Plague Light Info Dump
Okay so my idea for a Light/Plague clan is kind of weird. It starts off with a bunch of archeologists operating in the Emperor’s Wake discovered a strange temple whose architecture didn’t match – it was built as a holy place where their important ally was able to worship. It was an impressive structure of marble and gold, and in the center was a statue of Lightweaver and Plaguebringer, each holding a gilded bowl. This discovery was pretty important, and a sign of things to come. As more researchers poured over the area they kept finding more and more references to this Light/Plague culture. They showed up with more temples in allying lands, in artifacts they traded, and in war records. A lot of war records of many clans – apparently this Light/Plague culture was an empire and expanding.
Eventually they hit paydirt and find one of the Light/Plague culture’s ruined cities.
Lots of archiving and discovery, and they discover a map, detailing more of their holdings. Including the Light/Plague clan’s main city. After a brief scare of the Emperor walking far too close for comfort, an expedition to their capital sets off. Luckily this city was well preserved, time and Luminax have spared this city.
The archaeologists also discover why this clan was lost to history – littering the streets are bodies.
Most of them warriors locked in battle or those who succumbed to their wounds. War. They were attacked by a stronger clan; wiped out the nobles, killed the priests, buried their twisted religion. If there were any survivors, they fled and never returned. Walking the eerily quite temple walls surrounded by the dead and riches of a long-lost empire is…. Sad.
The archaeologists, tomb robbers and treasure hunters take back artifacts, and a few of these ornate coffins lining the temple. And that is where they made a mistake. These coffins are actually… a ritual tool that keeps the dragon inside hovering in between life and death. During the assault most of them were cracked open and the dragon inside killed – except for a few. In one of them lies the last surviving princess of this Light/Plague culture. The sun may have set on her people, but their empire will rise again! She will rebuild it, 1000 times grander! She just has to wait for them to figure out how to open her prison and she will live again! I’m debating on there being more like her who managed to get overlooked when her family was wiped out and her people scattered to the winds. For sure she is the last of the noble bloodline.
Some of the inspiration for this clan comes from Christianity. Specifically the older stuff – a bunch of worshippers believing that they start life in debt, born in sin. Lightweaver and Plaguemother does not love them. That the act of suffering and sacrifice is to be brought closer to the divine. Flagellants and martyrs who take on the sin of others. Sad saints. And can’t forget the impressive looking cathedrals. Also included in this is the Aztecs. Blood sacrifice is key to this clan – the belief that the gods require sacrifices to keep their creations running. Sometimes it is a trickle offered to the scarlet stained altar of the Lightweaver, other times whole hearts are offered up to the gods. Blood is life and magic, and the gods need it. Incorporate some of that Aztec City look into their Cathedral Cities. Combating their dour religion and war like nature is their vivacious grasp on life. They throw 100% of their being into celebrations and the arts – the sheer unbridled joy is a stark contrast to their faith. They sing, they dance, and above all else feel. Also included is glorious White Phyrexia, if only for the amazing White/Red imagery. Like scarlet veins and pure flowers blooming.
Some Pathfinder classes I think they’d use.
Pain Tasters: a prestige class that uses pain and ritual to buff up their stats. Even for those not blessed by Lightweaver or Plaguemother, pain can still bring out the divine and elevate you. Another prestige class, Scar Seekers take on self-mortification rituals, and are empowered by their pain. Their religious self-scarification leaves them a patchwork of scars, which offers various boons when it comes to healing and sharing pain. Holy Vindicators are the last prestige class I think fits them. They gain stigmata and while bleeding bolster their attacks with divine might and lay down curses. Clerics of Martyrdom and Tyranny walk down the same temple halls and psionic collectives expand their senses in opulent guildhalls. These psionic collectives churn out Hemokinetics that learn to manipulate their blood, and psychics dedicated to pain master their mental powers here.
Outside of the standard FR Light and Plague type of magic, I figure theirs focuses on three things.
The first: Healing Magic. A culture dedicated to bloodletting and ritual penance sufferers would have some of the best healers around. Plus taking on the wounds of others fits in with their martyr theming. Secondly: Pain, and the emotions it brings. Despair. Anger. Fear. This is why they have psionic collectives. And lastly: the Red Blood that flows through the veins of the universe, of which they are just a small part.

In honor of me rising from the dead I think its time I talk about my two(?) fav lore families in the sims franchise the smith-curious and the spector-beaker families and I guess also the singles as well - lore anon
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Hello lore anon and welcome back! ❤️
Sorry I took a minute to answer this, it has been a crazy busy couple of days! I'm going to put my whole response under a read more because I have lots of thoughts on this topic!!!
We all took for granted how insane and amazing TS2 lore was. God, I pour one out for her everyday RIP.
Anyway, let's get into this! ↓
Strangetown is my favorite world in TS2 as well! No one is surprised by this I'm sure. I actually ended up tying it (and some of its townies 👀...) into my Strangerville story because I just couldn't help myself. But I'll be honest - the family tree stuff with Lola/Chloe/Jenny/Pollination Tech 9 has always made my brain melt a little. I'm a visual person so I had to reference their family tree as a guide for our conversation. I'll provide the one that I used below!
Tumblr media
Lore-wise, you have to start this conversation by talking about alien pollination and normal sim reproduction. You just can't avoid it. For me, I've always seen them as completely separate entities... otherwise Jenny is married to a man who, for lack of a better term, knowingly banged and impregnated her father lmfao. But not only that - if they were the same, that would imply that aliens are abducting people and engaging in sexual relations with them (with willingness or unwillingness not playing a factor; sim abductions can happen to sims who want or fear them) and this is kind of reductive and uncharacteristic of what we know about their species (plus the implications are icky imo). Therefore, I never thought that Pollination Tech 9 would view Lola and Chloe as his children, even though they technically are, in the way that Poli Tech wouldn't view Tycho as his child either (nor would Pascal regard Poli Tech as the father either).
If I'm recalling correctly, I don't think sims are necessarily aware which alien pollinated them in game (even though each sim neighborhood in TS2 has only one Pollination Technician, therefore making all the half-alien babies in that neighborhood half-siblings by default within the limited span of the game). I also don't know that male sims in TS2, from what I remember, are aware they've been pollinated because they're always surprised to find they're "pregnant," meaning there likely wasn't any a-typical intercourse happening that they could connect to the pregnancy (even if, let's be honest, Pascal might have been down for that). I think of pollination as an act similar to cloning, (the wiki says through "advanced technology") or as the name implies it could also just be a consequence of coming into proximity with their species (their name being a reference to reproduction methods of flora by pollination, for example). But realistically... it's a fictional simulation game, and in the case of TS2 it was super campy and a knowingly-leaning-into-the-outrageous kind of simulation game (which I loved and miss). So who knows!
All that to say that I agree; regardless of how the baby process works for aliens, it is still an absolutely crazy family tree lmao. But on the bright side... that at least implies that Pollination Tech 9 wasn't into his wife's father, nor might he be aware that Chloe and Lola are his children. 😅 But I'll stop here because if I think about it for too long, I think my brain might explode lmao. Still, I'm inclined toward the belief that the messiness adds to the flavor! 😂 The Sims team today could never write such a juicy bit of lore. My ass ate their dynamic up.
Also, quick note, JILL HAS EYES IN THE BACK OF HER HEAD?! THAT IS WHY SHE WEARS THE PIGTAILS? WHAT THE HELL?! Gonna look this up -
Tumblr media
Holy shit!!! This fact is equal parts incredible and terrifying. Thank you for bringing this my attention. I can't believe I did not know this before this moment. What a (horrifying) little legend.
Oh I loved (and still love) Nervous Subject and Pascal together. Just thinking about that ship makes me giggle because it was one of my first exposures to "shipping" and "fandoms" as a preteen. I always put them together and had them raise little Tycho to fulfill Nervous' family aspiration. (I should note that I was also an avid JRO enthusiast. Johnny has two hands, why should he have to pick between Ophelia and Ripp?) Another interesting layer to the Ophelia/Olive/Nervous family is that Ophelia would be unaware of her direct relation to Nervous (1st cousins)! I loved playing around with this; Olive was a very secretive person who had a dark side for sure, so I'm sure Ophelia would have a lot of questions following her aunt's death (the first being why her aunt's inheritance is going to some rando named Nervous lmao). Plus, who says Ophelia didn't know her aunt was taking people out? She might not have known why, but she had to know all those deaths around Olive couldn't have been coincidental. That's messed up on its own lmao. I like to think that once Nervous and Ophelia meet, they become close and he even helps care for her in a weird-older-brother type way. I just know they would trauma bond lmao.
I didn't care for Loki or Circe (I never played with their household), so I don't have super strong opinions on them. That being said, I love reading people's theories on their connection to the Curious brothers. I think the ongoing feud with the brother's and their connection to Nervous is the most interesting part of their story, but my ideal ending for them would have been being exiled from the town and their careers in general for their shady practices. Pascal seemed like the science antithesis to Loki and Circe who seemed to believe that it was okay for scientific truths to come at the cost of the wellbeing of others. Also, I think Circe is too hot and too evil for Loki AND Vidcund. That's woman commits many crimes, but her taste in men is up there as one of the worst things about her lmao.
Lastly, LAZLO. He's so silly goofy and so chill in comparison to his brothers, and he's definitely the black-sheep of the family. I love how in comparison to Vidcund and Pascal, his personal life is pretty typical and mild. He's just vibing as a third party witness to the chaos. He didn't sign up for any of the drama, yet you know he's a ride-or-die. In my mind, he's also the cool uncle. He'd catch Johnny smoking and be like, "Gotta share little man." He's the best. Little Fun fact - when I watched season 4 of Stranger Things, I couldn't unsee Lazlo Curious every time Argyle opened his mouth.
Tumblr media
If you don't see it, that's okay. I can't unsee it though! He's high af, he's precious, he's always has snacks, he will take down the government or transport a dead body for the homies. He should be protected. I totally, 100% agree that Nova is his child!
WHEW sorry for blabbing! Strangetown was a doozy and you're right that the Bella Goth situation adds a whole other intricacy (which I'll definitely be talking about in her specific deep dive post).
So glad to have you back! 🤗

My husband and I's birthdays are three weeks apart so we were treating everyone to lunch for them. It was a bit of a circus but we were at a place that's like not very popular, so it was fine lmao
Anyway, just before we left, my mother in law accused me of filming her and streaming what she's doing online. I was on my phone, theorizing and connecting stuff (the one I was looking at that moment - The Albatross line about a rose by any other name was a Taymoji from I Know Places, aside from being a line from Romeo and Juliet) and I bumped my phone on the table while I was typing it out to send it to a friend. As soon as I did, I lifted up the phone to see if anything cracked because it's a glass table. I have no idea how she interpreted that as me recording her (or why the hell I would be doing that in the first place, she was just sitting watching a film) and she started screaming. The thing is, I didn't even hear her, usually when I'm theorizing, I'm also listening to the song at the same time, so I had headphones in, blasting the song at full volume. But my husband did, and started arguing with her about how she's making stuff up, and asking why I'd be doing that. When she saw that I was ignoring her (I turned off the song when I heard commotion but kept my headphones in), she switched the subject to why was the lunch scheduled today, when her husband has to go to work afterward, it should have been a different day when he's off work. But the thing is, this was the date that my in-laws agreed would work for them two weeks ago. Because we were making sure it would work for them, not everyone else. So that argument wasn't working for her either.
Then at the restaurant all she talked about was illnesses various relatives had, or funerals and funeral anniversaries (my grandma on my dad's side, the crazy one, has the same conversation topics btw) and this was a birthday lunch! Each time she opened her mouth it was a downer lmao Everyone was trying to steer the conversation in different directions but that woman is unstoppably morbid skskks We're back home now and my dad called me to ask what the hell was up with her, that's how bad she was lmao
I ignored her the whole time, didn't even look at her, I'm expecting for her to bring that up the next time she feels bored and wants to start an argument. Oh and to top it all off, everyone got us gifts, but my in-laws. My family gave us gifts for our birthdays when they happened a couple of weeks ago, and again for this lunch because they didn't want to come "empty handed". My in-laws gave me a gift on the day too, but nothing today, and my husband got nothing from them both times. On one hand, who cares, but on the other, they're his parents, you'd think they'd at least pretend to care? I know they got me a gift because they think I'm gonna tell my parents and they want to know pretend like everything is fine and dandy when that happens, but I'm not the type to even mention stuff like this. But they're both shitty for the way they treat their son and I hate it.
Anyway, enough about that, tell me your favorites off the album!!
everything i learn about your in laws makes me wanna inspect their brains with a microscope like what miserable people 😭 also not getting your son anything for his bday is a little wild even as an adult
anyway!!! im still trying to process but thank you aimee, so high school, the prophecy, and also guilty as son and but daddy i love him are bops but im trying not to think of the Muse tm

(caps warning) OKAY I KNOW I SAID I'D LEAVE YOU BE BUT I'M A FUCKING GENIUS AND
SO SO SO WHEN THE RIFT OPENED: REALITY KINDA BROKE (as it tends to do) AND THUS KINDA DUPLICATED. The hermits coming from their side to the empires side momentarily deleted that existence (hence the fact that multiple grumbots could exist at once, because they didn't) which also ties into why grumbot is talking about "there is no mumbo in this reality," ect.... this is why when the empires people went into the other side of the rift, the fact that there was still a duplicate of the empires side meant that the empires bit was somehow still existent, but the fact that there were two grumbots (despite one having been blown up, the fact that the rift was open while there WERE two grumbots) meant that the rift started closing bc it was like "nope fuck this this is too much interdimensional shit" and closed, and this is why when they returned to empires, everything was fucked up. shelby where the fUCK was that village you were at?? this is why the wanted posters are up- hold on i'm about to explain that bit. chromia is well, orange. would you take a wild guess about who did that. yeah. sO BASICALLY, because there were two timelines open on the empires side, but one timeline had nobody to keep it in check, so the other went out of whack, stuff leaking over- stuff being owen stILL not being a llama, word of that got to the academy (joey migHT've helped) and thus shubble is wanted. the moment that people came back over the alternate timeline was split (hence why there were no duplicates, ect), but some things remained, mostly from the people who would cause the most chaos (that being owen.) also this is why, as the portal was closing, sausage remembered everything- because the timelines snapped back. so yeah uh
sorry i've typed a fuck ton this has been filling my brain and leaking out my ears for the past two hours.
jesus christ i somehow understand this completely and dont understand it at all. but its fucking interestinf as hell— and all of them ARE saying that shit is Wack as hell. or most of them. Joel seems fine. No surprise there tho-

Lore anon again here, dw if you allow me I will be dropping so many things because I was so deep into the lore and it still rots my brain to this day. It's literally to the point where I say to people happy [insert important lore day here]
speaking of which I believe today is the two year anniversary of c!Wilbur being revived so happy revival day (it might've been the 30th can't quite remember)
While I'm here actually sorry this is a bit of brainrot that I got randomly back in September and it kills me to think about so sorry for the spam
Okokok so basically right, during the 16th techno gave his "do you wanna be a hero" monologue accompanied by him telling tommy the story of Theseus right. At the time the takeaway from the myth was to illustrate that "good things don't happen to heroes" and all that jazz
And then with exile starting a few weeks later it was then seen as accidental foreshadowing and maybe a sign of what's to come
But what if I told you that maybe the story of Theseus was actually the story of pogtopia.
Let me explain
In the beginning, tommy exchanged his discs in return for lmanburgs independence. While be didn't actually kill dream (who sorry is the minataur here), he won, he got independence from the greater smp.
Then the election and just like Theseus he was exiled and who did he run to. Lycodames and who is his lycodames. Pick your poison it's either techno or Wilbur
Techno, who tommy recruited to them then beat schlatt and take back lmanburg who then turned around and unleashed the withers and specifically told tommy to die like a hero and/or Wilbur who tommy ran with, who promised tommy at the beginning that they would take back lmanburg who then turned around and set off the tnt beneath it
Obviously it's not a perfect comparison but it fits oddly well pogtopia. Especially considering how it falls apart in actual exile arc since there's no lycodames there and really the only thing is tommy getting exiled by the people he saved but eh
Honestly it was probably an accident on cc!techno's part but hey still
OKAY COULD FINALLY SIT DOWN AND ANSWER THIS
lore anon i love u soo much never feel bad
you can always talk about whatever i'll try to keep up because i remember the main beats about lore but sometimes brain goes BZZZ and i need to recheck the sources (look around the vods and wiki)
I FIND THIS SO INTERESTING !! i do think ccTechno's comparisions to actual greek mythology were very very much wrong and that's i really loved them because of that, because it created for very interesting comparision as he was still one of the main ccs that knew of greek mythology. i think your read is very very interesting though yeah as the og comparision is faulty the resulting ones will have to be changed. thank u for sharing this with me :]

what’s the significance of Final Fantasy for them? I know they both love it but was it one of the things they first bonded over?
yeah they played a lot of FF when they first started hanging out and it became their thing. phil's first christmas present to dan was the tonberry plushie, which is a character from FF (and still on their shelf btw…. im so normal abt that…)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
in 2009-2011 especially they both mentioned FF and the songs having a special meaning to them many times. like “interrupted by fireworks”, "tifa's theme", and "holding my thoughts in my heart" (brb crying just thinking abt this). phil used those songs in the vday video and you can find some videos of dan playing FF songs too! plus dan said this in a formspring answer:
Tumblr media
after all these years they still play FF together and now we know that they literally have a framed picture in their forever home of them as catboys....
Tumblr media
like it really is an incredibly special thing for them, and probably a pretty strong reminder of the times when they met, the beginning of dan & phil :’)

Tidelord looks at the newly created Skydancers and is like "Free Therapist" and makes his own to work alongside his Guardians, to help them with charge issues. Icewarden sees perfect overseer for his prisons - capable of discerning truth from lies and know who is planning to escape.
Look. The Tidelord knows he needs to deal with his kids' issues. The Icewarden makes his issues his kids' issues. I see nothing wrong here.
And on the serious side, I do love that idea of stoic overseer Skydancers watching over those who the Icewarden has imprisoned, unmoved by false pleas. Mm.

The sims 3 lore is just as wacko as the sims 2 istg my fav lore has to be the dead clone wives lemme explain. So in twinbrook there's s sim name Juan Darer (he's quite interesting to look at too) in the junkyard he owns is the grave of Lacy Darer. Now Juan and Lacy have no relationship but she could be his ex wife as deceased spouses aren't shown on the family tree in the sims 3. Lacy died in a fire but what's the crazy part Juan's best friend Harwood Clay is has a possible wife named Macy Clay who also died in a fire. Macy and Lacy's names aren't just a coincidence. Macy and Lacy are almost completely identical. Many think they're twins but twins don't have the same exact same personalities. The darker theory is that Juan being the eccentric creator created clone wives for him and his best friend and Lacy and Macy somehow perished possible in the cloning process which is also the reason Juan's house caught on fire and he lives in a barn.

Sorry for taking forever to respond to this! This month has been wildly busy in the worst way!! I hate summer! Everyone in my house has been sick at some point! UGH!
Anyway, I finally had a chance to sit down and thoroughly look into both of these families. I'm going to start with the Doe family because, honestly, I don't have a whole lot to add about the Darers and I'm eager to jump into the Does (my thoughts on the Darers will be at the end though!).
Let's dive in! ↓
I had to look up Midnight Hollow to start, and EEEEEEP I love this world's whole vibe. If I play the Sims 3 THIS will be the world I start in!!! Favorite world I've learned about in TS3 so far. I lowkey want to live here irl.
But imagine my shock when I found out that they were putting whole ass worlds on The Sims 3 store. That's absolutely insane lmao!! They would of had my wallet with this one though, not gonna lie. The vibes are top-tier.
Tumblr media
Now I looked up the Doe family just like you said and I need you to know that they are the kind of unsolved lore I live for. This family alone makes me want to pirate buy TS3 today.
Tumblr media
The Wiki's description wasn't necessarily weird, but the household description left me with many questions.
Jane is the perfect housewife, from her neat hairstyle to her fashionable yet conservative dress. She's neat, nurturing, loves her kids, and can make a mean pot roast! Meanwhile, John is rising in the ranks at his corporate job. He feels successful in life and supported by his family. He works hard but comes home in enough time to teach his kids a lesson or two about life and talk to his wife about her day. Nothing mysterious seems to be happening here, but didn't their house used to have a basement?
That last line. Yeah. WTF? That made the hairs on my arm stand up, especially considering that the world they come with is supposed to mimic a classic-horror vibe. So Immediately I'm getting serial killer vibes, I'm getting psychological thriller, I'm getting family that invites you over for dinner only for you to realize that you are dinner.
Just from the description alone, I'm thinking that the parents are people with a wicked past - coconspirators in crime (whether Jane is a willing or unwilling participant is debatable but intriguing) that may involve killing and disposing, from the sounds of the "former-basement" and the fact that no one really knows why they've suddenly come to a new town without any explanation of their past. Additionally, the names feel like a reference to true crime and murder to me - the last name Doe, with first names Jane and John specifically, are typically names given to unidentifiable victims who, more than not, are victims of violence and brutalization which leaves them unidentifiable. Or, at times, they're simply unidentifiable based on the fact that they don't have family or friends that could claim them, thus making them the perfect targets if you've got bad intentions. The parents seem shady, but beyond that their names reaffirm that they aren't the perfect, squeaky-clean, nuclear family they pretend to be. I mean, you could even speculate that Jane and John are not even their real names. Obviously the sims team are big fans or campy, on-the-nose names (Bob Pancakes, the Goth family, the Calientes, Marcus Flex), but I've always liked to think that sim names can serve more than one purpose.
I jumped over to The Doe family community blog post and the interview there further confirmed a lot of my suspicions, and that whatever they're hiding might be sealed off in what used to be the family basement (the dev who made this family makes sure to draw attention to this enough that it's clearly significant). It's no coincidence that the basement suddenly "disappeared" (or perhaps just became inaccessible) as soon as the family moved in. Some notable things from this interaction:
The classic, old-fashioned misogyny from John. "The light of my life keeps my home perfect and welcoming." It's subtle, but says a lot about this family's old-fashioned dynamic. I hate the condescending, possessive energy between these two. I literally felt uncomfortable during this entire interview (I'd argue that is intentional).
The recurring and growingly tense persistence for the interviewer/producer to drink more tea. BIG red flag on this because my first thought is "Why?" I can understand being hospitable, but it seems like the interviewer has already been taken care of, so why the push? Jane is literally described as frantic, dodging the interviewer's questions entirely and hyper-focusing on the tea as if this is her role to play in what could be an unfortunate turn of events. On the other hand, John seems to be cheerily dismissive. I'm seeing skilled, practiced manipulation in the form of feigned charisma and charm - he doesn't ignore the questions but rather skillfully pivots and tries to keep things light and comfortable. His energy is notably different than the rest of the family, which makes him seem like the primary, skilled aggressor. He is keeping shit under control just enough to not raise suspicion, in my opinion.
But, most interesting to me, is their children's reactions to what is going on. The bio tells us so little about them, but their actions say so much. James, being a toddler and the youngest, obviously is going to be relatively clueless. But Jenn, the daughter, Sits quietly and stares ahead with an eerie blank expression. This feels like a traumatized, almost dissociative response. She seems removed in an anticipatory sense, on-brand for how a child might respond to signs of danger. I'd go as far to say that she is exhibiting one of the 5 fight and flight trauma responses; mainly the "freeze" response. The oldest son Joseph, on the other hand, is outwardly angry. He even leaves the room and slams the door as a response to the conversation, perhaps simply triggered by the mention of moving to Midnight Hollow, but I would venture to guess that he's also frustrated with the events taking place beyond that. After all, I would think that if there is anyone aware of the parent's possible nefarious nature and wrongdoings, it would be him. That being said, he's a teenager... but still a child, nonetheless. He unfortunately has little to no control, and it's clear that he's exhibiting a flight response, showing his own disdain as much as he can (a touch of fight in that door slam) while taking an opportunity to flee the scene. In the picture, their eldest son and daughter seem to be looking at them with... complex expressions. They're certainly not happy.
Tumblr media
The whole interview ends because the wife is "not feeling well," but that brings me back to my point about John being a skilled manipulator and the main aggressor running the web that his family is caught in: he would be able to cite when things are getting out of control. A predator knows when to strike and when to back off, and I think this is John's way of regaining control before too much is brought to light. Many people have been spared, unknowingly, from the clutches of a serial killer because they got lucky and the killer decided it wasn't the right place/right time - that's the vibe I'm getting, idk.
The energy around this family reminds me of an Ari Aster or a Jodan Peele psychological horror feel - everything is fine on the surface until it's not, and that tensity and complexity is disturbing and uncomfortable for the outsider (the audience) looking in, but it's usually just as disturbing for our growingly-aware protagonists (who, based on actions alone, I would argue could possibly be the eldest son and perhaps even the daughter, in this case). "The Stepford Wives" by Ira Levin has also been cited possible inspiration at least for Jane's motivations/role in the story. If you don't know about this story, I recommend checking it out.
As I researched, I was actually surprised with the amount of people who did not jump to the murderer route right off the bat. Some other theories include the family being hypnotized and even speculation that they might be robots (likely a take resulting from Levin's work).
Personally, I am more inclined to think that the parents are people with a wicked past, but it was interesting to read alternative takes. The robot and hypnotism theories are intriguing to me, but they neglect to explain the mysterious disappearance of the basement or the children's behaviors. Furthermore, the "brainwashed" and "repetitive" nature Jane has could just as much be signs of trauma/being in an unsafe environment/being forced to act against her will just as much as they could be literal signs of being robotic or hypnotized, so I don't think those things are necessary. Trauma, fear, and feeling trapped are enough to make a person act outside the realm of "normal."
Hell, I think I've only covered the surface here, but I've talked for so long lol. It seems their story might always just be a mystery left for speculation, sadly.

As for the Darers: from what I'm seeing, the theory that the wives were clones (or at the very least identical twins) makes sense to me. I put pictures of them below, and just from their CAS headshots you can definitely see that the girls are identical - there's gotta be some relation there
Tumblr media
Personally, I lean toward clones due to the traits being the same. Twins in the sims franchise have always had their own unique interests and traits, so these girls being near carbon-copies doesn't make sense if they're only sisters. Plus, the franchise loves clones (looking at you, two versions of Bella Goth in the Sims 2). For the era of franchise that TS3 was in, I feel like the team was still making the game lean toward whimsy and outlandish as opposed to realism.
Regardless of the relation these two girls share though, the fire death is suspicious and maybe the only thing that keeps this from feeling like an open and shut mystery. It also acts as another good reason to lean toward clones as opposed to sisters unless the fire was caused accidentally by Lacy herself. I think the cloning housefire theory is compelling, due to the girls not actually having a relationship with either of these guys explicitly on the family tree. I guess in that case they were actually their potential wives more than actual wives, which would explain why there's no marriage memory as well.
In some ways it's endearing that Juan would do all that, not just for himself but for his buddy as well, especially if it caused his house to burn down and ultimately push him out into a barn. In the end though, I think the whole cloning situation leans more toward weird when you consider the implications. If you have to invent a wife, you probably should just stay single my dude.
Last and unrelated sidenote: Harwood Clay's hair was an unexpected, horrifying surprise lmao.
Just from what you've told me, TS3 Twinbrook world had a lot of interesting characters. I had no idea that TS3 lore was even close in wackiness to TS2 and TS1, but my takeaway here is that we all should be more pissed off that TS4 premades are so dull.

LORE TIME!!!
Levi has some of the strongest demonic abilities known to man and yokia and was known as a nightshade descendant aka the most powerful demonic/ angelic hybrid family known but he is biologically the son of Gabriel and a succubus and was sent here to serve because god dropped him, one hell of a grandpa I’d say/ sarc, he is strong enough to destroy the galaxy we are in plus the next four over on both sides, strong enough to collapse all parallel universes if angered

Oh my god.
