A review for The Burning Shadow by Jennifer L Armentrout . Evie never really expected that her life would be so entwined with the luxan world. After finding out that she's not Evie, that she was given this identity after she lost all her memories, it was hard for her to come to terms with it. But she got through it, accepted it. She tries to venture into her past life, trying to understand who she was and who she is now because she knows that she's not Evie. Luc is with her the whole time and they grow closer. Evie is conflicted with her feelings for Luc because she knows that he was in love with the person she used to be and she wonders if that has changed because of what happened to her. The unrest between the humans and the luxan are rapidly increasing. Innocent people were killed implicating the luxan had done it. This caused distrust among the masses. Riots and raids continued and the luxan were treated as a danger to the people. There is so much more about Evie that was a total mystery in the first book. She's something different. The serum that saved her turned her into something else. She's definitely a badass no doubt but when her powers are unlocked, turning her into a killer assassin, she forgets everything and gets down to killing whoever is in front of her. She is programmed to kill whoever she perceives as a threat. I so need the last book. The way things have ended in this book. I'm stressed out. Shocked. I cannot stop thinking whats going to happen in the next book. A review for The Darkest Star by Jennifer L Armentrout . In the Darkest Star we come back to the world of lux once again. This is the spin off story about Luc and Evie. Luc was the 15 year-old super adorable and powerful origin. I remembered him being this rich, spoiled excessively cute boy wearing that extraterrestrial highway t shirt. But boy oh boy now he's a total mc hottie.. like wow. Then we have Evie, she's a human, loves photography and she's agent Dasher's daughter. She witnessed first hand the horrors of was war between the luxan and her world completely changed. She comes across Luc and instantly she's swept into a world filled with secrets and lies. Secrets about her past are revealed that she has no recollection of, of course Luc is huge part of that past. After learning everything she felt betrayed and was having difficulty coping and understanding it but she was getting through it. Of course there's more. A deranged, psychotic origin is running around looking for revenge for what Luc did to him and he uses Evie for it. That was one hell of a fight. The ending is sweet and hopeful. Luc and Evie are so adorable and their story is definitely a fascinating one. As usual JLA has snagged my mind and captured it with her engrossing writing and storytelling. I'm so excited to see how Evie turn out to be in burning shadows because JLA never leaves her female protagonist to be just powerless. So I'm eager to witness her badassary and more of Luc too.
