she was insane for writing the secret history but the is a whole other level of genius.

my masters course has mostly come to an end. just one more essay and a summer of writing my dissertation to go 📝

working 35 hours a week plus working on my dissertation 8-12 on the weekend has absolutely crushed my heart and soul so i took a few days off to get myself back on balance a bit ⚖️

i’m almost at 6,000 words though!! only 12,000 words to go 🕰

i was away for 6 days in marrakesh and now we’re back with a bang to working full time and beginning my dissertation.

the break was well needed but i’m already so burnt out so i’m trying not to overwhelm myself as i settle into my new job (which is 9-5 but really 6-6) and settle back into college work.

it’s gonna be a very hectic summer 🐝

anyway i love making my own iced coffee and study snacks; and working where my boyfriend keeps his bass collection.

sooo excited to delve into louise glück’s “october” and ecofeminism for my final essay of the year! i have completely fallen in love with her poetry over the last month. please excuse my awful sticky notes writing 🤦‍♀️

before this essay is due i have a presentation on my dissertation to complete after the easter holidays. presentations make me incredibly anxious but at least i get to do it over microsoft teams so that should help ease things a bit (?)

at this point i just want everything to be over and done with. i am very tired 🥀

ever since i had covid in february my ability to get out of bed before 10 am has dwindled significantly. everything is just so exhausting.

today i managed to be out of bed before 8:30 and i am quite proud of myself 😌 it’s crunch time for many of us as we near the end of the semester so i decided to attempt to get my shit together for my literature review meeting later this week.

i’ve been delving into a taste for brown sugar: black women in pornography my mireille miller-young, an author i touched on for my research essay during my undergrad.

hard to believe this is my first post since 2020! on tuesday i have my first lecture in my masters in women’s studies so today i decided to get a head start on readings 📚 my brain felt so fried after a few hours but i’m trying to remain positive and not slip back into my old smoking & coffee habits too much.

we had a welcome day on campus yesterday and it felt so good to be back for a day before returning to online lectures. i was quite anxious about it but it went so well and everyone in my course seems so lovely 🧡

it’s iced coffee season at last!

this week has been hectic to say the least. the sun has kept me going as i’ve used sitting outside for hours as reward for getting things done ☀️ but imposter syndrome and burn out is beginning to set in.

i have a job trial this friday which i hope to be successful in as i’ve been stone cold broke for months now (student debt has not helped). yet i’m worried it will quicken my burn out as my anxiety peaks. guess we’ll just have to wait and see what happens 🙇‍♀️

september seems to have passed more slowly than other months this year and i’m grateful for it. i feel like since being back at (online) college has made me experience each day in full, whereas before they all blurred together.

in ireland, september is the first month of autumn and i’m remembering how much i adore the darker months of the year 🕯

feminist methodologies can be both highly interesting and tediously boring. with our first essay due in november we’re already looking at essay questions! it’s scary but it’s also exciting.

my new favourite thing is to wrap my fairy lights around my laptop during lectures. it makes everything feel so much more cosy ✨

yesterday we finished up looking at representations of gender and race in pop music performances and it’s been so interesting! the lecturer for this module is also one of my supervisors for my dissertation and so far i love her insights.

today we are moving on to ecofeminism, a topic i fell in love with during my undergrad 🌻

i spent my christmas holidays trying to relax as much as possible so that i’m fully refreshed for the busy semester ahead and now here we are at the beginning of the end!

i have been a bit disheartened at my results but i’m reminding myself that doing a masters is tough and i am doing my best.

hopefully i can boost my grades this semester and graduate with a 2:1 🦋 we’re manifesting a productive semester folks 🦋

honestly, i only did a 19 page reading and then spent the most of today being outside, enjoying the weather with my family. having days like these is good for you. my mental health is in bits, but today was a good day and it’s important to recognise that !!

tomorrow i’m going to start my home, identity and philosophy module essay and i’m excited ✨
