"I think that he cares about them both in a way that his dream is for them to have this domestic human existence—just at night. He’ll be a vampire vegetarian but he’s fine with them doing what they want to do. I think he wants a domestic setting and he wants to ultimately fill in the void that has been left by his family [...]
Obviously, he doesn’t see Lestat as a brother, but Lestat fills a similar space to what Paul (Steven Norfleet) did, in the sense that Paul really saw Louis. Paul really knew Louis and he could see through his bravado and Lestat is the same. He sees him for who he is and what he is and Grace (Kalyne Coleman) was the most important relationship that Louis ever had. So of course he’s trying to replicate his dynamic with Grace with Claudia, but she’s nothing like him. And she’s nothing like Grace. She’s her own thing."
"I wouldn’t say he wants to kill Lestat. I think he understands the necessity of it. I think he sees the only way that they’re going to be free. I think it’s less about the want to kill him and more about keeping Claudia safe"  — Jacob Anderson for Vanity Fair.

Louis being willing to let Claudia go is such a testament to his love for her. He learned that holding on too tight only breeds resentment. Also that she is her own person, with her own set of feelings and can no longer be used as a distraction for his feelings (or Lestat’s ire). We see this when he calls her “sis”, acknowledging her autonomy as a person. Though it’s clear to both of them that he’ll never stop being her father. Her protector. Her knight.
He lets her go though it means he will have to live with loneliness her absence and Lestat’s continued dalliance with Antionette creates. A part of him wasn’t so sure he could even go through that a second time:
 “I teased the sun that night in Jackson Square. Thought about the walking cane and pile of ash they'd find in the morning. But Paul had forever ruined Grace's wedding night, and I would not do the same to Claudia on the anniversary of her escape. If I was to join Dante's World of the Self-Murdered, it would be another night.”
But he knows the price of that choice and won’t have another sister pay it. Instead he goes on to endure the life he’s accepted with Lestat out of fear of change, with only the comfort of knowing he put her happiness first pushing him forward and that has to be enough.

Some fans: Louis sees Claudia only as a daughter.

If you see this as pure parenting, I think you better block me and keep scrolling. I am so not looking for a debate on this, lol.

@blumhouses said -> I was someone I don't want to be anymore. I've changed
The truth was, it didn't matter to Louis how wrong Lestat or Claudia were. He loved them with the whole of himself, and he would continue to do so regardless of their behavior. Even if it lay in stark contrast to his own. He looked at Claudia with his green eyes full of affection and covered her hands with his own. "While I'm delighted to hear that you've decided to lead a different life now that you have the chance, I want to remind you that I will always love you. Even at your worst."

The implication that Louis and Claudia were lovers is a tiny bit troubling to be honest…

Interview with the vampire (2022) is basically like:
Louis: I hate who I’ve become, and am in agony all the time.
Lestat: but have you considered you’re the hottest piece of ass to exist ever.

It’s the way Louis will not stop choosing Lestat over Claudia. Even the midst of the ultimate betrayal 💀

Maybe I'm imagining or it was in my dream, but it suddenly struck me: isn't there a moment in the book where either vampire!Claudia makes Louis drink her blood from her wrist or he makes her drink his (bc maybe one of them is injured?)? Gotta search for that. Not sure.
Also, I'm, like, 3-4 hours away from finishing the first book & I seriously want to beat Armand with a baseball bat. Louis? I want to slap him so hard that he'd awake from Armand's charm. So he would believe Claudia that was always by his side, so he would not believe the most powerful, the oldest vampire that wants Louis for himself and Claudia to die.
It infuriates me. It makes me physically sick. You ungrateful bastard.

@atrickrtreat:
She knew he was cautious and one couldn't blame him but she did feel that if he felt he couldn't live without Willow then perhaps he would reconsider and if not, then perhaps Claudia would do it for him. Especially since she was going to learn. "I feel I would have better luck with Mother Akasha and telling me than I would Lestat, I don't think he's rather keen on Eddie. As for happiness, yes, I think it's about time we all look for our own happiness. It's what we deserve."
Louis was not quite the hopeless hapless romantic that Lestat was and, it seemed, Claudia as well — just like her 'father'. He was uncertain still if there would ever be a person he felt he could not live without so much so that he would curse them to a life like this. Hearing her call Akasha mother made him tense just a bit. He did not hold her in the same reverence. "Mm... yes, she would know what she is doing as well, wouldn't she?" He asked, not wanting to linger on the topic of the first of the vampires for it left him both confused and conflicted. "Why would he not be keen on Eddie?"
