This might sound insane but I genuinely think the Lupin The Third Franchise is pushing itself to have prettier animation and more serious plot lines because the younger demographics think the characters are hot and the company’s playing into it. I mean look at Jigen for example.

This is how he originally looked in older cartoons. Then, people started calling him hot and now look at him in The First:

LIKE CMON. THEY KNOW WHAT THEYRE DOING

I will also add: no this is not me projecting, I’m asexual I don’t think anyone’s hot. I honestly think the animation in the first is kinda uncanny valley and I think most of the characters look ugly.

But I know conventionally attractive to straight people (and gay bottoms) when I see it. The tumblr sexyman shit has breached containment and now the Lupin franchise is playing into it and I think that’s the funniest fucking thing I’ve realized in a long time

Was watching WCI with my brother and we both agreed to y'know, ignore Sanji thirsting over girls way younger than him like Shirahoshi, Pudding and Vivi and instead re character-ized him as a Lupin the Third type character in our minds

When Lupin is faced with a way younger girl like Ami, Clarisse or Leatitia, he'll still put on a prince charming/gentlemanly persona and will still be like "Oh I'm just a prince rescuing a beautiful princess !" But when said girl actually starts showing romantic interest or falls in love with him, he reels back 99% and gets serious like "Hey, kiddo, you're beautiful, smart and talented and I'm going to need you to go out in the world and live your life, and fall in love with a man who will love and cherish you. I will always care for you but you have to know, I'm not the man for you."

It would have been so better if Sanji matured like this and was this way with Pudding and they had a Lupin/Clarisse or a Lupin/Laetitia type involvement where he rescues a young girl from a terrible situation where she's being exploited and even though said vulnerable young girl falls for him seriously, he can't take advantage of that, so he reels them back into reality.

It's obvious that Sanji does really care for Pudding, even in ways where it is kinda like Lupin and how he deals with young girls but it's kind of erased when you still pull the "(HEART EYES) PRETTY GIRL, I MUST THIRST !" joke

Something that has always, always nagged me about this show is this specific episode:

What’s with the ‘quotes’?

And this specific moment:

What a weird line, right?! ‘Taking the title’? They don’t seem to be related, and I always assumed they were ex’s (🫣🤨). So what gives?

AND THEN WE GET THE SYNOPSIS FOR THE NEXT LUPIN ZERO EPISODE

The best thing about writing Lupin III fanfiction is that for the most part you just can't be wrong. Lupin III can be about the black market or the mafia or weapons smuggling. Lupin III can also be about finding Bigfoot and killing vampires. The characters have edgy portrayals and super silly ones. AND if you like self inserts and ocs, a lot of the movies (and heck part 4 has Rebecca) add a character into the main plot. So it's pretty easy to stick someone new into the mix AND you can make them a little weird or special with a little less risk of making them unbalanced.

That said, share your lupin fanfiction with me and I'll read the heck out of it and tell you nice things.
