Jason settled in, legs draped over the edge of the building, and unwrapped sandwich enough to take a large bite. Next to him, Dick did the same.

They had gotten back into the habit slowly— in fits and starts and Jason turning down Dick’s gentle inquiry (plea, it was a plea) more often than not— but now, once a month at least, Red Hood and Nightwing could be found perched on a rooftop, sharing a meal. Chili dogs to burgers to sandwiches— anything that could be easily held, quickly eaten, and was open late to serve the night owls of Gotham.

Tonight it was bahn mi sandwiches from an amazing little Vietnamese place in Blüdhaven.

It was easier to take these moments in Blüdhaven.

Jason knew that tonight's ‘Big Brother Bonding Binge’ (Dick’s name for it), had been purposefully arranged. Nightwing would have had no issue handling that bust on his own. Jason wanted to resent it— Dick had been more a mother hen than usual since Jason had been ‘sick’— but Jason… Jason wanted someone to talk to.

Every since driving Danny out to the ocean, Jason had been thinking. His little revelation that he didn’t want to stop living… no, that he need to actively start living, had been rattling around in his brain. It was leading to all sorts of thoughts and plans that he didn’t know how to handle anymore.

It was still a struggle some days to think about the fact that he had a future to look forward to.

Jason could practically feel Dick vibrating with the need to ask next to him, so he threw his brother a bone. “I’ve… been thinking about going to college?”

He hadn’t meant it to come out like a question.

“Really?” Dick asked, perking up like a damn puppy. “That’s great Jay. Are you thinking Gotham U? What do you want to major in? Wait— do you’ll need a GED—”

“Got my GED as soon as I was officially back from the dead,” Jason said, cutting off Dick’s rambling. “I was… I mean, probably Gotham U eventually? I was thinking maybe just online classes first? There’s still days that…”

There were still days that Jason just couldn’t handle people very well or that the pain was too bad.

“Online classes sound like a great way to start,” Dick said. “Are you thinking about just doing gen eds then?”

“To start, yeah. But I was… I guess there are a few things I’m considering? Mostly thinking that I could maybe get something in social sciences that would be good for nonprofit work. I’ve been doing that stuff with the foundation, but I know I’m not really qualified to do a lot. And if I got a degree that could help out maybe.” Jason made himself take a breath. “Maybe I could do some real good as me and not just as Red Hood.”

“I know you could, little wing,” Dick said with one of his soft smiles; the type that always made Jason ache a little.

Jason elbowed him lightly, more to jostle him than to wound. Dick just laughed for Jason’s efforts.

“B is going to be ecstatic,” Dick said after polishing off the last bite of his sandwich.

“You mean insufferable,” Jason grumbled.

“Overenthusiastic,” Dick corrected. Jason gave in with a little shrug. “I’ll try to hold him back, but you know he just gets happy whenever he can do something for you.”

“You’re talking like I’m going to take his help.”

“You are— you’re smart enough not to wrack up that sort of debt when you can use B’s money instead.”

Jason sighed, exaggerating the sound so that the full effect would come through his respirator. There were still nights when he missed his helmet and the anonymity it provided, but the respirator, domino, and literal hood did make it easier to express himself when he wanted to. “Fine. But you getter try to make him tone it down.”

“Cross my heart,” Dick said, complete with the motion. “You’re best off telling him at a family dinner then.”

He had a point. “Next month then.”

“Or,” Dick said, drawing the word out as he leaned into Jason’s side. “You could come by sooner. You don’t have to only come once a month, Jay.”

“Wing,” Jason said, the name a sigh.

“Think about it. I promise to be there if you want to— and I’ll call in favors to get whoever else you want there too.”

Jason was a little touched despite himself. Favors were no small matter in the Wayne family. “Thanks—”

“Nightwing, Hood,” Oracle cut in across the comms.

Both vigilantes straightened up at her tone.

“Here,” Jason answered for both of. His voice roughened as he slipped back into being Red Hood. There was no room for Jason in a mission that had Oracle sounding that serious.

“Two-Face escaped from Arkham.”

Jason could sense Dick stop breathing next to him. Two-Face wasn’t Joker level, no one really was, but Two-Face was still Dick’s Joker. They had talked about it, one bad night— too cold and too haunted up on top of a bridge. Dick had spoken in hushed, short sentences— as it by saying the words quick enough and letting the frigid winter wind rip them away he could finally be free of it.

It didn’t work.

Nothing ever would.

Jason shifted just enough to press his knee against Dick’s. The forceful intake of breath the nudge caused was so sharp that it must have hurt.

Jason slammed the hidden door in the back of his closet closed as he shoved through it.

He had gotten through patrol.

Somehow, he had gotten through patrol while holding off the worst of the Pit Rage.

Now the green was crowding out most of his vision as he stalked into his apartment. He fisted a hand in his hair, yanking as he tried to ground himself. He should be able to get a handle on himself.

It shouldn’t be this bad.

Nothing happened.

Maybe it was worse that nothing had happened.

Every missed chance of catching up with Two-Face, every bust of his henchmen that went nowhere, every empty warehouse— Jason had been forced to watch Dick grow tenser and tenser. Jason had just wanted to take his big brother out of there— take him back to a safe house where Jason could protect him from everything.

But there was no protecting anyone from their own mind.

Jason knew that.

Jason knew that with every creeping flick of green on the edge of his vision.

He was helpless against it all: helpless to help Dick, helpless to stop this pain, helpless to stop his own—

No.

What he needed to stop was this… this spiraling. He was home.

No one knew he’d been fighting the Rage.

No one was in danger.

Da- Batman would be looking into Two-Face relentlessly.

Jason just had to look after himself, just for the moment.

Fuck he was such a failure.

No.

Stop that.

Stop stop stop.

Jason collapsed on his couch. He dragged the weighted blanket up over his shoulders. Fingers laced, shuddering, behind his neck Jason struggled to suck in a breath of air.

Another.

One more.

Just keep breathing.

Someone was knocking at his door.

The sound pulled Jason out of his haze and he blinked, listlessly. His world was sideways from where he had collapsed on the couch.

The knocking continued.

He ignored them.

“Jason?” Oh. It was Danny. He sounded panicked. “Come on Jason, if you don’t open up I’m coming in.”

No.

He couldn’t let Danny in.

If Danny got in, Jason could hurt him.

He couldn’t hurt Danny.

Jason surged to his feet, stumbling into his coffee table as the world spun around him. The mug he’d been drinking tea out of before patrol rocked off the edge and shattered.

The cold tea seeped under Jason’s bare feet.

“Jason.”

A drip of red bled into the liquid.

A shard of ceramic must have cut his foot.

“Jason.”

His head jerked up.

Danny was inside his apartment.

No no no—

“Get out.” The growled words tore themselves from Jason’s throat before he even was aware of speaking.

Danny took a hesitant step forward instead, reaching out like he wanted to get closer and touch. “Jason, no. Your whole haunt is— I can feel how scared you are right now, I’m not leaving you alone.”

“Get out.”

“Maybe an ectoshot?”

Danny wasn’t listening.

“I know we were going to wait at least one more week but it might help you stabilize—”

Why wasn’t Danny listening? “Get out.”

“I can always project with my core. You said you could sense me before?”

“I said get out!” Jason roared. He lost the rest of his vision to the burning green as he stalked forward.

“Jason, I can help—”

A fist slammed into the door Danny was backed up against. Wood cracked under the now bleeding knuckles that were inches from Danny’s head. Jason crowded in close, teeth bared with a growl— close enough for the toxic green glow of his eyes to reflect off of Danny’s tan skin. With a quiet viciousness he hissed, “Get out.”

And Danny did. He phased right out through the door.

Alone in his apartment Jason sagged against the bloody door with a half screamed sob.

⊹ authors note; i’m on my period right now if you can’t tell, and all i wish for is a stoner boyfriend yunho to obsess over me :( also if you’ve never had pho, go to your local vietnamese restaurant asap! enjoy!

yunho woke up to you writhing around in bed. yunho’s body has always automatically woken up, his body for some reason senses when you’re uncomfortable. he CANNOT sleep without you, and he CANNOT sleep knowing you can’t sleep.

he hears you moaning in pain, holding your stomach. he tries to tap on you, but you don’t wake up. a few minutes later, you suddenly flip away from him, back facing him, until he realizes something. the panties you are wearing have a large patch of blood.

“baby….” he shakes your shoulder lightly, whispering in your ear. he goes to kiss your neck as you wake up giggling, turning around to him.

“yes, love?” you ask him cuddling into his chest, he pats your back lightly.

“baby i think you might’ve started your period, you’re bleeding, love…” he whispers in your ear. your hands instinctively grip onto his shoulders, feeling a pit of embarrassment build in your stomach. you immediately went to push yourself off of him and he grabs onto you lightly.

“hey.. baby… it’s okay…” he looks at you. this is the second time this has happened with him. or at least the second time him himself has told you, that you have started your period. you can feel the cramps starting to kick in, making your eyes start to water.

he delicately picks you up and walks you to the bathroom, settling you near the toilet. you sit down and pull down your underwear to your ankles, yunho immediately going to grab your underwear & tossing it into your laundry basket.

the way he was so selfless really made your heart swell, usually in this situation; girlfriend’s would feel embarrassed. but there was just no way for you to feel embarrassed when his heart was so swell for you.

he immediately went to run a shower for you, preparing all your usual stuff for your bath. he always runs a bath for you after you clean up. he goes to grab a change of underwear for you as well, preparing your silk robe beside the shower door.

you can’t help but stare at him with the most endearing eyes ever, what would you do without him? he lets you wipe yourself and then goes to grab your hands, helping you stand up.

he lifts your long tang top off of your body and brushes your hair, kissing your forehead before holding your hand to let you step into the shower. he then begins to walk into the kitchen and prepare to make your favorite, pho.

you can smell the house start to smell like your favorite meal ever, but your cheeks can’t help but swell with saliva. every time you get cramps on your period, your body for some reason reacts to the pain by throwing up.

you finish up in the shower, ringing your hair of all the water, as you put on your silk robe. you bend over in front of the toilet, forcing yourself to throw up. after you throw up, you usually feel a lot better, but unfortunately… yunho heard you.

he bursts through the door, running to kneel behind you. he holds you hair back, patting your back.

“so embarrassing…” you wipe your face & flush the toilet after you were done.

“baby… this isn’t embarrassing… it’s natural & unfortunately worse for you than others but.. that doesn’t make the way ill care for you, any different. i’ll take care of you no matter what happens or how your body reacts. just remember that okay?” he grabs your shoulders.

“i’d kiss you right now but!” you shrug your shoulders and quickly stand up to brush your teeth.

yunho giggles and goes to give you a kiss on the top of your head, going back to the kitchen. you finish your teeth regimen and take a bath, feeling a lot better with the warm water on your stomach.

you feel yourself start to doze off in the tub, but before you’re able to, yunho taps on your shoulders. you wake up to see him briefly staring at your tits, both giggling after he gets busted.

“it’s not good to fall asleep in the tub, jagiya. up! up!” he grabs your hands & pulls you up. he puts your robe on you and gives you a warm towel, hugging you while rubbing your back.

“do you have the appetite to eat right now?” he speaks lowly while he starts to brush your hair.

“i don’t, baby.” you hugged him and leaned your chin on his chest, looking up at him with puppy eyes. he brushes your hair back and puts your hair back with a clip.

“how about you go lay down, and i’ll be back. okay?” he kisses your head and pulls your hand to the bedroom.

you jump on the bed and lay down, turning on the tv. you couldn’t think about what he could be possibly up to, but you know you trust him.

“2 pre-rolls, please” yunho asks the salesman in korean. the man with multiple piercings pulls out the pre-rolls, and puts them into the bag.

“today is a special special day! if you buy two of these ‘blue dream’ pre-rolls, you get a free brownie! would you lik-“ the man begins to speak in a satori accent.

“yes! yes yes please and thankyou!” yunho is already preparing the cash to be handed over.

“well i hope you enjoy your session! hope to see you again!” the gentle man hands the bag to him with a smile, yunho just now realizing his grey eye contacts.

“oh you will!” yunho says on his way out the door. before he gets back to the car, he makes sure to eat that brownie like he’s never tasted chocolate in his life. here goes nothing!

yunho walks into the apartment with the black paper bag, making his usual “whistle” entrance. the second you hear it, you jump up and put on your bbokari slippers.

“what’s that what’s that!!!!” you jump up and down and do a few spins, already recognizing the bag he had in his hand.

“someone’s feeling better! i don’t think you need this anymore do you?” he throws the bag on the couch with a giggle, picking you up with your legs around his waist and twirling you around.

he ended up collapsing on the couch with you directly on his lap, you felt everything. he moaned slowly into your ear, sending tingles down your spine.

“last time we had some of this… we had a lot of fun didnt we?” tilting your head smugly, reaching over to grab your shared hello kitty lighter.

“we did, we really did. but today we’re gonna take it easy. have some puffs, some giggles, some phooo..!” he shakes your shoulders with excitement, “and some cuddles as well! okay???” he smiles at you catching your gaze, making you giggle.

“yes baby, ofcourse!” you say while hugging him. he starts to pull the pre-rolls out.

“open. ahhhhh…” he goes to stick the pre-roll in your mouth, lighting your blunt while massaging your hip lightly.

you take a puff and yunho closes his eyes expectedly. he loves when you blow it in his face, and vice versa. you put the blunt in his mouth, watching him hit the blunt. you watch him with lidded eyes, feeling a sudden throb in your pelvis.

“i can feel your pussy fluttering, don’t even think about it.” yunho says, holding the blunt between his lips while exhaling through his nose.

“you’re being too sexy stop it” you hit his chest and roll off his lap. he throws his head back and laughs.

you puff puff pass, and even danced around a little bit with him to some music until the on you were smoking was gone. he led you to the pho he made you, immediately taking the top off & spoon feeding you. you both made bowls for yourself.

afterwards, you started watching jonathan interview mingi, san, yeosang, and hongjoong on youtube. that shit was so hilarious to the point of yunho spilling some of his soup on your stomach. (watch on youtube if you haven’t already, the best interview to watch based on ateez truly being themselves)

“yunhoooo!!!” you screech, he could NOT stop laughing. at this point he was coughing, and kept saying to stop making him laugh or he’s going to throw up.

“IM NOT EVEN..?? IM NOT EVEN SAYING ANYTHING” you giggle along with him. he started tickling you all of a sudden, you both going into a battle.

some time has passed now. at this point he randomly started kissing you passionately, leading you into the shower. he started to undress you, and undress himself very sensually.

starting the shower, he dragged you in, beginning to massage your shoulders. damn… if this man doesn’t propose to you anytime soon, you will have to make the first move at this point. he’s just perfect husband material, and had all of the solutions to every issue you’ve ever had.

i've been so focused on IYHM for the past couple months... now that the pub date is so close, i'm full of giddy anticipation and terrible dread. so thank you everyone for the love and well wishes! it's really getting me through it.

also, i wasn't sure how to announce this so i wanted to mention it while i'm here: Waterstones now has a special sprayed edge edition of IYHM! i got my copy a little while back and it's really gorgeous. if you like paperbacks i think the color is a lovely touch!

and as another reminder, i'll be having an in-person launch event next tuesday with Brick & Mortar Books in Redmond, WA! truthfully i'm torn between my desire to interact with people and my embarrassment at being seen in public, so please feel free to spare yourselves lmao 😭 i wasn't sure i'd do an event at all but i decided to try at least once before deciding if it's for me. so we'll see how it goes!

Keefe is not a natural blond. He started dying his hair in his second year.

When Fitz and Keefe were in their second year, a rumor arose that Biana was the result of an affair, and because Lord Cassius was starting to get associated with the Vackers through their son's friendship, he didn't want any rumors to spark about his own son. To make Keefe look more like him, Cassius had Keefe start dying his hair.

Sophie was named at birth Sophia, but since no one ever calls her that she accidentally gave Alden the name Sophie when her legal papers were being made. Now she's just gaslighting the entire lost cities into believing her name's Sophie and the only one who knows is Dex, Biana, and Tam.

Tam has a lisp. Keefe used to tease him about it until Tam shoved him down a flight of stairs.

Rayni has killed three people. The first time she used her ability, and for a while, she hoped that the black swan member survived, but later she learned through Tam he died. The second time she set someone on fire like how you can use a magnifying glass to start fires with light. The third time she stabbed a girl around her own age in the chest. Rayni held her hand as she bled out.

Rayni is the tallest out of the Solroof kids. She's five-seven, Wylie is five-six, Linh is five-two and Tam is five feet even.

During the time that Dex wasn't involved much, like around flashback, he hit a massive growth spurt and is almost as tall as Fitz, but because of his bad posture, he looks shorter.

Dex also didn't get a haircut for a while, so for a short period of time, he had a mullet off-screen.

If we're going off the normal high school languages, (Spanish, German, French, and Mandarin) I think Sophie would choose German. If her school had extra, (I have a friend whose school offered Japanese, Arabic, ASL, and maybe some more, but she goes to a private school) I think Sophie would be on the fence between Arabic and ASL, before ultimately choosing Arabic. She read Frankenstein and saw Clerval's love for Arabic poetry and wanted to understand it herself, but at the same time, because she was always surrounded by noise, she liked the quiet. She picked Arabic because it would be more useful.

Upon manifesting as a Polyglot, Sophie really wanted to learn ASL but found out her ability wouldn't instantly make her fluent bc it wasn't something she heard.

Rayni talks to herself in Hindi

Wylie does actually know ASL, and Sophie was absolutely delighted. She made him teach her a bunch of words.

The Diznees speak to each other in English all the time, partly for privacy and partly to annoy their snotty customers.

Tam's dead name is Tien.

Tam and Linh both took piano lessons. Linh liked learning the music, but Tam preferred to either make stuff up or sound out his favorite songs. Later, Tam learned to play guitar, and he mostly played bass.

Rayni can play piano, violin, and cello. She wanted to be a musician and introduce more human-style music to the lost cities.

Rayni never graduated, but Tiergan tried to get her to return to Foxfire so she could enter the nobility.

• Micheal gave Travis a box of crystals cuz he had a obsession with crystals (still do) and Travis was shocked by the amount of emeralds there was in that box there was around 50 something emeralds if counting the broken shards, if counting the whole emeralds there would be like 35 which is still a lot

• Terry once threatened Micheal to turn his physical form into a relic due to a factor that Michael was trying to erase an important memory and Terry wasn't having it that day

• Travis would endlessly rant about crystals to Vylad which had started to make Vylad actually interested in crystals and start looking into them and then got obsessed over it with Travis

• Dante as a teen was a hoarder, he grew out of it eventually

• Gene, despite being a horrible person in general in high school, he tried his best to be a better person around Dante trying not to influence him cuz he is far much more aware the fact that Dante can be influenced by him and he does not need Dante to be on his level of trouble

• Gene is far nicer to Travis than other one of Dante's friend, most likely due to the fact there was already this out of nowhere trust bond that existed when Dante first introduced Travis to Gene

•Zane had braces throughout freshman year and no one noticed cuz he had a mask on, then he got retainers mid season 3

• Zane is diagnose autistic

• Garroth and Aphmau is undiagnosed ADHD even though Travis has multiple time told them to get diagnosed due to the fact of the symptoms they had visibly and every time they always have this conversation;

"well are you a psychologist?"

"No"

"then how can you see the ADHD symptoms?"

"Cuz I have ADHD!"

"oh..uhm well you pay for a psychologist then!"

And then Travis actually gets them appointed to a psychologist for a ADHD diagnose and they got an actually official diagnose because of Travis and his ridiculous amount of money

• Vylad is dyslexic and Travis would spend hours after school in the library with him teaching him stuff, even if that means getting home late which Michael usually don't mind cuz he's never home until midnight Vylad got his permission card to stay late from his mom

• Vylad is the reason Zane is into my little horsey, Vylad actually introduced Zane to so many cartoons that now they can binge watch any kind of cartoons that Vylad puts on the platter

A vietnamese movie about a young man, Van, who visits his family for the first time after being abroad for nine years. He doesn't come alone, but brings his boyfriend Ian with him. Van waits for the best moment to come out to his family and present Ian as his partner. It is more of a family drama than the typical bl, but it is such a good movie. The grandmother is the heart and soul of it all. It provides everything, happiness, sadness, anger, pain, love...just a perfect movie. It is still available on GagaOOLala, but on the list to leave soon.

A Tale Of Thousand Stars

One of my feel-good-series. EarthMix is one of my favorite pairing and they went crazy with all the staring and pining. The story of Tian and Phupha who meet at a village in the forest where Tian works as a volunteer teacher and Phupha is the local Chief Forest Officer. We whitness how two people get to know each other, understand each other and develop feelings for each other. It is a romantic fairytale dealing with important and serious issues and I love it! Moonlight Chicken

Speaking of EarthMix...Moonlight Chicken is my newest favorite and one of the easiest decisions for picking as a favorite. It is a short series, but it tells so many stories in a perfect way. No character comes too short, no realtionship is undeveloped. It is such a perfect series. EarthMix are killing it, but GeminiFourth stole the show. Their depiction of a this first love between a deaf young man and an angry young man was just so beautiful. Both had their dreams and both felt unheard and unseen from the outside (especially the parents and guardians) and they developed such a pure and beautiful bond. I could go on and on about the beauty of this show. Perfect and free to watch on Youtube.

My School President

And another GeminiFourth project. I am so in love with this show. It is something personal. The story about a first love and such a healthy love and Tin, our school president is one walking green flag. The show helped me on a very personal level to understand parts of my own history and choices and I am forever grateful and will keep this in my heart. And besides that it is such a comfort watch. Every conflict is dealt with before the episodes end and there is no drama, just love and respect. I love it! It is also free on Youtube.

Triage

This is something else. We have time loops and some supernatural stuff happening while the main character tries to rescue this young man who is as it turns out the love of his life. And when it looks like it finally can work out, destiny or in this case a higher entity, plays a little bit with time and fucks everyting up again. It is really interesting and tense and there are twists and it is just amazing!

The Untamed

Does this count as a bl? It is not the typical bl, more a censored adaptation of same-sex original work from China. Nevertheless you can see the love and affection between Lan Zhan and Wei Ying. This is a masterpiece. When I tell people about it, who don't watch asian dramas, I always tell them it is better than Game of Thrones for me, so they can put it in relation. This show wrecked me. I cried like never before. And I can't put into words what this series made me feel. It is on Viki and WeTV.

180 Degree Longitude Passes Through Us

Speaking of non typical bls stuff. 180 degree is such a good series. It is difficult to watch, because it feels really raw at parts and it deals with so much stuff, like homophobia, grief, internal homophobia, trauma, loss, love different kinds of relationship, growing up and stagnation, resignation. And the cinematography, uuuhhh! Such a beautiful series and in everything you see on screen you can intepret something in it. As a person who studied language and the comparison between novels and their adaptations, this was heaven for my intepretation loving heart. You can watch it on GagaOOLala.

A First Love Story

Strongberry at its best. It is korean and a short film in two parts and perfect. It tells the story of two best friends who have feelings for each other, but one of them enlisted and has to go to the military soon. We meet them again after some time and get a very intimate view on a very short part of their lifes. The acting is good, the story is good, the chemistry is good. You can watch it on Youtube or soon it will be on GagaOOLala again.

Be Loved in House: I Do

My comfort watch. This is nothing special. It is just a workplace romance, but it feels so cozy and I love the story. It makes me feel all the butterflies and happiness in my stomach and I love this shit! The company gets a new boss, who is very strict, has a bunch of rules and forbids his co-workers to date, because love can be a distraction and because of his own personal trauma. Can his stone-cold heart be warmed-up again? Oh the cuddles are everything for me! It is on Viki.

History 2: Crossing the line

I like most of the HIStory shows, but tis one I like the most. I do love the secondary couple of HIStory 3: Make our days count and HIStory 4: Close to you (I know...don't judge me), but as a whole series I really like this one the most. Perhaps because it is something different with the whole Volleyball thing or because I think the main couple is just so sweet. I don't know, I like to rewatch it from time to time. Bad Buddy

My first asian bl ever. I am so happy I could start with this one. I love the story of Pat and Pran. Enemies to lovers is something else and they did a really good job. And their love was so vulnerable and sweet. Even though Pat always tried to be the strong kind of macho man, he was soft and sweet with Pran and it was so cute to watch. And the iconic rooftop scene! What a scene! It is free on Youtube.

Long Time No See

Another movie. I don't want to spoil anything. This has assasins and mafia and love and romance and sweetness and blood and fighting. It is not the typical bl stuff, it is more mature, but a really good action movie in my eyes. I liked the drama and the action scenes. As it is leaving GagaOOLala soon, I just rewatched it and it is still good!

Semantic Error

I don't know how many times I rewatched this one. The enemies to lovers story that just melts my heart. I am reading the manhwa and this is so explicit! The series is so tuned down from the original. Nevertheless I love the story of how SangWoo made his way into JaeYoungs heart and melted our all hearts on the way. This one is on Viki.

Old Fashion Cupcake

The story of the 29 years old Togawa who tries to show 39 years old Nozue how beautiful life can be. And what better way to show him than to eat the most delicious sweets ever. I am always hungry and craving for sweets after watching this. This series gives hope. You are never too old to start enjoying life and to allow yourself to love again, even if the person is ten years younger. And another one you can watch on Viki.

Love Mechanics

I guess this is here because of YinWar. I mean, their chemistry is through the roof! The story itself...well...cheating and pain and War is crying quite often. But it is still good and I can't stop rewatching it. Yes the story is hurtful and a little bit stupid, but VeeMark are adorable when they are happy and in love. It can be watched on WeTV.

DNA Says Love You

We all love some slow burn, right? I mean, this one is very much slow burning, but with a reason and it is a really interesting story behind all that. It is a complex story with some really good staring and pining and hurt and comfort. You have to watch carefully to understand everything, but it is worth it and the wait while our hearts burn away through the slow burn is worth it too.

Gaya Sa Pelikula (Like in the movies)

This one is...it is cute. I don't know what else to say. It is not the best production, but the story is good and the actors are doing a good job. Karl needs to live on his own because a family tradition says it is a good idea to show early on how to survive alone in this world. So he moves into his uncle's apartment where he meets his neighbour Vlad and because of some reasons the end up living together. I love the soundtrack and their whole story. It is free on Youtube.

Once Again

My favorite bl series of 2022. It tells the story of Shin Jae Woo who deals with childhood trauma and because of some supernatural stuff happening, he jumps back in time to the year he was almost the victime of a crime, but Kang Ji Hoon helped him back then. JaeWoo wants to rescue JiHoon from this path. I was crying through most of the second half of this series. It is just so good. Painful and hurtful. Just watch is you can deal with sad stuff. Everytime I need a good cry, I come back here and it always works its magic. It si on Viki and GagaOOLala.

We best love: No. 1 for you

The true enemies to lovers story. The slow burn and the slow realisation is just so perfect. I feel with Gao Shi De through this whole story. I love to rewtach it and see things I haven't before. And the second season is good as well! Not as good as the first one for me, but still really good. You can watch it on WeTV.

Secret Crush On You

If you manage to get past the first episode full of cringe and you learn things about the characters, you see that these are all of us. The characters are not flawless, they make us cringe, because it feels too real. You can't act normal when you are living your secret crush. And you feel uncomfortable if you don't fit the norms. It is so beautiful to see that there are people out there who love you for who you are. And who isn't afraid to tell the world about it. This series makes my heart feel all the beautiful feelings. It is a little gem out there. And you can watch it for free on youtube.

He leans back on the couch, doing his best frown-equivalent at the ceiling. “Remind us again why we can’t cook?”

“Sunny, the avocado’s not ripe,” you remind him. “It’s solidly in the pre-ripe bitter stages. You can still make the stuff without the avocado.”

Clearly that’s not the answer he’s looking for. Drama queen. “It’s not complete without the avocado slices! We did not go through all those stores looking for sushi-grade tuna to stop just short of the perfect dish! It was going to be so pretty!”

“I could just order sushi.”

“Don’t you dare.” He pouts at you as you chuckle, offended that you’d even joke about undermining his dinner plans when you know he’d rather you have a different meal every day. Poor Sun, he’s been aching to use that tatami roller for nearly two months now; everything else is ready to go, but he couldn’t plan for the most unreliable thing of all: the whims of mother nature. “We could still make something over rice…”

“The only vegetables we have is green onion and cucumber,” you sing smugly at him, doing your worst impression of his voice as you continue, “not a balanced meal! Not at all!”

He makes a flustered, upset sound. “Grocery day is tomorrow!”

“Relax, Sunny.” You send him a smile. “Takeout isn’t that bad. We can even have it delivered, no need to get all dolled up for a drive.”

Sun just mutters at you. “Not that bad. Not that bad!”

You hold yourself back from rolling your eyes. “Poppy. Is this a problem? Are you mad?”

“No,” he says, still pouting. “Upset that something as silly as an unripe avocado would ruin the taste. How long do avocados take to soften? We’ve had it for a week, surely that should have been enough time.”

“I wouldn’t know.”

A sigh. “… Takeout?”

You hum an affirmative. “If I get enough, it could practically be a full meal plan for the next two, three days? I used to be able to make that much food stretch a full week, but—” he narrows his eyes at you. “Yeah, yeah, I know. Three meals a day.”

The assurance sates him. For now. “What are you getting, then?”

“… I don’t know.” When’s the last time you’ve needed to order takeout? When’s the last time you ordered takeout in general? It couldn’t have been recently, Sun’s been managing the meal plan down to the amount of ingredients and this is the first time – oh, that might explain why he’s so upset – the first time he’s fallen short on it.

When’s the last time you’ve so much as visited a fast food chain? Three months? … Four? Do you even know what restaurants offer delivery around here anymore?

You don’t. “I’ll have to look at some menus, it’s been a bit. Want to help?”

“Yes.”

“There might be a Chinese place around. That’s a decent go-to.” You pull out your phone and sit at his side, the two of you instinctually leaning into the shared space to look at the screen.

(Having another cuddle bug room with you has been a highlight of your current housing situation – one of many.)

You hum at the nearest options, the ones you wouldn’t mind driving to. “Fast food’s okay. Cheap.”

“Not balanced.”

“I can eat some cucumber just for you, Poppy.”

He pokes your shoulder for the sass and giggles when you act like he’s mortally wounded you. “Anything else?”

“Ex-nay on the sushi place,” you say, looking around that area on a map, “and I’m guessing you don’t approve of a burger.”

“Nope!”

“Figures.” You guess you did have burgers recently anyway. “Italian? I could go for some pasta.”

“What’s that?”

One metallic finger hovers above a point on the map – you angle the screen to see below it. “Ooh, a Pho place! That’s Vietnamese, like a soup with a bunch of toppings. Haven’t had some of that in forever.”

His rays spin at the enthusiasm for his find. “What kind of toppings?”

“A bunch of sauces, um… some bean sprouts and green onions, cilantro… maybe some lime? Oh, and siracha. Here, why don’t you figure out what I’m ordering?”

And just like that, his bad mood is completely forgotten in favor of this new and exciting kind of food. You let him have at it, doing whatever he does when deciding what types of tastes you like – he’s never really been wrong – while you go to get dressed. By the time you come back to the living room, Sunny’s on his feet in the kitchen and has his little recipe book opened on the counter.

You sigh fondly and hope you don’t get tired of soup anytime soon.

Shocking enough I haven’t been asked this specific question before! I’m actually a little surprised it didn’t come up sooner :d

Anyway:

Jesse and Miranda are both 1/4th-Japanese on their father’s/grandmother’s side and half-Spanish (as in, descended from someone born from Ninjago-equivalent Spain) on their mother’s side, which is related to why they don’t exactly have “oh yeah you’re totally ____” characteristics at a glance. Mainly pulling from my own mixed heritage experience here tho (just not that exact combination, haha). We haven’t had the time to truly dig into it in the main story, but it has been referenced here and there that the siblings do speak some Spanish, while their family’s restaurant tends to skewer towards more Japanese-inspired dishes. Surprise!

Olivia takes inspiration for her movie’s voice actor, Ali Wong, who herself is of Chinese-American and Vietnamese ancestry!

Art question, how do you figure out your armor design? Cormac and sangs armor are both different from eachother and also fitting to their fighting styles/ personalitys. Im asking cause i dont even know where to start looking for refs

Hi! love this question because it's definitely hard to get started, before the witcher ocs i tended to avoid drawing armour full stop haha but they kinda made me and i'm glad they did.

But just to show you i have a huge jumping off reference board when it comes to armour and it's literally just from going through pinterest and adding any and all armour that caught my eye, from practical sense or from a design point. The program i use to is pureref btw which is great for compiling stuff

it gives me a point to at least start when i thinking about the qualities i want in the armour i'm building, these are even sort of sorted into their own categories in my brain. (rogue armour vs knight armour vs a mage that kinda thing, just so i can keep it organized)

But past that point when i have a character and i know their personality, their culture can play a huge influence, this is probably most apparent in Sang where i tried my best to make a lot of nods to Vietnamese culture and their armour so i grabbed a ton of reference from traditional clothing, art, that sorta thing, as well as tried to research as best i could the cultural significance of those pieces of clothing. (and always like to hear if there are corrections to make or suggestions from someone who knows a lot than i do haha) Sang is also my oldest character of the witcher ocs so i've been able to build a lot for his board

When it came to cormac i actually started with his silhouette because i literally went into designing him as like. how can i make the biggest fuck off looking witcher lmao

so from here i went into more specifics, figured out more of cormacs personality and went to my broad range armour board from there and then narrowed down pics and then collected more since i wanted to lean into that highlander warrior vibe. (thats the other thing, you're never done collecting references, there's always more resources to find!) and now these are the go tos for cormacs reference for armour. Way less intence than sangs because there isn't as much as an emphasis put on the culture, hes a big intimidating witcher first and than the highland warrior aspects are like flourishes.

Lastly i just made harley!! Harleys a bit different because i didn't have any specific culture in mind when creating him, his is a lot more rooted in his personality. Harley isnt a big tough warrior, hes honestly more of a pacifist when he can be so i wanted his armour to almost be softer than the others, put more emphasis on agility without making his armour just sleek. His board of armour is smaller than the others since he's newest but i'm sure it'll expand as i draw him more haha.

this was super rambly and i'm not sure how much it helps but basically my advice is just, accumulate a bunch of armour to give yourself a jumping off point, organize it in a way that makes sense to you. then when you have your character you'll be able to look at your choices, narrow down options, and then further explore that style you want and expand on it! I hope this helps haha

Ramble post about this pic!!!: :D

Okay okay so like everything else I do, I made this up as I went along, but I put a slightly unhealthy amount of thought into everything. This is basically just the part where I infodump random details that I’m proud of

Kaeya has stars in his hair, Albedo has a crescent moon on his belt, and Klee has sun emblems on her dress and in her hair ☀️🌙✨ I am obsessed with sun, moon, and star dynamics and it shows (Albedo also has stars on his boots but that’s just cause I couldn’t think of anything else to put there so shhhhh)

Klee’s signature color is red, and Kaeya’s is blue, so Albedo is wearing purple. I cried when I had the idea

Kaeya’s wearing a black shirt and light pants. Inversely, Albedo’s wearing a white shirt and black pants. Klee’s mimicking both of them with a light shirt and pants. (This was completely on accident and I only thought of it after I had colored everything)

They’re matching a little by all having braids in their hair. They had a little braid train and helped each other do their hair

Albedo also had a ridiculous amount of alternative outfits because I just could not decide what he should be wearing

This was the first one I tried, but it looked kind of Fontainian to me and I just wasn’t feeling it

Somewhere along the way I drew him in an ao dai because his English VA is Vietnamese and I’ve been looking for excuses to draw ao dais since I used to wear them as a kid

And then here’s a few of the many, many variations of his final outfit:

I liked the idea of a cape, but I just couldn’t find one that felt exactly right, so I ended up leaving it out

For Kaeya, I scrolled through the desi Kaeya tag and looked at different arts of him (fellow Kaeya enthusiasts, if you haven’t done this yet then please go do it all these artists make him look so good) and searched up a few different fashions/traditional wear for inspiration. I tried to be respectful while also interpreting the outfit loosely but seriously someone please tell me if I did anything disrespectfully cause I really don’t want to do that

I do kind of feel like he’s lacking in details and color range, and I sort of wish I’d included some peacock feathers, but I was having trouble visualizing any intricate details for any of them. I think the most complex decals is either the stars in Kaeya’s hair or the sparkles on Klee’s skirt

Kaeya also went through a couple different hairstyles; I started with his normal hair, tried a bunch of random stuff, and eventually settled on my take on the braid from his Sailwind Shadow skin

Here’s a couple that I tried during the process:

Hmmm okay now that I’m looking at these pictures I’m thinking I need to draw him with a high ponytail again sometime. And also the bun. And the chunky braid too. Dang it Kaeya, stop being so beautiful (I’m joking please don’t)

And as for Klee, she really didn’t change much from beginning to end. I had pretty much finished both Albedo and Kaeya by the time I even started on her, so I was both in the zone and losing steam, so I kinda just went with my first attempts at everything. Pretty much the only change was I tried drawing her with braids instead of pigtails for all of thirty seconds before I decided that the pigtails were just too iconic and couldn’t be left out

And if you ever go through our history, you would know that our ancestors DIDN'T (or barely I'm not sure of this part) use katana, they used SWORDS some what like yours. And don't even make me talk about her sais, shurikens, kunais! Just... you get what I mean.

So DC, reconsider the way you draw her because not every Asia countries is the same, we are all have our own culture and history; it's what make us individual, what make us special. We have our own pride, and if you want to represent us then do it right; do not look on the surface look into the bottom of the iceberg cuz if you not at least respect what we wear, how can you respect the rest of us.

Life has been good since I last wrote. Work has slowed way down and will remain that way until the end of the year. :) I've had plenty of time to relax and spend with loved ones.

Derek and I spent Christmas Eve with his parents. We went out to dinner and then had a bunch of homemade cookies for dessert. I'm really grateful and lucky that I have them as parental figures, since I'm lacking my own. I used to distrust and be wary of all parents and family units because my relationship with mine is/was so bad. It took me a long time to warm up to Derek's parents and brothers. It's great that I have his parents as parental figures, but also it's sad, because I know they won't be around one day and losing them will be awful. I try to focus on the fact that they're around now, and we enjoy our time together as a family. We had a family Christmas with my brother- and sister-in-law and nieces on Sunday, as well as Derek's grandmother. :)

I got to spontaneously have lunch with a friend I haven't seen in months yesterday!! We went out to this very cute homestyle Vietnamese place. It felt so indulgent and cozy to sit by the window on a gray afternoon, on a workday!, and have good food and catch up with an old friend.

I finished Horrorstor, by Grady Hendrix. Highly recommend to fans of horror, haters of capitalism, and people who have worked retail. I am currently listening to We Sold Our Souls, by Grady Hendrix. This is the last book of his I haven't read yet, and I'll be sad when I have to start waiting for his new releases instead of making my way through the back catalog.

I'm not big into the beauty world/scene, but I have enjoyed getting back into the habit of doing my own nails again. Having a fresh coat of polish is a small thing but feels so good. Red and dark purple are my usual lipstick shades for work/going to family stuff etc., but I've also found this more natural pink/berry shade that I love for everyday gym/ runningerrands. I've found that small things like a bit of lip color, having my nails polished, a little necklace or earrings, give me an extra bit of confidence in my look, as someone who's struggled with that for my whole life.

First of all, last year I actually made a whole page/post of exactly this, so definitely check that out! (That's two different links and I suspect you'll have better luck with the first link on desktop than mobile, but it's the same stuff in either place.)

Then here are some books I've been meaning to add to the list since then and hadn't gotten around to:

A Clash of Steel by C.B. Lee – a total reimagining of Treasure Island as a queer romance about Chinese and Vietnamese girls and women. I loved this book! Two particular characters from the original were merged into one character which never would have occurred to me and it was SUCH a good reveal.

The Last Smile in Sunder City by Luke Arnold – It’s by Luke Arnold.

When Women Were Dragons by Kelly Barnhill – About women (especially queer and otherwise nonconforming women) in the 1950s refusing to be silenced and controlled. And they’re dragons.

The Arabian Nights – I recommend the new(ish) version translated by Yasmine Seale and annotated by Paolo Lemos Horta, which is enormous but really interesting. This is a really foundational text that has consciously or unconsciously influenced a lot of other stories over a long time, and I don’t think it’s a leap to guess that Treasure Island, Black Sails, and some of the other books on my list are among them. Plus, here’s a quote from the introduction that might give off some familiar vibes: “Every story in the global canon of fantastical literature is in some way a vessel shipwrecked on the rocks of its misinterpretation… Assessed in these terms, One Thousand and One Nights is perhaps the greatest and most sprawling ruin of them all.”

Cinnamon and Gunpowder by Eli Brown – Some poor bastard finds himself stuck as the cook on a pirate ship, gets his leg amputated, and falls in love with the ruthless captain. Hmm.

A Conspiracy of Truths and A Choir of Lies by Alexandra Rowland – Explores the roles of storytellers in society through the misadventures of really fascinating unreliable narrators.

And the recent reads that prompted the post I think you're responding to were The Drowning Empire trilogy (beginning with The Bone Shard Daughter) - a very compelling fantasy series which I initially picked up primarily because the covers look kind of like the Black Sails intro sequence - and Silver Under Nightfall by Rin Chupeco, which yes! I did look at entirely because it had Silver in the title. It's a vampire book and it has some weaknesses BUT it's a polyamorous romance which counts for a lot. Plus I've been resisting reading Flint and Mirror by John Crowley which. has Flint in the title.

They're not in the same world!!! Sorry I should've clarified that,,

I have a couple separate oc worlds! There's Lorraine's, Jonah's, Eli's, The Forgotten Realms ( for Vio + the other D&D OCS), Vali/Barley's, and then a "Main World" for the rest of my ocs.

Lorraine, Jonah, and Eli ( along with the additional ocs they respectively have) have their own worlds bc they have like. A Story/Lore and the others like Barren, Roxie,Caspian, Dulcie, etc. exist but don't have a narrative. Eli's story is fairly open ended/continuous but he does have like story arcs ( Pre-capture, Capture, Post-capture, and then Zoo)

Because of this, Lorraine and Jonah will never "meet" official bc they Can't. But I still would like to draw them hanging out or interacting bc I love them.

Um some fun facts! ( Cut to reduce scrolling)

Lorraine is the eldest child of three! That's why she took over leader responsibilities + inherited her father's spear

Jonah was essentially born an adult; shes aware of this and has mixed feelings on it. Physically and mentally she's in her 20's.

The sky island is above the clouds in altitude and it's extremely cold + windy for essentially all of the seasons. Making winter wear and thick clothing is a big part of the culture for the villagers ( long padded gloves + scarves are especially popular and important gifts)

Jonah basically didn't wear clothes until she escaped the facility. Didn't need to + the scientists felt that it could be a potential hazard during trials ( getting caught in machinery mainly ) but they let her keep the hair most of the time

Most of my OCS don't have voice claims, but a couple do! Marley's is Jenny Nicholson from YT, Dulcie's is Becky Blomfield from MilkTeeth, and Eli's is maybe Donald Glover as Marshall Lee ( Eli's may change though !!)

Eli is Brazilian, Licorice is Blasian, and Anthony is half Vietnamese

Dulcie had a boyfriend through late highschool and college, but they had a rather....messy breakup when she realized she was a lesbian and broke down over it. They're on better terms now though!! ( Still not great terms)

Buster and Brutus are fraternal twins and look fairly similar. They used to get confused more often before Brutus transitioned + changed his makeup look to be more "unique" ( he basically just does a messier version of his sister's). They're also both Giant Clown Wrestlers in a circus LMAO

Marley/Lewis/Eli have the most aus out of my ocs: Holy, MSM, and Human. The Holy au is where Eli is a demon who makes a pact with Marley, a nun, and they fight demons together. Lewis used to have a pact with Eli but broke it. MSM is Mad Scientists Marley, where it's basically Victor Frankenstein but with a small redheaded woman and her massive pet snake. And the Human au is What If Eli Was Just A Human. And him and Marley and Lewis could do Human Stuff

Marley is vegetarian but Eli is NOT ( used to have a real bad habit of. Eating people. But he's better now! Now he's a big fish + boar guy)

Vali is based off a Laysan Albatross + acts as a air taxi between islands for pay

Licorice is mute and communicates primarily in ASL but does use writing occasionally if someone isn't fluent in sign/she needs them to remember something

"Hmm... I think I recall seeing her a few times back when I was staying in the White House. Of course, I can't be sure if that was her or not. No offense, but all guards start to blend together when they're all wearing the same uniform and have the same stern look on their face. Not that I don't appreciate them for their work or anything, but sometimes having them follow me and my family around can be very annoying, especially when I just wanted some time for myself. When my father assigned me this role, I was kinda glad he didn't assign any guards with me. ...Though I wonder if that was due to the fact that he was planning on sending Kyler after me."

"But anyway, from reading up on her, she seems to have a disliking for my father, like I do. Plus, I heard she managed to save that Kyler on a mission. Ha. I've not met her, and I already like her."

"Hmm... her skin and name sounds Vietnamese, but almost nothing about this woman is concrete. I do know she works in jewelry design. Evelyn is a big fan of her jewelry. Me, it's alright, but it seems a little too girly for me. But besides that, she seems very... sultry. Almost like a fox. I guess considering the team's symbol is a fox, this should be obvious."

"A yoga instructor? Interesting. My mom and oldest sister, Elisha, often practice that stuff together along with the other women in the park or gymnasium. Me, I never had the patience to learn, though I did give it a shot once. I was a little embarrassed being the only male in the group, so I left cause... well, cause it was awkward, okay? Let's just leave it at that. I'm not saying men can't do it, but maybe it'd be better if more men tried it. Then I'd be willing to give it a shot again."

"Besides that, I'm a bit... confused about how to feel about this woman, exactly. The reason being is because of Rashaad. If the fact that both he and her are Puerto Rican wasn't a hint, ever since he received a picture of her, he's been completely... quiet about her. For those who know him, this isn't exactly out of character for the guy. Ever since I met him, Rashaad has always been a bit closed off when it comes to his past or origins. Even though Evelyn and I have known him for years, he still doesn't tell us all about himself. So, my best guess is this woman is someone from his past. Either a family member, or a former love. I can't claim to know anything about that, but I hope he knows that he doesn't have to deal with whatever he's going through by himself..."

"'Sounds of Silence...' Hmm. The team name is certainly original. I'd wager it may be due to the fact that these women aren't all that they appear to be. I mean, I don't know about the other two, but I know for a fact that Alexis isn't just a photographer. But... I should probably keep quiet about that in case she's undercover or something. Last thing I want is to be the reason an agent failed in her mission, whatever that it is."

"But I have to wonder what these women's roles in this tournament is. They don't seem... hostile, but I'm not sure about their reasoning for being here. What's more, I'm really worried about Rashaad and that yoga instructor. If we are to face this team, I hope he doesn't let whatever is bothering him about her deter him. People really liked the photos of my cats, so I guess I should officially should introduce them? Fair warning, some sad kitten stuff in the post. (More cute and happy stuff, though.)

So we've got three cats: Seth, Cairo, and Hathor. They're all Vietnamese street cats we mostly adopted via fostering from a local shelter. (I live in Vietnam, I love it.)

Seth, the ginger, is the oldest (1 year old) and biggest of the three. He is incredibly attached to the other two, and is an extremely protective, loyal big brother.

- Lets kittens nurse on him, will let the kittens steal his food.

- He's addicted to dried fish. ADDICTED. He will bite your fingers if you don't give him his dried fish fast enough. Will NOT share his dried fish with the kittens.

- Loves belly rubs to a ridiculous degree. I've given him 34 minute belly rubs before. (I timed it.) Just full on both direction belly rubs, to a level that would satisfy dogs.

- Very smart cat. Stole the brain cells from all the other gingers.

- Handsome, kind gentleman. Very polite. Slow blinks whenever he sees us.

- Chatty.

- nose and toe beans are so pink that we constantly fear Anish Kapoor coming for them

Hathor, the tortie, is the youngest and smallest. I doubt she weighs more than two kg, and doesn't seem to be growing any more.

- Very smart. TOO SMART. Opens drawers. Hunts everything. Commits crime. Loses her collar constantly. Possibly trading it for crime related tools?

- Loves being carried like a baby.

- Tolerates belly rubs.

- Sploots

- Bleps more than the vast majority of cats

- Follows Seth everywhere, nurses on him (pretty sure she thinks he's her mom?)

- Very chatty. Not afraid to yell when needed.

- Grooms and is groomed by Cairo a lot

- Our only non-foster- adopted her from a lovely couple that rescued her mom and siblings off the street. (Street life is TOUGH for cats in Vietnam.)

- very shy around strangers

- likes high places, like atop the kitchen cabinets

- Did I mention the crime?

- murders more lizards and bugs than the others combined. Also birds. And a bat once.

And then we have Cairo. The middle cat both by size and age. He is... a fuzzy little grumpy dumbass with a tragic backstory.

- When he and his brothers were discovered, two of the three were stuck in a concrete drain pipe and had to be rescued by a work crew with power tools. The third was stuck in a bush nearby, and could have easily escaped by simply backing up. Guess which one Cairo was?

- We only fostered two of them, the original foster intended to keep the third, who was a special needs kitty (back injury, would be months or years before he could have walked.) Tragically, all three were infected with FIV, and both of Cairo's brothers passed away from it. However, we managed to catch Cairo's symptoms in time, and the vets here in Vietnam have an actual functioning treatment for FIV, and Cairo pulled through just fine! (The treatment is NOT cheap, takes months, and is only effective if you catch the FIV in time, which we just barely did. Cairo had to spend two weeks staying at the vets in intensive kitten care.)

- We didn't originally intend to keep Cairo, but after losing his brother and almost losing him, yeah, we foster failed hard.

- Did I mention Cairo is NOT smart?

- Hyper food-motivated

- Has a raspy voice like a pack-a-day-smoker, even when he was a tiny kitten.

- Excellent at grooming himself, very classically handsome.

- When play fighting the others, his only strategy is to open his mouth as wide as possible and lunge straight at the others. He, uh, never wins. Not even against Hathor, who is TINY.

- Our cuddliest kitten

- Spotty belly, which, sadly, he doesn't enjoy having rubbed

-Likes to nurse on my shorts. Very cute, but very painful, because he kneads his claws into my thighs. And I have, on multiple occasions, answered the door for deliveries with a big kitten drool patch on my shorts that looks just like I wet myself. And I don't speak Vietnamese (and even moreso not the local dialect), so I can't explain that it's just cat drool. 😥

- Always confused at how Hathor and Seth manage to climb tall things.

- Confused about most things, really.

- SCREAMS. Cairo hungry? Screams. Cairo wants in the office with the AC? Screams. Wants to nurse on my shorts? Screams. Very effective communicator.

- Grumpy little grumbler. Constantly complaining about something or other in his raspy little voice. Is he being picked up or pet when he didn't ask to be? IT'S THE WORST THING EVER DONE TO ANY CAT EVER

- Has never been fed. Ever. Not once in his life.

You might have noticed that there are, in fact, FOUR cats in the top photo.

The fourth cat isn't ours, he's just a neighborhood cat that enjoys hanging out at our place and annoying us. We call him Vegemite, and he:

- Meows constantly, even at the other cats, to their confusion and annoyance. They don't like him, but tolerate his presence. (Except Hathor, who smacks him in the face ten times a day. Not hard, and no claws, but she doesn't want him right next to her.)

- Had to be trained not to steal our cats' food. (We feed him separately from them- dude was SKINNY when he first started coming around. Not our cat, but dude needed a good meal or three.)

- Un-neutered, and sprays our house sometimes. Has peed on my wife's laptop MULTIPLE times.

- Still trying to figure out who his actual owner is? If he doesn't have one, we're going to get him neutered and get him shots. He was way too friendly to be a full-on stray, though, strays in Vietnam are NOT friendly. (The ones that are get stolen for the pet meat trade, which is a really fucked up industry that almost everyone in Vietnam hates, outside its small customer base. News reports of pet thieves being severely beaten are not uncommon here.)

Anyhow, kitties! They're very good, and we love them very much!
