Taglist: @dangerousbluebirdpoetry @second-try-stevie @prettyinblack231
Notes: Man. Not going to like this is a bad time to lose my spark when I have 100 requests but it just because of the holidays. Also wanted to make this longer but I wanted to get something out. So I hope you enjoy.
Warnings: Yandere, yandere tendency, bad writing, obsessiveness, protectiveness, unhealthy relationships.
Tumblr media
Years has passed from when you were takin in by the king and queen, and only few when you had shown your true powers.
You hadn’t seen daemon and his wife and children in a few years but they had written letters, or when he would come late in the night to visit but you swore to keep a secret.
You had grown into a small young woman and to the people around you, they care so very dearly for you. Obsessed to put it lightly.
Daemon treated you like his own daughter and bought you gifts from his adventures. He missed you very much and he considered kidnapping you away from the life in the castle away from all the drama. They all had place you in the center of their war not caring for just you.
Speaking of the war, the two that were the head of it was your mother and sister. Alicent and rhaenrya.
Alicent thanked the gods everyday for sending you into her life and her childrens. You grew up to love them as your own siblings and treated her like your mother.
Rhaenrya did try and take you away from Alicent and push her way to also raise you. Sometimes in the morning when Alicent would come to help get you ready rhaenrya was right there already helping you.
But as time grew their sworn protectors also took a interesting in you and become protective as well.
Sir harwin and sir cristin cole tried their best to win you over. They both would promise and help you train when it was allowed, they even got you very small gifts to make you like them more then the other. Of course the girls encourage this.
Sir hawrin was always kind to you and you liked him very much, sometimes you did wonder if he was jace and Luke’s father but you never asked because it didn’t matter. You loved the boys no matter.
Cole followed you around at your mothers command and it go annoying. But he’d find a away to flip it around and say he’d take you train later. Alicent did push cole into your life because he was always with her.
Viserys over time got sicker and you were always called to his room. You’d read to him and talk to him some nights. You walked around with him more then anyone because he was your father. He welcomed you in court as a cup barer. And sometimes if you had a opinion he’d listen to you.
But as the children grow with you, the more their feelings did. Just like their parents.
And now two of the boys have crushes.
Tumblr media
The strands of hair between your fingers felt soft as they usually do, the white shine it had was always something you cared for. You looked down at the boy who laid his head in your lap while his face was coved by the book in his hands. “Aemond?” you ask. The boy quickly dropped then book down to looked up at up at you- He usually dropped anything he was doing for you.
He didn’t give a vocal answer but you could tell his focus was solely on you, his eyes filled with Curiosity of your next words. “Do you think one day you’ll get a dragon? I know you wish so hard for one, but one day when you do get a dragon..” you looked away and a breath was let out.
“Will you love it more then me?”
Aemond didn’t believe the words he listened to, Will he love it more then you? How could he love anything more then you, you being the most important thing in his life: His twin flame. The prince was quick to shot up from your lap and careful not to harm you. Taking your hands into his and holding them so soft and sweet but the grip was still there to get his point across.
“These words you speck are far from anything I will ever be capable of doing my dear sister. No dragon, big or small, no matter it’s color or strength.” His eyes held the truth and you could see the darkness behind his eyes from as long as you could remember. “I will never love anyone or anything more then you, my love. I might not have a dragon, but I have you.”
A smile of happiness and relief reached your lips and you pulled him into a hug which he quickly returned with a laugh. No matter how many times you hugged him you seemed to bring a light into his dark and lonely mind. “I’ll get you a dragon one day but i’m glad you settled for me.” You had dreams of one day getting a dragon for your brother so he could be happy. Maybe you had some doubts of him loving it more then you but as long as he was happy you would try.
Before he could respond the door of the Library swings open and the faces you see are your younger nephews, Jacaerys and lucerys, the brown headed boys took a second to scan over the room but soon their eyes fell on you. The spark in their eyes got wider in excitement but it fell short when they noticed the boy holding you. Aemond’s face lifted up as a small smirk planted on his lips and held you closer. “What is it now?” His annoyed voice called out but you rolled your eyes and pushed him softly away to stand up. He looked hurt but you held out a hand to help him up.
“Our mother called for her. She has gone into labor and she wants her to be there.” You gasped and rushed away from aemonds side and over to the boys. “Thank you for telling me.” Dashing passed to boys and out into the hallway disappearing, leaving the boys glaring at each other. Aemond was the first to speak up, “You do know this is our special place right? I’m surprised you even know there is a Library.” Walking closer to them the boys stand defensive.
“And what about you? You always take her away from us when we should be the ones with her, or you constantly take her out of her duties. My mother said you aren’t even her real brother and that we are closer.” Jaces words hit aemonds heart like a knife and it got him fired up. “You want to say that again?” He got closer in jaces face ready for any move about to be made.
“She is my sister.” The white haired prince yelled. Only for the shout of the other prince made him freeze.
“She will be my betrothed.”
The words lefted jaces mouth in a harsh truth and his pride and demanding tone as he recalled the words and whispers his mother told him. Aemond’s hand clinched tight as rage filled his body and over take him almost too bearable to shake. Blood of the dragon did run deep through his veins.
“Say that again.” The older prince took steps forward to close the gap between them, the youngest held tight onto his brother in slight fear. “Y/n is ours, she’s our aunt.” No one payed attention to him because he was not important at the moment.
“What’s going on here?” A stern voice bounced off the walls and broke the glares of hatred between the two princes. The boys turned to see sir harwin: a knight of the kings guard but only young Luke was blind to what he really also was, who he fathered. Jace quickly smiled and swung a arm around Aemond’s shoulders, “We are just bickering about a stupid game.” It took all of aemond to suck up his anger and force a smile back.
The boys quickly ran behind the guard as he lead them out and told them it was time to leave the library and go to the dragons pit. The biggest man’s back was turned and it gave Aemond one last time to speck and get his point across.
“She is mine.”
You walked back and fourth with anxiety as you listened to the yells and screams from the next room. No matter how many times you listened you couldn’t get used to it. The panic you felt made your blood pump faster and the wave of emotions all collided. Golden eyes shined brighter then normal like the sun had taken their place, black nails replaced your normal ones at your fingertips looking like it could cut through anything, then wings on your back ready to come out at any second.
It’s been a few years since your powers showed and yet you still do not know how to contain them as best as you wished. You could do more things then you could before and are better now but emotions are your down fall.
The screams come to a end and you smiled waiting to be welcomed into the room by the maids. You waited and waited for a minute or two but the doors never opened but you were joined by sir leanor and he gladly took you into his arms seeing your distress. “My dear ease your mind, no need to be worried let the thoughts drain out.” His soft voice hushed you and you hadn’t noticed everything becoming calm and quiet.
You sigh of relief and pulled back as he brushed your hair and he said asked you “Better?” You nodded along and offered his a smile. “Better.” In times of panic you often find yourself being calmed by your family. He was one of them. He pushed the doors open and you followed behind him while walking into her quarters. “A boy? Well done.” The pride in your heart that you had a new baby nephew blinded your head.
“Why are you walking.” His question pulled you out of your happiness for a moment seeing her limp in pain. “She wishes to see him.” You looked up at her confused. “Who?” You asked while she looks down at you and a light smile appears. “Your mother.” Confused you followed behind while listening to them and you stood behind rhaenrya incase you had to catch her if she falls. But she had other plans as she turned back to you and he followed, “I do believe you are needed by your teacher.” You shook your head no but she placed a caring hand on your cheek.
“I will let you hold the babe later but now you must do your duties, my sweet girl.” Even though you didn’t want to leave her side it was best, even though you did not know the situation she was going into, you knew you wouldn’t be aloud to follow. “Keep her safe leanor,” kissing the babies head and giving a final goodbye you walked off to your training hall.
After training you had hoped to watch the boys train with your father as you had hope to give him company. He was getting worse over the years and it left a pit in your stomach knowing you’d lose him before you should but you still had time. “Father!” Yelling as you saw him sitting down over the edge of the wall next to his hand, Lyonel Strong he was Sir harwin father and you liked them both. Viserys brighten up and opened his arm out to you, kissing him on the cheek and giving him a small hug.
“How was training my sweet girl??” He asked. “As well as it can be though I am not sure my teacher sees it that way.” Humming you looked over at the training ground and saw your family. He nodded and laughed and told you that you’ll get better as time passes.
You saw Harwin bending down picking up the swords and other things while Cole walked to him but you couldn’t hear what was said. You watched as harwin froze then turned around to punch him in the face and you gasp. The scene played out and you gripped your dress as it got more violent and Harwin had to be pulled back as Coles face was blooded.
You heard him shout to ‘Say it again’ over and over while cole got up from the ground. “Take y/n to her mother.” Viserys told his hand but you shook your head, “No.” Before they could stop you, you had already taken off to the stairs and out into the grounds. The first one to see you was luke and he ran to hug you with Jace following. “Are you alright?” You asked both of them kindly.
“Princess you shouldn’t be here.” The bloody knight, cole stated. “I shall do as I wish no offensive, but I am not a weak maiden.” Rushing over to him you handed him your handkerchief and smirked. “Perhaps you remember the claw scar on your arm the last time we fought.” he just smiled and laugh. “I remember well princess.” He patted your head while looking at harwin as he glared at him back.
Showing the man that you came to his side before him to rub it in his face, there was tension again. “Let him go for a second.” You walked over to harwin and patted his hand, you waved your hand and he bent down. Everyone watched as you whispered something in his ear and as he smiled and laughed. You pulled back and they took him away.
“Secrets aren’t very nice, y/n.” Aegon yelled and walked over to you. “When have you ever cared about being nice?” He laughed at your response. “Have you come to train with me? Because these little boys know knowing.” He glanced at them and they rolled their eyes. You looked at him for a second and then your eyes got mischievous.
“Prepare to lose brother.”

1 & 6 from the angst prompt list
hughes!reader and her brothers
Angst: 1. “I told you to leave. Why are you still here?” & 6. “Do you ever listen to yourself?” Hughes!reader fight w/ brothers
Tumblr media
Alone
I was the youngest Hughes sibling and the only girl. Being the only girl, you think my brothers with each give me more attention. I was treated like one of the boys, but when it came to my hockey, I was treated differently.
I recently found out that I made the under 18 women’s US national team. Of course the first person I told was my mother and my father and they were both super excited for me.
The under 18 world championship was in Sweden this year. Which happened the week after Luke was in Canada for the world juniors. I had a feeling that I was gonna come second to Luke.
The excitement around my family wore off when most of the excitement with shined back onto Luke as he found out, he was an assistant captain for UMich. There was parties thrown for all three brothers, when they got drafted into the NHL. but once something big happens for me. I just got a good job.
It was a couple days before Quinn and Jack left to go back. And I was sitting in my room alone away from my family. my mother enters into the room and sit on the edge of my bed.
“What’s wrong chicky?” She asked me.
“Nothing get out” I say before turning in my bed, facing the other way.
“Jim, come here” my mother yells for my father and my father soon enters into my room.
“what’s going on?” my father says as he stands at the edge of my bed
“go away” I say again, “both of you“
“Hey watch your attitude.“ my father says.
“I don’t have one I’m trying to sleep”
“Y/n it’s 2 o’clock in the afternoon” my mother says
“can I not have a nap?”
“don’t speak to your mother like that” my father says raising his voice Slightly
I don’t even bother answering him. I just continue to stare out my window until my parents finally leave my room. after they shut my door I hear Quinn ask my mother what’s wrong. My mother responds That maybe Quinn should try talking to me.
My door that opens and Quinn walks in. “ what’s up?” Quinn says, and I ignore him. He makes his way around my bed and crosses his arms as he makes eye contact with me. I groan before turning and looking the other direction.
After I turn, I see Jack and Luke on the other side of my bed. “ what’s up your butt?” Luke then asks.
“oh, my God, will you all get out?!” I yell at my brother and take the pillow I was resting my head on and cover my face with it.
“ why are you acting psycho?“ Jack says. I take the pillow off my face and look at him.
“ I told you to leave why are you still here?“ I said all three brothers
“ because we want to know what’s wrong“ Quinn says
“ why do you guys care what I have to say now?“
“ do you think we don’t care about you?“ Quinn says
“ please Quinn, can you guys all just leave?”
“ no problem” Luke says leaving my room
“ shouldn’t you guys follow? since you’re so proud of Lukey”
“ why do you want attention so bad?” Jack asks
“ I don’t“
“ what’s wrong?“ Quinn presses at me again
“ oh my God Quinn. Jack literally just called me psycho and a drama queen within the first five minutes of being in my room.”
“ well do you ever listen to yourself?” Jack says.
“ yeah, I do because nobody else does around here“ I say, “ now can you leave so I can lock my door and be alone“
“ fine I’ll go hang out with Luke” jack says, leaving the room
“ typical“
“ you know I listen to you, right?” Quinn asks while he sits on my bed.
“ yeah but when some better news comes along, and it’s almost like everybody forgets!” I said, crossing my arms, “I bet everybody forgot I was even going to Sweden or that I play college hockey too”
“ who are you mad at?“ Quinn asked me
“ all of you“
Quinn then leaves the room, Jack and Luke enter moments later.
“Hey, y/n/n. Quinn just talk to us. I’m sorry. I’m proud of you Kid.” Jack says.
“ yeah I’m sorry too” Luke then chimes in, “ everyone super proud of you“
“ I hope you really don’t think that people don’t listen to you. You’re my baby sister I think of you more than I think my brothers.” Jack’s is making me laugh, then coming in and giving me a big hug.
“ yeah how can we not listen to you you’re so annoying” Luke says, making me hit a shoulder and he laughs coming in and giving me a hug next.
“ well Quinn‘s my favourite brother right now” I say, “ He’s the only one that listen to me today”
“ your favourite brother changes every day, I’m okay with quinn being your favourite today” Luke says

Please please please say we will get more of your fantastic one queen two kings thing story?
I love that story.
Need to have more dad Aegon and dad Aemond with Queen mom reader.
Has the kids asked about her and their uncle eggs siblings? And what happened to them?
Imagine trying to explain when they ask about readers parents and what happened. Maybe they heard somewhere that Aegon killed Nyra and so they come to see if it is true. That their dad killed their beloved mothers mother. Drama!!!!
But seriously I love this series. Seeing them with the kids. Love to see some cute fluffy moments but as wrote above the fluffy can be after the drama hahah.
I need to see the two dads with twin daughters. How much they would love and spoil them etc. also how protective Aegon would be with all his kids as we saw in the one shot about his oldest daughter that he had with Helena. I imagine he would be so protective of all their future children after what happened to his two sons.
So sorry this is long. Really love your stories. :)🌸⭐️
omg anon I didn't expect this at all, it's been a long time since someone wrote to me about "The Queen and her Husbands". I'M HAPPY THAT YOU ENJOY THAT UNIVERSE SO MUCH 🥰🥰
Honestly I have so many wips and ideas with dad Aegon, dad Aemond and Queen Reader mom but I haven't finished writing them.
This is sad but I don't see the Queen talking to her children (except Aemon) about Rhaenyra and her brothers. The Queen didn't like to think about her mother, she has unresolved problems with Rhaenyra but she also regrets how she treated her, so if she can avoid talking about her the better. But I imagine Egg sometimes talking about Rhaenyra to his nephews, it makes him sad but he knows that it bothers Aegon II that he talks about Rhaenyra so he keeps doing it 🤪
I can see Alyssa going to Aegon after Egg tells her a story about Rhaenyra.
Alyssa: Why did you kill grandmother Rhaenyra? She was great"
Aegon II: She wasn't great! She killed your brother Jaehaerys!
Alyssa: Oh…
Returning to the Queen. She thinks about her brothers every day and she always misses them. But she doesn't talk about them because she knows that would upset Aemond. Just imagine Reader telling how wonderful her siblings were and then Daella saying "I want to marry someone as kind as Uncle Lucerys was", Baelon and Daeron saying "When I grow up I want to be like Uncle Jace" or Baelon and Alyssa going to complain to his father why he murdered his uncle. AEMOND WOULD LOSE HIS SHIT
Now why does the Queen talk to Aemon about her brothers? I have the headcanon that she accompanies her son to the yard for him to train, in that she finds the mark (that mark that Jace shows to Luke in chapter 8) and without thinking she tells Aemon the story of that mark. After that she makes him promise that he won't tell anyone, that it's a secret. Weeks pass and the Queen realizes that Aemon kept the secret so she begins to tell him more stories about Jacaerys, Lucerys and Joffrey. I can see Reader talking to her other children about her siblings but only on specific occasions. For example, Aelor feels self-conscious about being a bastard and she tells him about Jace, how he always pushed himself to reward something that wasn't her fault; Another occasion could be when Baelon is desperate to have his own dragon and Reader is scared that he will do something stupid. "Never think about getting on a dragon that already has a rider. I don't want you to end up like your uncle Joffrey." 😭
About the twin daughters, for now I don't think it will happen because the Queen already has too many children hahaha but I promise you that I will try to finish my wip quickly where Aemond lets his daughter comb his hair I 100% confirm that Aegon is protective of ALL of his children after losing Jaehaerys and Maelor
THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR WRITING TO ME ANON, IT REALLY MADE ME VERY HAPPY. IF YOU HAVE MORE THOUGHTS ON THIS SERIES, DON'T HESITATE TO SHARE THEM 🥰🥰💖💖

okay, so i watched the leaked episode and then i read all the comments and opinions on tumblr and twitter and i have come to my own conclusion.
**SPOILERS AHEAD**
Tumblr media
the plot, the theme of this episode is: grief.
all the characters and their interactions with each other all stem from the grief of losing king viserys. even though they were preparing for this moment it was still a shock.
RHAENYRA: she goes into shock and in the process of losing a father she then loses her baby. she has huge grief hanging over her heart, then learns of the treachery of aegon’s crowning. while everyone is demanding she go to war she is like hold up, let’s first gather allies and intel and make a smart course of action, she is trying to do her duty and is trying to uphold the promise she made to her father. but when she learns about luke’s death, you can tell she’s ready to unleash the dragons. she tried to do this peacefully but from her point of view, they stole her crown and killed her son. SHE LEGIT LOST HER DAD AND 2 KIDS IN 48 HOURS. HELL IS COMING.
DAEMON: the most important aspect of his character is that he loves his family, he loves his brother, and he loves rhaenyra. so when he finds out about his brother’s death, of course, he goes into a rage; and then listens to his wife’s screams unable to help her, and then in the end loses a baby. it’s hard for him to understand why rhaenyra isn’t raging like him. so when she tries to talk about the prophecy and he has no clue of course he going to react the way he did. IM NOT MAKING AN EXCUSE FOR THE DOMESTIC VIOLENCE (HIM CHOKING RHAENYRA IS HORRIBLE AND DISGUSTING), but understand that a character like daemon who uses violence to express his rage and frustration a lot is going to react like that when he discovers that his brother's last betrayal was not trusting him with that secret.
DAEMYRA: everyone is raging over how they ruined this relationship but honestly i feel like the writers are just showing the complexities of this relationship because they are processing grief in their own ways. TOGETHER they lost a daughter and a father/brother. while one is raging the other is cold. so when rhaenyra is like all prophecy talk of course he’s going to be angry and react like because he is a violent man. BUT when the news of luke’s death reaches dragonstone he is the one to tell her and console with her. I FEEL LIKE THIS EPISODE SHOWED THEIR RELATIONSHIP AT A TOUGH TIME AND HOW THEY REACTED TO GRIEF, BUT I ALSO FEEL LIKE THE EPISODE ALSO HIGHLIGHTED HOW THE RELATIONSHIP IS A PUSH AND PULL DYNAMIC, they push each other apart only to pull into each others arms again. I also feel the setup for season two because the beginning of episode they are both helpless and unable to help each other in their grief, but i feel like luke’s death is going to bring that to an end.
RHAENYS: she was a queen in the last episode and she was a boss in this one. i honestly felt like she didn’t have a huge role at the beginning of the season until the last couple of episodes. i felt like she was all loner girl and was like i don’t want to be part of your bullshit drama, and when her husband is like: im finally agreeing with you, FUCK THE BLACKS AND THE GREENS. RHAENYS ENDS UP BEING #TEAMRHAENYRA. QUEEN SUPPORTING QUEEN. She notices her family is falling apart because of the Hightowers and she like not on my watch, though Rhaenyra is the mother who is grieving and trying to hold back a war, Rhaenys is the grandmother who has her back by bringing the family together and more allies to the table.
LUCERYS: baby boy, was just trying to make his mama proud. i felt like he was very anxious and scared of failure throughout the episode. like he’s gained this huge responsibility of being heir to driftmark, then learns that his grandfather died only to witness his mom in agonizing labor pains all while trying to prevent a war. he loves his mother that’s very clear from the beginning from confessing his fears to volunteering to be an envoy. i felt like his death was not all how we expected it to be but his death is the breaking point of the war.
Overall, I felt like this episode wasn’t an assassination on the characters but honestly a deep dive into their emotions, reactions, and their complex relationships.
Honestly, this episode reminds me of that EW interview Matt Smith and Emma D’Arcy had because they said basically if they had actual conversations with each other so much pain and hurt could be avoided.

Hi, hope you had a good holiday season :)
I read your new work and I absolutely love that you're doing the year of the red spring, it's one of my favourite parts of the dance there's just so much drama. I know your Laenor's funeral is going to be soooo good.
If this comes up later in the fic, completely cool to ignore this obviously, but since we're already passed the jace, luke - twins betrothals, I'm going to assume it won't. I love your depiction of Daemon and was wondering what you thought his opinion of the Strong boys - and particularly Jace as heir to House Targaryen- was? I know some people think he loved those boys like - or even more than - his own children, while others think he would have resented that they looked like Harwin/weren't 'Valyrian enough'.
Do you think he would've cared if his future grandchildren took after Jace more than Baela as long as they were the heir?
Do you think he regretted the betrothals after Aegon was born and he had his own son for his daughters to marry?
Thank you and have a great day :)
Hi there 😊
Thank you so much for your beyond lovely words, and I am so happy you are liking it! Haha you know I am all about the drama X'D
Tumblr media
Ok before I answer I just really have to take this: "I know some people think he loved those boys like - or even more than - his own children..."
And just:
Tumblr media
That's a lovely fanfiction right there in my opinion. And one that became increasingly more popular after a certain redacted show. Who would have guessed after Ryan turned Daemon into Prince Matt Daemon who is a spineless loser with impotence in love with his brother who doesn't give a f_ck about his daughters, is more into some random Pentos dude than the woman he marries, throws tantrums like a kid and goes to Renada's wedding to throw his limp d:ck in her face and do nothing, likes to be her lap dog but later chocks her because reasons?
Surprise, surprise.
Tumblr media
"while others think he would have resented that they looked like Harwin/weren't 'Valyrian enough'." - No, he would resent the fact that they were the children Rhaenyra had with another man. He would have resented the fact that the legitimate children he had with the woman he wanted to marry would not inherit the throne.
Back to your question you can find a lot of my opinions here which I think illustrate what I believe - from the books only - that Daemon thought and felt about his (grand) nephews - the ones who were not also his sons 🙂
In a nutshell though and to make this super clear -> Daemon was a man who lived in Westeros (in the asoiaf universe) and very much subscribed to the vast majority of Westeros views, when he didn't, it was because it didn't fit him - i.e., supporting Rhaenyra.
The person Daemon would want to inherit the throne after Rhaenyra would of course be his legitimate son by her, Aegon "Babycheeks" Targaryen. I am of the opinion that he would no doubt try to get rid of his (grand) nephews - the ones who were not also his sons - somewhere down the line even if a Dance did not happen.
I have (far too many) texts I have written about (asoiaf) Daemon and the type of man he was and his ambitions quoting several book passages, you can search for it on my tumblr archive. Certainly, Daemon Targaryen would not be the type of man who would give up the opportunity to be the king's father to be the queen consort's father, much less for the sake of three illegitimate boys who had no real claim to the throne, much unlike his own son Aegon.
All the best to you and happy 2024! 🥳

Blood and Steel (Part.2)
Aemond Targaryen x Reader
Warnings: it’s game of thrones hall, you know what you’re getting into. (But there’s no incest so yay!)
Summary: When Y/N left her noble house behind she set her sights on Dragonstone to swear fealty to the rightful heir of the seven kingdoms. What she didnt expect was to be made her ward as well as her handmaiden. Now she is her sworn protector and hidden in plain sight at Rhaenyras side. If anyone were to make a move against the rightful queen they would never se her coming. . . except for maybe a one eyed prince
A/N: you can find all available chapters on wattpad and Ao3! Enjoy my mediocre writing!
Tumblr media
"You shouldn't have done that."
"Oh and what was a supposed to do? Let the sword hit us?" You questioned, as the three of you took quick steps through the hallways of the Red Keep, heading back towards the guest quarters and away from the potential drama you may have caused.
"Of course not, we could have ducked."
"No offense but I don't think you two would have been quick enough."
"I thought it was amazing. Jace did you see the look on Aemonds face when she caught it?" Luke questioned, tugging on his brothers cloak in an attempt to slow him down. "He looked so startled."
"That's not a good enough reason to let it slide." Jace sighed, the three of you taking the stairs two at a time as he did. "Y/N, you know what our mother said. While we are here you have to lay low, act like a regular Lady."
"And I will ask it again. Did you want me to just allow that sword to take off my ear?"
Falling quiet you slowed your steps to take a breath, deep down you knew Jacaerys was right.
Ever since you had been ten and one you had not been raised in the traditional ways of a lady. Your late father had loved you dearly and instead of sending you off into the harsh world alone, he taught you how to protect yourself- despite your mothers wishes. But because of him you had gotten this far in life, and you intended to go much further.
And when you stepped foot on the docks of Dragonstone prepared to be a simple handmaiden in the castle, Daemon Targaryen had bore witness to what your father had taught you as you had thrown a fully grown boat captain over your shoulder when he had gotten to handsy.
And that was the moment an absurd yet brilliant idea was born. You were to be Rhaenyras handmaiden but also a act as a shield and sword hidden in plain sight when Daemon or any others were not around.
A sworn protector hidden right at her side.
And now here you were.
You hadn't wanted to leave the Princesses side earlier, but an order was an order and you had to continue to play your roll to perfection.
Luke and Jace continued to escort you back to your quarters in silence until you reached the massive oak door.
"We won't tell Mother. And I doubt Aemond will either. He doesn't like people knowing he can be caught off guard." Jace stated, opening the door for you as he did.
"I'm not worried about that. I'm worried about the several other people who also saw that happen. If word gets around it will compromise my position." Letting out a sigh you stepped through the threshold, running your palms down the creases in your dress. "You were right, I should not have done that, we probably could have ducked."
"Don't worry Y/N. I'm sure everyone will forget about it by morning." Luke added, giving you a reassured smile.
It was not forgotten about the next morning long story short.
You were halfway through breakfast in your quarters when Princess Rhaenyra walked in, sending you out your chair so quick one would have thought it had been lit aflame.
"Princess, forgive me. I did not know I was needed yet."
"Please, no need to get up for me. At least not right now." Rhaenyra smiled, crossing the room as she did before lowering herself into the chair across from you.
"I'm glad they accepted my request to have your quarters below mine, despite how you should be in the servants quarters."
"I'm very thankful. You did not have to."
"You're right, but I like having you nearby. I know Daemon appreciates it as well, especially when he's not around." She explained, folding her hands over the wood of the table that divided you.
"Luke and Jace told me what happened." She added, watching your face carefully.
"I'm so sorry Princess, it won't happen again. I was simply-"
"Reacting as one would if a sword was coming at them. You were simply protecting yourself. It was instinct" Rhaenyra explained softly, reaching across the table to grasp your hands. "Though I doubt any of those men have the reflexes you do."
"So I'm not in trouble?"
"Of course not my dear. And don't worry about gossip going around. Men are not known for going around talking about women they might see as a threat. It would only make them look weak in eyes of others."
At her words you cracked a smile, squeezing her hand slightly as you did. "Thank you Princess."
"You are welcome." She nodded before standing up, "now get dressed, we have a busy day ahead of us and I need my handmaiden at my side." And with a sly wink she turned and departed leaving you to your breakfast

Yoooo so hotd abo solves the succession battle imo before it truly begins…picture this…everyone thinks aegon is a beta right…but dudes actually a very late bloomer omega and presents in the middle of court during Luke’s inheritance of driftmark hearing just as his father makes it to his throne in the court room and tries to address Luke’s claim and all the drama Vaemond has…..so everything is chaos once aegon starts sweating and hits by floor moaning and all confused about what is going on…then boom and suddenly aegon is claimed by alpha jace who has smelt the heat and went cray without meaning to….there is nothing that can prevent it cause they are in heat and rut and aegons neck has been bitten with a mating bite he is compromised so jaces bethroal to baela is now void…so visery demand a septa to quickly marry them in front of everyone before they start ripping their clothes all the way off and are dragged to a room to consummate lmao aegon wakes up after and is horrified dude doesn’t want to queen or have responsibility he was happy out being a beta and not having too many expectations on him and people thought younger bro alpha aemond would have the real claim to the throne and challenge rhaenrya when the time is right…jace is a little confused but overall happy with the situation aegon so a very pretty and he is optimistic that as argon’s alpha he can change him for the better and it also is great that the successions drama has been sorted by this mating…rhaenyra and alicent is worried for jacr but is relieved they will be now at and now there is gunna be some grand babies lol and nowthe greens and blacks are forced to make peace for the sake of soon to be preggo aegon…
You are absolutely right about omegaverse and preggo Aegon solve everything and now Targaryen dynasty gonna last forever!
(It’s hilarious to see Vis called the Septa and announced the most quick marriage like ever…)
Now imagine this:
After Aegon and Jace woke back up and covered in mating marks they were both furious and found the whole thing ridiculous. Aegon accused Jace of taking advantage of him cause he never wanted to be bound to a Alpha and Jace went like “Me? taking advantage of you?? Maybe it’s you and your mother plotted this!” And they all went mad and fought with each other in bed (naked) and confusing all the servants
Vis loved to pretend he had a great and delightful family so he urged Jace and Aegon to have a grandkid soon and forced them to toast each other on every family dinner and Jace and Aeg went so sarcastic and tried to pissed each other off. Like “Jace you are the most amazing husband everyone could dream of I wish you didn’t choke on death tonight”and Jace was like “No need to worry you sure drown in your cups first” Rest of family either confused or amused
Although they fought war all the time they have to perform they duty and spent the rut together. And they couldn’t deny that not like their minds, their bodies loved each other and dying for more contacts. Even on some night after their sex they would hold each other quietly and just enjoyed their scents mingling and felt so peaceful and joy and then they were like fuck i went mad to find him attractive…and things got even worse after Aeg was preggo..

That fight between the children probably would have never ended in Aemond losing his eye had he not went on a spiel about bastards but guess who put those ideas in his head ? What normal 10 year old says shit like that “come at me again and I'll feed you to my dragon”/“you will die screaming in flames just as your father did bastards” ?? Even before that, Aemond was speaking about treason, he literally told Aegon that Helaena would be his QUEEN ??? Why was Alicent spreading rumors and causing unnecessary drama in the first place ? Nobody told her to do all of that and now she wants to act surprised because there's consequences to putting the life of the heir and her sons in jeopardy ???
I don’t think that people realise that Viserys sweeping the whole eye situation on the rug saves Alicent's children much more than Rhaenyra’s because no one realistically was going to take Luke’s eye but both of her sons committed treason that night.
And keep in mind that in the previous episode we literally had Alicent telling Viserys “she expects us to ignore her transgressions”, “I have raised this matter before and you forbade me to speak of it, so I held my tongue. To have one child like that is a mistake, to have three is an insult”. Viserys knew damned well it wasn’t Aegon that got that in Aemond’s head.
There are multiple factors to take into account that led to Aemond losing an eye, but Alicent is definitely one of them. Of course, it's easier for Greens stans to blame Jace and Luke because they once took part with Aegon in that cruel pig prank (for which there's no excuse, but they grew up unlike others) than acknowledge the fact Alicent had her part of responsability in what happened.
Alicent has been telling her sons that they're trueborn Targaryens and that Jace, Luke and Joff are bastards. Aemond, conceived between two married people, with a Targaryen father, one of the sons of the King and Queen of the Seven Kingdoms, doesn't have a dragon. Rhaenyra's sons, conceived out of wedlock, with only a Targaryen mother, all have a dragon. Alicent is surprised their dragons' eggs hatched, both because of her religious beliefs (they're the result of adultery) and because of misogyny (since Aegon, Aemond, Helaena, Jace, Luke and Joff both have only one parent with Valyrian blood, the only difference is that her children have a Targaryen father). But somehow, Rhaenyra's bastards as his mother call them are worthy of a dragon while he's not?
So when Aemond manages to claim Vhagar, this is literally the best moment of his life. He's not just worthy, he's better than them because not everyone could claim Vhagar, this legendary dragon. And those bastards had dared to mock him when he's clearly superior to them? Of course he welcomes the opportunity to confront them when he lands. The girls who just lost their mother aren't important either: he's become the bully here and can insult them too. It's his turn. Jace and Luke want to defend them? They're nothing. They're bastards, and he's just proven he is more worthy than them, he is a trueborn Targaryen unlike them. He enjoys the fight, especially since he's still feeling the adrenaline rush after riding Vhagar.
Viserys protected his daughter and her sons when he threatened everyone who would question their legitimacy. Their lives would have been in danger, the four of them, if Viserys had listened to Alicent about Rhaenyra’s children. But when he decides not to punish Luke for the accident and tells Alicent to let it go, he does indeed protect Aemond. As the legitimacy of Rhaenyra’s children isn’t questioned by the King (whose word is law), Aemond attacked Jacaerys Velaryon, next in line after Rhaenyra in the succession for the Iron Throne, and Lucerys Velaryon, Heir to Driftmark. Even being the son of the King and Queen of the Seven Kingdoms, this isn’t something he can do.
And yes, when Aemond talks with Aegon earlier in the same episode, he's already saying Helaena would be Queen:
Aegon: We have nothing in common. Aemond: She’s our sister. Aegon: You marry her, then. Aemond: I would perform my duty, if mother had only betrothed us. Aegon: If only. Aemond: It would strengthen the family. Keep our Valyrian blood pure. Aegon: She’s an idiot. Aemond: She’s your future queen.
If Helaena is Aegon's future queen, it means Aegon is the future King. Which also means that Alicent didn't only tell Aegon he should be the one on the throne after Viserys instead of Rhaenyra, she also told Aemond the same thing. They were indeed already speaking treason.

Happy holidays from Italy! I want to give you some snippets to read and to make you smile.
THE TWINS BECAUSE THEY DESERVE BETTER.
My personal headcannon is not only that Rhaena has his father's face and eyes, and she's very cunning and petty when she wants but she's more subtle about it(she married a Hightower out of love and maybe out of spite to her father)
She was going to marry Luke? Well at least she'll have a piece, a reminder of her mother, she will manipulate Luke to make him give her the reigns over Driftmark🤭
She will be legally the wife of the lord but indoors she's the lord of Driftmark;
She cares about Luke but she cares more about her position in society...AS SHE SHOULD.
Baela instead? She wanted to be queen, her bethrothed doesn't look so bad; she can't become queen? Well at least she will get Driftmark, running off to avoid a unhappy marriage with an older man; marry a bastard to get Driftmark and then clarify to your cheating hubby that he needs to get his shit together.
The motto"You aren't a fool, you need to be respected"
Also Dettles children? Nettles wanting to be out of the drama after the eye accident? I don't blame her at all🤣😭
Everyone: constantly reminds her she's a bastard
Her: yeah yeah of course of course, WHERE THE HECK ARE THE CHILDREN!?DAEMON HELP ME FOR GODS SAKE INSTEAD TO STAND THERE LIKE AN IDIOT
People here are loving her and hating her in the fandom🤣(why are they so stressed? I don't see anyone getting so fed up with Alys..oh right!😙 wonder why? Mhhh maybe they are in love with her well who wouldn't? I want to be as cool as her😁)
Happy holidays and a happy New Year to you too!
I love these headcanons 🙌🏽 Baela taking her own life into her hands is who she is. People write off Rhaena, but both girls inherited their mother’s spunk, she’s just more diplomatic than her sister.
Nettles can’t say she feels bad for those boys when she’s sneered at for her status as a bastard. She’s here for her kids only and keeping Daemon away from the drama🤣
Alys receives her share of hate(mainly from Hellmann’s stans, though I suspect most of them will come around when the show airs), but yeah, Nettles is the most (if not second most) disrespected character in this fandom.
Sadly she greatly suffers from not looking like most of the readers/watchers so it’s even harder for them to relate even though she’s typically the type of character one would root for.
The underdog who comes from nothing, rises above her station using her smarts/skills, gets the main guy to fall in love with her, and survives to tell the tale, what more could someone want?
Jealousy definitely plays a role cause I haven’t seen any other character in this fandom receive so much hate yet everyone wants a piece of her arc for their faves, but we aren’t supposed to say that. For a character so irrelevant she sure is living rent-free in a lot of people's heads 💅🏽

Thoughts on daemon choking rhaenyra?
My thoughts on Luke literally, and Aemond and Daemon's characters are basically this:
Tumblr media
I'm not opposed to Daemon acting like a jerk because he's a Byronic hero. He's the most Byronic hero George has written in ASOIAF. It's the most Romantic (literary) archetype in existence.
Doth no one know what a rogue is anymore? -me, being a drama queen
He's mad, bad, and dangerous to know, like the trope's namesake. He's also a sentimental wounded bad boy idealist. I mean look at what the man has named each of his children. His daughters are after his father and his mother in law (the book directly says it). His sons are both after his brothers, including the one who died extremely young. He's even got a hidden wife at one point and mad women in the attic!
So in principle, I'm not opposed. What makes me be like... hm. Is the proliferation of major writing issues that make me take back a lot of my early optimism, lol. In other words, I have no faith that scene was in there to do anything thematic or character-building. Instead, it seems like it's just there for drama.
Removing all agency from the characters is really like. Ugh. The problem in Game of Thrones, writers, wasn't just that they were sexist or that people did bad things. The first couple seasons were so powerful precisely because of choices. Even the choices made with the absolute best of intentions--see Ned trying to spare Cersei's kids and Catelyn desperate to save her daughters--had major consequences that couldn't always be foreseen. Good people making choices out of love isn't always rewarded. That's gritty and realistic, but that doesn't inherently mean the choices are always wrong, and it doesn't mean that they're right either.
Alicent misunderstanding Viserys instead of like, actually poisoning him? Lame. Aemond losing control of Vhagar? Lame. It's hard to care about characters when they're just subject to the whims of the world around them. That's not really a Romantic message. Yeah, Alicent hearing what she wants to hear, sure, Aemond underestimating a dragon, sure, except that's just not the human heart against itself. It's not ASOIAF thematically. "Whoops" isn't a compelling plot twist.
Again, a lot of these things could work theoretically without being "whoops." Much like the choking, I'm not, in principle, opposed. The problem is context. I just don't like how the show's simplifying the characters, so I don't have faith that they intended a message about overestimating how in control you are of the consequences of your actions. Given all their other creative decisions, it seems more a ploy to not alienate the audience, but the irony is it's having the opposite effect.
I'm someone who really likes Aemond's character in the book, and Alicent's. They're complex and fascinating just like Daemon and Rhaenyra are. They don't need to be whitewashed.
I'm very concerned that by whitewashing these characters they might remove other aspects of the coming seasons. But since GRRM said there'd be four seasons, I have some hope. If they erase Sara Snow because of Jace and Baela, or Alys Rivers and her kid with Aemond, like they erased Laena and Rhaenyra's relationship, I will be throwing hands.

random OC ask: what is an alternate life path your OC might have gone down? how different would their life be if they'd made those decisions instead?
Thanks for the ask :D I'll be answering for my boy Luke, it's going to be a long one, I'm so sorry So, I haven't disclosed much about his story but to make things short, here a little, very simplified summary of events: He was crowned king fucking young bc his parents were killed. Obvi, he didn't rule until much later. After a lot of drama and betrayal, he got together with Paige and they had a daughter together. Now to the issue: The dark age Luke's kingdom was in was the product of a silly ass war. His kingdom is also very isolationistic and he didn't get to rule the way he wanted because he simply was too young and had to rely on what his advisor said. Once the advisor was dead and he managed to overcome his worst days, he got together with Paige who hadn't arrived at the castle by her own will (she was brought there bc she knows medicine). They questioned whether they should be together bc of how Paige got there and how Luke was desperate to have family (as in trusted people he could love). What was the canon solution to the issue? Together, Luke and Paige decided that it would be best for them not to raise their daughter in the castle, that maybe they should try some time apart to see if it was love or not, and that Luke should focus on his duty as king while Paige could make use of her skills and use her talents someplace other than the castle. Thus, Paige left with their daughter and raised her (and the brother she later gave birth to) in the "enemy"'s kingdom (--long story but she's friends with the princess/queen) while Luke tried getting his kingdom into a better place. Results (20 years or so later)? Luke indeed manages to push his kingdom into a golden age, becomes a great bender and a great fighter in general. Paige did become a very successful healer, terribly good with medicine and known for it. Their daughter, Anya, grew into a confident, skilled, young woman who is definitely not the typical xenophobic citizen of her father's kingdom. On top of that, she doesn't know just yet that her father is the king. There arises another issue that would require a whole other history lesson so let's skip to the actual reply to the question :'D Alternative path? When they came up with the solution, there were moments where Luke would beg to come along, to just give up his crown. Paige wouldn't let him bc well it would defeat part of the purpose and also wouldn't be fair to the kingdom. If, however, Luke would have given up the crown, he would have joined Paige and he would have travelled with her. He would have been able to be there for his kids and for Paige, but he would have felt equally lacking. In canon, he feels lacking bc the ones he loves aren't with him and loneliness is a big issue for him. If he had tagged along, though, he would always felt like a failure, he would have felt like he never reached his potential and never fulfilled his destiny. If he had followed, he would eventually have returned to fix his mistake.

(Prologue)
Summary: Alaerya Targaryen is the daughter of Viserys and Aemma the little sister to Rhaenyra Targaryen. When Alicent and Rhaenyra broke a part since Alicent married Viserys only Alaerya stayed by Rhaenyra side. When Luke cut out Aemond eyed Viserys decided to announce that Alaerya and his son Laegarys get married. Rhaenyra feeling completely horrified try to get Alaerya out of that marriage. Even through Alaerya and Laegarys learn to love each other they do have their differences. Even through their family hate each other but Alicent can't come to hate Alaerya like her sister. With all that is happening will Alaerya and Laegarys relationship stay alive or burn to the ground? War, love, drama and Sadness is all Alaerya will face in her life.
Story warnings: This story contains death, language, incest, smut, gore, manipulation, and miscarriage.
Laegarys Targaryen was happy when he heard of his marriage proposal of Alaerya. He knows people think of him as a bastard for not having the Targaryen looks just the hightower looks. Even through he's the youngest doesn't stop him from getting what he wants.
"Ooh so Laegarys is not Viserys real son?" Young Jelaesa asked her brother Eraesys. "It was rumor Jelaesa" Eraesys said to his sister who was interested in the love story of Prince Laegarys Targaryen and Princess Alaerya Targaryen. "What more was about Alaerya?" Jelaesa asked wanting to learn more about her. Her brother sign knowing that this will be a long day of the supposed love story that probably wasn't real. As he turn the page to know more about Princess Alaerya.
Princess Alaerya Targaryen was a beautiful young women who didn't deserve to die like that. She was wrongly accused of something she didn't do that made the King kill her. The only thing is left of Alaerya is their children Daenehra, Daelarr, Maelenyra, Malaemarr, Raelyx, and Galaemyx.
Even Though they knew the truth after she died it still didn't help at all. The dance of the dragons still happened and for Laegarys he lost the love of his life. For the kids they lost their mother and had to survive without a mother just a father.
"That is sad" Jelaesa said as her brother read the page out. "I know Jelaesa that was sad for everyone when they knew the truth. They live for the pain for some years I heard but I know that is not true" Eraesys said rubbing his little sister head.
The dance of the dragons started a little when Alaerya was killed. But it fully started when Rhaenyra youngest son died. Even through it was supposed to be an accident but Queen Rhaenyra took it very personally.
It all ended when Rhaenyra son married Aegon daughter. As Alaerya children and father lived all only and Laegarys didn't and refused to remarried as he was then eating by his own dragon.
His and Alaerya children grown up with Aegon daughter and Rhaenyra son. But they will never forget what happened to their parents until their last dying breath.
Eraesys finished the page as Jelaesa was even more interested in the story. "Is there more!" Jelaesa asked as her brother nodded with a small smile. "Then read itt!" Jelaesa said bouncing up and down.
Before the dance of the dragons happened Alicent, Rhaenyra, and Alaerya used to be friends. Before King Viserys choose Alicent Hightower as his new wife even through she was young broke Rhaenyra and Alaerya heart.
Alaerya tried so hard to accept that but she couldn't at all. So when Luke took out Aemond eye Viserys made a marriage proposal between Laegarys and Alaerya that made Rhaenyra mad then she was.
But Rhaenyra was known as the black queen and the girl who birth bastard sons at first. Everyone knew what was between Daemon and Rhaenyra even Alaerya. But everyone decided to keep a blind eye because they know that Rhaenyra was the king favorite and Alaerya was the favorite.
That's all what people knew so far before the war happened that ended many people lives. And what was left of the mighty house of Targaryen.
Eraesys finished as he started putting his sister to sleep. He knew all about the dance of the dragons and told some lies about Alaerya and Laegarys. Eraesys knew that it was bad to tell his sister lies but she won't find out no time soon. She will never know what actually happened and he was happy.

it’s so odd of people to keep arguing that aemond did something wrong by claiming vhagar. at first it was “he stole a dragon”, then they learned that you can’t steal a dragon and it became “rhaena should’ve gotten the first try” when NO… just because her mother was one of vhagar’s riders doesn’t mean she was entitled to her, and had to try to claim her first.
i don’t think aemond had a suicide wish, meaning that he was ready to die if it doesn’t work out, but i also don’t think he would’ve been fine with just any dragon when he was already abandoned by his own targaryen dad and was bullied on top of it. he had to try vhagar and it worked and that’s it. i’m sending you this bcs i find myself liking your takes the most and was wondering what you thought of this whole situation… would you say aemond was morally wrong or whatever
First of all thank you so much for the compliment and flattering words and second of all I am literally so sorry for taking like 2 months to answer this oh my god I’m genuinely so sorry for ghosting you. I don’t know what the fuck happened and why I just let this sit in my inbox for months and I’m genuinely truly really sorry for making you wait so long … Really, I’m sorry.
Showrunners changed the scene from Jace, Luke and Joffrey attacking Aemond to Jace, Luke, Baela and Rhaena doing it. Why? Well mostly because they aged Joffrey down, and probably to give Baela and Rhaena something to do outside of being Rhaenyra’s cheerleaders who do nothing all season long but be her props. Like sidenote, but I still cannot believe that after everything, the Velaryons would side with her faction… I mean outside of that absentee deadbeat good-for-nothing who has literally never interacted with them on-screen being their father, Baela and Rhaena have always been more Rhaenys’ and Laena’s children than Daemon’s. Like the fucking DRAMA it would bring to the story if both Baela and Rhaena were actually against Rhaenyra, if Baela was against being betrothed to Jace and her rightful inheritance of Driftmark being usurped being a point of contention for the Velaryon family/Team Black overall. Or if it was Baela that was ok with becoming the future Queen of Westeros as Jace’s wife but it was Rhaena that was against everything, against becoming Lady Consort of Driftmark instead of Lady of Driftmark in her own right because, you know, she’s being forced into marrying Luke, essentially being usurped of her and her sister's inheritance. Or if Rhaena held Daemon in contempt for always ignoring her because she has no dragon and therefore no worth in his eyes or for forcing her into a marriage with a boy everyone knows is a bastard whose mother is usurping her and her sister’s (and their mother’s) rightful inheritance because of said marriage……. But nooooooooo we gotta have Baela and Rhaena do nothing but smile in the background bc Team Black has zero in-fighting at all everyone is just of the same fucking mind and gets along aaaaaall the time I guess……………..
Okay anyways sorry for the sidequest lets get back to the topic at hand… They put Baela and Rhaena in that scene to make it look like Aemond claiming “their mother’s dragon” was an issue or something. The writers put 3 things in that confrontation as to make it look like Aemond was in the wrong for claiming Vhagar:
The outrageous claim of being able to “steal” a dragon (that’s literally impossible; you cannot steal a rider-less dragon).
The other outrageous claim that dragons are somehow passed on from parent to child as if a dragon is an heirloom or something.
Putting Baela and Rhaena in this one specific scene which they actually had NO business being in because they are Vhagar’s ex-rider’s daughters.
If I remember correctly, Daemon, Baela and Rhaena were on Driftmark/Dragonstone for a whole month in preparation for Laena’s funeral. Aemond came to Driftmark for only 2 or so days… Rhaena had all the time in the world to claim any free dragon she wanted with the help of her father... And then she didn’t….. How is that Aemond’s fault exactly? She had the chance and she didn’t take it. That’s on her, not on anyone else (except maybe her father since he apparently disliked that she hadn’t claimed one yet but I digress).
Then the audacity of the writers to insinuate that dragons can be inherited by the ex-rider’s children??? The fuck????? Before Laena, Vhagar was Baelon Targaryen’s dragon. Baelon is Laena’s mother’s uncle … but he is also Aemond’s grandfather... So tell me again who had the “right” to claim her first by that logic? Then before Baelon, Vhagar was Visenya’s AKA Baelon’s great-grandfather’s sister. Caraxes for example was Aemon’s dragon before Daemon claimed him, who is his uncle. Meleys was Alyssa’s dragon, who is Rhaenys’ aunt not mother, etc. etc. The one and only instance we have in ASOIAF where a dragon is claimed by the ex-rider’s child is Balerion with Aegon & Maegor. And even then it wasn’t that Maegor got Balerion because he was Aegon’s son, it was Maegor claiming Balerion because he just wanted him and Maegor specifically waited for Aegon to die so that Balerion was free to be claimed. So these dumb lines of “She was mine to claim,” and “Stole my mother’s dragon,” need to go to Hell and I will never take anyone who takes that shit seriously… seriously. You cannot steal a rider-less dragon by claiming it, that is just outright not canon.
Dragons are also not family-heirlooms meant to be passed down onto children, that is also just not canon. End of discussion, really. The only reason they put the girls plus those dumb lines in the scene is because they needed Aemond to look as if he did something wrong, because Aemond did literally nothing wrong by claiming Vhagar. In the book Jace, Luke and Joffrey jumped him for no reason, and in the show Jace, Luke, Baela and Rhaena also jump him for no reason. 3v1 and 4v1 and we’re supposed to think Aemond was an instigator or something? Rhaena took a swing first then Aemond pushed her aside to protect himself. Then Baela punched him in the face FIRST then Aemond punched her back. Aemond instigated and started NOTHING and he was the only victim in that scene. The gall of the writers to make it look like Baela and Rhaena had the right to be mad or that Jace and Luke were justified in ambushing him and permanently maiming and disabling him because one Targaryen prince claimed a free-to-claim dragon is INSAAAANEEEEE and I hate that they took away Viserys mocking Aemond for not having a dragon yet which is what lead him to claiming Vhagar to begin with.
None of those children had any right to be mad at Aemond for anything and the writers knew that so they just had to put the children who had just lost their mother into that scene in order to make it seem as if what had happened had some ambiguity to it instead of what it actually was: Aemond as the victim and Jace, Luke, Baela and Rhaena as the crystal-clear transgressors.

*sigh* Looks like it’s just A DAY for being prompted to litigate old drama... Since I’ve done this one a dozen times over, I’ll put it behind a cut.
The Last Jedi is a HOPELESS movie. Our heroes do the (ostensibly) wrong thing, they get betrayed, their resources are destroyed, no one comes to their aid, and by the end, they’re packed into the space-fantasy equivalent of a beat up weed van and that’s THE WHOLE of their resources, against an enemy who APPARENTLY rules the galaxy.
Like let me hammer this point: NO ONE COMES TO THEIR AID. Like for all the other issues I have with Rise of Skywalker, that scene, where ships show up was great, because it refuted this idea.
And that idea was one of THE most hopeless elements of TLJ. That, in a moment of crisis, no one else stands up. This is a FRANCHISE where that’s been one of the biggest things - the Empire spanned the galaxy, but we centered on the Rebels who stood up and fought back. Luke looked at DARTH VADER, a symbol of all the Empire’s evil and dark deeds, and said “I feel the good in you, Father.” The ragtag Rebels and the primitive Ewoks took on the might of the Empire and defeated it. The child queen took on and defeated the massive corporate conquerors and made peace with a native culture who saw hers as invaders with an act of deep humility. Even as Attack of the Clones and Revenge of the Sith gave us what we knew to be the rise of the Empire, a growing darkness of civilizations, in the former, we had a moment of peace as Anakin and Padme marry, and then the latter ends on that scene of a new hope being protected - an ending that feels hopeful because this is a prequel and we know what comes next, we know that this hope saves the galaxy.
That was the hope of the prior movies. How can you look at the finale of TLJ and see it as hopeful? The Resistance sacrificed all their resources just in the name of getting to that planet of salt, with the plan being “let’s let all our ships get blown up, and hope that our mad dash to the nearest world is covered by the destruction of our last ship!” and the ONLY way they made it out alive was because of Rey’s abrupt return with the Falcon. That wasn’t planned.
Holdo is an absolute failure of a leader - she’s a “last chain in the link” commander who knows this, walking around in a cocktail dress like she’s going to be chatting up senators during an existential crisis, making no effort to show the people who know she’s last in the chain - because all the other leaders of the Resistance were killed, except for Leia, who is in a coma - and, in the midst of that crisis, not just does she make no effort to calm down Poe or ease his concerns - or, if you want to argue that “the admiral isn’t required to explain herself to a pilot who just got demoted,” first, let me point out that the demotion thing? If you want to take it by military standards, it wouldn’t count, since Leia “demoting” him comes after she slaps him, which would be grounds for HER getting court-martialed, and, second, as I’ve gone over well before, Poe made a SOUND TACTICAL DECISION at the start of the film.
At least, when judging him in context with the rest of the established Star Wars universe. The problem is that TLJ tosses all of that aside.
Snubfighters like the X-Wings have always been shown to have independent hyperdrives. Leia had no need to keep the Resistance fleet close - the X-Wings could be a distraction to allow them to jump out of system, and then make the jump themselves, rather than have to be collected by any command ship or something.
Likewise, if those bombers couldn’t survive hitting a slow moving and massive target like that dreadnought, then those fighters should have gotten scrapped for parts ages ago, even on the basis of the Resistance taking the resources that it could get. Like the way they talk about those bombers, you’d think they were a pre-Clone War relic, considering all we’ve seen about Y-Wings in the course of the Original Trilogy AND TCW as a series.
And the dreadnought itself? That should have been a MASSIVE blow to the First Order, considering that this is pretty clearly just DAYS after TFA at most and, as TLJ wants to forget, this means that the Resistance just took out a First Order weapon the literal size of a planet, since Starkiller was built into a planet. That means the First Order lost ALL the men and material resources that offered, as well as the symbol of fear they inspired. And then, Poe adds the destruction of a dreadnought with more than 200000 troops on board to their losses.
The comparison I’ve used before is that this is a neo-natsee organization, getting their hands on a nuclear weapons facility, using the first nuke immediately off the production line on DC, and then having their plant blown up, then also having the surplus tank that they were using destroyed as well. This should be a MASSIVE blow to their war machine, the First Order should be shaken and in shambles with these kinds of losses - it’s even the kind of losses that would JUSTIFY Snoke appearing, because his flagship is a resource they can’t keep in hiding.
But legit, TLJ wants to forget this part of TFA - no one even MENTIONS Starkiller, not even as a “the galaxy doesn’t know about its destruction, they’re afraid of it being used on them, they won’t come” argument. Or the fact that Poe himself was the pilot who flew that mission - that makes him someone you’d think WOULD be need to know on a mission involving a desperate flight and escape, or even a justifiable reason for taking him off the active duty list, by way of the torture and trauma he went through in the prior movie. Nope, it’s just Holdo taking him off duty to teach him a lesson about the chain of command and how he should have trusted her blindly, even as she refuses to make any effort to set him at ease about the situation, and very clearly on the basis of not liking HIM, personally.
And, in fact, the movie treats the First Order, built as the remnants of the Empire after Endor, shoved out to the margins of the galaxy, assembling in secret, as the Empire during the Original Trilogy, as a galaxy spanning organization with an iron fist over everything. EXCEPT that’s not the case in TFA, again! Because the New Republic inherited the major resources of the Empire, and, even in funneling resources from the New Republic to the First Order, they would have had to do it in amounts that the New Republic would not become suspicious too soon. The sides of this conflict flipped in TFA, but TLJ snaps everything, and particularly resources, back to the way it was during the Original Trilogy.
*sigh* I could go further, expanding on the problems of how the film treated and demoted Finn in its plot, how Rey got made into a sexy lamp for the sake of Kylo’s development, how pointless Canto Bight is as a C-plot, how much Yoda didn’t deserve that moment with Luke to preach about a lesson he never learned himself... But I’ve ranted enough at this point, I’m tried of doing it, and just... Honestly, at this point, I wish people just stopped TALKING about this movie.
Because that’s what I keep getting hung up on. Not the movie itself - I don’t mind, really I don’t, if people respond differently to a film. The problem I have, the reason I keep ranting about this, is that people keep bringing up this movie as perfect and flawless and just in general... as GOOD, when... *motions to the page and a half of ranting, plus the respective tag* No. No it is not.
I’ve said it before, some of this bothered me sitting in the theater, it’s not fridge logic, it’s active plot holes. But people who I respect, people who make film analysis a career, see it as good and perfect, when... I saw these issues IN THE GODDAMN THEATER. My very initial reaction to the movie, in the immediate aftermath of watching it, called it “high C/low B.” But no, the response EVERYWHERE became a matter of extreme polarization - you loved it, you hailed it as a breath of fresh air into the franchise... or you hated it because you’re a sexist pig who can’t stand women at the forefront of the story.
But the thing on THAT count is that... Again, I see Holdo in the wrong, not because she’s a woman, but because she makes BAD. DECISIONS. and the narrative frames her as right all along, meanwhile Rey is reduced to a sexy lamp reward Kylo will get if he comes back to the light, a door he slammed shut in the prior movie when he killed Han Solo, his father. This movie just comes across as an edgelord dudebro wrote what he assumed would resonate with the audience he derides as being “hyper-woke.”
Or, to put it another way, a way that might be more charitable, this may have been an effort at deconstruction of the Star Wars mythos in general, but, since the writer knew he wasn’t going to be back for the conclusion, it ends up being demolition, with no regard for the effort at RECONSTRUCTION, of putting the pieces back together, because he wasn’t hired for that job.

Lucas was set up fated to be a knight, not even getting a chance to be considered as a throne candidate.
And so it gave him the feelings wrath, hatred, sorrowness towards his father.. and his little brother.
One day, he found a book containing magic spells, potions, etc. And he got intrested.. alot that it might aswell be called obsession lol.
And so after reading and trying all the spells in that book, he went to the library everday after training
..soon after a few months of reading and learning new spells and mana awakening(i also dont know anything about fantasy sorry)

Percy Plays The Maury Game
A few days after the toilet incident things began calming down, except for Clarisse's murderous rage. The blue marks Clarisse had given me were only just beginning to fade but at least Percy was beginning to settle into camp.
The senior campers and counselors were all watching him like a hawk though, which couldn't have been helping. There were already rumors of him being a Big Three kid, but it had gotten out that his mother was human and so everyone was now trying to determine who his father was. The counselors especially. A few counselors were even making bets despite the fact no one really had a clue. He wasn't gifted with the raw physical power of the Ares kids. He was honestly kind of awful at archery, so definitely not an Apollo kid. He didn't have any special touch with metalwork or technology and the grape vines wanted nothing to do with him, so Hephaestus and Dionysus were off the table. Wings had told him he might be a Hermes kid but I think he was just trying to comfort him.
It was three days after his arrival that Percy got his first taste of sword fighting. Cabin 11 gathered in the arena. The arena was an amphitheater that we used for duels and training with straw dummies dressed in Greek armor, along with other miscellaneous training devices strewn around.
Wings certainly the lesson so I decided to help out like usual, handing everyone their preferred swords from the armory and making sure everyone was ready. We began our warm-up with simple slashes and stabs at the training dummies. Percy was having a hard time though, all his swords were unbalanced and we couldn't find a sword that fit him. It certainly wasn't doing any good for his strikes.
We moved on to dueling and Wings took Percy as his sparring partner, prompting some of us to tease him a little bit.
"Good luck," an undetermined camper named Ethan said with a smirk," Luke's the best swordsman in the last three hundred years."
"Maybe he'll go easy on me," Percy responded back.
The other kids snorted and I leaned over with a sympathetic smile to mask my smirk.
"Don't count on it," I teased as well, but it wasn't just in mean spirit. Telling him that Wings wouldn't go easy on him was a genuine warning.
I know from experience that Wings doesn't believe in going easy on newbies, he says that the best way to learn was through pain and mistakes; by that logic, Wings is a very good teacher. My cabinmate calling Luke the best swordsman in three hundred years wasn't an exaggeration, either. Even Chiron, who's been training heroes for thousands of years, is consistently impressed by his skill with a sword.
I partnered with a tall, older Hermes guy named Connor as my sparing partner. He usually partners with his brother, but every now and then they'd look for some diversity in their training. I didn't mind the height difference since we were just doing casual sparing. Plus it's good to practice against taller opponents every once in a while, especially when you're shorter than most other campers.
I sparred with Conner for a while until Wings called break time. He threw his water over his head, like the total drama queen he is, and I noticed that Percy had copied him. What a couple of dorks.
Wings said he was going to use Percy as a demonstration, but I knew it was really just another hazing ritual. This sparring partnership is similar to Clarisse's toilet routine, the only difference is that Wings is just a bit more subtle about his tormenting of the newbies. We gathered around, most of us not even trying to hide our smiles knowing Luke was just going to show off his swordsmanship by embarrassing the poor new kid.
I must admit, there is some purpose to this initiation of his, though. It was to make sure that newbies didn't get big heads about their sword fighting skills and go around challenging people to duels and getting themselves hurt. He may or may not have begun this initiation after I got my ass handed to me by Clarisse on my second day.
"This is difficult," Wings stressed to the group after showing us a move that flung Percy's sword out of his hand. "I've had it used against me. No laughing at Percy, now. Most swordsmen have to work years to master this technique."
Wings demonstrated the move a few more times, noting that you had to get the tip of your blade at the base of your opponent's sword, near the hilt, and twist your opponent's arm, forcing them to drop their sword. After he decided we understood the motions, he declared that he and Percy would be sparing until one of them used the move and disarmed their opponent. I expected Luke to do the move within the first thirty of the match but Percy was doing a good job at keeping Luke's blade away from the hilt of his sword.
Percy was keeping up quite well for a newbie, reminding me how natural battle reflexes came to demigods, but Percy's natural talent was still impressive. As the fight continued Percy seemed to get the hang of things. He even countered one of Luke's strikes and tried to thrust at him, not knowing how bad of an idea it was. An offensive move was like the green light Luke was waiting for to apply more force and intensity to the demonstration.
Percy started looking tired and just when I thought Luke was going to take him down, his blade hit the base of Luke's sword, sending it clattering to the ground with a loud clang. The tip of Percy's sword was now an inch away from Luke's chest. Both looked equally surprised, but not as nearly as stunned as us in the crowd.
Nobody moved; nobody breathed. Everyone just stared at Percy and Wings in shock for a long moment.
"Um, sorry," Percy interrupted our gawking, lowering his blade.
After a moment to recover from his shock, Wings grinned.
"Sorry? By the gods, Percy, why are you sorry? Show me again!" He enthused, retrieving his blade and hurrying back to stand in front of Percy again.
Wings hadn't had a real challenge in sparing another camper since before I'd come to camp, and his intrigue and excitement at Percy's apparent prodigy-Esque talent was obvious.
They were going to try the maneuver again but this time the moment their swords touched, Wings sent Percy's sword flying and there was a long pause as it skidded across the arena.
"... Beginner's luck?" A Hermes kid said from next to me.
"Maybe," Wings replied while wiping the sweat off his brow. "But I wonder what Percy could do with a balanced sword..."
<><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><>
The next day was Friday, and all anyone could think about was Capture the Flag. For a children's game, the evening before looked a whole lot more like preparation to go to war; the only difference was that the atmosphere was light and full of excitement. People were sorting out what gear they were planning to use or sharpening their weapons during their free time, chattering about attack coordination and strategy mixed in with the usual gossip. Clarisse had spent every moment we were together trying not to brag about how bad the red team would crush us.
She may be my best friend but we both knew my loyalties still lay with Wings and the Hermes Cabin, who were on the blue team, opposing the Ares Cabin. Despite her best efforts, I did pick up on the fact she was definitely planning her revenge on Percy no matter how hard she tried to phrase it differently.
I went straight to Annabeth with that information. I told her pretty much Clarisse had said about the game word for word. I knew she'd probably figured out that's what Clarisse would do, but I wasn't going to risk not communicating something as vital as Clarisse's position during the game. She indeed already had a suspicion it was confirmed when I told her pretty much everything Clarisse had said about the game word for word. Some of what I told her didn't seem like it meant anything but Annabeth was brilliant; she'd be sure to notice things in Clarisse's words that didn't.
Finally, we had dinner and sacrificed the best parts of our meals to the gods. Now it was time for our friendly, age-appropriate fight to the death. The cheering of campers practically shook the dining pavilion as the councilors of the Ares and Athena Cabins brought out the flags. The flags were giant silk banners, about ten feet high and six feet wide. The Athena Cabin's flag was a glistening sliver with a clean painting of a barn owl sitting above an olive tree. The Ares flag was bright crimson with a bloody spear and a boar's head painted on with violent, sporadic strokes.
Percy was asking Wings a ton of questions but I ignored him in favor of cheering and getting hyped with the rest of the cabin. I'd babysat Percy for a considerable chunk of the day when Luke had other counselor duties to handle, so I didn't have any desire to answer more of his questions.
They announced the teams: Apollo and Hermes would be on the Athena team while Dionysus, Demeter, Aphrodite, and Hephaestus on the Ares team. That might sound a bit unfair but the Hermes and Apollo Cabins both had maybe triple the number of kids in some cabins like Dionysus or Demeter, so the teams were fairly even in number.
Chiron Hammered his hoof on the marble to quiet the roaring demigods and began his usual announcement before the game.
"Heroes! You know the rules. The creek is the boundary line. The entire forest is fair game. All magic items are allowed. The banner must be prominently displayed, and have no more than two guards. Prisoners may be disarmed, but may not be bound or gaged. No killing or maiming is allowed. I will serve as referee and battlefield medic. Arm yourselves!" Chiron finished his speech and raised his hands, summoning gear to appear over the white cloth of our tables.
The gear was sorted on different tables. Some of the placement of gear was based on the table's cabin, like the Ares cabin having all the community weapons for half-bloods who didn't have their own, while some gear was randomly sorted onto a table.
I already knew what gear I'd need but I walked over to Wings to confirm my role in the game, hearing that Percy would be on border patrol.
"Sorry to hear that, Percy, my dearest condolences," I teased him, knowing he didn't know what plan Luke and the Athena kids had cooked up yet. "I assume I'm on my usual duty?" I turned to Wings with a brow raised.
He nodded and replied, "Yes, but you're also gonna be moving with me and a few others. Annabeth will fill you in on the rest of the plan we discussed." Wings' reply was vague and I knew it was because he didn't want Percy to have too much of an idea of what we were going to do.
I turned headed grabbed some leather forearm and shin guards from the Demeter table and a small shield from the Dyonisus table. The shield only barely had a radius bigger than a dinner plate, but I wasn't really planning to use it.
I would have grabbed a chest plate and helmet too, but they were too heavy and would definitely get snagged while I was trying to move. I didn't need to grab a sword either since I had Copper hanging from my neck. I did have to grab a blue bandana to tie around my head so that people would know which team I'm on the blue team since I wasn't wearing a helmet, which has colored plumes on top to identify us.
The reason I wanted to gear up in a way that would allow me to have mobility and not get caught on anything is because my "usual duty" is recon. It's pretty much my job every game because of one skill that gave me a huge advantage that only the Apollo Cabin and a few others can combat: I'm incredible at climbing trees.
Yeah, it doesn't sound all that cool or important but since most campers use melee weapons, being up high was a huge advantage even if I'm found. People also have a hard time seeing if I'm even there since the trees cast shadows in the evening, meaning sometimes I can be right above people without them knowing. If I'm lucky, I'll even catch strategy or important positions of the opposite team members, which I can relay to Annabeth faster than any other messenger; since I could cut right through the woods without having to worry about running into enemy campers getting in my way.
Plus, somehow that energy I feel up there allows me to cross the entire forest before most kids on foot could even reach the creek that flows through the middle. Sufficed to say, I'm the best reconnaissance option- with maybe the only exception being Annabeth herself since she's got that invisibility cap. Either way, it's no surprise I had the same job almost every game.
"Blue team, forward!" Annabeth interrupted my internal boasting, prompting the blue team to shake our swords in the air and cheer as she lead us toward the south side of the forest. Threats and trash talk were thrown between the opposing teams and I wasn't going to join in, but then I saw Clarisse.
"Hey Classy, see ya soon! And don't forget to look up!" I knew she hated that nickname, so of course, I made sure to always use it when I teased her. My taunt was more than just a cocky declaration that I'd find her, I was also referencing the time she'd chased an Apollo kid named Lake through the forest after they retrieved the flag. Lake and I were on the same team during that game and Clarisse was on the opposing team. Lake had made it to the border but Clarisse was catching up and nearly grabbed them and I'd stopped her by dropping down from where I was in the trees and fell right on top of her so Lake could make it over the boundary and win the game. Clarisse got a few scrapes and bruises and I'd broken my wrist in the fall but it was worth it in the end. Clarisse still hated it when I brought it up.
After we reached our side of the woods I went over to Annabeth to discuss the details of the plan Wings hadn't told me and to establish where I'd be meeting her this game. Whenever we were on the same team we'd establish a sort of intelligence headquarters where I'd meet her if I blew my whistle to tell her I had urgent information to give her. It was always a place near the boundary line that felt secure enough for me to tell her important intel so she and her cabinmates could form strategies accordingly. We even made this map of the woods with its own specified coordinates that I used to tell her the exact locations if they were needed.
We established the Intel HQ a little ways away from where Percy was positioned and I left my shield there for if I needed to come back and get it later in the game. Annabeth said she wanted to be nearby Percy's post to make sure everything went according to plan. Said plan was basically just to use Percy as bait to have Clarisse and her cabin mates distracted in their revenge so Wings could sneak around the other team's flank and capture the flag.
I decided to go over to Percy before the game started and give him a few tips for "Border Patrol." I was actually trying to give him advice on how not to get killed when Clarisse came after him, but I couldn't tell him that so I settled on just giving him defense tips and what parts of the body would give him the highest chance of survival if stabbed.
I heard a horn blow in the distance, signaling that the game had begun so I decided it was time for me to get off the ground. I took a running start and practically flew up into a tree above where Percy stood and started traversing into enemy territory. My first priority was making sure Clarisse went after Percy as Annabeth had planned.
Before I got too far from where Percy was, I thought I heard a familiar growl. I stopped dead, hanging awkwardly from a branch as I'd been busy reaching for another one. My blood ran cold as I was reminded of the painful experiences I'd had with the creatures that made that sound. I hung there listening for a few minutes, but I didn't hear anything else so I began moving again, hoping it had been my imagination.
I loved being up in the trees. Something about the ground being so far below was empowering to see people on the ground, looking smaller in the distance. When I was up high, it felt like all my senses worked perfectly and I could calculate every route between the branches and every move the people below me were going to make. I sometimes wished I was better at archery so I could just sit up in the trees without ever needing to come down to fight.
After a few minutes of searching, I heard heavy footsteps somewhere a few yards ahead so I stopped moving forward and climbed higher into the trees to be harder to see or hear from the ground. Sure enough, it was Clarisse and four of her cabinmates were heading straight for Percy's location. They walked right past the spot below me and I grinned to myself; Clarisse hadn't heeded my warning and really did forget to look up.
Perfect, this meant things were going well for the plan and there was no need to blow my whistle. I rounded back to where Annabeth had told me to meet with Wings and kept track of the positions of red team campers as I went. Once I got there I threw a stick at Wings to get his attention and then we selected one of the faster Hermes kids to get the positions I'd seen on my way back to the Athena kids while I began scouting ahead for the group.
I weaved through the branches a few yards ahead of the group. Every now and then I'd see campers with red helmet plumes and I'd go back to Luke's and say something along the lines of, "Three reds on your eleven, 25 feet ahead."
Then, Wings would say something like, "Thanks, we'll fall back ten yards. Scout out a route around them on our two."
Then, if that new direction was clear we'd adjust and move around the other team undetected. We did this procedure all the way to the North side of the forest, where I saw the Ares Cabin's flag on top of Zeus's Fist (a formation of boulders that served as a landmark in the forest) and scouted out the area around it. I went back to the group and reported the position of the two guards assigned to the flag and the scattered campers that were hanging around nearby. We decided that we'd split the group up to distract the other campers surrounding the area so we'd have a clear exit once we grabbed the flag.
We decided that I would be the one to signal the attack to take out the guards from their flank and after they were down Wings would take the flag back across the border with me leading the way above and some others covering his retreat. I got as close to the guards as I could in the trees and quietly unclipped Copper from its chain. I felt a tug in my gut as it soundlessly grew into its sword form, a beautiful bronze xiphos with an azure blue hilt. I took and deep breath and held it for a moment before breathing out.
I dropped right on top of the first guard, forcing his face into the dust below us. Before the other one could even turn around to see the commotion, I dashed over and hit her in the back of the head with the hilt of my sword, knocking her helmet straight off and exposing her red hair.
"Wings! Now!" I yelled into the forest. The guard I'd landed on was already on his feet again and swung at me. I stopped his strike with Copper and kicked him away from the flag as Wings bounded into the clearing with a blonde Apollo kid. He grabbed the flag and made a mad dash back to the border. I ran after them, feeling much slower now that I was on the ground again, but once I made it to the tree line I jumped straight up into the branches and managed to start traversing ahead of Wings and his group.
The others that had split up to distract the other reds had caught up with us how and were helping to cover our flanks as more of the red team realized their flag had been stolen and chased after us like a pack of hungry dogs. Whenever a red managed to get in front of us I had to jump down and use the momentum to throw them out of the way of Wings, almost getting stabbed a few times in the process. A lot of people on both teams were screaming as we reached the border, some of them elated and some full of outrage and stress.
I heard a familiar voice shouting ahead, "A trick! It was a trick." I could see the creek ahead and knew I wasn't needed anymore, so I decided to break from the group to pour some salt in Clarisse’s wounds.
Wings ran through the creek and the blue team roared with cheer and applause as the Ares Cabin banner slowly turned to silver and the spear and boar were replaced with Cabin 11's caduceus. Some blue team kids had emerged from the woods and thrown Wings onto their shoulders in celebration. Chiron came out of the woods and blew the conch horn to tell everyone who was still spread around the forest that the game had ended.
I found Clarisse sulking on the ground across the creek from where Annabeth was explaining to Percy that he'd been the bait. I shrunk Copper back into its whistle form and clipped it to my chain.
"Hey, Classy. How's it hanging?" Of course, that was a pun since I was now hanging upside down from a tree branch next to her; my camp necklace and Copper hanging in my face and my arms dangling below me. She glanced- more like glared- at me before looking back at the ground, but not before I saw the bruise developing in the middle of her forehead. Her reaction worried me since I was expecting more yelling in outrage and stomping around so I gave up on my original plan to tease her. I sighed and slid off the tree branch.
"You feeling alright? I expected you to be... I dunno, angrier? It's not like you to get all mopey like this just from losing..." Clarisse looked at me with a slight glare again, but this time it melted after a second and she opened her mouth and I heard that very familiar growl again. My blood froze and I looked up to the top of a formation of rocks.
Whatever Clarisse had been about to say was interrupted and a howl echoed throughout the forest. The second noise had flipped a switch somewhere in my head. Suddenly I was a 10-year-old girl sitting against the wall of an empty house again. Hands over my mouth and unscarred nose while a few tears streamed down my face, staring at the shadow of an impossibly large dog that was cast through the window in front of me. The memory faded as quickly as it'd appeared and where the shadow had been was now a different Hellhound standing on the rocks above us, and the fear that I had when in the memory was warped into hatred.
My breathing picked up and adrenaline started to fill my veins. The hound jumped right over Annabeth, who had drawn her blade and landed on Percy, jaws open and going in for the kill. Suddenly the world had stopped moving and it was like I could see everything frozen in the middle of the action. Leaves were hanging in the air instead of floating to the ground, the water flowing around some campers' feet had stopped dead in its tracks, I saw Chiron about to draw several arrows in his bow, and I saw Clarisse next to me staring up at the Hellhound with wide eyes. Annabeth was beginning to turn around to face Percy and the hound, Wings was staring at the dog attacking Percy with a blank look on his face, and the hellhound across the creek just was barely beginning to sink its claws into Percy's armor. In the next moment, Copper was in sword form and in the hellhound's throat.
The hound fell to the ground and I stood over it breathing heavily. I didn't even realize where I was or what I'd just done. I'd never moved that fast in my life and my brain was still trying to catch up. The electric feeling in my nerves and skin was stronger than it'd ever been before and honestly, I was surprised I was still standing since I couldn't feel my legs. Percy looked like he wanted to say something to me but closed his mouth when he met my gaze. I realized I had been glaring at the hound's corpse and when he'd tried to speak to me I'd glared at him too.
I closed my eyes and took a breath, "Sorry. I uh. Hate these things?" I explained though it sounded more like a question. "Wait no- ugh, I should have said that I've got a bone to pick with them." I made the pun with a forced smile to try and defuse the tension while I backed up from him since I'd basically been standing over him with a sword in my hand and murder in my eyes.
"Di immortales!" Annabeth said while I gave Percy a hand to help him up. "That's a hellhound from the Fields of Punishment. They don't... they're not supposed to..."
"Someone summoned it," Chiron concluded what Annabeth was likely trying to say. "Someone inside the camp."
"It's Percy's fault! I bet the dumbass summoned it on accident!" Clarisse suddenly shouted from the other side of the creek.
"Be quiet, child," Chiron shushed her.
I slung Percy’s arm over my shoulder to help support him while I stared at the hellhound’s body disappearing into the shadows.
Annabeth suddenly spoke up with urgency. "Quick, Percy, get in the water."
"What?" Percy and I said in unison.
The reason this was weird to me is that I figured Annabeth would be more concerned about the fact that Percy was bleeding from the hound's claws that had pierced his breastplate. After a small protest, Percy agreed and I helped him to the water. He stopped leaning on me and stepped in on his own.
His wounds began healing in the water but no one cared about that because there was a hologram floating above his head, he was being claimed. Just being claimed wouldn't even have been so shocking if it wasn't for the specific symbol floating above his head causing all our gawking. Hanging in the air above the apologizing Percy was a green trident, claiming him as very, very bad news.
"Your father..." Annabeth said in a low voice, "This is really not good."
"It is determined," Chiron announced to the campers, bending his two front legs in a kneel.
I followed and dropped down into a kneel as well, nudging Clarisse who did the same begrudgingly. Slowly others around us started kneeling too until everyone was kneeling to Percy.
"My father?" Percy's voice gave away his bewilderment.
"Poseidon," Chiron declared. "Earthshaker, Stormbringer, Father of Horses. Hail, Perseus Jackson, Son of the Sea God."
