I want a large fruit bowl to sit on the table/counter/whatever, but it's got a clear lid, so you can see all the fruit and it's refrigerated/ventilated to keep the fruit fresh as long as possible. you should only get social security if you have children

#this is a hot take that just came to me #i've put no thought into it #but my instinct is that historically children would take care of their parents in old age #now the state does #so there is less incentive to have children #but if you can only get social security if you have children #then it's basically the same idea just a step removed #and it ensures there will be future generations to support older generations #which obviously is becoming an increasingly serious concern #and the long time horizon will minimize adverse selection #low quality people who only care about immediate profit won't be as incentivized to have kids #plus i feel like if you want the state to take care of you in old age #you should have some duty to invest in its future by having children #also a bachelor tax #and a funko pop owner tax #but seriously if you want to forgo having children and thus basically sentence your nation to death #so you can accrue wealth and live a selfish life of ease and luxury #then you should have no expectation of the state taking care of you #and instead you should take from your own pool of wealth that you accrued from not having children #in order to provide for your own retirement at your own expense #seems only fair
