Chapter 1: Lost Garden

Narrated by no one.

Narrator: Overnight, the flowers in Queen Lilith’s garden have all faded to gray.

Narrator: The confused gardener reports this to the Queen, who simply gazes out of the window, nonchalant.

Narrator: Her eyes twinkle lightly, like sparks in a mystic night.

Narrator: Outside the palace, festive spirits are high.

Narrator: Queen Lilith, however, prefers to remain indoors and has in fact delegated most tasks to Nightbane.

Nightbane: I’ll do my best, my beautiful master.

Narrator: Nightbane speaks, facing Lilith, yet his gaze lands beyond her graceful form.

Narrator: The one he considers his real “Master” lies in the distant abyss. Pure, beautiful, waiting for him to arrive...

Narrator: Waiting for him to open the gates to the abyss and bring her to Miraland.

Narrator: “Desire is the purest, the most beautiful thing in the world.”

Narrator: Lilith, too. She’s the most beautiful vessel of all, a vessel with an untainted soul.

Lilith: I’ve been feeling a bit dispirited these days, Nightbane. I’m not sure why...

Nightbane: Your fatigue only makes you all the more charming, my Queen.

Lilith: I’d like to rest.

Nightbane: You have one more guest to see before you may retire.

Lilith: But I’m tired...

???: Do you really not wish to see me?

Narrator: A face with striking features appears in front of the Queen.

Nightbane: Welcome back, Master.

Narrator: Queen Lilith lifts her head to see Nightbane gazing at the newcomer with eyes of devotion.

Narrator: The Goddess of Desire extends her hand and leans forward.

Goddess of Desire: Submit your soul to me, and you shall earn the love of all humans in the world. An everlasting, unwavering love.

Lilith: The love of all humans in the world, huh...

Goddess of Desire: So? Would you like that?

Lilith: I...

Narrator: The gray flowers continue to bloom, and the vines of desire creep silently into the garden.
