Do you have any ideas for a rival model kid for Adrien, who match his popularity?

There is one I can think of.

A boy around Adrien's age, modelling for a rival company (a made up one or for Audrey's brand/magazine/whatever) who transfers into the MiracuClass.

Aside from New Boy's modelling commitments, he has more free time than Adrien and has A Hobby which lines up nicely with some of the class' hobbies. So he spends time in clubs and hanging out with the other students, making fast friendships and deep connections. He is Not a hero so he doesn't have to run around after akuma all the time, no flaking on plans for this guy.

He has a Backbone and Principles so in a situation like, say, the episode "Ladybug" he would vocally stand by Marinette and vouch for her, perhaps even winning her affection in the process.

NB's principles, kindness, interests and friendship with Marinette are a real winner, slowly pushing Adrien out of the running, to the point Adrichat catches Ladybug swooning over advertisements featuring NB.

That is the kicker. Adrien doesn't care about popularity, or Marinette's crush, or anything like that. He cares about Ladybug and Ladybug is in love with the New Boy. So begins Adrien's ever-growing dislike for NB.
