How did you pick your rats names?

My rats names: Splinter (He came with that name), Seth, Oz, Negi, Looshkin, Chi, Copernicus, Archemedies. Decided we wanted a greek theme for these 3 and I chose Apollo, partner chose Phobos and my housemate at the time picked Ares. :)

FOLKS!

So.

As you know, I am the proud petparent of a lovely little old man called Looshkin.  My 16 year old, indoor-only black cat.  Seen here below, enjoying some supervised garden time.

Recently though, I’ve been getting a very sweet little visitor to my door.

She’s very tiny.  Very fuzzy.  Extremely vocal and extremely affectionate and friendly.

I get the feeling she might only be 6 months-1 year old.

I also think she may be pregnant.  She’s friendly enough to let me touch her belly (!!!) And I got a feel of a firm, round tummy with prominent nipples (fur is very thick so they aren’t visible, which they were when Looshkin’s sister years back got herself knocked up).  Also, her behaviour when she visits seems like she’s looking for a nesting site, as she is immediately and enthusiastically all up in the crevasses and different rooms of the house, not timid about exploring the unfamiliar space at all.

I can’t locate a chip on her, and I’ve never seen her with a collar.

I’m currently taking steps to prepare for various options.  If she keeps coming by, I am prepared to set her up in the spare room for nesting, with a mind to getting her the snip after, rehoming her kittens and possibly also her (if she and Looshkin don’t bond).

Looshkin has lived with other cats before, so I know he can do it, but he’s a scaredy boy and a little unsure of her right now, so I don’t want to take that option hastily.

I’m posting local missing-pet sites in the meantime, and letting her come and go as she happens to visit for now.  If nothing turns up soon, I’ll at least be able to give her a safe space to have her babies in until a suitable home for them all can be found.  The COVID situation has my local vets trying to avoid appointments where it’s possible to handle stuff remotely, so it’ll be interesting to see what Looshkin’s vet recommends if I do end up taking her in.

So, I guess, potentially watch this space for cute kitten updates?
