Prime Minister Justin Trudeau's government unveiled details of its plan to cut $500 million from government spending Thursday — and not all departments are going to be feeling the same impacts. While some agencies like the Canadian Space Agency and the Invest in Canada Hub will see more than one per cent of their spending frozen and returned to government coffers, 61 departments and agencies don't appear on the list of government bodies taking cuts. The government said the cost-cutting initiative excluded agents of Parliament and small organizations with budgets under $25 million a year. But many of those not included on the list of organizations affected — such as the Canadian Air Transport Security Authority, the Canadian Security Intelligence Service and the National Capital Commission — have budgets much higher than $25 million.

The Conservatives Are Going to Win the Next Election
Perhaps the most remarkable responses in the Abacus poll were in answer to the question of whether the government had a “good plan, a bad plan, or no plan” to deal with a number of issues. On issue after issue – cost of living, housing, economic growth, immigration – few (25 per cent or less) were confident the government had a good plan. Larger numbers said they had a bad plan. But the largest single group in most cases believed they had no plan.
and
(Even today, while just 17 per cent of respondents told Abacus they believe the Liberals should be re-elected, another 33 per cent believe it’s “time for a change, but there isn’t a good alternative.” Still, 51 per cent believe “it’s time for a change,” whatever the alternative, which is telling enough.)
Barring anything really remarkable happening, the Conservatives are going to win. That's just the long and the short of it. The current housing crisis is just too much to overcome, and to be fair, the Liberals have done nothing at all to help. Jagmeet Singh's plan to help people is to give prospective home buyers more money, further inflating house prices and even further separating haves and have-nots. The left in this country is broken. The NDP isn't leftist, it's leftish at best.
If Poilievre has any sense, he'll ignore the transphobic and conspiracy theorist side of his party and not include the policies they voted on at the party convention. The younger people of the country are already with him, and they could rightfully make the point that while the Conservatives have some bad social policy, the lack of affordable housing affects trans people at least as badly as everyone else. It hits everyone including immigrants, people of colour, students, whatever group you could care to name. Healthcare is increasingly unavailable to everyone, let alone specialized healthcare that affirms one's gender.
It's honestly a nightmare—I don't think Conservatives will make a meaningful difference to housing in this country, but at this point people are willing to give ANYTHING a try in the hopes that things might get better, and I honestly cannot blame them.
When Stephen Harper was PM, it was easy for me to criticize the people voting for him as selfish and uninformed, willing to throw fellow citizens under the bus. But people need places to LIVE. I'm not going to castigate a 25 year old for thinking they deserve a place to rent or buy at a reasonable cost and turning to what seems to be the only port in a storm.
We knew the Liberal party was a busted, Neo-Liberal, corporatist party that threw scraps to the poor and benefitted the rich, but it's truly disappointing to see how lacklustre the NDP has been in the last couple of years.
I think we might be able to get away with a minority Conservative government if we're diligent and vote strategically, but I think that may be the best we can do.

Tulips in the morning zoom
Four Tulips, Jacquelyn Block During our art club’s Zoom with June this morning I started working on an experimental watercolor inspired by the morning’s rainy weather. While waiting for my very wet layers to dry I decided to start another of my orange ink paintings. My tulips are up and on the verge of blooming, so I used a picture from last spring to sketch out the tulip blossoms. As I was…

I haven’t been to Dilworth in three years, and that’s a long time.

The fuse is lit for fireworks in Ottawa after a Liberal member of Parliament accused Alberta Premier Danielle Smith of making false claims days before Smith is slated to appear before a federal environmental committee. Calgary MP George Chahal said Wednesday that Smith is spreading misinformation about the federal Liberal government's plans to bring Canada's electricity grid to net-zero. "Over the past several months, the premier has actively worked to undermine and misinform Albertans," Chahal said in a press conference. He pointed to Smith's claim that her decision to suspend new approvals for renewable power in the province was done at the request of rural counties, but Rural Municipalities Alberta has said it made no such request.

s. 286.4:Everyone who knowingly advertises the sale of sexual services is liable to imprisonment
Here we can Identify a glaringly obvious gap in policy. It is not illegal to provide sexual services for benefit BUT it is illegal to assist workers in advertising. The result of this particular policy forces workers outdoors and into spaces where law enforcement is not present. Now think about this from the perspective of the worker. I must go outside in obscure places to work in unsafe conditions. Not only do they have to look out for the harms of violent strangers but now workers have to look over their shoulder for cops looking to disrupt business. If I decided that I wanted to create a classifieds site that served as a safe space for workers to qualify their clients and clearly and succinctly display their services, I could be prosecuted, and the internet service provider could be prosecuted This policy makes it illegal to practice harm reduction and this ultimately becomes a human rights issue.
s. 286.4, criminalizes “everyone who knowingly advertises an offer” to sell sexual services, with the possibility of imprisonment on conviction. Sex workers are exempt from prosecution for advertising their own services.
s. 286.2(1) & (2): Everyone who receives a material benefit (Profit) knowing it was derived from the purchase of sexual services is liable to imprisonment.
s. 286.2(3): Living with a sex worker, in the absence of evidence to the contrary, is presumed to be proof of such a benefit.
Here is where the boot of the policy is firmly placed on the neck of workers, and those who care for them. Before we get into how this policy streamlines workers into exploitation let's look at how the government of Canada defines work:
What is considered work?
Work is any activity that:
you are paid to do, or
you are not paid to do but is a job that:
you would usually be paid for, or
would be valuable work experience for a Canadian citizen or permanent resident (for example, an unpaid intern).
Pay includes money or commission:
an employer gives you,
you receive for a service, or
you receive for any other activity.
By definition SEX WORK is WORK..I will say this one more time for the Incel in the back
SEX WORK IS BY DEFINITION OF YOUR GOVERNING BODY REAL WORK
And now we return to our regularly scheduled program.
