Hey, I started reading Robin son of Batman because of your recommendation (I literally have a print of your post on my phone to not forget lol). Honestly? One of the best things I ever read!!!

Thank you for opening my eyes! Damian has been one of my favorite characters for over a year, but I didn't read/watch much of him because of school, life (and probably an executive dysfunction in the mix).

Maya is incredible. I loved her.

I haven't finished all the issues yet, but do you have any other recommendations?

You were the first person in this entire program who spoke of your frustrations. I felt less alone."

lotr was rewriting entire generations' brain chemistry long before asoiaf and so obviously it's not fair to compare any post-lotr fantasy novel to it, and each book series was trying to do different things within their own spheres and so that also is not a fair comparison, but in terms of the cultural impact of the adaptations that came out within a decade of each other, saying that it was game of thrones that made fantasy mainstream is baffling

I have seen people mock the style of the prose as too homestuck adjacent and clearly written by someone who also writes fic. First of all I'm like...if you hate those things so much, I've got bad news for you about 75% of the queer sff getting written these days! I think it's actually fair not to enjoy that style but I do also notice the lines people usually point to are either silly gideon navisms which you either find endearing or you don't but they're clearly a character choice, not a feature of the basic narration of the series. OR they're melodramatic lines spoken by necromancers and cavaliers about each other which I think sometimes people mistake as the author trying to be straightforwardly romantic versus portraying the dramatic emotions of these young queer people who are genuinely not okay + the ways their society is set up to require this kind of over the top devotion from them. Tazmuir does have fun with the drama and I love that about her writing but it's a more thoughtful choice than it might appear at first glance, imo

The lackluster romance and overemphasised 'love triangle' in The Hunger Games movies makes more sense when you frame it as Peeta's hijacked memories after the war.

Katniss being super cold towards him? The terrible cave scene? The emotionless 'I need you' on the beach? The general lack of chemistry between them? All the Gale angst?? Peeta's entire character being reduced to a damsel in distress and very much feeling like a spare part??? But then, open it up- the wallpaper is an eyesearing red, so vivid in shade that it leaves afterimages. Something you wouldn't be able to see when the laptop was closed unless you used it for violence.

Mystery Gear weapons are designed for being overanalyzed as symbols. This thing represents Zexion. What’s the red wallpaper imply then, huh? Mr. “Intellectual with no room for feelings”?
