It's also why Rei's father is terrified of his late wife, his daughter, and father-in-love: he didn't believe in the supernatural before marrying into the Hino family, only to be body snatched five times during the honey moon.

lord Martiya's Lilanette Week 2018 day 7: Love

Had a hard time choosing which idea using here… But here it is. Also serves as an ideal epilogue to every other snip I wrote for this edition of Lilanette Week.

“Excuse me?!”

Marinette was at the Italian embassy to officially meet her girlfriend’s mother. Not Lila’s idea, she was scared at the thought of her mother meeting Marinette in private, but the woman had insisted, and Lila and Marinette both knew it was better not contradict her on that. So, there she was, meeting with the unsettling woman that looked very similar to her daughter, even if she wore her much shorter hair in a bun and was apparently making a point of being completely still… And the moment Lila had to leave them alone her mother had flat-out offered money to break-up with her.

“That’s the whole reason, isn’t it? Agreste was too naive to even notice your advances, so you went after my daughter.” she had continued.

“That’s not like it!” Marinette replied, suddenly standing and slamming her hands on the table.

Lila’s mother tilted her head to the side, apparently surprised, then stated her disbelief: “Can’t believe you actually love her… You are most obviously not good for her, yet you love her. More than your family?”

“What?”

“I am a diplomat important enough to affect unimportant people’s passports-and I hear your grandmother likes to travel. What could happen to her if her passport was suddenly revoked or flagged as a fake while she’s outside the Union, I wonder? Some trouble…”

That had caught Marinette by surprise. The woman had casually passed from offering money to threaten her family to have her break up with Lila… And she couldn’t take it. But she had no solution, even as she thought about it. Maybe Lila would have some idea, or Master Fu-

“You pass.” Lila’s mother suddenly said, finally moving and becoming less unsettling. “I apologize for the threats, but I had to see if I had read you correctly. “I know my daughter, far better than she thinks, and the sheer effort she must have consciously or unconsciously taken for you to be her girlfriend, what with her temper, that I fear she inherited from myself and she reigns in by clinging to old codes of honors beyond what most people would do, more than a few emotive scars, having been raised in an environment not exactly tolerant of same-sex relationships, HAVING ABSOLUTELY NO TRUST IN HER MOTHER” Lila took her clue to dramatically enter the room “and not intervening so far only because she was trying to understand why I was doing something so brazen… And I needed to know what you were made of. And I saw in your eyes that when I threatened your family you weren’t thinking about giving up one of them but on how to deal with the threat. I suppose you can stand at her side.”

“But-but-but-”

“That’s completely insane, mother.” Lila flatly stated.

“Lila, dear, our last name is Rossi Rinaldi Colonna di Sciarra. Our namesake is a man that, over a contention where our family was objectively in the wrong, decided to kill the reigning Pope and did so by conquering his hometown while he was there and barging in his home, and even if stopped by his French accomplices he still did on him such a number he died less than a month later-I have a tradition to uphold.”

Lila decided to just drag Marinette away before her mother broke her.

As far I’m concerned, Lila’s mother is a more emotional Gabriel: extremely overprotective and ready to do some questionable things for her only child. And that’s quite the problem when said person is an experienced diplomat, descends from a family that did the above, and has a questionable sense of humor. If nothing else, the fact her mother’s a very functional madwoman explains Lila perfectly. One of these days I’ll have to come up with a man that can love a woman like that to be Lila’s father…

For her wedding, Usagi wasn't sure who to have as her maid of honor, Naru or Minako. Minako neatly solved things by pointing out that, as Usagi's main bodyguard, she was automatically the best (wo)man and a bride knight, who traditionally had to defend the bride from kidnapping attempts. She then had to contend with Motoki, who was supposed to be the best man - and differently from Naru was too scared of her to try and keep the role.

At the ceremony many guests were left wondering why the groomsmen had been replaced by visibly armed women up until a surviving youma tried to crash the wedding and got killed by Rei with an arrow.

When Usagi started reading "The Moon Is a Harsh Mistress" by Heinlein nobody paid it much attention.

Then the next week Usagi asked her friends if they were in some sort of line marriage like in the novel, and they started worrying she may want to put a giant railgun on the Moon.

Neo Queen Serenity initially ruled only over Japan, China, and some of the nearby countries... But turned out to be so good at bolstering the economy and defeating poverty that the independent countries started losing their population as their best and brightest emigrated to her kingdom, and those who couldn't eventually installed governments that petitioned to have her as ruler and implement her policies.

In about a hundred years only the Vatican remained independent, and that was only due its unique circumstances.

To further Usagi's legitimacy as the future Neo Queen Serenity and ruler of the world, Minako got a list of various regalia from around the world then stole a time key and used it to steal them to be later recovered and used, realizing it was a bad idea only when she was digging out the stash in the present.

She then went and gave them back in the present, and wasn't expecting the Chinese ambassador to kowtow at the Heirloom Seal of the Realm nor to topple the Emperor of Japan when she tried to give back the Imperial Regalia and thus proved the ones used to crown the Emperor are fakes.

After Sailor Venus joined the group, the others asked to take her same training - right as she and Artemis had decided the best way to train her was to purposefully get herself driven to the ground and then have Sailor Moon heal her.

It was so traumatizing that when a thousand years later Chibiusa made the same request they all fell down in tears (Venus spared her, thankfully).

Neo Queen Serenity is not an official title but a nickname: following the Japanese use (inherited from Imperial China), upon ascension to the throne Usagi officially became "Her Majesty the Empress" and proclaimed the Serenity Era in honor of the last Queen of the Silver Millennium, prompting Minako to call her "Neo Queen Serenity" as a joke... And she liked it.

When Minako joined the team, she suggested they trained her way for a month to become better fighters, and given she was Sailor V they accepted and even signed written agreements. They didn't expect her to have Artemis work everyone (including HERSELF) to the brink of collapse and have Usagi heal everyone every single day. Twice on Sundays.

They became much stronger in very little time, but the only one who doesn't have nightmares about the experience is Minako herself.
