Happy March 1st (2nd now cause I fucked up and hit post limit yesterday)! Thus ends Wikipedia Swear Jar February with a grand total of 156 swears said on stream!

I’m kind of tempted to take a few comms in a very fast doodly style for cheap in a “these are like $5-$15 or something, just grayscale or gradient mapped, and you get what you get” format to make for some easier work amid slower comm season and people tend to like these, but I gotta figure out what would work for that brush-wise first hrm

I’ll probably also have back to school sales on my general comms, because I have a lot of free time lately.

If you’ve bought doodle-y comms before, feel free to tell me what kind of rendering/brushes you like best for this (ex. Brush pen, standard non-textured pens, ballpoint, cleaned sketches in general, chibis specifically, whatever)

Basically whenever you see something that gives evidence which makes you think "yeah, exactly! I always knew it!" you should look more into it.

This is re: the calorie post I just reblogged, but is also about that post from a year or two ago where people were like:

"LOOK THIS STUDY BLATANTLY SAYS NO DIETING EVER WORKS, YOU CANT LOSE WEIGHT FROM CHANGES IN FOOD INTAKE"

and the conclusion of the study was like "after studying these 8 fad diets we concludesd that the rate of weight loss evens out after 18 months"

so people were literally just straight up lying, and everyone reblogging it thought "this person says this study proves what I already think is true (that dieting can't work), so it must be true"

#like. a) dieting =/= fad diets. #b) yeah actually. dieting does work. for many people. like there are quite many people who lost weight due to diet and exercise. #c) the fact that dieting works doesnt mean that fatphobia is okay or something. both things can be true. #and like... links between things are very often WAY more complicated than it seems. theres always like 5 more factors #like to someone racist if they hear “this study shows schools in black-dominated areas achieve lower test scores and have fewer students #that receive academic scholarships“ theyre gonna be like ”YEAH SEE? BLACK PPL ARE STUPID“ #when really a) test scores dont measure intelligence b) black dominated areas tend to be low income areas which have i) overworked teachers #ii) kids have life issues that impact their schoolwork. eg lack of food and housing security or violence. #iii) lack of things like free tutoring after school programs #iiii) lack of resources for students with disabilities (which are common in low income areas for MORE reasons) #c) scholarship committees that arent specifically devoted to affirmative action are often super racist #like... its not just racists or whoever that make these connections due to bias and lack of critical thinking. everyone does it. #including me and you.

tbh I am unbelievably lucky that my disability caused me to drop out of college back in August. I can’t imagine being a Jewish college student rn.

my friend i wish i knew. i do not know what country you are coming to me from but here in the united states of hell, i feel only rage when i think about how university is free in some countries. like rn in graduate horror funhouse college, i just paid for a semester where the line items for cost were "credits" + "fees". tf am i paying for here. give me a line item breakdown. tell me exactly where my money is going so i feel empowered as a student!!

i am sorry you are in the thick of it, you have my greatest sympathies. if you have to take out federal student aid, my main recommendation is whenever you have to call their customer service line to get some nonsense bullshit sorted out, be really careful about what you dial bc one time i misdialed my student loan servicer by one number and ended up on the phone with a sex line call center. the psychic damage i took was immense. "hey handsome thank you for calling [name of the sex line call center i forgot what it was], are you touching yourself? would you like to be?" "this is not my federal student aid loan service customer help line......is it??" and it wasn't.

#no but you are so valid for being mad. go get that college degree and then tear down the system that made you pay for it #imho state and community colleges and trade schools should be 100% free and paid for by the government #and private colleges should be empowered to assist as many first gen students and low income students as possible #and my hottest take? every school - EVERY SCHOOL - should provide ample subsidized housing for at least 1/3-1/2 of all students #including designated subsidized and/or free housing for returning students and adult students with families of multiple kids #that's a rant for another day lmao #anyway i am so sorry you are in sicko mode!! stunt on those hoes #cage replies #anon
