Ok so I think it’s about time we address the issue of using the phrase “all men are trash” and “k*ll all men” or similar. Please reblog/share if you agree.

Now I might get a lot of hate for this by people who use this “joke”, but it needs to be said. I’m sorry that you have experienced trauma, but that is no excuse to use this harmful saying. Maybe at first it was a “joke”, but now it has evolved to more than that. It scares people, and harms them mentally. Men’s mental health is already an issue. We don’t need more reason to hide our own traumas and mental health from people. We are more sensitive than you think. After all, it’s the 21st century now, but these old views of men are damaging. Stereotyping all men as evil is harmful and detrimental to our mental health.

Of course there are shitty men, but there are also shitty women. Women who r*pe and harass men. But by law only a man is capable of this. THIS IS NOT THE CASE!!! Women are just as capable of this as men, but it is less recognised. I understand that your experiences have been traumatic, and of course all your feelings are valid. You might be more wary of men, especially when it comes to s*x, and that’s ok. But do NOT take it out on a whole gender group. Do NOT attack the rest of us for being men. We respect your boundaries, we respect that you’re dealing with an awful trauma. Not all of us are like that. So don’t use the word “all”.

I am dating a boy. He is the sweetest person i’ve ever met. We are both trans. People who say that trans men “don’t count” make me feel as tho i am not a valid man. I know this isn’t your intention, but it makes me feel like shit.

Loving men isn’t wrong. Liking them isn’t wrong. Getting short crushes on them isn’t wrong. Never ever ever make anyone feel shit for liking men or being a man. It leads to lots of internalised homophobia and transphobia. We should be allowed to love ourselves and other men without this internal struggle. For a long time I tried to force myself to like girls. Both me and my boyfriend have only been able to accept that we are gay very recently. Seeing these posts make us feel awful. Our mental health isn’t great. I have anxiety, and I am prone to p*nic attacks. Seeing these posts makes my state worse. I have only just started to recover. I know this guy online and his cis friend is scared to leave his house because of it.

Do NOT “joke” about how “all” men are trash.

Do NOT post content that is harmful to our mental health. So DON’T “joke” about how unfortunate it is that you like men.

Do NOT tell trans men that they don’t count, it can make some of us feel like indirect invalidation

Please please please remember that we are sensitive, do NOT tell us that we can’t be offended by something.

Do NOT take your past experiences out on the whole gender.

Do NOT make men feel bad for being men and liking men. Do NOT make anyone feel bad for liking men.

So to all women and non-binary people who use this, regardless of your sexuality, please be aware of the effect it has had. Please take this into account before posting it. Before wishing you weren’t into men, or being grateful that you aren’t. Before spreading this unintentionally hateful message. Please think how it might affect people.

Please don’t comment or reblog if you’re going to be hateful.
