why. is it so hard to write down the things i know about them. anybody else just have a vague feeling of a character’s personality along with an incapability to translate it into character traits. i’m dying
hurst (human, they/them/theirs)
ran away from home and joined a crew of salvagers so they could see the galaxy
qai’zel kirosi (wroonian, she/her/hers)
a salvager/pilot who owns her own ship. she and fitz are inseparable besties
fitz (harch, she/her/hers)
a cheerful person who’s good at lifting scrap and making people feel at ease. has a lot of hobbies like knitting and making dolls, and loves to explain and teach people her crafts. made her living as a conwoman before she became a spacer
welso tebb (human/zabrak, he/him/his)
used to be a salvager with qai, fitz, and hurst but moved to coruscant in the past couple years. he likes to keep busy and meet new people so he has a lot of part time jobs, mostly serving in restaurants. (he ended up employed as a lounge singer at one place but he doesn’t tell his friends bc he thinks it’s embarrassing)
hurst loves him even though they didn’t spend much time together and gets excited to go back to coruscant and see him
reza kirosi (wroonian, he/him/his)
qai’zel’s brother. they’re from a working family but reza has made himself rich as a “businessman”. he’s made a lot of important connections but is definitely in deeper with his business partners than he likes to think
has a biiig crush on welso. he watches this guy wipe down tables in coruscant’s greasiest diner like “pleeease let me wrap you in the finest silks”
solace (human, she/her/hers)
a skilled slicer who sometimes works for reza. she became roommates with welso after reza introduced them
amisen (mikkian, he/him/his)
hurst’s childhood friend and their bodyguard before hurst ran away. they dated in secret as young adults up until then.
trinne (human & 1/4 twi’lek, she/her/hers)
grew up with hurst since infancy and was made hurst’s chief attendant when they grew up. kind of pushed into the role of the responsible one once hurst got fed up and started to rebel
etikka (human/twi’lek hybrid, she/her/hers)
trinne’s mother and hurst’s gestational carrier. she was peltra’s friend and attendant before she resigned to have her first baby. she ended up living in the palace again when peltra asked her to carry hurst. trinne and hurst were raised together by etikka during their early years
elian (human, she/her/hers)
she was the allstar of the royal guard training program and became hurst’s chief bodyguard. she took amisen under her wing bc she thinks he’s cute like a puppy. she’s gay and likes teasing trinne
peltra (human, she/her/hers)
hurst’s mother, a space princess. expected hurst to be exactly like her and could not fathom that her child couldn’t meet expectations due to mental illness
ilne (human, he/him/his)
peltra’s ex and hurst’s bio father. peltra’s punishment for being so shitty to him was that their kid inherited everything that annoyed her about him
anais kort (devaronian, she/her/hers)
you know anais right. a young adult jedi with powers strongly tied to the emotional states of others. she was drafted to lead a battalion partway through the war. she and finn ertay were in love as teens and separated themselves to avoid becoming overly attached
greeley (unknown species, xe/xir/xirs)
anais’s mentor, a jedi who worked in secret intelligence during the war
irrah (mirialan, she/her/hers)
greeley’s padawan before anais. she completed her knighthood trials but joined the educorps to help serve remote communities
mohlo (nautolan, she/her/hers)
a teen who was one of a group irrah rescued from a sweatshop. mohlo had no family to be reunited with so irrah decided to take care of her
thimri (tholothian, he/him/his)
childhood friend of anais and finn who became a jedi healer

summary: it’s 2am and you can’t sleep after getting in a fight with your ex. you text your best friend, and within five minutes, he’s at your doorstep ready to take you on an adventure.
You tossed and turned, sleep evading you as your thoughts drifted back to the fight you had had with your ex that evening. It was always an on again, off again thing between you, but after the hateful things he’d said about you that night, you swore you were done for good. And you knew it shouldn’t matter what he had to say, his opinion irrelevant, but his words still echoed in your head even now, hours later, as you tried to sleep. Sighing, you reached for the phone on your nightstand, smiling at your lockscreen.
It was a picture of you and Jungkook when you’d been hanging out a few weeks ago, sitting on the couch in the dormitory’s study lounge. Instead of studying though, the photo captured a moment of him with his arm around your shoulders, your heads smooshed together, giggling together. Taehyung had snapped the picture when you hadn’t been looking. You couldn’t help but smile when you saw Jungkook’s smile in the photo. He was your comfort person in every way possible. You knew there was only one thing to do that would help you get your mind off the stress of the day.
“Hey. You up?”
A simple text message sent to contact Dumbass (Affectionate).
“Yo. What’s up?”
You rolled your eyes at the very “bro” response from him.
“Can’t sleep.”
“Be right there.”
“Koo no. I’ll be okay. Just….text with me for a bit.”
“Omw.”
You knew there was no stopping him. Sighing, you got up out of bed and tugged on one of your oversized sweatshirts you were fairly certain was Jungkook’s and waited for his knock on your door. Five minutes later, you heard his signature tapping.
“You really didn’t have to come over here, you know,” you sighed, opening the door for him to come inside
“I know,” he chirped, sounding far too awake for 2am, all bright eyes and bunny teeth. “Let’s go for a walk. Get your shoes on.”
“You cannot be serious,” you deadpanned, “Jungkook. It’s 2am. What are we going to possibly do walking around at 2am?”
“I dunno,” he shrugged, smiling brightly, “But whatever it is, is better than you lying here thinking about (ex’s name). So c’mon, we’re burning….moonlight.”
You rolled your eyes, already slipping on your sneakers. Jungkook was infamous for his random adventures. You knew whatever he had up his sleeve would certainly be fun, and he was right - much better than laying awake thinking about (ex’s name).
After tugging on your shoes, you followed Jungkook out down the stairs of the dormitory and in the direction of the neighborhood park. It was one of his favorite places to go when he needed to clear his head. You’d spent numerous afternoons taking breaks from studies to sit and swing with him or just climb on top of the jungle gym and look out at the fields, talking about everything and nothing. But something about trudging to the park in the dark was terrifying. Every little shape and shadow seemed to have you jumpy and on edge. Jungkook giggled at you as you clung to his sleeve as a stray cat skittled by.
You smacked his arm as he laughed at you.
“Remind me again why we’re doing this?” You hissed.
“Because we can see the stars from the top of the jungle gym,” he said, as if it was a perfectly reasonable explanation. You sighed, gripping his sleeve tighter as you made your way towards the playground together.
Jungkook climbed up the jungle gym first, reaching a hand down to help you up, before settling in on the top of the jungle gym, leaning back and looking up at the star-filled sky. You had to admit, it was a beautiful view. And the night air was helping ease your anxieties about (ex’s name).
“So, wanna tell me what was keeping you awake?” Jungkook asked, quirking a brow at you in his signature way that both made you want to open up to him about everything and anything, and smack him.
“(ex’s name) and I fought again today.”
Jungkook bit his lower lip, averting his gaze as he picked at a lose piece of rubber on the sole of his sneaker.
“I think it’s finally over between us. Which should feel freeing. He was a jerk. But I just can’t stop thinking about the things he said to me tonight. I know they aren’t true, but….it’s just hard to remind myself of that.”
“Y/N....you know he’s an ass, right?”
“Yeah, I do. I don’t know why I kept getting back with him all those times. But this time I’m finally done. I can’t go back to him after the things he said to me. And they weren’t just said in anger, it felt like he was unloading a whole bunch of horrid things he’s secretly harbored about me the entire relationship. He told me that he hated how I was always clinging to him when he kept trying to shake me away, and that he hated the way I sang along to the radio and the way I nibble on the end of my pens when I study and….god. So many little things about me, he said he hated. And I just…I’m trying to not let it get to me, but it is.”
Jungkook pursed his lips as if really thinking hard about something, before wrapping his arm around you and drawing you to his side, “Hey, Y/N. He doesn’t know what he’s talking about. And you ‘clung’ to him all those times simply because you love very deeply. One of these days, you’ll find someone who sees that as beautiful. As well as the way you sing along to the radio, and chew on your pens. Okay? It may not feel like it right now, but I promise you.”
“You can’t promise something like that.”
Jungkook tucked a strand of your hair behind your ear, “Look at the stars,” he said, suddenly changing the subject, “I knew we’d be able to see them from up here.”
“This is your special place to come and think, isn’t it?”
“Yeah. I come here a lot lately.”
“Thank you for bringing me here, Jungkook.”
“Of course, Y/N. And I meant it when I said (ex’s name) doesn’t know what he’s talking about. You know in your heart he’s wrong, right?” You nodded, tucking your head closer against his shoulder, “Good. And you know whenever you can’t sleep - rather it’s because of him, or anything else, you can always text me, and I’ll come as soon as I can and we can just sit like this, or explore, or whatever you need that moment, okay?”
You nodded, “Thank you, Jungkook.”
“Of course. C’mon, it’s getting late and you really need to get some rest.”
“The stars really are very pretty here.”
“They are.” Jungkook reached for your hand, helping you down from the jungle gym, but didn’t let go once you were both settled back on the ground. Instead, he held your hand comfortingly in his as you made your way back to campus.
“Remember when Tae tried to do that skateboard trick on that railing?” Jungkook asked, pointing to a stair railing. You winced at the memory.
“Why on earth did he think he could do that with absolutely zero experience?”
“Remember when you were fussing at him the entire time, but got him ice cream from the cafeteria anyway?”
“He deserved a treat,” you pouted, “He skinned his elbow!”
Jungkook laughed, “You always are doing little things like that. Fussing after everyone, but in this really super loving way. Even if we don’t always deserve it. Oh! And there’s that tree we were studying against the other week. You saw that pigeon staring at you and begging for a bite of your sandwich, so you gave him this huge bite because you said you couldn’t ignore his ‘puppy-dog-eyes.’ Y/N….it was a fucking pigeon. But you still felt bad for it and wanted to give it a treat.”
“It was being cute!” You defended.
“And here,” Jungkook stopped in front of the science building on the way to the dorms, “is where you ran across campus that day freshman year to bring me my report I had forgotten in your dorm. You were late to your own class and were a sweaty, gross mess, but you ran all the way to bring it to me.”
“Gross,” you wrinkled your nose, “Can we not talk about what a sweaty, gross mess I was?”
Jungkook grinned, dropping your hand to wrap an arm around your shoulders, pulling you towards him, “The point is, you do all these incredible, wonderful, kind things. You do so many things with such love. And one of these days, you’ll find someone who notices them, and loves you for them. I’m sorry (Ex’s name) wasn’t that person for you.”
You rested your head on his shoulder, breathing in the smell of his cologne as you continued your walk back to the dorms. Something stirred in your stomach as the dorm grew nearer, and you realized you didn’t want the night to end.
“Thank you, Jungkook. For saying that.”
“Of course, Y/N. Well, here we are. Home Sweet Home.”
“Thank you for taking me out tonight, Jungkook, and getting me out of my head for a bit.”
“Of course, Y/N. Any time. You can always text me, you know that, right?”
“You too.”
There was a sudden silence that fell between you, one you’d never experienced with him before. It was time to head inside, you’d said your goodbyes. As you’d turned towards the door, you suddenly turned back, rushing back to him and wrapping your arms around him in the biggest hug, pressing a soft kiss to his cheek.
“What was that for?” He asked when you pulled back, a blush blooming across his cheeks.
“I just wanted to,” you said, still stunned yourself by what you’d just done. You knew you needed to head inside before things got awkward and weird. Jungkook was your best friend in the entire world. You’d literally just broken up with your ex. Your timing could not have been worse, and you felt terrified that you’d somehow messed so many things up between you. Just as you were about to head inside, Jungkook called -
“Hey, Y/N. Do it again sometime.”
Biting your bottom lip to suppress your smile, you nodded before heading back inside. You definitely would. When you’d given yourself healthy time to get over your ex, when you and Jungkook spent more time together as something more, getting to know one another in that way, you would do it many, many, many times.
The first would come in a few weeks, sitting on top of the jungle gym, staring at the stars. Even in the dark, you could see the pink blooming across his cheeks.

BBC Radio 1 and BBC Radio 2 join forces to bring Niall Horan and Anne-Marie together for BBC Children in Need’s 2021 official single
BBC Radio 1 and BBC Radio 2 announced that they are bringing together global superstars, Niall Horan and Anne-Marie, to reimagine a Radio 2 classic - Everywhere by Fleetwood Mac - and give it a Radio 1 twist for this year’s official BBC Children in Need single.
The charity single, available for pre-order now, will be released by Atlantic Records on the day of the charity’s fundraising spectacular, Friday 19 November to raise vital funds to help support children and young people across the UK facing disadvantage, at a time when they need it most.
Everywhere (BBC Children in Need) will be released on Friday as The Zoe Ball Breakfast Show on Radio 2 and The Greg James Breakfast Show on Radio 1 bring the stations together for the first broadcast.
The accompanying video will be given its exclusive debut during BBC Children in Need’s 2021 Appeal Show on BBC One that evening. The special video features a number of surprise cameos from a supergroup of world-renowned artists, including Ed Sheeran on guitar, Griff on synths and Yungblud on bass. The music video was directed by Phill Deacon who produced the multi-artist Radio 1 Live Lounge Allstars video for their cover of Foo Fighters’ Times Like These and the charity’s 2020 single, Stop Crying Your Heart Out.
Niall Horan, says: “I have supported BBC Children in Need many times over the years, but given what we have all been through over the last year and a half, it feels more important than ever. Togetherness sits at the heart of BBC Children in Need, and that’s what this track is all about. I hope people enjoy it, but above all, I hope it lets anyone who might be struggling right now know that we are here for them.”
Anne-Marie comments: “As we have seen over the past eighteen months, amazing things happen when we come together to help make a difference, and that’s why I am so proud to be releasing this special track with Niall. I hope everyone loves it as much as we do.”
Christine McVie, who wrote Everywhere, comments on the track, saying: “I’m thrilled with this new version of Everywhere and to be part of this year’s Children in Need campaign. I hope we can really make a difference.”
Tommy Nagra, Director of Content at BBC Children in Need, says: “BBC Children in Need is all about coming together and to have our two biggest pop stations collaborate to bring an eclectic mix of artists, covering an iconic track, is truly special. Thank you for creating what will be a real treat for our Appeal Day on Friday 19 November.”
