They are gentle creatures. And many are very endangered.” #don't get me wrong here; I love this scene a lot. LWJ's string technique is one of my favoyrite things. #We do get a fair amount of LWJ fighting but I always loved how the theme of strings comes into play. #There is actually a lot to unpack with LWJ being associate with 'strings'. #The musicianship: Of dedication and rigor in one's practice. #The tension between following along a path or composing your own way forwards (playing what has been written vs composing) #A string is a tightly coiled/taunt entity; The same tension that makes it sing so beautifully can be it's downfall if pushed too hard. #And as a non-musical string - something that binds. Be it to his sect and family or how he binds his fate to WWX - #LWJ cannot exist without his binds. It is not something which ties him down though. It keeps him together. #And he himself *is* a bind. He 'ties wwx down' in ways that are initially negatively viewed ('come to gusu' - feels like: come be trapped) #But later it is shown how (despite being introduced as a free spirit) WWX truly wants to be bound to something and someone. #Marriage is a bind he wants. He wants to be tied and grounded by LWJ. #It's starting to sound like innuendo. Let's call his fondness for being literally tied up smart thematic writing. #Finally. Sex scenes that are important to the plot and characters

One of the hardest things about watching LOTMS is seeing Gerard in crisis and seeing those around him who love him doing their best to look out for him. And the past year we’ve gotten to see that same love and support while they seem to be doing so much better coping with things even through the pandemic. It occurred to me recently that I've never shared the headcanons I had regarding Mario's strength in my version, so I thought I'd list them out in a single post for you guys.

Enjoy! :D

- Even without power-up, Mario is stronger and notably more resistant than average.

- This is mainly due to his high muscle density. He has a considerable body mass and is surprisingly heavy despite his short stature.

- He has a very healthy heart and incredible cardio. Sustained efforts that would leave others winded will affect him a lot less.

- His sturdiness gives him great equilibrium and stability, allowing him to keep his footing even on unsteady terrain.

- The man can lift objects up to five times his size and can pull tremendous loads across a short distance.

- He can carry the equivalent of a person's weight for long periods of time without feeling strained or tired.

- He makes labor look deceivingly easy to the point that others constantly underestimate how hard it truly is (and are always astounded when they try it for themselves, only to fail miserably).

- Mario doesn't workout outside of his daily tasks and activities. His job and naturally active disposition are his only form of exercise.

- He sometimes forgets how physically powerful he actually is, and has warped/broken quite a few things by accident.

- He is however extremely mindful of his capabilities when surrounded by others, and always significantly tempers himself when playing or interacting with friends.

- He never uses his strength to its full extent; both because he doesn't need to and because he fears causing harm otherwise.

- His intervention on a rampaging chain chomp was the greatest demonstration of brute force anyone had ever seen in the whole Kingdom. (See here for context)

- The exploit has made him famous among the guards and citizens alike, earning him the prestigious title of "Super" for the first time.

- While not typically one to show off, Mario loves entertaining people through various feats of athletic prowess.

- Out of all the things others seek his help for, he feels most useful when the favor requires either heavy lifting or manual expertise.

- Albeit very efficient when doing more dynamic chores, his prefered way of working is with his hands only.

- He can punch through almost any surface except literal stone and can bend even solid metal out of shape.

- A rush of adrenaline will cause his endurance to skyrocket, making him temporarily able to endure abject levels of pain and exhaustion.

- Despite those physical advantages, he values qualities of the mind and heart a lot more.

- When asked, Mario always says: "My brother and my friends give me strength. I owe them everything."

qfoolish is building up a bit of a streak of seeing other characters isolated, ostracized or alone and stepping in. just being there for them, someone they can trust if they so wish but at the core of it letting them know there's someone in their corner. qcellbit during his attempted infiltration into the federation, qjaiden after bobby's death when the Islanders turned against her for befriending cucurucho, Pepito alone without his parents, and now qtubbo.

He never tries to sway them or control their decisions, they don't owe him their time or trust, he's not there to judge them as right or wrong, good or evil, he's no saint himself. He's company, because for all qfoolish may struggle understanding with others anger or sadness, fear or whatever else, he knows loneliness.

Maybe it stems from solitude and equally great loyaly only an immortal can understand, or maybe it's his biology. He totem, he help after all. There's an underlying unspoken promise to it; you don't have to be alone, I will stand by you, you deserve a friend, I will not judge you for your worst.

And the worst part of it all is that in the end, one way or another, they leave him instead.

Season 2 episode 2 is almost nothing but misery and anguish #Helena by Nickle Creek does not quite fit the comic's vibe but it is absolutely a Xue Yang song so I linked it. #The change from “Helena don't walk away...(gentle)” to “HELENA. DON'T WALK AWAY (threat)” is fantastic. #And “Don't waste your pretty sympathy - I'll always be just fine”. Xue Yang core. #Okay now for the real meat. Disclaimer first: *I really like XY.* I think he's a great character. I think his actions consistently- #come from a place of deep trauma. MiWi AU, where both Karen and Joyce are divorced, Joyce and her boys recently moved into the flat across from where Karen, Nancy, Mike and Holly live. Karen baked some goodies for their new neighbours as a sweet welcome - and in hopes that maybe Mike becomes friends with the youngest Byers. Lo and behold, only a few days later Will knocks on her door and asks if she could show him how she made her cookies - his mum's birthday is the day after and she enjoyed her welcome gift so much!
