My Old Fanfic
The courtyard was filled with people, all the way up to the brim. People flocked here and there, filling the whole thing. Tadashi had wanted to stay here, and sit under the tree. He'd spotted Sakurayashiki Kaoru and Nanjo Kojiro sitting there, so that would have been beyond unbearably awkward. Even though Ainnosuke-sama and the others had forgiven each other, and became friends once again, Tadashi barely knew them, and things would still be weird.
Besides, Ainnosuke-sama wanted to go straight to their dorm, and there was nothing Tadashi could say to dismiss that. He followed his master obediently down the straight path, and into the building.
They'd attracted a lot of attention along the way. Not the kind of attention where you get talked to, or openly laughed at, but the kind of attention where you're stared at. Of course they attracted a lot of attention. Ainnouske-sama was young, rich, and definitely well-known. Some people gawked, some people whispered, and some people snickered.
Ainnosuke-sama ignored them all. He continued on their path, and Tadashi - of course - followed after him. Once they got into the building, things got quieter. There was rarely anyone inside the school at all before classes started, and it was highly likely that the two of them were the only ones in the hallway. As they passed a window, out of pure curiosity, Tadashi peeked outside the window, and caught a single glance outside.
Everyone who'd stopped and stared, were back to doing what they'd been doing before. No one looked unusual, or stood out. It was like a ripple, passing through the water. Once it was through and gone, everything went back to normal. Tadashi and Ainnosuke-sama were the ripple(though much less Tadashi), and the people stopping and staring, whispering, or snickering, were the water.
Some people were still whispering and snickering, but most were normal once again. That was ordinary in all of Tadashi's life. Even after the ripple was gone, it took a few seconds to settle down. That was only a few seconds, though. Soon enough, everyone was back to normal.
     Normal.
All his life, Tadashi had been the ripple - or rather, the ripple's shadow. Ainnosuke-sama was the ripple. He was in the front of magazines and advertisements, and there Tadashi always was, trailing right behind him all the time.
     He was always the shadow.
To be honest, he didn't mind. A life of trailing behind - being the shadow, not the spotlight - was just perfect for Tadashi. He'd preferred if his master was a little less bad tempered, but to be honest, be didn't expect much from rich people to begin with.
The hallways were filled with tapestries and banners. "Welcome to _______ college!" "Hope you have a nice stay!" "Gym(arrow pointing right) Library(arrow pointing left)." and other things like that. They walked past those.
The doors were a dark mahogany brown, and there was a gold plaster saying whatever room was beyond the door. Like a gym, or science, or French. Underneath it would say the Teacher's name. The first initial, and full last name. They walked past these as well.
They walked past all sorts of things. Graffiti littered across the bathroom walls and on the stairway. There was mostly on the outside of the school walls, but also inside of it. Sometimes, even on the floor. It in itself was rare, though.
Finally, they reached the stairway they'd been making for all along. It was long and dark. The lights were off, and they didn't know where they were, so Ainnosuke-sama started climbing without searching for it. Tadashi - as usual - followed right behind him.
The stairs were long and rickety. They creaked and groaned, and Tadashi wondered if the school was low on funds. It was popular, and rumoured to be great with being taught. Many people who graduated had successful futures, and they came back to boast about it. No one had ever talked about the quality of the school itself, and from the outside it didn't look like it was falling apart, so no one would have guessed.
That didn't matter much, though, and everyone knew it. The school wasn't literally falling apart, so no one was getting hurt. If the school was actually any good as it'd always been talked about, then all of this would be worth it. The money, the effort, the bruises. Almost everything.
Their room was #555. It was the same as any other door, and Tadashi pushed the door open and led Ainnosuke-sama in after checking the paper one last time. When he went in, Ainnosuke headed straight to the bed right away. Tadashi didn't spend any time looking around much, either. He looked for the microwave, bent down, and put their food into it.
The college was going to feed them, but they'd brought a bunch of food, and Tadashi would go shopping for more as the school day progressed. His aunts were insistent on not having the college's food, so he was just going to have to cook. He'd done it before, and had gotten praised by Ainnosuke-sama, which was impressive, so he wasn't worried too much.
When Tadashi was done, he started heading to the other bed, which was in the other room. While he passed by the bed his master was lying on, firm arms wrapped around his waist. He could feel his cheeks going red as his master nestled his head on Tadashi's hip bone. As he remembered treacherous nights spent lying in his master's arms, comforted by something he shouldn't even be doing, but...
they'd already gotten over that now, hadn't they?
"Where are you going?" Ainnosuke-sama asked. His voice sounded scratchy and sore.
Tadashi didn't have time to reply before his master pulled him into a sweeping embrace. He pulled him close, arms wrapped around his waist, legs entangled between each other. Ainnosuke and Tadashi watched each other, watched every single blink the eye, every single flutter of the eyes, every single flinch and reposition. Then, Tadashi tried to pull away, his cheeks burning. He'd spent to much time already in his embrace.
Ainnosuke only pulled him back. Tadashi was too tempted to pull away again. The feel of face against chest, of arms wrapped around arms, legs wrapped in and between legs.
It was another of those moments where they were comfortable, right about to fall into deep sleep right there, right in the embrace of each other, when they were interrupted.
The lights went off. The heater and AC weren't working either, lord only knows why both of them were on at the same time. Tadashi could hear it visibly diminish, and soon it was pin drop silence. Ainnosuke-sama didn't say anything - didn't even stare at him expectantly - but he didn't need him to say anything. He knew what to do without being asked.
Tadashi walked up to the light and flipped it. Ainnosuke-sama tried to stop him, but he pulled away quickly. Nothing happened, not even after a few seconds. Then, Tadashi flipped it a second time, third, fourth, and fifth time. "Something's happened." He muttered, more to himself, but Ainnosuke-sama answered him.
"Come here." Ainnosuke-sama whispered, staring at him from the bed. His eyes bore into his soul, looking deep into his body and mind. Tadashi knew what his master wanted - he always knew what he wanted. He just, for once, didn't want to give it to him.
Walking over to the bed, he sat at the edge. His hands unconsciously clenched the blankets, and he stared anywhere except at his master. He frowned into the empty space that was the sky outside the window, until a hand was placed on top of his. He flinched, and his hands automatically loosened at the feel of another hand on his own.
"I'm sorry." Ainnosuke-sama whispered. Tadashi only had a moment to wonder why he, the master, was apologising to him, the servant before strong arms wrapped around his torso, and his master's head was pressed into his neck. "If I did anything to annoy you, I'm sorry. I'll make it up to you. Don't be mad at me, please."
Tadashi was stunned for a second at his master pleading to him like this. Then, he was embarrassed. He was over exaggerating. He turned around and sunk into his master- his lover's embrace. As his lover kissed the top of his head, he whispered, "It just feels wrong. Like I'm doing something wrong. This - us - shouldn't be a master and his servant. Right now, I should be-"
Ainnosuke looked him straight in the eye. "Listen to me. You're not my servant, and I'm not your master. We're- we're lovers." He pulled him to his chest again, and when he felt Tadashi's arms around his body - felt him pressing his face to his chest, he lay down on the bed. They lay side by side, head to chest, lips to hair, arms to arms, legs to legs, chest to stomach.
"I love you, always." Ainnosuke whispered firmly, and Tadashi believed that.
