!! I HAVE NONE OF THE STUFF OR EXPERIENCE !!

So I'm working on/wanting to make the Poltergust 5000 from Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon, which has been one of my favorite games ever since I first got it in 2013 or 2014. (Having favorite status does not make it immune to me forgetting about its existence for months at a time. No, I have not finished this game.)

My original plan was to use one of those toy or real vacuums that everyone else uses, however there are a few problems with that.

1, I am a fursuit handler and general handler/costume help in my group of friends. So I would be really impractical for me to have a big thing on my back and 2+ other bags on me. So it needs to be able to open to store stuff.

2, The vacuums tend to be really small and really uncomfortable, and I have major sensory issues, especially with my back, so that just wouldn't do.

So I talked to this guy I met yesterday at work, while we were waiting on a task to do, and he suggested those bubble cat backpack things. I got super excited because that would work perfectly!! It's big and comfortable enough, and I can hold mine and my friends' stuff while we're walking around!!

So I ordered a gray one. The plan is to paint the clear part red and then figure something out for the button panel and vacuum hose. I want the hose to be detachable for easy storing, repair, and so I can use the bag without it.

So, my first thought was cutting a hole for the hose and putting a thing that the hose can connect to in its place. I'm not exactly sure how that would work, so I'm getting a second opinion on that. My other thought is gluing the attachment piece onto the acrylic itself, so I don't have to deal with cutting it.

There's also magnets, but I'm not sure if that would work.. or if I'll be able to get my hands on some that are strong enough.

That leaves the button panel, the hose itself, the wheels, and the actual flashlight/vacuum head.

From the cosplay crafting videos I've watched, using a black vacuum hose with cut-up pvc pipe works best. Or is at least what they all use. So I might follow their lead on that one. I'm gonna talk to my dad about all this to see if he has any thoughts. He's not a cosplay guy, but he has a garage with tools, so..

I have no ideas for everything else.. And unfortunately, I'm incredibly picky with a mile long list of things I don't like(over-exaggerating). I don't want to do the big big buttom that I've seen. I'm not a fan of it.. I don't know what else I could do, though. I have a short time frame and a small budget.

Oh!! Another thing!! I want to find a way to attach the vacuum head to the bag body so I can go hands-free from time to time. Like while I'm eating or guiding people or something.

If anyone who sees this has any ideas, I'd love to hear them because this is my first time doing any of this. That being said, I will be updating on the progress of the Poltergust 5000.

I had to fight with Amazon to order it, so my mom did for me, so I'm not sure when the bag is getting here, but some other stuff is arriving tomorrow, so hopefully then as well!!

10 min walk from the car to theater:

*Group of 8 or so teens* -"Yoooo! The Super Mario Bruhas!" -"Its Mario and his brother!" -"Can we get a photo!!!" "Sure!" *multiple photos taken* -"Yo yo yo, I don't know you dude *pulls out phone, starts live streaming* but I got my mans Mario *shakes hand* and my mans Luigi *shakes hand* out here representin'! Thank yall for bein out here!" *Car driving by slows down, rolls down window*: *Small kids hands wave out* "Its MARIOOO!!!" -Hello~! *we wave back*

*Another car lets down windows* *More small hands waving* -"Mariooo!!! Luigiiii!" -"Wahoo~!" *we wave back*

-Theater Lobby, before the Movie-

*Family; 2 adults 3 small kids approach* -Small girl insta hugs Mario, not saying anything at all & didn't want to let go, before the family can even ask for a photo xD *Takes multiple photos with 3 or 4 other families with small kids, back to back before we can actually get to the theater screen*

*As we walk to our seats, in front of the screen* hear kids chatter "Look Mario and Luigi!" "Ooooooo!" "Mario's here!"

-We saw it in a packed 4D theater, families of all ages in audience! -Theater cheered and clapped a few times during awesome moments in the movie! -The crowd and energy was wholesome and feel-good the entire time, I was grinning ear to ear throughout!

-Theater Lobby, after the Movie-

-We get stopped by 3-4 families for more photos with their kids

-One kid was wearing this awesome suit (we did not get a chance to get a photo of him for ourselves) but more families passing by took many photos of us together, for almost 5 min

*One dad after taking photos for his kids* -"How long will you guys be out here?" -"We just got out of the movie ourselves, we're about to leave" -"Wait, you don't work here?" -"No, we just dressed up to see the movie xD" -"Well they need to be paying you!" -"The manager needs to hire yall, I'm serious!" -"Nah, we just dressed up for fun, to put some smiles on faces :D"

-While that was going on: One of dad's girls tried to stealthy tip Luigi a few dollars for the photo ops, Luigi respectively declined xD

10 min walk back to the car:

-More kids wave from windows exclaiming "Mario and Luigi!" -Few more teens, excitedly ask for photos -Ran into another Mario and Luigi heading to the theater, but they were wearing nice red and green suits with the hats.

All in all an 11/10 movie experience! We loved every moment!

Made a little sona for Our Life: now and forever !!!! And since we only got a bit of step 1 and a preview of step 2 for the demo I’ve gotta admit I’m absolutely destroyed this game is comin out next year LOL!!! Immediately whipped and in love with all the characters and now I’m stuck in dev hell so !! I drew this and will probably draw more moments of what I think might happen or just moments outside of the set script in the game

Unfortunately I’ll be hit with the emo Ray but there’s not much you can do, I accidentally based it off of stuff I’d wear in middle school before remembering step 2 is set in the beginning of highschool (fml I only realized now while making the post like “wait a fucking minute” and I’ll reap what I’ve sewn ig) and I just wore pjs and sports clothes, like whatever was comfortable so the emo clothes stay for the ref… they’ll change later. (I was also mainly thinking about how skinny jeans were “in” in middle school even if I hate them now, I wouldn’t even dare to wear them in highschool man inaccurate as hell 💔)

Also these are like the initial doodles of the little avatar I made (I actually had a cherry red jacket irl but my ma donated it long ago so I was a bit happy to see it as a clothing option :3) but I think this little moment in the demo where qiu was explaining why I should join the club and I got like stunlocked by that piece of dialogue, esp with tamarack joining in I was like “if I was 10 I would’ve been COOKED” LMFAO.

But I thought it was silly cuz the dialogue option when I first met him I thought it would’ve been cute and on brand to be like “woah You’re so pretty” and then want to explode when the words leave my mouth. Erm Anywyas I’m really tired I’d say a lot more about my thoughts and already blooming love for the game but I’m tired so hopefully I can blabber more with more art next time yippieee

Ok, so planning update!! (and what i got from amazon)

Let's start with what I ordered.

I got a Luigi hat, which I think I need to put something inside to give it a bit of a shape, because it's a bit flumpy on me.

I also got these gloves. However, as you can see, they're too big. So I'm gonna see if my dad or stepmom has any ideas for making it for better. I like the stripes at the back and the fact that I can use my phone with them. ye

Ok, now for the actual Poltergust plans.

The bag came with this insert, I think it's supposed to sit on the inside for the cat, buuut, I had another idea for it!!

I'm thinking I can attach it to the front to cover the three holes at the bottom, and for the panel for the green light thingy and switches.

Like that. (I'd add the other images I took to see the other sides, but I don't remember tumblr's image limit, and I'm already at six.)

There's also these holes on the upper sides. I'm thinking of adding a clasp on one of the sides, using them to hold it. That way, I can put the vacuum hose there so I can go hands-free like this.

And then that leaves the pocket here. This is only on one side, so I have to do a bit more thinking for this, but if I make a wheel to use as a cover, I can attach it with magnets maybe and still have access to the zipper. I don't know how sensitive opening the top will be, with everything on it, so I want to try to keep the alternative opening.

That is all of my plans and ideas so far. I still need to get advice for the vacuum hose and the button panel, especially.

Oh!! I also have this cardboard box the bag came in, that I can use. So I'm keeping it. Big box!
