*slams eighth shot of whiskey* okay listen i gotta get this out before more episodes come out, invalidating it all, but can we TALK about the adjusted dynamics of the lovesquare, stick to the end for me losing my mind about ladrien

I never read the bible so no spoilers there, but spoilers for the tfou apocalypse up through elation/exaltation

Ladynoir. The classic. The OG.

We're in a unique position with them because, Ladynoir has historically had 2 distinct dynamics: 1 when Ladybug thought Chat Noir was just flirting and he thought he had a chance, and one when she knew he loved her, and he knew she didn't.

When she was oblivious, it was flirt central! it was cute! light! fun! In the second, it was sad (we the audience knew that lb DID in fact love cn back, just, behind the mask. yakno, the classic, the og) and somewhat frustrating bc we wanted CN to chill tf out, which, eventually, he did, all the while still loving his lady

Now? NOW???? Y'all it's BOTH

Chat Noir doesn't KNOW (yet) that Ladybug is in love with him. He just thinks she's flirting, or testing him.

But Ladybug DOES know. She KNOWS he doesn't love her. When CN was in this phase, flirting to an oblivious LB, he still had hope that she would love him or at least he lived for the moments she flirted back, but NOW?? Ladybug knows!!! She knows exquisitely that CN does not love Ladybug anymore. (even though we AND LB know that he does love her, just behind the mask)

It's just such a beautiful reversal chefs kiss mwah

I basically just keep thinking of that sad look CN gave her when Glaciator was screaming about how CN should love LB, and that little comforting pet she gave him. Tears.

Tbh team? I'm not sure where this one will go! Don't have a lot to say about it that the show hasn't already. Adrien fell for Marinette hook line and sinker, we all saw it coming we're all just happy to be here. Marinette is afraid to love him and "no alya he's just a friend" I'm just thrilled to see where this goes

(especially now that Adrien has kissed Marinette???? AND that he knows she doesn't love him anymore??? I Am All In)

(but also we the viewers have just a little drop of sadness/frustration too in this because, like, We Know!!! we've been here the whole time!! You DUMMIES YOU LOVE EACH OTHER and this is RIDICULOUS and UNNECESSARILY TRAGIC just LKAJSD;FLKJ anyway)

Marichat. Okayokayokayokayokayokayokayokay

In Ye Olden Dayes, Marichat was the sin ship. But even before that, it was always the side of the square where there was no performance, no pretension, just two people who were friends (but didn't know how good) hanging out with lots of chemistry but no blushing.

But now WWHHHHHHOOOOOOOOOOO BOOI I mean the fact that marichat was the first side to consensually, of sound mind, and in the canon timeline, kiSS is bonkers to me, congrats to taylordraws for predicting the future I guess

But! Now!!!! They love each other!! If they're ever around each other again it's going to be a bluSHING NIGHTMARE especially since them being together caused Marinette to almost get akumatized, and that they both understand it can't work, there'S THAT HINT OF SADNESS r u sensing a theme

But okay, that thing I just said 20 words ago, them being a blushing nightmare, it's because this is the side that's in love with each other. Marinette < - > Chat Noir it's a two way door okay and that's what ladrien used to be and what ladrien was based on. But now we have the ladrien dynamic + sads + MORE KNOWLEDGE + EVEN MORE DRAMATIC IRONY and frankly I'm alive

Ladrien. *smashes whiskey glass on floor and screams*

FOLKS. WHEN I TELL YOU. I AM FROTHING AT THE MOUTH FOR LADRIEN CONTENT NOW MORE THAN EVER let me tell u why

I'm a longtime Ladrien stan. I just think they're neat. I just think they should kiss. A li'l smooch. The first fic I ever wrote for this fandom was a ladrien "almost kiss UST" one shot.

But now? NOW??

Ladrien is now the Marichat dynamic. Marichat and Ladrien have flipped. Before, Ladrien was the two way love street, and Marichat was the platonic "no pretenses" street. Now, Marichat has taken on Ladrien's vibe (with some extra Sadness TM), so what has Ladrien become?

You'd think, oh it's just marichat now, no pretenses, they know they don't love each other, easy, *kisses you on the mouth* NO.

Picture this. Ladrien bathroom balcony scene. Or Ladybug saves Adrien. Whatever. All the reasons the show has given us for our heroes/civilians to interact outside their partnerships. With Marichat, they're cursed by knowledge. They know they love the other, but that the other doesn't love them (or so they think). With Ladrien, there's no such curse.

For Adrien? He looks at Ladybug, the girl he used to love. Used to. Past tense. All those pictures on his phone, his silly date ideas, his puns and flirting, that's all in the past now. She made it clear she doesn't love him back, and besides, he loves someone else now. He'll always love her like a friend, of course, she's his best friend, but... anything else is too hard.

For Ladybug? She looks at Adrien. The boy she used to love. She probably still does a little bit but it's different now. How it used to be, all that flailing around, the ridiculous schemes, the presents, the obsession, that's done. He might think he loves her now, but, no, she loves someone else. Outside of the mask, she's still his friend, of course, but, how it was before? It was just too hard.

Basically: THE BIG SADS. These two are exes, they're forlorn lovers, they're each other's "one that got away." But without either of them truly knowing why, or how, or even with the benefit of a real "we were together, now we're apart." These two moved past their unrequited love for each other through sheer force of will and lack of communication and now... now what are they?

Mai you have opened the biggest can of worms

Ok listen, listen, right off the bat it's Kwami Swap ok? Ladynoire and Mister Bug, but also Le Filou and Tortuvelle (you can figure those two out ;) and more!

With that comes some dynamic swapping of course. Adrien has a huge crush on Marinette and refuses to tell her, yet flirts with her constantly. Laugh machine, is never serious. Mister Bug on the other hand is Serious and sometimes standoffish. Can be short with Ladynoire but respects her and admires her courage in battle. Struggles with thinking outside the box regarding his Lucky Charms. Mister Bug is dedicated to the people of Paris and doing what's right without hesitation (to a fault) Tikki is a great resource for keeping Adrien on track as a civilian because he can be easily distracted by small issues.

Marinette is a nervous ball of anxiety and Plagg does his best to show her that chaos can be a good thing. She is desperately in love with Mister Bug and tells him constantly as Ladynoire. She is much more open to being a force of destruction knowing that the Lucky Charm will undo all of the damage she causes. Sometimes you have to break things to fix them. Plagg loves her dearly and wishes he could help er more.

Lovesquare now consists of Mister Noire, Adrienette, Ladrien, and Maribug (sorry, that's the best I could do). Mister Noire is very one sided from Ladynoire, Mister Bug ignores and rebuffs most of her advances. Will sometimes smooch. Adrienette is mutual pining honestly, they are just too dumb to confess. Ladrien is friendly and sweet! Adrien appreciates getting to know Ladynoire without the devotion and Ladynoire enjoys spending time with Adrien that's not school or bakery focused. Maribug is Marichat 2.0 and I will not apologize.

Some episodes are moved around for my version. For example, Lady Blanc replaces Befana in season 2, Dearest Family happens in season 1 and Chloe doesn't get her Miraculous until season 3 (but she actually earns it this time) Luka gets his during Captain Hardrock and Juleka gets hers during Princess Fragrance. Also none of them get their canon miraculous :D if you squint hard enough you might be able to guess which ones they get but don't worry if you cant, I'm not making it super obvious.

Holy crap I hope that makes sense. I've been thinking about and planning this for months.

I will make a separate post regarding Hawkmoth and Mayura and how that works because oh man it's heartbreaking. They are the only non swap right now but that could change.

Let's call it... Color Theory AU because colors have a lot to do with it and the post regarding GabeNath and HawkMura will explain it better

What if after the lovesquare reveal and before they start dating, Adrien is 3000x more flirty and affectionate with Marinette???

- The only reason they don’t date right away is because Marinette forgets to confess her feelings for him and accidentally friendzones him for the umpteenth time. So Adrien makes it a mission to woo her.

- He’d greet Marinette with a HUGE bear hug every time he sees her and kiss her cheeks, so much happiness radiating from him that Alya swears she gets blinded by him.

- He always needs to be in some sort of physical contact with her; whether it’s holding her hand, looping their elbows together, an arm around her waist or even clinging onto her like the stupidly in love kitten he is.

- He would send her funny memes and videos all the time, his heart turning to goo every time he makes her smile or laugh.

- Boy loves doing a kabedon. An absolute weeb. Though, 99% of the outcome is Marinette squishing his cheeks out of annoyance.

- As Chat Noir, the hand kisses with Ladybug increases by tenfolds (as impossible it may seem~).

- Their dynamic is still full of banter and teasing, but it’s also so much more stronger and loving, especially with him dropping more heartfelt lines:

“I’m doing much better now that you’re here, Marinette,”

“I’m not as embarassed when I get to hear you laugh like that, My Lady,”

“Just staying by your side is more than enough for me, ma Princesse,”

- Though, as sweet as he can be, he’s also using all the seducing techniques he could think of so that Marinette will finally kiss him senseless~ >:D ESPECIALLY WHEN HE FINDS OUT THAT THEIR FEELINGS ARE MUTUAL >:DDDDD (cheers Alya and Nino)

- He’d give her that mischievous look whenever she’s a bit flustered around him and say things like:

“If you keep acting like that around me, I wouldn’t be able to resist...”

“You want me to shut up and stop teasing you? There is a way to do that, Marinette~”

“That shade of lip-gloss looks good on you. But, I think it would look just as good on me~ ;)”

“Apparently being kissed on the neck feels good. Wanna try~? ,’:D”

“Think about us having children together often, Buguinette~?”

- The lads in the class are always subjected to Adrien waxing poetry about Marinette. Sometimes they help him out in trying to get together with her. All their shenanigans ends up in a huge disaster because come on, Adrien is the host of the power of destruction.

- Whenever someone points out how much of a cute couple Adrien and Marinette are, instead of telling them that they aren’t dating, the stupid cat would always say things like:

“I know right~?”

“Oh you got my poor girlfriend all flustered~~~”

“Marinette? My girlfriend? Nah, she’s just my wife~ :))))”

- He absolutely loooooves teasing her. Whether it be poking her about her height, pulling funny faces when he wants her attention and even getting her all blushy~ UwU

“If you don’t want me resting my arms over your head then don’t be short, simple~ :)”

“Ma-aaaaaa-riiiiiii-neeeeete ;A; Stop overworking yourself and cuddle with me! <3333″

“Why stay after school to do class president stuff when we can go on a date~???”

“Of course I’d bring your favourite coffee over~ I. Love. You. <3333″

“What do you mean I have to stop sneaking up on you? That’s no fun ;-;”

“Oho? Inviting me, a boy, to your room~? Just the two of us? How scandalous, I love it~”

“You’ve been eyeing that wedding dress quite a lot. How about it, let’s runaway and get married? :)))”

“Telling me to stop teasing you is like telling Plagg to stop eating cheese,”

“Oh? Buguinette, I’m confused on this magazine’s quiz. It’s saying how did my first kiss go. Do I put down that time you kissed the evil out of me when Kim was akumatised as Dislocoeur? Or when we got hit by Oblivio? Or when you landed one on me when I was pretending to be a statue- WHAT DO YOU MEAN THEY DON’T COUNT!? OF COURSE THEY DO.”

- Since he’s over at the Dupain-Cheng’s residence regularly, along with Alya and Nino, they often help out in the bakery. Whenever Adrien’s working at the till, a lot of customers ask what he’s doing working at the bakery. Everyone (whilst Marinette’s too busy blushing in the corner) responds proudly that he’s the future son-in-law.

- As we know, personal space doesn’t exist for Adrien. Marinette has a fever? He’ll get up in her face and lean his forehead against hers to check. Marinette accidentally hurt herself? He’ll be an absolute worrywart, checking her all over and babbling if she’s okay. Adrien is tired and sleepy? Too bad for Marinette, she’s his pillow now.

“A-Adrien- I’m fine. You don’t need to check my temperature like that-”

“But you’re all red in the face, ma Princesse-”

“That’s cos you’re too close!”

- Finally, Marinette musters up all her courage and kisses him silly. Literally as soon as he pulls a subtle kabedon on her, she grabs him by the shirt and SMOOCHES.
