Favorite color: I'm going to let you in on a small secret, it's gray. Rainstorm grey to be exact. Obviously I don't tell most people this in person bc then people think I'm depressed. So, I say something like emerald green or slate blue.

So, I get pretty tired of people treating zombies as the kind of monster that is going to instantly and easily form a horde and, soon, destroy the world... while still being something Joe Protagonist can down with a single handgun and maybe one or two bullets to the face.

While the main threat of zombies ever since Night of the Living Dead is definitely the horde, the fact of the matter is that these stories rarely start by plopping a whole horde down in the middle of a huge social gathering, and even when they DO start with a whole graveyard or so, they’re somehow quite resilient against combined military forces until Mr. Hero rolls in with a shotgun.

For something that prides itself on being hard to put back in the grave, folks like the Zombie Go Boom team seem pretty insistent that a quick pencil in the skull is enough to put them down like something that feels pain.

So, if you’re thinking about the possibility of a zombie apocalypse, replace the zombies with people with rabies. Ask yourself how much more threatening the former is from the latter. If the only difference you can think of is “They’re dumber, more obvious, more sluggish, and slightly more aggro,“ look into why we haven’t had a rabies apocalypse and try again.
