because the brainrot is continuing,  i wanna take a quick look into tai lung’s mind and piece his personality together and realize EXACTLY why he turned out the way he did:
tai lung was abandoned by his biological parents as a baby,  and whilst the reason was and still is unknown,  this is the starting point of his downfall.   although he thought shifu was his biological father for many years,  the truth of his adoption was bound to come out eventually.   tai lung was very conflicted after this.   why did his parents not want him ?   was he not good enough for them ?   these few questions are what started his downward spiral.
because of this information,  tai lung pushed himself to overachieve in everything,  and judging from a quote in the first film,  means pushing his body through such rigorous kung fu training that ‘  his bones cracked  ’.   why did he do this ?   because he wanted to show his father figure that he was good enough.   shifu’s praise and constant pressure of him being the supposed dragon warrior didn’t help either,  as it only fueled his determination,  his emotions twisting and believing he was entitled to the position.   after all,  he put in so much hard work,  why would the scroll not be his ?
tai lung strived to be the best because of the world he was promised.   so when oogway refused him the position of the dragon warrior,  his whole world came crashing down.   once again,  those feelings he’d been holding onto all of his life resurfaced.   that he wasn’t good enough,  that he wasn’t living up to these expectations.   his whole life,  his worth had been based upon his greatness he was supposed to achieve.   and when the title wasn’t his,  this broke tai lung,  causing his violent outburst and whole change in demeanor.
this all could have been avoided if shifu had simply taught tai lung that his worth wasn’t based on his achievements or strength,  but based on who he was as a person and a warrior.   his mind was still fixated on the need to succeed,  the need to be the best,  to make his father proud of him so he would never loose another parental figure ever again.
however,  tai lung was too far gone after the incident,  his entire psyche had changed after building up for so many years.   if he wasn’t going to be given the life he was promised,  then he’d simply take it by force   ...

H: It feels like you have a screw loose a little bit.
K: Yes. Something’s hitting me between the eyeballs for sure.
H: Mind if I sit? (gestures to the chair)
K: Not at all. Thanks for answering my call.
H: (sits and shifts to get comfortable) I knew this was going to happen the moment you started watching that specific show. That’s why I showed you the Joker.
K: I think the Joker is more based on schizophrenia or…something. I’m no professional when it comes to this stuff.
H: No. But it still got your attention. I would have come in for this even without the call.
K: I honestly don’t know what to ask about it on this sort of…platform or in this sort of way.
H: Maybe instead of asking…let’s just have a conversation between friends who haven’t seen each other in a while.
K: For sure. (taking a big breath) I guess, from a spirit’s perspective, how is an individual with dissociative identity disorder seen?
H: Let’s call it like…it used to be called so we can be very transparent. Some people don’t know the new term.
K: Okay. How are people with multiple personality disorder seen by Spirit?
H: They are seen as the most…(thinks for the words) complex people that have an extremely difficult road to travel. They are seen as strength but are also seen as people that need to be given that strength from something, that can’t be seen, to live a journey with that disorder. To live that whole life.
He’s showing me suicide.
K: Meaning, ending their own lives is a possibility?
H: Yes. Suicide rates are really high.
K: Okay. First things first, I’m not here to put a spiritual or hippie perspective on something that is a HUGE disorder that needs to be respected on all levels. Anyone suffering from a mental disorder or break needs respect and compassion.
H: For sure. There’s no argument from me.
K: The mentality or the…assumption that I’m getting, from reaching in and pulling from “spiritual communities” (finger quote) is that the disorder is part of a past life…past lives coming through to help the life in this now moment living a very difficult situation. Thoughts on that?
H: (shakes his head no) I can’t agree with that. An individual holds within them different aspects of a whole person. People call these aspects personalities and personalities usually show as one thing. (shows one finger) With multiple personality disorder, those aspects or those personalities of the one person become faces. The faces come when a person’s psyche fragments and breaks into those faces…the individual pieces. Sometimes, when trauma happens, a person doesn’t feel like they are someone that can defend…that they are someone that can be vulnerable…that they can be someone who’s personable and friendly towards others because what caused the break in the first place was something that was so traumatic that all they can identify with is being scared…terrified. They close in on themselves so they can’t be seen. The faces of the personality traits that they still carry with them…emerge from the broken pieces of their mind and come with different faces because at that time of that complete fragmented whole, that person can’t see themselves as that personality trait…it doesn’t recognize themselves as something different so it even hides away from that trait or that personality as well.
K: Okay. This is huge.
H: To label something…caused from a psychotic break as something that is coming from a past life…isn’t fair or doesn’t respect what has happened to this person that needs to create these faces from fragmented pieces caused by horrifying circumstances just to survive.
K: Do the individuals that have this break…where bits of themselves become fragmented…are they aware that it’s happened?
H: No. Not usually. Again…it’s about survival and protecting themselves.
K: From a spirit’s perspective, can you share with me…what spirit sees?
H: Through a guardian’s or guides eyes?
K: Yes.
H: (thinks for a moment) For a person with multiple personality disorder, there is a guide…a guardian for each personality.
K: No way.
H: Yes. It’s because the person…who has been fragmented into all these internal individuals, believes that they are different people so guides come in for these different people because when a person with the disorder believes that, the guides or guardians see that as well and until the personalities can be integrated into the main frame…so to speak, there is a guide for every personality that shows itself. The person who is living with multiple personality disorder…the complexity of that is so huge that it comes with a lot…from our side, that attempts to hold it all together until that point where it can all integrate as one whole.
K: Wow.
H: These people who live with this disorder are seen as the…whole spirit of one person that is fragmented into different souls living different lives…where I am.(moves his hands in a way that he’s showing multiple piles of things) And this is really a far-out perspective and it’s not really for everyone but I have to tell it like it is.
K: For sure.
H: You know how you have the one whole…like when a person dies, it joins the whole of them and as a spirit, we can see those aspects of our higher selves that are living these various lives all at the same time?
K: Yes.
H: Some of those aspects of that whole are living like…addicts…like billionaires…like kids picking garbage…like slaves…like royalty…all at the same time within different timelines.
K: Yes.
H: That is what this person, living with multiple personality disorder, is doing as they are living as one soul.
K: So, the fragmented higher self…that can handle all that splitting up into different souls living different lives is also living as a soul that is fragmented into different individuals in one life.
H: Exactly.
K: Bejeebers.
H: (grins) That’s a new one.
K: It’s just so convoluted.
H: I know. If the person understood that they had all these personalities…if they could see it from where I’m standing…sitting (grins) right now, they could see how deep this goes or how high this goes.
K: For real. I see that. The visions that you’re showing me are so intricate and intense. It’s like this higher self is holding the center of all these souls that are living these lives all at the same time on different timelines but is also holding this soul who is doing the exact same thing in the one life.
H: And that’s why there are guides and guardians for each individual fragmented personality because the soul is looking at them as different people that are helping them out and to keep that from breaking even more…these guides and guardians are holding that center the best they can even if it means supporting the delusions for a little bit.
K: Does the individual come into the life…choose the life of someone that has MPD, understanding what’s about to take place?
H: Yes.
K: Is it always trauma that fragments the psyche?
H: Yes. Heavy trauma. I have seen it through sexual abuse. I have seen it through intense violence. I have seen it happen with kids that witness horrifying events around them, but they are close to like…murder or some sort of unexpected incident…something horrifying to a person who’s close to them.
K: Does it always start in kids?
H: Yes. It usually starts in kids that are very young. It’s pretty disturbing, but I’m going to be honest that the trauma can happen in kids as young as three years old when they sort of know something is really scary and it can be recognized as scary…frightening. Three is usually that turning point where a child can understand between trust…fear…without it being too much like just a monster under the bed type of situation.
K: Three years old???
H: Unfortunately, yes.
K: All at once?
H: The personalities begin to show themselves when they’re needed. It can fragment in half…then in quarters…then in eighths. Whatever the person needs, to cope with what has happened. If there is a one-time trauma…There are less personalities than…let’s say if there were multiple traumas.
K: And then a guide or a guardian come in with each split?
H: Yes.
K: Does a guardian or a guide take on more than one split?
H: No. It’s one on one. You could…like when a child is in a children’s hospital…it’s usually one nurse per child.
K: What kind of guardian takes over the individual that has fragmented?
H: I will be completely honest with you…and this might sound a little…holy shit. I have seen…more times than not…that the individual who has suffered that much trauma that the soul…not only the mind but the soul fragments…breaks like a mirror…they are guarded by the archangel realms.
K: (feel the weight of his words on my heart) Wow. Like constantly?
H: Constantly.
K: Like…any person sometimes calls in AA Michael or Raphael…those are just examples…
H: Yeah.
K: When they need an extra boost.
H: Yes.
K: But these individuals have full time archangels all the time?
H: Absolutely. In times of war, the archangels step in. This isn’t a war on the outside. This is a war on the inside.
K: For sure. What does it look like when a personality takes over. What do you see?
H: Do you remember when you helped that girl out? She came as a horse because she felt safer being a horse or she wanted to be a horse because horses meant freedom and she died…sort of pretending to be the horse so when you connected with her…you saw the horse first?
K: I do.
H: When I look at the center of the break…the actual soul that’s fragmented, I see what they’re trying to hold onto about themselves or what they wish they could be so they can escape what they’re going through. I see a lot of birds…wings because they want to fly away. A lot of the time I see birds when there are thoughts of suicide.
K: (getting emotional) Okay.
H: There are times that I see that three or four year old instead of the twenty-five or…even forty year old.
K: Sure.
H: Because they haven’t allowed themselves to grow up…the other fragmented parts of themselves have, in different ways and with different faces and different bodies…male or female, but that core individual is still the same age they were when they were traumatized.
K: Okay…wait a second. I am being shown a man who has absolutely no idea that they have multiple personalities.
H: Describe it.
K: They’re married. They have kids. They’re living like the normal…guy down the block with the normal career, family, home…blah blah blah…
H: Yes.
K: But it’s not really them. It’s a personality that they don’t realize they have.
H: Yeah.
K: That’s terrifying! Because at some point…something will trigger that trauma.
H: Yes. The triggers that snap the memory of trauma into place will trigger a personality to come out of hiding.
K: How do other people see the person who has multiple personality disorder but doesn’t know it? No one knows.
H: Sometimes they can be seen as erratic. Sometimes they can be seen as…temperamental. Uh…when it’s a good time, they are the life of the party. It really depends but honestly, others will think that they can’t pin them down. That one day they’re this and the other day they’re this but for some reason…it all works and there’s nothing that seems out of place until it becomes too much.
K: Becomes erratic.
H: Yes. Because at some point, it does become erratic…depending on how many personalities wake up.
K: Wow. Then what can be a trigger?
H: There are simple things. It can take the form of PTSD so…a car backfiring for example. That’s pretty general. Let me get more specific. Um…(thinks) let’s say this person has no memory of any abuse from such a young age because they shut it off and a personality has taken over to protect that memory from coming to light.
K: Okay.
H: And this person goes to a family reunion or a wedding and the person that was the perpetrator, shows up.
K: Yes.
H: That’s a trigger. Seeing the person. Or…there’s an event and there’s a child that’s sitting on someone’s lap…
He feels my emotion and stops for second.
H: Sorry, Kim.
K: Totally okay. Just difficult to see.
H: Seeing the kid in the lap can trigger a memory of abuse but one of the personalities that sort of…is the face to that reaction…will be triggered to come out…to protect the person from that memory.
K: Okay.
H: At some point…part of the journey of these people is to have these secrets come out. This storyline has to emerge from within. There’s only so much a brain can hold before the dam bursts.
K: For sure.
H: And that’s when the real work starts taking place, but the real work isn’t just done with the individual that was traumatized. It is a shared job between the seen and the unseen because what’s being pulled back into one personality…is unseen. It’s unseen by everyone except the person living it. Whether the person knows it or not…they have…they have a lot of help from the unseen…us…(gestures to himself).
K: Where do the faces come from that these personalities form as?
H: That’s a tough one. Sometimes it’s people passing by and the brain of the child will take a snapshot of the face because the face is something that the child believes could be this personality. Um…sometimes they take the face of the actual guide or guardian that’s involved…a face from a dream…
K: I believe that.
H: Sometimes it’s like… a painting…a drawing. Sometimes it’s just black…a face that is just black that can’t be seen. These are usually the darker personalities that the child is scared of and just like a child covers their eyes to what they don’t want to see in the everyday…they will close their eyes to the personalities that scare them. These are usually the shadows…people can relate to shadows because we all have them but these shadows…are the monsters under the bed…the real trauma that created the fragmented pieces to begin with. It’s what comes to the forefront when the person is triggered by seeing someone for the first time since abuse happened or seeing an action that reminded them of the trauma…the abuse.
K: Can dreams be triggers as well?
H: Yes. Dreams can be triggers as well. The dream state can be a place where a person goes to play. But it can also be a place where people need to heal and what needs to be healed or worked through will show up in dreams so a person that has been that traumatized will…maybe dream of the trauma at some point in their life…especially if life is taking a turn…an unexpected turn.
K: Sure.
H: A big part of dreaming is to work through things that a person can’t work through or doesn’t want to work through in their waking life. So, they sleep and they dream and they go into a sort of therapy situation in the dream state because now is the time to take a look at fears or insecurities or…wrong-doings that have happened in their physical state and the only safe way to work through those situations is in the dream state.
K: Huh. (thinking)
H: What?
K: I see a parallel there.
H: Yeah.
K: Because…there are some people who are lucky enough to be able to work through things in their dream state but there are some people who aren’t so lucky and they work through things in their waking life by their mind becoming fragmented.
H: Yes. It’s a survival response. They need to survive somehow, and breaking is the easiest and safest way to do that in that moment but at some point…all the pieces need to come back together in wholeness just like they do when someone has lived their life and it’s that time to transition back to their higher self…to their wholeness.
K: On some level, do people with this disorder know that they will become whole in the after life and that’s why suicide ideation comes into play?
H: (shakes his head no) Suicide ideation comes into play when they want to escape what’s happening because they’ve lost control, they’re tired and they don’t believe anything will be normal and they just want quiet. They just want the quiet.
K: Different than addicts.
H: Addicts want the quiet, but they also want to feel numb. Individuals with multiple personality disorder are probably the most in touch with their feelings…their emotions…their love than anyone else walking that planet. They are the most creative. They thrive with a creative outlet because it’s that inner child that gets to play. Children love creativity and that’s what connects them back to innocence…to a time where they didn’t have any fears. It’s the creativity. I don’t think I have ever seen anyone so imaginative or creative than someone with multiple personality disorder. They are over-the-top empathetic too which…as children…makes them more susceptible to being manipulated.
K: Empaths…those who are very compassionate…especially to others…do you think they can be easily manipulated into…service…in ways that are even detrimental to their mental health?
H: Yes. Absolutely. I do see that all the time and these kids become adults…have little to no boundaries and this trait follows them into adulthood and they can…break. I’m not saying that all people who are empaths or have a high ability of compassion get multiple personality disorder, but I do see a lot of them…having some sort of emotional…mental issue as adults.
K: For sure. Absolutely.
H: And that’s when there is a call for help to more of the unseen, that the new age community would call guides or angels, to point them in a direction that they can receive help and education on self-love and personal boundaries…a healthy way of saying no.
K: I see that. I feel that at a very deep level.
H: I know. The thing is…not all children who suffer from abuse fragment in a way that can be dissociative. But…they do fragment…they do break. It’s only seen throughout their lives in different ways like…what kind of student they’re like or who they choose to hang out with…what friends they keep. Who they marry…what jobs or careers they do. It all serves that empathetic nature until they learn what healthy boundaries are.
K: (raise my hand) Still learning them. I take full responsibility for learning that sort of later in life.
H: I don’t agree. I think you learn those things just when they become the most important so a person can actually get up and walk straight instead of being on their knees all the time serving the living and the dead.
K: Ha! Good one.
H: I mean…we don’t make light of anyone’s situation or what they’re going through. Multiple personality disorder is just one of those things that starts from a really shitty event…these people need care…compassion…understanding…someone who can elbow their way through a crowd of protectors to get to the child and to start raising them up the way any parent should have done it in the first place.
K: But sometimes the trauma isn’t with someone in the family.
H: Most times…the family knows. Most times, it is because they’re a repeat offender.
K: That is the saddest statement, Heath.
H: To put it into perspective…(gets very serious) your family knew about your mother. They chose to disregard the severity of it and make excuses. Someone broke and it took a really long time to put the pieces back together.
K: My situation is not the same.
H: No. It isn’t but you can see some parallels to why a child isn’t protected. Because the adults around the child don’t want to admit or see that trauma is happening or heal themselves from the same sort of trauma. Same goes for a child that suffers from tremendous physical, mental and sexual abuse. Same goes.
He feels a bit angry when he says that…protective angry.
K: I get it. I see the parallels. I also see a lot of tunnels with a lot of light at the end of them.
H: There always is. But it’s not always easy to get to that light and it doesn’t always happen.
K: I know.
H: But when someone with multiple personality disorder finds that light at the end of the tunnel and evolves through all that darkness and noise from voices that they created to protect their innocence…it’s a celebration. It really is.
K: For sure. When there are breakthroughs…like if I watch a breakthrough or I read about one…I celebrate. It’s usually a happy cry…happy tears.
H: I happy cry a lot and I’m not ashamed to admit it because we watch and we get so…hopeful and when the tiniest win happens…we celebrate. I celebrate.
K: I can feel that. This is a huge topic and I just really wanted to touch on it so thank you for your thoughts and sharing what you see with it. I really appreciate you taking the call and taking the time to chat with me about it.
H: I’m happy to give some sort of perspective…what I see on it. I like doing these talks. It’s good to see you doing this stuff again.
K: I do what I can. I offer what I can. It’s been lovely to connect with you again.
H: Same. It’s been good seeing you again. Thanks, Kim. Don’t be a stranger.
K: I try not to.
H: See you. We’ll talk later.
K: Love you, Heath.
H: I love you, Kim. Take care.
K: Bye.
Ugh! Heavy conversation for me. Chat soon!

Mid-continuum VS. Median
Disclaimer: This is a post covering a deep dive of archived events that took place in the past. DO NOT harass or send hate towards anyone mentioned.
Introduction
Mid-continuum was an early label created on the Internet sometime in 1996 by a plural named Vickis. Many individuals, both dissociative and non-dissociative, felt drawn to this term and it became quite popular. Unfortunately, it also ended up grabbing the attention of the anti-DID/OSDD movement. Later in the 2000′s, an anti-DID/OSDD organization coined the term median to replace mid-continuum. Median became more popularized, and mid-continuum subsequently fell out of usage. This post will be going over what I discovered while deep diving Internet archives regarding this subject.
The Precursor to Mid-continuum
In 1997 and earlier, many of the DID-focused websites at the time, such as Astraea’s Web, were spreading around a psychological model known as the dissociative spectrum (or continuum). This older model was conceptualized by Braun in 1988. His model suggested that dissociation lay on a continuum from normal experiences (daydreaming, zoning out, etc.) all the way to polyfragmented DID.
Archive of article by Joan A. Turkus, M.D. (1997)
Proof that this article was shared on Astraea’s Web.
Note for readers: Sources on this post do not reflect up-to-date research and treatment on dissociative disorders.
Tumblr media
What was the Mid-continuum?
1. It was based off of the psychological model.
At the time, many individuals in the dissociative community felt drawn to Braun’s dissociative continuum model. One individual in particular, named Vickis, came up with a term for people who identified somewhere in the middle of this continuum. They called it mid-continuum dissociation or just mid-continuum for short. They called those who identified under the label mid-continuum dissociatives. Vickis eventually created a webpage dedicated to this concept called the Wonderful World of the MidContinuum.
Tumblr media
2. It was created for dissociative folks.
It was sometime in 1997 when Vickis announced their new webpage to alt.support.dissociation, a Usenet group that was created for people with dissociative disorders. In their message, they stated that mid-continuum folks were dissociative folks who did not fit all of the DID criteria.
You can find an archive of this message here.
You can find an archive of the mid-continuum webpage here.
Tumblr media
On their webpage, Vickis explained that mid-continuum was a label for anyone who felt like they had dissociated parts and fell somewhere in the middle on the dissociative continuum model. A quote from the homepage:
“Everyone dissociates. At one end of the dissociative continuum is ‘normal’ or ‘common’ dissociation that nearly everyone engages in[...] At the other end are the behaviors that characterize ‘classical’ multiples, who may have large numbers of very distinct insiders with little internal communication, serious difficulties with time loss, amnesia, and so on.
Between these two extremes, there is a lot of gray. Ranging from having different ‘roles’ that you live out in different situations, to having an ‘inner child’ or ‘inner children’ with varying degrees of separateness, to having ‘ego states,’ ‘parts’ or ‘fragments’ that don't seem to be whole people, to having some but not all of the diagnostic criteria for what is now known as DID[...]”
3. It was created out of respect for folks with DID.
At the time of mid-continuum’s coinage, the DID diagnosis was still usually called MPD or multiplicity in the online dissociative community. Several people, including Vickis, believed that it was disrespectful to call themselves multiple if they didn’t have DID. This seemed to be another reason why Vickis coined the mid-continuum. They believed that calling their own experiences multiplicity would minimize the struggles of those who experienced DID.
From their essay on the subject (archive here):
“[...] someone elsewhere in this thread said something like ‘I don't want to call myself multiple because I don't want to minimize the sufferings of those who are really multiple’. And I can really relate to that. That's why I say I'm not-quite-multiple usually. Because I don't lose time and never have, I can't possibly know what that's like... I don't have barriers that prevent communication between parts... I don't have the struggles that people who are further down the continuum from me have, and I would never want to minimize their issues by claiming that my own are the same.”
4. Mid-continuum folks often had OSDD.
A lot of Vickis’ writing on the mid-continuum reminds me of OSDD (formerly DDNOS). It makes me wonder why they did not mention it more. The only mention I could find was made in 1999, where Vickis offhandedly expressed that mid-continuum folks usually ended up diagnosed with OSDD if seeking a diagnosis. (X) It’s likely that they didn’t mention it more because there wasn’t a lot of recognition for the disorder back then, and Vickis also seemed to prefer less clinical labels for themself.
The Precursor to Median
Over several years, mid-continuum had gained quite a bit of popularity across the Internet. Many anti-psych websites began to take issue with this due to mid-continuum’s origins. For example, many psych-related words such as DID, alter, and host could be found listed as derogatory to empowered and natural multiples on Dark Personalities. (X) Mid-continuum was unfortunately subjected to this as well. “Since many people feel the idea of a continuum to be inaccurate, many are seeking a new term instead of mid-continuum,” Dark Personalities stated. It wouldn’t be long before some anti-psyches tackled this challenge.
What was Median?
1.  It was created to replace mid-continuum.
Tumblr media
In 2003, the natural multiplicity organizations Lancers & Pavilion decided to take action. (Read my post on Lancers/Pavilion here.) They stated that it was a mistake for the mid-continuum to be based on psychology and dissociation. (X) Furthermore, they seemed to be a bit perturbed that Vickis believed multiplicity was exclusively caused by trauma. (X) As a way to right what they saw as wrong, they came up with the term median to replace mid-continuum. (X)
On the Pavilion website, Astraea’s Web wrote an essay on the midcontinuum and why they came up with the median label to replace it. You can read that essay here. This excerpt sticks out to me the most:
“It's important to allow the concept to be inclusive of everyone who fits, regardless of past abuse history or origins, much as is currently being done for 'multiplicity.' With its roots in the abuse-dissociation model, midcontinuum is too limiting; it is no longer useful to us. Median creates a certain measure of psychological distance and gives the concept a fresh start, without the dissociative baggage of the past, and embraces all who feel they are more than one.”
To summarize, mid-continuum was a label that was created by dissociative folks for dissociative folks. Non-dissociative anti-psychs decided to replace it because it wasn’t useful or inclusive enough for them, and it was too psychological. That’s why they came up with median.
2. It was created to exclude people with DID/OSDD.
The Lancers/Pavilion did not intend for people with dissociative disorders to use the median label. Their philosophy was that people with DID/OSDD could not actually be plural, multiple, or median. The organizations believed that only “functional” and “non-disordered” individuals could be plural, multiple, or median. If a person with DID/OSDD was able to function up to their standards, then Lancers/Pavilion considered the person to no longer have DID/OSDD.
More can be read here.
And also here.
Tumblr media
3. It was meant to be more vague than mid-continuum.
Unlike the mid-continuum, which viewed plurality on a psychologically-backed linear continuum, the organizations presented plurality as a more loose idea. From the archived essay on Pavilion:
“Midcontinuum is helpful, but it's rather too limiting. One can dispense with the dissociation bits at once, but you're still left with plurality as a linear continuum, with singlethood at one end and multiplicity at the other. The concept is thus two-dimensional.
It's probably much more realistic, given social and personal diversity, to think of plurality as a sphere, with a potentially infinite number of points; and, to remember that at different times in one's life, one may reside at any of those points, or at no fixed abode. Postmodernist notions of identity as fluid and nonlinear may be helpful in understanding this. If you experience yourself as selves, but feel that your others are not independent of yourself, you can probably describe yourself as median.”
Their descriptions of plurality and medianhood are extremely vague and unclear. Due to all of this, it’s no wonder to me that people with DID/OSDD ended up identifying with the concept anyways, despite the organizations’ intentions.
Median & OSDD
Before ending this post, I wanted to mention that I have met many folks with OSDD who have previously identified as median systems due to the misconception that it was a synonym for OSDD. I remember, when I first joined the online community, someone told me that “median system” was actually coined by people with OSDD. As you can read above, this definitely isn’t true. If you have OSDD and you identify as median, that’s fine, but I still occasionally see people spreading misinformation about it which is why I felt that it was important to include this note here!

Sweet as marshmallows
Pairing: Dean x Male!Reader
Summary: Things get heated between you and the elder hunter after a dangerous Wendigo hunt.
Word Count: 1,400+
Warnings: Smut, angst
Author’s Note: The shot is based on this request. I would love a dean x male reader and if sam wanted to join in/some wincest occurred, I wouldn’t be mad. I’m thinking reader has been a longtime friend and fellow hunter. They’ve all just finished a hunt and either dean or reader had a close call which leads to an unplanned and heated kiss in the aftermath when adrenaline is still running high. Whether it leads to a declaration of feelings or they agree to be fuck buddies (although one of them is secretly pining) is fine with me. Enjoy and shower it with love.
Tumblr media
You ran further and further into the forest. Your footsteps echoed muffled on the soft ground. The adrenaline pumped through your veins and again and again you looked back frantically. But you could not see it. Your foot got stuck on a protruding root and you almost fell, but caught yourself in the last moment.
"Come on!" shouted Dean, who had already arrived at the safe circle. Sam reached him seconds later and your feet moved faster. "Hurry up!" yelled Dean, whose gaze was written in panic. Your lungs screamed for oxygen but you didn't allow yourself a break. One pause, one little mistake and you'd be sentenced to death. You heard a growl nearby, then a human laugh and your hand rushed to the knife that was jingling in your belt. The knife would not hurt it. It was useless. You saw Dean's eyes widen and he aimed his shotgun at something over your shoulder. Immediately, Sam ripped the gun out of his brother's hand. "You're just making it mad!" hissed Sam, who unloaded the gun. At that exact moment you slipped inside the safety circle. Dean grabbed you by the hand and pulled you back to your feet. Your chest slammed into his and he smiled.
"Hey there, mate." Dean winked at you. You laughed with relief. The deep laugh rumbled in your chest. Then you took a few steps away from the older hunter to put some distance between you. Sam drew new runes on the floor in the meantime. You felt the presence of the dark being lurking out there in the shadows. The Wendigo was just waiting for one of you to make the first mistake. It enjoyed playing with your psyche. The bushes rushed and something scurried around your camp so quickly that not even the flickering flames of the fire could catch it. Your heart was still beating in your throat.
"At least we found the bastard's hiding place now!" Dean growled grimly as he sat down by the fire and stared into the flames. The reddish glow of the flames illuminated his face in the dark. It cast long shadows over his features. You sat down next to him and looked up at the sky full of glimmering stars. It would have been almost romantic, had you not been in serious danger. "Tomorrow we'll get it!" you muttered, and Dean fixed you with his apple-green eyes that shimmered in the dark like two emeralds. Sam sat down across from you and nodded his head. "Damn right."
Your gaze wandered out into the depths of the dark woods in the middle of the Rocky Mountains. Somewhere out there, the wendigo lay in wait for its next victim. You couldn't see it in the dark, but you knew it was there. The wind rustled through the leaves and the trees rushed ominously above your heads. Sam yawned and smacked softly. "Do we have any marshmallows?" Dean asked and looked at his little brother hopefully. You rummaged in your pocket and threw him an unopened package and he beamed. "Never come unprepared, Dean." You winked at him slyly and he laughed while Sam rolled his eyes because of your dirty puns but at his lips tugged a grin as well.
"I'll call it a night, guys," Sam said, yawning like a confirmation. "Night, Sam," you said and he smiled warmly at you. Dean paid no attention to him but happily stuck as many marshmallows as possible on a stick he'd found in the brush. Sam moved the zipper of his tent and you heard the rustling of sheets followed by a soft snoring a few minutes later. You stared into the flames. Dean's sudden cursing ripped you from your thoughts. You had to laugh at the sight because Dean had stuffed as many marshmallows as possible in his mouth. His cheeks were full and he looked like a hamster. "Damn, that shit's hot." he cursed muffled by the marshmallows in his mouth. His lips glistened from the sugar and white spurts were covering them. Immediately you wondered how his lips would look stretched around your cock with your white spurts on his lips.
He saw your look and tapped with one hand on the free spot next to him. Immediately you slid closer and put your head on his shoulder. "Man, thought I'd loose you out there, pookie bear." You snorted at his nickname for you. "I'm not that easy to get rid off, De." You mumbled and started to cover his neck in feathery kisses. The fire crackled. "Damn right. You're mine." Goose bumps ran down your body and he turned his head towards you. His eyes locked on you intensely and the fire gleamed at him from the side. His eyes moved to your mouth and his tongue ran lazily across his lips. Your fingers stroked the rough stubble that shadowed his cheeks. He leaned into the touch.
Greedily, his lips found yours and your teeth clashed against each other. It was a wild mixture of tongues, lips and teeth. You both struggled for dominance for a moment, then Dean gave in. Even though he was always very dominant on the outside, he liked to give up control and responsibility. You knew that, and you liked to take advantage of it. Gently you bit his lower lip and he sighed as your tongue apologetically stroked his lips. Immediately you took the opportunity and your tongue entered his mouth while your fingers dug into his short blond strands. Dean still tasted sweet after the sugar of the marshmallows.
Gently he pushed you and you lay under him. He moved above you and you groaned as his hand made its way to the bulge in your jeans. Your hands skillfully opened the buttons of his plaid shirt. Then you stroked his belly and he shivered under your touch. Soon his fingers found the button of your pants and opened them. As he prepared you, his lips never left yours. Only after one groan from you and a second finger from him did his lips leave yours and wander across your face. Soon you could not wait any longer and pulled impatiently at his belt. He laughed at your impatience.
"Eager, are we?" he asked laughing and you cried out as his fingers left your body. You heard the sound of his belt hitting the forest floor and the sound of his zipper. The anticipation filled your whole body and you couldn't wait any longer. Dean jerked his cock and made you wait. Just when you thought you couldn't stand this torture anymore, you felt his velvety tip on your asshole. Then he penetrated you and stretched you pleasantly. You relished in the feeling of his hard and thick cock in your tight hole. He gave you some time to get used to him before he finally moved. You threw your head back and moaned deeply, your muscles tightened around Dean. He too growled deeply and his chest vibrated from the deep noise under your fingers.
"So tight." whined Dean. You gasped as he started to pound into your tight heat. The muscles in his jaw were set tight and he had to hold on to himself so he wouldn't come too early. The twitch of your muscles around his cock made it hard for him. You both gasped with effort and his hot breath stroked your lips before he shut your mouth again with his. More and more quickly his thrusts became. With each thrust he brought you closer to the edge of your orgasm. You moaned as his hand went between your sweaty bodies and embraced your hard cock that bounced up and down with every thrust. You gasped in surprise as he bit your lip and his thumb simultaneously spread the pre-cum from your slit over the swollen head of your cock. His next thrust pushed you over the edge and your orgasm hit you so hard that you saw stars. Trembling and shaking you came undone beneath his hot body. His hand jerked you through your orgasm and you cried out as your cum spurted over your bellies. Your muscles clenched deliciously around Dean and he threw his head back in the neck as he changed his pace one last time. His thrusts grew erratic and he lost his rhythm when he pounded into you mercilessly.
You felt his cock twitching inside you, then he moaned and collapsed as soon as his hot load coated your insides. He caught himself in the last moment. You were both trying to catch your breath as he pulled you close to his body. Your head lay on his heaving chest. While being in your post coital bliss you felt safe in his arms. No matter what, Dean would always protect you. You were sure of that.
Dean spread open-mouthed kisses on your damp skin and you shuddered. "That was amazing." He mumbled and his lips lazily grazed your ear. "Beyond amazing." You agreed, then you rolled over so you were spooning him. You pulled him close because you knew that Dean loved to be the little spoon sometimes. "Thank you, babe." You mumbled and spread kisses on his bare shoulder. He smiled at you lazily the he sighed and his fingers traced over your arm wrapped around his chest. "I wish it could always be like this. I wish it wasn't so damn dangerous out there. The world a little less dark. I'm tired of always losing," he said, looking up at the stars. The fire was almost gone and only the embers were left glowing. "So tonight you better stop and rebuild all your ruins, because peace and trust can win the day despite all your losing." You whispered into his ear while the cool wind of the forest gave your damp bodies goosebumps. You nudged closer as the wind rustled through the trees.
"Did you just quote Led Zeppelin?" he asked and looked at you in surprise. "Yeah." Your fingers traced the outlines of his muscles. A grin spread across Dean's face. "Oh, God, I love you!" Then he widened his eyes in horror. "I- I no - sorry - I meant that-" he stuttered. But your thumb ran across his swollen lips and he fell silent. You smiled as you bent down and kissed him.
"It's okay, Dean. I love you too." You breathed against his lips.

The Universe Doesn’t Give a Shit About You
Tumblr media
You know, one thing that has become seriously irritating nowadays, is this whole “the universe is doing something for you” shtick, that’s apparently become the latest favorite new age meme, currently making it’s rounds on the internets. Take a look at this stuff.
(A variety of examples are shown.)
And that’s just a small sampling. And this isn’t just a case of a few isolated incidents. This type of sentiment is everywhere now; seemingly having become all the rage among many aspiring spiritual truth seekers.
“Depressed? Cheer up. The universe is horny for you!”
By first appearances, making references to the universe seems to reflect a more scientifically based position, although, I don’t think these seekers really mean it in a scientific way. Essentially, these new age universe worshippers are just former theists, who probably finally realized the complete absurdity of that position, and so now, have shifted their heels over to pantheism; that is, a doctrine which identifies god with the universe, or regards the universe as a manifestation of god; which is basically a veneration of nature. And, as we all know, mother nature is pretty much a cold, predatory, discriminating bitch; so I’m not sure why anyone would associate nature with a benevolent god.
I know, god loves you so much, he allows evil to rack you to the core on purpose. It’s a test, right? It’s all part of his divine plan. God just wants to see if you will curse his name when he makes times get incredibly tough. It’s a Job type of deal. He’s forcing you into a position of struggle and suffering, all so he can wage a bet with the devil over whether or not you will be disobedient. Isn’t that just so cool of him? Now you get to show god just how loyal and subservient you are to him, despite all the abuses he hurls at you! That’s such an enviable position! The one true god loves you so much, he tortures you as a demonstration of just how much you worship and obey him. That’s what love is. And just think of how lucky you are! He picked *you* as a guinea pig in his twisted self aggrandizing experiment! He chose YOU! This would make such a great reality TV show!
Heaven and Hell productions, presents...
“The God Fucks Me Factor.”
Ah yes, it would be, so nice. Because god takes great pride in your blind obedience, you know. And he’s a very jealous god, if you can believe it. So what’s going on inside your head is of supreme importance him! You must think that you believe in him, then confess it with thy lips, and then go down, and perform some lip service on the godhead. You should show great pride in being a slave. It’s a feather in god’s cap. And now, can be more fully realized with the advent of pantheism. It’s theism, with a pan. It’s pantheism.
Famous 17th century Dutch philosopher Baruch Spinoza was really captivated by the idea of pantheism, and his many philosophical contemplations on the subject is largely responsible for ushering the position into modern day prominence. Pantheists do not celebrate a distinct personal or anthropomorphic god, but rather, accept all gods into worship, because they view god as everything. An ideological stance that can become quite problematic, to say the least.
Throughout history, pantheism has been a belief system that, in one form or another, tended to be the most common default faith practice among the many various indigenous peoples from around the globe. It’s the same ideologic methodology that the pagans of Europe used to practice; that is, before Rome came along and forced Christianity deep down into every person’s every available orifice. And you should always keep this historical fact in the forefront of your mind. Your Abrahamic belief system is the result of a Roman soldier raping someone’s great great great great grandma and grandpa with a big middle eastern theological strap-on dildo. Don’t you ever forget that. Your whole modern day spiritual life was originally founded on a theological psych-rape. Your precious sacred religion was passed down to you through your family being raped. And it’s no coincidence that Rome, an arrogant empire dead-set on conquering the entire world, found Christianity to be quite compatible with their grandiose ambitions. And that should tell you something about the core fabric of the Abrahamic cult religions.
So, pantheists believe that god is everything. All inclusive, with no exceptions. No standards or filter necessary. This includes every kind of concept; even the stupid ideas and majestic fantasies, floating around inside our heads. And this also includes every kind of object or person to have ever existed, no matter who or what they are. This means they are ALL god, whether it be a virus, a parasite or an infectious bacteria, whether it be a machine gun, cocaine or a dildo, whether John Wayne Gacy, the unabomber or Adolf Hitler, they are all but different forms of an ambiguous enigmatic god! He’s so complex, you can’t even fathom him. He’s got value and purpose so profoundly beyond your puny logic, you can’t even question him.
And not only is every kind of object or person a manifestation of god, but guess what? With pantheism, ALL the different gods, are god as well. It’s not that some gods are valid, and some gods are not, or that maybe all gods are completely full of shit, no! In fact, it actually quite the opposite, I’m afraid. Now, all different gods are actually the one same god. Every so called “god” is graciously welcomed into pantheism with open arms. Whether Yahweh, Zeus, Horace, or the great honorable bull testicle god, all of them are just different manifestations of the one same god!
Yeah. You know, when it gets right down to it, I don’t have any issue with the whole “god is everything”, bullshit, but, uh, to say the least, I think these concepts might be just a little *too* inclusive for most of the population’s tastes. They’re simply not palatable to their delicate tongue’s tender sensibilities, and they therefor much more prefer to perform oral worship on a single god head. Who am I to stop them?
But the concept of a universe is just so much better then a god, isn’t it? Yeah. It’s a better false substitution. The idea of the universe as a higher power is more soothing then the idea of a god as a higher power. This particular surrogate for the truth is just so much more secure and comforting. But in the end, it’s the same exercise. The idea that something ELSE in the field of perception is the responsible agent. In fact, most of this pantheism business just seems to be a matter of replacing the word “god” with the word “universe”, and calling this a new ideological position. Are you confused? Well, worry not! I will gladly give you a little taste, and bestow upon you three prime examples.
Quote:
“Never trust anyone completely but God. Love people, but put your full trust only in God.”
Lawrence Welk.
Nice. Which now becomes:
“Never trust anyone completely but the universe. Love people, but put your full trust only in the universe.”
Quote:
“Never lose an opportunity of seeing anything beautiful, for beauty is God’s handwriting.”
Ralph Waldo Emerson.
Sweet. But could also be stated:
“Never lose an opportunity of seeing anything beautiful, for beauty is the universe’s handwriting.”
Quote:
“Man has to start with something and then develop it - he cannot ever make anything from nothing, only God can do that, and call forth the creation.”
Margaret Weston.
Awesome. But let’s not overlook:
“Man has to start with something and then develop it - he cannot ever make anything from nothing, only the universe can do that, and call forth the creation.”
See how it works? Just about any dialogue about god could still hold water when replacing the word “god” with “the universe.” So it’s really not all that much of a novel position. It’s just a convenient one-size-fits-all philosophical cure-all. An ideological placebo. And I’m not one who is much impressed by Dues Ex philosophy, which is what any type of theology basically is, including pantheism.
For those of you not familiar with the term, “Dues Ex”, it is derived from the term “Dues Ex Machina”, a Greek phrase, which translated means, “a god from a machine”, and is usually employed as a literary device, wherein an explicitly complex seemingly intractable problem in a plot narrative is suddenly inexplicably solved by the addition of an unexpected character, object or situation. Think the eagles coming to save Frodo from uncertain doom in the fiery volcano of Mordor. Basically, it’s a cheap fast way to tie up the loose ends of a difficult quandary. It’s ideological laziness, and quite frankly, has no place in philosophy, in much the same way that theism has no place in philosophy.
And by the way, speaking of the “a god from the machine” thought experiment, it reminds me that, when it comes to gods and machines and ghosts and men, philosophers have gotten the whole thing all wrong all along. A god may emerge from a machine, but if it does, bear in mind that both the god and the machine are equally sourced from the pure mind. And this is the part people just can’t seem to understand. Though-out history, philosophers have always deeply contemplated the idea of “a ghost in the machine”, but that’s because most philosophers think they are a physical creature living in a physical environment. But it’s a huge lie. There is no ghost in the machine. What you actually have, is a machine in the ghost; as, there is no such thing as physicality, and a “deterministic mechanical universe”, is just an abstraction. What you call “physicality”, is a denser mental state; and to attribute this mind-space into an idea of objective locality is just plain falsehood. It’s just plain wrongheaded.
And it doesn’t matter if you include the “self”, as god, because this “self”, is still an attribution. The egoic character that you’ve associated an identity with, isn’t a self, so this is still in the same realm of falsehoods. Illusion is everything on the screen of perception; including the physical body, and all it’s supposed psycho-biological properties. Wherein is any universe?
So that’s pantheism; which, I’m not all that partial towards, due to it’s attributional psychology, which shares the same central backbone as orthodox religion. Why would it be any different with pantheism? The responsibility is still elsewhere, hence the power is elsewhere also; so it matters not that you’ve replaced an anthropological deity with celestial chemistry. Same excrement, different poop chute. And that’s the same reason why, that if a truth seeker were to take a purely scientific position considering the universe, it wouldn’t be all that much different then a theist or a pantheist viewpoint.
“How’s that?”
That’s right, Charlie. As previously stated, a purely cosmological scientific viewpoint; that is, the idea of the universe as some grand cosmic physical context of exterior space consisting of a mixture of different objects and chemistries, is just that: an idea. In other words, also completely full of shit. There is no “universe”, existing, anywhere. And that’s why, the universe doesn’t give it a shit about you. There’s no vibrating strings out there governing some law of attraction that brings forth metaphysical emergent properties when you energetically match a frequency. No. What you really have, is just an IDEA of a universe, which is not really located in a space-time continuum, but, only imagined as a location in a mind-space continuum.
If you can understand this basic fundamental, then you may have finally grasped one of the basic truths of reality.

Psycho Analysis: The Pillar Men
Tumblr media
(WARNING! This analysis contains SPOILERS!)
“Awaken my masters!”
Sometimes it’s really hard to divide a villain team into singular entries to cover on Psycho Analysis; the characters are just too intrinsically linked to take apart and do individually. So, the easy answer to this problem is to just do the whole group together! And considering these guys come right out and make their big debut by striking a pose together, how can I not group them together?
The Pillar Men are the major antagonists of the second (and objectively one of the best) parts of JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure. The trio consists of sinister and mysterious leader Kars, crafty and determined second-in-command Esidisi, and loyal and noble warrior Wamuu, and they pose one of the greatest threats in all of the JoJo canon on account of being enormous, ridiculously buff ancient Aztec vampires with insanely bizarre powers.
Oh, and Kars is the one who made the mask that turned Dio, thereby making Kars a greater scope villain for the entire franchise, so there’s that too.
Of course, while they’re all a serious threat, they aren’t really totally equal in terms of quality. Just watching the show it’s easy to tell who the more interesting Pillar Men are, though I will say all of them are good villains.
Actor: Kars is portrayed by John DeMita, who has had a long history voice acting smaller roles; Esidisi is portrayed by Chris Jai Alex, whose biggest role to date aside from this is Panthro in ThunderCats Roar; Wamuu is voiced by Paul St. Peter, who is probably the most famous of the three as he is the voice behind Xemnas of Kingdom Hearts fame, Kurama in Naruto media since 2014, and perhaps most surprisingly (and amazingly) of all, Wormmon in Digimon Adventure 02. All three do excellent jobs, with their voices really helping sell the character of the Pillar Man they’re voicing, and generally speaking they seem to be considered some of the best-voiced characters in the dub.
Motivation/Goals: The Pillar Men share one simple goal: they desire to obtain the stone mask and the Red Stone of Aja and combine them so that they may become the ultimate lifeforms, thus becoming invincible. This seems like a really good plan… but, frankly, it also seems like overkill considering these guys are basically godly powerful right off the bat, their only major weakness being sunlight. I suppose wanting to find and eradicate your only weakness is a smart goal, and the fact you become a literal god on top of that is icing on the cake.
Personality: Wamuu and Esidisi both really shine in the personality department, while Kars, unfortunately, hangs behind the two. Wamuu especially is a very interesting character, being the most honorable and noble of the Pillar Men; from his allowing Caesar’s blood bubble headband to continue to exist to his constant playing fair in his fights, Wamuu easily cements himself as one of the most affable antagonists in the franchise, to the point where he and Joseph basically become friends as he dies. His code of honor, fierce loyalty, and sheer badassery makes him a lot of fun to watch.
Esidisi is not quite as nice or honorable as Wamuu; considering he posessed the body of an innocent girl just so he could try one final suicide attack after his initial defeat shows he’s not afraid to be a bit underhanded, as does his crying psych out trick. And yet, that being said, Esidisi is still a pretty honorable villain in his own right, and much like Wamuu he does view Joseph as a very worthy adversary. The lengths he goes to aid his fellow Pillar Men indicates he does have a fondness for them, one that is seemingly reciprocated, and this sort of villainous friendship is always nice to see. While definitely more pragmatic and tricky than Whamuu, there’s no denying Esidisi was a worthy foe.
Kars… is odd. As the leader and the final foe to be faced in the story, he spends much of the series mysterious, his nature and motives shrouded in mystery. However, unlike DIO or Yoshikage Kira, we never really do get much of a sense of who Kars is in comparison to his fellow Pillar Men until the very end of this part. What we do get ultimately ends up being contradicted as well; his love of the natural world, for instance, shown best when he kills drunk drivers to save a dog and overcomplicates a landing to avoid crushing flowers, is tossed out the window when he becomes the Ultimate Life Form and allows his squirrel hand to kill another squirrel. He also puts up an act of being honorable and noble like his subordinates, but it’s all seemingly for show, as he goes back on his word when it suits him and he plays dirty and sadistically. Even his love for his fellow Pillar Men is a bit iffy; while it’s pretty obvious that he did care for Wamuu and Esidisi, and he told Joseph he would avenge them after their deaths, he does at one point pretty callously dismiss Santana, a Pillar Man he himself had raised. Kars’ personality just seems to flip flop back and forth when it suits him, and putting that aside he’s just a bit too mysterious and vague for his own good.
However, if nothing else, Kars shares one trait with his fellow Pillar Men: he is undeniably over-the-top and hammy to an absurd degree when the scene calls for it, and that honestly does redeem him at least a bit. And what little we do get about his origins and the source of his motivations is pretty interesting and makes a lot of sense. It just comes a bit too late for his own good.
Final Fate: All three Pillar Men meet their end in this part. Esidisi diees first; after being reduced to little more than a brain and some blood vessels, he is vaporized by sunlight after trying to steal Suzie Q.’s body. Wamuu is defeated in one-on-one combat between himself and Joseph, with his dying moments cementing how honorable he is and showcasing the culmination of his relationship with Joseph. Kars has the most sever and disturbing fate of all three; after becoming the Ultimate Lifeform and being blasted into space by sheer accident, his adaptive abilities kick in and put him into a state of hibernation to save him from the cold, airless vacuum of space. Unable to move and trapped entirely as he drifts further and further away, Kars eventually ceases thinking to cope with this horrible situation.
Best Scene: As a group, there is no better scene with all three than their introduction, in which upon waking up for the first time in thousands of years, all three of them strike a dramatic pose together. It is one of the most JoJo moments you will ever witness.
Individually, Wamuu has his final battle and ultimate death against Joseph, which cements his status as the very best Pillar Man with his noble and badass qualities on full display.
Esidisi has the scene where he breaks out crying to psych Joseph out, a weird and iconic trait of the character that was even adapted as a taunt in All-Star Battle.
And Kars has the moment where he decides to strum the opening notes of “Roandabout” on Lisa Lisa’s legs solely to piss off Joseph.
Best Quote: Wamuu’s best quote is the one used to introduce this Psycho Analysis, and the one used to introduce the Pillar Men as a whole: “Awaken, my masters!”
Esidisi gets this when he turns Joseph’s signature trick on him: “Next you'll say, ‘I'm going to wipe that smirk off your face!’ Watch.” This is only improved when Joseph responds with exactly that and then calls him out on stealing his tricks.
Kars gets this after the Pillar Men give their wedding rings to Joseph: “Let us keep moving. Apparently the human race has regressed rather than evolved.”
Final Thoughts & Score: The Pillar Men are really fun antagonists. They bring a level of seriousness and drama to the story that plays well off of Joseph’s goofy and eccentric personality, while not being entirely above goofiness themselves; I mean, Esidisi’s sobbing trick and Kars turning his hand into a squirrel are both things that happened, after all. And on top of all of that, they take the overly buff and macho aesthetic of early JoJo to its ludicrous, logical extreme with their awesomely god-like builds. They’re not called “The Aztec Gods of Fitness” by fans for nothing.
As I mentioned though, some of the Pillar Men are just more interesting than others. Unsurprisingly, Wamuu is a 10/10; with his excellent voice acting, his defined and noble personality, and his strange yet compelling relationship with Joseph make him one of the most notable antagonists in the entire franchise, and he’s not even the big bad!
Esidisi scores an 8/10. He’s not quite as impressive as Wamuu is, but he’s still pretty awesome in his own right. His incredible determination and love for his comrades to the point where he just refused to die for a bit solely to make their lives a little easier is honestly a bit inspiring and a great show of his true character. The fact he fights with his own blood veins is also ridiculously cool and disgusting all at once. Kars… I am giving a 6/10. He has a reputation of being one of the more base-breaking villains of the franchise, though definitely not to the extent of Diavolo, and it is a bit easy to see why. Kars is a bit too mysterious for his own good, and what little we do see of him seems to get dropped whenever it suits his mood. All that aside, there really is no denying that what we do learn about him is relatively interesting, and when he finally cuts loose towards the end and starts hamming it up, he honestly does live up to the precedent set by his cohorts. Still, I can’t pretend like he’s not overshadowed a lot by Esidisi and Wamuu; they’re just a lot more fun as antagonists. At the very least Kars is a lot of fun to play as in All-Star Battle, though his GHA really is a pain to pull off.
No matter the individual quality level though, as the collective big bads of this part of the Joestar Saga the Pillar Men are all some of the most interesting and unique foes in the series. I think what’s most impressive is that the series somehow managed to top these guys with nearly every villain after this. You heard right, this series gave giant ancient Aztec vampires with incredibly strange body powers and with one of them literally becoming the ultimate lifeform in the second part of eight and counting, and yet somehow they still managed to keep escalating the villains from here to ludicrous extremes, with a bisexual psychopathic egomaniac vampire who can stop time, a hand-fetishizing serial killer who can turn things into bombs and rewind time, a paranoid mafia don with multiple personalities  and the ability to erase short chunks of time, a gay priest who has a thing for prime numbers and wants to reset the universe for his vampire boyfriend, and a dimension-hopping United States president who wants to collect the pieces of Jesus Christ’s corpse to attain ultimate power all following as big bads.
It really is that sort of series. And when the series is like that, it’s better to start embracing how crazy and over-the-top you are early on, and what better way to do that than with Aztec super vampires? The Pillar Men are a great way to ease people in to the insanity that would follow, being a perfect mix of down-to-earth understandable weirdness and out-there bonkers wackiness. Much like Forever after, they marked a point where the series really started shaping up into the one we all know and love by truly creating and embracing its identity. For that, they definitely deserve a lot of respect.
UPDATE: The only real change here is that Wammu gets bumped down to a 9/10. This is mainly because, as amazing as Wammu is, he’s still not quite on the level as villains like DIO or Kira in terms of iconicness. I wish he was, but sadly we do not live in that world.

Dragon Age Question Meme
Tagged by @galadrieljones ❤️😘 Thank you, Sweets!
Tagging: @wrenbee @joufancyhuh @kvpowers @nerkierants @solverne-02 @ellstersmash @swimming-squids @roguelioness And anyone else who'd like to!
01) favorite game of the series?
Inquisition. I hadn't played Origins or DA2 in so long, I had practically forgotten they existed. I had gotten out of gaming for a long time, until I finally caved when I moved away, and got into Skyrim. I played so much I literally maxed out my levelling, and was starting to get bored...which made me sad. Inquisition not only rekindled my love for Dragon Age, it brought out more fresh inspiration to my creativity overall, and that in turn has improved my life,
02) how did you discover Dragon Age?
I played Origins and DA2 at friends' houses when I was in school, but while I enjoyed them, I wasn't in a place in my life where I could appreciate them. Then I was telling my amazing baby-brother-in-law about how sad I was that Skyrim was feeling stale to me, and he told me to play Inquisition. I was speculative at first, because I was so in love with Skyrim's open-world format and lack of any real Good +/- Evil alignment...but once I got past the Intro, I felt so immersed and so connected to the characters, that now Skyrim feels a little empty in comparison (though I do still love it)
03) how many times you’ve played the games?
Origins and DA2, only once each. Inquisition & its DLCs, 6 times all the way through.
04) favorite race to play as?
Elves. It's a bit embarrassing, but I'm an Elf Person. Though I'm sure it hasn't been obvious at all.
05) favorite class?
ROGUE!!! Especially dual-weild 😍 Mage is super fun too, though, ngl
06) do you play through the games differently or do you make the same decisions each time.
NGL It depends on which character I'm playing as, mostly. I also base new decisions based on the effects of decisions in past play thrus and how they played out. If I'm contented with the results in respect to the character, I'll make the same decisions 😂
07) go-to adventuring group?
Solas, Iron Bull, and Dorian, though I rotate Varric and Cassandra in and out a lot, too.
08) which of your characters did you put the most thought into?
😂😂😂 Halesta
09) favorite romance?
Solas, because I enjoy torturing myself. Sera was cute, too. Cullen was fluffy and sweet, and was good for me after my first play thru with Solas. I was in a bad place after the first Solavellan go 'round, cried for weeks. It was not pretty 😂
10) have you read any of the comics/books?
First Flight and Masked Empire
11) if you read them, which was your favorite book?
Masked Empire, hands down. I don't know why, but I couldn't really get into First Flight? But Felassan in Masked Empire, are you kidding?! SWOON.
12) favorite DLCs?
Trespasser. I also love the Descent, especially for the lore! But the Deep Roads scare the ever-loving shit out of me, so I have to psych myself up before I can play it 😅 While I am hot for Ameridan, Jaws of Hakkon didn't really grab me.
13) things that annoy you?
To steal Gala's answer: "Not much. Mostly I get annoyed when parts of the fandom fixate on things that annoy them. That annoys me, because I’m here for the positive vibes, not the negative."
14) Orlais or Ferelden?
Ferelden for the people and culture, Orlais for the varying environments and the history.
15) Templars or Mages?
Mage Rights
16) if you have multiple characters, are they in different/parallel universes or in the same one?
Halesta + Laleal Verse is technically the same Verse as Camber + Somber, since their stories converge, but their timelines are a little different. Ghani is Omniversal. She's in any and every Verse. She's in your Verse right now, and you don't even know it 🤫
17) what did you name your pets? (mabari, summoned animals, mounts, etc)
The dogs in Origins and DA2 were Bryna and Nilo, respectively. Halesta's horse is Da'assan and her little fox is Ghestlin ("lil monster")
18) have you installed any mods?
No...PS4 😟
19) did your Warden want to become a Grey Warden?
Noooooo.
20) Hawke’s personality?
She's a spiteful, sarcastic bitch and I love her so much I can't even.
21) did you make matching armor for your companions in Inquisition?
Ahahaha, God no. I made armor for each companion that I thought fit their personalities.
22) if your character(s) could go back in time to change one thing, what would they change?
Oh God, uhh, I have no idea.
23) do you have any headcanons about your character(s) that go against canon?
SO MANY. Felassan doesn't die, Halies's father is an Ancient Elvhen Sentinel, she is sent by Fel to kill Solas before he can get the Orb to Corypheus (she doesn't), she knows Solas is Fen'Harel, she saves the Orb from breaking but won't give it to Solas, is able to master the Orb and use the power of the Anchor without losing her arm (though it is severely scarred), etc. etc. ad nauseum.
Also, @galadrieljones , about the barefoot elves: I kinda like that they're barefooted! Though probably because I'm always barefooted 😅
24) are any of your character(s) based on someone?
Halesta's personality is based loosely on my mother combined with certain self-insert aspects of my bipolar disorder. Laleal is pretty much based on a combo of my best friend and my husband. Camber's personality is based a little more accurately on my Momma, and her relationship with Somber is based on mine with my own brother (though we're not twins) when we were younger (we're still close, but you know how things change sometimes with age and distance). And Ghani is just a straight-up personification of my depression and anxiety 😂
25) who did you leave in the Fade?
Stroud. I couldn't live with an alternative.
26) favorite mount?
While Halie has a horse she's very attached to in my fic/hc, I don't use mounts in-game. To quote Gala: "My party and I run around on foot like children and get eaten by bears like men."

I just found an old notebook with some prose in it, from who knows when. I don’t remember writing it. It looks like my high school handwriting, I think. I don’t remember this at all.
Update: Beginning of senior year, I think. There’s a page later on with notes for TOK homework and to make a twitter account that was necessary for history (yes, really).
I’m...trying to wrap my head around what I apparently wrote, over several sessions by the look of it. It’s...horror-that much I can say. It’s got a similar atmosphere to some other horror I wrote. I have/had this tendency to write horror taking place in small apartments, with my writing putting heavy emphasis on little, normal environmental details like a train passing by or the heat rising off the sidewalk or a fan blowing loose papers around. Normal stuff that I could juxtapose with stuff that clearly wasn’t normal.
It’s...interesting. I don’t know where I was going with this. There’s one concept I wrote in middle school that I later turned into a full short story in high school that it kind of reminds me of, but it’s also entirely different. I almost want to re-visit this and that other story now.
Summary of what I can make of this story below. Triggers in tags.
There’s...I think a little girl named Clairice, and she lives with this guy named Yuri. Yuri is a young doctor, still finishing up medical school? And he apparently brought home a dead patient’s medical files.
When he’s gone, Clairice deadbolts the front door to read it. It belongs to a patient named Michelle Raymond. Yuri’s notes on her are uncharacteristically messy and haphazard.
Michelle had returned to the hospital a few hours after leaving, having been dismissed as having a mild skin irritation. Yuri’s hand print was on her arm but no one else except him could see it? Anyways it turned into a full-on rash, stomach cramps, and increased irritability. When she saw Yuri she fell into hysterics and tried to bite him. She got sent to the psych ward. Other creepy physical anomalies occurred, and they found some deep tissue wounds near where she initially complained about skin irritation. Yuri made a note about the coroner finding rust and fingernail pieces in the damaged tissue, but no blood-implying that Michelle died some times between her visit and Yuri bringing the file home. The file ended there. There’s a death certificate noting self-mutilation, asphyxiation, and internal bleeding.
Yuri comes home at some point, and at first just chats on about an anatomy test he’d struggled with that day while he makes coffee. A stray paper reveals Clairice’s snooping, and he sits down and explains the aftermath.
Yuri killed Michelle Raymond? She was displaying almost supernatural strength and flexibility and acting, as Yuri called it, ‘feral’, before breaking into a seizure. When he was trying to hold her down so she didn’t hurt herself, blood started coming out of...everywhere, and he couldn’t get a firm grip, and at some point just ended up strangling her. Like, there’s something missing here like high school me was implying but didn’t write, I guess.
Clairice and Yuri don’t speak for several days, during which time Yuri keeps weird hours and comes home smelling like rubbing alcohol. On Sunday, when she enters the living room, he very casually asks her a question:
“Clairice...How well do you remember your brother? Do you remember how he held your dead body?” And Clairice naturally starts to panic as he continues to ask her questions about when she was older than him, when she could talk, and...when she committed suicide. She tries to run but he grabs her. He has a knife. He says he promised on her brother’s grave that he wouldn’t harm her, and he’s sorry his words hurt her, but he needs her to do something and he needs her to hate him so that she can do it.
There’s...a really, really creepy vibe in this scene, and I’m trying to downplay it a little. I think it was meant to be like yandere-like romantic but I look back and my brain is like NOPE.
Anyways, implied flashback to explain that Clairice committed suicide when she was 15, after Yuri (who was 14) rejected her. And then, after she died...her next memory is 15 yo Yuri crying over her new body.
Now that I’m reading it a second time, I think that Yuri is 30 and Clairice is 20, because her reincarnated body was 5 and it’s been 15 years since. I hope I’m reading that right.
Cut back to the present, and Clairice and Yuri are preparing to do something she implies is either an operation or a ritual. Apparently Yuri has some kind of ‘touch’ and they need to figure out where it ends before they can continue.
So he moves an unlit match over his right hand, and at his palm it spontaneously lights and quickly consumes the match, which he throws on the tile before he burns his fingers. The tar that remains smells like ‘molasses and spoiled meat’. I have no idea how I came up with that scent, and I can’t fully imagine it, but just in concept it sounds bad. He keeps doing this up his arm, until at his elbow (on the eighth match) they stop combusting.
Long story short, he has Clairice cut off his entire right forearm.
Some kind of cut to Yuri explaining things in the living room. I guess he took care of the wound. He is exhausted but surprisingly calm as he explains what happen after she died.
Clairice had a brother, a college senior named Joseph. He adored his little sister, and after he found her body he called Yuri, cussed him out, and demanded he come over to move the body.
Except when Yuri got there, it was painfully clear that Joseph wasn’t going to hide the body. Joseph was going to try to bring her back to life.
I’m just gonna quote Yuri’s lines to finish this off:
“We...did things that night Clairice. Things I wouldn’t force anyone to do, things that still haunt me...And in order to bring you back, he cursed and killed himself. I tried to stop him-grab him-hold him back, and by doing so I ended up with (that) accursied hand. How could I face anyone after that, knowing I’d caused the death of one person and facilitated that of another?”
And that’s where it ends.
--
There’s...a lot to process there. Part of me feels like it was meant to fit into the world of the other horror story I wrote (a deserted-looking town where monsters beyond explaining wander freely and try to get to the people holed up in the buildings, who live and interact via a system of underground tunnels; it ended up getting a similar apartment-based story that went in an entirely opposite direction).
I guess Yuri’s cursed hand did something to Michelle Raymond that resulted in all the weird physical horror? How did her get through med school with a hand like that? Or did the curse just recently start acting up, and why?
Why are there never parents in my horror stories? It’s always like...a young man and a slightly younger woman. My best guess here is that Yuri couldn’t face Joseph and Clairice’s parents, who lost both their children in one night, so he ran away with her in order to keep his promise to Joseph?
Honestly I kinda want more of the story of 15yo Yuri trying to take care of a little girl (that used to be older than him and have a crush on him), and probably failing horribly, but apparently he somehow made it work well enough to get his GED (since I doubt he stayed in town) and then go to med school.
Also Clairice apparently couldn’t speak but he didn’t bother to try to learn/teach her sign language?
IDK I guess high school me had some stuff going on and expressing it frequently took the form of runaways, cramped apartments, and body horror (based on both stories and the whole concept of Harpy). Also shadow demons.

"You often times use this sort of obscure starting point and you just build and build and build from there. And this was very very very loosely based on Jeff’s Three Ball Equilibrium tank. It’s a family I often do families. Families keep reoccurring through the work. And this is just how three individuals—the father, the mother, and the daughter—all equilibrate themselves as actual living biomass in an unfriendly natural macrocosm… Their busy balancing themselves. Their balancing their biomass, their skeletons, their psyches in an unfriendly natural macrocosm. They all have their way of doing it. Roger met Sally and begot Laxmi. And Laxmi is clearly not Laxmi. She has no attachment to what inspired Mom to name her Laxmi. She has a whole load of other needs. But it’s basically equilibrium.” [1]

for the writer asks: 4, 22-26!
holy SHIT i COMPLETELY forgot about those but thank you so much!!
4. Do you have writing habits or rituals?
my thing is that generally i don’t start writing until 6pm for warm-up/roleplay stuff and until 1am for book stuff. sometimes i dabble a lil bit beforehand but it’s like a loose schedule i have to really dedicate my attention on something
i also always have tumblr open haha my process is literally: [refreshes dash][types a paragraph][refreshes dash][writes two sentences of dialogue][refreshes dash][getsREALLYINTOITANDFINISHESSCENE][refreshes dash and scrolls through as a reward]
i also just have a lot of rly specific orders of doing things when it comes to writing for my rp group like i tend to cycle through my characters in a certain order because that keeps me focused and organized and the more organized i am the more productive i can actually be with my work ehe
22. How many drafts do you need until you’re satisfied and a project is ultimately done for you?
when it comes to books UMMM two... i spend a lot of time on the first draft so i can’t imagine even needing or wanting a second, really. the second draft is more to edit evreything and refine things but, again, since i (unfortunately) do that a lot during the first draft, it’s not much! but that’s what makes it so fun hehe
my scripts tho, ah.. i have one finished and the other nearly finished so, judging on the process it took to do those, generally at least three. and that’s because the first draft is literally me just vomiting out dialogue without any sort of prose, no narration, little to no stage directions, nothing. the second draft is when i make it all fancy, and any other drafts after are just part of that process in making it fancy
(like the completely finished script had 4 drafts and the third and fourth draft only differ because one is written in a more, uh... tumblr? way? and the other is in a more ‘proper’ script format)
23. Single or multi POV, and why?
depends on the story! out of my three main books rn i have two that are single and one that is multi and that’s all based on the cast of characters. the multi one has about 5 characters that i rly wanna focus on (maybe more!) while the single ones have two protags and one’s point of view is dedicated to describing the second. they’re both equally fun for me... (multi is RLY exciting tho)
24. Poetry or prose, and why?
proseproseproseproseprose.
i mean, i get told a lot that my prose is VERY poetic and that’s nice so there’s that. um i can’t get into poetry, i feel like there’s this structure behind poetry that is ENTIRELY imagined, like, i dont think it applies to anybody else but me, but i can’t make myself fit into whatever box i assume you need to make to make a poem a POEM so it’s not a comfy fit for me. the closest thing to poetry i write is just lil snippets for my suggestion blogs and even then that’s literally me taking one line or a few lines of my prose and handing it out
25. Linear or non-linear, and why?
I LOVE NON-LINEAR... it is very VERY hard for me to make a story that doesn’t, at some point, devolve into some sort of non-linear fashion because... it’s more fun... i rly like that quote about emotional logic i saw before. to me, there’s a very specific journey i want the character and the reader to go on and sometimes you can’t get there by going from beginning to end
i think it also just reflects the psych far more than a linear story does. human beings are CONSTANTLY ruminating over the past, learning from their mistakes, recovering from what’s happened to them... a lot of my stories are very heavily based on what trauma has happened to so-and-so character and how they cope with it so to me it’s necessary to literally go back and show what happened, because, to the character, it’s still happening and they’re still processing it and you don’t get that effect if i just start from the bad thing and go on. i think it’s far more immersive if the character exists as they are, acts as they would, and suddenly you’re brought back to know why, and by the time you’re in the present again, you understand about the character, and the character (the way i do it) has finally passed a hurdle that will put them ahead, and bring the reader with them into the future...!!!! aaaaaaaaaaaaa i love writing
26. Standalone or series, and why?
STANDALONE... i love that fuzzy-headed feeling when you finish one (1) good book and you put it down and it’s final. DONE. not to say that a series doesn’t have that same effect (um my poor ruined ass after reading the series i’ve read this past year) but i just love the idea of having something so compact and so precise and so confined in its one lil area of existing.
it’s also just... that a series requires a LOT of content!!!! i don’t like writing fluff haha i struggle with it a lot, i am VERY to the point so sometimes i just don’t even have enough material to make it to a series.
actually, a lot of it is because my characters are VERY focused on what’s happening to them, like. i tend to write emotional-driven stories, so maybe??? four MAJOR things happen, that’s four chapters, but then each chapter has like ten of the emotional fall out, the relationships and the way they break or form, the reactions to everything that’s happening. my one series has plot point after plot point happening but i still GOTTA write that reaction so... that’d either make for a VERY long book or i had to make it a series lol
also i just. this is more for me with movies but i don’t like sequels lol i have one story to tell and once that story is told it’s done. sometimes i entertain the thought of having a sequel to tsg but. i cant imagine ever writing it. my characters start at point A, they end at point B, there will never ever be a point C that will be as important for them to start another journey because that was IT. IT’S DONE.
I REFUSE TO SCROLL UP TO READ MORE SORRY FOR THE TEXT WALL BUT THANK YOU FOR THE QUESTIONS

Sun in the houses
The Sun represents  your self-worth, how you experience life and express your individuality. The house where the Sun is in, will express in which area of life you will shine through, what kind of things will make you feel “complete”.
Sun in the 1st house: “Self respect is everything”.
These people present themselves as strong and confident, but actually they may be self-conscious. They’re concerned of what people think and say about them. However, if their Sun develope well they may become self-assured and prideful. Thus, they shine when they are able to express and being themselves. They love to be in the spotlight and may seem arrogant and attention-seeking at first (or always tbh). They tend to feel attacked easily when people doubt them.
Sun in the 2nd house: “Our possessions posses us".
These people like to feel powerful, and they find power through their possessions and wealth. They shine through what they possess: this is the kind of people that actually buy expensive things because that supposed to make them important. Therefore, their inner-wealth is connected to the tangible world, to what they have. However, these people usually have high self-esteem, even if they find themselves poor. After all, they have a weird and energetic need to make money and gain power.
Sun in the 3rd house: “Power is gained by sharing knowledge, not hoarding it".
People with this placement literally love to talk and share their knowledge! They find power and feel complete through long talks, debates and intellectual efficience. These people tend to feel really proud of their intellectuality and useless facts~ and may have problems with patience and anxiety. Their curiosity is big and they have a way through people.
Sun in the 4th house: “The past is never where you think you left it".
The Sun in the 4th house makes someone who’s focused on the past and is more comfortable among people they’ve known from a long time. Through this house they can expand their life in a are more gregarious way and may be more attached to one land and their wealth. These people shine, feel completed through their loved ones.
Sun in the 5th house: “The creation of beauty is art”.
Sun in the 5th house is really creative and artsy. This combination makes someone really playful and fun-loving, more focused on enjoying the pleasures of life than actually working to get them. These people shine through games and their creations (such as art, children, etc) and, like Sun in the 1st, feel completed when they can express themselves.
Sun in the 6th house: “A job isn’t just a job. It’s who you are".
These people tend to be diligent and hard working, and prefer to stay away from the spotlight. These people take pride of their work and may have a hard time accepting reviews.  They feel complete when they are busy and are helpful to people. Actually, these people NEED to feel useful.
Sun in the 7th house: “People often say that this or that person has yet not found himself. But the self is not something one finds, it is something one creates".
These people have a rough time getting to know themselves and tend to blend with their loved ones and friends. They’re those friends that mimic other people’s gestures. They find themselves secure when they have someone by their side, and may need actual self-development. In fact, they shine through their relationships and feel complete when they reach harmony.
Sun in the 8th house: “The greatest secrets are always hidden in the most unlikely places".
These people feel like there are parts of themselves under the shadows, and will go deeper in their psyche to get to know it. They may have a rough time  keeping away from their limits. Due their powerful and intense nature, they may come off as complicated or even secretive people. They feel completed when they find the truth and are able to self-improve themselves.
Sun in the 9th house: “Travel far enough you meet youself".
They’re the social justice warriors™ of Tumblr. Basically, their main focus is on education, morals, religion and their high ideals. Actually they are proud of their knowledge and they feel completed when they learn about a topic they’re passionate about. They may be intolerant when people don’t agree with them, but well developed this Sun will be tolerant, adventorous and curious. Also they are interested in other countries’ affairs and cultures. :)
Sun in the 10th house:  “No one can make you feel inferior without your consent".
This placement makes people who are really bossy and tend to have a big social life. Their main focus is to climb higher and get respect from other people. They tend to show themselves as authorities and probably they’ll have problems in their work places if they don’t get they’re not the boss there. However, they put a lot of energy on their work so it’s possibly they’ll end being one. These people feel completed when they get a high position in their career/society.
Sun in the 11th house: “It is better to fail in originality than to succeed in imitation".
These people have big hopes and big dreams. They look at life in terms of opportunities, and have a need to be different or outstanding. Their main dream is to make an impact in the world, and they’re fullfilled when they get it. Like Sun in the 9th house, this Sun when well developed will be open-minded and tolerant, while bad developed this Sun will be impatient, arrogant and smartass.
Sun in the 12th house: “There’s bravery in being soft”.
The Sun in the 12th is kind of drowned in fears. These people are very connected to their subconscious and tend to pass most of their time alone. They might loose their sense of identity when they’re among too much people. Actually, they’re like a chameleon: their personality changes unconsciously depending the person they’re with. People with this placement feel completed when learn and developed their spiritual life.
