Thoughts on the Finale Double-Header

Because I have so many, I want to corral them into one post, instead of the fifty or sixty I could make.

I'm genuinely surprised by all of the posts concerning dislike - and even hatred - for the finale. Not calling anyone out! Everyone gets their own opinion, and I stick by that, 100%! While I feel that it could have benefitted from another episode or two, or even another week for the final episode (which was surely impossible due to the Season Opener of the NFL next Thursday night), I loved this season. I think it contains some of their best stuff yet. The inter-character growth has felt fantastic, everyone getting closer, even without openly admitting it in audible words. Every episode made me feel something positive, which was nice. (See my notes on Mayans M.C. for how I react to negative feelings... Heh...).

I'll dive into the Nandermo first, because why not? This entire season has been about hiding betrayal, which has been just delicious. Like a group of friends who uncover infidelity amongst a long-married couple, unsure of what to do, but not wanting either party to get hurt. (They knew the guilty one had it coming, but they still tried to keep things hush-hush). I loved that Nandor knew not only what would draw Guillermo out of hiding, but he knew where to find Mama de la Cruz. (Because, let's face it, he was never going to hurt the woman. Fucker nearly got staked because he was so distracted). The intensity of Nandor's forgiveness, for lack of a better term, the whole time they had that stake between them? MM. It was better than makeup sex, because it was heartfelt, and genuine, if a little raw and drowning in hurt. Nandor getting everyone together for his turning-back ceremony? Happily staking the fucking guy who turned his familiar? Knowing Guillermo wasn't ready. The glasses. The effort. The love. That is the kind of Nandermo I enjoy seeing. Would I be upset if they (eventually) got to something romantic? Of course not. But now is just... not the right time. There is so much healing to be done now. Regaining of trust. Rebuilding of bonds. A romantic relationship right now would be the equivalent of a divided couple having a baby to save their union. It wouldn't look good, and it would be a set up for utter failure.

Speaking of that damned ceremony. The fact that everyone came together to save that boy's bacon? Come on. Come on. That even Baron Afanas and Goëjlrm turned up? Even if that part was just for sake of realism, they could have easily said no. They all give a damn about Guillermo, and that was wonderful to finally see. Words are a dime a dozen. Actions are where the proof hides.

FURTHERMORE, everyone checking in on Guillermo made me so happy. The kids coming to see him. Nadja scolding him for speaking to Derek in a manner ill-befitting his station. Even if they were mostly shit at it, aside from the Guide and the Kids, they kept a close eye on him, and that warmed my heart.

"We have a babysitter at home." That made me simultaneously AWWW!!!!, and wonder whether the poor sitter was going to be alive by the time they returned. Y'all know I'm all for their domesticity, so that little snippet was just perfect for me.

While Derek got the short end of the stake, he now has what he has always wanted. Friends. Community. Somewhere to belong. It's just a terrible, ugly way to have to get it.

I want so much more for the Guide. I do. I do agree that they all collectively suck nut at being good to anyone, more than 90% of the time, but that chick was well within her mind to pull her stunts at the Manor. I really do wish we could have had a twelve-episode season, at the very least. Both of last night's episodes deserved to be two-parters. Mm.

Good on Nadja, too, turning the noisy neighbors into an opportunity. She's an enterprising, resourceful broad, that one. Just love her. <3.

I'm still fucking floored, by the way. If someone had asked Nandor from the fucking beginning, this whole season could have been avoided. Granted, yes, that was the point, but it deserves the spotlight for a moment or two. He's such a dumbass, but he knows his vampiric shit. And really, so much good came out of everyone else being dopey as shit for a change. Guillermo learned a valuable lesson. New little lives were created. (R.I.P. to the one those that were ended). The secret surely broke up the monotony for the household for a little while. And, of course, my personal favourite... There are new parents in New Jersey! I'm so giddy for that one!

Liked it or hated it, one thing is for sure. Season Six is going to bring so much inner conflict for Guillermo, and a change of dynamic amongst the household, that I just can't wait!

His jacket was on the floor, where he had thrown it a couple hours ago. The sleeves of his shirt were rolled up as his forearms rested on his knees. He had his eyes shut and his back against the wall. His breathing was erratic and faltering, incapable of calming down. The powerful aura that he used to have, had completely disappeared, leaving him broken and defeated, looking as terrible as he felt inside. Whoever knew him beforehand and saw him at this moment, would doubt that that was actually the same Adrian Raines.

His hands had remnants of dried blood, the same that had coloured his white shirt, red. His body was still healing some wounds, cuts and a few broken bones, and bruises as result of their confrontation with Gaius. Every time he breathed, he felt a stinging pain in his chest but he couldn't care less. He had decided to not move from there no matter how long it took. Maybe she woke up before the expected, scared or disorientated. Maybe her bloodkeeper condition made it different for her and she needed some kind of help. Or maybe… Simply, he just couldn't leave her side. Whatever the reason was, he had decided to stay there, in Raines Corp.’s basement, near the sarcophagus in which, and he desperately hoped it was the case, Amy's body was changing, slowly transforming into a vampire.

As a couple of tears slipped on his cheeks, passing through the bloody print that her hand left on his skin as he held her, he couldn't avoid thinking how afraid he was of losing her, to face the world without her. Amy had saved them, after he had promised her he would protect her, she sacrificed herself for them. For him.

He squeezed his eyes tightly, letting his head fall back, against the wall. No matter how hard he tried, the images kept replaying over and over in his mind, in a horrible and constant loop. Amy taking the branch, getting close to Gaius. Her pained gasp as the sword went through her chest and emerged from her back. How his throat hurt from yelling her name, incapable of doing anything else but watch. The fire in her eyes, using the last of her strength to stab Gaius as her blood slipped down in the hilt of the sword onto Gaius' hand. Her little smile before she noticed that her knees gave up and hit the floor first as the rest of her body fell down. How quickly her skin became pale and cold as he held her, knowing that there was only one thing that could save her. How, mortally injured, she cupped his face, almost happy that they had 'won', even if right now it felt like he was about to lose everything that was important to him.

"Adrian?" His eyes flushed open, seeing Lily down the stairs. Her eyes puffy and bloodshot, all her usual energy and almost childlike happy mood, had disappeared. For the first time since he had met her, she seemed like an elderly woman who had lost against life itself. She sat beside him and offered him a pack of blood and what seemed to be a clean shirt.

"Thank you Lily, but I don't need it."

"You do." She gave him a broken look. "You think she would be okay seeing you still hurt?" She placed both things between them. "You are important to her, Adrian. She did what she did to save us. To save you."

"She shouldn't have done it! Now she's--" His voice abruptly cut, incapable to even put into words his fears and torments.

"I know." Lilly replied, distractedly fiddling with one of her rings. "But she's brave and her heart is bigger than anyone I've ever met." A pained smile lifted her lips a little. "Amy would never watch us die if she could avoid it. You know that." She fixed her stare on him, her voice a bit shattered. "Exactly like you or any of us would have done for her if the rolls were reversed."

"But I couldn't." His mind returned to the night before, when they had sleep holding each other. It felt so far away. "I promised her I would protect her no matter what and I couldn't. I failed her." It was the first time they shared this kind of conversation and time alone. It was obvious that Lily had a stronger relationship with Jax, like Adrian had with Kamilah. But, even if they were worried and sad too, right now, the pain Lily and Adrian were feeling, was different from theirs and had brought them together. "I should never have allowed her to get involved in this." To his surprise, she giggled.

"If you think you could have told her what to do, I'm sorry but you don't know her as well as you think." Adrian chuckled a bit alongside her. Lily was absolutely right about that.

"Did she ever tell you about the first time she saw me transformed, on her first day of work?" He wasn't sure why he asked her that. Probably because it was the moment that he realized that she would be special for him, even if he didn't know how much.

"Only a few parts."

"In almost 300 years a lot of people had learned the way she did about all this. And most… If not all of them, begged to forget, to return to their old lives." Despite himself, he smiled at the memory. "Amy… She just stood there. For a little while, she got scared, of course, but… She didn't run or scream. She started to ask me questions, curious, looking at me the exact same way she did all that day. Before her eyes, I was still… Me. She even joked about Nicole being dramatic during the feeding." He let out a sorrowful and shaking sigh. "I took her to Priya's fashion show and she told the security that she was my partner instead of my assistant." They both softly laughed.

"I think she had a crush with you almost instantly." Lily crossed her legs under her. "That night, before returning to the office, we chatted a bit. When I asked her about how you were, her answer was, and I'm quoting here 'super hot'." She said smiling at the same time that her palm dried her cheeks. "She was so happy to be able to stay in New York."

"It was an absolutely mutual feeling." Adrian passed his fingers through his hair, feeling an ache in his heart as his memory returned to the first time he saw her, that she had given him one of her beautiful smiles. "That night, she cut her hand with a glass. All the vampires around were drawn towards the fresh blood, to her."

"I know the feeling." She sadly murmured. "She mentioned that part actually, that you helped her and stood in front of her."

"I will never forget how she hugged me from behind. How when she was scared, she trusted me." His eyes started to burn with fresh tears. "She not only didn't allow the debriefing, but also convinced me to show her around the library." The tears ran free on his face and he didn't try to stop them. "She's brave and stubborn in the most wonderful way."

"I think you are not aware how important you are to her." They stood in silence, lost in their thoughts and memories until Lily talked again. "Amy had always tried to watch over you."

"I know she did." His voice was a low raspy whisper.

"Actually, I suspect you don't know how much." After a pause she sighed, as she had made a decision. "Amy is going to kill me for this…" She muttered. "There's something that she never told you." Adrian noticed the subtle change in her voice. "But I'm convinced you deserve to know." She took a deep breath, closing her eyes for a moment. "After the trial where Vega framed you and they declared you guilty, everybody started to discuss how to divide your stuff and..." She stood in silence, her eyes filled with doubts.

"What happened, Lily?" He shifted his gaze to look at her, taking his attention from the coffin for the first time.

"Priya grabbed her from the throat and 'claimed' her for herself." Lily shivered a bit beside him as his blood seemed to boil and freeze at the same time. "She said that she wanted to break her. And after forcing her to watch you die, maybe kill her."

"Was she hurt?" Adrian frowned, clearly disturbed as a new wave of anguish went through his factions. He was conscious of all the times she had been in danger because of him but discovering that there were occasions that she hadn't told him to protect him, it felt like a powerful hand grabbed his heart and squeezed it slowly and extremely painfully.

"Kamilah stopped her almost immediately but she had a bruise around the neck for a couple weeks. She covered it with makeup."

"Amy never told me about that." He lowered his face, both of his hands holding it, seeming overwhelmed as his fingers ran through his hair.

"I know. She didn't want you to know. She was sure you would feel guilty even when it wasn't your fault." Lily stared at his eyes, he never had seen her gaze so intense. "What do you think was the first thing she said, when we left the temple after that?" Adrian stared at her back, unsure if he wanted to know. "She asked Kamilah how we could help you, to save you." Lily sadly smiled at him. "Even back then she didn't wanted to lose you. That's why she did what she did tonight."

He remembered the deep sadness and concern he saw in her when their eyes locked to each other as he was dragged away. The softness of her hand and words when she had found him in The Baron's dungeon. The happiness he felt when he saw her in front of him. "I didn't want to lose her either." He forced himself to say the words that couldn't stop repeating internally. "I don't want to lose her. I can't. I need her, she just can't di--" The lump in his throat cutted his voice, incapable of ending the last word.

"I don't know if she had heard you but… If it's worth something, I know she loves you too, Adrian." Lily murmured, her voice gruff. "You are the most important person to her." Her hands dried her cheeks. "Well, the second more important at least. Best friends and roommates rights, you know."

"I'll take it." Adrian smiled before his face fell again. "And it's worth more than you can imagine." His eyes fixed again on the sarcophagus. "I just hope to have the chance to tell it to her like she deserves. And maybe hear her say it back."

Lily took off her glasses and rubbed her eyes, standing up. "Are you sure you want to stay here?"

"Yes." She nodded and headed to the stairs. "Lily." He called her and she stopped to watch him. "Thank you. For the blood and everything afterwards."

"You are welcome, Adrian." She leaned against the wall for a minute. "I just know how sad she would be seeing you like this." She stared at the sarcophagus one last time, thinking the same thing that has been in Adrian's mind the last two hours and couldn't dare to face it: how silent the coffin was, without even a faint heartbeat or shallow breathing coming from it. Almost like it was empty.

On Wu’s backstory:

Wu is a character many people find annoying, but I enjoy. His backstory is vague at best. Here is what we know.

Wu is the grand nephew of Hou-Ting. He is the only heir to the throne.

At some point he moved to Republic City. Commentary implies that he was there doing a degree

At some point Mako was made his bodyguard. Commentary implies that Mako was his bodyguard for the three years.

The canon status of all commentary is debatable. As far as I see it, the show is true canon, the only reason we take the commentary as canon is because nothing contradicts it, but it is particularly substantial.

So, let’s analyse this backstory. This is all my personal opinion and headcanon and based upon what I find interesting and what fits Wu’s character as we see it in Book 4.

Was there a Royal Family massacre and is Wu traumatised?

We don’t see any other family members than Hou-Ting in Book 3. In Book 4, we are introduced to Wu, and only Wu. He is the heir to the throne.

At the end of book 3, Ba Sing Se falls to a the angry citizens of Ba Sing Se. We do see them enter the palace. They are seen looting and burning.

So, did this mob murder the rest of the Royal Family? Wu is the only heir. He is the grand nephew. This implies both his parents and grandparents are dead. What happened to them? They all must have died fairly young if Wu is the heir as a twenty something in Book 4.

I believe this is the basis of the ‘royal family massacre’ argument. Wu is too young to be the only heir to the throne. And the mob were angry. Therefore, the heirs above Wu were killed.

Now to be clear: the real reason Wu is a young heir is because Bryke wanted someone young for Mako to bounce off of. He’s around the same age as Mako but has a completely different life to him. Wu is not serious whereas Mako is. Wu is flippant and Mako is serious. Wu is extroverted and Mako is introverted. Wu is rich, Mako is not. This contrast is more fun if they’re the same age.

I say this because I think it’s clear that Wu was created with no clear trauma in mind. Wu does not act especially scared, or traumatised by the past. He is cautious and scared of hearing of Hou-Ting’s death, but acts in a comedic manner (fake strangling sounds) but then resumes a proper mourning action (may she rest in piece). Wu acts fairly silly throughout the series, enjoys the attention from fans, and even towards the end he creates a plan that he hopes will gain him attention from Korra. Wu is breezy and flippant and shallow, only really maturing towards the end and appears to be genuinely committed to dismantling the monarchy.

The trauma seen in fan works is a result of fan expansions, and personally I don’t really see it having a strong basis in the show. Wu is never really shown to be scared, or withdrawn at any points. Wu is never shown to be angry at the local populace who killed his family, as although Wu is shallow he never treats anyone badly. So is he masking? That’s totally up to your interpretation. Wu could be burying all his negative emotions and is acting out to hide his trauma. This is perfectly plausible. Personally, the lack of anger is what slightly damns this interpretation for me, I’m sure he’d show something.

Also I don’t think Wu not being fully prepared to take the throne is unreasonable— it makes sense if he was going to finish his education before starting public duties and gaining more political experience. And he could have made public experiences but still be fairly shallow. It’s implied that the Dai Li have a great degree of power so Wu not taking things that seriously or having a lot of experience is perfectly reasonable: it’s not needed for him to do so. So no, I don’t think Wu being the primary heir to the throne has to be sudden and unexpected because Wu isn’t very well prepared or serious.

How Old is Wu?

If you take the idea that he was in Republic City doing a degree when Hou-Ting was murdered, he could have been eighteen at the time, and twenty-one by the time of Book 4. He could be older. He could have started the degree at a younger age however, so he could even be nineteen at the start of Book 4.

If you ignore the idea that Wu was in Republic City prior to Book 3, and only came to Republic City to be safe after the Queen’s death, he could he even younger, potentially around eighteen in Book 4 if you HC him as young, but he could also still be older than Mako. Basically nothing confirmed, but I think it does depend on how seriously you take the commentary about the degree.

Have Wu and Mako worked together for three years?

This is going to be my strongest opinion, but I don’t think their relationship makes much sense if they’ve known eachother for three years.

I feel like this was meant to explain what Mako was doing for three years, but Mako doing his job as a detective was enough. So I don’t think it was needed.

In the episode where Wu’s coronation is ruined, Wu has a breakdown. Mako asks why he even wants to be King. He apologises, and Wu says that ‘no-one ever spoke to him like that’.

No-one has ever spoken to Wu like, even Mako. For three years? I don’t buy it. Mako is professional but he does talk back to Wu. Mako doesn’t think Wu is deserving of power just because he was born into it. I can’t believe Mako would his tongue on Wu for three years.

Also, I think Wu and Mako have a nice arc over Book 4. They get to know each-other more deeply. Mako sees the more mature side of Wu. I just don’t get the impression that they really knew each other that well beforehand, and I think you’d learn more about each other if you were together 24/7 for three years.

Obviously a lot of fan works expand on this and make the whole three years together thing make sense (by making them fuck usually and then having ensuing drama), but my critique is that I often think this over explains Wu’s character and ignores the very real shallowness Wu does show in early Book 4 by making It doesn’t meant I don’t love these fics, but I just don’t really ever reconcile them with the version of Wu we see in the show.

What I headcanon.

Again, this is literally just headcanon, and the events have no real confirmation in canon, it’s just what I think is both interesting and what I think matches with Wu’s characterisation in the show, whilst also giving him a backstory and more depth.

Wu’s grandparent and heir to the throne had one child, who became Wu’s father. This grandparent and heir dies. This grandparent dies young.

Wu’s parent’s were married. It was a political arrangement as Wu’s mother was from a rich family. Their marriage is strained. They have one child, Wu and don’t really talk to eachother much. Wu’s Dad dies young from partying too hard. Wu is left the only heir.

Wu’s mother remarries a wealthy baron or something. Because of not doing widowhood properly she is not welcome at the palace and moves away from Ba Sing Se. She and Wu have a strained relationship, since she never really wanted Wu in the first place. They sometimes exchange letters. (This could be swapped for his father and his mother was the heir but honestly I just wanted a strained relationship with a maternal figure. She got her happy ending but not with Wu).

Wu and Queen Hou-Ting have a very strained relationship as Hou Ting considers him weak, and despises animals which Wu loves.

Wu ends up with no real close familial relationship and is used to never really caring about anything. He is very isolated and is mostly raised by Dai-Li appointed carers.

At twenty ish Wu decides he wants out and asks to study in Republic City. The Queen is against this but Wu is insistent and she sees it as an excuse to get him out of her hair.

Wu moved to Republic City. After the fall of the walls, the Dai Li are in disarray as much of the leadership flees the city. Wu was previously appointed Dai Li bodyguards but Republic City officials replace them with city appointed bodyguards instead to maintain order. Unsure of how to proceed with Wu, Raiko and the other leaders agree that Wu shall complete his degree whilst Kuvira restores order. Wu is rarely included in meetings that decide the Earth Kingdom’s policy because they don’t like him and everyone just accepts he will be a King supported by his advisors and won’t rule himself.

Wu is of course horrified but he has a lack of personal stake in the death of his great aunt other than the realisation that he is now under a lot of pressure, which Wu mostly just ignores.

Wu completed his degree. After this, he begins to move into the public sphere and begins to make public appearances. Instead of a rotating team of bodyguards he requests a personal one, Mako, because he saw him a newspaper and thought he was hot really cool. This happens around six months before Republic City.

Mako treats Wu as a job, but the events of Book 4 eventually push them to become better friends and get to know eachother. Wu matures What happens next is either comics canon or my own ideas.

This is complete headcanon and I expect some people disagree! Hope it makes sense.

Lizzy’s Book Recs

After posting a little book recommendation a few weeks ago, I received a few comments about some more recs. And seeing as I am currently reading book 70 for the year, I thought it could be fun. So this is what this post is. These are all contemporary romances (I'm not a historical fiction fan) and will be either new adult or adult romance. Sorry, but I’m too old for young adult these days as teenagers piss me off.  

These will be placed into categories of my favourite tropes. 

Enemies to Lovers:

The Hating Game by Sally Thorne. This has to be hands down the best enemies to lovers story I have ever read. This is about Lucy and Josh, both assistants at a publishing company. She’s happy, he’s grumpy. They are colleagues and enemies, they fight all the time. But the sexual tension is off the charts. The best slow burn book I’ve ever read and definitely worth the wait. (plus this is going to be a movie with Lucy Hale and Robbie Amell, perfect right?)

Vicious by LJ Shen. Baron (Vicious) Spencer is an asshole. He’s a rich, spoilt brat with one love. Emilia Leblanc. He wanted her when they were teenagers, but she was with his best friend. He is a bully, mean and a horrible person to her and forces her to leave the state when he doesn’t get what he wants. Years later, he needs her help. She begins to work for him and discovers the act he puts on to hide his true scars. This book is sexy and dark. Not a cute fluffy story. But a good read (just don’t take it too seriously)

Into The Wild by KA Tucker. A big-city girl from Toronto goes to Alaska to visit her sick dad she hasn’t seen in over 25 years. Calla runs into cocky bush pilot Jonah. He hates her spoilt brat personality, she can't stand his cocky attitude. Hate turns to like, and eventually. Love. This is one of the best books I’ve read this year. This story is sad, funny, sweet and romantic. And has the best banter ever. (plus there is a sequel) Eeek. 

Red, White and Royal Blue by Casey McQuisten. What happens when the prince of England and the first son of the USA have a secret gay love affair? This book, I love! They hate each other, then they become friends then they become lovers. The end. Perfect book. Just perfect. 

Hate They Neighbour by S.M Soto. Sexy bad boy jerk Roman gets a new neighbour with sweet Olivia. She wants to be his friend, he is nothing but mean to her. She is recovering from a broken heart, he is trying to keep his family together. This is HOT HOT HOT! This has one of the sexist scenes I’ve ever read in a while including a lollipop. Trust me, this is soo good. 

Friends to Lovers

Beard Science by Penny Reid. Jennifer is sick of being under her parent's thumb so she in lists the town’s evil genius, Cletus to help her and find her husband. I love this book, Jennifer is sweet. Cletus is not. He is brash and no-nonsense but I love him. Their love story is so sweet and turns from friends to lovers in such a sweet way it will have you awwing in no time. 

Josh and Hazel’s Guide to Not Dating by Christina Lauren. This is another fav. While I love a bad boy, sometimes the good guys do finish first. This is a friend to lovers story. Quirky Hazel and newly single Josh decided to set each other up on dates. When they are a series of disasters one after the other, and a drunken night later. They end up in bed together and discover love was in front of them the whole time. This is a cute and heartwarming story. You can never go wrong with a book by Christina Lauren. 

Strangers to Lovers

Beard in Mind by Penny Reid. OMG! You can not get me to shut up about Penny Reid and her Winston series. It is the best series I have ever read. Every book is perfect. But this one here is my favourite of the series. This is a story about kind-hearted Beau Winston. He meets new mechanic at his garage Shelly Sullivan. She is bold, brash and has no filter. While Beau is used to women being charmed by his smile and good looks. Shelly is different. This book deals with some sensitive issues so if you get trigged by self-harm and real conversations about mental health. Stay clear. But this book is so good. Beau is the best book boyfriend ever. And I love him. (shoutout to Truth of Beard. Duane is Beau’s twin and his love story is so good)

Sweet Filthy Boy by Christina Lauren. I know, I’ve got another Christina Lauren book on the list, but I just love them. And this book is one of their best! Mia and her friends go to Vegas after college. They get drunk, meet some handsome men and oopps, they get married. Mia wakes up married to sexy Frenchman Ansel. He invites her to Paris for the summer. And she accepts. After a horrible start, they begin to learn more about each other and fall for each other in the city of love. This book is so hot, and while Ansel may be the sweetest he has a dirty mouth and a few secrets in his closet. (This is part of a series involving Mia and her 2 other friends that also got married in Vegas. They are worth a read, but this one is my favourite)

Second Chance Romance

You Deserve Each Other by Sarah Hogle. I wasn't sure where to put this one because it is a second chance romance and enemies to lovers. Anyway, this story is about Naomi and Nicholas. They are engaged but hate each other. Naomi wants to call off the engagement, the bad news is she can’t afford to fit the bill. So she tries to get Nicholas to end it instead. They are mean and horrible to each other, but as they spend more time together they soon begin to realise what they loved in the first place. When I first started this book I was in the belief that this couple should not be together. But by the end, all I wanted was them to be happy together. I loved this book, not as hot as the others. But worth a read. 

Workplace Romance

Neanderthal Seeks Human by Penny Reid. What a surprise, another Penny Reid Book on my list. This is the first book in the Knitting in the City series (which I am currently reading right now and am on book 3) This is the story of Janie. In one day she is fired, finds out her boyfriend cheated on her and is kicked out of her apartment. That same day she meets Quinn Sullivan. He escorts her out of the building only to run into her again a few weeks later and save her from being drugged at a club. He gets her new job and turns out to be the millionaire boss. This is a lovely story. Janie has to be the most quirky heroine I’ve ever read. And I love her. (There is also a sequel called Neanderthal marries human which is also good.)

ah fuck ah shit they’re all so excellent i will instead list my favorite things about all of them in order of my vague memory of when they joined the crew. also i smell good how dare you. also FYI for anyone not informed about the Lore, all the shit i’m gonna reference below is a hundred percent canonical.

-jonny: has an ego three thousand times larger than his short ass, king of hubris and not understanding anything. loves his sister dearly, but draws the line at random orgies, which i respect. drags corpses onto the ship like a cat bringing home a kill and tells carmilla to fix his new friends. eyeliner and belt game slay me. (four belts? FOUR??) sad and totally made up backstory, he just lied to everyone’s face about his daddy issues and they were like “chill, let’s write a song where you play all the parts and burn down a casino.” eats people sometimes, which is a positive trait in my heart.

-nastya: my god, finally a voice of reason- ah never mind. her vibes are impeccable, my mysterious trans lesbian queen is unique and absolutely vibing <3 “fuck the ship-!” “i do :3″ is my favorite line of dialogue in anything ever. machinefucker and very proud of it, to an almost concerning degree. that one picture where she’s resting two of her fingers on her chin and cocking her hip as she looks up at the sky makes me Yell.

-toy soldier: my beloved it/its inanimate enby ts!! i love it bc it just. vibes. it has so much fun singing and playing instruments and just fucking around with its friends. who would’ve thought the war criminal with a stolen voicebox would be the most babey of this group?? SPEAKING OF ITS VOICE HOLY SHIT. TRIAL BY SONG CAUSES HEART PALPITATIONS. adorable little nutcracker with the saddest fucking backstory infinity/10

-tim: so very very done with jonny but we all know they make out in “secret”. hit that fucking high note as loki so well, my god, he put his whole pussy into that! go gayboy relive that trauma! plays out of tune guitar like a champ and has a ten minute long song dedicated to him blowing shit up, what a power move. excellent hair and long sweeping coats, extremely gender of him.

-brian: ohhh sweet boy. but also totally commits atrocities? like he wouldn’t kill an octokitten that was eating marius alive but he’d let a million people die just so he didn’t have to hurt anyone, and that’s just on mje mode- his morals are so fucked, poor man. also hung upside down inside a sun for a century and respects the hell out of trans people and brings people back to life and those are just a few of my favorite things about him. he fully committed to the steampunk look when he got mechanized and i love that so much. also has the potential to be a tumblr sexyman.

-ashes: ASHES!! ashes ashes ashes. first off what a fucking good name that’s like a murderer naming themself Dead People. they’re the hottest, it’s just a fact, sorry everyone but they are just. mmm. carries around gold bars and cigars and gasoline and nothing else which i respect so much. (though where do they put that stuff? their hat??) sings excruciatingly beautifully and snarks at all the idiots they call their friends and practices the three r’s (rage, repression, and radicalness) so i cannot not love them.

-ivy: mystery wife! her whole thing is stories and yet she doesn’t know her own that’s so fucking pog of her. what does an archivist on a spaceship even do dawg it’s not like the other guys care about the cultures they’re annihilating, i’m pretty sure she just sits in her bunk and reads. why did she need her brain replaced? why does she have such crazy memory problems? how does her new brain calculate all these percentages? we don’t know! she’s very cute and wears fishnets and has a mohawk-ponytail which i adore. play me to sleep on ur flute please miss

-raphaella: twenty points right off the bat for having wings and wearing a knit crop top. what is she going for with her look, we don’t know, but she could do horrific experiments on me and i’d thank her, so it’s working, clearly. alternatively tortures and tops the shit out of marius, i will die on this hill. also a terrifyingly good singer, those little “the void siIings” in losing track make my breathing stop and the entirety of ties that bind is so fucking amazing i. hhhh

-marius: christ i love you mr neither a baron nor a doctor. the other guys are dumb but he’s the himbo of the group just for being That Way. also most of his characters’ (who are also himbos) lines are something along the lines of what the fuck or i don’t understand so i’m gonna punch you. he’s adorable and has such bastard vibes, even his outfit is ridiculous and cute. even though lyf was a cop he deserved to get a happy ending with them ok?? i just love him and his liddol raccoon face and he deserves a slow burn criminal/detective to crew mates to lovers.

A Court of Silver Flames

There will be major spoilers in this review. Please don’t read it if you don’t want spoilers. I don't want to spoil anything for anyone.

I have so many thoughts and feelings about this book and about Nesta. This entire review will mostly be my thoughts and feelings. It’s definitely not objective.

This book was good, but it’s not one of my favorites. It just didn’t reel me in and take over my mind like every other SJM book I’ve read has. But I do feel like SJM’s writing has improved. I thought Nesta’s arc and development was great. I loved seeing her heal. I’m glad that she found a way to do it. I don’t dislike her anymore. But I still don’t like her. I really really tried to like her. She’s just not a character I vibe with. I was rooting for Nesta. Even though I don’t like her, and never have, I really was rooting for her going into this book. I wanted her to heal and find happiness. Like I said I don’t hate her, she’s just not a character I particularly like.

SJM added a lot to the world building that I felt was missing from the other books so that was cool. But the plot with the queen just didn’t really flow right. And it made no sense really why Baron was involved. It was cool but I just didn’t get it. At the end it seemed very rushed. The plot just didn’t really progress throughout most of the book. It was just there, and they weren’t doing anything about it. Then it just started actually happening in the end. I liked Cassian and Nesta. Previously I wasn’t sure, but I think they’re good together. They’re not one of my top ships, but I enjoyed seeing them develop. I think we all expected them to be mates, so that wasn't really a shock. I don't particularly like smut but if it's there it doesn't bother me. Plus it's New Adult not YA, so I knew to expect it. And there was a lot there. Like wow. Azriel playing chaperone was golden, but I think we can all agree he failed. Also, the extra Az chapter was interesting. I'm not sure how I feel about it, but I do know I don't ship Azriel and Elain. Elain seemed to have a little bit of personality on this book whenever she was there. That was nice. I really liked Gwyn. She’s probably going to be one of my favorites if she keeps appearing in future books. (Honestly she probably already is.) I also really liked Emerie. They’re both very good characters. Their friendship with Nesta was nice as well. They found ways to heal together which was what really made their friendship nice. Plus a shared love of romance novels was a bonus. I enjoyed the training scenes also which I typically don't love. “I cannot survive without reading.” I related to this quote on so many levels so I had to put it here. I’ve seen a lot of people saying how they don’t like how much Rhys and Feyre were in the book. But I loved it. It made the book even better for me (but I love them and the rest of the IC.) It makes sense though. Yes, the book was about Cassian and Nesta, but Rhys and Feyre mean a lot to Cassian. Even if Nesta wanted nothing to do with them, they’re still Cassian’s family. They’re always going to be a part of his story. Plus, a potential war was brewing. They're the High Lord and High Lady. How could they not get involved in that? I still love the Inner Circle. I always have. That hasn’t changed. Mor was gone most of the time and I kind of missed her. I also want the full story about what happened with her and Eris because I’m confused about it. She doesn't really talk about and Eris said she knows the truth but no one else does. So I'm confused but I want to hear from Mor what happened. I guessed that Feyre was pregnant at the beginning. The moment they talked about the shield hiding her scent, I knew. Or at least hoped. That did not stop me from losing it when they finally told everyone. The reactions were amazing. I got emotional. They were all so happy. However, we were robbed of Mors' reaction. "We’re going to be uncles" Killed me. Ok and I have to talk about this scene because I got very upset reading it. So much that I had to stop reading for a few minutes before I could keep going. But I haven’t seen anyone else talking about it. It’s the scene where Nesta was fighting with Amren and then tells Feyre her baby will probably kill her. It was just so cruel and so wrong. Feyre should have already known about this. I won’t deny that. Rhys should have already told her. But that’s not why Nesta said it. It wasn’t because Feyre deserved to know. Nesta had already agreed with the rest of them to keep it a secret. She knew how to cut Feyre so it would hurt her the most. And that’s what she did. There’s no other way to put it. That was something no one deserved to have thrown in their face and used as ammunition in a fight. I get that Nesta was upset, but that doesn’t excuse it. Yes, Feyre should have already known, but that doesn’t make what Nesta did any better. It was wrong. Yes, Nesta realizes she fucked up. And how badly she hurt Feyre. This just was one scene I was stuck on for a while. It was just messed up. That wasn’t something that Nesta should have ever even considered using to hurt Feyre. It was cruel. This is probably not going to be a popular opinion. But Nesta, Emerie, and Gwyn being able to beat Illyrian warriors, who have trained their entire lives for the rite, seemed unrealistic. I know they trained with Cassian but still. They trained for a few months and were able to beat people who trained their whole lives. Don’t get me wrong the scenes were cool and I love seeing misogynistic men getting their asses kicked. Idk it just seemed a little weird. I mean Rhys, Az, and Cass hardly made it through. They say it was a massacre. Cass even said he would subject Mor to it, even though she’s just as good of a warrior and she's supposed to be super powerful(speaking of what is Mor's power? I've never understood.). But they only saw other people a couple of times. Also, what happened to that one guy that hid in the cave with Nesta and Emerie at the beginning? Ok so those last few chapters. I was a wreck. I love Feyre, and I was so happy about the baby because they were all so happy. And I thought that they were about to lose them and Rhys. I was a mess. I don't get how Fae can't survive a Cesarean. But I've also never really been able to pinpoint the timeframe SJM has set for ACOTAR and how developed the world is. It just doesn't make sense that a fae with advanced healing abilities wouldn't be able to make it though that. Plus the healers were able to basically rebuild Cassian's wings, so it doesn't make sense why they could do something like that but not a C-section. I also don't know a lot about childbirth anyways, so I might just not understand. It doesn't matter though because Nesta saved them. The end with Nesta and Feyre was great. It was a nice moment. I think they both need eachother more than they realize. The scene with Rhys and Nesta was good also. I do think there’s still a lot to unpack with Nesta and Feyre though. They really need to have a serious long talk. Because things aren’t just going to be magically fixed. There’s a lot of hurt there. I thought the book was good. It’s not one of my favorites. I don’t know what it was. All of SJM’s other books hooked me and took over my brain immediately. This one never really did that except in the last few chapters and not really even in those. I didn’t love this book, but overall I did enjoy it.

Chan :

Chan can’t but always looks at you from the training field, while you walks pass the walkway above, between the two towers, wearing your royalty outfit. You are the child of the ruling king and queen and he is just a knight in the army, maybe the highest one, so the chief, but compared to you, just a knight. He was training to be a knight from an early age and used to see you grown as well, because you are around the same age.

But you never looked at him. You never look down the walkway. This day, as always, he just sighs and refocus on the young knights to form when you walked out of his sight.

Minho

Minho loves to be the center of the attention, getting hundred of amazed looks and cheers. He loves to wear colorful clothes and being the troubadour of the court. The king, your father, was really nice to him and paid him also to teach you some poetry. So he’s very happy with his life, getting to spend hours with you, just talking about art and get to admire how smart you are.

But the shadow were still here: the fact that he’s just miles away from your class – you’re gonna be the future monarch for god’s sake – and the throne next to you never gonna be filled with him.

But the tragedy doesn’t stop here: he was just happy to be your friend and sees you everyday but he can’t do that anymore. Because one day, during one of your lessons, you kiss him and for a second, he was happy. He was happy for a couple of weeks being your secret lover but your father finds out and he gave him the choice: be killed or leave. So Minho goes on the roads again, never forgetting that one day, he had the attention of the most important person to him: you.

Changbin

Changbin believed he never gonna knew love in his life. Being a slave for his entire life, sold away from his parents at 6 and buy by your family at 16, he just believed everyone told him: that he was nothing. But you came into his life, child of a duke and duchess. Your family was rude to Changbin but you was the only one who care about him. You fighted your father several times to give him at least a room (with the minimal but a bench and a roof) and a proper meal by day (you managed to sneak and give him more food).

You basically save his life and his mental health. The amount of his love for you was only equal to the amount of despair he have because he knew he never could love you like you deserved.

Hyunjin

Everyone knows Hyunjin in the city: he was the town crier’s son, the bright kid who follow his father everywhere and helping him at his job. Hyunjin thinks his father was the best at his job and when he finally be able to do it on his own, he tried to be the best too.

One day, he sees you, the second child of the king and queen, looking at him with bright eyes, surrounded by your guards and servants, while he reads his text. He was starstruck, it’s was love at first sight. But he can’t approached you, the guards make it very clear. So everyday, he continues to do his job loud and louder, so he hopes you can hear him from your arrowslit.

“_Your Royal Highness! You need to stop escaped from the castle! I’m going to punish you!”

Jisung saw you glaring furiously at him before being pulled always by your chaperon. Chaperon who just throw at him a haughty look before turning away with the guards.

This wasn’t the last time Jisung saw you. You was the fourth child of the king and queen and you don’t give a fuck about your statutes so you’re running away almost every month, time to prepare a new plan. So you two end up being friends because you love to refer at yourself of the ‘street’s kids’”. You discovered everything together: the first hangover in his father’s basement, the first tobacco with the herbalist’s son… also the first kiss and the first time. But the reality makes up for you when you turns the age for marriage. Being the fourth child, you don’t have a high place in the hierarchy but you can be used for diplomatic reasons with the neighborhoods.

Your father knew your love for escaping, so he trapped you in the castle and make the public announcement of your wedding. Jisung was devastating. For some weeks, he was a mess, doesn’t know if you are lying to him or if you are trapped. He must knew. He must knew a royalty kid never gonna be with him forever, him, the son of a bartender.

But after 3 weeks, he heard your code on his window and saw you, covered in dirty water and mud, a little bundle on your shoulders and a smile on your face.

“_ I think it’s time for us to go”.

Felix

Felix loves cooking and he was really happy that he’s finally be accept in your family’s castle, the home of the duke and duchess. Well, he’s not the chief yet, just a clerk but he have a good room and a good salary.

At first, he don’t like you, way before seeing you before he always heard how picky you are towards your foods and pissed all the cooks around. Well, especially the new ones because the old knows you and were just used to it.

One night, Felix was cleaning the kitchen alone after a huge banquet and he heard sound behind the closed door before someone opens it. Leaning on the floor with water and duster, he just popped behind a counter and you almost scream at him in fear, almost blow up the candle you have in your hands.

“_What are you doing here? The kitchen’s close.

_ I know but… I… I’m a little bit hungry and…

_ Sorry, I can’t do anything for you, I’m not allowed. Please get back to your room.

_ What? You don’t know who I am?

_No? Should I?

_ Well… I’m like the heir of this castle.”

Felix opens his eyes and freeze.

“_ Oh! Oh… Your Grace, I’m… I’m sorry… I-

_ Haha, calm down! No need, you’re doing your job”.

You end up talking during a long time this night and Felix learns your love for food. You show him some dishes and when you’re talking more and more about your passion, he can’t but develop a crush on you.

Unfortunately, he knows his crush never gonna be mutual, as he sees you smiling around with you childhood friend, some child of an another duke.

Seungmin

Seungmin loves to be a monk, to be on every road, talking to different people, sleeping in a bunch of various places. But he have one rule: never stay in a place too long. Why? Because in the boy’s history is his biggest regret: you. In some random village, he falls for you, the child of a really high merchant. You was so kind and so dedicated to others than the crush was irremediable. He never knows if you feel the same way as him because your interactions were simply professional and because your family doesn’t like him.

Not because he was a bad person but just because he was a monk, a wealth-less person, always walking on bare foots with shady clothes. And their reputation thing was high, so he left.

Jeongin

Jeongin comes from a serf’s family and you were the child of the baron and baroness who ruled the land.

His crush on you was no immediate but slow burn. Working on cereal field, he sees you everyday on the road, in a luxurious cart, going to the local town to see if there were new books in the library. The first times, he just thinks that rich people got really a lot of time to play. But in the few months, he used to saw several things that contribute to his crush: your smile, your laugh, the day you help some old woman who was falling, the day you give some extra gold to a very young kid, the day you give your servant a book as a birthday gift…

He can just watch them for a long distance but he sees how your heart was big. And seeing this everyday makes him happy and almost died when you smiles at him one day.

I know originally Maricruz wasn’t going to have a long-term role -- actually she was initially gonna be one of the Baron’s posse but I ended up loving her too much and honestly Lily Spencer deserves the world doesn’t she

I have quite a few early (I’m talking pre-Circumstance here) writing tests regarding Cadence’s role in the book 2 plot where he was much more of an asshole. like that was his personality at first. I don’t know how the hell he evolved into the meek lil babe he is today but he did and I’m grateful for it         also fun fact in those writing tests he and Cal had a bit of a vampire-werewolf         hate-fucking thing going on... no idea where that came from either...

if you’ve been with me from the beginning you know the original version of Destiny I was much more profane -- again no idea when my brain said “no Nadya doesn’t swear unless it’s really called for” but it did, so when I went back and did the alpha post-publishing editing I changed most of her exclamations into something a little more PG

I think I’ve touched on this before, but the Trinity are much different post-production than they were in their first drafts. I don’t have any of those left though I wish I did (lost some corrupted files it was a whole thing don’t even get me going) but I know the earliest incarnation of their interactions I have left is the short posted in the Bound by Drabbles collection -- though even that is pretty similar to who they currently are

it’s hard to describe, which kinda sucks, but I just know they were different and ended up changing the more I got into Valdas and Isseya’s motivations in book 1 and when I started actually putting book 3 out in real words rather than just ideas. but I’m happy with who they are so that’s really all that matters!

I think the only character who stayed really consistent (out of my original characters that is) is probably Taylor. Beyond a handful of chapters that were written and taken out (for those interested I had written the NB plot involving the squad going to visit the Fate but ended up taking it out for my plot rewrites) he’s pretty much the same chaotic mess all the way through??

⇢ I recommend you all to check it out, it’s currently on a hiatus for season 2 but after only reading season 1, I’ve been struck with inspiration!

⇢ lemme give you all a rundown on what I have in mind for my fanfic based on this amazing piece of art! 

⇢ be warned, there will be spoilers/hints on the general plot of the manga so if you would like to read the first 45 chapters aka season 1 of the manga first then feel free! 

⇢ this 👏🏼 is 👏🏼 going 👏🏼 to 👏🏼 be 👏🏼 a 👏🏼 reincarnation au 👏🏼 people! 👏🏼 - something i never thought i’d play around with in this lifetime but here i am, inspired and ready to write an entire multichapter fic on this

⇢ 👏🏼 LETS 👏🏼 GET 👏🏼 IT!

⇢ to start with, reader is reading a novel about BTS ⏤ all of whom were cursed and, therefore, ridiculed by society despite being a part of the royal bloodline, in fact, they were going to be the crown prince of their kingdom

⇢ note: all of them come from different kingdoms (all of which i do not yet know the names of) that are under massive tension around each other - their relationship with each other isn’t very good, lets just keep it at that, no trust, no solid alliences, no nothing.

⇢ their (bts’s) curse was the only thing that brought the kingdom’s leaders/kings and queens together for only a breif moment

⇢ The princes were born at different times and since the curse was the same for all of them, they were all forced to live in the same secluded mansion deep in the woods, owned by some insignigicant and greedy count/baron (clearly i need to research these terms of heirarchy so ignore me for now)

⇢ after each new prince of a different kingdom was born with the same curse, they were immediately sent away to live in the same unkempt mansion, however, most of them never knew of each other’s existence as no grand welcoming ceremony/party was hosted for their arrival

⇢ lemme give you some details of the curse, this is going to be fairly similar to how the curse affects the host in the manga i read so be warned : 

⇢ the curse makes the princes look younger in terms of their body size as they can’t stomach any food ⏤ this stunts their growth and makes them look half their age so jinnie who would be 20 years old at first meeting actually looks like a 10 year old instead

⇢ they have constant bags under their eyes, unhealthy pale skin bc they can bearly walk outside for their daily dose of vitamin D

⇢ one hald of their skin is slowly rotting off corresponding to the side that has the curse marks circling their wrist, kinda like a singular hand cuff

⇢ they are always weak, dizzy and just really really unhealthy, as a result, they can’t ever bring themselves to look in the mirror from how hideous they look ⏤ their appearnce makes the maids and servants vomit

⇢ their eyes are dull and faded in colour because of the lack of nutrients and their hair is spindly thin too 

⇢ sometimes, they can’t even drink water and puke it up despite how incredibly thirsty they are 

⇢ because they were ostrasised to such an extent, they never knew love or were showed any affection when growing up ⏤ this seemed to make the effect of their curse worse

⇢ not only that but the maids and staff never approached them willingly or treated them well because of how disgusted their appearance made them feel

⇢ this only made our beloved bts princes feel worse about themselves

⇢ an untimely storm, thankfully, was able to give them hope because it made them realise that they weren’t the only people in the world that had the horrible curse inflicted onto them

⇢ the storm forced the count/baron to renovate the mansion as the roof fell through and the princes were sent to another one of his properties where the count’s niece was visiting

⇢ i am naming her Areum, okie? (don’t blame me if your name is Areum, blame on of the many korean birthname websites out there)

⇢ upon seeing the princes, she screams and calls them disgusting monsters, this helps the princes lean on each other for the support and love that they were deprived of since young

⇢ this ultimately leads to them developing an open/poly relationship with one another

⇢ note: poly relationships weren’t uncommon during these times as many royals had concubines and such, it was only uncommon that the partners were all the same gender

⇢ the knowledge of no longer being alone helped them recover from the curse. They also gave and recieved love from each other which vanquished the curse enough so that they grew healthy and finally looked their age

⇢ their recovery was only to an extent however, as they still felt weak and still had the curse marks as well as some rotting skin on areas they were able to easily hide

⇢ eventually, word of their recovery from the curse came out and they were welcomed back into their kingdoms and invited to the annual celebration in worship of the holy beings

⇢ in this celebration, they meet Areum once again, who they had long since forgotten because of their love for each other 

⇢ in this meeting, Areum actually acknowledges them as ‘human’ bc their curse wasn’t as bad. she shows them an act of kindness that was never shown to them before so they instantly fall in love with her

⇢ since falling for her, they strieve to win her heart as well but were rejected as she was already engaged to the crown prince

⇢ this crown prince is taehyung’s younger brother, who had ‘replaced’ him because he was cursed and the kingdom still needed an heir to the throne ⏤ this was the same case for all of the princes as they could no longer be the crown prince of their kingdom due to their curse

⇢ when the new crown prince (taehyung’s younger brother) found out that tae was actually his brother all along, he was overjoyed and tried to get close to him but was treated bitterly by tae and the rest of bts bc of Areum

⇢ despite taehyung projecting hate onto his younger brother, his younger brother only admired him and wanted to get to know him as he grew up lonely and craving an older sibling

⇢ bts ended up leading a rebellion in order to win Areum’s heart but their attempts failed and led to their execution

⇢ while reader was reading this novel, she cried and felt only pity and a want to help the fictional cursed princes bc she was able to see how truly sweet they were and reasoned that they deserved so much better than how they were treated

⇢ however, reader knew that she couldn’t do anything as they were just characters in a fictional world

⇢ thankfully, there was a sequel that was published just as reader finished reading the first novel. in this sequel, some type of redemption was given for the accursed princes

⇢ unfortunately, just as she finished the prologue and was midway through reading this first chapter, reader got caught up in an accident (maybe i’ll make it a car accident but that’s too cliche for me so i don’t know...)

⇢ and when reader wakes up she is in bed being nursed by a character from the novel ⏤ the kind hearted chef of the baron/count’s manor who hoped and wished her cooking helped the boys recover somewhat from their curse

⇢ the chef told her that she found her out in the forest in the heavy rain and was about to shout to her when she collapsed

⇢ to thank the chef for saving her life, reader became a maid of the manor as they were fairly understaffed. after stumbling into one of the prince’s rooms she realised that she was reincarnated into the novel

⇢ it was strange though bc she doesn’t remember a maid being called (Y/N) in the novel  ⏤ she was possibly a new side character or another insignificant role of the plot...

⇢ that didn’t matter though bc no matter who she was or what she did, she wouldn’t be able to return to her original life as Charlotte the aspiring singer and musician that had yet to make it big 

⇢ since she had died as Charlotte in the real, modern world, there’s no way she could ever even think of going back

⇢ instead, she’ll become the best maid and best companion the princes had ever had 

⇢ she’ll change their pitiful fate and give them the happy ending they deserve

Favourite Character: Owen Carvour, babyyyyy! This might be somewhat inspired by the way fanfics and such portray him pre-Russian affair, but I just really like his character. I like that he’s so complicated and so conflicted with himself. He makes horrible decisions, but I think there are a ton of redeeming good qualities about him that we didn’t get to see that would make him such a compelling figure. I mean, Curt fell so in love with him that he spent four years drinking himself into a grave. There had to be reasons we did not see that made him incredible. Also his accent my god. I love Curt with all my heart, but something hits different about Owen.

Least Favourite Character: Um probably the informant? I loved a lot of his jokes, but he just seemed like an extra character. I would have been more content giving some of the time spent on him to seeing more of Owen pre-Russian Affair, or having more time to see him post-reveal. 

Favourite OBC Cast Member: So I’m gonna take these two questions to just scream about Curt and Joey individually because there isn’t much of a different cast and they are legitimately my two favorite people. ANYWAY:

Curt is the sweetest, most selfless person I’ve ever met??? Legitimately??? He puts so much of himself into everything he does and genuinely strives for greatness. He played Agent Mega so freakin well, and you can just see when he’s performing (as him or any other time really) that he is having the best freakin time of his life. It brings so much happiness to me. Honestly, how he hasn’t been snatched up and put into something huge astonishes me. Also his voice makes me cry it’s so damn good- ANYWAY

Favourite Current Cast Member (If Applicable): Ok so now Joey. Joey is JUST AS MUCH the nicest person out there and is so freakin funny. I don’t know how one person managed to capture my humor exactly, but every single thing he’s in and has his hands on makes me laugh like an idiot. He’s incredibly talented in such a criminally amazing way. I really think Spies is the best he’s ever sounded vocally, and it shows his acting range so beautifully. Each time I watch, I don’t see Joey, I just see Owen. I am forever in awe of him. Softest boi rights!!!

Favourite Song: This changes every damn day omg. The one I keep going back to however is One Step Ahead. Maybe it’s because there’s so much backstory and emotion packed into one song. Maybe it’s because it’s one of the few times we get to see Curt and Owen actually interact in the show. Maybe it’s because Curt and Joey’s voices have never sounded more incredible. Whatever it is, I absolutely am a huge fan of it. Such a powerful and intense song.

Least Favourite Song: Honestly? Probably Eyes On The Prize I. I freakin love Lauren with all my heart (if I could give her more money on Patreon my dumb ass WOULD), but the song itself just doesn’t do much for me. Eyes On The Prize II has the intensity and depth I think the song needs. With Susan’s ‘you gotta’s (though funny), it just kind of loses it’s weight for me. Lauren’s voice is godly no matter what she sings, but I think a hard-nose character like Cynthia deserved a song more along the lines of Linda’s solos in Black Friday than the lighter of the two EOTP jams. It would have fit better.

Favourite Act (If Applicable): THIS IS A HARD QUESTION UGH. As a whole, I’d probably have to go with Act I. It’s got the best jokes, the story flows well, there’s a lot of intrigue and angst™. I love getting to know Agent Mega and see him trying so hard to bounce back. I also love the DMA. Aside from Vanger (god I love him), Doing This, whatever background dance Curt does in his seat during One More Shot, parts 5 & 6, and Spy Dance, Act II doesn’t do a ton for me. 

Favourite Ship: NO QUESTION AT ALL -- Curtwen. Seriously. I love everything about them and forget so often that we only really see them as “them” in about three parts of the whole show. There’s just two really complex and complicated characters who you can TELL loved each other and had something so serious going on before everything fell apart. My heart aches whenever I think about just how much they had had to love each other for their dual reactions to have occurred. I love them so freakin much.

Least Favourite Ship: I literally stay away from so many other ships because I’m just really into Curtwen lmao, but I guess Owen & Tati? It’s fine if it’s as a joke or for a mission, but like...they ain’t it if it’s for real. 

If There is Something I Would Change about The Musical: Oh boy, I’ll give you my top five:

1) GIVE US MORE CURTWEN BACKSTORY!!! I just want to know more of their time pre-Russian affair. I want to see why Curt was so crushed and why Owen became so spiteful. There are reasons, and maybe TCB has a thing in mind to show us those reasons, but damn I would’ve loved to know more. Even if we didn’t “see” it, just having Curt talk about it. Man.

2) Speaking of Owen, TELL US MORE ABOUT HIM! I felt myself craving more information about him and his character. All we learn about him personality wise is through Curt’s fondness in Spy Again and in the bits about him in The Coldest Goodbye. But I want to know more about him. How was he in private? Why was he so absolutely against secrets that he was willing to commit himself to Chimera? To the Baron? Curt hints that he used to lift Curt up. I would have loved to see a bit of him doing that so we could see even more prominently how big of a contrast Chimera!Owen was, why Curt was so willing to shoot him. I feel like we got tastes of him, but not anything super concrete. I wanted more.

3) I wish we had gotten a serious scene like we did with Curt and Tati with Curt and Barb. The ending scene with them is cute and sweet, but I think Curt apologizing to her or even possibly confessing he can’t ever love her the way she wants, but can love her as a friend as much as she needs, would have been wonderful. God, it would have been wonderful. She just deserved better than to be dragged along. 

4) During One Step Ahead, instead of having the pause be so we can check in on Barb and Tati, I would have loved pauses where Curt and Owen were firing back and forth trying to stop each other? Talk things out? And this isn’t just me being #1 Curtwen stan over here, trust me. I think it would have been interesting to see more of their emotion carrying through the chase and not just assuming it was emotional through the song (though it does a very good job). It could have added to the suspense and buildup, and contrasted well against the sillier aspects of their modes of transportation. We could have had the Barb/Tati scene fit in there still, but a few pauses in the song to have Owen and Curt speaking and Owen being like JUST SHUT UP CURT, YOUR WORDS MEAN NOTHING while Curt’s like BUT IF WE JUST TALK IT OUT. Idk, I want it.

5) PUT COLDEST GOODBYE REPRISE ON THE SOUNDTRACK PLEASE AND THANK YOU

Ratings: 9.5/10, this show took over my life. I stan it so hard it’s not even funny.

Eminem - Music To Be Murdered By ALBUM REVIEW

Another surprise Eminem album came out last Friday. His last album, Kamikaze was a surprise release and it mostly consisted of Eminem responding to criticism of his previous album, Revival. Revival received the criticism it deserved because it was really bad but Em wasn’t having it. Since Kamikaze, Eminem has stayed on the scene dropping MGK diss tracks, beefing with Nick Cannon, and appearing on albums from Logic, Fat Joe and Griselda, who dropped their debut on Shady Records in November. Kamikaze was mainly a response to his critics but it still wasn’t received that well even though it was much better than Revival. His latest album, Music To Be Murdered By initially comes off as a response to the responses to his response album that responded to people hating Revival. However, it turns out to be one of the most well-rounded albums that Eminem has put out in years. The production hasn’t been this good in a while. Eminem himself, Dr. Dre, Royce Da 5′9″, The Alchemist, Dem Jointz, Trevor Lawrence Jr. and D.A. Doman among others contribute production to the album. There’s also more variety in the production, which makes this 20-track album not feel as long as a bunch of his past albums. This album takes inspiration from Alfred Hitchcock and contains some of the serial killer vibes that reminded me a little bit of Relapse. Premonition definitely sets the tone for the album because Eminem is rapping his ass off. The first song is the Unaccommodating, which features Young M.A. I thought this was an odd match-up and I’m not the biggest fan of Young M.A. but she had a dope verse with some good one-liners despite her sounding very laid-back which is not how Eminem sounds at all on the track. I loved the song despite the Ariana Grande concert line which was uncalled for. He switches up the vibe with You Gon’ Learn which features Royce Da 5′9″ who delivers one of his most politically charged verses that he’s put out in a while. Eminem had a dope line where he said “I'm with a gal at a Checkers wiling / Bumping ‘Fuck Da Police’ while I fed her Rally's.” Even though the beat on the song Godzilla was a little basic and poppy for me, Eminem was really flowing on this song. I think the end of his last verse was the fastest he’s ever rapped (yes, faster than Rap God and Offended). Juice WRLD (R.I.P.) is featured on the hook and he sounds very good and fitting for the beat. That song makes an interesting to the song Darkness which ran chills down my spine. It’s a haunting song from the perspective of the Las Vegas concert shooter. He tells a story of the shooter plotting in his hotel room while also describing the concert setting in a parallel story that contains double-meanings that apply to both stories. I am amazed that Eminem was able to make a song like this after dropping Revival. This song addressed gun violence in America in a very interesting way but this one makes a greater impact than the political tracks on Revival because it’s a much better song and it definitely makes a greater impact on the listener. It’s a hard song to listen to but he pulled it off phenomenally and the execution was great. There’s a really dope hip hop posse cut on this album featuring Royce Da 5′9″, Q-Tip, Black Thought and Mr. Porter. The beat is super energetic and it works for every single one of them. I can tell that this song was made out of the pure love of hip hop. Every verse is riddled with references to classic hip hop songs, down to the Busta Rhymes sample on the hook. Yes, Black Thought outrapped everyone and I wish Q-Tip had a verse but he sounded great on the hook. The song Never Love Again sounds like it could have appeared on Recovery. The song is a breakup song but it’s not about a woman, it’s about Eminem breaking up with the drugs he was once addicted to. What makes it so dope is that the song works as talking to both subjects. This song seems like it was important song for Eminem to make for himself for where he is in his life and it might be important song for other people struggling with drug addiction as well. Lock It Up is an absolute banger featuring Anderson .Paak. They collaborated previously on Dr. Dre’s Medicine Man. Eminem recruits Cactus Jack signee Don Toliver on the dope introspective No Regrets. I really do love this song and Don Toliver’s hook really makes the song. When I first saw the tracklist for this album, I was most intrigued by the song I Will. It features Royce Da 5′9″, KXNG Crooked and Joell Ortiz, 3/4 of Slaughterhouse. The song is noticably missing the 4th member of the group: Joe Budden. This did not surprise me because Budden has been “retired” for about 3 years and is very successful with his podcast. Budden and Em also exchanged jabs after Kamikaze dropped so I wasn’t expecting them to reconcile. Eminem and Slaughterhouse have done songs without Joe before (Session One) but I was so happy that we got a track with all of these guys on it. I would love Slaughterhouse to fully reunite but Joe is doing great things with the JBP. Joe would have killed this beat also. In terms of solely spitting bars, this is the best song on the album. Royce had a dope line where he said “Sacha Baron Cohen, Ferrell, where am I going with this? I liked most of this album; at least a solid 65% of it. Even though this album has some of the best songs that Eminem has put out in a while and he’s rapping his ass off, this album has many flaws. Eminem and Ed Sheeran’s previous collaborations have sucked but Those Kinda Nights was really bad. Eminem’s immature Encore-reminiscent sense of humor comes through on this song and Ed Sheeran’s hook sounds so out of place and makes the song even worse. Songs like that make this album a lot harder to enjoy. No one asked for another track with Skylar Grey. This song had some of his most cringey bars and the hook was really bad. I usually don’t mind Eminem’s sort-of-singing register but the song Stepdad was so bad. It was out of place on the album and the hook was so terrible. Em was rapping really well on Little Engine but the hook ruined the whole song. It reminded me of the awful hook on Venom. Farewell really made me scratch my head. That’s one of the oddest songs that Eminem has made in a while. This would fit right in with those corny and not-at-all-funny tracks that somehow snuck onto the tracklist of The Marshall Mathers LP 2. The hook is really bad but the worst thing about it is the song revolves around this weird dancehall sample of Serani’s No Games. Yes, there are a bunch of skippable songs on this album that hurt the replay value of the album but overall, Music To Be Murdered By is a very good album and it is one of the best albums that Eminem has put out in a while.

Smackdown 5/8/2020

Hey guys! Back again with my opinions (that you didn’t ask for) on Friday Night Smackdown last night- May 8th, 2020. Let’s do it!

Of course, this is the last show to send us into Money in the Bank 2020 and I have convinced myself that whoever won during this show will lose on Sunday. Take that with a grain of salt...

♡ Mandy vs. Sonya  (+) (MVP)

So first up, we had the Sonya vs. Mandy fight, which, if I’m being honest, I thought was going to be the sleeper match of the evening. Damn was I wrong. These girls killed it. They both gave super convincing performances and they have amazing chemistry together- you can tell they’re great friends outside of the ring. The Otis storyline is kind of meh for me, but after this match last night, I’m hoping to see more of these two together. This is definitely getting my MVP of the night.

♡ Male 2 Team Tag Match (-)

Okay, yes. I’m giving it a negative. It’s not that it was a bad match; all four of these teams are great! It’s just.... the same match we’re going to see on Sunday. So I’m kinda burnt out at this point. They set up this fatal four way a little early. The only way we can make this different is if Xavier Woods comes back. I don’t know his physical condition, but he has been out for 8 months. I’d love to see him in action. However, despite this, shout out to Lucha House Party and John Morrison for being TANKS in this match. They did great.

♡ Jeff Hardy vs. Sheamus (+)

Man, I am so stoked to see Jeff back in action. He’s just as good as he’s always been. Obviously I’m biased (if you can’t tell by the name of the blog), but he’s still such a joy to watch perform. Sheamus’ story arc here kind of came out of nowhere, but I still see what they’re doing. Plus, two “B-list” veterans going head to head is amazing. I’m very looking forward to continuing with this and I wish the match had gone on longer!

♡ Female 2 Team Tag Match (-)

Stop trying to make Lacey Evans a thing, WWE. Please. I’m begging you. I’m so over her random ass character decisions. She just shows up at random times and is randomly angry? I don’t know. Also, I get Bayley is now this cocky stuck-up as her character, but what was that “Give us a break for a second” thing? That was.... weird. Tamina destroyed everyone and I’m really hoping this was a precursor to her getting the title (although I don’t think it is.) This match was boring and I’m kinda over the womens Smackdown division at the moment.

♡ Braun Strowman and Bray Wyatt Face-to-Face (?)

I’m putting this has a ? because I really don’t know how I feel. For starters, I think this storyline is past its’ prime. We should’ve gotten it soon after the Wyatt family disbanded. Obviously, they can’t mention Harper or Rowan, so it just feels weird and incomplete in a way. Braun is a cuddly teddy bear to me (I really do love him), but I also know he’s technically not supposed to have the belt right now, so they’re doing things on the fly. That being said, these promos seem... off. Braun is obviously scripted out of his ass and while he plays it off well, he’s teaming with a genius on the mic- Bray Wyatt. Wyatt can sell any promo he’s given and can make it seem like his own words. The Firefly Funhouse is the best thing on Smackdown right now and I think it’s a decent placeholder until Reigns gets back, but I’m still wishing it was just.. a little different. But we got the puppets and that makes me happy.

♡ Male 2 Team Tag Match (-)

Alright. Here’s my issue. The idea of having a Baron Corbin/Cesaro/Shinsuke 3-way tag team makes me the happiest person in the world. Or, an even BETTER idea- Take Sami Zayn off the Intercontinental Title (which they should do anyway...), give it to Corbin, and officially make the Cesaro/Shinsuke tag team. Because they would destroy in that division and Cesaro deserves it. Corbin is great, I love his character, and all 3 of them are amazing fighters. On the other side- Gulak (boring), Bryan (boring), and Otis (again?). The whole trainer/trainee thing with Gulak and Bryan is so boring, I can’t even bring myself to care. Bryan without a crowd is... rather disappointing? I think he depends on that pop from the crowd and obviously, without anyone in the building, it just flatlines to me. I also don’t really care about Gulak. He’s good, don’t get me wrong, but is he the next big thing? No. It’s no secret to anyone that Vince lives in Otis’ asshole, but putting him in this match was a big ol’ mistake. Not only does it 100% scream the end of Heavy Machinery (which should’ve never fallen flat), it takes away many opportunities for other wrestlers to have made their redebut. We haven’t seen Chad Gable since the Rumble and as far as I know, he’s not injured? Or Elias- he has that budding feud with Corbin! So many wasted opportunities. On the plus, the ladder breaking thing with Otis is definite foreshadowing and I’d die on the hill for Cesaro.

♡ Who is the Hacker?

We got another glimpse at the Hacker tonight, which I love. That is such an interesting story and I cannot wait to get that reveal- assuming they do it correctly. I’m seeing rumors flying everywhere that it could be CM Punk. Which, alright, I’ll humor that for a second. If they were to bring Punk back, they would do it for a crowd pop. Never in a bajillion years would they bring Punk back into an empty show. It would be a waste of shock value. Now, if the world lets up and we have a sold out Summerslam... maybe. Maybe I can see that. But also that would be assuming that Vince or Punk would want to work with each other again! My guess is Ali and this is SUCH a great way to bring him back into the picture. I think Ali is a super underutilized performer and this is such a great way to build hype. I don’t think it could honestly be anyone else- unless this is a weird ploy to bring Graves back into the ring (I know he’s training at the moment).

When Zane meets Clay for the first time he mentions they did a smuggling job together on Junpai-7, u know, the water planet, so obviously this is good news (This made me super happy because my discord channel's name had been the junpai-7 moon pool for a while so I was like 'holy shit it's canon now' :') )

Timeline wise this isn't the beginning, but I don't write in chronological order and I don't order anything in chronological order, either, so. Eh.

Speaking of chronological order, I once got a line where Zane was like exclaiming something and used the moon instead of idk a god or powerful figure or smth and I was like 'lmao that's canon now'

So the moon... Elpis fucking got yeeted halfway across the galaxy or smth, and, considering we've seen (more) ocean on Pandora in 3 instead of just, like, Liars Berg (getting to THAT) or Tretchers landing, I feel bad for the tides. But that's good news for everyone else. Unless you were on Elpis, I guess.

Also hoh boy the 'end' of the game where Troy Phaselocks the moon was fun to write (it actually wasn't, I lowkey hate writing Moonstruck phases because... It hurts and I can't do it well.) also can we talk about how in tps the psychos are called Moonstrucks in tvhm because this makes me so happy. I really hope they did that intentionally considering H2O is an Australian show because my two favorite things combined can and will kill me. Wait actually the Troy boss fight is gonna be hilarious to write mostly because of that one attack with the tidal waves lol oh no

Also, also, also, you guys it's only explained in a guide book and never actually in-game as to why Captain's ship is Like That (TM) so I took some liberties and uhhh blame the Crackening. Mostly brain freeze and trick of the light. That one meme video I made of Tannis and the Flynt Brothers imposed over that one clip of H2O (so let me get this straight: you freeze things, you explode things, and you boil things) wasn't just for laughs, it was actually a warning.

Each Flynt has a thing and Zane's is ice, Baron's is explosions, and Captain's is fire. (Glorious cleansing fire) Because it fits. It fits so well. I will say right off the bat that Mako Mermaids isn't my canon. I lowkey want to write out Charlotte as well (lol) because I've seen the 2nd season so many times and tbh I much prefer them having 1 really strong power over having 3+ really weak powers. Also Charlotte did nothing wrong in the first half of that season. Cleo was just a bitch to her. And Mako Mermaids is just. Not great on the power side of things. You can TURN INVISIBLE. USE IT. Soooo. (also cam got destroyed in s1 and I'm so glad they ended up making him work in s2 and 3. Because he deserved better and Zac was a terrible friend to him and only got away with it because he's a main character). /rant sorry I have so many feelings about these shows. Grew up with them soooooo.

And if ur wondering why I brought up trick of the light it's cause the 13th year exists and that movie was bopping. U guys remember Jess? Good times... Tuba pool scene is iconic. U know the one. I would also bring up aquamarine but ngl that movie was weaksauce comparatively. They hid that bitch in a water tower and iunno talked to earrings. Meanwhile in the 13th year they bring Jess back from the fucking dead and climb on walls like Spiderman. Clearly one is superior.

Anyway Aurelia's ice powers are nanobots as explained in-game and listen I already lore-scienced this okay? Let me say it's amazing the things science is capable of when it thinks it's trying to beat out a competitor and doesn't realize non-Siren magic exists. Even better now that we know Sirens are not Eridian and actually existed before Eridians. Makes me giddy to think about. The universe is tearing me APART Lisa.

Oh speaking of, can we talk about the witch's brew quest on eden-6 because holy shit I had been writing Hiromi and her fascination with discovering all the secret circles long before the game came out and then learning about the group of witches and The Pact (TM) made me lose my shit because 'oh my god it's actually canon now'. We're on the canon path nowwwww. Soon. I hope we get a water planet dlc. I wants it, GB, I wants it.

Also I was totally gonna write a clip in the main story of the game (because I write a lot of backstory stuff if you can't tell, I only have like 3 scenes that take place during the events of the game and like 4 that are speculatory from before the game came out (including a scene from before I realized Troy was Like That but I edited it so he's more in-line and also has Maya's powers now so that's... Hm. In line with the storyline somewhere, but not an actual scene in the games story. Because its not possible with how the game does things (seperating Vault Hunters) I suppose I could just insert a 5th Vault somewhere and say it's the 4th Vault connected to the Machine (with nekrotefeyo's being the 5th). Fuck it.) and then 9,000 are backstory) where Hiromi comes back after like decades of the two not seeing each other and she's been hired to assassinate Zane by one of the many corporations looking for his corpse for a multitude of reasons (And Emma and Nino are both d e a d a s f, you know, for context). And like Barnabas (ya old bastard) Zane is still joking around and just having a grand old time catching up with his black ops buddy meanwhile she had just tried to blow his brains out (she's a sniper) and got pretty damn close. She's not even amused because of her psychic powers so she's just like 'ok' every time he opens his mouth because she already knows what he's going to say she's mostly just frustrated that she missed because she thought she knew him well enough to go off instead of just listening to her intuition but alas people change after, like, 3 decades of not seeing them.

Oh since we're talking about Hiromi that reminds me why Zane wears the black suit. In my non-h2o universe it's because it looks cool and provides some protection from dots. In the H2Oniverse it is because it's waterproof. Okay wait hang on context so Hiromi doesn't like take off his suit or anything, she's extremely gay and not interested, because I realize now how that sounds me relating Hiromi to the clothes, they just get into an argument about how Sirens don't have to follow any arbitrary rules to hide their magic and how it's easier to hide magic without giant glowing tattoos (and mind you this is before Zane even knows Tannis exists though he does immediately know she's a Siren and that's a whole nother can of worms) and hr's like 'I wear a bodysuit for most of my waking hours, so I am pretty sure they can try wearing long sleeved shirts and makeup for a day. Just a suggestion' but like way more in character (and for the scene) because do I sound like I'm in character right now? I'm not. I'm me. And God what a terrible thing to be.

So context for the context: ~magic is real~. If you've got it then you can usually tell who else has it if you're looking. It's especially clear if they're 'similar' to you (if ur a werewolf and u meet another werewolf then you sorta just know they're a werewolf) or if you're psychic (like Hiromi) then you can make some informed guesses. Like. Same Hat? Same Hat!!! Sirens are basically such powerful magic users that they are in literally a whole nother ball park. They're leagues above everyone else. Kill you just by looking at you sort of deal. So sirens normally don't feel other magic because their own magic is so strong it just 'overwrites' the other signals. You know, to not only explain why Lilith isn't immediately like 'who the fuck are you' to Zane and also how Amara couldn't tell Tannis is a Siren. I had a whole thing with Troy (who is psychic) being able to tell Zane had magic despite being near 4 Sirens at once because Troy grew up with Tyreen always at his side so he's used to it and knows how to look through it. Meanwhile Hiromi is basically incapacitated when she's near a Siren because she gets overwhelmed because her powers make it easier for her to read other people's magic.

Oh, context, the black ops outfit worked with Atlas for a short time (the group being Zane, Hiromi, Emma, and Nino. Emma is the yeehaw captain. She's the leader) and ended up meeting Steele for a little bit. Hiromi was just dead the entire meeting, Zane was totally out of it, and Emma and Nino were too busy eyefucking to really care that there was a Siren in the room so. Just imagine one person lying face down on the floor and crying, another staring at the wall without blinking, two undressing each other with their eyes, and then Cmdt. Steele standing in the middle like 'how the fuck did I get here'.

So that was everyone's first experience with a Siren.

There are more but ehhhh I'm tired and I mostly wrote this because I wanted to talk about it with someone else but they haven't read the whole thing yet so now I can scream into the void about it and not feel like I'm bothering them.

Shall we Date? Wizardess Heart Part 23 - Alfonse Goldstein Route

Well, it’s Alfonse’s route and we haven’t even seen him yet, but the heroine is investigating some disease that turns people into monsters…and nope, those are zombies!! I hate zombies!!😥😫😫 Nice to see Alfonse come to her rescue out of nowhere haha. Ahh, he came to save these sick people, glad he had a potion that could return them all to normal😥 It was very kind of Alfonse to offer her his shoulder if she ever felt sad from thinking about her parents again☺️ Not sure why Alfonse doesn’t reveal who he actually is and why he’s on bad terms with Klaus, but I wonder if he’ll be at that big party? Since Klaus is in some media trouble with some girl, he asked the heroine to be his pretend girlfriend at the party and for a while so that he can get these girls off of him, and it does sound like a great deal to get to be Klaus’ girlfriend even if it’s only for a bit! Hahaha, I wonder how Alfonse will react though? Goldstein love triangle for a poor girl sounds like a great headline~

Oh wow, Alfonse runs a free clinic as a doctor in somewhere that’s like the slums part of town? That’s so admirable. Nice that the heroine wants to help him. I wonder if Alfonse pushes others away and doesn’t want them to sacrifice themselves for him because he sacrificed his family to do all this or something? Lmao when a reporter was following the heroine (since Klaus publicly announced at the party that the heroine was his girlfriend) at the academy and Caesar comes to the rescue in his pig form attacking the reporter hahahah. Omggg when she tripped and fell on top of him, and then Alfonse asked if they could stay like that a bit longer because he thinks that having her close makes him feel calm hahaha. It’s nice that they’re bonding nicely, but I wonder why he thinks he doesn’t deserve to be loved?

Alfonse wanted to protect the heroine from reporters and told them the bigger scoop that is, he’s actually a Goldstein. Tbh, I can’t see why the heroine has such strong feelings for Alfonse. They hung out a bit and chatted and ate stuff together etc, but I feel like it’s all on the assumption that they’ve been good friends for the past two years already and this is just the extra topping on the cake that made her realise she likes him, which is awkward because I don’t see why they’re into each other. I also found it unnecessary for Klaus to show that he might like her and that’s why he wants to stop her for drama, since Alfonse will apparently “hurt” her. But I guess maybe they’ll go more into that when they talk about Elaine? Heroine is just happy to help Alfonse. I can’t say whether Alfonse was right or wrong when he decided to discard his family to travel around and help people as a doctor and do research on these diseases etc, since it’s definitely admirable of him to do that, and I’m sure he must have saved a lot of people’s lives for the better. However, at the same time, because of that, he discarded his brothers to face the family and support it themselves and all this in his stead. Well, technically Klaus had to become the responsible one since he’s the second oldest. I guess the good thing is that Klaus does live up to the expectations of the Goldstein family so he doesn’t suffer as much as those who can’t live up to their families, but I’m sure it’s stressful and tiring all the same even though he doesn’t show it, and even though I’m sure he’s proud of his family as well. And I guess, even if Klaus doesn’t mind this life as the “eldest”, it doesn’t change the fact that Alfonse abandoned them and their family, albeit for a good reason, since he’s still following his beliefs and dreams to cure people even to this day.

Loll when they went to the underground graveyard place and Zeus kept scaring the heroine. The scariest thing was when zombies came out and Elias was one of them! Well, he’s technically not dead but still.. Thankfully Alfonse saved him in time, it seems like Elias really misses Alfonse though. I don’t blame Klaus for being so harsh towards Alfonse, especially since Klaus probably knows that Elias wouldn’t be mad at Alfonse no matter how much he has suffered all these years. Honestly, I find it hard to acknowledge that Elaine is happy now just because she’s married to another Baron. And the heroine thinking that she understands Elaine’s feelings just because they’re both “women”. I think I’d find better closure to it if she actually got to talk to Elaine, since regardless, the fact was that Elaine and Alfonse were going to get married in 3 months before he left for his journey and didn’t come back for like years. She’s probably happy that in the end, he chose what he really wanted to do but I’m sure she was at least a bit sad!

I can see why Klaus would reject the heroine’s plea for help. The core is supposed to be used to eradicate all if not most diseases and she wants to use it to save a minimal amount of people in the academy. Also, Alfonse never said that this will eliminate the Black Robe Plague, so in the end, this is just a band-aid solution. Andddd yet Alfonse and the heroine are going to steal the core that took Klaus and them years upon years to cultivate that amount of magic for their cause. Okay…. I’m not sure if the heroine really recognises the consequences she thinks she can take. Does she realise that if this supposed core can cure so many diseases that in essence, if other people know about it, then there would be crying families and people who could have been saved that would blame her for prioritising these few over like the whole world? Aaaand I find it difficult to comprehend why Glenn and Vincent would let them go through so easily just because they think that it’s easier to comprehend saving people in the academy against the world because they “know” the people in the academy. Honestly, considering their jobs, I thought they would be more logical and quite frankly, I’m disappointed. Obviously everything will work out in the end, but still, just seeing them go along with this with no regards to the consequences kills me. The repercussions don’t only include the people that could have been saved within these decades that diseases could be cured (assuming that what Klaus says is true about it), they’re practically going against the government and what if they have deals with others about this? I’m probably just overthinking (like I usually am) and I can understand that they want to save their friends, but I still stand by what I think, curing them doesn’t eradicate the Black Robe Plague, so unless they can cure the root of it, they’re sacrificing future lives that can be saved for temporary relief.

SO not surprised that Hugo popped up just to steal the Elixir Seed. Like as if he was nice enough to give them a map to get it lol. Aaand I am disappointed in this “eradication of disease” plan Klaus was planning to do, I knew it was probably too good to be true but it was still disappointing lol. Well, now no one benefits since they lost the seed~ and lol, just because Alfonse thinks Elias doesn’t like him doesn’t mean he wouldn’t come to give his magical power to save the people in the academy, like umm Elias is like the softest guy ever, he wouldn’t do that even if he really didn’t like Alfonse. I’m uh kinda surprised they so conveniently had a spare Elixir Seed because they made one just in case something happened to the first, it kinda detracts from the idea that this thing is super hard to make etc. Also makes me wonder why everyone can’t tell the teachers to tell the government and pressure them into doing something about this disease killing people in a renowned academy with a lot of students that probably come from well off families as well. Then maybe the first seed wouldn’t have ended up like that. Sigh. I don’t want to be picky but I just think there were a lot of options they could have explored first before doing what they did, and of course since it’s a story everything works out in their favour (e.g. those Mikhail cells that Klaus wanted to make with the seed was already made by Alfonse before blah blah), but I feel like if everything really did weigh on curing all diseases etc, then I feel like the heroine and Alfonse were very rash and irresponsible. Klaus wasn’t the only one they could talk to in convincing that they need the seed. Oh well, I’m probably just nitpicky lol, but you can probably tell I don’t like this route at all and find no endearing romance between the two because I feel like the heroine just makes the silly and rash decisions for Alfonse because he can’t make them, and he feels happy that she would do so.

Okay yay, they finally decided to tell the media about how to cure the disease and now they’re practically done curing everyone. Nice that Klaus acknowledged Alfonse again and they all happily go their merry way again lol, except the heroine plans to follow Alfonse from now on~ Anyway, I’m glad it ended lol. I honestly didn’t like the route and thought it was boring and I don’t think it resonated with me. Alfonse’s story was pretty much what you would think it is from what you get in the beginning of the story. He left the family to find cures for diseases and so Klaus is mad and Alfonse himself doesn’t think he has the right to face them. I guess one of the problems I have with it is that Alfonse is always afraid to face his brothers, but he doesn’t regret what he’s done. He feels bad and he feels that what he did was wrong to them and he would probably still do it if he had the choice again, which is perfectly fine, but I guess I was annoyed that he never really did anything about it? Nor do I feel like he ever changed as a person? It felt like, the whole route was just the heroine doing what he felt he couldn’t do and him appreciating that and reaping from her efforts lol. I guess I just feel that he never really stood up for what he did properly to his brothers and showed them how passionate he was about his choice. Everything was shown through the heroine or the existence of those cells, so I always felt that his personality and character was lacking?
