I'm a bit curious if The Loud House fandom is still active or not, at least the saner part of the fandom (the ones who post fanart, GIFs, and speculation posts). It's just that I wonder if anyone here still watches the show considering its staggering ratings and admittedly dwindling writing. Lately, its latest episode, "Bye Bye Birthday", premiered on Nicktoons last month with 0.09 million views (that's probably around 90,000 views). Not to mention that its spin-off, Los Casagrandes, had been cancelled about a year ago, and its unwanted live-action spin-off, The Really Loud House, is still airing on Nickeldeon with staggering ratings as well.
Don't get me wrong, I still like the show and its abundance of characters. I especially love its comic strip-based cartoon style. It's just that I feel that the magic it had isn't there anymore. Maybe it's because that the show grew more fantastical than reality-grounded, especially with its movie and how it focused on... dragons and ghosts.
Anyway, I feel like this show isn't as popular as it used to be, and I wonder if some of the fandom here feels the same way. Maybe I'm getting too old. I don't know. Anyway, I'm going to see if I could finish up my two-year-old draft on The Loud House and what it could have been.

Una comisión de Nikki de Los Casagrandes en la playa, curiosa comisión por que no me la pidió el mismo del que hice varias chicas el año pasado pero funciona como otra mas para sumar jeje. Espero les guste.
A commission of Nikki from The Casagrandes on the beach, a curious commission because it wasn't asked by the same person I did several girls with last year but it works as another one to add up hehe. I hope you like it.

Ironically on the same day of Leah Mei Gold (the voice of Sid Chang')'s birthday today, an official new trailer for The Casagrandes Movie has dropped.
Streaming next month on March 22nd on Netflix.
One of the animated movies, I'm hyped for, along with Kung Fu Panda 4 (as obviously, I know both movies are made for kids, but actually loved by animation fans who are older than the 6-12 age demographic), which hits theatres March 8th.
Yes, 2 new animated features I'm hyped for next month in March from Netflix, Nickelodeon Animation Studios, Nickelodeon, Universal Pictures and DreamWorks Animation. As a popular culture person who's into content from Nickelodeon, Netflix, and DreamWorks Animation.
Yes, Izabella Alvarez (Ronnie Anne Santiago) and Leah Mei Gold (Sid Chang) are good friends of me, as they recognized my arts and entertainment content for nearly 5 years since 2019, and last year in 2023, I did get a Cameo video from Izabella doing her Ronnie Anne voice.
Also, as I always say, I've been to Mexico in person 2 times. I went for my first time there back in 2005, when I went from Los Angeles, CA (where voice recording for most cartoons are recorded, as they're members of SAG-AFTRA) to Mexico with a cruise from Royal Caribbean, and my 2nd time in 2007, when I visited my Filipino relatives in the greater Lower Rio Grande Valley area residing in Mission-McAllen, TX area (as it's by the US-Mexico International Border). As I'm proud to be an American person, with a Filipino descent based in the greater Chicago area supporting this American-produced cartoon spin-off of The Loud House. As this spin-off cartoon featured multi-cultural.
To promote this, I'm also planning doing more new fan arts based on this.

Let's Talk #TheCasagrandes: Final Thoughts
After three seasons and 60 episodes, Nickelodeon's The Casagrandes has come to an end.
Tumblr media
For Nickelodeon, it was something rare: An animated series about a multigenerational Mexican-American family.
For my final thoughts on The Casagrandes, feel free to keep reading. There will be spoilers.
When a traditional animated show features the whole family, they limit it to just parents, siblings, and the occasional pet. Additional relatives like aunts, uncles, or grandparents tend to only appear on special occasions or holiday episodes. The Casagrandes had them as part of the main ensemble, allowing for a wider range of stories.
Tumblr media
Despite the large number of characters, every single family member and most of their friends got their moment to shine. Like The Loud House, as the show went on, it relied far less on its supposed main protagonist of Ronnie Anne. Several episodes from Season 3 had her either in the background, play a supporting role, or not show up. It helped expand upon the Changs, Ronnie Anne's friends, and her relatives with stories that did not necessarily need her involvement.
The show highlighted Latin American traditions such as Nochebuena, El Raton, and Dia de Los Muertos. For anyone who grew up with these traditions, it was great to see them presented in a very respectful manner without feeling contrived or tacked on.
Tumblr media
It also had the rare feat of NOT ending its run on Nicktoons. The last time any Nicktoon accomplished that? Sanjay and Craig, also after three seasons and 60 episodes, in 2016.
Tumblr media
With that noted, there were a couple of missed opportunities. The most obvious was the lack of crossovers with The Loud House.
Each season had at least one appearance by both Lori and Lincoln, with them either calling Bobby/Ronnie Anne, visiting Great Lakes, or both. The first season finale, "Cursed!", did feature the Loud family, but only Lisa would later make a second appearance. Clyde also showed up, albeit with Lincoln, in the show's final half-hour episode "Phantom Freakout".
Tumblr media
In return, The Loud House cut back on appearances from the spin-off's characters after Season 4. Season 5 was the first to not feature Ronnie Anne at all, while Bobby only appeared whenever Lori showed up (including the live-action A Loud House Christmas). Even in The Loud House Movie, the show's only representation were the two in the Mercado. It would have been great to see more crossovers, but the spinoff likely wanted to avoid relying so much on its predecessor.
The show also avoided bringing up the elephant in the room of Bobby and Ronnie Anne's parents Arturo and Maria being either separated or divorced. The former was brought up in the first episode, while the only affirmation of the latter came from a text blurb about Arturo in the graphic novels.
Tumblr media
Considering the seriousness of such a topic, one that has only been explored vaguely on other animated series, it was for the best the show didn't bring it up. The closest was in the episode "Date with Destiny", where the two try to get their parents back together but in the end accept their current situation.
If there is anything else the show could have done, it would have been great to see the whole family travel outside of Great Lakes and more episodes with the Changs.
Tumblr media
Unlike most cancellations, this is not exactly the end for the Casagrandes. Some of the family members have begun to appear over on the current sixth season of The Loud House, with possibly more appearances next season.
It remains to be seen how this will continue to work, either by the characters conveniently meeting up, more reunions, or Ronnie Anne moving back to Royal Woods. The latter option seems very unlikely.
If Ronnie Anne were to move back to Royal Woods, what would happen to her extended family and the rest of Great Lakes? Even if the whole family moved, there would be no reason to go back to Great Lakes and subsequently lose a whole set of characters.
Tumblr media
The Casagrandes differed from other animated series not only by its protagonist, but also by the multigenerational family aspect and exploration of Latin American traditions. For Nick, it was a rare Latino-centric Nicktoon, the only other notable ones being Dora The Explorer and El Tigre: The Adventures of Manny Rivera.
While it may have run for only three seasons, the spin-off did manage to outlast around 30 other Nicktoons, including It's Pony, Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and Glitch Techs.
Tumblr media
The Casagrandes streams on both Pluto TV and Paramount+. The first season is available on DVD, while the complete series is available to own on Digital.
Tumblr media
Until next time, thank you for reading!

I'm the anon that sent you the message about hating the term PoC. Yeah, I pretty much agreee with everything you say. I don't believe much in POC solidarity because our struggles are very different between each other, and trying to paint everything as us vs whites does not really work. Perhaps for americans it does, since they have a very diverse population, but it's more difficult when talking about other countries.
Like latin americans do not have the best relationships between each other, they might share language but have very different cultures. Like the other day I was reading about this cartoon named "Oye primos" that was going to premiere and it was made by a second gen latina, where she looked to represent her growing up in a latin community in the USA, but she was clowned by pretty much every latino leaving outside of America. First, because the name of the cartoon is gramatically wrong (it should be "OIGAN primos, not OYE primos), second, because she used the word "LATINX", which latinos hate, and third, because she named the town the characters live in "Terremoto (Earthquake) Heights" or something like that (people though it was offensive because Mexico and Chile have suffered through a lot of earthquakes). And there's other stuff, like people saying the animation is ugly (very calart) and so on. Some people even started praising Los Casagrande, a spin off of The Loud House with a main mexican family thats not even made by latinos, but its considered far superior.
Sorry, I got a little carried away with that, what I wanted to say it's that its pretty common for latinos to kinda tear each other up, but they unite if they want to clown a "gringo" or something (and yes, they pointed out that the author basically being a 2nd gen makes her a gringa... I guess). Plus a lot of latinos dont like anything that looks "woke", and they considered that show does, so it was doomed from the start. The creator of the show felt pretty overwhelmed by the negative reception, received a lot of backlash and it apparently affected her a lot. I feel pretty bad for her actually.
And yeah, argentinians are actually pretty white, not only because a lot of italians and germans migrated there (if you ever read the names of their national soccer team, you'll notice many names are of italian origin), but because they're at the very south. Chile is also pretty white. But yeah, argentinians have always been pinned as being pretty arrogant and full of themselves, so it doesnt surprise me that they feel they're superior because their team is white. I remember that argentinians and fans of Messi in general were clowning Mbappe for allegedly being in a relationship with a transwoman, so they invented some pretty homophobic chants... soccer fans be like that
Ugh, this got so long,... I was gonna mention asians and their own issues too, but i think it's enough. I did wanted to ask you something though: is France a racist country?? How has your experience being impacted by being black?
Don't be sorry anon, I love these loooong asks where I get to know more my followers 🧡
It's pretty ironic you're talking about Asians because in one of my post where I'm talking about White conservative weaponizing minorities against each other somehow triggered A LOT of people. I even got a comment saying "put the reblogs back I have to give my perspective as someone with Asian/japanese ancestry" and I got like..... "Hm no?" LMAO This girl REALLY thought her opinion was remotely relevant when this was my perspective as Black person and I am not interested about some random Asian take on that issue. Sis really thought my post was a diss against Asians success (I mean every single person who interacted with that post had a negative IQ and entirely missed the post that's why I muted the reblogs) and got like "the cOnsErVatiVes aRe jUst acKnoLedgiNg oUr sUcCesS uwu"...... There's no wonder East Asians are looked down as White people's cucks 💀 IDK, if my community was being weaponized by racist scrotes to dogpile on other I wouldn't go uwuwhy do you mean?uwu about it. How can people have so little self awareness? ...That's why I don't believe in POC and that some communities will actually be more than willing this silence us. Sis really tried to all lives matter my take and I have no patience for that.
And soccer is brain disease tbh. Case in point : the racist Argentinians players dragging Mbappé... Which is a shame bc Messi and him seem to be very cool. Fans are the worst. I think I realized how racist these people were when they said ANTOINE GRIEZMANN (France NT player) wasn't White enough just because his mom was...... Portuguese (when his dad is German)💀
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Imagine thinking this man is not White enough when them Argentians be looking like tragic mulattos themselves 💀💀 HE'S LITERALLY THE ARYAN PROTOTYPE 💀💀his name is ANTOINE. THAT'S THE WHITEST FRENCHIEST NAME EVER!! NEVER IN MY LIFE DID I MEET SOMEONE CALLED ANTOINE THAT WASN'T WHIIIIITE 💀💀💀💀
Argentinians living up their nazi heritage ; Portugal ain't white enough lmao...
What's funny with Latins is that they have this thinly veiled superiority complex with Black people.....but highkey are envious of the cultural impact of Black culture worldwide. Latin culture has a load of influence on music, but its impact is not as multifaceted as Black culture (beside music, fashion, hairstyles, make up, slang, etc.). I saw some Latins seethe about Black Panther and the hype the Black community was having from this movie, and Black twitter, in its usual shadiness got like "hmmm don't you have Rio? 🤔" LMAOOOO (it was before Encanto though)
And is France racist? hm... I mean, it's a European country 🥴🥴 but it's definitely one of the least racist one for sure. Non french netizens will do the most about how islamophobic France is, but Islam isn't a race so the problem our country has with Islam isn't much related to race. Because of colonization, France has many territories oversea where its natives are Black, so France is inherently already multiracial, and that's something that many French people acknowledge. I feel like french are more worried about culture than race (ln many aspects, I, as a Christian Black woman, have to bear much less prejudice than a Muslim male, for example). That's why our country is very defensive against Islam (which comes with a whole cultural set) rather than race.
We consider assimilation as a staple and reject self IDing communities (whether they might be sexual, racial, religious). Any stats trying to quantity race, religion or sexuality are ILLEGAL, here. That's why when I see foreign rightoids be like "France is already 25% Muslim!! #greatreplacement" I just know they are full of shit, because such stats are technically illegal...
To give you an example, France leader of the far-FAR right is a Jew...(Eric Zemmour) and a significant amount of people from North Africa/muslim are in the (far) right too.. (many of them change their names to make them sound more french/less Arab such as Jean Messiha lmao)
France itself is a mixed nation between Romans invader and Galicians (basically France indigenous) also some viking mingling in the north(?) That's why french people can be very phenotypically diverse. If you look Griezman (France North type) and Kenji Girac (Southern France type - he's also a gypsy) who are both White french while looking quite different.
Unfortunately nationalism is on the rise, there's an actual revival of neo Nazi (which is hilarious bc France has been invaded/defeated by Nazi and that actual self respecting French rightoids hate Nazism because of that 💀) so I feel like France is getting less sale for foreigners/non Whites. I think France is the best place to live in Europe if you're afraid of racism but yeah, it's getting quite heated here....

Dia de los Muertos Special Part 1: Mucha Lucha: Meet the Muertos and Banditios De Los Muertos (comissioned by WeirdKev 27)
Tumblr media
Hello all you happy calvera's it's Dia de los Muertos, the Day of the Dead! For those unaware, Day of the Dead is a Mexican holiday celebrating those we've lost by leaving out a tribute for them, hoping their souls will come back to us. It's a holiday with a rich tradition, a wonderful message.. and of course this being america it's been largely ignored as, to put it in the words of one asshole
Tumblr media
Thankfully it has gone up in years, with two major feature films i'll undoubtly be covering the next to days of the dead, but Day of the Dead specials are still lacking with the most recent one being the Casagrandes "Croaked!" which I covered a few years back. It's something I hope makes a come back in the wake of Coco as children's television is how a young me learned this holiday existed and how neat it could be. So to kick off this two part retrospective we're looking at an episode that taught me and Kev, who comissioned that, what dia de los muertos is... and it's sequel that was a waste of my time and his money but I was paid to cover it anyway so let's LUCHAAARANNNN under the cut for the first part of my day of the dead celebration.
Mucha Lucha was a 2002 cartoon on Kids WB! a saturday morning block that was the highlight of my week in those days, having Pokemon (for a while anyway), Yu-Gi-Oh! , and the criminally underated Xiaolin Showdown, which is high on my pile of stuff I want to cover at some point in one form or another. So it's no shock i've seen all three seasons and the movie. The fact the show was replayed a LOT on Cartoon Network.
Mucha Lucha takes place in a world where just about everybody is a luchadore, fighting for honor, tradition, family and donuts. Those who aren't either can still wrestle well enough anyway or are part of a heelish wwf/wcw style wrestling faction. It follows Richochet (The underated as heck Carlos Alazraquai) as he lives his modern life at the FORMOST
WORLD RENNOWN
INTERNATIONAL
SCHOOL
OF
LUCHA!
With his best friend: The borderline heel Flea, played by the equally legendary Candi Milo, and the straight edge Buena Girl, played by future jasper Kimberly Brooks who i'm shocked was part of my childhood but is more than welcome. The show is loose continuityed comedy, being focused more on gags and nonsense than a deep continuity but working well with it. To get around WB's gunshyness about violence, most of the wrestling is done with cool, over the top finishing moves with Buena Girl turning into a bulldozer, Ricochet turning into a pulverizing pinball, and the flea.. well whatever his finisher is we don't know and i'm just peachy with that as i'm scarred for life enough as is.
The show's known for not only being one of the few Latino focused shows of the time, even more notable given neither of the creators are Latino yet both clearly put a lot of research into this and did hire actual mexicans like Gorge Gutierz of El Tigre and Book of Life Fame as part of the crew. So the result is fantastic and still held up suprisingly well.. well at least one ep did but we'll get to that. For now let's LUCHARANNNNNNN! with our first episode
Tumblr media
This is the main one I remembered. In fact I didn't recall it's sequel till I looked up one of the characters Wiki entry to see who played them.
This episode taught me about day of the dead and does a good job explaning it from the offset.. after the Flea, acting and smelling more like a rat, frames it as some kind of zombie apocalypse. The School's headmistress explains how it works instead, and this being a cartoon the dead REALLY do come back and visit once a year. Their also treated well, with our main undead being a bit of the jerk, but ultimately just a kid.
Since Ricochet's dog Masked Dog ate his homework...
Tumblr media
Not hyperbole this time, but i'm glad as any chane to see this masked good boy is alright with me, Richochet is sattled with showing around the School's vistor, Calvera Muerto. Given the kind of stuff our heroes get into around here i'm suprised it's just one.
At any rate our living dead boy is Calvera Muerto, also played by Kimberly Brooks though you coudln't tell, her range is just that impressive, a play on the spanish words for skeleton and dead, and on him being a calevera. Calevera's are often used in concert with day of the dead and are mexican style skeletons, usually with some cool markings on them.
Cal is nice enough, but like any 8 year old just wants to sit around and play video games. Having two nephews and having been that 8 year old, I can releate. So while Ricochet is bored, it's no problem.. till Calevera decides he dosen't want to leave despite the day being over and the guy having already shouted "choke on them choke on them!" So our heroes try to figure out how to get rid of this squatter since Ric's parents aren't home this episode. Traditional masks don't work since Cal's a postmodren calavera and has seen all three screams. Including the greatest horror they have to offer
youtube
This is nothing to Cal but all the payback to So Ric is forced to do what all wrestlers do when they have something important on the line: bet it on a match, which ends up being a looser leaves town match: Cal looses he goes home and stops eating Ric's doritos. He wins and Ric goes in his place. This is somehow not the highest stakes wrestling match i've ever seen. There's no child's custody papers on a poll or someone's mother on a forklift. it's just life and death.
Ric thinks he has it in the bag but with his intro having established Cal is a big fan of his.. that also means he has a counter set up.. specitcially turning a pinata in his head into a counter pulverizing pinball. So our heroes have to get creative. They remember chekov's lecture I forgot to mention: that once a spirit is full they have to go. So Buena Girl shoves a sweet bread in the console...
Tumblr media
And it does, with Ric finishing him off with a refreshing glass of lemonade. Cal leaves swearing he'll be back, our heros win and the episode closes out Meet The Muertos is a decent ride. It dosen't have a ton of jokes but the central one of a Calevera just deciding to spend it's day playing video games, which fits for what's an 8-10 year old child, is charming , it gets dia de los muertos as right as I can tell as a white idiot, and the final match is clever and engaging and stuck in my brain for quite some time. There's a reason this episode stuck. It's a decent episode in a fairly decent show... thanks for... oh right... .we have something else to cover don't we.
Tumblr media
Now I want to go on record here. Both episodes were my idea as Kev wanted to save some money and just do episodes and remembered the first one from as a kid. This one we'd both forgot.. till it was brought up again. There's a good reason to that. While i've seen MUCH worse in my time as reviewer, not even last month I had to deal with..t his
Tumblr media
That was a 2018 comic talking about periods. So to quote my faviorie pengy..
Tumblr media
I did this to myself and I have no one to blame but myself. I got PAID for doing this for myself but at what cost? AT WHAT COST...metaphorically we'll never know but in actuality.. 2.50.
This one is kind of dumb.. and not in the fun way the series can be like say, having disco stu be one of the teachers in all but name. No I mean this is about a horde of candy bandits who stalk the flea for no reason other than he won't give them his candy even though there are other towns to raid. Oh and in case you feel bad for the Flea he took the candy from children.
So Ric and Buena get suddenly thrust into the underworld because suddenly the veil is thin between worlds on Dia De Los Muertos which wasn't mentioned as a thing last time.
Tumblr media
So our heroes run into Calevera again , though this time it's all cool and he's willing to help them for no reaosn. And he dosen't betray them or anything he's just helping them
Tumblr media
He's just a diffrent character now. Speaking of diffrent let's talk about the elephant in the room: This episode's from season 3... and during season 3 they switched from Carlos to Jason. As a kid I took it maturely. He's an artists rendering
Tumblr media
Yeah look I love Jason. He's great at playing Max, does swell in other rolls, I like him a lot. But he was an AWFUL choice for this. I don't begrudge the creators for needing to replace Carlos: he apparently got too busy with Reno 911 and had to bow out. It happens. Voice actor changes are common. But Jason was an awful choice, making no attempt to sound like Carlos, and sounding all too lifeless in the roll. He tries.. but he just dosen't have the energy that made Carlos work as Ricochet. The fact they replaced a latino person with a white guy, one of the few actually latino voice actors in the show, does not help. I can't blame Jason for taking the check , he was just an utterly awful fit for the roll, being far too plain and straigh tlaced to fit the roll.
So the bandits end up liking Flea so he joins them. So now we know who all the bad guys are. Our heroes wnat the Flea back for reasons only known to the writers, and succesfully kidnap him, having a timer to get back before their trapped here forever. THey then fight the banditos of course, win, and the flea gets a stomach ache but learns nothing else. This episode is bad and it should feel bad. Even with that thing I sure did have to cover because of my own stupid ass finding it, I highly recommend this show. It was the first to use flash primarily , and while a bhit rough around the edges it has great character design, is fun to watch and worth checking out. Hopefully it'll stream on some service eventually though for now you can get it through amazon and apple. So see you in a bit for the next part and happy dia de los muertos.

Naruto
