something about louise being perceived as thinking too highly of herself, but only appearing that way because she completely bases her self esteem on being lou's shadow, and lou's the one she thinks highly of. something about louise becoming so blinded by her own insecurities when she realizes lou talks to other people and has a life outside of her that she falls down a self loathing spiral and doesn't even realize lou is trying to sacrifice herself to save her life

Lou and Loise's last physical appearance (this panel of their feet)

if we want to be generous, then this was their last [mostly] full-bodied appearance, from the previous chapter

since then:

Ricky and Patrick became Star Bearers... and then un-became Star Bearers

Margaret's soot powers went out of control and nearly destroyed the Children's Wing (thanks Fucko McAsshole) and then died

During this, Patrick got engaged to Margaret. That lasted long.

Patrick also fully realized his feelings for Emilico. I guess. She popped out of the sky. I think it was symbolic, but maybe Emilico is actually god and Patrick became religious? Not sure. One of those.

Maggie got murdered (thanks Fucko McAsshole)

Fucko McAsshole went MIA again because that's all he does. Kills someone then disappears.

Douglas/Doug, Evelyn/Eve, and Oliver/Olly became Star Bearers

Kate somehow managed to rope Douglas into her faction (temporarily?)

a new class of Shadows was introduced - and they seem to be their own little faction

we got more of Emilico's backstory

Sara/Mia are officially being used by Edward now instead of him just humouring them and their hatred of Kate/Emilico

Sara/Mia and Edward probably overheard Emilico talking about undoing the brainwashing of the new class (that had already had their brainwashing undone) so there's definitely more cause for him to be hands-on in the Children's Wing

the new debut started, and Candy has basically cemented herself as a new villain/rival character

Sara/Mia have been placed on patrol to watch over Kate's every move [during the events of the debut?]

the new debut class has now begun fighting the new Star Bearers

that's a lot of stuff to happen since this arc was set-up and... not really revisited since

so Lou and Louise are definitely gone right?

I really like how they used Louise soot power of manipulating expressions to make Lou close her mouth, making her unable to recite the chant to brainwash Louise. Finally a good use of mental soot power!

i love somato’s writing very very dearly, but if lou and louise die offscreen i’m going to be pissed. they’re incredibly important characters, i hope that if the plan is to kill them off they at least get the dignity of an onscreen death.

So, I see two possibilities with why Louise can't stop Lou from chanting in the chapter 189 RAWs

One: This is just an effect of Lewis's soot power, he's overriding Louise's control

Two: The fragment of grace is making Louise unable to control her own soot power just like with Margaret (albeit to a much lesser degree)

I’m wondering what people think of Louise becoming some kind of antagonist?

While I don’t know how probable that is of happening it’d be very interesting to see. I can imagine the adults inviting her to 1. Break up Kate’s team and 2. To take advantage of her soot power which contains the ability to control not just her own living doll but other living dolls. For all we know, her soot power could be very similar to the Lord Great Grandfather’s in terms of being able to put the living dolls under control and The Great Grandfathers strength won’t last forever and Louise may well be the solution to that with the capabilities to guide the loyalty of the dolls.

This next bit is really far fetched but bear with me 😭

Kate finally reaching the adults wing after a few years with the strength to take down the leaders of Shadows House and free the children but instead of coming up against the Great Grandfather she comes up against Louise who has taken his place.

Louise may be susceptible to the perks and power being an adult offers- her obsession with beauty; especially Lou’s could make her willing to undergo unification as she’ll gain Lous appearance for herself.

(Sorry for lack of posts over the last few months I’ve been really busy ;-;)

when it comes to the possibility of lou and louise having already unified (voluntarily or not) by the time kate and the rescue gang find them, a detail that doesn't leave my mind is that lou is unbrainwashed

if we go with the theory that the brainwashing is what ensures a living doll's "death of personality" post unification, this opens some new options

they could fail unification, and we'd lose both of them

we could get a two people in one body situation

we could get a reverse unification, with lou as the remaining personality and louise being the one we lose

𝐌𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐨 𝐌𝐨𝐫𝐢: 𝐖𝐡𝐨 𝐰𝐚𝐬 𝐬𝐡𝐞?

Emilyko and her friends had regained much of their memories after stopping drinking coffee for a long while, they're still trying to recollect deeper memories though, it's still a bit hard to try to remember it all since they were still feeling the side effects despite the brainwashing had been halted for them

Tonight, they're at the rooftop, watching the beautiful starry sky together and reminiscing the past together

Besides Emilyko who they met just before the Selection, the rest of the Living Dolls group knew eachother for a long time as they grew up together in the same village

Therefore they're trying to recollect the deeply repressed memories of a long time ago, back when they were still small children

"It's so hard to remember": Ricky said as he tried to remember just a bit of his childhood, he had been trying in the short free time he got for a while now

"Yeah, indeed, the Coffee we drank at the Selection was quite strong since it basically locked up our memories of the past": Shaun said, honestly a bit exhausted cause trying to remember was a hard mental exercise to him

"Miss Louise is also urging me to remember cause she wanted to know how cute I was as a child": Lou said nonchalantly and calmly

"That's such a Miss Louise thing!": Emilyko said smiling, she was happy Lou's Shadow mistress was very encouraging of her despite the odds

After a time of trying to remember and honestly they didn't get really positive results. Ram spoke up, she got an idea:

"How about we try to remember something or someone we all were familiar with before? It can help with the concentration"

"Oh, that can help": Shaun said, he thinks it's a good idea

"But how can we actually do that? I mean it's already hard to try to remember, remember an exact thing can't be easier": Ricky said, he already felt things are getting more difficult

"How about we all clear our mind and think of a few things that are specific? If we shared a childhood together before, we also shared or know something together. Like a children's game or a song?"

Lou said, she was making a plausible solution to their memories problem

"Yes, we can try that out!": Shaun said, he thinks that's a good way to regain their childhood memories

Meanwhile, Emilyko was nervous with a smile on her face, everyone else was trying very hard to remember their childhood, while she couldn't join in cause she didn't share one with them. Nonetheless, Emilyko is here as their support: "You can do this everyone!"

"SHH!!!"

"Oh right, sorry we have to be quiet out here"

"Okay now, we should focus on our past" Shaun said, guiding everyone to focus on their objective

"Let's see....."

"How about a song? Children do learn songs and they're easy to sing!": Ricky immediately got a way

"Like a nursery rhyme?"

"Yes!"

"That could work"

"But what song can it be?": Lou wondered

"How about thinking of words? Nursery rhymes do have certain words in the lyrics that can easily help a child to remember it" Ram said of a mind trick

"Let's try that out!"

"Think of a word. I'll try first, Cat!": Shaun said

"Flower!": Ricky said

"Cotton?": Ram said

"Bunny": Lou said

"None really came to mind" Shaun said, seemingly a bit upset and tired

Then Emilyko chimed in:

"Can I have a try?"

"Sure, you can try, it could help": Shaun said, willing to take any help now

"Well I saw a butterfly, so Butterfly!"

Everyone else stopped in their tracks and proceeded to stare at Emilyko, Emilyko was quite nervous to see everyone's eyes looking at her

"Is something wrong?" Emilyko asked nervously, wanting to break the sudden tension

"No, Emilyko, but what you said was..."

"Butterfly "

" A Butterfly is sweet and kind "

" But to be so require a time "

" First it must eat and then it grows "

" Through a long time of throes and strife "

" A cocoon comes to wrap it up "

" Time flies and then it comes "

" A Butterfly, so beautiful "

The Dolls unknowingly broke into rhymes. What came over them? Each one suddenly sang a line

Emilyko was suprised to see everyone suddenly break out into singing and the Song. Now she wants to learn about it

"Wow, that's a nice song. Where did you guys learn it?!!"

"We don't, we aren't really-"

Sudden flashes of a long forgotten past appeared in their minds, they can't remember clearly what it was or when it was

They can't seem to piece together where they learned that song or from whom

They do remember it was a fun, sweet rhyme

It was a fond memory

And then

They can roughly see it

A kind, gentle smile

Caring gaze who look at them with only fondness in her eyes

A beautiful woman with tresses tinted pink and looks as if it belongs to an angel

The one who taught them the nursery rhyme

" Teacher? "

Back in the Adult's Building, Roise was sitting in front of her window, humming a familiar tune, remembering good times

" A Butterfly, so beautiful "
