreds of meters below your feet.
“I can’t believe this...” You muttered, venturing just a little further into the city’s borders, Kita sticking close to your side. “This is even worse than I imagined.”
“Let’s get going.” Kita’s voice was low as he spoke, warily looking around the area. “We don’t know what’s in here. It’s best we get through as quickly as possible.”
“I second that.” Ginjima said, shuddering as the group stepped further into the decimated city. “I feel like I’m being watched.”
“It’s entirely possible that we are.” Kai said, pulling his weapon from the pocket of his bag. “Keep your eyes peeled.”
It wasn’t as easy to make progress as it had been on the open highway. Toppled buildings created huge barricades impossible to climb over, and there were several crevasses opened in the street, though none as big as the one you had seen near the outskirts.
The path became much less straightforward than had been planned on the map.
The group was dodging into side streets to avoid hazards, rounding blind corners in complete silence, ears and eyes peeled for the faintest of movements and sounds.
But nothing happened.
Even as you crawled your way through the city, drawing nearer and nearer the opposite side of Kyoto, closer towards Otsu, you didn’t see a single person, nor a single disturbance.
The feeling of being watched never left, gazes prickling into your back no matter which alley you turned down, or how many buildings you dodged behind.
But still you didn’t see anyone.
Whoever was out there was only observing the group from afar. You couldn’t feel any malicious intent, and they had yet to do anything - they were simply watching those who passed through their territory.
It didn’t make the hair on the back of your neck prickle any less.
It was only as you began to approach the edge of Kyoto, only a little less than an hour away from Otsu, did you finally begin to relax a little, more capable of ignoring the burning sensation at the back of your skull, and the eerie sense of doom surrounding you.
You made it through the city without incident.
Your theories had been correct, your plan had worked. Everyone had made it through safe and sound.
“I can’t believe it.” You breathed as the buildings and rubble began to thin, making way to the suburbs and outskirts, broken down shrines lining the path. “That seemed almost too easy.”
“Let’s take a win where we can get one.” Kita said, laughing a little. You could hear the relief behind his breathless giggles, pent up nervousness finally released.
The sun glinted, hanging low in the sky, just beneath the canopy of rainclouds. It was getting late. The shadows that had been nonexistent loomed a little further, stretching down the length of the block.
“Seems you didn’t need us after all.” Kai said with a smile, Chisaki tagging along at his heel as they walked alongside both you and Kita.
“I guess not. Sorry to make ya come all this way.”
“It’s alright Kita-san.” Kai said, adjusting the strap of his bag to rest more comfortably against his skin. “We’ll use this opportunity to load up on supplies we can’t get in Nantan. Can you guys make it to Otsu on your own from here?”
The group stopped walking, allowing the inarizaki members to gather close to Kita. As the pair spoke, the Kyoto locals trailed off, making their way towards a drugstore on the opposite side of the street - Chisaki leading the crew.
“I think we’ll manage.” Kita said, returning the smile Kai offered him. “Is this where we part ways, then?”
“Seems like it.” Kai held out his hand once more, grabbing Kita’s firmly in his grasp. “Don’t forget to send those rescuers our way once you make it out of here.”
“How could I forget that?” Kita grinned, his fingers squeezing tight. “Stay out of trouble.”
“No can do!” Kai said, releasing Kita from his hold and jogging off after his group members. “It’s in my blood!”
You watched with a smile as he joined Chisaki at the entry to the drugstore, discreetly pressing a kiss against the crown of her head before letting her go inside.
He turned just before disappearing into the semidarkness of the store, waving one last goodbye to you and the rest of the group. You waved enthusiastically after him, joined in your ministrations by most of the others.
“Thank yo-” A loud crack drowned out the rest of your words.
You blinked, looking around for the source of the deafening sound, but everything was still.
Another loud crack boomed through the deserted streets.
You watched in horror as the building across the way crumbled, collapsing in on itself, and burying everything, and everyone, beneath piles of cement rubble.

“Satoru! Where’s Megumi? You said he’d be here? Something about looking for a special grade?” you bounced around, grasping his arm and shaking it along with you. You loved annoying him. The two of you had always been close. As a child, Gojo was still as bright and cocky as he was today, he had many proclamations of being your protector. Though, as you two aged, you learned how to protect yourself, becoming a jujutsu sorcerer whilst staying by his side. Of course, you were nowhere as talented as Gojo, but you never let that stop you, and he never used that fact against you.
You were still high in the rankings, a grade 1 to be exact, and you worked hard to get there. Not because you wanted to catch up with Gojo, but because you wanted to make him proud. He was the only one who had supported you through it all. Your parents weren’t much help, but Gojo was there for you when your world was crashing down, when you had broken into pieces he would be the one to put you back together.
Always.
There had never been a time where you had doubted Gojo. Until, maybe now.
“I dunno, I got souvenirs!! Kikufuku Mochi! They’re really good! You gotta eat some with me!” his mouth quirked up into a boyish grin. Gojo never lost his childishness and that was something you had always admired, even if his personality constantly irked you during your tween years. Nonetheless, you both stay loyal to one another.
You couldn’t help but smile at him.
“Why’re ya smiling like a weirdo? You got a crush on me or somethin’? He teased, using his free hand to boop the fluff of your cheek with his pointer finger. He never failed to ruin the moment. Typical Gojo. You sighed, running a hand over your face. “Shut up Gojo, let's go find Megumi before something bad happens to the kid.” you huffed, earning a laugh from your companion.
___
“You didn’t tell me the cursed object was Ryomen Sukuna’s finger.”
“You never asked.”
“You little-”
“What’s the situation?” he suddenly spoke, cutting you off whilst catching the attention of both Megumi and the strawberry haired male. You knew in an instance that this male was the vessel of Ryomen Sukuna. He emitted the curse energy of Sukuna himself. You always felt a connection to Sukuna and had helped find several clues and his fingers, resulting in the higher-ups permanently putting you on this case.
“Gojo-sensei! Why are you here?” Megumi exclaimed, his eyes soon darted to your figure right beside Gojo. “Y/n-sensei too?” he gaped. It was obvious that both you and his mentor were close, though, lately, it felt like there was something deeper going on between both of you.
“Hey! How are you Megumi?” you chimed, approaching his wounded figure. “I don’t think he’s good Y/n. He’s all beat up!” he responded, fishing his cell phone out of his pocket. “I should show the second-years!”. He laughed as he snapped a few embarrassing pictures to send to his other students, causing Megumi to turn and hide his shame, along with his injuries.
“The higher-ups wouldn't shut up with a special-grade cursed object missing, so I stopped by while doing some sightseeing.” he huffed, knowing Gojo, he rolled his eyes. You did understand his dislike for the higher-ups. They tended to be more traditional and strict with their ways, while Gojo was...not. Of course, you would always stand by Gojo, even if it meant going up against your superiors. It was all or nothing with him.
“Then Y/n showed up! I don’t even know where she came from!” he loudly exclaimed, as if he wasn’t that skilled to the point where he could sense you the moment you step into the vicinity. You rolled your eyes, whilst the two boys sweatdropped. “So, did you find it?” he queried, staring directly at his student.
“Um… Sorry, but I ate it” the strawberry-haired male awkwardly chimed in.
A pause.
“For real?”
“For real.” the two replied in unison.
Gojo moved to observe him, leaning in close to his face. His chin propped onto his right hand in contemplation, a little pout forming onto his lips. He leaned in close with a laugh before pulling away from the male. Sometimes Gojo forgot that boundaries existed. The thought made you sigh, your mind suddenly recalling the time Gojo had tried to convince you to take a bath with him while still being in the tub, the bubbles barely covering what they needed to cover. Of course, Gojo enjoyed teasing you, along with being able to see your cute flustered face. You were pulled out of your daydream as he suddenly spoke, not realizing that you had completely missed their conversation.
“Then give us ten seconds. Once ten seconds are up, come back to us.” Gojo demanded as he stretched. You stretched your hand out towards him, taking his souvenir to protect it. You knew Gojo was craving to fight Sukuna. You could feel it. You were aware that he was stronger since he had only ingested one of twenty cursed fingers of Sukuna, but that still did not ease your anxiety.
Megumi, knowing how much of an overthinker you are, gently grasped your hand hanging on your side, lightly squeezing it in reassurance, as if to say ‘He’ll be okay, he’s the strongest.” You proceeded to nod at him and return the gesture. You pulled out a clean handkerchief, moving to slowly wipe the blood away from his face, aware of the fact that it would take some time to get him the proper medical attention he needs.
“But…”
“Don’t worry, I’m the strongest.” he cheekily responded. That eased your anxiety even more. You rolled your eyes once more at his cockiness. A small part of you hoped that Gojo would be graced with the opportunity to get his ass kicked, but a bigger part of you was aware of how strong Gojo was, and knew how quickly he would be able to defeat Sukuna’s vessel.
You slowly sat beside Megumi, straightening the short length of your skirt while stretching your legs. You had a love-hate relationship with your jujutsu uniform, love because you looked amazing in it, and hate because a certain someone made your skirt length a tad bit too short. Of course, you wore shorts underneath, but it was still irrational to force all of the females to wear something as revealing as a skirt.
Technically, it wasn’t mandatory for you to wear the uniform but Gojo insisted as it would raise “morale”.
As Gojo continued to ramble on, a dark figure was already ascending, aiming for Gojo himself.
“Behind you!” yelled Megumi, frantically reaching for your hand to pull you away but you just brushed him off, patting his knee to reassure him. “Don’t worry Megumi, I got you, just let Gojo have his fun.” he slowly nodded, still listening to his mentor ramble about mochi.
In a split second, Gojo was sitting atop of Sukuna, whilst Sukuna was crouched between your thighs, his arms on either side of your legs, the skin of your thighs barely brushing against his forearms. You laughed at his incredulous expression before raising a hand to pat his cheek and mockingly pouting before blowing him a kiss. Leaving him stunned, he quickly snapped out of his daydream before continuing to attack Gojo.
___
Your eyes fluttered open, the bed of flowers soft underneath your fingertips. You glanced around, hoping to find something, someone, anything familiar within the vicinity. Panic engulfed you, bile steadily rising in your throat. Tears began to gather in your eyes. Being in unfamiliar places had always given you a large amount of anxiety, especially since you’d just been sitting beside your pupil while watching your best friend fight the king of curses.
“What are you doing just sitting there dumbass?” a gruff voice called from behind you. You whipped your head back, hoping to find someone you know, but no such luck. The person behind you was quite intimidating. They emitted straight power and confidence. Unable to say anything, you stood there gaping at the stranger.
“What? Why’re you staring at me Y/n? You like me that much?” he teased, stepping closer to your figure to brush the stray leaves that had fallen onto your head. Even if he was a stranger, you felt no need to flinch or run away from him. The air around him had a sense of familiarity. As if he were a warm blanket amidst a harsh winter. You wanted to wrap yourself in him, feel him and his warmth. His love.
“Come on, let’s go princess. I don’t need you getting sick ‘cuz you were being a dumbass.” he sighed, wrapping his arm around your waist before pressing a kiss on your forehead.
At that moment, everything had faded away, leaving you with nothing but butterflies and the tingling sensation left on your forehead from his loving kiss.
___
You glanced at your shocked pupil. His eyes are wide with his mouth agape. “Y/n-sensei… Have you finally lost it? Y-You just patted Sukuna’s cheek!” he loudly exclaimed, throwing his arms up in the air. You laughed before avoiding his gaze, concealing the visible traces of shock etched on your face with a smile.
That vision. You have never had something of that sort ever occur in your lifetime. Your mind was completely muddled. Barely registering the next words that leave Gojo’s mouth.
“Both my student and my future girlfriend are watching, so I’m going to show off a little,” he smirked, leaning back onto Sukuna. They continued to fight, not that you were paying attention. You felt Gojo’s stare land on you a couple of times, yet your mind was still occupied with what you had seen.
You suddenly shot up, carrying Megumi as Sukuna’s vessel came skidding towards the both of you. You ran behind Gojo, knowing that it would be safer for Megumi. You sighed once more before sitting Megumi down. Dusting your skirt, you dug into Gojo’s bag of treats before munching on a piece of mochi.
“You jujutsu sorcerers are always trouble, no matter what era!” Sukuna growled, pointedly staring at you as he launched another attack at Gojo. “Though that doesn’t mean much to me.” he continued smugly before his eyes widened, seeing as the three of you had come out fully unscathed.
Megumi sighed as Gojo continued to count down, Sukuna’s vessel returning to his body once more after ten seconds, just as Gojo had instructed him to do so. You droned out for the rest of the conversation, lost in your thoughts on who the male could be. It couldn't be Gojo, the male's voice had a gruffness that Gojo didn’t have.
“You can really control it.” Gojo mused, stepping towards him.
“He’s kind of annoying though, I can hear his voice. He keeps mentioning this girl. Her name is Y/n I think? He keeps cursing her out! Saying things like ‘After almost a millennia she shows up!’ and ‘I’m never forgiving her, no matter how pretty she looks in that skirt.’ and--” he paused, scratching the back of his head. “He just swore at me for exposing him.”
Both Gojo and Megumi turned to you, eyebrows raised in curiosity. You froze. You weren’t sure of what these two wanted to hear, as you are just as clueless to the situation as they are. Contemplating how to answer, you ended up shrugging your shoulders, stuffing your face with even more mochi, resulting in Gojo sighing before knocking out and carrying the male.
___
You sighed, throwing yourself onto your bed before glancing at the cursed object currently on the palm of your hand. Sukuna’s severed finger was long while his nails were sharp. You traced the skin of the fingers, your curiosity getting the best of you. You studied his fingers from time to time but never got tired of looking at them, feeling the immense power it held.
“Why are you still up?”
“Fuck you Satoru. I hate it when you sneak up on me like that you bastard,” you grumbled, shoving your face even further into your pillows to avoid seeing his cheeky smile that you adored. “Aw. You’re so mean to me,” he fake pouted. “I just wanna be… appreciated,” he yelled in tiny, quoting that one lady.
“Come here. Take off your jacket and go change into proper nightclothes, assuming you’re staying the night again.” rolling your eyes. Satoru had made a habit of sleeping in your room, leaving his quarters almost always vacant. He basically lived with you! Even when both of you would see each other almost every day! Excluding the days when you are both on missions.
He smiled before rummaging through your drawers and silently made his way into the bathroom, shutting the door with a soft ‘click’”
When he came back, you were already fast asleep. Your fluffy sheets enveloping your whole figure, making you look so small in the mess of sheets you peacefully laid in. So beautifully peaceful. He smiled, leaning down to give your forehead a small peck, then situating himself beside your figure and pulling your body into his arms, knowing how well you slept when you were held.
___
You inwardly groaned, feeling as if your head was about to be split into two. You looked around, stuck in an unfamiliar place once more. This time, it was real life. You could feel it. You were able to control all your actions unlike during the first occurrence. Meaning that the vision you experienced may have been a memory, maybe from your past life.
This place had a menacing aura, a silent force pushing you to bend to its will. You knew better. Being an experienced sorcerer yourself. You grasped the holsters located under your skirt, silently clutching the pair of your guns before walking forward. You were able to enclose your cursed energy into your guns, shooting them out whenever and however you pleased.
“Nice guns. I remember when you didn’t use any weapons at all. Only using your cursed energy to fight. You were a much better fighter back then.” a voice drawled, a shiver going up your spine. You whipped around, eyes widening at the King of Curses sitting on his rightful throne. “What are you talking about Ryomen Sukuna?” you growled, clicking the safety off of your weapons.
“So formal. You used to call me Su-chan, you know?” he smirked, greedily enjoying your facial expressions. “That was then. Before you fucked me over,” he growled, his face contorting into anger. “You don’t remember what you did to me. Do you? You’re selfish. Then and now. You’re so fucking selfish. Get out before I lose my patience with you.” he growled, fists balling.
Your jaw dropped in shock. You didn’t expect his personality to flip so quickly.
“Fuck you, man. I don’t even know you. You don’t even know me like that. Stop acting like you do! What do you mean ‘back then’? You’re swearing at me without even telling me what I did!” one step. “You’re a bitch!” two steps. “You’re a pussy!” three steps. “Fuck you!” you were running now. “You’re a fucking dick! Suck my dick!” you spat right in front of his face, leaving him stunned. Who was crazy enough to curse out the literal King of Curses?
One, in his domain. Two, when he’s no less than a foot away. And three, to his actual face. Only an absolute mad person. It was a fitting description. You angrily peeked at his expression. Waiting for him to obliterate you. His hooded expression is dark. You stilled, unsure of what to do. He… He wasn’t moving nor speaking. Could you just leave? You weren’t even aware of where you are or how you even got here.
“Hey... Are you okay? You haven’t moved in a while. I’m sorry for swearing at you, but you kinda deserved it, not gonna lie.” scratching your head. You continued to stand awkwardly, hoping that he would just stop tormenting you with the silence.
“He-Ah!” you screeched as you were pulled into his lap. His arms wrapping around your waist to constrict you from moving, his hands entwining behind your back. You positioned one of your pistols beneath his chin, forcing him to meet your gaze. He smirked, placing a kiss on the barrel of your gun, further flustering you, warmth spreading to your cheeks.
“You still don’t know how to listen. After a thousand years.” he chuckled. “You’re still the same. Disregarding my anger, even though you’re aware of what I’m capable of.” he softly smiled. An unfamiliar sight. “You never liked listening to me in the first place did you?” he queried, tilting his head up to face you. The grip on your gun faltering. You leaned into him, your weapons falling down your side, clattering down the floor. Sukuna licked his lips.
You moved to kiss him. Your arms wrapping around his neck and pulling him closer to you, your lips fully pressing against his. The feeling of his lips hot and familiar on yours. You moved to clutch his hair, wanting to pull him into you, only for your world to break apart, plunging you into darkness.
___
You jolted awake, flying off of your bed and into the bathroom. Startling Gojo in the process. You splashed water onto your face in hopes of somehow calming your heart down. You remembered your dream vividly. Heavy footsteps made their way to you. You turned to face Satoru, tearing stinging your eyes as he automatically opened his arms and pulled you in.
“What’s wrong kiddo?” he cooed, pressing soft kisses onto your forehead. ‘Kiddo’ had been a childhood nickname bestowed upon you by your childhood friend himself. Seeing as you were younger than him. You clutched him tighter, wanting to feel him surround your whole body.
“I don’t know bunny. I just don’t know anymore.” you continued to sob whilst Satoru continued to hold you, his concern evident through the crease of his eyebrows, his bright cerulean eyes piercing through you. You didn’t understand what you were going through. Were you upset because of your affiliation to Sukuna? Were you upset because of the kiss? How were you going to tell Satoru about the kiss?
“You don’t have to tell me what’s going on. Even though I might already know. But, just try to calm down okay? Can you take deep breaths for me kiddo? Come on, you got this. You’re a good girl. In. Out. Yeah, that’s it baby.” he continued to comfort you, the sound of his voice soothing all your negative feelings and thoughts.
After another ten minutes of standing in the bathroom wrapped in his arms, your cries have finally ceased, your soft sniffles and puffy red eyes the only proof of your sadness. “Come on kiddo, wash your face for me. It’ll fix the puffiness.” rubbing your arms before making his way out of the bathroom, giving you time to gather yourself.
Your mind drifted back to Sukuna. Your fingertips unconsciously drifting to your lips, the kiss plaguing your mind. He had spoken quite a bit about how you never listened. Very accurate but how would he have known? It wasn’t as if he knew you. The possibility of knowing Sukuna in one of your past lives was close to impossible. He must be playing tricks with you, trying to bend you to his will. You may have had a moment of weakness last night, but it was going to be the first and the last time you let yourself go in front of him.
___
“Eat my ass Satoru!”
“Well, I’ve been trying for years bu-” he yelped, clutching the arm that you mercilessly attacked. He had a nasty habit of making too many sexual jokes. Of course, you weren’t going to deny the fact that you’ve shared similar thoughts, but you would rather jump out of a moving car than admit it to your best friend. Knowing him, his ego would triple and nobody had the time or patience for that.
“You are so mean!” he pouted.
“I am not! You’re just a little piss baby.”
“I’m filing for a divorce. I can’t tolerate this slander anymore.” he huffed, walking away after absolutely destroying him in Mario Kart. His pride took a hit. He had taught you that game! You couldn't be that much better than him, the screen displaying fifth place while you came second. You giggled as you followed him, clinging onto his arm as you peeked at his sour expression.
“Don’t be a sore loser Satoru. It’s not cute.” you chastised. Pointing your index finger at him, resulting in him playfully biting at you. “So what I’m hearing is, I’m cute the rest of the time.” he flirted, lowering his sunglasses to wink at your steadily heating face.
“Sure, but we both know who’s the cutest.”
“Of course you’re the cutest kiddo.”
“I was talking about Nanami, but sure. That’s good too.”
His jaw dropped. Did you find Nanami cuter than him? The Gojo Satoru? He was visibly stressing, running a hand through his soft snowy locks before letting out an exasperated sigh. “Fine. You’re not cute. You can go play with Nanami. I don’t like you anymore.” he pouted once more, shaking you off of him. “Noo-” you tightened your hold on him, pulling him to the exit of the arcade. “Let’s go get ramen. My treat since you’re so cute.” You teased.
You smiled at him before facing forward, missing the way Satoru’s lips parted in awe, a light blush dusting his soft pale cheeks. His wide eyes are full of love hidden behind the lens of his sunglasses. He turned away from you, placing his vacant hand on his chest, a futile attempt at calming down his racing heart.
“Okay.”
___
“Oh. You’re back.” he deadpanned, eyes boring into your figure. The setting was different today. Instead of being in what you had assumed what his domain looked like, you were sitting beside him on the engawa of a quaint traditional Japanese home. You scowled, furrowing your eyebrows as you scowled at the nonchalant male.
You lunged at him, hoping to pin him down to press for answers. Not realizing that your attire had also changed, tripping on the length of your floral patterned yukata, resulting in you landing on top of Sukuna himself. His eyebrows almost flying up to his hairline.
You peeked at him. His hair dishevelled, a rosy blush adorning his cheeks. Your eyes trailed lower, unable to look him in the eyes. A mistake on your part. His white yukata had slightly unravelled, exposing his tan, golden chest to your wandering eyes. Your mouth is drying up at the sight. Unconsciously licking your lips.
His shocked expression replaced with his usual smirks, his fangs making an appearance. “Didn’t know that you wanted it that bad, princess. What’s wrong? Your little friend isn't enough for you?” he sneered, gripping your waist with his hands, his razor-sharp nails slightly digging into your sides, causing you to squirm uncomfortably.
“What is your problem you freak?” you growled, fisting the fabric of his clothes.
“Me? I’m not doing shit babe. It’s you who has a problem.” he scoffed, sitting up, inching his face close to yours. Your noses lightly bump into each other as you felt your cheeks heat at the contact.
“Why so shy princess? I remember when you used to make me eat my words. You were so cute back then. Thinking that you owned me, thinking that you were in charge of me. Learn where you stand. You are nothing to me”
Lies continued to spew out of his mouth like vomit. He knew he was lying. He knew that you had him wrapped around your finger that moment he saw your face once more. The anger of the past dissipated. Only you left. It wasn’t his fault. You were his only love and you left him. Well, that's how he saw it.
The pain of losing his love had left an ever-present scar on his nonexistent heart. You had been the only person to ever stay by his side, no matter how much he tried to push you away, to insult you, make you hate him. To no avail, you bulldozed your way into his life and his heart.
“Stop lying to me. I know you’re lying. I can feel you lying Sukuna. I-I don’t know how to explain it...but I just know. I don’t know you, but you feel so familiar. Your habits, your personality. I keep getting flashbacks, or memories. I’m not sure. Though, I do know that they aren’t mine. At least… not in this life…” you trailed off, avoiding his piercing gaze. “But I know that the guy in those visions are you. It just… feels like you. Your warmth, your words, your voice…even your touch” you gently placed your forehead against his, closing your eyes for no sole reason. Only wanting to feel his energy. Feel him.
He sighed.
“Still the same as ever, princess. Always find your way into my heart” he heartily chuckled before continuing, placing the warm palm of his hand against your cheek. Your eyes flutter open at the contact. “I’ll explain since you asked so nicely” he winked, patting your cheek almost mockingly, reminding you of the time you once did the same. Heat rose to your cheeks.
“So…” he started.
████████████████
What.
████████████████████████████████
What was going on?
████████████████
You saw his mouth moving though no words escaped. You tilted your head in confusion, causing him to pause before cupping your cheeks.
████████████████████████
No words were heard. You were even unable to hear your cries.
████████
“I’m sorry.”
Then black.

Avengers x reader soulmate chapter 1
Tw- abuse, physically with mentions of sexual
You walked in the door quietly, hoping that your parents weren't home or were asleep. You had missed your bus, meaning that you got home late, and they did not appreciate it. Unfortunately, you had no such luck. Your dad was sitting in the living room, surrounded by the stench of alcohol. He grinned at you and you looked down, knowing what was coming. "You're late, bitch" "I'm so sorry dad, Ms. Kemp kept me after school to talk about something and I missed my bus." " DID I ASK FOR EXCUSES SLUT? " "No sir, I'm sorry sir, it won't happen again." He threw his empty beer bottle against the wall, and you ducked but a few stray pieces hit you. "Good. It better not." This was your life. School, jobs, and abusive parents. Very hard to work through, but possible when you put your mind to it. You were the breadwinner of the family, so you paid the bills, the rent, and for the alcohol , as well as the makeup to hide your bruises and cuts from the world. All very stressful, but you managed. "Y/n darling, did you make dinner yet?" Your mom's voice cut through your train of thought. "Not yet mom, I'll get started now!" " Thank you sweetheart, but I don't think you need to eat tonight, you've gained some weight. Your soul mates won't want a fat mate! " That was another stress factor-you had 9 soul mates when most people had 1 or 2. You had 9 beautiful tattoos that others saw as abnormal and ugly (others being your parents -you hid them from the rest of the world), adding to self esteem issues. You worried all the time if your mates would want you or not because of that number.
---
The next day, you were walking home from school quickly-you had missed your bus again due to kids bullying you for your marks when you felt 2 of your marks start to burn.  For a second you panicked, looking around.  You quickly put your head back down and tried to act normally, knowing that you weren't looking your best at the moment wearing sweatpants and a t-shirt.  On the other side of the street, a commotion had been raised and you couldn't help but look up.  Your eyes widened when you saw Black Widow and the Winter Soldier across the street, being swarmed with people asking for autographs.  The Winter Soldier was rubbing his arm where your mark was.  You realized that he and Natasha must be the two soul mates you had just felt.  He made eye contact with you and showed a look of suprise, nudging Natasha and pointedly staring at you.  It wasn't until you made eye contact with Natasha you came back to earth and realized that you had to go.  You bolted, running away with the two Avengers trying to make their way through the swarm quickly.  Fortunately, by the time they were out, you were long gone.
Slipping in the door for the second time in two days, you immediately winced and scrunched up your nose at the overpowering smell of alcohol.  Your ears were hit with a barrage of cheers within seconds.  Your dad had his friends over, and they were watching football.  You headed towards your room so you could say you weren't late, you'd been there the whole time, when your mom came out from her room.  She looked at you, tutted with a look of disaproval, and grabbed your wrist hard.
"You are such an exhausting child!  Why couldn't you be normal?  Why did you have to be so fucked up?  It's honestly such a burden to have you around every day.  You're going to go into the living room, tell your father you're late again, and let him punish you."
She then shoved you into the living room with your father and his friends, who began laughing when they saw you.
You tried to make yourself small as you said, "Hi dad ... I was home late again.  I'm really sorry."
"Well, sweetie, you know you have to get punished, huh?  I'll let the boys give it to ya."
Eddie, one of dad's friends took no time walking up and slapping me hard.  That started the train of men hurting me in every way possible.  When they were done, everything hurt and I was left sobbing on the floor in extreme pain.
---
Meanwhile in the Avengers tower, shit was going down.
"I TOLD YOU SHE HAD (your hair color (yhc) and your eye color (yec))!!"
" BARNES, DO YOU KNOW HOW MANY PEOPLE IN NEW YORK HAVE YHC HAIR AND YEC EYES??? "
"EVERYONE CALM DOWN"
"SHUT THE FUCK UP"
"LANGUAGE"
It was chaos.  The Avengers had their first lead on their soulmate and wouldn't waste it.  They were using every detail Bucky and Natasha had.noticed (which wasn't much) to try and track you down.  Due to your parents rules, you had no social media whatsoever and were in very few pictures, meaning that you were a very hard target to locate.  The lucky thing was, Bucky and Natasha had your image burned into memory.  Natasha was calmer and described you perfectly to Jarvis, who somehow found some information about you.  Tony pulled it up and began reading it to the team.
"Yn yln is an 18 year old girl who is preparing to graduate high school.  She is involved in math and science extracurricular activities, and gets incredible grades, with a 5.0 gpa.  She is reported as hard working by all of her teachers.  That's about it.  Oh wait, her parents are (your mom's name) and (your dad's name).  They don't work, but she does.  They all live in an apartment building right about ... here."  He pulled up your apartment on a map.
"We should go visit her now." Bucky.
"No, we'll catch her after school tomorrow.  Let her have a chill night." Natasha .
"I agree with Nat.  We'll give her some time, then track her down tomorrow.  We know where her school is." Steve .
A consensus was reached, they would meet you tomorrow, a few at a time so as not to overwhelm you.  Natasha and Wanda would find you and talk to you first, then hopefully bring you back to the others.
"Remember, she ran away today.  Be ready for her to be scared to meet her mates tomorrow." Natasha ended the conversation.

Fury’s Daughter
AN: Idk wth I just wrote... I just got this idea so yeah... Happy Reading!
.
You are the adoptive daughter of Nick Fury, when you were 5 he adopt you when your parents died on a plane crash that was cause by Hydra, your parents and Nick were good friends that’s why he took you in.
You were a smart kid, always analyzing things, Fury told everything to you and never lie. To protect your identity Nick made you a new one as you volunteer to be an agent of Hydra to gain information and was branded by the organization. You did dangerous mission and always getting out alive.
You were then sent back to and joined the Avengers initiative but the avengers were suspicious of you as you came out of nowhere, no files, no nothing but a name and Fury’s trust.
No one knew who you are to protect your identity in recon so the avengers treated you coldly but you didn’t care, you didn’t tell it to your father about the situation you are in because you were train to adapt and you did. You were kind to them and all as you and Natasha got closer… like really close. Out of all Natasha Romanoff is the one you have trusted the most.
.
.
You got out from the elevator after a short report you did to Nick about the information you got for the Winter Soldier when you heard the laughing of the team as they sat in the living room with pizza on the table as they talked and laugh at each other.
The laughter halted when they all noticed you and silence came… you knew you were never welcome her but your father trust them so you really had no choice but to put up with it, sensing their discomfort you just gave them a nod greeting them.
“Good evening Avengers” no one answered as you expected and left and went to your room, you heard a light foot steps following you and a hand holding your wrist and seeing a familiar red head you have fallen with for the past few weeks.
“Hey Y/N, I’m sorry about the boys you know how hard headed they are” she sincerely apologized to you as you gave her a soft smile
“it’s ok Natasha, I know they still don’t fully trust me and I understand why, so it’s cool” you replied to her as she looked at you suspiciously searching your face for any lies but you being good at hiding your emotion she immediately gave up when she didn’t find one.
“So… Movie night?” she asked cheekily at you as your brows furrows
“what about the others?” you asked her as she started pulling you towards her room as she shrugged
“they can take care of themselves, come on!”
.
.
One day when you were alone practicing in the gym at 6 am of the morning you accidentally took off your clothes leaving you in your sports bra forgetting that Steve Rogers is always awake at that time and saw your Hydra mark on your chest and thought of you as an enemy and told the team as they planned to eliminate you on the next mission.
To eliminate the Hydra scum.
.
.
“can I get a hand over here?” you heard Clint said in the coms as you took down the last guy from your floor inside a hydra base that you’ve been recon last week
“I’m coming on your way” you answered running to Clint’s direction knowing the base like the palm of your hands as you shot a Hydra soldier who was sneaking behind him
“Thanks” you nodded at him you continue your pursuit taking down agents as you skillfully glide yourself on the battle field.
The battle had stop when Clint finished the last guy as Steve and Natasha immerge from the control room with a case on hand.
They must have gotten the information
“Mission complete, how’s the perimeter Tony?” Captain said on the coms as you get close to Natasha scanning her for any injuries and sighted in relieve when you found none.
“Perimeter is clear as the sky Steve were ready to go home” you smiled at the thought of home… Fury promised you a dinner with Maria and Coulson when you get back since things have been busy these couple of week and you were really excited about it since it’s going to be your first dinner with them again since you got back from recon.
“time for phase 2 then, Romanoff” you frowned at Steve’s word
Phase 2? You never heard about it when at the briefing
You were still in confusion when Steve called Natasha and you felt a searing pain by your side
You wiped your head to your side seeing a knife… a knife you gifted to Natasha lunge by your side.
You looked at her eyes full of betrayal and so as Clint and Steve who was in there with you.
“Phase 2 complete, were leaving, now die you Hydra scum” Steve said voice full of spite hearing a ‘good job’ from Tony and a ‘let’s go’ from Clint as you fall down on your knees looking at their retreating figure leaving you.
The last one you saw was the red headed assassin taking one last look at you as they close the door as your whole body fall down on the cold ground.
You shakily grabbed your phone dialing your father’s number as he answered rather cheerful
“Y/N why are you calling me? Is your mission done?” you heard your dad’s voice making you tear up a bit
“D-dad…”
“get your ass here kid Maria and Coulson just arrived here and im about to finish cooking these turkey”
“c-can I have a rain check on the dinner dad… I kinda messed up…” your voice was now shaking and you are feeling colder than usual the blade may have a poison as you felt a burn and getting light headed faster than normal.
Fury must have sense that there is something wrong by the way your voice sounded
“Y/N what happened? Are you ok?” you can hear his voice full of worry as you heard Maria and Coulson from the background asking what’s wrong.
“I-I think I was the p-phase 2 of S-Steve’s plan dad… it’s really g-getting cold here ya know” blood tricked on the ground from your wound
Your vision darken as flashes of memories filled your eyes.
You can hear the shuffles from the other line saying they are tracking my call and will be sending medical help
“I’m s-scared d-dad… I still d-don’t wanna go” you cried,
“Help is on the way Y/N keep holding on I’m here for you kid” you can hear the shakiness of your father’s voice, you kept trying to keep your eyes open and now seeing dark spots forming.
“T-thanks for everything dad… tell Maria and Coulson I love them…” your voice was barely audible hearing their cried for you to wake up.
“Keep your eyes open for me kid… please”
“I-I think a need a nap… l-love you dad” and you were gone.
They kept calling for you but you never answered back.
.
.
Fury along with Maria and Coulson with a medical team arrived at the base eyes redden because of crying as they found you on the cold ground with your phone by your side and a stab.
Fury cradle you like a baby as the medic announced your death with Maria and Coulson crying by the side.
.
.
“Did you check the monitors?” Fury’s cold voice echoed in a quinjet as your cold body layed beside him with your head on his lap stroking the hair that is covering your face.
“you’re not gonna like it boss…” Maria said with blood shot eyes as she played the video of Steve ordering the Phase 2 and Natasha Romanoff stabbing you as they left you.
“call them up at SHIELD… they would pay for what they did to her” Nick ordered as Coulson took his phone out to call them.
Nick glanced at you as he swiped some blood by your mouth hugging your corpse closer to him.
.
.
.
They avenger’s arrived at SHIELD seeing Fury holding Y/N’s hand as she lay dead on the table with Maria and Coulson by the back holding back their anger.
“what is this Fury?” Steve stepped out in confusion to why they got the body of Y/N
“What is the phase 2 Captain” Nick’s voice was colder than usual
“… to eliminate the Hydra-“ Steve answered as the other’s stayed silent
“and who is the Hydra?”
 “Y/n…”
Then there’s silence, the team were uncomfortable with the silence but Steve was getting impatient with all of it.
“Look I don’t know what is your point here but you should thank us for killing the mole here Fury”
Fury looked at them as Coulson held Maria who was about to attack Steve as Fury spoke…
“I see no dead mole here Rogers… all I see is my dead daughter”
The team’s eyes widen as they froze from there spot
“W-what?” Bruce asked
“Y/N Fury... is my daughter who you called a Hydra scum”
“B-but she had the brand-“
“She had the brand because she was undercover inside Hydra that gave her the mark to extract information for your missions that is saving billions!” Fury angrily shouted making them all flinch.
All of it dawned to them as Natasha fall into her knees realizing she killed a hero… she killed her friend who trusted her… she killed the person who loved her…
“I pulled her out of the recon to keep her safe knowing her all her covers were blown, I put her into your team so she can be protected thinking after all those years of being away we can have a normal dinner like she wanted for years, I trusted my daughter in your hand yet you are the one who killed her…”
Fury stood up tears streaming down on his face
“Avenger Initiative’s termination is effective immediately, all of you would be put in maximum security prison for killing Y/N Fury” Agents entered taking their weapons and cuffing them
“Nick… I’m sorry” Steve’s voice filled with regret rang out as Fury looked at him coldly throwing a file on the ground in front of him as the content spilled revealing pictures of the Winter Soldier.
“Y/N wanted to give you this information from the last recon she was put in to, James “Bucky” Barnes is alive and now known as the Winter Soldier who is working for Hydra and has killed thousands”
Steve’s face was full of shock knowing his best friend Bucky is alive…
“Nick-“
“I’m sorry to cap…” Fury cut him off and coldly apologies to Steve who is now confuse to why as everyone in the room looked at them in silence.
“you took someone dear away from me… and now I’m taking yours, Good Bye Avengers and thank you for your service” before Steve and others could react they were all tranquilized knocking them out cold and only waking up in a glass cell with Ross smirking at them as they sat there in silence thinking the things that they have done for you.
“welcome to your new life Avengers…in prison!” and a loud laugh erupted from Ross as he walked out as ex-heroes gazes followed his exit.

Two Years Ago - Raph x Reader
You never liked talking much.
Never really knew why, you just didn't. Of course, you would still carry a conversation to be polite, but the answers were short and spoken barely above a whisper. There were many times where you tried to change this about yourself, but the attempt didn't last for more than five minutes before you shrunk back into yourself again.
Then how the hell were you friends with four, loud and rowdy mutant teenage boys?
You didn't even know the answer to that one.
And to be honest, the memory of how you met the four of them was still slightly hazy. Of course, Donnie told you what had happened to you, but you personally didn't believe it. Why would robot alien beings want to kidnap a random girl walking home from her night shift? It still didn't make sense to you, nearly two whole years after it happened.
You were fourteen going on fifteen when you first met the four.
You worked at the convenience store not even two blocks from your apartment building, and you had switched shifts with your co-worker Abbigail so she could attend a funeral, which meant you now had the night shift.
It wasn't that big of a deal to you; she asked, you agreed, nothing more was said on the matter.
You texted your parents to inform them of the shift change and told them not to wait up for you, which they obviously denied much to your annoyance.
The shift ended at ten o'clock, but you still needed to do till and make sure the money count on the register matched with what you'd counted. That process alone took you about half an hour, so you really didn't leave until ten thirty. You made sure you switched off all the lights and locked all the entrances before you put the store keys in your jacket pocket and began your short walk home.
It was nearing winter, so the weather was beginning to turn cold, and you weren't exactly the best at dealing with temperature drops. You stood tensed as you speed walked towards your apartment building, wanting to get out of the darkness as fast as you could. There was one building near the end of the street that you almost always completely ran past; a run down looking, white parking garage with the paint peeling and chipping everywhere. It creeped you the hell out, mostly because there were always these two guys that stood at the old entrance, their stare boring into your back as you'd run past. Every day you expected them to run after you or shoot at you, but they never did anything.
Until tonight.
When you looked you didn't see them anywhere, and although you thought it would soothe you, it just made you more anxious.
'Where are they...?' You thought to yourself, nervously glancing around, trying to find the two.
Let's just say you didn't have too look far.
A large white van came screeching around the corner, running over the curb and nearly into you before it lurched to a halt. The back doors flew open and three identical looking men filed out and made their way towards you. In fact, they looked like the men that would always watch you at the entrance to the parking garage...
You literally froze. You didn't scream, move or look away until one picked you up and threw you over his shoulder. After that, you screamed absolute bloody murder, praying you'd get the attention of someone- anyone -that could do something to help you. Thankfully, help came rather quickly, just not in the way you thought.
You fought as hard as you could to at least get the man to slightly falter his grip around you; you punched, kicked, pounded- you even bit him, but it hurt you more than him.
You flailed like a fish out of water and kept screaming, even louder if possible as you got carried closer and closer to the back of the van.
Your voice was cut off when you landed harshly on the ground, trying to use your hands to catch yourself but only hurting yourself even more. You were a shaking mess, trying so hard not to cry but suspectingly failing, bursting into tears and sitting down properly, hugging your knees tightly to your chest as you cried into them. You were absolutely terrified out of your skull.
When someone tried to touch you, you screamed again, though it came out more as a strangled cry than anything else. You'd hurt your throat badly from all of your screaming and had no doubt lost your voice because of so.
"Well we can't just leave her crying in the streets, dudes. We gotta do something!"
You heard hushed voices talking a bit in front of you, but didn't bother to look up or fight. You wouldn't do that unless they actually did something, and that was what you were waiting for.
You cried to yourself, waiting to either calm down or for whoever was in front of you to do... whatever.
But they never did anything, they were quiet for the forty five minutes you were crying and calming yourself down.
"You're gonna be okay, alright?"
You slightly looked up from your knees, and honestly at this point, four giant turtles standing in front of you didn't phase you right now.
One of them was kneeling in front of you, it was wearing a tattered red mask and looking directly at you, with electrifying green eyes.
It looked up at one of the others, but you didn't bother to follow his gaze, your eyes were too tired.
"Don, do you need t' look at 'er?"
"I don't see anything major wrong with her, I think it's just shock right now... to be safe I wanna take a look at her, if she'll let us of course."
It looked back at you, the one with the red mask, and you did your best to keep your eyes open and listen to what he had to say. You were just so tired...
"My brother wants t' take a look at 'cha t' make sure ya weren't hurt too bad durin' that whole thing, okay? You alright with that?"
You barely nodded your head and lied it on your knees, involuntarily passing out.
When you woke up after that, you started freaking out and tried to scream, but found you barely had a voice. You were achy and sore all over and you could barely remember why.
Of course, you properly freaked out when you saw the four turtle figures again, but the ones in red and purple- who were the only ones in the room with you at the time- explained everything that had happened.
Donnie had picked up radio chatter that the Kraang were going to abduct another test patient that night, and the turtles rushed to the location that was shared, and ended up there just in time to help you and destroy the Kraang bots.
You hadn't been too badly hurt; bruised arms and shins from pounding on the metal robots, scraped hands, scraped knees, and a possible emotional blackout, to explain why you didn't remember what had happened to you.
You merely nodded along, trying not to stare too much at the two creatures in front of you, who introduced themselves as Raphael and Donatello.
"(Y-Y/N)...." you stuttered out, thinking that they at least deserved to know your name, after all they've done. Your voice was barely above a whisper, so the boys had to listen carefully to hear your name.
Raph and Donnie smiled, glad to hear that you at least trusted them to that extent.
You asked what time it was, and nearly flipped shit when Donatello told you it was almost 1:30 in the morning. Your parents were going to absolutely lose their minds on you! You scrambled to stand up and nearly fell over, thankful that Raphael had caught you.
"I-I need to get h-home." You breathed out, avoiding eye contact and trying to hide your face behind your (H/C) hair, to hide the fact you were red. Why you were red-faced?
You had no clue.
"I'll take ya. There ain't no way in hell you're goin' alone after this." Raphael stated, standing you back up on your own two feet. You would've fought him on it, had you not have agreed with him. If those Kraang guys still wanted you...
you didn't want to be left alone again. So you just nodded and let him walk you out. You didn't see the other two brothers while you walked out, so you assumed they were somewhere else.
Raphael led you around the systems of the sewer and helped you out of the manhole cover, and once out you took a deep breath of fresh air and closed your eyes in an attempt to clear your thoughts.
"I know you've had a rough night doll face, but we should probably get going."
Your eyes snapped open and you felt your face go warm, and instinct brought you to hide your face with your hair and jacket sleeve. You avoided his gaze and just nodded, speed walking to the sidewalk until you realized:
You had no idea where you were.
"Wh-where are we...?" You wheezed out, slightly turning to face Raphael.
"Just a couple blocks from where we found ya. We gotta take the roofs though... can't really walk out in th' street lookin' like I do."
You nearly asked why until it hit you like a brick. Again, you just nodded and climbed up the fire escape after him. You took notice how some of the roofs were pretty far apart, and hoped to God he didn't expect you to jump over them. Thankfully he didn't, and tried to stick to a route that involved just taking a step across. But for those that involved jumping, he just lifted you onto his shell and jumped across before setting you back down again.
Each time he did so he'd ask if you were okay, and you nodded in response hiding your face. And each time, he'd smile and mutter a small "cute," under his breath, which he didn't know you heard.
Once he brought you to where he and his brothers had found you, he told you to lead the way to your apartment, and you pointed him in the right direction. "So," he started, "Kinda wish we coulda met under better circumstances, (Y/N)."
You nodded in response, keeping your gaze down and stepping over a wooden plank. How the hell'd that get there?
"...You're shy, aren't cha?" Raphael asked, and again you nodded. Not only that, it hurt to talk, but he assumed correctly. He chuckled and lightly nudged your shoulder with his.
"Ya don't gotta be 'round me, I don't bite... much."
You looked up at him with both confusion and shock written all over your face, and it just made him laugh.
"Relax (Y/N), I'm kidding... just a little though."
You rolled your eyes, and yet you couldn't help the small smile that danced across your face.
The both of you walked Ina comfortable silence until you saw your apartment building across the street and elbowed Raphael's arm, pointing to it.
"This is my stop." You whispered, not daring to bring your voice above that. He nodded and hoisted you onto his shell, having to go around the roof tops to avoid going down to the streets. He set you down on your apartment roof, once again asking if you were okay.
"I'm fine, Raphael." You responded, pushing your hair behind your ear. He smiled at you and slightly tilted his head.
"Call me Raph, doll face."
You bit the inside of your lip and looked down, nodding your head. You didn't want him to see your warm and red face, it was extremely embarrassing for you.
"Hey," Raph's voice made you slightly look up, since he wanted your attention. He handed you a folded piece of paper with a number scribbled on it- wait, was this his phone number? Was a guy giving you his phone number? To your face?
"You don't gotta, but if ya don't wanna walk home alone again I'm available if ya need it."
You completely lifted your head to look Raph directly in the face, and he took pride in one thing; making you smile like that. You have him a single nod and held the paper with both hands.
"Trust me, I will.. Raph."
Now it was his turn to smile.
The two of you just stood on the roof for a couple minutes, staring and smiling at each other before something on his belt beeped. He jumped a bit in surprise and glanced at it.
"That's my brothers- I gotta go. You'll be okay?" He asked, taking a small step back.
You nodded, putting the paper in your pocket. "I'm home now. Go."
His smile grew and he backed up towards the edge of the roof.
"Try not t' get into trouble doll face! Just save a little to give me an excuse t' save ya again!" He shouted, just before jumping to the roof next to yours and taking off, eventually disappearing.
"I think I like that. Doll face..." you thought to yourself, still smiling like an idiot. You stood on your roof for God knows how long more before you came to your senses and carefully climbed down your fire escape and slid through your window.
.
"Was that really two years ago...?" You thought to yourself, flipping a pen between your fingers.
Yup. It was.
Two years ago these four boys saved your life, and two years ago you met the boy that kinda saved you, in a way.
It took him time, but he got you to slowly expand your comfort zone. You didn't stutter every time you spoke anymore, and you didn't respond with simple gestures anymore and used actual words that really carried a conversation. And at the same time, you helped him.
You kinda found out about his anger the hard way, having him lash out at you when he was beyond pissed off, and though it did hurt, you didn't blame him. In fact, you made it your goal to try and help him with it.
He'd expressed to you before how he'd never liked his short temper, and so you helped him. You showed him ways that he could release stress and repressed emotions, like actually using his drum kit and playing when he got pissed, or just sitting with you and either talking, or just sitting in silence.
Coming up in December would actually be a year since Raph had asked you out, too.
It didn't really come as a surprise to most, since the both of you were pretty open about affection with each other even before you two decided to make it official, just because.
The two of you would always sit close together, hold each other's hand, cuddle each other and he'd even kiss your cheek every now and again. Every movie night, you bet that the two of you would sit or lie with each other, and Raph would play with your hair or lightly trace an invisible pattern on your arm.
All in all, it wasn't really a surprise to Raph's brothers, April or Casey when he'd asked you out. The only person it surprised was you, but even then you'd accepted in a heartbeat.
And to this day, he still calls you doll face.
Two years later, the boy's nearly eighteen and you the same, you've found a new family.
And a new love.
"(Y/N), doll face, cmon we're headin' out with or without ya!" You rolled your eyes and smiled, shoving the pen in your jean pocket and getting up, grabbing your jacket.
"Yeah yeah, I'm coming Raph!" You called, walking out of his room and slipping your arms through your jacket sleeves as you jogged out to the entrance to meet the boys.
About a year ago, after you'd actually learned how to properly, they let you join along on some of their patrols. Raph made you carry a small dagger though. Just in case you got separated and something happened to you.
Speak of the devil, he heard you coming up behind him and turned around smiling. He extended his arm to you, waiting for you to end up at his side before putting his arm around your waist and pulling you close to his side, kissing the top of your head.
"All ready and fashionably late, doll face?"
You scoffed and rolled your eyes, shoving him while failing to hide a smile of your own.
"Shaddup Raph, I was doing important things." You said, zipping your jacket up.
He just chuckled and raised his arms in mock defence.
"Alright, alright, I'm sorry baby." He said, lightly pressing his lips to the side of your head and cheek in chaste kisses. You turned your head at the last second to catch his lips in a quick kiss. While he smiled and put an arm around your shoulders, Mikey mock gaged.
"Yup, think I'm gonna hurl-" he said, making a queasy face. Raph reached out with his free hand and punched his baby brother in the shoulder.
"Oh shut it Mike, not like ya don't see it regularly." Mikey hit Raph's arm back, which quickly escalated into an arm punching war. You tried not to laugh too much, looking over to Leo and Donnie, who were trying to do the same thing.
"Alright alright alright guys, that's enough!" Leo called, laughing a bit to himself.
"We gotta get going before it gets too late, we gotta take (Y/N) home by midnight. Let's move out!"
With those words, the five of you took off running towards your normal exit to the top world.

“Naruto?”
Your voice broke out softly through the momentary silence. The wind had been howling almost constantly that night, keeping you wide awake. You weren’t afraid of anything, not really. At twelve years old, you, like many of your friends, had the notion that you were invincible. Nothing could touch you, and you would always come out on top. You would miss that as you grew older, the confidence in yourself and your abilities. The belief that the world was fair, and that the good guys always won.
So it wasn’t really that you were scared of the way the wind screamed, the whistles through the tree leaves or the sporadic loud crashes that came as the wind blew branches and even tree trunks to the ground. Maybe it was the fact that you had experienced the first death of an enemy on a mission.
And maybe it was deserved. He had been a criminal, after all, and you hadn’t delivered the fateful blow; of course not. It had been Kakashi, in a bid to save your life.
So maybe you were scared, or traumatized, or reeling from your innocence being shattered for the very first time. Whatever you felt, you were still too young, too inexperienced, to be able to pinpoint what exactly the distressed tugging of your heart meant.
It was what had dragged you from your own tent to Naruto’s, quietly and nervously. Kakashi was in his own tent, and you had been sharing with Sakura who was fast asleep. Having her by your side did nothing to calm the storm beginning to brew from inside you.
You had opened his tent timidly, doing your best not to startle him awake. He was fast asleep, on his side in fetal position hugging his pillow to him tightly. But when you spoke his name, your voice stirred him even from his deep slumber.
Naruto whispered your name, groggily, confused, but he’d know your voice anywhere.
Yawning, he sat up rubbing at his eyes, peering at you curiously. “What happened?” He asked.
“Can I sleep in here with you?”
If you were brave, then there were no words adequate enough to describe the courage that burned within Naruto’s heart. He was sure of himself, of what he believed. He would do anything to protect the ones he loved. He would do anything for you. You couldn’t think of a safer place than by his side.
“Yeah, of course.”
Relief flooded through you as you dragged your sleeping bag into the tent, fitting it next to his with some distance of course. You were best friends, but you were also twelve. There was something embarrassing about sleeping so close to someone of the opposite gender. But you couldn’t remember a time where you had ever slept more soundly.
And thus a new tradition had been born. For the whole year and a half afterwards, anytime you and Naruto were on a mission together, you shared a tent. Sure some of your friends teased you for it, and whatever jonin leading your team would shoot the two of you knowing looks as if they had some secret knowledge that you and Naruto hadn’t yet discovered.
But for you and Naruto, it was normal, as natural as anything. The two of you already spent all your time by each other’s side—it only made sense that that would include sharing a tent when on missions together.
It was only ever a tent though. It wasn’t like the two of you cuddled or anything. That was just embarrassing! Though you two were now out of the stage of believing in cooties, you were beginning to understand that there were some secret, unspoken rules for the way you were expected to act with the other gender. Ridiculous, arbitrary rules that were as old as time and didn’t account for the complexity that was the gender spectrum, but you didn’t understand any of that just yet.
When Naruto left, you were heartbroken, of course. Shattered even. You’d never known that it could feel like you had a hole in your heart until Naruto had taken part of yours with him. You dreaded the years to come of missing him.
But he had work to do and so did you. Naruto was going to get stronger and there was no way you would be left behind. Every time you missed him, you threw yourself into your training. The years didn’t pass quickly, but you found as time went on you were able to find other things that made you feel more whole even when you weren’t.
And just as suddenly, that void was filled. Blond hair and bright orange clothing filled your vision and kicked your heart up into your throat. You hadn’t expected to see him, but nothing could have made you happier.
You’d worried over the years that when Naruto came home, things would be different. Spending two and a half years apart changed things, and you had grown a lot. But you and Naruto fell into step together like he had never left, and just like that you had your best friend back.
But things had changed, though you weren’t going to admit that. When his blue eyes met yours, your breath stopped. Every time his fingers ran through his hair, it was like you were in another world. Part of you knew things were different, but you were never going to say it out loud. You buried your feelings deep within you, hiding your heart like a secret.
The thing that made you most nervous was when you and Naruto had your first mission together since he’d been back. You, Naruto, Sakura, and Kakashi, just like the mission where you’d first shared a tent. You didn’t know what to say, embarrassed to ask if you would both share a tent like when you were younger. If that had been embarrassing when you were twelve, it was even worse when you were sixteen.
When your team stopped for camp Kakashi went to secure the perimeter and Sakura to gather firewood. You went to work setting up your own tent when you felt Naruto’s presence behind you. You turned to look at him. He was standing there, scratching the back of his head, pink dusting his cheeks as he looked anywhere but at you.
“I didn’t bring a tent…” He admitted sheepishly. “When we were younger, we always shared a tent, and I figured we’d just do that again… I can share with Kakashi, though, if it’s weird. I don’t mean to—”
“Naruto,” You interrupted him with a laugh, though the color on your cheeks now matched his. “Of course we can share a tent.” You told him, turning back to your work as you set it up. “Don’t be weird.” You weren’t sure if it was a message to him or to yourself.
Unlike everything else with Naruto’s return, sleeping by Naruto didn’t feel as natural as it had before. There was a tension, almost palpable, settling in the tent. It was as if there was a string attaching your fingers to his, and the more the string pulled you to him, the closer to your sides you kept your hands. You couldn’t know that he felt it too.
The mission was straight forward and accomplished quickly. As soon as it started, it ended, and your team was heading back to the leaf village, only a days journey away. You would stop around the same area you had the night before, camping for the evening before heading home at daylight. You and Naruto had barely talked the whole way.
That night reminded you of the one when you had first crawled into Naruto’s tent. The wind was roaring making it hard to fall asleep. It was winter this time, however, and you hadn’t accounted for the night being so cold. The clothes you’d chosen to sleep in did nothing to keep in your body’s warmth, and your teeth chattered audibly as you curled into your sleeping bag, back to Naruto.
When your name left his hips, it almost startled you. The two of you had crawled into the tent quietly, not even bothering to say goodnight, the weight of the change in your relationship that you could both feel hanging heavy between you.
“Yeah?” You found yourself saying back, almost too quietly for him to hear. Almost.
“Uh, do you wanna, I dunno, sleep in my sleeping bag with me?” He mumbled, the words coming out fast and bunching together. “It’s just really cold, and I’m afraid that your teeth are going to break from clicking together so hard.” He hoped the joke would make it less weird, that you would feel more comfortable.
The question choked you with something you didn’t have words for, a feeling that bubbled in your stomach, spreading warm and shaky throughout your body.
“Okay.”
You crawled slowly, oh so slowly from your bag to his. He tried to scoot to one side, to make room. He unzipped the bag just a little bit, enough for you to crawl in next to him before he zipped it back up. There wasn’t enough room for you to lay comfortably next to him. Your body was on his just a bit, head by his chest and your arms pressed tightly to your side. You felt frozen with excitement and nerves. This was as close to a boy as you’d ever been.
The silence seemed to go on forever, but it was just a few seconds. Naruto’s arm had been pressed motionless to his sides, but slowly he felt them thaw before wrapping around your body, pressing you to him.
“You can like, hug me, ya know? Or put your arms on me or something. Just to be more comfortable.”
You nodded, your throat dry as you tried to swallow. You unlatched your arms from your body, a hand going up to rest on his chest. It only took a moment or two to get comfortable, to feel like your body fit perfectly into his. Falling asleep in Naruto’s arms, that was the most comfortable you’d ever slept.
The next morning, there wasn’t an awkwardness. It was something else, something sweeter, shyer. The string pulled your fingers closer, and though your hand didn’t touch his, neither did it pull away. You’d never felt so giddy in your life.
If only you knew what it meant to Naruto.
Naruto couldn’t remember one time in his life that he had cuddled with another person. He was sure that he must’ve been held at least occasionally as a baby, but it wasn’t anything he could remember. No one hugged him as he grew, no one tucked him in at night or rocked him to sleep. Once, when he was four, Naruto had found a puppy that got away from its owner. Naruto scooped the small animal up, holding him in his arms. The puppy had licked him affectionately, and Naruto was embarrassed by the fact that the small action had brought him to tears. Iruka’s hand on his head was the first affectionate touch he could remember from another person. He’d thought his heart would burst at that moment. It was nothing compared to what he’d felt getting to hold you while he slept.
He’d heard people say that hugging could lower stress, elevate your mood, even help prevent you from getting sick. He’d never understood it. Naruto had occasionally hugged Sakura and gotten affectionate touches from his sensei as he got older, but sleeping with you was different.
He understood now what the experts meant when they spoke about the benefits of hugging. He could comprehend why romantic relationships were so important to people if they got to touch their partner every day. Cuddling with you that night had Naruto’s head reeling, high off an emotion he didn’t even have a name for. He’d never felt so close to another person, so connected. How had he survived sixteen years without this? How had he survived those two and a half years training without you?
It was a mix of emotions as your head hit your pillow that night. You were relieved to have been able to take a shower. A home cooked meal never tasted so good as it did after a mission where you survived off dried meats. The softness of your mattress definitely beat the cold hard ground. But, you realized, you would gladly spend a lifetime sleeping on the floor of the woods if you got to sleep by Naruto’s side.
It was too scary to think about these new feelings. You knew what it was now, that you didn’t just see Naruto as your best friend. You liked Naruto. Maybe even more than liked him. You didn’t know how this could have happened. How could you ever face him again? If he knew how you felt, your friendship would be ruined.
You had resolved to avoid him for the foreseeable future so that you could wait out the feelings. Maybe if you had some time apart, the feelings would go away, and nothing would have to change between the two of you.
Your eyes had finally started to flutter closed with exhaustion when you heard tapping on your window, startling you. Sitting up, you looked uncertainly towards the window before finally getting up and going to inspect the noise. Naruto’s face peering back at you from the other side was the last thing you expected to see.
Opening the window as quietly as you could, you willed the butterflies in your stomach to quell. “Naruto, what are you doing here?” You whispered, glancing back towards your bedroom door, sure that your parents would burst through at any moment.
Naruto looked sheepishly back at you, a bashful grin on his face. “Sorry, did I wake you?” He asked. Rolling your eyes, you did your best to bite back the giddy smile playing on your own lips.
“Yes, Naruto. I’m trying to sleep. What are you doing here?” You asked him again. Instead of answering, Naruto began climbing through your window, making a little too much noise. You shushed him with a stifled giggle as he fell to the floor. “You’re going to wake my parents,” You told him, trying to look stern. Naruto hopped back up to his feet looking at you embarrassedly.
“I couldn’t sleep…” He admitted, his eyes flickering from yours back to the floor. “I was wondering… Do you think I could sleep here tonight?”
The question hung between the two of you, innocent and unassuming. It wasn’t that weird, the two of you were thinking. You shared a tent on missions; was it that different sharing a bed?
“Yeah, okay.” You agreed, feeling breathless. Naruto was in his pajamas too, you realized, decked in a white t shirt and orange sweats. You turned from him, walking slowly to your bed, doing your best not to make any noise. “You have to leave before my parents are up, okay?” You whispered as you climbed back into your bed.
Naruto nodded enthusiastically, following after you. “I will, believe it!” He said a little too loudly for someone that wasn’t supposed to be there. You shot him a look, though you couldn’t help but smile.
Climbing into the bed after you, Naruto got comfortable under the covers, and the two of you laid next to each other silently. Staring at the ceiling, you wondered if Naruto could hear the sound of your heartbeat as it rang in your ears. This was fine. This was normal for two best friends.
You weren’t sure how long you laid there, more awake than you had been before. You closed your eyes, doing your best to get some rest and failing miserably. You were too aware of Naruto’s presence beside you. He seemed to have fallen asleep long ago if his rhythmic breathing was anything to go by.
And then, suddenly, you felt him rolling over. His hand reached out in the darkness, finding you and pulling you flush against his chest. His arms wrapped around you, holding you to him before his body went still again. You froze, looking up at his face. Was he awake? Had he meant to do that? It was impossible to tell with his eyes screwed shut.
You felt alive, truly alive, for the first time in your life. Nothing had ever felt so right.
The next morning, as promised, Naruto was back out the window before your parents woke up. The two of you had stayed in that position all night, and when Naruto began to shift awake, he looked at you with a shy, lopsided smile. All he said was a quiet “good morning” before he was sneaking out.
And there was no way to hide now that things had definitely changed. It was unspoken, but you both knew it. Neither of you knew what to say about it, didn’t know if you even should say anything about it. It wasn’t bad. It was good, better than good, but so new and unexplored for the both of you that you didn’t know how to approach the subject, so you said nothing about it.
It became a regular occurrence for Naruto to climb through your window every night to sleep in your bed. Each time he did, it became easier for Naruto to pull you into him as he fell asleep, and every morning when he left, you wondered how you had ever slept without Naruto’s arms around you.
All of your friends noticed the change between you and Naruto too, though no one said anything. They all exchanged curious glances with each other, seeing how easily Naruto touched you now and the way the two of you looked at each other just a little bit longer than you used to. But no one knew about your and Naruto’s extended sleepover, and so they all whispered among themselves, but said nothing about it to your faces.
When your parents decided to move back to the village that you had been born in, they gave you the option to stay in the leaf. You were only sixteen, but you were a ninja afterall. You were more than capable of making your own choices and taking care of yourself.
And of course you stayed. This was where your life was, where your friends were. Even more importantly, this was where Naruto was.
So when you told him your predicament, that you needed to find a new place to stay, he didn’t hesitate in offering to stay with him. You were sitting at his kitchen table when he said it, and he immediately began pushing things around the small apartment. “You see? We can put your bed here, and can move this over here…” He motioned to the space he had created. “It may be a little cramped, but at least until you can find something else?”
Of course your friends teased the two of you about your new living arrangements. Never when you were together. Everyone was insistent, desperate to be the one that got one of you to cave and admit your feelings for each other. For your part, you just smiled and said, “He’s my best friend.”
And that flew for a while. The same people that had been sure you and Naruto were meant to be began to wonder if they had it wrong all along, began to wonder if you and Naruto truly were just friends.
They didn’t know that you never got around to getting your own bed at Naruto’s house. That first night, you just shared his bed because you’d been doing it for so long. The same thing happened the next night, and the night after that, and the thought of getting a separate bed just didn’t seem that important. And anyways, you’d gotten used to sleeping by Naruto’s side. Naruto knew that if you got your own bed, he would just climb into yours every night.
You were only sixteen, but Naruto wanted nothing more than to spend every night by your side. He couldn’t remember a time in his life where he’d ever been so happy. There was so much on his mind all the time, the oncoming war, getting Sasuke back. And even with the chaos surrounding him, Naruto was at peace because of you. He had a confidence that everything would work out okay. He couldn’t imagine a scenario in which it wouldn’t.
It was the first time that Sakura and Ino had stopped by since you’d moved in that it was pointed out how unconventional your arrangement was. Sure, you both knew it wasn’t exactly normal, but it worked for the two of you. You didn’t see any harm in it.
Naruto was away on a mission when the girls had stopped by, needing to borrow something. When you let them in, they excitedly looked around the small studio apartment, wanting to see if and how you had changed Naruto’s place.
“Uh, where’s the other bed?” Sakura asked as you closed a cupboard, pulling out the tupperware they needed.
“Hm?” You asked, placing it on the table. “Oh, I haven’t gotten one yet. We usually just share.” You said it as if it were the most normal thing in the world. You’d shared your bed with Naruto so long, it no longer embarrassed you. You’d just never had a reason to mention it.
Sakura and Ino’s jaws dropped. They looked from you to each other, wondering if you were serious. You picked up on their shock, looking back at them sheepishly. “What?” You mumbled, feeling your face heating up.
“Are you guys, like, dating?” Ino placed her hand on her hip, looking at you expectedly. You shook your head.
“No, of course not. He’s my best friend! I just haven’t gotten my own bed yet. It’s not a big deal.”
“Not a big deal!?” Sakura exclaimed. “It’s a huge deal! You guys live together, share a bed together… you’re practically married!”
Ino nodded in agreement. “Sakura’s right. That’s a weird thing for two ‘best friends’ to be doing. It’s not normal.”
Sakura and Ino’s words rang through your head all day after they’d gone. Was it that weird? Sure, the whole thing had been nerve wracking at first, but now it was just part of your dynamic like everything else was. Of course you still harbored your feelings for Naruto, but you’d pushed them deep down, pretending they weren’t there in a bid to save your and Naruto’s friendship.
You were already in bed when he got back from his mission that night. He threw open the door, dropping his bag and sighing loudly. “Are you awake?” He called as he made his way to the bathroom.
“I am now,” You laughed, rolling your eyes as you heard the shower start. You yawned, your body tired despite how awake your mind was. It was a while longer before Naruto was finally ready to settle in for the night.
With a loud yawn, he dropped down on the bed beside you, stretching. “I missed this,” he said, turning over as he pulled the blankets over the two of you. He reached for you instinctively, a happy sigh leaving his lips as you cuddled into his chest.
But Naruto knew you better than anyone, and he could tell something was on your mind. “Everything okay?” He murmured against your hair, moments from falling asleep.
“Is this weird?” You asked him timidly, afraid to hear his answer.
Naruto froze for a moment before pulling away slightly, just enough so he could look down at you. “Is what weird?” He asked back slowly.
You shrugged. “Sakura and Ino stopped by today. They saw we share a bed and… I don’t know. They said it wasn’t normal.” You were afraid to voice the thought, but you couldn’t help it. The seed had been planted, and it wouldn’t stop growing.
But Naruto just rolled his eyes in response. “You’re gonna listen to them?” He asked with a small laugh. “What do they know about normal?”
“They said it was only normal for people that were, like, in a relationship. Not people that were just friends…”
Naruto was quiet, and you could tell he was mulling over the information, no doubt wondering--much like you were--if they had a point. He pulled away even more, and you could see in the moonlight that he was blushing. “Are we just friends?”
The words hit you like a freight train, knocking the breath straight from your lungs. You weren’t ready for this conversation. Things had been going so well, you’d been so happy and comfortable. You weren’t ready for things between you and Naruto to change, not yet. But now you didn’t have a choice.
“Do you want to be?” You whispered back.
The silence lingered, heavy and suffocating. You felt ready to cry. You loved Naruto. You didn’t want to keep it a secret any longer, but you didn’t want to lose him either. If he didn’t feel the same way… You didn’t know what you’d do. You couldn’t think of anything any more devastating.
Reluctantly, you brought your eyes up to meet Naruto’s brilliant blue ones. They were staring earnestly into yours, searching for an answer to a question he hadn’t yet asked. Slowly, shakily, he brought his hand up to your face, brushing your hair back. His touch was soft, barely there, and it sent shivers up your spine.
Finally, he leaned in to you, bringing his lips to brush against yours in a sweet, shy kiss. The motion was unsure, nervous. He’d been dying to do that for months now, and he had no idea how you would react.
Naruto’s kiss sent your head reeling. You’d always thought that kissing Naruto would send your heart racing, but instead it slowed, calming every nerve in your body.
When Naruto pulled away, he was wearing a grin that matched yours. “I’ve wanted to do that for so long…” He told you, stroking your cheek. You could only smile in response, pulling him in to kiss you once more
Naruto had gone his whole life touch starved and alone. Affection was so scarce, he hadn’t even known what he was missing.
Sharing a bed, sleeping next to you, kissing you goodnight. It wasn’t scary or unsure.
It felt like coming home.

Lord Barnes’ mood did not improve in the days leading up to the first of the tournament. It grew colder in the capital and many feared the events would be cut short by an early winter. You didn’t care much either way. You had no interest in the sport or much of anything. You just abided the duke and in those times he left you alone, you laid in a void.
His want of you didn’t wane nor did your despair or the disgust you felt when he touched you. It was one thing to be a servant, to be a tool, a means to an end, but what he used you for now seemed little more than torture. He delighted in what he did, in how he made you suffer. Those times you remained unmoving and unfeeling angered him the most.
You dressed in yellow that morning. The horns announced the beginning of the tournament as you made your way to the stand amid the sea of guests. The wives, daughters, sons, mothers and fathers of those who would compete. You were out of place as you climbed the wooden steps between the benches and a green sleeve shot up to wave to you.
“Dearie!” May brushed past her husband to stop you at the end of their seat, “here, with us,” she insisted, “we did save you a place.”
“Oh, you didn’t have to do that,” you said quietly. You hadn’t seen her or her family since the night of the feast. Since Barnes had…
“I can’t have you sitting alone,” she trilled as she pulled you along with her and sat beside Lord Benjamin who bowed his head and issued a gentle greeting. “And I always longed for a daughter, you know? Peter’s a good boy but so troublesome. I did try to persuade him not to enter the lists but he just never stops.”
“The boy’s old enough,” Benjamin said, “when I was his age--”
“You married me,” May cut in, “a foolish decision indeed. He is on the roster for today. Sparring. I fear he might not make it past the early rounds but so long as he is not hurt.”
You nodded and covered your hands in your sleeves. Even with the fur-trimmed cloak Barnes allotted you, it was crisp. Your matching cap barely kept the cool air from your cheeks. Your leg shook from more than the cold as you recalled that Barnes was set to compete with the sword as well.
“A fine cape,” May commented as she touched the edge of your cloak, “with sleeves even.”
You looked down at the fawn-coloured garment that only allowed a peek of the canary yellow beneath. You fidgeted and kept your eyes on the field, “a gift,” you lied, well, maybe it wasn’t a lie, or maybe you’d bought it in sweat and tears.
Another horn blew and she quieted and clapped as all looked to the center of the arena. The wooden stands were hung in all shades of silk, the banners of each house, high and low, covered the rafters. By the end of the day, only one would remain. Lord Barnes’ blue and ivory flapped opposite your side and Benjamin pointed out his family's slender red and black crest amidst the panoply.
You were thankful for the distraction, not for you but for them. You didn’t know how many lies you could conjure or if you could keep the false smile on your lips. You clamped your hands together and watched a man in gold stroll out to the centre of the stadium with a cone to project his voice. You stood with May and Benjamin and the rest of the onlookers
“Fine ladies and gentlemen, princes, paupers, and everything in between, we welcome you in name of King Samuel to the Games of Goblets. For each competition, the victor is to be prized a goblet to bear as a symbol of his prestige. For the ax-throwing, bronze inlaid with amber, for the bow-and-arrow, silver set with citrine, for the melee, gold set with sapphire, and for the joust, a fine piece in gold set with opal and ruby.”
The crowd applauded and shouted. The man waited for them to quiet again, “This day, we begin with the melee, on the morrow, the axe, the next day, the arrow, and on the final day, we ride!”
Again, the audience grew rowdy and you were deafened by the cheers. The man laughed at the excitement and held up his hand for a final lull.
“Without further delay, let us begin. In our first round, the lower lords and the untested, before the second where they shall meet our season veterans, and so on…” he gauged the fervent tension of the people, “you will see me again upon the finale and perhaps you will be surprised by whoever stands with me.”
Again, the stand quaked with the energy of the people. You would have liked to sit but you stayed on your feet, afraid to draw unwanted attention. The first pair was announced but you didn’t watch. You stared at the sky or a rippling banner but had no interest in the games.
You only stopped to look as Peter’s name was called out and May grabbed your arm. She squealed as her nephew came out decked in his used armor, beaten out from its former user’s wear, and he unsheathed his sword to face his opponent. When the handkerchief was dropped, you were as stunned as his fellow competitor and the crowd by his swiftness. You’d never seen anyone move so fast, and in at least twenty pounds of armor.
The crowd awoke from their awe and cheered as his sword beat against the other man’s suit with tinks and tunks. It was like a bell, ding, ding, ding. It wasn’t until the other man was on his knees that the spar was ceased. Peter was declared the plain winner and sent on to wait for his next engagement. May wiped away tears of joy and Benjamin grumbled his approval.
You smiled, just a little. You were happy for Peter. You’d seen how joyful he was, he was likely dancing behind the curtain right now.
🏰
It wasn’t until the second round that Lord Barnes was introduced. He walked out fully armoured like any other combatant but his left arm was permanently bent, a shield strapped to it as he gripped his pommel in his right hand. He showed his steel and faced his match. He dealt hard and heavy blows until his opponent was on his back.
You shuddered at his unboasting victory as he wasn’t even patient enough to hear himself declared the winner. You touched your cold cheeks and puffed into the bitter air. The bodies around you warmed the stands but you were chilled to the core.
Peter appeared again in the second, then the third, fourth, and to his aunt and uncle’s delight, he soldiered onto the final. To your fear, he was to meet Lord Barnes. You tried not to squirm, not to show how nervous you were for Peter. You thought of running down and begging him to withdraw but what could you say? If anything, you’d both be worse for it.
As the last two banners were presented to the crowd, you sensed movement to your right. A familiar head of blond hair approached and the tall duke pushed past the row of people along the bench. Lord Rogers smirked as he came close, his sweaty hair drooping down his forehead from his last bout, the one he’d lost to his closest friend.
“Ah, I found you,” he said, “lady.”
You felt May peek past you and you gave a meek “my lord” as he stood close. He looked around you at the older couple.
“You have friends,” he stated, “please, do introduce us.”
You looked down and chewed your lip. You turned slowly to May and Benjamin, the latter peering past her only as he was torn from his fixation on the field.
“Lord Benjamin and Lady May Parker, baron and baroness,” you rubbed your hands together nervously, “Lord Steven Rogers, duke of Astrens.”
“Oh, we’ve heard of him,” May chirped, “my lord, it is an honour.”
“Indeed,” Benjamin agreed, “my lady, you did not inform of us of your lofty friends.”
“She is modest,” Rogers intoned, “we met by chance, really, through a common acquaintance.”
“You were skillful on the field, it is a pity you were bested,” May said.
“Very pitiful, I did put some gold on you, Lord Rogers,” Benjamin added, “alas it was a fine showing.”
“Wasn’t it?” he turned to stand with his arm pressed to yours, much too close for your liking, “however this one should be intriguing.”
“It’s our boy,” Benjamin said, “and your friend, my lord.”
“Perhaps you’d take another bet?” Rogers countered.
“I’ve lost enough this day,” Benjamin snorted, “I’d rather watch and be pleasantly surprised than paupered.”
“Prudence is wise but always so boring,” Rogers mused.
As the lower of the lords, Parker was announced first and you were saved from more uncomfortable banter by the man in grey. Rogers nudged you and bent as the introductions went long as the man with cone went into detail about the day’s fights all the way to the present match.
“I did look fine out there, didn’t I?” he whispered, “good form, even if I did lose. Barnes is in a mood and we both know that makes him… unpredictable.”
You lowered your head, “my lord.”
“You are quiet since last we met,” he remarked, “perhaps your thoughts linger on how else to use your mouth?”
You squirmed and stared at the competitors as they awaited their signal. Rogers laughed and stood straight as he focused on the field in kind. He played with your sleeve and tugged your arm down. He caressed the back of your hand and stepped even closer.
“When he wins, he might just be cheerful enough to share in his celebrations, hmm?” he said under his breath.
The gold cloth was dropped and the two men circled each other, eyeing their opponent cautiously. Barnes was the first to act but was evaded by the younger man. He didn’t not falter however as he swung again. Peter rolled under the strike and met it with his own steel, batting it away so that it nearly struck its holder.
Barnes dodged that time, then the boy spun again. They danced around each other, both swift, both calculating, both determined. Steel met steel but never that which clothed the fighters. May grabbed your other wrist as she held her breath.
Barnes laid a hit across Peter’s chestplate that made him stagger but he turned it into another lithe evasion. He snaked around the higher lord and hammered his false arm. The shield cracked in half and Peter ducked again.
Barnes was angry as he stabbed out. His blade was shoved away again and Peter jumped over the foot that tried to trip him up, a true achievement in armor.
You realised as Barnes laid a flurry of blows at the air that he was angry. The crowd silenced as the realisation fell over them and they watched as time seemed to slow. The duke was losing and he was enraged.
Peter jabbed the other man’s chest plated with his sword then hit his true arm. The sword bobbled in Barnes’ grip but he regained his hold on it. Too slow as Parker struck over and over, throwing him off balance, and sweeping him off his feet with a low lunge.
As Barnes clattered onto his back, the breath went out of him and every other person in the stadium. The man in grey shook away his shock and finally stepped forward.
“Our victor!” he grabbed Peter’s arm and raised it, “the Lord Parker!”
May hopped up and down and hugged her husband. Steve tutted and shook his head. Your eyes clung to Barnes as he sat up, forgotten in the dirt. His left arm was stuck at an angle away from his body and he reached up to force it back down.
Peter offered him his hand and was ignored. Barnes sheathed his sword and offered a curt bow before he exited. Rogers’ hand crawled up your arm and he gripped you. “Well, looks like we both will suffer his loss.”
For once, he spoke the truth.

It felt like coming home.

hey! can you write one where harry invites y/n and his band mates out for drinks and they try to hand her a drink but she reveals she previously by saying like “you can’t drink when your pregnant” ...
Word Count: 2.3k
A/N: I combined this one with a request for where Harry constantly refers to Y/N as his “ex-girlfriend,” because they’re engaged now. ((Super cute. Super corny. Makes my heart mush. Anyway.)) Kinda short but still sweet. I hope you enjoy it nonetheless! Take care and TPWK.
Tumblr media
“There she is!”
His voice is drowned out by clanking glasses and the heavy bass of whatever rock song was playing through the shitty speakers in the corner of the room, but it was unmistakable nonetheless. Followed by his “greeting” were the shouts and howls of the rest of the bunch, most of them raising their glass in honor of her (late) arrival.
“My ex-girlfriend!”
Harry, despite his inebriated state, smiled widely and welcomed her as protectively as he always had in the past few weeks - relieving her person of any bags or extra weight, this time being her coat and purse which he hung on the brass hooks underneath the bar table, and inspecting her facial expression for any signs of discontent or worry. He couldn’t pinpoint the exact moment when he kicked his “dad-mode,” tendencies into overdrive, but it certainly began on that rainy, Thursday night in their shared bathroom as they sat against the wall of the bathtub with four positive pregnancy tests in both of their hands.
“Really wish you’d stop calling me that, Har,” she sneered as he helped her shake her arms loose from her coat.
“One of these days you’re gonna cause a scene.”
“'S true, though,” the drunken boy giggled.
“You’re not m’ girlfriend anymore. You’re my fiance.”
She shook her head and rolled her eyes at his antics, intending to pull him in for a quick hug and kiss when her attention was drawn away from her curly-headed brunette and towards the man of the hour.
“Y/N!”
“Hello, birthday boy,” her voice was mellow against the drunken slur that had started to take over her friend, Mitch’s.
“‘S not very nice of you to be late to my party,” he slurred as he pulled her in rather harshly for a bone-crushing hug.
“Sorry, got caught up with some work stuff,” Y/N managed to get out through a chuckle in between Mitch’s squeezing.
She saw Harry stiffen out of the corner of her eye, like he was torn between yelling something akin to, “Take it easy on her, mate. She’s pregnant for christ’s sake,” or letting the interaction play out. He knew he wasn’t allowed to do the former, as they’d agreed to wait until they could have all of their friends and family over at the same time to tell them the good great news, so Harry opted to let Mitch hug her extra tight despite his unrealistic, dramatic worries that he’d crush her fragile frame or hurt the baby in some way. She made sure to send a reassuring smile Harry’s way when Mitch let her go from his grasp.
Short and sweet was her greeting to Sarah, both of them opting to kiss one another on the cheek.
“Let me see it one more time,” her voice was quiet amongst the chatter of the bar, almost sounding like a whisper.
Y/N felt the heat climbing to her cheeks as she let Sarah take her hand in hers to examine the ring on her fourth finger. The band was gold and slim, adorned with a dainty yet sizeable single diamond in the very center.
“So pretty,” she gushed, admiring the way the gem flittered, even in the dim, tungsten-glow of the bar.
Y/N muttered a quiet “thank you,” before making her away back to the other side of the table where Harry was waiting for her with an outstretched arm, yearning to get back to what they had been doing before Y/N had to make her rounds.
As he wrapped his arms around her shoulders, Y/N caught wind of the tequila on his breath. She tasted it too, when she pecked his lips quickly and - oh god, did she taste stout as well? Maybe she’d end up taking care of him later tonight when his head was stuck in the toilet, but that seemed plenty fair considering how often Harry had been doing the same exact thing for her here lately.
“Yeh alright? Had me all worried when ya said you’d be late,” Harry’s question was asked lowly so that only she could hear.
Harry had been with Mitch and Sarah all day celebrating, hence this was the first time he’d seen Y/N since this morning when he kissed her and sent her off to work.
Y/N nodded and smiled, though her face led Harry to believe differently.
“Got sick when I got home from the office. Just took me a little bit longer to get out the door,” she shrugged, insinuating that it wasn’t a big deal, but that she wasn’t feeling one hundred percent ready-to-party either.
“Baby,” Harry half-scolded her, feeling a good portion of his buzz leave his body when Y/N mentioned that she hadn’t felt well.
“Why didn’t yeh just tell me you were sick? Coulda came home and sat with you.”
“I wasn’t going to ask you to ditch your best friend’s birthday dinner just because I was throwing up for the fifteenth time this week,” she was stern in her words and made it clear that she was fine.
“I’m alright. I promise.”
Harry’s jaw softened at her proclamation, the muscles in his torso easing up from their tense position.
“Oi! Will you two stop whispering and get drunk with me?!” Mitch shouted across the table, bursting the bubble that had temporarily surrounded the couple whilst they talked about their sweet little secret that they were dying to tell everyone about.
“You,” Mitch pointed his finger towards Y/N’s head.
“Shots. Now,” he gestured to the bartender making drinks on the opposite end of where their table was.
Both Y/N and Harry chuckled nervously, unsure of how to work around the fact that Y/N couldn’t drink without spilling the beans.
“Think I need to get some food in my stomach before I do that. Why don’t you take Harry,” Y/N urged Harry forward by his shoulder and prayed it would be enough to entertain the drunk boy.
“Fine,” Mitch glared.
“It’ll just make it hard for you to catch up later then!”
He grabbed Harry by the bicep and cleared through the crowd of people in order to get his liquor he was so keen about.
The conversation with Sarah was light, mostly about what all they’d done today and bets on if Mitch would end up needing to be babied for the rest of the night. Y/N successfully dodged Sarah’s questions about the wedding and how planning was going along, chalking it up to busy work schedules and failing to come to an agreement on a venue and date.
“Harry’s dead set on a summer wedding, but I’m fighting for a winter date,” she dismissed through a nervous chuckle when the reality was that they were unsure how to navigate planning a wedding around the arrival of their baby to make any more decisions.
It seemed like ages passed before the two men returned. Y/N was picking at the fries and sipping on the ginger ale Harry had ordered her before she’d gotten there but was interrupted when Harry and Mitch came barrelling back to the table.
He was drunk. Quite drunk. And Y/N knew that because his body felt even warmer and his eyes looked even hazier than before he’d left. She imagined they definitely had more than once shot at the bar, but she didn’t have much time to ponder that before she felt his hands snake around her waist and rest on her hips. She reciprocated his touch, looping her arms around his shoulders and laying her head against his chest.
“Love you,” Harry muttered into the soft spot between her jaw and ear, then his hands wormed their way under her shirt to rest on the underside of her tummy.
“Love you too,” he said again.
She could feel him smile against her skin as he cradled her almost non-existent baby bump from underneath her oversized sweater. Harry was the only one who saw her regularly enough to notice the minute changes her body had been going through. To everyone else, she still looked like plain, old Y/N.
“We love you more, but if you don’t stop canoodling me in the middle of this bar,” Y/N began, speaking light-heartedly and quietly in his ear, “Everyone’s going to find out and you won’t get to have that announcement party you’ve been planning for weeks now.”
Harry sighed, knowing she was right, and loosened his hold on her tummy and opting to sling an arm over her shoulder to at least keep her close instead.
“I know what you’re up to,” Mitch glared at the two of them from across the table.
This gained the attention of not only Y/N and Harry but Sarah as well. Everyone turned to look at Mitch, anticipating what he was going to say next.
“And what would that be, Mitchy?” Y/N toyed.
A pout formed on his face, arms quickly crossed his chest as he huffed.
“You’re trying to get out of here and leave me all alone on my birthday.”
“Guess I’m not even here then. I’m a hallucination,” Sarah baited with a roll of her eyes.
“We’re not trying t’ leave ya, mate. Promise,” Harry stuck his pinky out across the table as a gesture of sincerity.
“Are too.”
Mitch’s drunken rambles were beginning to sound quite childish now and became more amusing by the second.
“Are not, honey bun,” Y/N requited.
“Liars. Both of you.”
Mitch launched a bunched up straw wrapper in Harry’s direction that bounced off of his most prominent curl and landed somewhere near his feet.
“Where would we even go, hmm?” Harry taunted, resting his chin on the knuckles of his free hand that was leaned against the table.
“What could we possibly planned tha’ would be better than spending time with you lot on your birthday?”
They watched as Mitch’s remaining sobriety fought hard for an answer, but ultimately giving into his drunkness and murmuring, “Don’t know! Probably going off to screw each other or something!”
The table burst into laughter, and Y/N hid her face in Harry’s chest out of embarrassment.
“Wouldn’t surprise me actually,” Sarah quipped before taking a huge sip of her cocktail.
“Look. Here’s the deal,” Mitch tried his best in his drunken stupor to be serious.
“Prove to me that you’re not gonna leave me and take another shot.”
“Fine,” Harry shrugged.
“Let’s go back t’ the bar then.”
He started to pull Mitch along but was stopped suddenly.
“No,” Mitch was quick to intervene.
“Y/N too. If you both drink, you can’t drive home and leave me,” he said proudly as if his idea was the smartest thing he’d ever come up with.
She knew it was only Mitch being sloppy drunk and acting like the idiot he always was, but Y/N couldn’t help but feel her palms begin to sweat. They couldn’t tell Mitch the real reason why she couldn’t drink with the group tonight, so she was quickly wracking her brain for another excuse now that she’d filled her belly with french fries since giving her last one.
But there was no need to think any further, as Harry stepped in for her.
“She can’t do tha’, mate. Now, c’mon. Let’s get some more tequila. Looks like Sarah needs another drink as well, hmm?”
Harry pinched his nose in annoyance. He was trying his hardest to keep this all under wraps, but Mitch was making it extremely difficult.
“Who are you? Her keeper? Telling her what she can and can’t do?” Mitch yelled.
“No, you nunce. She can’t drink because yeh can’t drink when you’re pregn-”
Fuck.
Harry clapped his hand over his mouth before he finished his sentence, but it was too late. He wasn’t sure what he was thinking when he said it. Wasn’t even sure if he was thinking at all, to be completely honest. He silently prayed that neither Mitch nor Sarah heard him, but he quickly realized that was untrue when they both stared between him and Y/N with wide eyes.
“Y/N L/N. Are you pregnant?” Sarah was the first to speak up.
Y/N felt like she was stuck in place, only able to look at Harry with a racing chest and her mouth agape.
“I, um, I - yes?” It came out as more of a question due to her state of shock.
“I’m so fuckin’ sorry. Holy shit,” Harry exclaimed as he went back to Y/N’s side to console her.
He was spiraling in fear that Y/N was angry with him, but it was mostly the alcohol making him think so.
“You’re having a baby?” Mitch’s voice was unusually quiet for how loudly he had been yelling just moments ago.
“Yeah. We are,” she was laughing nervously as she spoke.
“Sorry that Harry ruined the surprise. We wanted to have a big party and tell everyone at the same time, but I guess the cat’s out of the bag for you guys.”
She rubbed Harry’s back with her palm, a silent reassurance for Harry that she wasn’t upset with him. Mitch and Sarah, however, they couldn’t read.
Mitch said nothing, only leaving his position beside Sarah to go stand in between Y/N and Harry. He looked at them both with an expression that resembled both anger and confusion, which only added to their discomfort.
In a split second, he had his arms around both of them, hugging them tightly.
“Holy shit! This is the best birthday present ever. Uncle Mitch and Aunt Sarah. What the fuck?!” he was rambling now, beaming from ear to ear as he ran over to pull Sarah, who was also losing her shit, just in her own seat and not on top of Harry and Y/N, into the group hug.
Their eyes caught each other in the midst of the friend-sandwich they were being forced to be a part of. A smile and knowing look were exchanged between them and they knew, despite it not coming out in the most fashionable way, their precious little bub would be surrounded by people that loved them dearly.

Tumblr media
the sun was setting as you walked out the front doors of your dormitory, closing them behind you. hearing your phone quietly ring, you pulled it out from the waistband of your skirt.
‘hello’
babe, are you guys almost here? games about to start and the other girls need historia
‘leaving now, hist just got here’
alright, if i can’t catch you before it starts we’re still on for dinner... right?
‘yeah of course. good luck reiner, win one for me.’
your life right now made you feel like you were in some cliche romcom. dating the college football superstar, best friends with the head cheerleader, all the cliches made you feel like you were still in high school. historia has been your best friend since birth, so of course the two of you hadn’t split up entering college. she had the cheer scholarship, you had the brains to get in with an application. you met reiner through mutual friends, but you couldn’t figure out why he fell for someone like you. usually, in the movies, the hot popular guy falls in love with the hot popular girl... but that wasn’t you, it was more like your best friend. you were more laid back, just wanting to get your degree.
your relationship with reiner was... slow, to say the least. it’s almost the end of your freshman year of college and he seems to be more focused on football than you. but you don’t blame him, he just wants to be successful with his passion. you do hate the fact that you have to take care of yourself all the time. he’s never able to stay the night, as he has training early in the morning. sometimes you wish that he could just be more available to you.
running out down the small path, you stopped in front of a car full of people. this was the way all friday nights were. you were picked up by a jammed pack car holding historia and a bunch of other people, before driving off to the football field. opening the car, it was really full tonight.
“you’re gonna have to sit on someone’s lap, just for the ride” jean said with a grim smirk on his face
“hist you’re tiny, sit on ymir’s lap”
ymir of course not having a problem, pulled the small blonde into her lap with a grin on her face. you then hopped into the car, taking historia’s previous spot.
arriving at the field, historia had to run off to her team and get a lecture by the coach on why she has to stop being so late. after giving her a hug for good luck, you wandered off to the concession stands.
“just a pretzel, please”
receiving your snack, you were about to walk over to the bleachers until you heard your name being called over the short fence.
“Y/N!”
letting out a sigh, you ran over to the voice calling you over.
“quiet down, unnecessary attention.”
lifting his helmet off, he used his large hands to pull your head into his, capturing his lips with yours.
“and? ya look pretty tonight, what if i want people to see my gorgeous little girlfriend.”
“don’t you have a game to play, tough guy?”
talking to your boyfriend, you felt like someone was piercing into the back of your head. people were probably watching the two of you, but no... that wasn’t the feeling. it felt like one person had their eyes glued to you. saying goodbye to your boyfriend, you started to walk over to the bleachers. they were packed with people and you had no one to sit with. your eyes started to scan looking for either bertholdt or colt, two quiet boys you seemed to get along well with.
bertholdt was reiner’s best friend. you noticed him the first time you met everyone. he was always following reiner around like a lost puppy, but reiner seemed to love his presence. when you and reiner started dating, he left you guys alone most the time, but he’s still was always around. colt you also met through reiner, on campus. you really strengthened your friendship after visiting reiners hometown over mid-winter break. while you and reiner were babysitting his cousin, her best friend tagged along, who was the little brother of colt.
you were getting a little nervous until you heard someone call your name and wave you over. jean kirstein, from the car. jean pissed you off on so many levels, but he also made you feel safe in a way. running over to where he was, you took a seat in between him and his best friend.
“hey marco! kirstein.”
“ouch... you’re so cold sometimes, y/n”
jean always had to make a dramatic comment no matter what the situation was. settling into your seat, you stayed quiet for the most part after that. the game was close to being over when you got up from your spot.
“gonna use the bathroom, ill be right back.”
you didn’t actually have to pee, just needed a moment away from the screaming and loud noises. running towards the extra, empty parking lot. you felt someone grab your arm, dragging you into the darkness. about to scream, you felt a hand cover your mouth.
“shhh, its just me.”
wiggling out of his grip, you pushed him into the brick wall. he let out a chuckle, surprised you could shove him like that.
“you dipshit, i thought i was getting kidnapped.”
you felt rough hands pull you by the waist into his chest.
“yeah well anyone would want to get their hands on a pretty girl like you, i’ve warned you about wandering at night by yourself... haven’t i?”
“touché, jaeger”
his slender fingers found their way up your thighs and under your skirt, teasing the hem of your panties.
“not here jaeger, i have to get back to-”
“back to the boyfriend, yeah.” - he didn't stop though, he snuck his hand down to make contact with your clit, rubbing small, soft circles around it. “remember our agreement though? if you want, i can break it... show everyone your-”
“fine. make it quick.”
“you don't make the rules here, ill take as much time as i need.”
eren jaeger was popular around campus, not in the same way as reiner though. he wasn't some big shot blonde football player, just well known for being a jackass. his reputation started in the beginning of the year. he was a pretty low-key guy, just down to fuck almost anyone who asked. but then he'd just break their hearts, but girls always still tried getting him to fall for them.
he released your skirt and pushed you back up against the wall. as you both switched positions, you could see the faint red in his eyes, pulled out by the street light.
his lips found yours, roughly shoving his tongue into your mouth. once he felt that was enough, he flipped you over on the wall. to avoid scraping your face or getting your shirt dirty, you pushed your hands up onto the wall. you heard the familiar unbuckle of eren’s belt, and the shuffling of him trying to free his erect cock.
brining his hand in front of your mouth, he cupped it a bit. knowing what he wanted you to do, you spit right into it twice. he then brought his hand back and lathered his cock with your saliva. pulling the bottom of your skirt up to your waist, he pushed your panties to the side before slowly sliding himself into you.
not bothering to care about the stinging you might've been feeling, he brought himself back out before slamming right back in. repeating and repeating, going at a roughly fast pace.
“‘ren sl-... slow down.”
“shut up, whore. you should... fuck- should know your place by now.”
letting out a whimper, you felt your fingertips push so hard into the wall, bound to leave a scratch. you then had them peeled off the concrete wall, as eren pulled both of you backwards. pulling out, he spun you around and pushed you back up onto the wall.
he brought your thigh up to meet his hip, before thrusting himself back into you.
“your little pussy takes me so fuckin’ well”
clenching around him from his words, you let your head fall down onto his shoulder.
“want me to fill you u-”
he was cut off by the sound of your phone ringing. brining your head up, you went to go pull your phone out and hit decline... but eren beat you to it. he took your phone and hit accept, holding it up to your ear.
babe?
‘r-reiner!’
nice win, right?
‘y-yeah you were... you were amazing as always’
cuz i was thinkin’ of you. anyways i'm heading to the locker room, you with bert?
you felt yourself start to panic at the heat of the moment. you were on the phone with your boyfriend as you were getting pounded by the biggest dick on campus. he was ruthless. not bothering to slow down or stop, he just thrusted in harder and faster than before.
‘no actually-’ you were about to let out a moan but you covered it up with a cough ‘just i-in... the bath- the bathroom’
you okay?
‘yeah i’m... fine, 'm fine. ill see you in a few’
alright, love you
‘i love, love you too.’
right when you hung up you choked out a load moan that's been building up. without warning, eren came and shot right up inside you. of course he wouldn't make you cum at a scene like this.
pulling out, he pushed the seeping cum back up with his fingers, before pulling your panties back in place and fixing your skirt.
“now go hangout with your boyfriend while your full of my cum.”
“eren-”
he turned you around back out of the darkness and playfully smacked your ass before giving your back a little push.
“i promise i’ll make it up to you, now run along like a good girl.”
giving him a frown, you made your way to the exit of the locker room. you stood there waiting for reiner, clenching your thighs together.
dinner with reiner was sweeter than usual. most times after a game you were dragged to a loud diner with all his friends, forced to hangout with them. but tonight, reiner just wanted it to be you and him. nothing special though, just a quick food joint. walking back to your dorm, you felt the guilt build up in your chest like it always did.
arriving at the front door of your single-person dorm, reiner pulled you into a soft, sweet kiss.
“practice is canceled tomorrow, i can stay for once.”
of course, the one night you're stuffed to the brim with another man’s cum.
opening the door, you let him in. the two of you laid kissing on the bed, before he tried sneaking his hand up your skirt.
you felt yourself start to internally freak out. if he were to finger you right now, he'd just be met with a load of cum.
“i-im on my period.”
reiner was always understanding, so of course he was in this position.
“ok, that's fine. we can just cuddle and watch a movie.”
“sounds good” after placing a kiss on his cheek, you got up to go put a pair of sweats on, before returning back to your bed.
he must've been worn out from the game, as he almost immediately fell asleep in your arms. you couldn’t help but feel guilty, thinking about eren. do you wish it was him laying in your arms right now? no. reiner is everything you could ever ask for. you knew he deserved the world, you don't want to hurt him like you are  now.
but you knew what would happen if you didn't give eren what he wanted.
and that'd be even worse.

“I wouldn’t mind your chunky cake”
“Y/n shut up!!!!!”he was so flustered that he tried covering his face and sprints to the kitchen.
After a while , you could smell the pancakes that made you more hungry that’s when you heard Kuroo call you.

Sakusa Kiyoomi:-
It was a lazy afternoon you and Omi were tangled in those fluffy blankets .
You got up from the bed to clean your home.
It was your Saturday ritual , laze around in the morning  have a brunch and then take a nap on your bed and after that nap, you guys would start cleaning your house.
After completing with cleaning , you take a quick shower so that you could bake some cookies after all the hard work .
You were making some cookies whereas Sakusa was kneading the dough for the bread.
Looking at the dough  which Sakusa was kneading you thought about teasing Omi a bit.
“My cookie dough can you pass me the oven mitts?”
“Cookie dough?”
“Yeah? You didn’t like it? Let me try again.“
Sakusa passes you the oven mitts and you place the cookies in the oven.(You can obviously see that i can’t cook , maybe y/n can :(
“I am done here, love”
“Can you stir the pot please, my spatula”
Spatula? Sakusa literally did not understood why you were calling him such weird pet names.
“Anything else love?”
“Yeah could you please taste it and let me know is it missing salt, my honey butter biscuit?”
“What’s with your pet names? They are so weird, am I not your Omi?”
“Oh no you are my cheesecake!”
“Cheesecake?”Omi was kinda pouty because he did not understand why you were using such pet names for him.
“Stop pouting my huggy bear” you nudge his torso but Sakusa doesn’t look at you whatsoever.
“Since you are using those names for me , you are my Mask”
“Hey thats cute Omi!”
“How is it cute?”
“Because I am always around you , even when you are far away from me” you giggle and kiss his cheeks.
“Whatever” he was blushing.

Atsumu Miya:-
Atsumu had a day off ,he decided to sleep some more with you his arms.
You guys ordered some food and were sitting on the couch watching some rom/coms
Atsumu gets Suna’s call and he picks it up.
“Rin, why did ya call me?“
“Atsumu, its time.“
Atsumu realized what time it was , it was “GAMING WITH DA BOYS ”time!
And suna had called to remind him.
Atsumu looks towards you and watches you being so comfortable, he felt bad for asking but you always enjoyed watching him play some video games.
“Angel face, Rin called me to remind me to play games rn , should i ?”
“Sure , ‘Tsumu!”
Atsumu makes his way to his bedroom , setting up his gaming equipments.(Best feeling ever)
You bring some snacks along with water , because he would get thirsty with all the shouting.
He kisses your cheek and mouths a thank you and starts entering the custom room to play with DA BOYSSS.
Ahem....
You settle on the bed with your laptop on your hand and some snacks for you.
But you forgot to carry the banana milk that you kept in the fridge, you were cozied up and saw Atsumu was sitting ideally and was cursing.
You decided to ask him but by using some different pet names.
“Hey Muscleman”
He did not react at all.
“Chunky man?  Sexy pants? Tater tot? Foxy? Dumpling? my favourite twin?”
“’Tsumu, thats some weird pet names, also why are you so quite? didn’t i kill ya and took all your loots?”Suna teases him on the line.
“Hmm? what do you need sweetheart?”
“Um babycakes i forgot my banana milk, could you please get it for me?”
“Yes, anything for ya Angel face”
“SIMP!!!!” Osamu on the other line yells.
“CHUNKY MAN” suna joins in and teases him.
Atsumu was sure that his brother and friend would tease him to death.
But still didn’t change the fact that he is a simp for you <3.
