I saw your tags in the Solomon post about his pact with Asmodeus tbh I agree with you maybe because I played the old game and know how cruel demons were shown at the start before they started overhauling the dialogue.

It wasn't until the brothers realized MC is related to Lilith so they started becoming nicer too. I just think it's unfair to put these characters in a box and expect them to act consistently that's called caricature not characterization but hey it's just my opinion.

Hi there! Solomon seems to be even more of a polarising character than Belphie was even if the latter committed an actual murder while the former hadn't done anything as severe (for now...jk lol).

Joking aside, it's completely valid to like and dislike a character. And I can totally see your point. I guess your opinion on Solomon changes depending on how long you had known him or how far you are in the story. Sometimes it doesn't even have a reason at all and that's valid too. It always amazes me how we interpet scenes so differently. Like for example, the current lesson (lesson 17).

In my eyes, the vulnerability he had shown in the bar/tavern was NOT intended. He had even insisted numerous times that we should forget everything that he said. That it was shameful he had even reacted that way. That he was being emotional. He was not in his right mind and it's shameful and disgusting and he should have never acted like that. This is the same man who said that he couldn't stand the thought of being hated by MC, so I think he must have reacted so strongly because this is a rare chance we see him at his weakest point: his true self. Being out in the open to someone who he wants to be loved by so badly TERRIFIES HIM. A lot of unexplored self-loathing in this man that's for sure. He even said you can call him insane because emotions had never been a factor in his decision making process. He's usually very emotionally intelligent and composed but your involvement. Your existence is beginning to shake his values. Because in the end, that air of confidence. Superiority. Magical prowess are years of building up defences against others from SEEING THE REAL HIM. I really like how the person I RB'd the blog from worded it. He's trying, but he's not perfect. He's human. He's hurt but in the cruel world he lived in all his life, he only had himself to rely on.

And there's something tragically poetic about that. Could his desire to make a pact with Lucifer be because he sees Lucifer as a "what-if" version of himself that had fallen from grace WITH people who loved him and believed in him? That if he gains Lucifer's trust, he would also be healing a part of himself who never had the chance nor the privilege to connect with others? If you recall in one of his SSR cards (the Comiket one forgot the name), the Lord of Corruption is his favourite character (possibly because he relates to the Lord of Corruption the most?), and it's been shown in the game a few times how he and Lucifer are comparable to each other (the Cyber event, TSL quiz battle, etc).

He seems to really be clinging into his humanity despite being isolated and even scorned by humanity itself at some point. Is it a saviour complex? Survivor's guilt? Either way, Solomon had been through a lot and he didn't seem to have a reliable guardian to rely on which is why he was acting like that. A stark contrast to how he and Diavolo were treated by Barbatos when his role in their lives had obvious parallels.

That's what's bothering me too. If Barbatos made Solomon "the way he is", then why is he so hostile towards him compared to the guilt and subservience he exhibits with Diavolo? Is it because like Asmodeus, he was also tricked into a pact(highly doubt this tbh unless that's actually the reason for Barbatos' deep disdain towards him? Because he had once treated Solomon with trust and compassion until it had been broken at some point)? Or could it be something deeper than that? A blight to the Fountain of Knowledge? Some forbidden boundaries that Solomon had crossed?

In my case, I have a considerable amount of background knowledge on him based on his "real life counterpart" before Solmare retconned it :'), and it has guided me surprisingly well (almost too well) in understanding him. King Solomon in the Bible had many enemies. But he is also kind and wise and benevolent and fickle and lustful and scheming. Loved by his people. Even given a blessed name by God. He had 700 wives and 300 concubines. He was a player, a fool in love, but for some reason, despite it all only had one named heir and had only one official wife, and when his actual heir had even taken over the throne, the United Kingdom of Israel was close to collapsing...which is weird because he's supposed to be wise and discerning. He could have totally predicted that from happening by defying God's word but kept on building pagan temples and marrying foreign wives anyway (despite how seemingly loyal he is to Naamah??). It's almost as if he wanted it to fall.

Sorry if I rambled too much lol. For me personally I don't really care if you like him or not. I think it's good they're trying to flesh him out although I have very very mixed feelings about them abandoning what they already worked on for his character in the OG. I do want Solmare to at least give us an option to side with him by our own terms. Not as blindly as the limited options they sometimes offer. (Ex. Okay, I'm on your side but can we please deal with this with more heart and consideration? AND HUMAN DECENCY? Not everyone is out there to get you and not all demonic transactions have to be heartless and calculating. Do you want a hug? :( )

EDIT: Idk why people are still liking this but tl;dr - Solomon was morally grey in the original source/Biblical King Solomon already so him being morally grey here should be no surprise. The entire cast is morally grey (except Luke probably). They're demons. You can hate on a character, but you should not bring it to an extent where you're already hurting a real live person for differing opinions.

Diavolo is very cheerful, the kind of person people would call golden retriever boys yknow? So to say when you were around, his hypothetical tail would be wagging quite a lot!

He enjoys your company immensely, finding himself forgetful and instead joking around, you being in his general area can even make mundane events he's done over 3000 times a delight from your simple addition.

Diavolo has mentioned off hand about being jealous of the relationship between the brothers, they all have these nicknames that seems so cute and perfect but he's been urged to try and stay formal, within the ranks his father had set up.

Though you know just as well as Lucifer and Barbatos, that even the Devildom prince isn't immune to taking breaks from an enterity of work.

He lets loose with you most of all, no matter how he shouldn't go soft on one of the exchange students, it's your little secret( however it is extremely visible to the brothers on how bold he is with his liking for you).

His nicknames for you are always more sweet than the concept of just shortening your name like what is done between the brothers, though if he can figure it out some will be puns based off of your name!

He will call you his knight sometimes, not very often because it reminds him of the weight of his title but then he spins it to princes of the human world who had personal knights like bodyguards that fall in love together in secret because the prince has an arranged marriage for the good of his kingdom but they also love someone else and-

He also quite likes calling you buttercup, it's cute and the way he always accidentally pops the p on the end makes him laugh at himself, he likes using it on particularly hard days where you feel down or are surrounded by that bad feeling.

Diavolo will also take a liking to calling you an angel, this is one you will get in front of the brothers, Solomon, and the angels themselves since they have called you one as well so they would see it more as just agreement and blatant flirting right in front of their hellish salad.

If any are possibly food related, he makes sure it's in the safety of privacy away from Beel, but he likes saying that you're sweet, lovingly calling you a peach after you agree with him to go on an unconventional at best date, the apple of his eye.

He also loves when you give him nicknames, sweet or silly it doesn't matter you could send him a good night text with one of your choice and he would smile at it for far too long maybe even having to kick his feet just a small bit or do a roll or two to let out the energy you just granted him.

In the same vain of being his knight, my liege or highness isn't at the top of his tierlist yet he can't help but enjoy the my you put in front of any royal title. Will absolutely let out a large laugh if you call him your princess, will also ask you to do it in front of Lucifer.

Maybe will even go further into the joke of being a princess, he will ask you if he's a pretty one, he enjoys it genuinely far too much than he think he can express before blushing, call him pretty more often and don't be afraid of calling him a princess either.

Softly, he likes being called honey. It leads to another path of you thinking he's sweet but honey supposedly has different tastes depending on the floral nearby and he "tastes" that way because of you! So in turn your his hard at work worker bee, or any flower that's pretty and reminds him of you!

And as simple as it sounds, he really likes just being called Dia. It's something so simple, making him feel down to earth instead of on this pedestal he's remained on waiting for his father to wake back up.

You could also call him a diamond and he would enjoy the concept of being related to something he knows is so valuable in human history to you.

Hellooooo <3 And thank you for sending that 😂 I can never look at Lucifer the same ever again. As for the question, I've actually started just this April of this year! April 1 to be exact and only because I gave in to my sister and @rambles-on-obey-me's persuasive ways — the said persuasive ways is the promise of lore and getting to see more of Asmo. 😔✨

So yeah, I'm still on Level 30. My cards are still baby cards and I only have like two UR+ — the Asmo card you get when you start the game (Snowy Bliss) and the Luke card where he's a cutie giving us a big smile (An Angel's Smile). The rest are SSR and lower. I checked and it's exactly 81 cards. Sksksks Yes, I'm a newbie but I'm already writing headcanons. 💀 I just got to Lesson 15 in normal levels, so I'm still waiting for Belphie to heimlich MC to unalive mode. (◕દ◕) But I'm pretty caught up on story lore though cause I'm impatient and love spoilers. (◕દ◕)

First impressions will get me rambling for AGES so I'll try to shorten them to one sentence or less. And make it SFW. ಠ◡ಠ

Lucifer: Bastard man who is actually just a brat who needs to be spanked but like the Asian parent way.

Diavolo’s Birthday Bash!

for those of you who don’t keep up with the OM! podcast, Diavolo’s birthday event is coming up very soon and they’re, uh, switching things up a little. Diavolo’s not going to be the only one getting cards this time around! I’m not sure if the point thresholds will be the same, so whether you were waiting on it for Diavolo cards or planning to skip it because you’re not a fan, keep an eye out. I’ll put the characters confirmed under a read-more for those who want it to stay a surprise, and also a minor allusion to season 3 (no events are spoiled, just some of the bonding between the characters).

all of the cards should still be birthday bash-centered, fortunately, the selling point seems to be that the Devilgrams will showcase how everyone celebrates the lord’s birthday! Diavolo will be getting a UR+, which I believe is new for the birthday events (though I haven’t been around for all of them to know for sure), and the missions were mentioned so I assume that the birthday SSR theme will be staying in place. since those moving picture cards are generally released in pairs, there will also be a Leviathan UR+! ....again. Belphegor is getting a UR, instead. as for memory cards, there will be an opportunity for a UR Satan, Simeon, and Solomon card and an SSR of Mammon and Luke!

I’m wondering if this event will be sticking with the general lack of references to the main storyline or if they’ve decided to capitalize on the new relationships of season 3 after Mammon’s event gave a teaser, since we have Diavolo’s favorite shut-ins getting new URs and Mammon and the Chihuahua get a memory card. the triple S card doesn’t give me any ideas, but really, I rarely understand the memory groupings. either way, it looks like it’s shaping up to be a fun event!

1. 面倒い (mendoi) comes from めんどくさい (mendokusai), which means “a bother to do” and tends to mean like “what a pain” in context. (You probably recognize it as what Belphie says before starting a battle.) It felt a little weird to make Levi use that sort of language when talking about Diavolo, but 面倒い is very clearly slang, so 2. Belphie means this in an “I’m irritated” way, but it can also mean “to feel nauseous” and I’m not gonna pass up this opportunity. 3. The words here are literally “classic words/expression” which I mean yeah I guess that means catchphrase I’ll give. 4. Fuck the kanji 驚 5. It’s not uncommon for の (no) to become ん (n) in casual speech, but I was only aware of the のです/んです (nodesu/ndesu) variation before now! Apparently it can also be used elsewhere, but most commonly when connected to words like “place” or “house”. 6. The word they translate as “that” in the localization is アレ (are), which is used when the speaker assumes they and the listener(s) are on the same page. So it has a “you know what I mean” implication, which I leaned into for my translation. What the heck happens in this story anyway, the comments give literally no clues.

I just realized.... when it comes to self shipping, this past little while I have been SPOILED. Seriously;

After an intensive week of playing, I’m finally ready to review Obey me! from Shall we date. Okay, first of, a bit about the game:

Synopsis:

In an attempt to fix the relationship between the three realms, the young lord of Devildom starts an exchange program that will bring the Demons, Angels and humans together. A handful of individuals from each realm will spend a year experiencing each other worlds. Congratulation, you’ve just been chosen to be part of this program and you’ll spend a year in Devildom attending the demon school RAD! Do you have a choice? Apparently not! Also, Diavolo has decided to put you in the House of Lamentation where six demon brothers live. Get ready for fun, fun, FUN (at your expense) as you try to convince each demon brother to form a pact with you.

Joke aside, this is pretty much the premises of the game. Don’t be fooled by the false advertisement, this isn’t some sleazy, kinky otome game (although…during some parts…), the game is actually really fun and addictive. Romance is pushed in the background and although there are hints that some of the brothers have developed feelings for you, it’s not the main point of the story. It’s quite a breath of fresh air.

Gameplay:

I’ve played many otome games over the years and my main beef with all of them is the infuriating pace in which you have to go through the story. One of the main things that I loved about Mystic Messenger was how different it was from anything that I had played until that point. Same for Obey me!, the game doesn’t have tickets that you use to read chapters, instead it has battles between chapters for which you need at least one star to pass in order to advance. I’ll get to the battles later, but for now, let’s take a look at the main menu:

Okay, let’s take each of the icons and talk about them for a bit. The mail one is pretty self explanatory, it’s where you get notifications and news about the game. Akuzon is your shop/market, where you buy devil points and other items. Jobs is the menu where you put your devils to work. There are several places you can unlock and I highly recommend that you don’t forget to do the jobs. Not only do they bring you cash but also they raise your intimacy level with the demon you chose to work and sometimes you also get items.

Devilgram is where you find certain pics of the demons and stories behind the pics that you can unlock using keys. The To do is pretty much just that, a to do list of tasks that you must finish in order to get rewards. You have a daily list that gets you devil points and other rewards so make sure you try to do as many tasks from your daily list as possible. The next three icons show the current pop quiz games or nightmares and how much time you have left until they end.

Now, here come the most important menus. The Contacts menu is where you find your cards that you got in Nightmare:

In order to advance through the game you need to win the dance challenges. You can use three Demon cards and three Memory cards at the same time. The cards have rankings, from the strongest to weakest we have: UR, SSR, SR, R and N. What’s the difference? Well the stronger the card the more you can level it up, unlock the devil tree and get more attributes. There are seven in total: Pride, Greed, Envy, Wrath, Lust, Gluttony and Sloth. Once you level up a card you get an increase in each attribute. When you enter a dance challenge you’ll see your points as well as your opponents points. You might notice that you don’t have the same points in every challenge and that’s because it depends on the attribute that each challenge requires. For example, I don’t have a sloth card so when I have a challenge where that is required, my total point will be lower than normal. It’s impossible for you to have all the attributes at the same time and I don’t think it’s worth to invest in several cards at the same time. With what I have, I’ve managed to move through all the chapters in less than a week and I don’t have any UR cards, so if you level up your cards and unlock all points of your Devil tree, you’ll be fine.

How do you level up a card? Well, like everything in life, you can either work hard or pay for it. You get xp for each card when you win the game and it’s 320 for 3 stars and 200 for 2 or 1. You can unlock the sloths in the Devil tree of each card by using diamonds, or items that you get when you win the dance challenges.

Now, you might notice that there are card pieces, those cards can only be used once you gather ALL the pieces which is something really hard, almost close to impossible for the UR cards. Like I have so many UR cards that I need to gather the pieces for and they pretty much lie there...forgotten, waiting for a time when I’ll decide to invest more money in the game.

Now the next menu is the task menu:

As you can see, the little books are the stories you can read and the notes are your dance challenges. At the end of each lesson you have to fight the final boss in order to advance to the next lesson. You have your HARD tasks and your NORMAL tasks. Take my advice, once you reach lesson 5 or so go back and do the normal challenges as well. That way you can increase the level of your cards which will help later on in the hard challenges.

You see those little pluses on the right corner of each card? There you can add glowing sticks that raise your total strength. Each card has a certain color depending on it’s attribute and you also have the rainbow sticks that increase your strength even more. They’re also more expensive, they cots 6 devil points while a regular one costs just 3. Is it worth using them? I mean if you’re really in a hurry and want to advance, but I suggest you leave them at least for the final boss battles. You don’t need them if you’re smart and level up your cards.

Now, during a battle, you get little hearts that give you more points, during fever time you get colored stars that give you double the points. You should always try to collect as many as you can, sometimes they make the difference between you passing the challenge or failing. Each card also has a certain skill that can activate during the battle, but it doesn’t always happen and they don’t help you that much. What’s important is for you to tap each card at the same time to activate the x3 combo. That gives you more hearts/stars and points.

The last menu is the Nightmare, which is a sort of a gathca. You need to summon cards in Nightmare in order to have a better chance of winning the dance challenges. They’re pretty expensive, 10 cards cost around 25$ so yeah...the good news is that you get 3 free summons daily and that you get special offers where you can buy them at a much better price.

Now for the review which was the whole point of this:

Of course I love it, I wouldn’t waste an hour trying to explain the game if I didn’t wish for more ppl to play it. Not gonna lie, I pretty much started playing just because the advertisement for it was so ridiculous. Never expected it to be this much fun! I love the characters! Even the ones like Asmodeus and Satan, who I didn’t care much for in the beginning, I started to love as the story progressed. I like the fact that so far you don’t have to choose a certain route and you can interact on a deeper level with each character. You do get intimacy points when you complete a dance challenge or when you put them to work, but for what purpose, that is yet to be clear. You do get more messages and phone calls from the character when your intimacy is higher but you can’t focus on just one.

Another thing that I like is that it’s not clear what gender the MC is so that’s great, you also don’t have a background story other than a certain point which will be revealed later on and which I don’t want to spoil.

All in all, the game is pretty complex, the characters are interesting and fun, MC is pretty sassy and even though chapters 15 and 16 were a bit disappointing I think the story has a lot more to reveal.

And now for the main question that I will probably be asked, can the game be played for free? The answer to that would be yes. So far I’ve spent around 15$ and I’ve received quite a lot for it. The game is pretty generous even if you don’t want to spend a dime, as long as you work on completing your challenges and tasks, you will get a lot of free stuff. You also get special offers that are half of price of what they normally cost.

Overall, I highly recommend it, there’s still a lot to talk about but I’ll let you discover and play it for yourselves.
