Good Boy~
Lucio x MC smut- extra spicy!! M/C is wild, man
Gender Neutral MC
(Disclaimer: 🍋🍋 warning!)
The door locks with a small click behind you.
Lucio didn’t even seem to hear it. He’s busy admiring himself in the large mirror he finally had installed next to his wardrobe.
Despite you entering his room and locking the door shut, he’s got his eyes fixed ahead of him like his life depended on it.
You had to admit, you couldn’t blame him- he sure looked good tonight. There’s just something about him when he wears black...
Wait, how long have you been standing here? And why hasn’t he noticed you yet? Surely he can sense someone else in the room with him- or does he just not care? Maybe he knows it’s you.
You bite your lip to keep from giggling as Lucio continues to run his hand through his hair, occasionally striking a post or primping without a care in the world.
Seriously, you think. Lucio around any old mirror was one thing, but a full-length body mirror? He’s never leaving this room again.
“Earth to Lucio,” you have to approach him from behind to get his attention- making direct eye contact with not him, but his reflection. He only smiles at the sight of you.
“Hm?” His voice perks up. “Did you say something?”
He’s giggling at his joke by the time your lips press the back of his neck.  You’re standing directly behind him, arms wrapped around his lower waist.
“What’s it going to take for me to get your attention?” You mutter the words into his skin, eyes occasionally meeting in the mirror. Your cheeky comments seem to fly over his head when he admires the two of you in the reflection.
“You look so good at my side, m/c. We’re such a damn good-looking pair.”
You can’t help but lean into the flattery- or at least, you think it’s flattery. It’s more than likely just Lucio’s way of admiring himself without sounding as self-centered as usual.
“You’re right... but I’m not at your side, I’m behind you.” You point out. “Turn around for me, dear.”
Lucio’s eyes meet yours in the mirror. He raises an eyebrow, finally seeming to notice your tone of voice. With a catty smirk, he turns his head to the side, not quite taking his eyes off himself.
“I don’t have to listen to you, you know.” He teases you with a wide, almost mocking smile. “What if I ignore you?”
Still holding on to him from behind, you snuggle as closely as you can to him, your breath soft against his ear.
“Feeling naughty tonight, I see.”
You don’t hear a response right away- you have to look in the mirror to see that he’s nearly lost his breath. He shivers when he feels your kiss along his neck, teeth gently grazing his ear. You gently trail your hands along his waist and abs, feeling the muscle through all the silk clothing. He even smells attractive, you notice. What is that scent?
“I guess you’ll just have to punish me...” Lucio can’t even try to hide the excitement in his voice.
“Maybe I will.”
Despite your overconfident tone, you nearly fumble when you try to to take his clothes off. You’re not really used to undoing his shirt buttons from behind, and honestly, part of you doesn’t want to undress him anyway- not when he looks this good...
But a second pair of hands works over yours, and before you realize, Lucio’s top is completely undone, revealing just enough skin for you to trail your fingers over.
So that’s what you do. You’re eagerly running your hands over every bit of exposed skin you see and leaving sloppier kisses on his neck, along his jawline and on his ear.
Shutting your eyes, you let yourself moan, softly.
“You’re so fucking sexy. Irresistible. And I get you all to myself...” you push the words into his skin, for your lips have yet to leave his neck. “Even if you’re ignoring me.”
With a half-laugh, half-moan, Lucio keeps his eyes on you, through the mirror. He reaches down to undo his pants...
“No-” you gently smack his hand away and take over, slowly rubbing through his trousers. Now he’s starting to squirm, you realize. “Uh-uh... not yet...”
With your other hand, you reach up to his neck and gently close around his throat.
“!”
The simple movement is enough to drive him crazy- he leans his head back slightly, letting out a strangled moan. His cock is hard against his pants now, so desperate for your touch...
“Damn it, m/c...” His voice is slightly strained.
“Hmm?” You purr in his ear. “I thought you were ignoring me.”
You’re both moaning by the time his pants hit the floor, and you’re generously giving into his pleasure with one of your hands tight around his neck, and the other playfully teasing your lover until his cheeks burn red.
“Do you like that?” Your sultry voice seems to fill the room, accompanied by Lucio’s occasional whimpers.
“Choke me... harder...” He  You work your hands on him faster, listening to the way his breaths transition into moaning and panting. You edge him along, just to the point where he starts calling out your name...
And you stop.
Lucio nearly trembles when your hands move elsewhere. His skin is hot, flushed under your touch. Your lips continue to dance along his neck, your breath warm against his skin.
“M/c...” He shudders with such desperation in his voice you’re tempted to just give in, give him everything he wants...
“Beg me for what you want, Lucio.” You nibble on his earlobe, reaching up to choke him again- he seems to like it so much... “What do you want me to do to you?”
He might come just from the anticipation, you think. His eyes are trained on your reflection- or on the two of you, rather.
“Keep doing that,” Lucio impatiently guides your hand down. “Just... make me cum already,” he whines.
“Ask nicely.” You give in and jerk him off a little faster, watching him writhe against you through the reflection.
“Pretty, pretty please, m/c... I want it so bad- I need you. I want you... ohhh...”
His pleas send shivers down your spine. His hips buck forward slowly, but you’re still working at a steady pace- you want to see if you can get him to sweat. Maybe he’ll even start shaking.
Surely enough, you feel Lucio tremble in your arms.
You’ve tortured him enough, you think. After all, part of you knows it’ll only backfire when he decides it’s your turn to be teased.
And he’s so close... Your hand slides along his throbbing cock in a steady motion, working against the way he tries to wriggle through your grip.
“Fuck- don’t stop. Please. Please m/c, don’t stop...”
You don’t stop.
“Look at us,” you command. “Look at you. You’re such a mess in my arms... I’ll teach you not to get bratty with me.”
Lucio leans his head back, nearly knocking into yours. You tighten your grip on his neck, and his hand brushes against yours, as if he’s actually wanting you to choke him even harder. You figured your hold was tight enough, but the heat of the moment seems to be kicking in...
“Hah. You’re the all-powerful Count of Vesuvia,” you murmur in his ear. “And I’ve got you nearly on your knees, begging like a dog.”
Lucio shuts his eyes completely when he comes, whimpering helplessly as he nearly convulses against your hold.
“Mmmph... m/c...”
“Good boy,” you talk him through the orgasm, finally letting go of your hold on his neck when he relaxes. Your other hand is still holding onto him, stroking gently. Waiting until you’re sure he’s completely and utterly satisfied.
He loves being punished, but you’re a giver.  It’s just as hot to see the look on his face when he experiences pleasure in its purest form.
Your gaze set on the mirror, you watch Lucio’s eyes flutter open slowly, almost like’s coming out of a daze. His entire face is a warm shade of pink, to your enjoyment. How adorable. His chest rises and falls heavily as he tries to catch his breath, and now you’re all-too aware of your own blood rushing through your veins.
Lucio finally breaks off from staring ahead and turns to you with a mix of emotions on his face; awe, sheepishness... hunger.  He says nothing, but his eyes are hinting at what he intends to do to you next.
A chill rolls down your spine at the thought.
Is he out for revenge now? You can only hope- but he’s silent, his lust-ridden eyes still trained on you, gazing at you up and down.
“So...”
You glance at the mess you two made.
“Did you learn your lesson?”

Spicy Lucio x MC! Like... spicy spicy. My bad
Gender Neutral MC
(Disclaimer: Based on Lucio’s route- minor spoilers. 🍋🍋 warning!)
You’ve gotten yourself through tough days before, to say the least.
You’ve fought the Devil, for crying out loud- multiple times, in fact.  You’ve looked death in the eyes, laughed in the face of danger, traveled through unfamiliar terrain for days on end... and somehow, today kicked your ass.
It took all of your willpower to make it through your responsibilities- and quickly, at that. The faster you got things done, the sooner you would make your way to see Lucio. He may be able to lounge around freely, but you were not so lucky.
It doesn’t matter, because you made it. You’re at the palace now.
Lucio’s got his fingers dug in your shoulders, massaging your troubles away. You shut your eyes, focusing on the heat of his skin- and the cool metal of his golden hand. The contrast is quite pleasing.
“You’re more tense than usual. Rough day?”
“Sort of.”
You had a normal day overall, but there was just something off. It was as if the universe intended to make the day it’s worst. You were irritable, hurried- and your body ached. The tension was unbelievable. The massage helps. Just a bit.
“Dig a little harder, won’t you?”
Lucio grants your wish, with a shameless chuckle. Even with more pressure on your shoulders, your stress refuses to melt away- you need more.
“Harder.”
“Really?” You hear hesitance in his voice, but you’re sure. You nod, and for a moment, you think this might hit the spot.
“Ah-!” You jerk forward when Lucio’s claw digs into your skin and drags down. You both seem to gasp at the same time.
“M/c, I- I didn’t mean to-”
You don’t really hear his stammered apology. You’re focused on the sensation you just felt. The cut along your shoulder tingles, and the feeling is... exhilarating. You feel a soft burn on your face, and your breath is caught in your throat. Lucio whips you around, and you actually see what you think is fear in his eyes.
“Are you mad?”
“Mad?” You scoff, reaching back to feel for the injury. It didn’t seem to draw blood. It’s only a scratch. You’ve been scratched before, dozens of times. What made this one feel so... good?  Your lips spread in an unintended smile. “I... I want you to do that again.”
You bite your lower lip, utterly shameless. It’s like a switch flipped in your head. You watch the mix of emotions take over Lucio’s expression.  Fear, confusion... sheepishness.
“What- you liked that?” He can’t even try to hide his interest.
You playfully push your hand on his chest, holding eye contact as he topples backwards on the bed with an excited smile. You follow him on all fours, until your face is just above his. He’s blushing furiously by the time you lay a finger on him.
“I think we know how to ease that tension of yours...” Lucio mutters it under his breath, as if he were talking to himself. You almost didn’t hear it. You’re still tracing your fingertips along his skin, watching the way he breaks into goosebumps. Part of you wants to take your time, but in the back of your head, there’s so much to try out... you shouldn’t waste a moment.
“Do you trust me, Lucio?”
“Absolutely.” His tone suggests he hasn’t thought your question completely through. “You can do anything you’d like to me.”  He doesn’t even throw in a wink. He’s dead serious- and taking his own clothes off, already. It seems your work is cut out for you.
“Do you mind if we get a little... rough, tonight?”
He looks like he thought you’d never ask.  Is he breathless already?
“Oh, yes.”
He moans when your lips meet and uses his golden arm to pull your waist against him. You start planting kisses everywhere you can reach, just waiting for the right moment...
Like hunter and prey, you toy with him. Indulging in his desires- granting him kisses anywhere and everywhere he likes, running your fingers along his sweet spots. It’s not long before you feel him inside you- but you hold him down. He’s not in control this time, and judging by the moans he’s letting out, he knows it.
You try to work gradually, but the pressure rises quickly. It’s taking everything you’ve got not to tear into him like an animal. Not an inch of his skin has gone untouched, but the moment he starts to lean his head back...
You stop. You eye him with a smile, watching as he deflates. He’s twitching inside you.
“Don’t... you... dare.” You start to place your fingers against his neck.
“M/c...” he whines, but he’s still got that smile on his face- he looks absolutely elated. “Don’t tease me like that...”
But you can’t help yourself. You’re in the mood to make him work for it. Sitting yourself up completely, you run your hand down his gold arm in a single stroke. You raise it to your chest, pressing one of his sharpened claws to your collarbone. His eyebrows shoot up, but he bites his lip and digs in, shuddering at the sound of your gasp.
The pain brings a rush, and you can’t hold the moan back- it feels so good! Is it the magic in his arm that’s doing this to you? You’ve never quite felt this rush...
“Lucio... again.”
He draws another thin line with the same finger, licking his lips. He’s still afraid to draw blood, you notice. No matter- this is pleasurable enough. You start to grind your hips against him, slowly enough to make him squirm underneath you.
“Ah-”
“Shh.”
You place a finger along his lips,, and he brushes his teeth against them, softly biting at your fingertips with a naughty smile.
“You're enjoying this, aren’t you?” you sneer at him, to his delight. “Being controlled... hurting me. You’re disgusting.”
You can feel a shiver run down his back.  You might actually break him.
The room is blazing hot. You and Lucio are engulfed in the flames as you’re intertwined. You pick up your pace, grinding a little faster... harder...
Lucio starts to squirm harder under your weight- he wraps his golden hand around your throat- now you’re both struggling to keep things quiet.
“Harder,” you command. His grip on you tightens, and your breaths are harder to come by. His other hand is digging into your hips, guiding your grind against him.
You shut your eyes, heart hammering against a burning chest.
“Yes- Lucio-”
You’re on fire! Your body screams out against the flames, sending you into a haze.
Your fingers claw at any part of your lover you can grasp. You hear your breathless moan, how loudly you called his name...
Oh...
And just like that, you’re back. Lucio’s hand is no longer around your throat, but at his side as his back arches. You guide him through the feeling before nearly toppling over, relishing the sound of his uncontrollable moans.
“That’s it,” you coax him through the pleasure, biting your lip when he digs his nails into your skin.
Now you’re both struggling to catch your breaths. You look down to see your chest is marked with thin lashes. Nothing magic can’t hide later. Although... you may leave a few.
Lucio topples backwards with a satisfied groan, pulling you down beside him. You grab onto the edge of the blanket to cover the two of you.
For a moment, neither of you can say anything.  Lucio’s still red in the face, and you could say the same for yourself.
“Well... That was better than a massage.”
You both break out into nervous laughter before you snuggle up.
“Much better,” Lucio agrees, tucking your hair behind your ears. “I hope you know I’m never forgetting about this dark side of yours.”
He can make his jokes, you think.  Because now... you know what gives you the upper hand.

Shh! This is a Library~
Spicy Lucio x MC! Lucio didn’t follow m/c to the library for a good read...
Male MC
(Based on Lucio’s route, 🍋 warning)
Even with your nose buried in a book, you can feel Lucio pouting at you.
“If you want to go off while I’m doing this it’s fine,” you say. “I’ll be reading for a while, dear.”
You only hear a groan in response. You break your focus to see Lucio sprawled out across one of the tables, stray books scattered around him. He has a particularly heavy book in his hand, but something tells you he’s not interested in reading it.
“M/c,” he whines. “This place is so boring. Why do you think I’m never in here?”
“Because you have the attention span of a rodent?”
Lucio’s mouth hangs open for a second. It’s enough to distract you from your book as you chuckle at your own joke. You make up for the comment with an apologetic kiss, but you only hear a muffled “hmmph.”
“Did I hit a nerve?”
“..No.” Lucio’s pout flips almost instantly, into your favorite devilish smile. He raises his eyebrows. “I’ll prove you wrong.”
“Oh really?”
“Of course! I’ll sure show you. I can keep my focus.”
You almost didn’t notice the shameless wink he threw your way before you picked your book back up.
It really was a compelling read, you had to admit. Usually with Lucio around you were never able to keep your eyes off anything but him- but this book was damn good. At this point, you figured Lucio would be used to you spending your free time among all these books. After all, someone had to appreciate them.
Maybe it was the book’s fault that you didn’t even see him slip from your eyesight.
At first, you figured he finally went off to entertain himself somewhere else- but the teasing grip on your inner thighs nearly has you flinging the book out of your hands.
“Whoa!”
You hear a sultry chuckle beneath you- and to your amusement you realize where Lucio’s directed his attention to. He’s crouched under the table you sat at, on his knees at your lap. He’s got that blushing smirk on his face...
“Let me show you, m/c.” he teases. “I’m perfectly capable of giving you my undivided attention.”
You don’t know whether to laugh or blush. Lucio was always adventurous with your hookups, but... in the library? It’s not like the room was exclusive to you- Nadia was also an avid reader. She could show up any moment if she wanted to... not to mention, Julian’s stuff was on the desk over. What if he stopped by to pick up some notes?
Yes, all logic pointed to it being a bad idea. Part of you couldn’t just let go of your inhibitions like that- you’d never forgive yourself if anybody caught you red handed.
And yet...
You’re still looking down at Lucio, who’s surprisingly patient in waiting for your response. He’s nearly bright red, biting his lip up at you. His hand is still stroking your thigh through your trousers, gently... and goosebumps are already broken out over your skin...
What’s the harm in a little fun?
“You really don’t want me to finish my book, is that it?”
“Oh, I want you to finish alright.” Lucio bats his eyelashes at you, still expecting your response.
Why are you so frozen? Was it his touch? Is it the fear in the back of your mind- or was that anticipation?
You glance at the door to your right. No one’s stopped by for hours...
“If we get caught, you’re taking the blame.”
Lucio scrambles to lift around your clothing. You scoot closer, picking up your book- you know, just in case. It seemed smart enough to have something to hide your face with...
Warm lips brush against your lower stomach as Lucio gently lifts your tunic upwards. He moans at the taste of your skin, as if he were the one receiving all the pleasure. Your stomach caves in at the sweet sound of his voice.
You’re nearly sweating already, terrified of getting caught- and letting yourself give into the pleasure.
“You’re so hot... and already so hard for me.” Lucio talks through kisses, which are now being planted on your inner thighs. “It’s easy to focus on someone so handsome.”
“You’re loud,” you blush. “We are in a library.”
“You’re in my library. I can be as loud as I want.”
Your eyebrows shoot up at his tone. When did he get so assertive? Not that you’re complaining... what a turn- on. He’s making it easier and easier to forget about the threat of being caught...
Your book slides out of your hands and onto the table when Lucio takes you into his mouth. You moan simultaneously, but you’re the one nearly arching your back and pushing yourself deeper down his throat...
“Lucio...”
He’s got a hard grip on your thigh with his gauntlet, golden claws pinching your skin just enough to tease. His other hand is wrapped around you tightly, as if the feel of his tongue across your skin wasn’t enough to make you nearly burst.
Leaning back in your seat, you find your hand in Lucio’s hair, gently easing him down on you deeper- inducing another moan on his end.
Your heart’s racing. You lean back and shut your eyes- just for a moment.  No one’s around... it’s just you and him... you can relax. Give in.  Let the pleasure take over...
“I told you,” Lucio’s teasing voice is interrupted by occasional kisses on your thighs, but you only shudder. You weren’t done yet... why is he slowing down?
There’s a new look in his eyes now, as he tilts his chin upwards to look at you. He’s blushing red, lips slightly parted. What’s he waiting for, exactly..?
“I hope you’ve got a few tricks on your sleeve.” His eyes dart to your right, and then you realize it.
Someone’s unlocking the door!
You scramble to scoot back into your seat and pick up your book, but Lucio doesn’t seem to be done with you yet. Oh no. Oh no, no no...
In a fit of panic and embarrassment you muster up some magic at your fingertips- casting an illusion over the entire table. Whoever walks through would only see a stack of books where Lucio would be. It looks stupid, but what was the alternative?
Gods know how long your magic will last though...
“I didn’t realize you were in here, m/c! Sorry if I interrupted your reading. That door’s always been so damn heavy...”
Julian Devorak strolls into the library so casually.
“No worries,” you manage to sputter out. You feel fingers brush against your thighs, but Lucio’s got you entirely in his mouth right now.
The doctor heads straight for his desk. Of course he would. Of course someone had to come in now, of all times.
You’re watching Julian’s every move, silently begging for him to just grab something and rush out. He’s obviously looking for something, based on the way he stares at his desk. He’s muttering to himself, sorting through a mess of papers and books.
Why is he here? Not just the library, but the palace at all. His office may be here, but he hadn’t used it that often.
You’re so frustrated by the interruption you somehow almost forget about your little secret.
...That little secret begins to work with his hands again- in all the places that make you moan. You bite down on your lip, nearly drawing blood to stay silent. You reach to tug at Lucio’s hair, looking down when you’re sure Julian’s back is turned.
Don’t you dare make me come- not when he’s in here.
Lucio had to have known what you were thinking- and naturally, he’d do everything in his power to defy it. With a wink, he begins to suck harder- and you shut your eyes again, desperate to hold it in.
Heat waves ripple through your body, and you’re finding it harder and harder to control your breathing. Even the slightest part in your lips would lead to a moan- and you just can’t. Not now...
Damn it Julian, leave!
“Are you looking for something?” Your voice is nearly an octave higher when you blurt out the words. Julian’s obviously still rummaging through his desk, but you bury your face in your book again, your cheeks burning red enough for anyone to take notice.
Ah...
“Mmm...”  As if you couldn’t be more horrified, Lucio’s moaning echoes within the walls.  You could laugh. Part of you wants to, but you’re so fucking close.
Not yet, not yet, not yet...
“You okay over there, my friend?” Julian approaches you with a handful of papers in his hand.
Oh thank the gods! He got what he was looking for. Go! Get out of here... please...
“I’m...”  You can’t even speak. You just nod and rest your head against your open book, ready to admit defeat.
It feels too good. It always just sneaks up on you like that, doesn’t it? Especially when you’ve been so worried and embarrassed... you barely had time to savor the sensation.
You’re teetering on the edge, using all of your strength to control your breaths...
“Must be a hell of a story you’re reading,” Julian’s hidden smile makes your heart leap into your chest. “I gotta run. I don’t really want to run into the count. I’m surprised he’s not... here with you. Talk to you later.”
He’s barely closed the door behind him when you come.
It’s like your entire body became aware of the situation, and the moment you let yourself relax in the slightest- all the tension leaves from your body.
“Ah- Lucio!”
You’re both moaning now- oblivious to the room around you once again as you grab hold of Lucio’s hair and tug. Despite a surprised groan, he doesn’t stop until you’re nearly begging for mercy, back arched once again and your fingers too tense to hold your grip on his hair.
Your head tilts back as you face the ceiling, dizzy from the wave of euphoria.
“Well?” A hearty, confident chuckle cuts through the haze. “What do you have to say to that?”
Lucio rises and plants a kiss on your forehead after admiring your expression. For a moment you wonder how you must look. Red as hell, most likely, and desperate to catch your breath... not to mention your pants are still undone.
There’s no way someone could look at you and think you were just enjoying a good book.
“You proved me wrong.” You play into his attitude- he’s definitely earned it, after all. Lucio puffs up his chest, but his hair is so disheveled it makes you giggle.
“Can you believe Jules walked in on that? I thought we’d actually get caught.”
Now the embarrassment comes back to you tenfold.
“Do you think he noticed anything?”  You both seem to know the answer to that.
“Jules?” Lucio scoffs, but his smile wavers. “Nah! ...yeah- no. Definitely not.”
Great.

(Disclaimer: Based on Lucio’s route- minor spoilers. 🍋🍋 warning!)
“Tell me again why you’re sneaking me around.”
You thought you had been called to the palace for a date, but when you arrived at the gates, Lucio all but covered you up before taking you around the back entrances, through his old wings, and to the conference hall.
You never spent much time in this particular room. In fact, are you even allowed to be here? This was where the court held their meetings, wasn’t it?
Empty as it was, you suddenly felt a sense of unwelcoming, like you really were sneaking around. However, Lucio naturally didn’t see it that way, and sank into one of the extravagant chairs, pulling you on his lap.
“Well... you’re technically not supposed to be here today. Noddy asked that I wait until after our meeting to find you, but I just miss you too much.”
Lucio ends that sentence with a sloppy kiss on your cheek.
“Why shouldn’t I be here?” You ask.
“Oh, the court would go on forever about that,” he scoffs. “Something about you being a ‘distraction’ for me, and how they need my full attention today, blah blah blah. It’s all so boring, m/c.”
You raise an eyebrow.
“What’s going on today?”
“Seriously? You’re interested in the court’s stupid rules?” He rolls his eyes, but trails his fingers along your back, softly- making your arms break out in goosebumps. He sighs. “Well now that yours truly is back in the living world... Nadia’s decided to hold a meeting. I guess they’ve got to decide what to do with me.”
You stare him dead in the eyes.
“Lucio, that’s important.”
“Is it? We all know I can’t leave the palace- they wouldn’t dare give me the boot.”
You lift yourself from his hold, ready to make your exit. Normally, you loved skirting around the palace with him- even if it drove some of the others a bit crazy. But a meeting like this has everything to do with his future as the Count- maybe even as a citizen of Vesuvia.
“Aww, don’t be like that!” He whines. “Look, nobody’s even here. Just stay, for a little.”
You hesitate. He’s right; there’s no meeting going on right now... so there’s no harm in spending a few minutes together, is there? After all, it seems like ages since you’ve really spent time together. You give into his pout with a smirk.
“..Fine.” You circle behind him, draping your arms over his shoulders and kissing his cheek. “You better promise me you’ll be on your best behavior.”
“Oho, I won’t make a promise I can’t keep.”
...Really?
Before you make a snide comment, Lucio whips you around and pulls you closely, your lips meeting in a hurried kiss. You lean into it, suddenly losing your train of thought. Before you know it, you’ve climbed over him again, letting him plant feverish kisses along your neck.
“Lucio...”
“You smell absolutely delicious.”  You nearly squeal when you feel Lucio’s cold hands under your shirt- pressed against your back. He’s softly moaning into your skin, and for a sweet moment you both forget where you are. He holds back a moan when you shift around on his lap.
Oh no. That’s definitely not a knife in his pocket...
“Lucio!” You tear yourself away, eyes wide. He’s grinning shamelessly, despite an embarrassed flush on his cheeks. “We can’t do that right now. Someone could walk in!”
“Imagine the trouble we’d get in...” He bites his lip in thought, and you know you’ve made a mistake. This sounded like an important meeting. Lucio can’t afford to be this distracted if-
You’re both shocked at the sound of a doorknob turning. Your heart nearly comes to a still, but an even bigger shock is when you hear Lucio audibly gasp.
“Get down!”
He’s shoved you to the floor, just out of sight.  Oh! How rude.  You scramble under the table as Lucio scoots forward. You’re just at his chair, staring at his crossed legs. You can’t believe this. Does he really think you can hide through a court meeting? That could take hours! Right? You’re not sure how long they take, actually... but still.
“Lucio?”
Dear Gods, it’s Nadia who walked in. You know her voice too well.
“I must say, I’m surprised to see that you’re the first one here.”
You can’t see her, so you scoot closely to Lucio in hope that she doesn’t accidentally kick you when she takes her seat. You uncross his legs, trying to tuck yourself as close as possible to his chair.
Oh, wow.
He’s rock hard.
You almost want to laugh. In any other situation, you would.
“I- I just want to get this over with already.” You can hear the pout in Lucio’s voice.  What do I do? Should you try and make an escape? Pretend you’re lost? Come clean?
All plans fly out the door as you hear footsteps come closer. More people.  Before you know it, everyone's taken their seats. You’re boxed in. Your fate is sealed.
“I see we’re all accounted for.” Is that Valerius? Now what would he have to say if he caught you down here?
You grip Lucio’s thigh, hard. This is your fault! What if we get caught? What if the court decides to banish you from the palace- or Vesuvia?
You can only think of the words you’ll have for him later, but to your horror, the grip on his thigh seemed to excite him. You recognize the surprised moan that echoed throughout the hall.
“...What was that? Are you feeling alright, Lucio?”
“Huh- yes! Just a... cramp.”
Serves him right... Well. I suppose since he wanted me to stay so badly...
Your racing heart begins to settle down. You’ve come to a decision. Your hand is still gripping his thigh... and he’s still very turned on, from what you can see.
There’s no reason why you can’t have some fun. That’s what Lucio wanted, right?
“I see,” Nadia goes on. “I suppose I’ll begin.”
She goes on, but your world suddenly goes silent.
You move forward, gently working your hands over his lap- figuring out just how to get these pants off without arousing suspicion...
It takes a moment, but now you’re kissing his bare skin, dragging your fingers daintily across his upper legs.
Lucio starts to twitch- and he nudges you with his foot. You just respond with your kiss.
“In all fairness, you were the Count of Vesuvia, no matter how we felt... Lucio? Are you even listening?”
You’ve taken him into your mouth- and is that a shudder you hear? He’s not even trying to hide it?
“I’m... fine. Just...” Lucio clears his throat. “Someone fetch me water, would you?”
“You seem... warm. Are you feverish?” You don’t recognize whoever just spoke.
“No!” Lucio’s voice wavers when you work with your hands. “Just... don’t stop...”
“Erm... alright. Go on.”
“As I was saying...”
Lucio manages to reach his hand down, guiding you by your hair- closer to him. He’s surprisingly rough, grabbing your hair by the fistful. He must be so tense.  Don’t choke...
You swat his hand away. My rules this time.  He truly must be rubbing off on you, you realize. You’re starting to enjoy the thrill. Maybe because you know he’s the one squirming up there...
You work as slowly as you can- taking the occasional break to breathe. Silent kisses everywhere you can reach. You even drag your tongue along his skin, with a wet smooch. He twitches again, harder than he did last time.  You close your eyes, losing yourself in the moment.  It feels just as good to give sometimes.
Enjoyable as it is, his body language is speaking to you- he’s close.  Really close.
“I’m prepared to allow you to stay in the palace.” Your ears perk up at Nadia’s voice. This meeting just gets more interesting.
“You’ve shown great strides since... the incident. With m/c’s help, I’m willing to appoint you as a... consultant, of a sort. You may hold the title of Count, but you remain under my supervision.”
“M/c...” His voice is soft, not quite a whisper, but not a moan either.
“Yes? What about them?”
But he doesn’t respond.
You almost want to stop and listen, but that wouldn’t be fair. You’ve definitely put Lucio through the wringer, based on the sounds you hear him try to muffle.
“Right. Well... that is the only way I will allow you to remain in the palace.”
You lick and kiss, feverishly now- as desperately as you can without making a sound. Exactly the way he likes it...
“What do you say?”
“Mm-!”
Lucio nearly breaks out into a full body spasm as he finishes- in your mouth.
“Mmm... hmm...”
That was definitely a moan. You just made him orgasm in front of the entire court.
There’s a moment of silence, and you suddenly go cold. Did they catch on?  You’re frozen until you hear something break the tension.
You think the sound is a gavel of some sort pounding against the table. You hurry to try and redress Lucio the best you can, as he seems frozen in his seat.
“I’ll take that as a yes,” Nadia finally goes on. “However, I move that the meeting be adjourned. Lucio is obviously... delirious. We can finalize the deal when he is in better spirits.”

The Man Made of Gold
Fluffy Lucio x MC! Lucio shows m/c a side to him they didn’t expect...
Gender Neutral MC
(Disclaimer: Based on Lucio’s route, minor spoilers)
“Thank you for coming down to the palace, m/c. We really need you around here.”
“Sure,” you follow Julian down one of the corridors, half-waiting for him to further explain. It’s not like you weren’t coming down to the palace anyway, but the moment you saw Malak fly towards you, you knew something was up. “What did you need my help with?”
Part of you hopes it isn’t Lucio. You’d think by now, after all that’s happened, he’d be a little friendlier to those around the palace. And that they’d be nicer to him...
It’s a bit of a selfish wish on your part, but you can’t help it. You’re never going to feel the pain that your friends once suffered due to Lucio’s wrath, so forgiveness was easier. Even if you did, (and surely you had at some point but fail to remember) your love for him would always outweigh the past.
Was that wrong?
You see it in the way Julian sheepishly walks you down Lucio’s wing. He doesn’t like being around here- and he definitely doesn’t like being around Lucio. With a heavy heart, you stop in front of the door leading to the main bedroom. Julian nudges you forward with a blush.
“There’s nothing wrong, per se... I think he’s having a bit of a bad day.” The doctor holds his tongue after that. “Nothing cheers him up like... well, you.”
A small relieved smile begins to spread across your face.
But Julian steps backwards, running a gloved hand through his hair uncomfortably.
“Can I leave you to it?”
You take notice of how Julian’s eyes sweep the hall. You almost forgot how scary Lucio’s wing used to be.
Even long after he came back to life, the servants were wary of the area. You even performed a number of theatrical “cleansing” rituals for their sake, but at the end of the day, you were the only one who still dared to walk these halls alone at night. Of course, you’re also the only one who’s madly in love with the Count...
“Of course.” By the time you get the words out, you’re alone.
Turning to the door, you can’t help but wonder how bad of a day Lucio must have had. For you to actually be summoned to the palace to deal with him...
-
“Lucio..?”
You push the door slowly, after knocking didn’t get a response. You’re barely into the room when you have to dodge something hurling towards you.
“Ah-!” You duck instinctively as a pillow hits the door behind you.
“Get out!” A familiar shout makes your heart skip a beat. Beautiful, rage-ridden eyes come into view, and Lucio’s scowl contorts into shock when he recognizes you.
“Fucking hell, Lucio.” You try to laugh it off, but you’re thrown off. “What’s gotten into you?”
“...Oh.” A flush crosses his face, but he’s still got that anger kindling in his eyes. It seems like he’s actually trying to hide it from you. “Sorry, m/c. I thought you were... someone else.”
“Someone else?”
“Anyone else,” he crosses his arms in a bitter pout while you shut the door behind you and put the pillow back in place. Lucio leans against his bed while you sit comfortably on the right side- the side he saves for you.
“I told everyone to get out of my face today, but no one seems to listen,” Lucio goes on with a huff. “I can’t just have a single day to myself, it seems.”
When has Lucio ever wanted to be alone? you think.
Before you can come up with an explanation, Lucio lets out a frustrated yell that makes you jump nearly a foot in the air.
“Damn this thing!” He snaps. You look over to see him clutching his left arm.
“Is it acting up?” You ask.
Lucio either pretends your question wasn’t as stupid as it sounds, or he’s too angry to care. He nods with another groan, and your stomach sinks. You heard the pain in his voice.
“Why don’t you take it off?”
“I... was going to...” His eyes flicker to yours in a panic. You scoot closely to him, gently dragging your fingers across the metal arm. The gold is cool against your touch- and you can sense the magic radiating from it. It’s exhilarating- enough to make your arms break into goosebumps.
Lucio, on the other hand, is less impressed with his arm at the moment. He’s only standing still, letting you examine the gauntlet with much more patience than you’d expect.
“Now that I think about it, I’ve never seen you take this off...”
“I know.” Lucio’s eyes fall to the floor for just a moment, but then another bitter expression takes over. “Ugh, couldn’t you have stopped by later?”
You throw your arms up in exasperation. You know it’s just misplaced anger, but you’re starting to understand why Julian didn’t want to deal with this. Lucio seems to read your mind and soften up.
“I just don’t really... want you to see this.”
With that, you watch as his right arm crosses his chest, reaching to slide his blazer off. He shrugs the clothing off effortlessly, but you watch as he tries to dislocate his arm from its latch. You jump to your feet, watching the way he winces.
“You’re in pain,” you gently dismiss his hand and work on the latch yourself. It takes you a moment, as you’ve never done it before and you’re secretly terrified of adding any more pain. Lucio’s chest settles with relief, however.
With a satisfying click, the gauntlet is light in your hands.
You turn it over and over, thinking back to that first day... when you entered this room under completely different pretenses. You held Lucio’s arm in your hands just like this, when he was a stranger to you. You used your blood to bind his soul to you, when he was nothing but a whisper in the wind.
“Why didn’t you want me to see...?”
You look up. Lucio’s gone quiet in front of you- somehow both pale and blushing simultaneously. Your eyes quickly go to his left arm- what’s left of it. As if your gaze affected it, his left shoulder twitches. The tension in the room melts away, and you no longer feel the anger radiate from the man in front of you.
“Don’t get me wrong,” he finally speaks. “On any other day, I’d sit you down and tell you all the gory details about my arm- it’s really an awesome story. But today...”
Lucio crosses the room and plops down on his bed, leaving the right side wide open for you. You accept the invite and leave the arm by the wardrobe. He waits until you’re against him before he can relax. He slings his arm underneath you, pulling you to his chest. Your eyes are on his left side.
“But today..?”
With a heavy sigh, Lucio shifts uncomfortably in your embrace.
“Today sucks!” He grumbles. “I didn’t want to show you my arm when it was acting like this. It’s been irritating me all damn day. You’d think I’d be used to the feeling by now. Ugh... I don’t want you to see it and think that it’s a nuisance-”
You hold a finger to his lips.
“I’m going to stop you right there,” you say.
“Don’t kid yourself. You saw my face- I know you know it hurts. It’s not... always like this,” he sighs in frustration. “Just don’t get the wrong idea.”
“What idea do you think I have?”
“That I’m...” he grits his teeth, and your heart breaks to see the strain on his face. “That it’s a pity. Or that I’m just an idiot who lost his arm in a reckless fight.”
With that, he lets out another frustrated sigh.  You’re at a loss for words at this point. How could he think that?
“...Can I try using magic? It might help if you’re having phantom pains.”
You feel stupid, and a little guilty for not responding directly to what he just told you. But you’ve never been good at these things, and you can’t bear to watch him in this state. The pain doesn’t seem that intense, but the way he winces makes your heart drop.
You trace your fingers along what’s left of Lucio’s left arm. You keep a light touch, wary of the way he’s eyeing you. With all the focus you can muster, you let your magic flow through your fingertips and into his skin.
Gods, please let this work.
You look to him, but his expression is still the same- sad and a little anxious.  You can’t even finish your sigh before you realize Lucio’s hugging you.
“Thank you.” His voice dips into a low whisper.
“Did it work? Do you feel better?”
“...yeah.”  It’s not very convincing, but you feel the sincerity in his embrace.  You act impulsively, out of your heart, and plant kisses on his left shoulder.
“!”
Lucio stiffens for a moment, but you’re determined to show him what you think. How you feel.
“I guess I should know better than to be nervous around you.” The smile in his voice is apparent.
“I just want to lie here and admire you.” You admit. His eyebrows shoot up in surprise at first, but he seems to relax.
“Hah!” Lucio’s voice begins to break through- the Lucio you’ve been waiting to see. “Well, who am I to get in the way of that? Eat your heart out, my dear.”
He poses for you like you’re about to paint his portrait. You chuckle, but in a moment of seriousness, you cup his face in your hands. Your heart feels like it’s about to burst when you realize his smile is genuine.
Damn... I’m really in love, aren’t I?
“Hey, Lucio... it’s really okay. I don’t think those things of you, you know. Thank you for trusting me.” you whisper.
He doesn’t seem to know how to respond, but that’s okay. You’re just happy to see his mood brighten.
Maybe Julian was right- this was the kind of thing only you could deal with.
Lucio leans forward, gently pressing his forehead to yours.  You close your eyes and lean into the touch.
You wouldn’t have it any other way.

High Tensions
Playfully angsty scene! Asra decides to stir up some drama in the palace... Lucio x MC
Gender Neutral MC
(Disclaimer: Based on both Lucio and Asra’s routes)
Little did you know at the time, your lunch date with Lucio was the last peaceful hour you were going to have for a while.
The Chamberlain scrambles into the dining room, bowing and apologizing profusely for the interruption. Lucio’s halfway through a glass of wine, so you take the initiative to ask if everything’s alright.
“Absolutely, er- uh- magician-” they stammer, but Lucio holds a hand up.
“That’s your excellency,” Lucio raises an eyebrow. “After all, m/c practically lives here now. Treat them as you would me or Noddy.”
Lucio flashes a wink at you, causing your cheeks to burn.  You’d never get used to that.
“Right- absolutely. Your... excellency, ah... the great magician Asra has come to visit you.”
Lucio makes a point of groaning and rolling his eyes, but you stand immediately, eager to see your friend. There was an old spell book he promised to find for you earlier- something tells you he found what you were looking for.
“Don’t tell me you’re actually going now,” Lucio mutters. “We’ve barely finished eating.”
You look down to see empty bowls and plates everywhere. You raise an eyebrow at Lucio’s sudden flush.
“I’ll be back before you even finish your wine.”  You press a kiss to his cheek before walking off, hearing his grumbles fade away as you’re escorted out of the dining room.
-
Being separated from Asra always felt weird, even though by now most of your time was spent away from the shop. You remember the days when you begged Asra not to leave on his journeys without you, to which he’d just sigh before promising you it’d be okay...
You wave off the odd feeling in your gut, smiling widely when you see him.
You wouldn’t admit it to Lucio, but spending all your time at the palace was still something you were struggling to accept. You enjoyed it of course- what could be better than living in luxury with the person you love?  It was just... a big change that you hadn’t completely settled into yet. Your whole life once belonged at the shop.
It felt good to be in a friend’s company.
Asra stands, smoothing down the fabric of his tunic before looking up at you with a shy smile. Your eyes immediately drift to the large grimoire set on the table.
“Asra!” You greet him with a short hug before you take your seats on the grand couches. “Is that what I think it is?”
He holds up the book with a proud smile.
“You were right to ask for this- I’ve been going through it for days!”
“No fair! You had it that long already?”
Asra starts off with a smile, but it fades into an awkward grimace.
“Oh don’t mind me,” Lucio’s voice fills the room as he makes his presence known in the salon. The words tumble out of his mouth, suggesting that he had more than his fair share of wine. “I just wanted to see my dear friend Asra.”
“Lucio-” You shoot him a glance, but he makes a point not to look at you.
“What? You’d think he and I would be great friends now, considering how often he stops by the palace to see... us.”
You could just die! You feel so awful, watching Asra’s blush paint his face red. He looks to the floor, but Lucio only grins, taking a seat next to you.
“Asra, I’m so sorry-”
He puts a hand up to dismiss your embarrassed apology. You can almost see his thought process as he looks between the two of you. Lucio drapes his arm around you, but you awkwardly push it away, burning in anger and humiliation.
“It’s alright, m/c.” Asra’s voice doesn’t match up with his expression. You recognize it though; it sounds... mischievous, playful.  Oddly enough, similar to Lucio’s.
“Lucio’s right.”
“What?” You and Lucio speak in unison, but Asra isn’t phased. You’re not sure how to feel about the flirtatious gleam in his eyes.
You know Asra loves messing with Lucio, but this is... a dangerous game. Lucio can’t handle a taste of his own medicine.
“We all know I’m only here for you, m/c. If he wants me to admit it I will, but he can’t blame me. Who says he gets you all to himself? Look at your beautiful face- how could I not want to see it all the time?”
You can’t believe what you’re hearing.
Is Asra really flirting with you to get a rise out of Lucio?
The magician leans back in his seat with a nonchalant shrug. He’s completely fixed on Lucio, who by now is tightly clutching the armrest- his face contorted into a scowl. Meanwhile, you’re not exactly sure what happened, but you know you feel embarrassed about it.
“No...” Lucio manages to speak calmly, but you recognize that rage in his eyes. “It’s fine. Talk all you want, but m/c is mine. You can’t change that.”
“Can’t I?” Asra raises an eyebrow.
Did they both forget that you’re sitting right there?!
You open your mouth to put a stop to this nonsense, but Lucio springs to his feet, pointing hastily at the exit.
“Out!” He screeches. “I don’t want to see your stupid face around m/c or the palace for a week!”
“Lucio-!” You stand as well, frantically trying to get his attention. You place a hand on his gauntlet, as if you could actually hold him back.
They might actually start to fight.
Luckily, Asra seems to have had his fun. He pushes the grimoire towards you, sliding it across the table with a wink, but you’re too tense to return the gesture. He went too far this time.
“It’s okay, m/c. I just wanted you to have the spellbook. I guess I’ll see you in a week.”
He bows mockingly before making a beeline for the exit, chuckling to himself.
“Lucio-”
“I need a drink.” Lucio shrugs your hand off him and nearly stomps his way down the corridor.
...
What just happened?
-
It took you ages to find Lucio. He practically vanished after what happened in the salon.
You’re trying to push it out of your mind. There were a million ways that whole interaction could have gone, and somehow the worst one happened.
Lucio was out of line with Asra today.
But what was Asra thinking, talking to you like that?
Your thoughts finally melt away when you reach the fountain.
Lucio sits at the edge, swirling a very full glass of red wine around. You see no rage in his expression, but it almost feels worse seeing him slump like this. You take a seat next to him, but he only looks down.
“I don’t want to talk about it.”
You nod. Neither do you. Despite that, he sighs irritably. The smell of red wine reminds you of your lunch date- it suddenly felt like ages ago.
“That was so uncool of Asra to act like that. It’s not... fair.” Lucio sets the wine down, but he won’t look at you.
“He was messing with you, dear. You know that. Why are you taking it so hard?”
“He was not just ‘messing with me.’ Didn’t you hear what he said? He practically admitted that he’d steal you away from me.”
The anger’s left his voice now, and in a crushing realization, you see that he’s actually hurt.
“He didn’t say that outright.” The words nearly catch in your throat as you say them. Maybe Asra didn’t say it word for word, but... the implication was clear.
“I’m sorry I didn’t stick up for you,” you admit. “I was trying to keep the peace, and I was just so... thrown off. I should have defended you. I’m definitely going to have a talk with Asra the next time I see him. He can’t talk to you like that.”
Lucio just takes your hand and brings it to his lips. You’re not used to seeing him so glum- you thought he’d be more... angry. Pouty.
“You don’t think that it’s true, do you? What Asra was saying?”
“I... don’t know.” Lucio buries his face in his hands now, letting go of yours. “He obviously has feelings for you. How am I supposed to deal with that? You’ve known each other longer than we have... and... how could he say that?!”
He groans in frustration. Part of you is glad he’s not looking at you- you can feel how pained your expression is.
How could he think I’d love anyone else?
You shut your eyes and crash into him with a tight hug.
“None of that matters! Look at me. Darling, look at me. You were right earlier. I’m yours. All yours, and there’s nothing anyone can do about it. There’s nobody in the world who can stop me from loving you.”
For a long moment, there’s silence. You keep your eyes shut, trying to avoid the sniffle you hear.
“...Promise?”
You open your eyes and sheepishly stick out your pinky.
Finally, you see him smile from the corner of your eye, and you feel a golden pinky claw wrap around yours.
“You’re all mine,” Lucio repeats it again and again. “You said it yourself.”
“I’m all yours.”
He finally turns to face you and you seize the moment, taking him in for a deep kiss. With a smirk, he holds your chin in place. You let your lips linger on his for a moment, just in case your words weren’t enough.
You pull away to take a breath, but you’re still only inches away.
“Fair warning m/c...”
Lucio’s mischievous smile finally makes its way back to his lips again.
“I’m all yours too.”

For You? Always
Angsty Lucio x MC! Trouble follows Lucio everywhere...
Gender Neutral MC
(Based on Lucio’s route, minor spoilers)
TW: blood/violence
You know those days when you wake up and just know something’s going to happen?
That was today. You couldn’t shake the feeling that you needed to be on high alert, even though you had no idea what you were looking for, and things have actually been going really well for you.
Despite the goosebumps rising on your arms, you shake the thoughts from your head as you stroll through the streets with Lucio at your side, arm-in-arm. You find yourself at the coliseum- or what’s left of it.  Even with Lucio back in Vesuvia, it’s become somewhat of a wasteland, even with the Red market bustling just below. You stand in the center, gazing up at the structure and thinking about how much blood was shed on this very floor. In Lucio’s name.
He must have the same thought on his mind, judging by the mix of emotions that’s come across his face. You wonder for a moment, did he really miss it?
You may not have been there to witness the fights- or you simply wouldn’t remember if you had- but you can easily imagine Lucio in the center of it all, basking in the vibrant cheers of the crowd.
“Why are we here?” The words slip from your lips easily, and for a moment you think your tone might have been condescending. Lucio furrows his brows, not breaking his gaze on the structures.
“Noddy made it clear that she was turning this place into some... court of justice.”
The bitterness in his voice suggests that he wasn’t quite ready to part with it. Personally, it’s an appealing idea to you- fighting to the death wasn’t your cup of tea.
You open your mouth to speak, but the two of you are startled by heavy footsteps.
“I heard you’s was really back to life, but... I had to see with mine own eyes.”
You turn immediately, feeling a shiver down your spine. It’s not the most chilling voice you’ve heard, but the sheer malice dripping from this stranger’s tone was enough to put your guard up.
You don’t recognize the hooded figure creeping up on you.  They’re tall, with their face mostly obscured by the cloak they wear. It makes your stomach flip.
“Who the hell are you?” You squint, trying to make anything out of their shape- but you’ve never seen them before. You can’t even tell what they really look like through their clothing- you just feel their anger. Whoever this is wasn’t here to make friends.
“I’m here for the Count.” The stranger nearly spits at your feet. “I could care less about you. Move.”
“If you’re here for me, you’re going to be disappointed.” Lucio rolls his eyes at the disturbance, clearly not as bothered as you. He seems more irritated than threatened... he’s not thrown off by the anonymity? How there’s no one else within hearing distance of the three of you?
But you really don’t like the way the stranger lurks. He seems to be taking advantage of Lucio’s distractedness, eyeing him up like a hunter scouting his prey... Beneath the dark hood, you catch something- a snarl? A scowl?
“Who are you?” You repeat the question- louder, hoping your tone would catch Lucio’s attention.  This doesn’t feel right.
“I.. am vengeance.” Their voice is a sour declaration- a battle cry.
Oh no.
It was bound to happen.  Whoever this person is... they’ve been holding a grudge.
Everything moves so fast, and yet time seems to slow. Your blood runs cold at the sight of a gleaming dagger- it seemed to suddenly manifest in their hand.
Lucio’s barely even paying them any mind- he’s still lost in the memories of the coliseum. He’s even got his back turned on you and your new acquaintance.  Does he really not realize what’s going on?
He’s going to attack, you realize.
Dagger pointed forward, the aggressor begins to charge- directly at Lucio. You don’t have to see the look in their eyes- the way their body moves is a language in itself.
Their intent is to kill.
“No!”
There’s no time to think, or to project magic- your body moves on instinct, throwing you in between Lucio and the attacker.
It’s only then Lucio’s become aware of the severity of the situation.  You feel his body turn around in a flash- but you can’t quite see it.
“M/c!”
You hear yourself before you feel it. A groan- a scream. Your twisted, painful cry echoes throughout the empty arena.  Flashes of red and white take over your vision- and then you feel it.
Sharp, splitting pain in your lower abdomen. It’s all you’re aware of, and with a sickening realization, you look down to see the weapon still in your wound. You force your eyes away from the gruesome sight, franticly searching for your attacker.
Your vision goes fuzzy, but you spot them lying against the ground several feet away, as if they’ve been thrown across the earth. They’re not moving. How did that happen?
“Ah...”  You slink to the ground, but warm arms scoop you up in a panic.
I guess I was right, you think. You did have a bad feeling about today...
Your senses begin to slip from you.  Lucio’s screaming curses, but you can’t make out the words.
You feel yourself being carried, but you can’t see where you’re going.
Even the knife in your gut seems to go numb...
-
Blurred figures stand in front of you when you come to. Adrenaline rushes through you and you jolt upwards- only to remember the sharp pain that knocked you out in the first place.
“Ack-”
You can’t even suffer in peace. The two figures come into view- one of them being a puffy-eyed Lucio. The other is someone you don’t know, but you recognize a doctor when you see one.
“M/c?! Oh, thank goodness,” Lucio rushes to your side, and only then you realize you’re in his room- on his bed. Did he carry you all the way back to the palace? You look down to see bandaging bleeding through your cut clothes. Better than a knife, you suppose. The pain is much more tolerable. You try to speak, to tell him you’re okay- or at least as okay as you can be, but the words catch in your throat. You have so many questions. What did that stranger say before they came at you? Vengeance?
“Out.” Lucio barks another command at the doctor still in the room. “I need talk to m/c alone.”
Without a word, the doctor slips out of the room just in time for Lucio to break down. For a second you think he’ll cry, but a sudden anger flares up in his eyes as he throws his hands up.
“What the hell were you thinking, jumping in front of a knife like that?” he exclaims. He’s started pacing back and forth between his room, angry eyes not leaving you. “That was the most stupid, careless thing you’ve ever done!”
You don’t even have the energy to give one of the million responses you have to that answer.  Was Lucio, of all people, lecturing you on recklessness?
“You should have just... shouted. Warned me, or something. I would have taken that bastard easily without you getting in the middle of it.”
“...There was no time.” You finally get the words to come out. With each sound you make, you feel it in your lower stomach. “Whoever that was- he was trying to kill you!”
“So instead, you decide to let him kill you.” Lucio waves the thought away, still fuming red.
You shrink under the sheets, tears brimming your eyes. Were you tearing up from the pain? Something tells you that’s not the case.
“I’m not apologizing.” You finish your thoughts aloud, your voice wavering. “You had your back turned- he would have gotten to you. Was I supposed to let that happen?”
Lucio buries his face on the bed- obviously not wanting to touch you yet.
“You... idiot,” his voice is muffled, but you hear the pain behind it all too clearly. “You stupid, stupid magician... don’t you ever risk your life like that again. Do you hear me?”
A hot blush takes over your face at the insult before you realize he’s gone silent. Too silent.  You suddenly feel cold, watching his body tremble next to you.
“Lucio...”
“I thought that stunt actually got you killed.” The anger isn’t in his voice anymore...
You reach out to pet his hair, but something makes you pull back. When he looks up at you, he’s tear stricken. Your gaze immediately goes to the wall- his shirt, the bed. Anything but his eyes. You can’t look at that.
“What was I supposed to do if you died?!” He finally exclaims.
You can’t answer that.
You can barely look at him, but your voice is firm- the strongest you’ve spoken yet.
“...I’m not sorry for what I did. I don’t regret it. I’d do it again.
He only sighs, but he reaches for your hand and squeezes tightly. He can’t even hold you- he won’t.
It feels like hours before another sound is made, from either of you.  The severity of the situation finally seems to settle in, and you look down at the blood seeping through your clothes. If only you could use your magic, but you’re exhausted as it is, and you don’t think Lucio can handle you taking another risk today.
You feel him squeeze your hand one more time.
“...Thank you.” Lucio pushes the words out through gritted teeth. He’s not looking at you.
He doesn’t have to thank you.  Like you’d let him die on your watch. Did he think he could leave you that easily?
You almost want to make a joke, but your body decides that you’ve been awake too long. Lucio seems to take notice when your hand goes limp, and helps you lie back down comfortably. He sighs heavily, and you feel his hands shaking when he runs a hand along your jawline.
Worried silver eyes are the last thing you see before you settle back into rest.

Comfort fic! Lucio helps a restless MC fall asleep
Gender Neutral MC
(Disclaimer: This is a pretty short one. No spoilers!)
It starts when the days begin to blend together.  You never notice it until it’s become destructive- hours gone without speaking, nights without sleep... sometimes even food is an afterthought.  The world can just pass you by so easily. What’s a few hours spent into the distance? A few days? A week...
Where are you again?
You lie in bed, completely flat on your back with your eyes fixed on the ceiling. Were those details always carved into the walls? Lucio sure has an eye for decoration...
Small curves dance along the high ceilings as you stare endlessly into them, finally sinking into sleep- or so you thought.
Your arm moves almost involuntary, as if your own body were telling you to stay alert. What gives, you think. You’re exhausted. You’re always exhausted, and yet you can never slip into a peaceful slumber. Was it because you spend your nights in Lucio’s bedroom?
Yes, that must be it... this bedroom. Remember how you felt the first time you were here? When you fell into the ashes...
“Ah-” You force the sound out, hoping it’ll distract you from the memory.  You feel the man next to you stir over, mumbling to himself.
“M/c?” Lucio’s voice is drawn out, sleepy... you’re almost jealous of how easy is is for him to sleep. “What’s going on..?”
“Sorry. I didn’t mean to wake you...”  You don’t realize how sleepy you sound until you speak. When you do, your voice draws out. Lucio’s hand gently runs along your back.
“You’ve been pretty restless lately...” He whispers. You’re not sure if he’s completely here right now. “Do you need more pillows? More blankets?”
You reassure him that you don’t. He narrows his already drooping eyelids towards you, but he seems too tired to fight you on it.
“I just want you to be comfortable here...”
A touch of guilt hits your chest. He must think you can’t sleep around him. How do you tell him that it’s just... you?
“I am so comfortable.” you promise. As a show of good faith, you try to sink further in the mattress. It works, for a while. Lucio’s eyes close after a moment, when it seems like you’ve finally found a comfortable position.
Your vision peacefully begins to blur...
But only for a moment.
It’s almost like something physical pulls you awake- and it takes your body with it as you bolt upwards. It’s a ripple effect. When you come up, so does Lucio.
“Alright, get over here.”
“What?”
Lucio brings the covers with him when he pulls you close.  You rest your head against his chest, noting how quickly his heartbeat’s gone. You must have startled him, but he manages to calm himself down easily. You’ve got to learn how he does that...
It’s warm between the two of you, and the cuddle makes all the tension in your body die down.
Even a clear mind begins to wander.  It’s just what you’re good at.
Inhale...
What does the air around you taste like? Relief? Peace? Or nothing at all?
Just focus on the sound of Lucio’s breathing. It’s much steadier than yours...
Look around you, even though the room is dark. The walls will be waiting for you tomorrow, only they’ll be illuminated by the rays of the morning sun.
“Don’t think I haven’t noticed, m/c.” He finally says. “You’re on edge. It’s okay. We’ve gone through a lot... so just hold on to me.”
You hear the playful smile in his voice towards the end of that sentence, but he just cradles you tightly, sleepily pressing his lips to any part of your skin he can reach.
“I’d sing to you, but I think it’d only make you have a nightmare,” he admits.  Your smile comes involuntarily, but he only chuckles alongside you.
If you weren’t so tired, this would be pure bliss.
Listen to the pounding heart next to you. Can you hear how it seems to beat for you?
Both of you seem to feel your body settling in the embrace.
“There you go,” Lucio soothes. “I’ve got you... just close your eyes.”
He’s so affectionate in these moments. If you can’t sleep, at least enjoy that.
You do as he says, and your eyes flutter shut. The dark feels so inviting.
You think about the subtle smell of perfume on the sheets. It’s your favorite- sandalwood and myrrh.
Feel your body expand from within when you inhale and feel your bones settle when you exhale.
For a minute there, you swore you heard Lucio humming alongside you. Was that real?
You notice the way your arms and legs continue to twitch on occasion, but you can feel it- you’re drifting off.
Some words slip out of your mouth in a mumble, but you couldn’t recall what you were trying to say.
The last thing you’re aware of is one last kiss to your forehead.
“Goodnight, m/c.”
Zzz...

Not The Plague
Lucio x MC scene! M/C’s coming down with something...
Gender Neutral MC
(Disclaimer: Based on Lucio’s route, minor spoilers)
You knew something was off the moment you woke up. Your entire body seemed to sink into the bed, weighing you down against the silk sheets.  Did you get into a fight without knowing? Were you hit by a cart? Why are you so sore?
It takes a few moments for the world to come into view. Last night’s dreams melt away, and you come to your senses.
You’re sick. That’s why you feel like this.
How did you catch something so quickly? You were completely fine last night.
You roll around, knocking yourself against Lucio’s body. He’s still half-asleep next to you. He responds to your shove with a groan. You know he won’t wake for another few minutes.
Just rolling to your side made your body ache.  You hate being sick. The smallest cold is still such a nuisance. It makes you irritable, and you can’t do anything but wait for your body to heal. Even magic has little effects on illnesses.
If you hadn’t spent the night at the palace, you’d at least have the comfort of a full bed, you think.
“Lucio.” You sound awful, and you erupt into a coughing fit, painfully turning away from him.
I absolutely cannot let Lucio get sick, you think.
After all, the man had the Red Plague for a year! Even a minor sniffle would be sure to set him off into hysterics, you think. Wouldn’t you be deathly afraid of sickness after going through that?
Oh... right.
You shake that thought out of your head- whatever you’ve come down with, it’s not the plague. It’s not the plague. Not again.
You sort of have to keep repeating that in your head while you wait for Lucio to wake. If you could, you’d get up and return to the shop. It’s no palace, but the amount of herbal tea you had stocked was enough to heal an army.
Lucio wakes up, confused as to why you’re at the edge of his bed, as far as possible from him. You wait for him to rub the sleep out of his eyes.
“M/c, you’re so far,” he grumbles. “It’s so early. Let’s cuddle.”
“Lucio, I’m sick-” Your cough burns your chest.
That seems to wake him up. He bolts upright, looking over at you in a moment of panic.
“Sick? Sick how?”
He leans closely to you, despite your efforts to push him back. What, does he enjoy disease? You cover your mouth as best you can, your blurred vision obstructed by Lucio’s intense gaze.
“I don’t know,” you finally respond. “I’m just sore- and my chest hurts when I cough.”
Lucio settles backwards, biting his lip in worry. He almost looks worse than you feel.
“Your eyes look normal... that’s good.”
He doesn’t look convinced. In fact, he’s deep in thought- which is... sort of rare. Lucio wasn’t the type to dwell on things... it doesn’t exactly bring you relief. His own worry makes yours escalate.
It’s not the plague. It’s not the plague. How could it be? Those damn red beetles disappeared over a year ago. You haven’t seen one since. It couldn’t be Lucio... could it? No! It can’t be. Shake the thought away.  You always catch colds- especially in the autumn weather. That’s all it is. Why are you so worried this time? You must be picking up Lucio’s energy.
Your thoughts are interrupted by his voice. He’s barking commands, demanding for someone to enter the room at once.
Before you know it, a servant is at your whim.
You notice how quickly Lucio got out of bed.
“Bring us a pitcher of water- find a doctor, immediately. Get Jules- now! No time to waste!”
You want to scold Lucio- you never felt right when he barked orders the way he did- but he was the Count... and you were suddenly so tired. You’d kill to be in your own bed. As much as you enjoyed Lucio’s company, this time felt different. There was too much tension in the air.  He’s already got half the palace scrambling around.
“Lucio... you don’t need to do all this.” You’re still grateful for the pitcher of water, however.  Lucio’s pacing the room, constantly looking over at you in a mix of fear and worry. It’s going to drive you crazy, you think, but you also realize that you’re a breath away from falling back asleep.
-
You open your eyes to a new sight: Julian Devorak.  He’s standing in front of Lucio’s bed, his arms folded towards the count. For him to come all the way to the palace for you... you’d have to repay him later. You solemnly wonder how much he hates being here- around Lucio.
The men notice you wake, and Lucio’s at your side.  Seriously? Doesn’t he realize I could be contagious?  Despite the irritability, you’re charmed by how worried he is. It’s sort of sweet. It’s not like him.
“M/c- good news. Jules says it’s the common cold.”
“I could have told you that,” you say. Secretly, you let yourself sigh- thank the Gods.
“All you can really do is stay here, m/c,” Julian faces you now, his expression softening now that he doesn’t have to speak to the count. “I’m sure you’ll be treated with lots of care here.”
With that, Julian excuses himself.
“Anything you need- you tell me,” Lucio brushes your hair out of your face, trying to hide his cringes when he feels how sweaty you are. “Pillows? Tea? Oh- you must want to eat-”
“Lucio, I’m fine. Really. Just sore. You don’t have to stay here, you know.”
His face falls, turning into a familiar pout.
“I... thought you’d want company. Aren’t you miserable?”
“With a cold?”
His eyes fall, eyeing his silk sheets instead of you.  Your being sick brings out a side of him you’ve never dealt with. There’s something sort of sad about his demeanor.
“Being bedridden.”
That’s when you realize. His behavior- being overly worried, demanding the servants to cater to you... staying by your side.
“You must have been so lonely when you were sick,” You say. “I wish I could have been there for you.”
He looks up at you- he’s fighting his emotions, and you can see it in his eyes.
“No one wanted to be around me that year- and not because of the plague. I know that.”
He won’t look at you now.
“All I wanted was to be surrounded by people who loved me- cared about me. Mercedes and Melchior could only comfort me so long. I couldn’t move, everything hurt- every day a reminder that I was dying alone.”
He reaches over and takes your hand- even though you’re sweating buckets. He tries to but on a brave face, but his memories clearly left him shaken.
“I don’t want you to feel like that for even a moment. Even if you had the plague... I’d stay here with you.”
You’re stunned into speechlessness.
You knew Lucio had changed, but this was... there weren’t words. You still don’t really believe it.
And before you know it, he’s got a smirk plastered on his face. His hand is still in yours, and he lays atop his own bed, leaving you tucked under the blankets. He looks you over for a minute- likely basking in your awed expression.
“I see you can still be charmed. I know that look of yours all too well. I don’t blame you, frankly. It’s too bad you can’t properly kiss me, m/c.”
And he’s back.
You start to laugh, even if it transitions to an ugly cough.
“Yeah, yeah,” you mutter. “Just stay with me, will you?”
With another satisfied smile, Lucio reaches over and brings a glass of water to your parched lips. He’s got you leaning against him now. He’s careful not to scratch you with his golden claws, but you couldn’t be bothered with that.  For once, he’s catering to you.
“You better enjoy this, m/c. I’ll be the best caretaker you’ve ever had.”

Nightmare
A short, comforting Lucio x MC scene!
Gender Neutral MC
(Disclaimer: Based on Lucio’s route, minor spoilers)
It’s a cold and dark night, but you’re safe within the walls of the palace. You’re in Lucio’s bed, peacefully dozing off to the smell of a candle that’s gone out.
You alternate between dream world and reality. You can feel Lucio tossing and turning next to you- deeply asleep, of course. You’re tempted to steady him, but you don’t want him to wake. You simply turn to face him. Sometimes he talks when he’s out- just a few words here and there, or something unintelligible, but it’s enough for you to smile at when you’re restless.
This time is different. He’s obviously stressed- frowning, clutching at the sheets and breathing heavily. You don’t put two and two together, being half-asleep.
“M/c..?”
He’s said your name. Is he dreaming about you?
Careful not to disturb him any more, you reach over and brush his hair out of his eyes. Even if he hadn’t been squirming around, Lucio almost always woke up with his golden hair tussled wildly- and he hated it.
You start to consider waking him up now- he’s beginning to sweat. This had to be some sort of nightmare- you know them all too well. You should wake him, gently.
But before you get the chance, Lucio cries out and rolls over towards you, cradling you in a squeeze you can’t break from. It’s not painful, but it’s shocked you. You’re definitely awake now.
“Lucio?!” You gasp.
His eyes fly open, and he breathes out sharply, like he’s been hit. He doesn’t take in his surroundings- he’s only breathing heavily, and you have to bring him back to earth. He’s still clutching onto you. You normally wouldn’t mind, but something feels off. Lucio’s... afraid.
“It’s just me, dear. Are you alright?”
But he doesn’t listen at first, he’s shaking, his silver eyes darting all around the room. Does he even realize you’re there- how he’s desperately holding on to you?
“Lucio!” You finally call out and his head whips to the side, looking you over. His breathing seems to steady, and he loosens his grip around your shoulders. You relax, but a heavy feeling settles in your gut.  He’s somehow still half-asleep, but your heart sinks from the look in his eyes.
“M/c?” He croaks. “Oh...”
He wants you to console him- you’re sure of it. Something’s holding him back.  Was he that shaken from his dream? Can he even move?  You take the initiative and bring him close to your chest. He gratefully nuzzles your neck, returning the embrace.
“Oh, m/c...” He sighs.
“That must have been a hell of a dream.”
That sounded awkward, you think. He’s obviously distressed- not in the mood for humor. You meant what you said, even if it sounded lighthearted.
“...Yeah. It was.” He won’t say anything else.
You’ve only seen Lucio like this one other time. When he was lost in the realms, buried underneath the snow. How lost he felt... when you held him and he couldn’t trust your touch...
The memory makes your heart ache.
Looking at him now... it’s almost the exact same reaction. He seems close to tears, but he clearly doesn’t want you to see it. You just hear him sniffle against you. All you can do is comfort him- you squeeze tightly.
“I’m right here,” you soothe. “Whatever you dreamt wasn’t real.”
“Yes, it was.” His voice is strained. It almost makes you frustrated. He knows he doesn’t need to hold back with you- why is he trying so hard to stay put together?  He had called your name in his sleep... is that why he won’t speak?
Lucio straightens himself up. You’ve gotten adjusted to the dark by now, and you can see that he did indeed, let some tears stream down his cheeks. You wipe them gently and place a kiss on his cheek.
What did that mean? His dream was real?
“No,” you promise. “Whatever you saw-” That’s not true. You know better than anyone- dreams can very well be real. You fall silent at the thought. Did you even want to know? Look at his face! Even fully awake, he’s traumatized.
“Why don’t I get you a glass of water?” The entire palace is asleep by now- you weren’t going to have someone else wake just to fill a pitcher. You doubt Lucio would even want anyone seeing him in this state.
He only clings on to you.
“No- I’m... just stay. Please.” He sniffles. “You’re right- it was just a dream. Real or not. Can you just... stay?”
Of course you were going to stay.  You pull the blankets over the two of you, snuggling up to him as he recollects himself.
It’s still very dark out- not even close to dawn. The world seems to be at a still. The moon is hidden from plain view tonight, leaving a black night over the town of Vesuvia. If you focus, you hear the winds howl from afar.  On any other night, you’d prop yourself up against the window, admiring any city lights that lingered after hours. Tonight, it felt... haunting. At least you had Lucio in your arms.
“What did you dream about?”  The words leave your lips before you can stop yourself.
It takes him a moment to respond.
“It was a mix of some very... miserable memories.” At first you think that’s all he’ll let on.
“Obviously, you were there.” He admits. “You were in trouble. I couldn’t... and I couldn’t do anything about it.” He shuts his eyes.  “I failed you.”
You don’t move for a moment. He won’t explain any further. It doesn’t quite get that question out of your head- how was the dream real? It doesn’t matter, you decide.  You console him before he gets any more worked up.
“You haven’t failed me, Lucio.”
“But I did.”
You sigh, unsure of how to proceed.  Had he dreamt about the plague? It seems likely...
“You didn’t fail me,” you repeat. Lucio opens his mouth to protest, but he stops himself after looking in your eyes. ”I truly feel that way,” you assure.
He won’t speak again, but you feel his fingers brush against your lips. Against your jaw. You soon feel a warm kiss on your forehead.
Your eyelids begin to droop.  Being under the blankets like this... it’s so cozy...
“Why don’t we go back to sleep?” You offer. “I promise to hold you all night.”
You both settle into a dreamy haze, just before the sun begins to poke its way through the dark Vesuvian sky.

Count Restless
The Lucio update was so pure, so here’s just a pinch of angst!  Lucio x MC
Gender Neutral MC
(Based on Lucio’s route, minor spoilers):
A loud, harsh knock on the door makes you nearly fall out of bed.
Go. Away.
How dare someone come to the shop after midnight!
Even when Nadia came to you at a late hour, she had the courtesy to come before bedtime...
You peek out the window, but you can’t see anything in the rain. As irritable as you feel, you can’t help but curiously creep out of bed. If someone’s at the door in this weather, they’ve got to be desperate.
You rub the sleep out of your eyes as you make your way down the stairs. The knocking comes again, now a little more hesitant from the other side.
“Alright, I’m coming,” you mutter.
Just hope they’re not actually here for a reading.
It takes you a moment to undo the spell you’ve casted on the door, but when you swing the door open, you feel your face twist in shock.
“Oh!”
You almost don’t recognize the Count in front of you. Maybe it’s the rain soaking his hair and clothes, or his bare face- no painted on brows, no red or black makeup... but that’s not really what throws you off.
It’s the expression.
He’s been crying.
Lucio’s eyes are red from stress- teary and puffy. His shoulders slump over, possibly from the cold rain. He shivers at the sight of you, but doesn’t say a word.
It almost seems like he can’t. The worst is seeing how his lips quiver, in a perfect frown.
This was nothing like his usual pout.
You pull him inside, your heart suddenly aching. He presses his body against yours in a rushed hug. He’s buried his face in your shoulder, trembling like crazy. It’s scaring the hell out of you- he’s never been like this before.
He came all the way here, like this?
Especially after earlier this week. You hadn’t parted on the best of terms. The last time you saw Lucio, he was frantic, half-asleep, but coherent enough to kick you out of his room in the middle of the night.
You were furious... but it doesn’t matter now.
All you can do is hold him back and comfort him, but a fear in the back of your head tells you it won’t be enough.
“...Lucio?” Your voice carries all your fears, shaking as you try to speak. “What’s wrong?”
If you weren’t awake before, you sure are now. You can hear your love’s heartbeat pounding against his chest, almost into yours.
“...I can’t sleep,” is all he can say.
You’re silent, trying to put the pieces together.  You smooth down his hair, still tightly embraced.
They must be getting worse.
Lucio’s been having awful dreams ever since he’s come back. They didn’t happen at first... you’d think he’d be more afraid when he quite literally had the Devil after him. Maybe now that everything was over, it’s all caught up to him. Everything he went through. Everything he did.
Of course, you weren’t supposed to know about the nightmares, which is why he sent you on your way the first time he’d had one.
You still remember waking from your sleep in his bed, having to nearly hold him down as he thrashed against the sheets and blankets.  How embarrassed he looked when he woke. You felt so bad... but it’s nothing to the way you feel now, feeling him shiver in your arms.
“Oh dear. Come in.” You pull him out of the cold, and into your dimly lit shop.  You turn your back for a moment, focusing your magic to create a small beacon of light. You hear Lucio sniffle loudly- most likely wiping his tears before you can really see.
“I’ve got a thousand herbs that can help you sleep,” you start.
“No!”
You turn around sluggishly. Lucio may not be tired, but the panic you felt earlier has settled down, leaving you in a half-asleep state.
Meanwhile, Lucio’s grim expression has almost transformed into sheepishness.
“It’s not that I can’t sleep, exactly...”
He pouts, rubbing at his puffy eyes. Your own eyelids begin to grow heavy. “It’s that I don’t want to.”
“Why don’t you want to?”
For a moment, his entire face changes. You’re not sure what you just saw, but it was dark. He genuinely looked... afraid. Haunted.
“Does it matter?” He finally manages to muster a weak smile, but somehow it feels so... wrong. “I just missed my m/c.”
He missed you?  That’s funny, considering how he acted the last time you saw him...
He looks at you expectantly, but your exasperation must show. He winces.
Truly, you love this man, but there was no way you’d be able to stay awake with him much longer- not tonight. The exhaustion’s settled into your bones at this point, and your legs ache to be laid down in your bed...
But you can’t get his expression out of your head. How shaken he was, standing out in the rain...
You try and muster up a wobbly smile before interlacing your fingers with his.
“You know you’re welcome to stay,” you offer.
A smile briefly flickers across Lucio’s face, but your vision’s adjusted to the dim lighting. He doesn’t look so great. He must have gone a long time without sleeping- possibly days. It’s taken a toll on him, and... it hurts, to see him this way.
“Great!” He speaks with a sudden energy, as if he hadn’t been completely broken just moments ago. “How should we spend the time? Got anything to drink around here...? Oh! We should play a game! I know tons of fun ones.”
“Lucio...”
You’re not even sure where to start. He drops the act, eyes falling to the floor.
“Ah... I know.” He says. “I... owe you an apology.”
You cross your arms- still exhausted, but now you’ve got a mix of emotions rising up through your chest. Anger, hurt... confusion, sadness... Love. Practically everything.
“When I... asked you to leave the palace the other night, it wasn’t... because of you. You know that.”
You’re silent.
“I shouldn’t have done it. I’m sorry.”
“Why did you, then?”
Lucio scoffs uncomfortably, his eyes darting to everything in the shop but you. He straightens his back a bit, folding his arms.
“You’re going to make me spell it out, aren’t you?”
You’re silent. He sighs, but he’s finally looked into your eyes.
“I couldn’t let you see me like that- scared, panicking... vulnerable. Not after all we’ve been through. Things are supposed to be all better now- and... I’m still having nightmares, like a child.”
He scoffs again, but it’s dangerously close to sounding like a sob.
“But I need you, m/c.” He admits. “I can’t sleep. Not without you.”
You find yourself rushing to his arms, wrapping yourself around him tightly. He leans into your touch, kissing your shoulder with desperation before muttering another apology.
Why wouldn’t he just say all of this earlier? ...you know the answer to that.
“You can always come to me. Always.” You whisper. He only squeezes you tighter in response.
Why he thought he had to do it alone, you don’t understand. Frankly, you don’t want to think about it. There’s too much going through your head. You’re curious as to what he’s been dreaming about. He hadn’t come clean about that yet, but it had to be awful enough to send him to your shop during a storm. Your mind continues to race, but it’s too late to be doing this right now.
“Let’s just... go to bed.”
For a moment, he’s frozen.
“You need to sleep, Lucio. I’ll be next to you all night. I promise.”
The words hang in the air, but Lucio’s shoulders begin to slump in relief.
“Okay.”
Hand in hand, your tired bodies occasionally knock into each other as you make your way to bed, desperate for peaceful rest.
Zzz...
