K – Kiss – Would they kiss someone under the mistletoe? Would they put it up, or would they stumble on it by accident?

Sabo definitely sees the fun of mistletoe, but he doesn’t actively participate in it. He doesn’t place the mistletoe but he doesn’t actively search for them either. He takes his chances instead, just waiting and seeing what’ll happen.

Whoever he gets caught with under a mistletoe, he doesn’t mind too much. If it’s someone he doesn’t like he’ll settle for a quick hug, and in other cases he’ll give them a quick kiss on the cheek. Sabo isn’t afraid to show some affection to the people he cares about. Hugs and cheek kisses, all are fine by him.

With his s/o, he’ll obviously give them a kiss on them lips. Just something short and sweet though, nothing inappropriate. Even if they want to go for something more passionate, Sabo will shut it down, saying they’re in public and that he doesn’t want to make people uncomfortable. If his s/o refuses to kiss him under the mistletoe though, he’ll get really pouty.

Sabo is a rather big fan of the tradition and enjoys it to the fullest. He also loves getting kisses on the cheek from others.

I kinda assume this ask is meant as a general, I guess sorta self-inserty sense? If so, apologies in advance if this response isn’t at all what you wanted >.<; I have absolutely nothing against self-inserts and think it’s great if other people have fun with them, you do you! ^ ^

But I admittedly am not that great with them, and usually see my ships as characters liking other characters as people. In my own personal interpretation of ships, any traits characters find attractive in the one they love, they may not necessarily find attractive in others. Likewise, there aren’t really “traits” to look for in people in a general sense; they love who they love because of their unique identity, history, relationship, and chemistry as a result with the character. Is how I personally perceive ships ^ ^;

So in the ASL brothers’ case, I personally (and I keep on stressing this, bc it’s totally fine if others see differently!) only romantically ship Ace and Sabo with Luffy. Luffy I can ship with a lot of people! But think his relationship with his brothers is extra special.

Keeping that in mind, changing the prompt to, What’s one thing they like about their significant other?:

Ace: He loves Luffy’s honesty. It can be annoying at times, stupid even, but Luffy is honest with his whole heart, says what he means, and couldn’t tell a lie if he wanted to. It’s why his words of wanting Ace to live, of loving Ace, of not caring about the identity of his father, all strike true in ways that wouldn’t from anyone else. It’s the first thing (of many things) about Luffy that saved him, Ace thinks.

Ace also knows that wearing your emotions on your sleeve like that can make Luffy vulnerable, but he never wants Luffy to change. If anyone wants to take advantage of his brother’s honesty, or how gullible he is, or tries to take away his happiness in any way--they’ll have to deal with Ace first.

Sabo: Sabo loves that Luffy can depend on him. This isn’t at all to say that Luffy’s a particularly dependent person in general--in fact, the opposite, because Luffy is as independent as a person can be, free and untethered. Which is what makes his admission of needing to rely on others special, and humbling. Sabo knows Luffy’s no longer the child who couldn’t throw straight punch, knows he’s grown into the role of a pirate captain that he’d always said he would--but Luffy’s still his baby brother, too.

And Luffy, who doesn’t know where Sabo was for twelve years, didn’t even know he was alive, who has no idea what Sabo does now or his titles or his fighting skills or anything about him really--despite all of that, Luffy can entrust him with winning Ace’s fruit, with defeating Doflamingo’s officers, with doing anything Luffy needs help with, because Sabo’s Luffy’s older brother. Luffy trusts Sabo so completely, knows Sabo can do it without question, and it’s as natural as breathing. And it makes Sabo want to cry (it does make him cry), that this precious relationship he was so sure was lost to him, that he no longer deserved (Ace is gone, Sabo wasn’t there, he failed) was never gone to Luffy in the first place.

Sabo is Luffy’s older brother. And Sabo would burn down the entire world for Luffy without question.

Luffy: Luffy doesn’t get the question. Ace and Sabo are Luffy’s older brothers, and Ace is Ace, and Sabo is Sabo. Luffy doesn’t think he needs any other words to describe their importance to him, or why he loves them. Luffy thinks they’re cool, knows they’re strong, and kind, and he loves when he hugs them and can hear the beat beat beat of their warm hearts in his ear--but that’s not why he loves them. Luffy loves Ace, because he’s Ace, and loves Sabo because he’s Sabo. And he always will, because Luffy is Luffy, and he wouldn’t be Luffy anymore if he didn’t.

Sabo admires anything and everything about you. He doesn’t really care about imperfections, you are perfect as you are in his eyes. He’s not ashamed to tell or show you that and will regularly shower you in compliments! Now, Sabo has some chaotic energy, and he was immediately attracted to yours which was a bit more calming, good to keep his impulses under control. He admires your patience and your strength of will. He loves that you will worry about him when he’s off on duty, without stopping him from doing his job. He loves your endless support and the love he can come home to every single time. 

Sabo is attracted to a great smile too. Someone who is not afraid to laugh, smile whenever they feel happy. Don’t mind what your face or teeth look like or what you sound like when you laugh out loud. Sincere happiness and joyful laughter are so contagious and he will be laughing or smiling along with you in no time, so happy to see your eyes light up. K - kiss - Are they a good kisser? What was the first kiss like?

Yes, Sabo is a good kisser. He is very versatile. His favorite types of kisses are longer, romantic closed-mouth kisses, but he can do everything: playful pecks while cuddling or having tickle fights, passionate make-out sessions where he doesn’t mind dominating or being dominated, he will match your pace and work together with you. His kisses leave you breathless and feeling amazing every single time. He likes holding you close whenever you kiss, his arms around your shoulders, waist, a hand on the back of your head… If he could melt the two of you together, he would. 

The first kiss was almost movie like: a hand on your cheek, a loving stare into your eyes, and then leaning in, closing eyes before your lips collided and you could’ve sworn you felt actual sparks. This all followed by gentle escalation into something more passionate, breaking away only because you needed to breathe properly, feeling weak in the legs. Did I mention Sabo is a great kisser? 

L - love Confession - How would they confess to their s/o?

There’s not really ‘a confession moment’, the relationship just kind of happens. You and Sabo spend increasingly more time together, and you notice that he doesn’t hang up mid denden mushi conversation whenever it is you he’s talking to. You go on some outings, first as friends, but they become more and more intimate until no one can deny that they’re actual dates. The first kiss kind of seals the deal. He asks permission, just to be safe, and from that moment on you’re a couple. Sabo won’t stop you from calling him your boyfriend, but he will need some time to put the proper terms on the relationship himself. He loves you, definitely does, and he’s not one to fool around, there are more important things to do, but he just needs some time to get used to the idea that he is in an actual relationship. 

You’re probably the first to say I love you, and his ‘I love you’ comes later, almost accidentally. He hadn’t planned on saying it, but it just happened and it sealed the deal completely. Once he’s actually used to it, he will say it all the time and will refuse to actually hang up a call before the both of you have said it, no matter the situation. 

M - marriage - Do they want to get married? How do they propose? What would the marriage be like?

Sabo wants to get married, eventually, but right now he’s too busy changing the world for it. Of course, you understand, chances are big that you are a member of the revolutionary army as well, and the work you do just doesn’t really allow for a big marriage. 

However, if you are really serious about your relation, you probably have talked about it. Some of the best quality time moments with Sabo are spent just talking and fantasizing about the future. And all of that talking, it gets Sabo to think. Sure, marriage isn’t really an option right now, but it would be nice if he could already promise you a marriage? 

So on a particularly romantic date, he’ll surprise you by going down on one knee. The ring is simple yet stunning, and after you’ve shouted yes over a hundred times, he’s explaining that while you cannot get married right now, this engagement is a promise to do so the moment you can. Until then, you’re more than happy to call him your fiance. 

X OXO - Are they very affectionate? Do they love to kiss and cuddle?

Sabo is pretty affectionate, but most of that affection is expressed in private. He is not necessarily against PDA, but he has a certain shyness that keeps him from being too lovey-dovey with you in public. He loves holding hands though, or linking arms, or you holding onto an arm as you walk around. 

That being said, whenever there are just the two of you, there are many cuddles and small affections. Sabo is a great kisser, and loads of private time will be spent with the sweetest makeout sessions. He loves cuddling in bed, on the couch or anywhere, and is weak to you sneaking up on him when he’s doing paperwork, wrapping your arms around him from behind and kissing his hair or neck. It’ll give him goosebumps and he’s gonna have a hard time focussing on his work, eventually giving up and at least letting you sit on his lap as he tries to finish up the most necessary papers. Whenever there is a lack of quality time for cuddles and such, which is unfortunately quite often, Sabo is busy as second in command of the revolutionary army, there’s going to be plenty of fleeting touches and quick kisses whenever the two of you cross paths. Just small affections to remind each other that even though you’re busy, apart, and or working, you’re still thinking of each other.

Sabo is a simple man with simple tastes

He wants an s/o who agrees with his views or at least doesn’t agree with the World Government

He’d love it if they went on adventures with him but also wouldn’t mind if they were too nervous too

He’d likely want someone who can handle Luffy even if it’s only for a short period of time

He doesn’t want to bother his s/o with his fears and nightmares and just wants them safe

But if they insist on sticking with him even through that he’s not going to object

He likes causing chaos and if they join in or just watch him he’s going to have the time of his life

Dates can range from dinner to island adventures to destroying government property, whichever they’re both in the mood for really

He needs an s/o who understands his priorities

He’s going to put them, Luffy and the job far before himself

If they can’t accept that they’ll probably have to follow him themselves to keep him out of trouble

Sabo is a cuddler, he can and will find a way to cuddle his s/o when he wants to

He loves to cook together, even if his s/o can’t cook and he can only do the basics, or if his s/o is a master chef and he’s awful in comparison

He tries to pick up trinkets and gifts for his s/o after he finishes a mission

He can’t tell them what he did, but he can at least tell them about the object that caught his eye

i’m not really any good at nsfw headcanons so i’ll just go for sfw haha. and not sure if you’re looking for anything specific but for the sake of narrowing down my thoughts (bc i have….A Lot….of sabo headcanons) i’ll go for some hcs of what i think sabo’d be like in a relationship:

- WOULD stay up talking with partner all night about everything. sometimes things as serious as politics and the gvnt etc, sometimes things as light as ranking the members of the rev army by who has the worst fashion sense

- i hc sabo’s burn scars as being a lot bigger/more numerous than in canon so i think he generally be a bit Nervous the first time he was shirtless around his partner. he’s not suuuper unhappy with his scars, and he knows they’re a symbol that he survived which is good, but also i do think he sees them as unattractive. 

- tbh if his partner wasn’t a revolutionary/willing to join the revolutionaries i think he’d be hesitant to commit just bc he moves around so much and is so hard to tie down. either that or they’d have to be willing to accept that they just aren’t going to be able to see each other that often.

- regardless of whether they’re a revolutionary tho i don’t think sabo could ever date someone ideologically opposed to him, who wasn’t anti-establishment etc. he’s someone whose ideals are very intrinsic to who he is as a person.

- also whoever ends up dating this asshole WILL end up learning everything there is to know about portgas d. ace and monkey d. luffy bc he would NOT shut up about them and would occasionally leave said partner thinking “maybe someday he’ll love me like that” like that one scene from scrubs lmaooo

Most important top tier thing Sanji looks for in an S/O is heart. Warmth. Kindness. Love. Especially if it’s directed towards himself. You could be the most gorgeous, sexiest person in the world and he might be infatuated for awhile, but there wouldn’t be any real love there. Love is a two way street. So he knows he’s found the one when his affections actually get returned or even receives affection that he hadn’t initiated (Those often make him weep out of happiness) 

Someone who appreciates or even loves food, especially his food which isn’t hard. He’s a world class chef, who can make anything delicious. He makes food for anyone who needs it, but usually mostly for his crew (who have a tendency to be rude and demanding about it at points) so anyone who actually thanks him for his work, or even offers to help cook or clean, S/O! you’re gonna kill him he’s gonna die his heart can’t take it!!!!!💖💖💖💖💖

He does have a preference for women, how ever I feel that based on the person’s personality, he’s not completely dead set on ‘women only’. So S/O’s orientation really has no effect on him.

You accept him. All of him. Especially about his past, his childhood, the pain he’s faced. When you go through something like that, you want to pretend like it never happened, like it was a deep dirty secret that everyone would hate you for. He doesn’t necessarily put this at the forethought of his mind because on some level he doesn’t think he’d actually be genuinely loved. But after what happened with his father, learning everything, you tell him and hold him, hold his face, and kiss him, and he weeps. Clinging to you, like you’re the most precious person in the world. He has and would do anything for you, that’s just how he is, but knowing that you could actually love him, all of him, even the parts he hides away due to being too painful to bear, it fills him with an entirely new level of love and affection for his s/o that he didn’t think possible.

You groaned as the alarm blared into the room and woke you up from your slumber, blindly slapping at the nightstand next to your bed to find your phone. You opened one eye so that you could shut off the annoying sound and then you placed the phone on your pillow. You were already awake but still drowsy enough to where falling back asleep sounded amazing at the moment. You frowned at the coldness next to you instead of the usual warmth you were used to. Your lovely boyfriend wasn’t there to greet you like he did every morning since he decided to take a morning shift at the restaurant so he could spend the holiday with you but you still were pouty that he wasn’t there to cuddle you awake. 

Suddenly, the pillow your head was on vibrated relentlessly and you opened both eyes to look at the offending object. You grabbed it reluctantly and looked at the screen, your pouting expression immediately changing into a happy one as you pushed yourself onto your elbows and held the phone securely in both of your hands.

Autumn brings about many things that have reminded me of how you have impacted my life just like the season does.

Autumn brings a sense of comfort and I didn’t think I would find that comfort… until you. I’ve moved around a lot since I was a child, most of the reasons unpleasant. I thought I knew what having a ‘home’ meant. I thought my apartment after moving out of Zeff’s house was home. You remember? That simple apartment with nothing really in it? Just an old couch and a crappy tv. Thinking back on it, the kitchen in that place was my favorite spot while the rest was as dreary as the neighborhood it was in. It wasn’t until after you stayed the night once in that crappy apartment that I realized what home actually meant. You made me feel at home. When you left that morning for work, that apartment was pretty suffocating to be in. I visited you a couple hours later, remember? When I enter our shared apartment, even when you’re not there, I’m at peace because you’re still there, in your small knick knacks and cute decorations that are still up when we first moved in. You are my home and have made me feel like I can be myself with you.

You are a capable, strong, and independent woman but that won’t stop me from feeling like I should protect you from everything that could put you in harm’s way. Be it some sleazy drunkard on the street or that time you spotted a centipede by your car, I’ll always be the one to swoop in and save you! (Or pull you away from the situation before you get yourself into trouble at least). I find myself admiring you and thriving to be the man whose arms you feel the safest in. Truth be told, your arms are the ones I never want to leave. I cannot express how grateful I am that you have been my life preserver on days that I couldn’t keep my head above the water. Know this, darling, as you have been there for me, I will be there for you. To love and support. Always.

And just like a rose, you bloomed into my life and made a new man out of me. Like the petals of the rose, you are soft, delicate, and so many layers beneath you but you also have your thorns, ready to pierce those that get too close without you wanting them to. Sabo is a pretty clear person in a relationship. He tells you when something in bothering him, and he always encourages you to do the same. He loves you and he doesn’t ever want to lose you, so it’s better to talk than to silently get frustrated. It’s one of the reasons that your relationship has lasted so long.

You’re not feeling well? Sabo will drop anything for you. Work? He’s coming home. Out with friends? He’s leaving early. And if he’s with his brothers? All three of them will come to check up on you. You’re family, after all.

Sabo is incredibly supportive. He wants you to feel the pride of reaching any goals you may have on your own so he won’t help you unless you ask, but he’ll always be cheering you on from the side-lines.

Sabo is a surprisingly clean person to share a house with. Dirty laundry goes in the hamper, dirty dishes are put in the sink,… He doesn’t like actually cleaning, but he does try to keep everything looking tidy. Cleaning is usually done together, that way it’s a little more fun and it time passes a lot quicker.

Your house is surprisingly well decorated, courtesy of Sabo. He has a great eye for detail and colour coordination, though he does like to try some crazy combinations every now and then. Sometimes they work, and sometimes they don’t. There’s some steampunk influences in the decorating as well.

His favourite way to relax at home is to crawl into bed together, put a big platter with snacks on top of the blanket, and to watch a movie together with you in bed. It’s comfy and cosy, there’s enough room to comfortably cuddle, and snacks make everything better right? It’s also better in case someone accidently falls asleep.

Sabo will mostly use sappy nicknames for you, hoping they get the sentiment across, and maybe get you a little flustered while he’s at it. Love, dear, baby, honey,… anything works, as long as it’s loving. If you don’t want him to use these in public you’ll have to tell him, because he will use them in front of everyone. He’s proud to have you as his partner.

Expect some romantic gestures at random points. Sometimes Sabo will come home with a bouquet of flowers for you. When he’s some earlier than you, he may prepare a nice, fancy meal for the two of you to eat by candlelight by the time you come home. He may even randomly bring you a small gift. He loves surprising you, and you never see his gestures coming.

Once it’s just the two of you at home, Sabo will steal kisses or hugs and random moments. He’s very affectionate and even a little clingy, but he doesn’t want you to think for a single moment that he doesn’t love you. He also often tells you he loves you, just to make extra sure. And maybe because he likes the look on your face when he says it. Say it back to him, and he will melt.

Cuddles and Movies - Sabo x Reader 

Sabo often works nights, long days, weekends… He’s a busy man and while you do get that and you are super proud of your boyfriend that he’s landed him an executive position at his young age, it makes for a lot of lonely moments for you in your shared apartment. 

Dinner for one, with leftovers for him, feeling him sneak into bed late at night when you’re already asleep, or at least trying to.. these are unfortunately not rare occurrences. 

When he gets a day off, you often go on trips, dates, all the things couples do, just to catch up and make up for the missed time together, it is nice, but sometimes you crave downtime. 

So when Sabo walked in the kitchen as you were contemplating what to eat, you were surprised to see him early, but happy when he said he had left work early just so you could spend some quality time together. No plans, no chores. Just you and him, some takeout food, and a movie. 

The idea seemed like heaven to you. 

You both changed up into pajamas, ordered some takeout, gathered up some blankets, and moved to the living room. 

You put on a lighthearted movie. Some kind of comedy, so it’d be easier to focus on your boyfriend without having to miss the entire plot. 

The movie turned out a good choice because once the food was finished, both of you were snuggling close, stealing kisses and getting comfortable. 

You rested your head on Sabo’s chest, as he placed a kiss on top of your hair, running his fingers through it lazily. 

“We should really do this more often”. 

“We really should, I cannot believe I am so lucky that I can come home to someone like you.” 

You blushed deeply, lifting up your head so you could share a proper kiss. It was so sweet, yet so passionate, filled with all the love the two of you shared. 

You laid down again, focussing on the movie a little bit more before you lost track of the plot, taking one of Sabo’s hands just to hold onto it, while his other hand was now lazily tracing circles on your back and shoulders, the movements relaxing you and making your eyelids feel heavy. 

You yawned, and Sabo chuckled. “Do you want to go to sleep?” 

You shook your head stubbornly but nuzzled even closer to him. You were not going to give up cuddle times with Sabo just because you were tired. 

He turned his focus back on the movie, but your deep and even breaths told him you had lost the battle against sleep. He chuckled to himself, you were insanely cute like that. 

He carefully stood up, lifting you up bridal style to carry you to the bedroom. You stirred awake for a few seconds, only using them to snuggle closer to him as he carried you and eventually as he laid down behind you in bed, gently pulling you closer to him. 

He’d try and get home early more often.

Whether it is when you are getting ready for bed or if you are working on a little craft, or even when he is cooking dinner for you, Sabo would be singing romantic Christmas jingles

It was his way of showing you that he loved you just as much as he loved Christmas!

I feel that Ace wouldn’t be as excited about the Christmas as Sabo is, but he would be excited in his own way lol 

He wouldn’t be the type to cook you an extravagant holiday dinner or to fully decorate the house

I feel he would put lights up on the house if you were to ask him nicely (and do him a favor later on if you know what I mean)

Other than the lights, I feel Ace would actually be pretty excited about trying to find a good Christmas tree for the house

That would probably be the best part for him

Going out into the woods and looking at nature while the snow falls slowly on the leaves and cold ground

He would ask you which you liked the best, and when you would say one, he would get really serious, saying how he thinks a different tree would be better

Basically, Ace is a lumberjack in disguise

Like, I imagine if you were to want to light a fire in the fireplace, Ace would have to be the one to pick the best type of firewood

Just imagine pine wood burning, the smoke smelling of sweet pine

he would be the reason as to why it smelt like Christmas and pine

- someone….fun?? who he can just wrestle (in the literal sense) and eat ten bowls of ramen and just be silly with. 

- someone thoughtful who is willing to have their worldview questioned, and doesn’t insist on believing things just bc tradition or the government-run newspapers say they’re true

- in turn, i think he’d want someone who’d be willing to question him too and call him out on his BS rather than just going along with everything he says/does

- i’ve always hc’ed he tends to like ppl who are older than him too (totally had a massive crush on robin when she was working with them)

- physical strength isn’t a Must but he does think it’s v sexy if you’re a badass

- in general just…someone who cares about the world and its people and has values and things they’re passionate about. that’s the MOST important thing.
