“Are you ready, my prince-to-be?” Zelda asked with a stately smile barely lifting the corners of her glossed lips, the dusting of minute glitter on her cheekbones catching the glow of the Shadow Crystal as Link raised it to his forehead, nodding—there was only one way they’d let him drink, and that’s if they didn’t know it was him (18 year-olds couldn’t drink at the biggest, baddest, most popular Rave Bar in New Castle Town, but Zelda, as usual, was smarter than him and knew how to make it happen… though someday, someone would figure out they never saw Link and the Princess’ ‘guard dog’ at the same time); Link merged with the crystal, and suddenly his glorious queen towered over him even more than she usually did, the silk of her shimmering, sleeveless, deep violet dress and nearly arm-length white gloves a pristine monument to the strength of the woman within them—Link could see her summoning her light arrows in this state, their glow illuminating the material, making her shine externally as she did within, the image blinding his mind like the purest Sun.

“Come,” she said, and his ears pricked forward as he exited the small alley at her side, remaining in step with her all the way through the line to the entrance, at which point one of several doormen stopped them to object (pets were not allowed inside)—a single hard look from his queen killed the unfinished protest despite her benevolent smile, so raw were her eyes in quiet power, and they entered unimpeded, a large corner table soon becoming theirs; Zelda slid into the rounded booth gracefully while Link leapt onto the cool leather in mixed excitement and caution (it was always possible someone might mean her harm, despite her having utterly destroyed the greatest threat Hyrule had ever faced at his side—his wolf form would be extra helpful to sniff their drinks for poison, just in case).

A server came over and wished her happy birthday with nonplussed, wide eyes (who would expect the Queen of the Realm to celebrate her 21st alone in public?) and Zelda ordered for both of them (two dry martinis with olives, and an extra, empty bowl for Link—they’d discussed this at length ahead of time and decided to start classy); when the drinks arrived, Link sniffed them with a tail wag, Zelda dutifully swept Link’s olives from their skewer and poured the drink into the bowl for him, and they each tasted at the same time, Zelda’s sidelong smile at Link containing more than mere satisfaction at its salty-sharp-floral flavor (which he also liked): It and the eyebrow flash contained a promise for later, and Link’s tail beat madly against the back of the seat.

A LEGEND'S REBIRTH

Introduction

"A Legend's Rebirth" is a LoZ AU in a modernized Hyrule. Not only is it expansive, but much of it is connected. Technology has advanced with the combined efforts of all the people of Hyrule; from trains, to slates (phones), to even vehicles.

However, this does not mean there are no adventures awaiting. Behind the peaceful realm that has moved on from Demise's Curse is one that holds entire new worlds to explore. As rifts begin to form from the thin barriers between them, it seems there is still some sections of history yet to be fulfilled...

I made the first designs for this around two years ago, but I found I like drawing/writing them so much that I may as well make a blog for them specifically.

This is not an AU of any specific game. However, characters from across multiple different games may appear. For example, characters such as Malon and Linebeck are characters present.

I tried to be sure that Hyrule was a modernized Hyrule, not a Hyrule-ized version of our world. If that makes sense.

I'm always trying to improve with my art, so styles may change here and there.

I will always answer asks. If I don't, then it was probably just a weird ask I guess?? But I encourage sending them in!

Not too long ago I heard someone say they don't have much interest in modern day/high school au fics. And honestly I don't see a ton of modern zelink fics on Archive.

I'm writing a pretty lengthy one and I'm just curious if that's an opinion largely shared across the fandom?

I know it's an individual preference thing. I'd love to get some more perspectives because it's been on my mind as I write (not that I'm going to quit, lol. I do what I want)
