___
It's a cold winter day in Bowerstone, you and your Sister Rose are standing at a fireplace. You and Rose are homeless. You are only nine years old and your sister is fifteen. You were just trying to get warm, when suddenly something fell on your head and when you touched it you immediately knew it was bird poop! Your eyes went wide and tried to get rid of it while making a disgusted sound.
Rose looked weirdly at you while having her arms around her body to stay warm. “What was that? Oh! Yuck.” she said while taking a step back. When you stopped she put her arms back around her and so do you with yourself. “Well… That’s lucky. Like finding a four-leave clover. Although I think I'd prefer the clover.” her voice sounded a little awkward when saying that.
Then she looked at the castle amazed that stood in the center of Brightwood. “Look. little Sparrow…Castle Fairfax looks so nice in the snow. Imagine the grand dining hall. I bet Lord Lucien’s having roasted duck at this time of the year.” She ranted while you just kept quiet while putting your hands over the fireplace and listened to her ranting.
She put her hands on her hips. “But he must be really lonely since his wife and his little girl died. In that big castle, all by himself… If only we could live there.” She looked at the castle with a sad expression.
Suddenly there was the sound of loud cheering heard from behind the houses. “What is going on over there? Come with me, little brother.” she said while running in the direction of where the sound came from. So before you could say anything you followed her, but you were a little behind.
When you turned into the alleyway and went farther down you saw a man talking to your Sister, You saw him talking to her a few times back then. “Hello there, young Rose. You look hungry. Have you reconsidered my offer?” he said oddly nice but also very weird. You of course do know what he's talking about.
You approached them slowly. Rose had a disgusted and angry look on her face. “We’ll never be that hungry. The answer is NO!” That angered the guy. “You’ll be back. And I'll be waiting for Ya.” he said with an angered tone, then walked away.
Rose sighed and looked at you. “Come on, little Sparrow. Let's see what's going on.” she said as we both ran again to where the sound came from. Rose sighed again. “That filthy creep… I hate him.” she spat.
You finally arrived only to see a crowd around a taider. “Oh… It's just a trader. I can't see anything through the crowd.” She was clearly disappointed.
“A-ladies and a-gentlemen… I have traveled the land accumulating wondrous and mysterious objects! Which I now offer to you for the modest price of five gold coins!” he said proudly.
“Consider this. This is truly a magical mirror. For as long as you look into it, it will make you beautiful!” he said lowly. “I'll take it!” a random guy screamed from the crowd. “Very wise! Now just remember: the magic only works if you look at it in complete darkness.” He had a smug look on his face.
The trader turned to something that looked like a music box, but it was completely made of metal. “Ah, now this is truly a marvel.” he said smiling at it. “This small, unassuming box is actually a device created by the ancients. As was used by the old rulers of the kingdom themselves! Turn the handle three times, and you shall be granted a single wish!”
Rose looked unamused at this and scoffed. “There’s no such thing as magic!” she said and she thought that nobody heard it because they were busy watching the trader, but hooded women turned towards us. When you saw her eyes, you noticed that she was probably blind.
“We live in grim times indeed, if the young doesn't believe in magic anymore. Most children your age believe eagerly.” she said in a calming voice. Rose looked at her weirdly but you thought that she was right, only because you believed in it yourself. “Look, I can see your eyes are bad, but I'm telling you, that magic box is rubbish.” while she said that the crowd beside us was getting smaller and smaller until everyone was gone.
“That's what the seller thinks. He has no idea what he stumbled upon. But you have an inkling, have you? Some part of you wants to believe it's magic.” Her voice still calm as before, she turned around already walking away from us.
Rose looked looked at he women surprised. “What? You… you really think it could be?” she asked hesitantly. The woman stopped but only turned her head to the side. “For five gold coins, you could have your own answer.” Rose looks dumbfounded at her answer. “For five gold coins, we could eat for a weak.” Rose frowned.
The women started walking away. “Listen to me, Rose. At the end of the week you and Y/N would be no closer to your dream- no closer to the inside of that beautiful castle.” she started. ‘She, is right actually…’ is all what you thought to yourself.
Rose turned to face you frowning slightly. “What if it is real? I bet we could get five gold coins… and maybe this could be a way out of here, after all. What is there to lose, little sparrow?” she sounded confident. I smiled at her. “Probably nothing!” Rose laughed then nodded. “All right! Come on, there must be someone around here who will pay us to… do something.” with that we went around town to earn some money.
After about half an hour we finally had our five coins to buy the music box! Rose and I went back to the trader. The Trader Murgo looked at you smiling. “Hello children.” he said happily. Rose and I smiled back at him. “Hello, we’ve come to buy the music box.” she started still smiling.
I walked towards the man held my hand in front of him showing him the five coins. “Very wise, little ones! Go ahead and turn the handle- but mind you go somewhere quiet, like.” he smiled at the both of you. “Okay thank you! Bye mister!” you waved at him. “Let's go make our wish, little Sparrow!” she said excitedly, as you both started walking back to your little stay.
You put the music box onto a box wooden box that was around half of your height. “Alright turn the handle!” Rose was a nervous as you started to turn the handle. “I wish… I wish…” After she said her wish the box opened and started glowing in a bright golden color. A beautiful sound was playing but then the music box started rotating and the music got faster, the golden color was turning red and then all of a sudden, the music box lighted up in a bright golden color and disappeared right in front of our eyes!
You and Rose we're shocked. “But… where did it go? Why are we still here? Five gold pieces… Let's just go to bed.” she sounded sad and disappointed. You yourself were sad at this, but still you followed her. “Oh. I was so sure this was it. I had this feeling like… that we weren't going to be stuck in Old Town anymore! Why didn't the box take us with it?” she still sounded sad but tried to push it aside. “Come on, Sparrow, go to bed.” so you both lay down to end the day. “Good night! Love you big Sis!” you said turning to your side. “Good night. I love you too, little Sparrow.” and with that, you both went to sleep. You only hoped that tomorrow would be a better day, and Rose won't be sad anymore.
It was still nighttime when Rose woke up to the sound of footsteps, scared that it could be a thief or something like that. She carefully opened her eyes and stood up, and when she saw who it was she was relieved, I was only the guard that they helped to earn some money for the now gone music box. “What do you want?” asked Rose the guard curiously.
The guard cleared his throat. “I work for Lord Lucien, miss. And would very much like to see you in his castle. I've been sent to collect you.” With that, he walked away, and Rose walked up to your sleeping form. “It did work! Our wish came true! Come on little Sparrow, wake up.” So you opened your eyes and stood up still a little tired. “What's happening, Sis?” you asked her with a yawn and rubbed your eyes.
Rose smiled brightly at you. “Everything is fine. We're going to Lord Lucien’s castle! Now come we have to go little Sparrow!” she said as she ran in the direction of where the guard went to wait for us. When I ran after her I saw her standing with a few guards waiting for me.
“Let's go to the castle!.” Rose said happily, and so we were guided to Castle Fairfax. “What do you think does Lord Lucien wants from us?” I asked her confused. “I don't know, but we will find out shortly, Little Sparrow.” she said looking to at the big doors of the Castle.
The door was open and an old-looking Butler stood there waiting. “Evening. Jeeves. Here are the children Lord Lucien asked for.” he said proudly. The Butler smiled at us. “Excellent!” was all that he said to the guard, then turned back to us. “Hello, young masters.” This confused you but you ignored it. “Hello, sir.” both you and Rose answered politely.
His smile tightened and turned around. “If you'd follow me please.” he said and started to lead us into the castle. We look up at this castle every day and think how nice it is. We both do. But inside it's even more beautiful than I imagined.” Rose told him dreamily. Jeeves chuckled. “It's quite wonderful, isn't it?” it was more of a statement than a question.
Then we saw a man walking past us. “Ah, hello. Master Garth.” Jeeves greeted still walking while the other male said nothing. “Huh, Man of few words.” He led us further into the castle. “Where is the grand dining hall?” Rose suddenly asked curiously. “Oh, in the north wing. Lord Lucien hadn't been there since… Since the tragic deaths of Lady Fairfax and little Amelia.” he told us as we claimed some stairs and further down the hall. “Oh, I heard. That was so awful.” Rose’s tone was sad. Jeeves nodded. “Yes, he misses them terribly.” Rose raised a brow. “So where does he eat?” Jeeves looked at her. “Actually, he takes most of his meals in his study. He's in there working all hours, doing research...” You frowned. “What does he research?” you asked him curiously. “History, mostly. Lord Lucien is quite keen on antiquities of all sorts, but he is chiefly interested in things relating to the Old Kingdom.” Rose nodded understanding. “There was a Trader in Old Town who said his stuff was from the Old Kingdom.” Jeeves nodded. “Yes… yes, I believe Lord Lucien… heard about that.” he told us hesitantly. We were standing in front of some big doors now. “We bought a piece of it and we made a wish and now we're here!” She smiled brightly.
Jeeves smiled again. “That's wonderful. Now, when you meet Lord Lucien., you must show respect at all times. Address him as “my lord.” Speak only when spoken to.” he told us, You and Rose nodded. “Yes sir.” she awnsered shortly. Jeeves stood in front of us “And do not mention Lady Fairfax or Amilia.” he said a little more sternly. Jeeves opened the door to the study. “Here we are. Lord Lucien? The children are here.” Jeeves informed as me and Rose walked in and the door closed right behind us. ‘I don't like this’ is all I thought as I tried to push a weird feeling away.
Lord Lucien turned towards us. “Children. It's come to my attention that you have some sort of magic box. May I see it?” he asked looking at us curiously. “It vanished m’lord. We were winding it up, and we made a wish, and then it started to glow and it disappeared.” she said sadly. “After you used it?” is all he asked. Rose nodded. “Yes, m’lord. The man who sold it to us said it was magic.” Lord Lucien looked a little interested.
“The box is of no interest to me, what's remarkable is that you were able to use it. What was your wish?” he then asked. Rose gasps a little scared. “Well, speak up… what did you wish for?” he asked nicely. Then she looked up at him confidently. “To live in a castle… like this one.” Lucien smiled. “Perhaps that could be arranged. I working to rebuild… well, I'm working on something wonderful, for which I need individuals with particular talents. Let us find out if you have them. Would you kindly stand in the circle, please?” Rose looked at him nervously “Erm…” Lucien Looked at her reassuringly. “I promise, it won't hurt you.” This made my weird feeling grow but Rose still obliged and stepped inside the circle, while you still stood at your spot behind Lord Lucien. Behind the circle were also very big colored windows.
Suddenly the circle started to glow in a bright blue. “What's that?” asked scared. “Nothing to worry about.” Lucien answered. You looked a little scared at the circle. Lord Lucien looked at me with reassuring eyes. “Go on. Stand in the circle.” Then Rose looked at you. “It's all right, little Sparrow. Don't be afraid. It doesn't hurt.” Her tone was soft. So you made a quick nod and stepped into the circle.
When you stepped inside there was some sort of a blue glowing wall. You were trapped. Lord Lucien stood in front of you, his face was full of shock and relief. “It's true. Your blood… you are Heroes.” This of course shocked you and Rose. “Heroes? You mean like in the old stories?” she asked amazed. Lord Lucien then tried to touch the barrier and it sent some shocks to him. “Ah!” he screamed out pulling his hand away and holding it. When this happens the circle suddenly starts to glow bright red. “What are you?” he asked angrily as he walked to a table with many papers and a book on it.
He started panting. “Wait. There was, there was something here…” mumbling to himself. “M’lord, what happened? What's that light?” Rose asked seemingly scared. “Quiet! You're heroes… but you're not any of the three…” he would us while looking through the papers. “What's happening?” asked terrified as Lord Lucien suddenly pulled a gun out. You froze as he suddenly pointed it towards Rose. “This isn't what I wanted… but nothing must stand in my way.” he said darkly. Rose looked even more terrified now. “No, wait. Don't! Nooo!” she screamed in agony, but it was too late he pulled the trigger and she fell to the floor. Tears were now streaming out of your face as you realized what happened, You looked at your now dead sister but you still couldn't move, you were to terrified.
Lucien then pointed the gun towards you. “I can't allow you to live either. I'm sorry.” is all that he said. You pulled your arms in in front of you as you backed away towards the window. And then he shot you which made you crash out of the window onto many roofs before crashing into the street.
When you laid there on the street you barely moved Your fingers. You then heard footsteps and a voice. “Death is not your destiny today, little Sparrow… Y/N” You knew that voice… it was the blind woman from the market. Then you felt how you were picked up into her arms, then you blacked out cold.
Suddenly you woke up to a familiar face it was the woman she had a dog with her that licked your face. It was the dog that you and Rose rescued once. Then time went by fast you reached out for the comfort of the dog’s warm fur, ready to take your first steps in a new life.
Ten winters blanketed in Albion, ten summers filled the air with the sounds of insects and laughter. With time your pain turned to strength. Your grief became will. A will to change the world. And to avenge the death that haunted your every dream.
Now you are 19 year old. You got your revenge for your sister with the help of the other three heroes.
Hammer is one of the other three heroes. You and her were taking a walk with Theresa. “Today is very beautiful, it's not too warm and not too cold! So it's the perfect weather to take a little walk.” Hammer breathed out with a satisfied smile. “Mhm” You nodded in agreement.
“How about we go into town and eat something? My treat!” Hammer asked. “Seems like an nice idea.” Theresa agreed. “Yeah sounds good to me!” you cheered happily. “All right, let's go!” Hammer said while laughing at you, so does Theresa.
So when you were halfway there about to reach the town something felt off as you three talked to each other. Suddenly you noticed your surroundings started to glow. “What's happening?” Hammer asks confused with a little hint of worry. “I don't know!” you answered back. “I feel magic behind it, and it's not yours. It's not good either…” Theresa said as you all stopped. Then the wind started to get stronger, the glowing got brighter, and started to circle around you very fast. You put your arm over your eyes to see something but the sight was getting less by every second that passed.
You, Hammer, and Theresa started to panic. “Help me! Please!” you begged inside the glowing mist. Hammer with half tears in her eyes looked at you then at Theresa panicked. “You have to do something. What's happening to him!?” Hammer screamed. “I can't do anything. This is way against the skills I have.” She said trying to sound calm. “What-” Hammer was about to say something as the mist disappeared, and you with it. Hammer stood there wide eyed. “What happened? Where is he? Theresa where is he!?” She screamed as she fell to her knees. Theresa walked to her side putting a hand on her shoulder to calm her down. “He will be alright. He will find his way back home.” Hammer was in tears as she looked at her. “You think so?” she sniffled. Theresa nodded. “Let's go home for now.” Her voice was even calmer now. Hammer nodded because she knew that Theresa was right.
Far away in a mansion in America was a Man. Roderick Burgess, he and other people stood in a dungeon under the house. They were a cult and Roderick Burgess was the leader of them. They stood around a summoning circle. They spoke in Latin, then the circle started glowing.
Right next to them was Morpheus held captive. He saw what they were doing. He laid there motionless watching them. As they summoned something, or someone. Then a little explosion was seen above the summoning circle and a bright glowing was there but when it vanished, there was a boy lying on the floor unconscious, on his belt was a well made sword and on his back was a crossbow.
“Take his weapons! And his clothes!” ordered Burgess. One of the cultists stepped towards you and bowed down to grab your sword, and another one grabbed your crossbow, then two others came and started to undress you, which led to you opening your eyes. “Oh, you're awake. Let's talk about business then.” You only glared at Burgess but stayed silent, you were now fully naked. “My Name is Roderick Burgess and I want you to be my personal guard, and hear on every command I give you. If you accept, you will get your stuff back. But if you don't, we will put you in a cage and you will rot in there until you die or eventually give in and accept.” again you stayed silent and didn't respond. Burgess let's out a disappointed sigh, then he nodded at the others and walked away.
While you were put into the glass ball you saw a another male that was also naked, in the cage next to yours. He was tall, and skinny, had black hair and bright blue eyes that stared right into yours as you now laid there.
Out of nowhere, Burgess stepped right in front of your view. You looked at him but didn't dare to move a muscle. “I have that you will rethink about my offer. Even if you don't want to, in the end, you will starve and start to beg for it. I hope you're smarter than this.” then he left again.
When he and everyone left it was only you and the other caged male. You both starred at each other again, only that you didn't really look at him because you thought about Theresa and Hammer, and the fact that you miss them and only wanted to get out of here and back home. Your eyes started burning so closed your eyes and silently let the tears slip.
Morpheus watched you as the tears slipped out of your eyes, but after a short while they stopped, and then he noticed that you probably fell asleep, which was probably better that way, is all what Morpheus thought.
The next day you opened your eyes and sat up slowly. Right now you tried to stay calm so you closed your eyes again. And while sitting there you felt the other males eyes on you but you ignored it.
Then Burgess came in and walked in front of Morpheus's cage. Two other people sat in the back playing a game. Burgess held himself on the cage. “The woman who lives with me has gone and robbed me of my fortune. She’s also robbed you. She's taken your helm, your sand, and your ruby.” this made you open your eyes and look at them. “Now I can unlock this, you can go after her…” Morpheus looked up at Burgess with a glare. “If you give me what I've been asking for. Wealth, youth, immortality. Oh, your a god. These things are nothing to you. Don't you want your weapons and freedom? Just like you Hero?” Burgess said lowly looking between the two of you.
So when you and the male in front of him didn't answer he got impatient and angry. “Speak to me! Speak to me! Speak to me!” he screamed and banged his stick against the glass, which caused the male to flinch shortly. A boy came walking from behind. “Come on! Speak to me!” he screamed again. “It's all right, Father.” the boy put his hand on his shoulder tho stop Burgess of what he was doing. ‘That asshole has a kid?’ is all you thought.
Burgess pushed him away. “Get away from me! If you were any kind of son to me…” he told him as he held the stick in the air and lashed out to the boy, but he dodged it, but hit him with the second one. The boy grabbed the stick so they both held it and faced each other. “If Randell was still alive today-” Burgess was cut off by the boy. “If Randell were alive, he would hate you as much as I do.” he said with hatred, and pushed Burgess back as he tried to attack the boy again, which led him to lose his balance hand his head hit the cage.
Burgess let the stick fall hand put his hand on the back of his head and saw blood when he looked at it, then he fell to the ground, with a big wound on the back of his head.
The to other man and the boy rushed to him. “Sir?” one of them said in panic. But when the boy put his hand on Burgess’s head as he saw a pool of blood leaping out of the wound. You and Morpheus only watched the scene. “You won't get out of there. Never.” Burgess looked at You and Morpheus one more time, then his eyes closed. “Sir can you hear me? Sir?” one of the male askedand tried to shake him but Brugess didn't answer. He was Dead.
The boy looked shocked and looked at his father as he sat there on the ground. “He isn't moving. Is he…” one of the males said. “He's dead.” the other one answered as the boy stood up, Looking at his bloodied hand and back to his dead father.
The Boy stumbled away a few feet but stopped between our cages. He stopped at the cage of the other male and turned to look at him. Morpheus stared back at him and slowly stood up, Your checks got red as you saw that but you wanted to see the interaction.
Morpheus reached his hand out. ‘He’s probably asking him to open the cage.’ is what you thought. The boy turned his head a bit as he reached out too. “Don't do it, sir. He’ll kill us.” one of the males said. “What would your father say?” the male spoke again, Before the boy's hand touched the glass he stopped and put his hand back down, and looked at the ground.
The male in the cage looked disappointed, as the boy looked back up. “I need to think.” he said and looked at the other male then to you, then he left. Morpheus also had put his hand back down watching him leave.
You were angry, but still, you stood up slowly wich made Morpheus look at you. You were a bit ashamed because you had no clothes on but you pushed that aside as you both looked at each other. You held sadness in your eyes as you slowly reached out and put one hand flat on the glass. Morpheus did the same while staring into your eyes. When you looked at him you immediately felt safe.
Then nine months later the door to the Dungeons door was heard which made the guards stand up and open the gate. Alex and also another boy came in. “How are they today, Rogers?” Alex asked. Rogers sighed. “Moved his hand this morning. Right hand. And the other one is also just sitting there but didn't move.” Alex nodded, as the other boy walked in. He had a look of shock on his face and gasped. “Oh, my God.” he looked at Alex and back to you and Morpheus. “Alex?” he asked.
Alex then walked in looking at the both of you. “Hello. This is my friend, Paul.” he told you as they walked further in. “Paul, these are our unwilling guests.” he said looking at his friend shortly.
Alex was getting a little nervous. “Look, we've been talking, Paul and I, and if I let you out, will you promise not to harm us?” he asked calmly while looking at us. You both didn't move not answered his question. “If you could just speak to us.” Paul said a little nervous himself, but again silence.
Alex looked at Paul. “You see, I told you.” he was a little disappointed. “I'm telling you, you have to keep trying. Show them that they can trust you. Show them that you mean it.” Paul softly awnsered back.
Alex nodded at us. “I do mean it. Just promise that you won't hurt me or Paul, and I will let you out.” Alex tried to reason. But again we didn't answer. We just looked at them this time.
Almost eighty years later you had developed feelings for the Male in the cage next to you which was weird because you didn't even know his name, but little did you know that Morpheus also grew feelings for you.
Also the guards started to change every now and then until they looked very modern. And you, you were still looking young and didn't age which you thought was weird and not normal, but Alex was old now just as Paul was, they both married year's ago. They were in the dungeon again. Alex stood in front of Morpheus's cage and had his hand on the glass. “I could have asked you for wealth or Power, and protection, like my father did. But all I wanted was to be free of you two.” He said softly.
You and Morpheus looked up at him. “Surely you want that too.” Paul walked into view pushing a wheelchair in front of him. “Alex, darling, please.” he said softly mentioning to the wheelchair. Alex put his hand away from the glass and sat down in the wheelchair, Paul's hand on his shoulder. He looked at us one more time. “Take me upstairs, Paul. I won't be coming down here again.” is all that he said as Paul started to push the wheelchair, and now there was a gap in the protective circle. Paul stopped a few feet away and looked back seeing it, then he looked at us and made a small nod. He then around and and left with Alex.
Morpheus looked at the gap and wondered why Paul would do that, but in the end it doesn't matter, he can free himself and you now and that's all that matters to him right now.
So when they got out, and the door to the dungeon closed, it was only two guards left inside. “Old Dracula here’s not moving an inch. Just like the other weirdo.” the Female guard said quietly, looking up from her book she was reading. “Why do you call it Dracula and weirdo?” The male guard said tiredly while looking up from his newspaper. “Because I think they are. What do you think they are?” she asked quickly.
The male sighed. “I try not. You know what I think about?” he asked her, again looking up from his newspaper. “Majorca. Four days… and I'll be on a beach. Stinking of suntan lotion.” he said and smiled to himself at the thought.
Morpheus leaned forward holding himself on the glass while glaring at the guard. And you were just watching. “Lucky bugger. I was on Corfu on holiday once.” the female guard told as the other one yawned and fell asleep. Suddenly something weird starts to happen as Morpheus stares at the guard. The guard stood up from his chair and shot both of our cages and they started to break. You sat there wide eyed. “Fred!” the female guard screamed.
She ran towards him to stop him. “Fred, stop it! You'll… Fred!” she screamed but it was too late Both of your cages exploded into many pieces and our surroundings were glowing. You and Morpheus got out of your cages. “Don’t move! Stay where you are!” the guy called Fred screamed. “What… what's he got in his hands?” the female screamed. You looked at Morpheus and saw that he had something in his balled fist but you couldn't see it.
Morpheus slowly put his hand up where he held something in it right in front of his face. The guards already had their weapons aimed at us. “Oi! Open your hands, now!” she screamed at him.
And so he opened his Hand and you saw him blowing some sort of sand towards them, which made them instantly fall asleep. You were watching the scene curious. But then all of your strength suddenly left your legs and you fell to your knees right next to Morpheus with a thud. He instantly looked at you and kneeled down to your hight.
He slowly put his hand on your cheek and his eyes looked at you softly. “I'll get us out of here.” he said and his tone was smooth but very deep. You melted into his hand and nodded at him. Then he slowly picked you up bridal style. Your arms around his waist as you were sucked into the glowing. You… you were getting your revenge now.
Then in a room a black cat came in and sat on a chair in the middle of the room. There also came Alex into the room he looked young again and he curiously looked at the cat with his head tilted to the side. Suddenly the cat disappeared and Morpheus sat on the chair and you stood beside him both fully clothed as you looked at Alex darkly. “Hello” Morpheus said.
Alex was scared you could see it in his eyes. “It's... It's you two. You're… you're free.” he said quietly. “We are.” Morpheus simply awnsered as he stood up and the wind started to blow through the open window. “And have you any idea what it was like? Confined in a cage for over a century?” he asked as he slowly walked towards Alex. “Do you understand the damage you've done to your world?” he asked again. Alex was more then just scared now, he was terrified. “I'm sorry. I… I didn't know. Please.” he said backing away a bit.
Morpheus looked at him unbothered just like you. “Your punishment, then, shall be a gift.” when he said that Alex turned to a little boy. “I give you this, the gift… of eternal… sleep.” when he finished the sentence he blow some sand in Alex’s face and he fell asleep.
Morpheus looked looked back at you holding his hand out. “Let's get out of here.” That's all you needed to hear and took his hand as he teleported you both.
A voice was heard. ”Sir. Sir.” It was the panicked voice of Lucienne. “Oh, my goodness.” she kneeled down to turn him onto his back. “Sir. It's me!” she panted as she saw his eyes opening. “It's Lucienne.” she said as Morpheus looked at her and started to smile and took her hand. “Lucienne.” he whispered weakly. “Your home, my Lord.” and that's when Morpheus started to frown. When he looked beside him he noticed you weren't there. “My Lord? What's wrong?” she asked worriedly.
Morpheus started to stand up. “A boy, he was held captive. Just like me. I brought him with me.” He said as he started to look around. Not even a minute later he saw you laying a few feet away from him, and he immediately sprinted towards you with Lucienne. “A Human? Why was he held captive?” she asked confused. Morpheus shook his head as he turned you around and saw you breathing normally. “He is not fully human, it seems. Because he didn't age for almost a century. The man who held us captive once called him Hero.” Lucienne looked at him baffled. “Do you think he is one of the three heroes? My Lord?” she asked. “I don't know.” is all he awnsered as he gently put a hand on your cheek which made you open your eyes.
When you saw him you started to smile. “Your safe now.” Morpheus said softly as he helped you off of the ground. You looked around and saw the woman with pointy ears and smiled at her. “Hello, jung Man.” she smiled back at you. You were a little scared to speak because you didn't talk since you were held captive, but you decided to still try it. “H-Hello.” you said but your voice didn't sound raspy or broken as you thought it would be. Morpheus and Lucienne smiled at you. “Thank you, for taking me with you…” you started but you trailed off because you didn't know his name.
Morpheus smiled softly at you. “My name is Morpheus. And this is Lucienne.” he told you. “Thank you, Morpheus. And my name is Y/N.” you smiled at both of them.
You started walking over to very huge gates on a massive wall. On those big gates were some pictures in it it looked well made. It made you look at them amazed with your mouth wide open. Morpheus looked at you and chuckled. “You like them?” he asked which made you blink before realizing, and looked at him. “Yeah! I-I mean they look astonishing!” you smiled at him nervously.
Morpheus then raised his hand and touched the gates, they began shaking and started to open up. “Forgive me, sir, but… the realm, the palace… they are not as you left them.” Lucienne said as Morpheus looked at her. Morpheus looked through the gate as it opened. His look… he was shocked with what happened to his Realm… his home.
You, looked shocked too, even if you didn't know how it looked like before. You saw the dead trees and bushes, the land looked like as if it was completely dead. Then you saw that a piece of the roof from the half destroyed castle fell down. “What happened here? Who did this?” He asked not daring to look away from his destroyed home.
Lucienne let out a sigh. “My Lord, you are The Dreaming, The Dreaming is you. With you gone as long as you were, the realm began to… decay. And crumble.” she looked at him sadly as he looked back at her. “And the residents? The Palace staff?” Morpheus asked with a little hope. “I'm afraid most have… gone.” she looked at the ground. “Gone?” he asked rising his eyebrows. “Some went looking for you.” she looked back at him. “And the others?” He asked walking in front of her. Lucienne looked back down to her side, then back up. “They thought, perhaps, you'd grown weary of your duties and…” Morpheus stopped her. “What? Abandoned them? Had they so little faith in me?” he asked in disbelief.
Lucienne didn't know what to say. You on the other concentrated on the view that was in front of you, as the conversation went deff on your ears. You slowly started to move away from them and towards the destroyed landscape. You felt welcomed even if the view in front of you didn't look welcoming in the first place. You closed your eyes whilst you took in the fresh air.
Lucienne looked towards you, which made Morpheus look behind him and he sees that you are walking away from them. When suddenly they saw some tears rolling down your face, when you turned your head sideways.
Lucienne looks worried. Then you felt a hand on your shoulder which made you open your eyes and look at the person who's hand was on your shoulder. It was Morpheus. You look at him puzzled. “Y/N?” Morpheus asked. “Yes? Is something wrong?” you tilted your head. “You seemed lost in thoughts. What's wrong?” he asked softly. “Didn’t notice that! I'm happy to be free again and out of this tiny cell in that weird Dungeon… Aaaand I'm probably a little tired after some sleepless nights.” You laughed awkwardly while scratching your head.
Morpheus nodded. “How about a little sleep then?” He asked while rising a brow. “Hmmm, no. Not before I helped you rebuild your realm!” you said grinning and put your hands on your hips. “But if you want to help him, you will need your sleep.” Lucienne reasoned. You humed. “You're probably right. Okay, I'll sleep once we’re there.” you smiled. Morpheus nodded again. “Let's go shall we?” you nodded at his question and walked beside him.
When you arrived at the castle, Morpheus turned towards you. “Come with me, I show you where you can sleep,” he started as you part ways with Lucienne. “Can I ask you something, Morpheus?” you look at him. “Of course. What do you want to know?” you thought for a short second. “I wanted to know who you are besides Morpheus, you know?” you asked nervously. Morpheus smiled and made a small chuckle. “I am an Endless, Dream of the Endless to be exact. People also call me the Sandman. Also we're here.” he said opening a door to a bedroom that was still intact. When you went inside you saw that the room was painted in black, but it was held simple.
You pulled your shoes, coat, and shirt off. When you sat down on the bed, Morpheus follows you and stands in front of you. “Who's room is this?” you asked looking around. “It's mine.” he simply answered. Your head shot into his direction while standing up. “I didn't know. I can sleep on the floor too.” you tried to say as he already put a hand on your shoulder and sat you back down. “It's alright. I told you to sleep, didn't I?” you looked baffled as you nodded at him. “Now, lay down.” you did as you were told and pulled the covers over you.
Morpheus kneels down to your height, and holds a closed hand in front of his face, which makes you realize what he was about to do so you stop him. “Wait!” you said which made him raise a brow. “Yes?” he asks while looking into your eyes. “We can share the bed if you want! I mean if it's okay with you…” you said shyly. This catches Morpheus off guard but he starts to smirk slightly. “If that's what you want. I will. But I will go and talk to Lucienne shortly, then I'll be back.” he says and you give him a closed-eyed smile. “Yeah, I'll wait.” Morpheus gives you a nod as he stands up and leaves the room grinning to himself.
About ten minutes later he returned. “I'm here now.” he says and you simply nod at him. So he pulls his shirt and pants off but leaves the boxers on. He walks over to the empty side of the bed and gets under the covers. You both stare at each other until you slowly fell asleep. Morpheus smiled at your peaceful sleeping face as he slowly touched your cheek with his hand. Then the next second, you had your arms around him and snuggled into his chest. “Good night, Y/N.” Morpheus had a small smile on his face as he laid his arms around your body.

Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
"What's the matter, Matthew?" The words of the King of Dreams echoed through the wide halls of the entrance to his palace.
The Dream Lord found his raven very busy in another matter, that being melting onto your touch while he nuzzled on your lap.
"We have a visitor, my lord." Was all the raven could respond as your gentle fingers brushed down the feathers of his head making him caw.
"Why are you here?" He asked not really knowing what tone should he use with you.
"I'm afraid I'm not here because I wanted to see you, but because I have a problem with dreams, my lord." You said mockingly as you caressed the feather's of the new raven before standing up and meeting his star filled eyes and long figure, those black ropes dripping down the marble floor.
"Enlighten me then. What kind of problems are dreams causing you, dream witch?" Morpheus muttered with the silky smooth voice that you adore, you took his arm and begin to walk, seeming so normal, muscle memory perhaps.
"It must be something important if it makes you come to my palace after two hundred years. Something that goes beyond the centuries of knowledge you possess." He spoke gently. You smirked and looked at him and although his gaze remained emotionless but you know when your ex-husband is teasing you.
"A client of mine. She's been having this— weird dreams about her family telling her very specific things." You explained as you begin to walk alongside the Endless, the night sky that lied above your head on the palace's ceiling captured your eyes.
You stoped for a moment to look at it, missing it's beauty.
"I've been looking inside her dreams, trying to decipher their meaning." You continues with a tone of slight frustration before meeting his gaze, noticing his starry eyes looking at your every moment.
"You came here just to ask the meaning of some mortal's dream?" Morpheus asked as his eyes took in your image, you smirked again and shaked your head.
"No. I don't give up that easily, Oneiros." You smirked with smugness, the Dream Lord mimicked your smirk.
"I never said you did. Why is it that you're here then, moonshine?" He asked as he walked you through to the large halls of the palace.
Moonshine, what a nickname to give someone, specially coming from the Lord of Dreams. The Endless that finds you as bright as the shine of the moon, a signal of light in darkness.
It's been so long since he's mutter such nickname.
"Well, It's been costing me my sleeping hours, but that's not new— the things is when I do sleep I have dreamless rest or the most horrible nightmares." You whispered, there was a linger of anger on your tone.
"I came here to ask you something, Dream."
"Ask away, moonshine."
"Have I done something wrong? Something to deserve this punishment, perhaps?" Your whispers makes him stop on his tracks, his eyes meet yours. The Lord of Dreams face had an expression one of confusion and deep sadness.
"Do you think that is my doing? You think of yourself worth of a punishment so severe?" He whispers back, his eyes looking at your tired eyes, the darks circles under them.
"Do you think I would do such thing as that to you?"
You stayed silent, looking away from his gaze. His pale hand cupped your cheek, you gasped and a silent tear fell down your cheek which was wiped by his thumb that consequently held your chin and make you meet his eyes once more.
"The answer is no. I am not punishing you because those night terrors that invade your sleep were not send by me, moonshine." He whispered with such conviction.
As in saying "Believe me. I could never harm you."
"And you have never wrong me nor this realm. You've been an impecable aid and- companion for me." He stated, you smiled and felt yourself blushing, a yawn scaped your lips and his gaze softened.
"Am I boring you, moonshine?" Morpheus smirked you looked at him with sleepy eyes.
"It's not my fault your voice is so comforting and I'm- exhausted for my work and the horrible sleep I've had." You explained before smiling.
"Comforting?" The Dream Lord asked, you nodded and looked up at him with a smile.
"Soothing. Perfect for listening while you fall asleep." You explained before yawning again.
Feeling his hand on the back of your neck and in a matter of second you were lied down on the softest of mattresses, resting your head on a pillow that could pass for a cloud.
You looked up and met the most beautiful night sky you've ever seen, pink and purple surrounded with constellations.
The bed itself was almost floating in between marble floors and the night sky.
This is the room of Dream of the Endless himself.
"Why are you not sleeping yet?" Morpheus's voice snap you back to reality, you meet his eyes that now shine with the reflections of the galaxy that surrounds you.
"I dunno, maybe you've lost your touch." You teased, The Dream Lord furrowed his eyebrows but his lips let out a soft chuckle.
"Perhaps you're just stubborn." He whispered while his slim finger caress your cheek, you leaned on his touch so quickly that it made you disappointed in yourself but it felt so good.
"Those nightmares won't bother you again, my moonshine." Morpheus stated as his fingers kept moving across your face with delicacy.
"Why am I in your room? There's like two hundred guest rooms." You asked as your eyes closed. Dream fell silent for a second.
"Because I- want you here." He started speaking so softly almost as if he was embarrassed to say it, you nodded for him to continue.
"Your precense on The Dreaming has been missed, the creatures of the dreaming had voiced that sentiment many times." The Endless continued, his mouth still slight open, you could picture him trying to find the right words.
You nodded once more, it always difficult for him to speak his emotions and needs.
"The haunted dolls of my shop miss you." You spoke sleepy, The Dream Lord arched his eyebrow and smirked as his hand moved to your hair, touching it with a hint of shyness, thinking if he's still allowed to do such motion. Afraid of crossing any lines or boundaries.
"The- dolls? Do you miss me, perchance?" He asked with a uncharacteristically shy and insecure voice, you opened your eyes.
"Do you, Oneiros? Or just the creatures of your realm?" You snapped back with a smirk. He leaned closer to you, the stars in his eyes shining bright, his thumb stroked your bottom lip as his eyes got lost on yours.
"Yes." Morpheus whispered with a discreet but playful smile once that 'yes' was heard by you.
"I do miss you, moonshine."
You closed your eyes once more after his words, so much sincerity and raw devotion within such a short sentence.
"I miss you too, starlight." You whispered back with a smile, Morpheus smirked and kept stroking your hair.
How has he missed that nickname.
A play of words with the one he has for you.
Starlight. The light of a start that accompanies the shining moon at night. He wonders how, of all things, you could see him as a star.
The drowsiness was unbearable now for you.
The last thing you felt before falling asleep was a gentle kiss on your forehead.
"Sleep well, moonshine." Morpheus whispered against your ear, making you fall into a deep and much needed rest, filled with the sweetest dreams one could imagine of.
And of course, The Dream king holding your hand all the time, supervising these dreams.

Lost & Found
Chapter 1 - Time for a hunt
Word count: 1,491
Genre: Fluff/Angst/Drama/Slight horror
TW: none
Tumblr media
The young man was pacing around in his living room. Thoughts running tons of kilometers a second as he tried to think through everything that was said to him a minute ago. He couldn't believe what he just heard, in fact he thought that he has misheard what he was told, but the truth was that his hearing was working perfectly, it was just the fact that the information was so shocking it was hard to believe. He never would've thought that THIS might happen. Yet here he was, finally stopping his frantic walking in front of the raven haired man. He wanted to make sure one last time.
-So you want to tell me that Valgrat is wandering around somewhere here in The Waking? - the hunter asked looking with bewilderment at the powerful being standing before him. The information still not really coding in his brain. That is so not what he expected to hear first thing in the morning, not before even having his first cup of coffee to start the day.
-Yes, Y/N, I wouldn't be here if it wasn't urgent and I didn't need your help with bringing him back to The Dreaming - said the anthropomorphic personification of dreams as he looked ahead through the window in the hunter's apartment. He had no other choice but to come and ask the man for help. He was desperate. His creation wandered into the human realm and caused a bunch of chaos, not to even mention his decision of having some humans as a late night snack. He had to bring him back, but he couldn't find him. He was hiding very well, his ability to shape and take face of anyone he wanted making everything harder. So who else if not a certain Nightmare Hunter with whom he had shared some history could help him in finding his lost Nightmare?
The immortal started pacing once more, furthermore annoying the Endless. Dream grabbed Y/N by his arm making him stop in his tracks and pulled him to himself, so they were face to face. The hunter's eyes widened as he stood so close to the Dream Lord, swallowing hard the saliva that gathered in his mouth, feeling his dry throat finally get some lubrication. He wasn't used to being so close to someone, even though both him and Morpheus shared some past together. But that's what their situationdhip was - a past, so standing so close to him now was sending his heart into a cardiac arrest. Clearly he couldn't still feel something after so long? But oh god, what if he was? This simple thought made a blush appear on the man's cheeks. The Endless raised an eyebrow wlhen he saw it, but said nothing, making a mental note to ask about it after all of this is over.
-Please, help me find him and I won't bother you again - said Morpheus. His heart had a different opinion on this matter than his brain. It was screaming at him to never leave again. To fix what was between them, because surely something was still there. He could feel it, yet he didn't know what to do in this situation. Morpheus didn't want to appear as if he was in need of the hunter's affection and attention, his ego oh so ever present. He was an Endless for the sake of all that is present. He had his duties, he was a King, he was as old as the need to sleep and dream was. So why did he feel helpless and his "soul" feel like it was yearning and longing to reach the man's in front of him? Why did it feel so freeing and good to be in his presence? As if his whole body was singing.
-Okay... I'll help you - Y/N nearly added that Dream didn't have to feel like he was bothering him. That he doesn't have to leave, that he could stay and he wouldn't mind. He wanted him to stay. He felt the need to plead Morpheus not to leave him again. But he didn't say it. His own pride blinding him and not letting him say those words to not appear as if he was begging and craving for the raiven haired man's love. Begging was not "in his style". So he stayed silent. Words caught in his throat.
-Thank you, lo-Y/N - Morpheus quickly stopped himiself from making, in his perspective, a mistake. He coughed and took a step back.
He couldn't do it. Not again. Not after what happened last time. He couldn't repeat his mistakes, no matter how tempting it was. Y/N's eyes widened visibly, shocked at the Endless's little slip up, his heart skipping a beat. This couldn't be happening. Not now. Not after so many years. Why now? After he fially made peace with all of it? Or at least he thought he did. A thousand questions swirling around in his mind. A thousand questions that want to spill out of his mouth and engulf Morpheus, suffocate him wanting to get answers. But he didn't let them. He kept his lips tightly shut as he slowly nodded and turned around, his back now facing Morpheus.
-Yeah, uh... No problem, after all that's what I do, isn't it? - He said, still slightly flusttered. - So, do you have any idea where Valgrat might be? Just a general area? I can start digging from there on - the hunter announced, a shiver going through his whole body as he felt the gust of cold wind slip through the cracked open window of his apartment. He didn't even remember when he had opened it. But it didn't matter as Morpheus went up to it and closed it, seeing Y/N's reaction. He thanked Dream quietly, bashful because of the Endless's action.
-Indeed, I do. It appears that he wandered to an American state called Kansas. I don't know the name of the city he might be in now, but I know the name of one that he was in when he first showed up there - Morpheus said, walking over to the big world map displayed on one of the hunter's walls. He got close to it, searching for a certain name and when he found it, he pointed to it and said its name out loud. - Beloit.
-Then I guess I need to pack my bags and catch a last minute flight to America - Y/N said. - Kansas, here we come! - he exclaimed with mock excitement as he moved from his spot to walk to his bedroom and take out his bags.
He started throwing some different types of clothes into the bag, not really knowing what weather to prepare for, so he just put in a bit of everything. When he was done, he put the bag filled with clothes on the floor, close to the doors and reached of the second one. This one is gonna be so much more fun to fill. Y/N went up to his closet and pushed aside some of the clothing hangers, revealing a wooden wall behind them. He tapped the right upper corner two times with his fingers and the left lower corner three times, performing something like out of Harry Potter. Which wouldn't be far from the thruth because the wooden wall started to push back further into the wall and splitting in the middle, two side going into different directions to finally reveal something that shouldn't be seen by normal people. A hunter-worthy arsenal of weapons. Y/N's little heaven. He had all kind of weaponery in there. From different types and sizes of knifes, machetes and swords to multiple guns. Bigger or smaller, heavier or lighter, small damage or big damage. Take your pick. Hell, even a whip. He packed everything he thought of as needed and closed the bag, taking it into his hand and walking up to the door to pick up the second bag into his other hand.
-Alright. I'm done packing. Do you want to meet already on the spot or...? - a question about having some company with him on the journey to America appearing in his mind, but he stopped himself from asking it.
He thought it would be weird and that surely Morpheus would politely decline, saying that he has business of his to take care of, so it would mean that they would meet on spot. He didn't expect Morpheus's answer in the slightest though.
-No, I can take us there now - the Endless said before walking up to the hunter, pulling out his bag of sand and throwing some around them, then wrapping his arms around the man as if to protect him from any danger while traveling.
Both of them knowing that it was unnecessary, yet neither of them saying or doing anything about it. And then they dissapeared in the small tornado of sand. Direction: Kansas, Beloit!

Having a crush on someone can either make your heart soar or drown it in agony. You somehow managed to lose your heart to a person who will never return your feelings.
You let out a sigh as you fall on your bed, clutching a pillow for comfort. You still remember how you met Morpheus.
You rarely remembered your dreams, only fleeting images at best. Your sleep had always been uneventful, which is why this nightmare hit you so hard.
You had woken up in a blur, skin covered in a sheen of sweat, your heart racing as your body was ready to run, to flee. In the nightmare, you hadn’t seen the creature hunting you, if it was beast or man, you only heard its unhuman growls and you caught glimpses of the glowing red eyes.
“This was terrifying,” you thought to yourself, trying to shake off the terror, and hoping that this would be the last of your subconsciousness delving into horror. It wasn’t.
The nightmare kept going on. You could never convince yourself to stand down and find out what exactly was chasing you; your imagination was cruel like that. Your urge to survive, to outrun this monster was strong, and you and your pride didn’t want to lose. You managed to change your surroundings, to run through a lush forest, to hide in a crowded city, to even fly through the sky, but you never managed to shake off your monster.
It continued for days, and sleep started to become your enemy. You became exhausted and moody, trying to fight off sleep as long as you could, basically turning your blood into caffeine. In the end, it didn’t matter, and the nightmare always found you.
You had had enough. Exhaustion had worn you down, and tonight you would simply face your demon. If it killed you, then at least you would wake up and be hopefully done with the nightmare.
You turned off the lights, shuffled to your bed and closed your eyes. The nightmare came quick.
You stood still, waiting for the demon to reach you, dread coiling inside your stomach as the red eyes came closer, as the growls turned into a vicious, thundering laugh. The creature approached, and you still couldn’t discern what it was. You just saw a massive dark shape, and the suspense was killing you.
“Stop,” a deep, male voice demanded, and your heart skipped a beat. A man dressed in dark clothes had appeared, giving the monster a withering glare, equal rage and disappointment. His pale skin was almost glowing, his hair as dark as the night, and his blue eyes as eternal and cool as glaciers.
“My lord, I was simply performing my duty,” the monster spoke, its voice shaking you to the core, twisted and snarling, making a shiver run down your spine.
“You are tormenting this mortal. You know the consequence.” The unknown man suddenly became more frightening than the monster as you heard the latter howl before disappearing in an instant. Who was he?
“At ease, dreamer,” the man said to you, his voice suddenly as inviting and soothing as a blanket of velvet. You felt the tension leave your body, your shoulders sinking as you let out a long sigh.
“I will guarantee you that you shall only have nice dreams for a while,” the man continued, and crossed the distance between you and him. He brought his thumb to the middle of your forehead, the touch featherlight, and you felt this world change. “This nightmare is over.”
                                  ----------------------------------------------
True to his word, you had surprisingly nice dreams. You swam with dolphins and mermaids, you met your favorite celebrity, you ruled over your kingdom as a benevolent monarch, and you even met people you had lost and longed to meet again.
While the dreams were nice, they couldn’t compare to the mysterious stranger. Your curiosity was relentless, and you wanted to meet him again. For a moment, you even wondered if one could force themselves to have nightmares, but then you reprimanded yourself. You weren’t that curious or desperate.
In the end, he returned to one of your dreams. You were sitting cross-legged in a meadow, cuddling a baby wolf, giggling as its rough tongue slid over your cheek.
“I am glad that you’re having nice dreams,” a familiar voice said, and you looked up from your very excited wolf pup to see the mysterious stranger look down at you, his eyes holding a glimpse of amusement.
“I am. Thank you very much,” you replied, gently shooing the pup from your lap so you could stand up.
“I still don’t know your name,” you continued, fighting the urge to nervously bite your lip. You just knew that he was more than just a part of your dreams.
“I am Morpheus, Dream of the Endless, king of dreams and ruler of the nightmare realm,” he explained, and your first reaction was to bow and incline your head. Was this smooth or just awkward? You felt a flush heating up your cheeks and the back of your neck.
This certainly explained why he got rid of the nightmare so easily and why could promise you nice dreams. You somehow managed to get the dream lord himself to rescue you as if you were a damsel in distress.
“Nice to meet you,” you say, extending your hand, before realizing that this may not be appropriate. You felt yourself freeze, only to defrost immediately when you felt his long fingers wrap around yours.
“Can I see you again?” Go big or go home, you decided.
“An odd request. I cannot make any promises, but I will try.”
                       ------------------------------------------------
Morpheus did more than try, and thanks to him, your dreams have become tangible, a refuge and a place you long to return to.
You take a sip from your cup, sitting in front of your tv. This is only half the truth. Morpheus has made your dreams better. Every time you close your eyes, you hope to see him again in your dreams.
You’re a fool with a lost heart.
Every time you see him, your heart seems to swell, but every time you manage to channel the courage to finally tell him about your feelings, the words don’t come.
You like to believe that you’ve grown close. Morpheus has shown you his palace, has introduced you to Matthew and Lucienne. You have spent many dreams in the library, discussing books and stories, or letting Morpheus’ marvelous voice enchant you. And yet...
You’re a scared fool with a lost heart.
                       -----------------------------------------------
You’re waiting on a warm beach, the salty breeze tugging at your hair, your toes digging into the soft sand. You somehow know that he will come. Your heart can feel it.
“Are you afraid?” Morpheus asks, and you turn around to face him. You wish you could say that you’ve become used to his otherworldly beauty, but it still takes your breath away sometimes.
“Why are you asking?” You try to give him an innocent look, while screaming internally. What if he knows? Morpheus is kind of omniscient when it comes to dreamers, right?
“Your heart is racing.” Morpheus slowly takes one step towards, then another, until he stands right beside you. He gently places his hand on your shoulder, his fingers resting on the pulse point of your neck, and you feel hot and cold at the same time. Your heart had been racing when you met him, but these were very different circumstances.
“I…” Your mind is blank. You wish you could tell a joke, or change the subject, or finally tell him your feelings, but you just stand there, your mouth opening and closing like a fish.
“Say it.” His voice is deliciously soft, and you feel yourself drowning in his endless blue eyes. Your skin tingles with electricity.
“You make my heart race.” It is done. For a brief moment, you feel overwhelming relief, before your eyes widen in realization that you actually confessed your feelings. Oh no.
Morpheus gives you a smirk, and then takes your hand, placing it on his chest. You feel the steady drum of his immortal heart.
“I feared that I would never hear you confess,” Morpheus says, almost teasing you, and you feel like you’re on cloud nine.
With unexpected bravery, you stand on your tiptoes and press your lips to his, the kiss as gentle and warm as the sunset. Morpheus chuckles as he moves his lips with yours, cradling your jaw, and you feel your heart sing with glee.
Who knew that a nightmare could result in such a fairytale?

Summary: Morpheus’s lover had tried and failed to rescue him in his prison. So when Morpheus gets out, the two of them celebrate his freedom in their own way (I wrote stuff for the fems, now it’s time for the mascs) :)

(Y/N) pressed Morpheus against the wall of their room, kissing him desperately. It had been ages, ages since he had been able to touch the King of the Dreaming.
“Fuck, it’s been a while.” (Y/N) chuckled, running his hands under Morpheus’s shirt. The Dream Lord gasped at the feeling of his lover’s hands on him, not used to the touch of another person.
(Y/N) stilled his hands, waiting until Morpheus kissed him again to let him know it was okay to continue
“Indeed.” Morpheus breathed out. “I’m glad that you’re alright. I was worried.”
(Y/N) scoffed, knowing exactly what he was talking about. “It took a while to heal. But you didn’t need to worry. I’m unkillable.” Morpheus chuckled at that boasting.
When Morpheus had disappeared, his lover had spent decades looking for him. When he finally found Morpheus and tried to save him, he got shot by the humans holding the King hostage.
The house was too protected for (Y/N) to try again, having magic but not being nearly as powerful as the Endless. He spent the next year healing, trying to figure out a plan.
Trying not to exhaust all his powers by razing that entire building to the ground. The only reason he didn’t was because he didn’t want to risk Morpheus. And because it would probably kill (Y/N), but mainly for Morpheus’s safety.
But now Morpheus was back. And after years of worry, they were finally together again.
And after hours of talking, and some crying, and just holding his partner in his arms, they began to make up for lost time.
He undid Morpheus’s pants, taking him in his hand. His lover’s hands were gripped on (Y/N)‘s arms as Morpheus had his face buried in his lovers neck as (Y/N) touched him.
(Y/N) gripped Morpheus’s hair in his other hand, knowing that drove the King wild. Years of being together let (Y/N) know exactly what made his Morpheus tick.
He came with a low groan, biting at (Y/N) shoulder to keep quiet.
Shoving Morpheus onto the bed, he kissed him passionately. Breathing heavily as he pushed his cock into the Dream Lord, (Y/N) thanked whatever higher power he could for bringing his lover back to him. He had missed this feeling so much.
“(Y/N)!” Morpheus gasped, just as relieved that he had (Y/N) back. “I…”
“Yeah, yeah.” (Y/N) could feel his high rapidly approaching, knowing that Morpheus’s was as well.
When (Y/N) finally came - working Morpheus through his orgasm - he nearly laughed at the joy he felt from the feeling.
He wouldn’t let anything take Morpheus away from him ever again. (Y/N) didn’t care how many times he’d get shot, their enemies should be scared.
He’d destroy them all.

A Vision Of Beauty
Tumblr media
Summary:
Morpheus finds himself in a dream of bright twisted forests, of figures dancing in the wind, and laughter that rings through his mind. At the heart of this, he finds a vision of beauty - golden wings arched, ascending to the skies, a broken halo cast around a figure whose laughter was that he’d heard. At the heart of this, he finds you.

We interrupt your daily dose of existence for this snippet of trash because I, once again, have fallen for another fictional character.
Tumblr media
It starts, as all things do, with a dream, or rather, the interference of one.
The Hellborne, bringer of destruction, spawn to the Lightbringer, the humans called you by many names, several of which stood as insults. He stepped forward, calling out your name; you turned to him and groaned; the dream faded away. “So tell me then, Lord of Dreams,” you utter his name mockingly, “what do you wish from me?”
“I would like it if you ceased your interference,” he responded, stepping forward.
“Interference?”
“You walk in the human's minds and twist the dreams,” he says.
You laugh, “Is it my fault if they choose to dedicate their slumbering thoughts to me?” You pace around him, wings brushing his arms as you do so, “If I didn’t know better, I’d say you envy the attention I give them.”
He grabs your arm, squeezing with force, “You think a being of my caliber would envy humanity, much less desire your attention?”
“Oh, sweet little Dream,” you mutter, wings encompassing his form, “Why else would you hound me so?”
Morpheus was intriguing. Your mother despised him to some extent but seemed to enjoy toying with him; when you grew bored of the pits of hell, you decided to step into the world of man. Humans were such sweet things; their thoughts influenced their devotions and dreams, so influencing some wasn’t that hard. Although, your influence bled into everything, and when it came to their dreams, you often had to contend with a visit from Morpheus. He’d often chase you away and right whatever damage you’d left behind, though it was barely much.
“I hound you because you irritate me,” he seethes.
“You tell such wicked lies.” You crowd him closer with your wings, “Like the first night I took you apart, at the altar of a church,” you grin. Clawed hand skimming over his jaw, “You cried like an angel adorned by the candlelight. You lied then, said you did not find me desirable, yet were the one to initiate it.”
“Our fornication is not up for discussion at this time,” he tries to redirect the conversation back to its original point but stops short when you take hold of his chin. “Distracting me from the matter at hand will not deter me.”
“You always say that.” Morpheus huffed, and you leaned in for a kiss; the world shifted around you and emerged as the Dreamworld. You did not part though, the kiss deepened, and your hands trailed each other’s bodies; your claws dug into his clothes and pierced his skin. His own hands pulled you even closer, determined to rid any space left in between. When the chance to part comes, you waste no time whisking the man away to his castle and spending your time having your way with him.

𝓰𝓲𝓿𝓮 𝓶𝓮 𝓵𝓸𝓿𝓮.

pairing: morpheus x cupid!reader
a/n: as you can see from the title, this is inspired by ed sheeran - give me love
summary: as a cupid, all your life you've been giving love, but no one ever gives it to you. until one day, in a dream...
warnings: maybe unrequited love?, suicide if you squint and if it counts when you're immortal.
word count: 542
【❣】 【❣】 【❣】
For years, decades, centuries you were around, doing your job strictly. Roaming the Earth, looking at people, studying them. They were always daydreaming, longing for love. And you'd give it to them. Shooting them with your little heart-shaped arrows at the right time, in the right place.
They were so easy to fall in love. For most of them, it was already before their eyes, they just needed a little bit of help, they needed you. All your life you were a love-giver, but never a receiver. You were always hiding in the dark, in the corners, clutching the little glass arrow, waiting, a bit of dried blood still on your fingers from where you've cut yourself for the hundredth time while making the weapon of love.
You were watching the two bestfriends walking, laughing, You could see how one of them was watching the other, a look you've never seen someone give to you. You knew how the person was always dreaming about love, yet you've never dreamt yourself as you've never fallen asleep. You didn't need sleep, nor food, nor anything but your job. The love you gave others, kept you alive.
"Boom" the arrow crashed into the person's back, immediately evaporating into pink dust. The person stopped, grabbing the other one's hand, stopping them. They looked into each others eyes and kissed - slow, passionate kiss. Making your heart ache.
Day after day it was like this. Day after day you wanted to know the feeling, to dream, to love. Someone to give you love.
So tonight, with a brand new heart arrow in the brightest red you had in your hand, you stood in your little sanctuary. Taking deep breaths, slowly moving it closer to your chest, you closed your eyes. You felt it - the tip touching your skin, burning it. Another deep breath as you pressed harder, opening your eyes at the sensation. Your vision blurred and soon you felt the cold ground underneath you.
...
"Who is she? What is she, my Lord?" you heard a woman's voice, followed by a beautiful male voice.
"I don't know, Lucienne, but she seems to be waking up." you slowly opened your eyes, vision still blurry, but in front of you there was a man. He has kneeled on the ground close to you, looking you with his silver eyes. His face was so unique it took your breath away - pale white skin, black hair and puffy lips, his jaw was so sharp you were sure you could cut yourself on it.
"Where am I?" was all you could say with raspy voice.
"In the Dreaming. Haven't you been here before?" in his deep voice you could hear a bit of shock. You shook your head.
"I've never dreamed." You heard the woman gasp and a quiet "hmm" from the man before you.
"Then I shall show you the Dreaming for I am Morpheus, Dream of the Endless and ruler of this realm." he gave you his hand, helping you to get up. And for a second you felt electricity where his hand touched yours and you both stopped, staring into each others eyes. And for the first time in your life, you were dreaming... of love.

Morpheus x Male!reader
Summary: Morpheus hasn't heard from his lover in a few days. At first he thinks (Y/N) is busy, but soon realizes that somebody took him. Morpheus is not happy.
Warnings: Kidnapping, violence, fluff,
Tumblr media
Morpheus had a bad feeling about his lover. He didn't hear from him in a couple of days and just a few moments ago, he couldn't enter his dreams. He knew, well he thought that (Y/N) would be asleep, so he tried to enter (Y/N)'s dreams. No luck.
Unfortunately, he had some problems with the Corinthian recently, so he had to deal with him and clean up the mess. Because of it, he didn't have the time to visit his lover, but now, he was in front of his apartment. He knocked, but didn't hear anything from the inside. Morpheus was confused beyond belief now. It's night, he should be sleeping in his bed, waiting for Morpheus. He entered the apartment.
Morpheus didn't like this one bit. He walked further in and stopped in the living room. Nothing seemed out of the ordinary but when the glass coffee table was shattered and there was some blood. He didn't want to think about an abduction, but this has confirmed his worst fears. For the first time in centuries he felt fear like this. Morpheus didn't want his lover to go through the same thing as he did.
He took a deep breath in order to calm himself down. He needs to think about how to approach this. He doesn't want to get (Y/N) hurt even more. He doesn't even know where to start looking. Could it be Corinthian? Sure, he hates Morpheus, but would he go this far to spite Morpheus?
Would he really kidnap his lover? Did he kill him already? No.
Morpheus shook his head and took a deep breath. He needs to approach this calmly, rationally and thoughtfully. He is not going to rush into things. He can't...
Who would kidnap his lover? Somebody dumb, obviously. if it's a human perpetrator then it's obvious that they can't know who he Morpheus, but if it's somebody from his world... May God help them if they are. May God help them.
" Matthew. "
" Yes sir? Where is- Oh no. " Matthew said once he saw the shattered glass. " Do you need me to survey the area to look for signs of him? "
" Yes. I will have to wait for him to fall asleep in order to find him. "
" I will let you know if I see something sir. "
Morpheus nodded and let some tears fall after Matthew left. He didn't feel this hopeless in so long. He could only hope that (Y/N) was alive and some what well.
(Y/N) was tired. It has been a couple of days since he was kidnapped by one of the rouge nightmares. That nightmare idolized Corinthian and hated Morpheus just as Corinthian did. He was telling (Y/N) how Morpheus won't be coming for him, that he doesn't care about him. He knew that what the nightmare was saying was bullshit. Complete and utter bullshit and he knew it, but his mind was saying to him just what if.
(Y/N) shifted a bit, whimpering from the pain that he was put through. Being put through a glass table is no joke. His body was screaming for him to sleep, but the nightmare was a sneaky little bitch and wouldn't let him. The amount of sleep he would get once Morpheus finds him... And Morpheus? What is he doing now? Does he even know he is missing? Sure, Morpheus was busy with Corinthian and (Y/N) understood the importance of finding Corinthian, but now he wondered. He closed his eyes and tried to sleep. He knew that was the only way that Morpheus would be able to find him.
(Y/N) gasped. He did it. He fell asleep. He was at a big beautiful meadow, the one that Morpheus created for them. It was calming and soothing.
" (Y/N)? " That deep, soothing voice from behind.
" Morpheus... " (Y/N) called out, tears brimming in his eyes and his knees giving out.
Morpheus rushed to his lover and embraced him tightly. (Y/N) sobbed into Morpheus's shoulder.
" Are you okay darling? Are you hurt? "
" Not really. "
" I am going to get you out of that hell you are in. Just a little longer. "
" Okay. "
Morpheus gave him a small smile and kissed his forehead. (Y/N) melted in Morpheus's arms, feeling content and happy to see Morpheus.
" Now, I don't want you to see what I am about to do to that nightmare, so I will use my sand to make sure you rest and don't see what I am about to do. Okay? "
" Okay. "
(Y/N) woke up, relaxing once he saw Morpheus kneeling in front of him, taking off (Y/N)'s restraints. He took his pouch and blowed some sand, making (Y/N) fall asleep, just as he promised. Now, it was time to punish the nightmare.
(Y/N) woke up in a familiar bed. It was Morpheus's and (Y/N) knew that he was safe now. Unfortunately, Morpheus wasn't with him. Maybe he was in the throne room an- (Y/N) looked at the door once he heard the door opening. He tensed up, but relaxed once he saw Morpheus walking in.
" How are you feeling love? "
" I feel a bit better. How long was I out? "
" About 3 days in the Waking world. A healer made sure you were okay and treated any injuries you had. I had to take care of some business so that I could spend a lot of time with you. "
Then Morpheus laid next to (Y/N) and brought him into his embrace. (Y/N) nuzzled his head into Morpheus's chest and sighed in happiness.
" I love you (Y/N). "
" I love you too Morpheus. Thank you for coming for me. "
" I will always come for you, whatever that nightmare said to you, they are wrong. I will always come to your aid. No matter where you are. "
(Y/N) hummed and gently touched Morpheus's face. Morpheus leaned down and kissed him gently, making sure to pour all the love he had.
" Would you like to sleep more? " Morpheus asked against (Y/N)'s lips.
" I would like to stay like this for as long as possible. "
" Wish granted. "
(Y/N) smiled and moved even closer. Morpheus was now at ease and allowed himself to relax. They were together now and that is all that matters.

I can't sleep
Tumblr media
Pairing: Morpheus x Male reader
Warnings: none, fluff.
Requested: Yes / No
A/N: Have fun reading!😚
---
It was dark in the dreaming, the stars were shining bright in the sky that you were watching while lying on Fiddler’s Green. Humming a soft tune. You couldn't sleep so you thought it was a nice Idea, and you didn't want to bother Morpheus with that.
It's actually not the first time you do that, but it's the first time you do it because you couldn't sleep. So you thought that it maybe could help you getting tired.
It didn't really help, but you still enjoyed it lying there right now, the thing you didn't know was, was that Morpheus was looking for you right now.
Morpheus walked into your shared bedroom but all he found was an empty bed that made him frown. ‘Where is he? It's way past midnight.’ he thought as he walked out of the room to continue searching for you.
The next place he looked for you was The Library where Lucienne was. Lucienne was putting the last few books away that came in a few hours ago, when she saw Morpheus walking in with a frown on his face. “Is something wrong, my lord?” she asked pushing her glasses up a little.
“Yes, do you know where Y/N is? He isn't in our bedroom.” this caused Lucienne to frown herself. “I'm sorry my lord, I have no idea. Perhaps he's outside, watching the stars you know how much he likes them.” She suggested. Morpheus nodded. “Thank you Lucienne” he said turning around to leave. “Anytime, my lord” and with that Morpheus made his way outside to look for you.
Morpheus already knew where to look, because he knew the spot where you were always watching the stars in the sky. “Hey, Boss!” Morpheus looked up and saw Matthew flying towards him. Matthew landed right beside him and walked with him. “Matthew, is there something you need?” he asked the raven.
“Uh, no not really. I'll be flying off to Lucienne. Bye Boss!” with that he flew away. Morpheus continued his way to your spot. And when he finally got a glimpse of you his face softened.
He slowly walked towards you, so when you heard someone walking towards you, you looked up and smiled as you saw Morpheus in front of you. “Hey, Morpheus” you say softly making him smile softly. “Hello, Love. Why are you still out?“ he asked.
“I can't sleep. And I didn't want to bother you with it, so I thought maybe it would help me get tired.” By the time you finished the sentence he knelt down and put his hand on your cheek making you lean into it. “You know you could never bother me, Love. I could have helped you,” he whispered softly. “Mmh... Ok. Can we go back now?” you ask softly. Morpheus nodded still smiling. “Of course, now come.” he put one arm under your legs and the other around your waist, and you put your arms around his neck.
He started to walk back with you in his arms. You look up at him, making him rise a brow while looking back at you. “Sorry didn't mean to stare, you're just handsome you know?” you said without thinking, making him chuckle. “And you're just too cute” he said back making you bury your face in his chest in embarrassment.
“Say, can we go to the park tomorrow? I want to feed the birds again.” your voice sounds muffled against his chest. Morpheus laughed softly. “Of course everything you want, my love.” his voice as soft as ever.
When you finally arrived at the bedroom he got inside and gently laid you on the bed he went to the other side of the bed to get in as well but before he did so he had put his clothes off, leaving him in his boxers. You did the same and put your clothes off except for your boxers of course.
He got in next to you and covered the both of you with the blanket. You both were facing each other when Morpheus put his hand on your cheek, making you lean into it. “I love you, Y/N.” he whispered to you making you smile sweetly at him. “I love you too, Morpheus.” you whispered back.
Then he gently kissed your lips and pulled his hand back and softly blew the sand in your face, and you immediately fell asleep. “Sleep well, my love.” he said. And of course, he made sure you had a beautiful dream.

Answers // Dream*
Dream of the Endless* x Witch!male!reader.
Summary: You called for your lord after a strange dream.
Part two.
Tumblr media
You crossed your legs, sitting on the floor with a nervous sigh and shaky hands.
You had dreamed of him, your lord, your king. You have been to The Dreaming, encounter the King of Nightmares on your worst night terrors.
But this was different, that wasn't him you know for sure, a double made by your mind.
Lord Morpheus doesn't make up the dreams, all that comes from the human mind as he claims.
Which only makes it worse, your mind wanted that, you wanted that. With your master of all people.
You light the incense, drew the symbols on your floor with chalk, eyes locked on the candle, that black candle that connects you to him. Your own prayer candle for Dream.
It was a gift from the Dream Lord himself. Only for you because there is no other witch who works with him.
Morpheus doesn't usually shows up on your home, no need to be nervous, it will be like any other day.
But that was before his imprisonment.
Lord Morpheus has changed, oh dear stars you know he has.
You light the candle and extended your hands to the air, your head down and eyes closed. You took a deep breath.
"Lord of Dreams." You began, your circle of candles slowly lighting one by one.
"Oneiros. My ruler and Master. I, The Moon's son, call to thee. I pray to thee and ask for your answers and your knowledge." You shouted to the wind.
The flame of the candle changed to black. The lights of the candles flickered, making the shadows dance.
"I call to thee. I pray to thee! Answer me, my sweet prince—" You needed answers, but not for the ones that were on your mind at the moment, this dream of yours must not be discussed with Morpheus.
"Answer the pleas of your dearest dreamer and loyal servant." You whispered, the wind opened your windows aggressively, the lights of your circle went instinct but the black flame of the prayer candle stayed strong.
You opened one eye, to peak, praying that he decided to stay on his realm.
No.
Shadows emerged together and a pair of black boots could be seen behind the candle, walking towards you.
"You called." Morpheus speaks, his soothing voice filled your ears, you closed your eyes and your arms come down to your lap.
"Look at me when I speak to you, dreamer." He demanded annoyed, you opened your eyes and meet his star filled gaze.
"Yes, my lord." You said low, you were nervous, never in your inmortal life have been so nervous to be in the presence of your lord.
Was he aware of your dream? He must be, you prayed he wasn't, not yet at least.
"My apologies, my king—"
Lord Morpheus looked different, every century or so he changes his appearance but this one is one of your favorites, probably because you haven't see him in a century.
His pale finger brushed your cheek.
"Eyebags." He remarked with a frown, you stared at him with your mouth slightly open.
"Y-yes, indeed they are—" You responded after blinking in disbelief.
"Have I not given you the sweetest of dreams since my return? Have I failed my dearest dreamer?" He asks so softly, there is an air of disappointment on his voice.
"No, not at all, Oneiros." You whispered softly before smiling reassuringly.
"Mm, very well then." The Dream Lord spoke offering his hand, you took it and stood up ending inches away from his pale face.
"Why have I been summoned?" He asked without letting go of your hand.
"I need— answers— It is about a dream of mine, sir." You revealed, The Lord of Dreams looked at you with a slight tilt of his head.
"Oh. I gifted you the power of dream interpretation. What have you seen that not even you can make sense of it?" Morpheus asked softly and you opened your mouth but closed it right after.
Don't tell him. Do not say a thing. He can't know when you're right infront of him.
"It is a bit— complicated, my lord." You confessed, he gives a slight nod and walked you towards the mountain of pillows and blankets that you use for adivination and drinking tea with him.
Just like in your dream.
You stopped on your tracks, Morpheus meets your gaze.
"Is there something wrong, my starlight?" He spoke. You stayed static.
His hand cupped your cheek, you melted against his palm, you sighed and closed your eyes.
You opened them immediately.
"My dreamer?" He called with worry, his hand goes to your shoulder.
"That was no dream—" You whispered.
It was a premunition.

Lost & Found
Chapter 3 - O-Oh, sleeping habits!
Word count: 2,172
Genre: Fluff/Angst/Drama/Slight horror
TW: none
Tumblr media
Y/N sighed deeply as he began to read the same line in an article for the fifth time. He dragged his right hand down his face, exhaustion filling his whole body as he slouched forward on the chair, placing his elbows on the table on the opposite sides of the laptop and putting his head in his hands, his middle and idex finger rubbing circles on his temples. He jumped slightly when he helt an uncertain placement of Dream's hand on his shoulder. Neither him or the Dream Lord expected Morpheus to do that, it was like an instinct for him to comfort the hunter while he was tired.
-You should rest, you have done enough for today - said Dream. The softness of his voice swimming around in the air and engulfing Y/N's body in a warm feeling.
The hunter turned his head to the side to look at the Endless, seeing a concerned look on his face. His eyes widen a little bit, but they go back to their previous half lidded self in a second. He shakes his head asa a form of disagreement.
-I can't. Not yet at least. I think I'm close to finding something that will tell us where Valgrat is currently - Y/N informed the Endless, which only made the other man sigh.
Morpheus put his hand on the back of the laptop and pushing down, closing it. That action ripped out an angry "Hey!" out of the hunter. Dream payed no mind to his protests as he lifted him off the chair, making him stand up in front of it with a grumpy face.
-Go lay down. You're no use being this tired, Y/N - Morpheus said, not realising how harsh his words sounded. A hurt look passed the hunter's face, but he quickly got rid of it, in the end nodding his head. He groggily went up to his bed and sat down on it. - Change into your sleeping garments, just so you will feel more comfortable while resting - he added.
The hunter only looked at him briefly, but did as Morpheus suggested. He searched his clothing bag for something comfier and took out a shirt and some shorts. Seemingly forgeting about the other man being in the room, he started to take off the clothes he had on himself to put on the new ones. His actions put a blush onto Morpheus's face, making him avert his gaze from Y/N's naked back. He scolded himself in his mind for still feeling affected by the man and for acting like a school boy. He shook his head and went up to the window again, beckoning in the raven that stood on one of the tree branches. Matthew got inside swiftly, jumping on his little raven feet to get into the warm room which contrasted with the cold wind that picked up during the evening in the town.
-Phew! It for sure is cold as fuck in this town! Thank you for letting me in, Boss! - Matthew exclaimed as he settled on the table near the window, but quickly screeched and flew over to stand on one of the night stands when a gust of wind ruffled his feathers a bit too harshly.
He shook a bit, trying to make the cold leave his little bird body. He notices his still flustered boss and the hunter that was now changing his pants into the shorts. Matthew quickly understood what was happening and let out a little bird like chuckle, making Morpheus send a mean glare his way. He stopped rapidly, but tried not to let him show the shiver that shook his body.
Y/N threw his pants onto the bag alongside his shirt after he was done putting on his sleeping clothes. He turned his head to face Morpheus and, as his feathered friend, noticed that the Endless was looking at him with an absent glare and a slight blush on his cheeks. His own face reddened at the thought that Dream might be checking him out, but got rid of it as quickly as it appeared by shaking his head and proceeding to lay down under the rough hotel blanket. The hunter tried to get comfy, but a familiar homesick feeling flowed through him which made him unable to truly try and get some much needed rest. Morpheus seeing his companion's struggle walked over to him with the intention of help. Y/N looked at the man that got close to him and sat on top of the blanket, next to the hunter's legs underneath it. The tired man saw Morpheus reach into his coat and take out his pouch of sand. He immediately started refusing, saying that he doesn't need it and that he'll be fine, but stopped talking when he saw the Endless look at him sternly but with a tinge of concern in his shiny blue eyes that seemed to hold the whole universe inside them.
-Let me help you, Y/N... You know that you don't have to deal with this on your own... - Morpheus says softly, taking some of the sand into his grasp, waiting for Y/N's consent.
The H/C haired man whispered out a small "Yes" and laid back down, to be more comfortable than before, nodding a little at the man sitting next to him, telling him without words that he can blow a bit of sand into his eyes to help him sleep. Which Morpheus does as he spreads his hand out, a small amount of sand atop his palm as he gently blows on it to spread it into Y/N's eyes. The hunter blinked a couple of times and slowly drifted off to calm sleep, filled with beautiful dreams. It was the least that the Dream Lord could do for him.
As Y/N slumbered, soft and adorable little snores leaving him, making Morpheus smile gently. His hand wandered to the hunter's hair, pushing away some stray hairs that fell onto his face. He couldn't help himself anymore from feeling this way for the man, no matter how hard he tried to push his affections for him far and deep into his own being. His feelings resurfaced after so long, after... After what happened between them. He doesn't do it often, but he admits to himself that he acted a bit too quick, not wanting to hear the H/C haired man out. He was so mad... He felt so hurt, so... Betrayed, that his mouth worked quicker than his brain that wanted to stop him from letting out such cruel words directed at the hunter. It was only a few decades after their argument when he finally understood why Y/N did what he did. Why he HAD TO do it. And his brilliant sister made him see that. She was always his voice of reason. But he knew that even if he tried to fix what they had, he couldn't. What got said and done was irreversible, at least in his eyes. He knew that they wouldn't go back to how the things were previously, it simply wasn't possible, not with his pride in the way. The pride that also made him retreat his hand that now rested on Y/N's cheek, stroking it gently with his thumb. He pressumably also forgot about Matthew that was still observing the whole ordeal before him.
-Why don't you just talk it out with him already, Boss? - he asked tilting his head to the side in a curious manner. He got a indescribable look from Morpheus which only told him to mind his own business.
-I can't. Why would he even hear me out when I didn't do the same for him? He has no reason to do so - he said exasperated, clearly feeling guilty.
He regretted his words every day since talking to Death about all of it. Oh how he wished he could take all of them back and never let them out. How he wished he would just let Y/N explain himself instead of shunning him away from his glass prison. He would've done things differently if he had the chance, maybe they could talk like adults instead of Morpheus throwing a temper tantrum like a litte child that couldn't get what he wanted so he started acting out. But hi hoping was of no use. There was nothing that could be done to make the situation better. Well... There was, but that would involve talking with Y/N about all of this and showing his vulnerable side, which he promised to never do again after so many relationships that ended badly.
-You don't know that, Boss! I bet he would love to finally have all of this behind him, as I bet would you too! Just... Talk to him, when he wakes up. Please... The faster you talk it all out, the better, because honestly... I can't stand all that awkwardness and tension between you two - Matthew said and decided to take place on Moprheus's pillow on his bed, getting comfortable and letting out a content sigh.
Morpheus looked at his raven, contemplating all that he said and came to conclusion that, yes, having a conversation with Y/N, explaining all of that happened and having it behind them after so long is a good idea. So he stood up from his seat on the hunter's bed and walked around to sit on his own, taking off his shoes and hanging his coat on the bed frame. Then he got his full body onto the bed, deciding to rest his back against the headboard, being mindful of Matthew as he attempted to get into his position. When he finally did, he sighed and conjured up one of the books from the library, notifying Lucienne about it so she wouldn't worry about a missing book. He wanted to read something to pass the time before the hunter awakens and what could be better to do so if not a good book? So he started reading, the book in his hands on his lap as he verted the pages slowly. Suddenly he felt movement coming from his left side and he quickl figured out that it was Y/N moving in his sleep.
He payed him no mind, still reading his book until he felt arms wrap around his waist underneath his own arms that layed on his lap, one leg layin on top of thigh and between his own and a head sneaking under his left arm to place itself on the Endless's chest. Dream's eyes widened comically and if Matthew could, he would take a picture. Morpheus couldn't believe that Y/N still had an instict during his sleep to cuddle into him, as if he was afraid that he would disappear and leave him to his own fate. Yet he couldn't help the feeling of warmth that has spread through him at the hunter's action, a soft smile appearing on his face. He delicately ad slowly lowered himself on the bed, so his head hit the pillow, Y/N's head now laying just slightly off of Morpheus's neck, his arms previously around his waist now found themselves wrapped tightly around the Endless's chest and lastly his leg that was on Dream's thigh was now laying softly on his stomach and gently on his crotch, which made his breath catch in his throat, but he shrugged it off and payed it no mind.
He wrapped his left arm around the man and tigthened his hold on him, pulling him impossibly closer to his own body. He relaxed further on and began to read his book once again, holding it in his left hand and turnig the pages with his right one. Then he heard a small soft exhale coming from Y/N and shortly after a nickname that only the hunter used for him. His own term of endearment for the Endless. This warmed his heart even more when even Y/N's unconcious self recognised the safety of Morpheus's arms as he held him while he slept.
-I'm here, my little hunter. Don't worry about anything, because I'm here and even if I said that after all of this I will be out of your life, I feel like doing so would be the worst mistake of my very long life. Even worse than turning away from you all those years ago... I promise that I will do better, for you, my love... You're safe with me. I won't let anyone hurt you ever again... - he whispered into the hunter's hair and placing a sweet, loving kiss on his head shortly after. He intended to keep his promise to Y/N. No one will dare to lay even a finger on his darling boy, they won't even dare to think about hurting him. And with that thought in mind swirling in his head, he continued reading his book, his hold on the hunter never wavering.

I walk beside you - Chapter 2
Tumblr media
Summary: “I have not heard these words in ages,” a deep, male voice says, and before you can answer, you wake up.Your dreams start changing once you realize that you’re not alone as you think. Who is this man and why does he know you? How do you know him?
Pairing: Dream / Morpheus x reader
Chapter 1
AO3: May everyone who leaves a kudo have a wonderful dream.
Chapter 2:
Morpheus leads you to a more secluded area, his hand still secure around your wrist, feeling life drum underneath your veins.
They are approaching a small park, and he notices you drag your feet as your eye the trees with suspicion.
“There will be no storm.” You visibly deflate after his reassurance, still clutching the bag you’re still holding as you let out a small sigh. They stop in front of an empty bench, and he releases you.
“I have questions,” you declare, your eyes gleaming with curiosity and determination, and Morpheus feels his lips quirk. He knows from experience that confronting you in the waking world brings better results than confronting you in your dreams. Yet he’s relieved by your inquisitive attitude, and simply stands still as you walk around him. Curious, determined, and brave; he has always liked these qualities in you.
“I will answer.” He waits until you’re standing in front of him, your eyes narrowed as you seem to study him. He does the same, taking in the features he’s known for ages. You always resemble yourself, although some details may change, yet he drinks you in like a wanderer in the desert would drink in an oasis. It has been too long.
“Who are you? What are you?” You’ve added the second question a heartbeat later, and Morpheus tilts his head in an appraising manner. You usually deduce rather quickly that he’s not human, while some of your incarnations had chosen to ignore the truth, to stay in denial. He’s relieved that you chose not to.
“I am Lord Morpheus, King of dreams and ruler of the nightmare realm,” he states, and watches as your eyes widen as you take a step back.
“Nice to meet you, your Highness,” you reply, your voice a mix between polite and amused, and he shakes his head as he watches you curtsy, your knees wobbling. Adorable. You’ve always been able to amuse him and brighten his day, and this is no exception. He inclines his head with a smile, acknowledging your curtsy.
“I suppose you have more questions,” he suggests, and you bite your lip as you seem deeply in thought. He doesn’t push further, giving you the time you require.
“I have a feeling you know me,” you say, and he nods. He could fill hours by replying to this simple statement. “I am sorry, but I don’t know you.” There is genuine sympathy in your apology, and something in his stomach flutters.
“You never do. No incarnation of you has ever remembered me.” Every time he finds you, you have no memories of their time together. He still hasn’t made up his mind whether this is a blessing or a curse. If you and he had been close, it leaves him torn asunder to see you again but oblivious to their bond, showing no reaction to a shared joke or memory. If it had ended on bad terms, it is a relief to know that each meeting is a clean slate.
You have rejected him, and one rejection has stung, a small part of the poison still throbbing.
                                           649 BC.
“Look what my future spouse has sent me,” you cheer, pointing at the several chests filled with jewelry, cloth, and spices. “In the mansion we will live in awaits so much more. I shall want for nothing.”
“Impressive.” Morpheus has always known you to be ambitious, even little vain, but it still surprises him how quickly these material gifts have won you over. You’re spinning in front of him, wearing only the finest silk.
“Blessed be the gods for allowing this union.” Morpheus tries not to roll his eyes at your statement and to keep his face impassive. Humanity keeps on inventing new deities to worship and thank for, not realizing that they themselves decide their fate.
“How lucky I am to have captured the attention of a god,” you say in a reverent tone. Greek mythology has identified him as Morpheus, God of dreams, and while this only one of many monikers humanity has given him, he has grown fond of it.
“How lucky I am to have captured your attention,” he repeats, and notices the flush on your cheeks. After he had revealed himself, you had been coy, making advances and rejections in equal measure. It had been an almost maddening play.
“But mortals are not meant to capture the hearts of immortals. Those who do always share one miserable fate.” He had seen it coming, had noticed your attention for him waning. Your dreams have been filled by your new spouse and the riches you soon shall possess. While he should be above it, it is still irritating and demeaning to be replaced so easily.
“I shall take my leave then,” he announces, giving you a moment to object, to change your mind. You don’t.
You hold a piece of his soul, and he has never found the strength to truly punish you. Yet he feels no regret as he removes his boon from you, never entering your life or your dreams again.
“How often do we meet?” you ask, sitting on the bench and eating your snack, your eyes glued to him.
“Sometimes it only takes decades before you come back, sometimes centuries or even more. It is a mystery, even to me.” He and Lucienne have tried to find any indication for your reincarnation, if there are any factors. So far, they have found no answer. You have been born poor or rich, with a big or a small family, you have lived a short or long life, you’ve been content or wanting for more. You’ve been born into peace or war. While some personal traits seem to be common, each incarnation is truly unique.
“Do you stay?” you continue asking, pressing your lips together as you realize how ambiguous this question is. He raises an eyebrow and watches as you evade his gaze, playing with your hair.
“If you want me to,” he vows softly. He would never force himself on you. He treasures every moment with you, knowing that his time with you can end at any moment. Sometimes you’ve spent decades together, sometimes only months. It always ends with the same fierce agony.
                                   1404 AC.
Destruction can be found everywhere, and Morpheus knows that his sibling maintains a keen eye on the many battles erupting around the world. Many people dream of peace, seeking refuge in their dreams as their waking life is so often plagued by war, famine, or cut short in an instant.
He locates you in a destroyed building, where you’re hoping against the odds that the marauding, blood-thirsty soldiers will leave, and that you, your family, and friends will live another day.
Your wish would not be granted.
He finds you on the verge of consciousness, your body fighting for survival while you become weaker by the second.
With a gentle touch, he brings you to his realm. You beam at him, standing in a village that has not been ruined, surrounded by people who are dead in the waking world, your expression hale and hearty instead of grim and gaunt.
“Dream!” you say with a soft smile, “thanks for bringing me here. I have missed this.” You spin around, basking in this fantasy of a safe, content world. Morpheus lets sorrow cloud his gaze for a second. Despite the harsh reality you’re living in, you have never lost hope, never let loss and pain twist you into someone bitter. Your warm optimism is what has intrigued him the most.
“I have missed you.” After your quiet admission the villagers disappear, leaving them alone in the middle of the square.
You step forward until you reach him, and Morpheus takes your hand, pulling it towards his mouth so he can press a featherlight kiss on it. You let out a small giggle, and how he wishes that he could share your joy.
In the waking world, his sister puts a comforting hand on his shoulder as he kneels in front of your pale form, your chest barely moving. Losing you is always the same excruciating pain that seems to hollow out his immortal heart.
“I will miss you, my love.” The dream disappears as you wake up to take your last breath. You cough, blood smearing over your lips as you look past him, looking at his sister. They only have seconds left. He is never ready for the last moment.
“I am sorry for leaving so soon,” you whisper, reaching out to squeeze his hand, your touch so weak he barely feels it.
Morpheus closes his eyes, allowing his sister to take you to the Sunless Lands. He hears the rustle of the feathers and knows that you’re gone.
A tear runs down his cheek, falling on you, your lifeless eyes staring up at him.
“That’s good to know,” you say a little breathlessly, rocking up and down on the balls of your feet. “How do you find me?” The most important question, the one you always ask.
“You always share the same dream.”
“The path before me doesn’t frighten me, I want to forever walk beside you,” you interrupt him, saying the sentence that seems to be edged into your very soul, and he nods.
He remembers the first time he had found you.
A long time ago, before humanity measured time.
The barriers in his realm have not yet been fixed, and humans, in their youthful curiosity, like to explore and have often wandered into each other’s dreams. It has not yet been a reason for concern, so he let his dreams and nightmares only intervene if strictly necessary.
“I can’t believe my eyes,” an unknown voice says, and Morpheus turns around to see a mortal stand in the center of his palace.
“What are you doing here?” he wonders. Instead of worry, he feels mild intrigue as he observes the mortal, detecting no evil intentions. Wandering into the middle of his realm is no small feat.
“I was exploring and kind of ended up here?” you explain, your mouth agape as you take in your surroundings. He cannot blame you for your curiosity and he will not punish you, but you do not belong here.
“I wish you nice dreams.” With a flick of his fingers, he sends to the confines of your own dream.
Instead of a quiet dismissal, you must have understood it as an invitation, for he finds you again in the palace the next night, conversing with his raven.
“Wonders upon wonders,” you marvel as you notice him approaching, your smile radiant. “Your companion tells me that you rule over these lands.” You sink down to one knee in respect before gracefully rising.
“My companion talks too much.” He gives his raven a sharp glare, and watches as it flies away, leaving him alone with the intruder.
“Let me be clear. This place is not for mortals.” He lets a little darkness fill his gaze, expecting fear to flitter over your features. Instead, he recognizes astonishment and a little awe.
“Until next time,” you reply, your lips drawn to a smirk as you refuse to back down. Foolish, brave mortal.
It has become a game of sorts, with you sneaking into his palace and him finding you. Conversation has started to flow, and every time he has become more intrigued by you.
“My Lord, it is almost too easy to sneak into your palace,” you taunt, sticking your tongue at him. No mortal has ever dared such behavior. It’s refreshing and shows how familiar you have become with him.
“I shall raise the stakes then,” he promises. Each dream offers a new challenge, and you face it with the same vigor and determination. Each dream brings you closer, with you becoming a lodestar in the endless firmament of his existence.
The Dreaming is no longer enough, and he has sought you in the waking world. Appearing in the flesh in front of you and hearing you scream before throwing yourself into his arms is a memory he shall never forget.
“The path before me doesn’t frighten me, I want to forever walk beside you.” You and he are lying in a meadow, your fingers gliding through his hair, making him almost purr like a cat. Your declaration, full of longing and love, resonates deep within him, and he brushes his thumb over your cheek.
“Stay with me.”
He notices that his attention is demanded elsewhere, but he is loath to go. During his imprisonment, he had been tortured by the prospect that he missed an incarnation, and even now he wonders if there is one version of you he shall never meet.
“I must leave,” he says, and watches as your face falls.
“We will see each other again?” you say, half suggestion and half hope, and his heart warms. He reaches out to tug a wayward strand of your hair behind your ear, hearing you inhale sharply.
“Meet me in my palace,” he dares, placing the bait in front of you, and watches as you clench your jaw in determination.
“Challenge accepted, my Lord.”

Hidden Away Together
Tumblr media
Pairing: Morpheus x Male!Reader
Warnings: Smut (I was asked to write more Male!Reader Smut for The Sandman, so here y’all go!)
Summary: Lucienne hires a helper Librarian to assist with her duties now that she’s taking on more official duties. Morpheus gets very close to that new librarian, with a strong bond developing. Which leads to feelings and more.
Requested by: ‘DarkLaiconkBlack’ on Wattpad
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
(Y/N) wasn't expecting to become close to his King when he got a job at the palace library. Lucienne had been busy helping out with more official duties around the Dreaming, so she needed an assistant around the library.
The hiring process was intense. Lucienne only wanted the best dream to help her out, finally hiring (Y/N). A hard worker and a fairly likeable person. He was quickly accepted into the palace staff.
Recently, however, Lucienne had noticed that someone else had accepted (Y/N)'s recent presence as well. The King was spending more time in the library. At first making up excuses about why he was in there, but eventually just turning up randomly.
His eyes stayed on (Y/N), listening to whatever the new librarian had to say. He'd leave to go work but return once he was done. Lucienne couldn't help but chuckle once she realized what was going on.
***
"Didn't see you the last few days." (Y/N) commented to Morpheus, putting books back on their proper shelves. "Something going on?"
"Just some business with my siblings. Why?"
He shrugged, pretending it wasn't important for him to see Morpheus. "I just like it when you're here. Is that a crime?"
"No." Morpheus smiled, standing up and walking over to him. "Of course not." He pulled the books from the librarian's hands and set them on the table. It was then that he kissed his secret lover, pressing (Y/N) gently against the bookshelf.
"Someone's going to see us." He whispered, but still kissing back. They hadn't been doing this long, but Morpheus hands ghosting over his waist was one of the most thrilling feeling he had ever experienced
Morpheus smiled against (Y/N)'s lips. "Lucienne is out doing a census, everyone else is busy. We are completely alone." His reply calmed (Y/N), who let himself get swept up in the Dream Lord's kissing.
"Oh, okay." His murmur was faint, his hands were snaking up to bury themselves in Morpheus's dark spiky hair. The breath was stolen from him as Morpheus sank to his knees, tugging at (Y/N)'s clothing.
(Y/N) gripped one of the shelves to steady himself as Morpheus went down on him. His mind turned fuzzy, trying not to be too loud.
The grip on Morpheus's hair was tightened, and the Dream Lord gasped in pleasure against his lover. Morpheus hands held to (Y/N)'s waist, keeping him still.
As (Y/N) came, Morpheus reached up to slip his fingers into his lover’s mouth. Keeping him from attracting anyone’s attention with his moans. The Dream Lord got up, pulling him into another deep kiss.
Morpheus pushed (Y/N) to the table, finally removing his own clothes. Books were thrown from the table as Morpheus started to enter him. Started to rock inside of him.
The King of the Dreaming kissed over (Y/N) neck, nipping at it. So grateful that Lucienne had hired him and that Morpheus could have this after years of loneliness. He held (Y/N) close as they came, breathing heavily.
“Lucienne is going to fire me for this mess.” (Y/N) chuckled tiredly, trying to put himself together.
But Morpheus just waved his hand, the room immediately going back to how it was. “She won’t, everyone here loves you.” He pulled his clothes back on, gazing at his lover.
“Even you?” The smirk on (Y/N)‘s face brought one to Morpheus as well. He couldn’t believe that (Y/N) would even need to ask that, not know that Morpheus couldn’t stay away from him.
“Yes. Even me.”
