Some notes and associations on altruism from the day.
Altruism doesn’t mean you don’t have self interests. Altruism isn’t free. Freud didn’t believe in its existence, reaction formation was his bag. Altruism breeds suspicion. Crimes, the most heinous, are committed under its banner. Think of the savage slaughtered and brought to heel to the slave owners God, to altruistically save his soul. Altruism can be cheap. It can be beautiful it can lift you up, or reveal your true nature. Altruism cuts off learning and self guided growth. Fosters dependency yet saves lives. It’s not to be trusted, but offered ubiquitously and without reservation or hope of return.
ABOVE LINK IS FOR WHOMADEWHO’S LIVE SET THIS MORNING FROM THE EGYPT DESERT.
I love these boys and their sound. I am so happy they did this set and that they did this set with Cercle. It was worth the 5am NYC time watch. I CAN”T WAIT FOR LIVE SHOWS AGAIN.
“Then raise your flag. Declare independence, don’t let them do it to you.” Thank you Björk
For all those long days at the office can only be soothed by the inspired’s willingness.
