Restoring the balans by giving you Goemon being comforted by Lupin :)
Episode 112 will always be my favorite! It was so well-written, so emotional and it most certainly shaped the way i perceive Goemon and especially his relationships with Lupin and Jigen. For me the short dialogue in the end between Lupin and Goemon when they finally meet will always be iconic because its one of the greatest depictions of just how much they care for eachother. And thats why i chose this screencap for my redraw - because this is something dear to me
A lot of people ask “How do I get into Lupin The Third” and what to watch first, so here’s the answer:
If you wanna be in blissful ignorance before getting sucked into the rabbit hole Castle of Cagliostro, if you wanna get hit with the rabid biting at the bars of my cage obsession first Lupin The Third The First, and if u wanna really get jiggy with it go to YouTube and watch “clips I’d use for a video essay on Jigen”, “the lupgang being anything but straight”, “Lupin iii part 2 clips that I think about a lot” and “four minutes of daisuke Jigen being a grumpy old man” and then watch part 2
And if you wanna get a FRIEND into it and you want them to suffer, make them watch Mystery of Mamo
Thank you all once again for participating in my tournament! This is probably the first of me hosting something big on one of my favourite anime’s in any platform! The Daisuke Jigen movie is around the corner so expect the tournament to start up once again after the time being. Till then… we will see you next time!
In the second opening for Lupin III Part 2, there’s a reference to the manga with Goemon standing above the waves, its symbolism of the moon, and the lyrics of the song:
“Like a shooting star in the sky”
Aside from that I really love this opening. The style they went for is so good with the different colors and characters breaking through “panels” and the singing is just great.
As for the style of the character design I’m under the impression that the manga Shin Lupin and the anime part 2 influenced each other. The manga was released during the airing of part 2, meaning between 1977 and 1980/81.
It’s obvious both the manga and part 2 went into a different style for the characters. Apart from the fact that a huge portion of part 2 was, can I say it? just badly drawn and even worse animated to the point that some panels don’t even seem to have reached the final stage of a drawing but looked like the first raw sketches were directly sent to print, (either they were under pressure and had to go with quantity in place of quality or I have to believe a deliberate bad job in order to obtain… what?) see the difference between the first bunch of episodes up until 100 ca and the better quality from there on, not to mention when A Production aka Miyazaki and co. returned and gave us those final episodes that were masterpieces if compared to the previous episodes and the characters regained their normal look.
As I was saying though it looked like part 2 had an influence on Monkey Punch’s style as well. I’m not sure I actually prefer Shin Lupin to the first series, talking stylewise not storywise.
hello void
I realize I'm years late to this, and idk if there is even a big presence for the show on this site but I wanna post about it somewhere
Been watching the Lupin show with Omar Sy and having a good time with it, finished s1 earlier and watched the first ep of s2 and damn that was a strong opener
also wtfff was that ending!!!
Very well shot and edited, interspersing Assane's first failed "heist" and this "failed" rescue attempt(failed in quotes because idk if the show is gonna go through with killing Raoul off, but we'll see)
Both times he's failed and hurt one of the people he's cared about most in the world, both times he overestimated his abilities to do something alone
(Which is part of the reason I'm doubting that Raoul is dead dead for the moment, it works really well here for juxtaposition, with the Claire scene as to what goes wrong when he gets too overconfident and/or averse to accepting help, but I don't think the death of his son is necessary to motivate him to go against Pellegrini given he's already responsible for the death of Assane's father and Fabienne, plus as dark as this show can be sometimes, going through with this would be by far the darkest thing that has happened so far)
But I'm invested and enjoying it, despite any gripes I may have with the logic of things lol, I don't think this is the kinda show where I should worry about that sort of thing
