Doodle from some days ago that was the result of an earlier silly conversation about whether or not Illithids can become were-something, which later devolved into "but what if one is bitten by a werewolf?", so I had to draw my astromancer Rovan as one just for fun lol

I know a lot of people have wildly varying interpretations on how old the characters in Diaries are (which I totally respect) but my interpretation of specifically Aaron and Zane makes me chuckle because during the events of season 1 I have Aaron in his early-mid forties and Zane at like. 25. With the whole Falcon Claw oopsie thing between them I just it’s really funny to imagine a 40 year old man having incredibly personal beef with a college sophomore.

The Zemira Sisters.
Woods actually draws other ocs that aren't Skye Asterism?? More likely than you'd think (and won't happen again until the next leap year).
Tumblr media
3/6 of the main cast! That being:
(✦) Skye Asterism
(✦) Drift Zemira
(✦) Mist Zemira
(✦) Emory Cassian
(✦) Farren Cassian
(✦) Vesper Tines
Briefest of deep dives. Literally can not stress ENOUGH how I want asks about these guys. At some point I'll post a big lore dump!!
Skye Asterism is Project Songbird's protagonist. She's Drift's older twin and starts out as a starry-eyed kid in a ruffian village just beyond Kalopsia's border. She always was a wild and impulsive thing, overly sensitive and sentimental. A lycan that cried seeing deers be brought home from the hunt. her mind always ticked as restlessly as she did. Just like her mother, she had a certain passion for the stars. If only the similarities to her had ended there. But weak, little Skye Zemira couldn't have known she would become what she admired so fervently; a star of the less desirable sort, an unravelling supernova.
Drift Zemira is something of a glass child. She grew up bitter and neglected, taken under the wing of her Aunt Tyche instead of Lilah's, her father. As a result, she became a highly unlikeable teen, a delinquent characterised by flashing teeth and flying spit. She resented Skye for getting all their father's attention despite his insistence that she would understand when she was older, the eyes behind the words so blue and sad. Rage was a balm for the wounded beast hulking behind her ribcage. She's also ginger <3
Mist Zemira is the oldest of the three, two years older than the Zemira twins. She's their half sister after Lilah served as surrogate to her mothers. They're beloved to the ruffian den, their home a flourishing medicinal herb garden and a medical practice in one, one a gardener and the other a medic. The platonically bonded (but hopelessly devoted) pair decided to have a child together, someone to raise to be a speck of goodness in the world. Lilah was willing and Mist was born. She's a kind yet hardy lycan, exceptionally skilled at medicinary. She keeps Drift afloat in all this. Her hands are scarred from tending to the garden but you will never feel a touch gentler than hers.
Too bad all three are doomed by the narrative.
When the Zemira twins are age 14, Mist age 16, they flee the ruffian den. Lilah had vanished a month prior. With Mist's home an orange blaze behind them, fellow lycans crowing for the end of the "three cursed Zemira sisters", Tyche leads them into the spasming heart of the unknown: the Redwood Sea, heading towards the distant land of Kalopsia.

hiii, could a vampire and werewolf have a child?
Hello 💜
Yes! A vampire and werewolf definitely can have a child, and it’d technically be considered a hybrid, but it’d take after only one of the parents— for a variety of reasons. One of them being that the Blessed, another name for the supernatural races within Moon Rising, are “blessed” by different deities; vampires, for instance, being blessed by Selene. Now can a cross happen? Yes, but it’s very rare and it doesn’t end well (which is part of the reason hybrids have been outlawed across Tenebria; to discourage the possibility of creating one).

Werewolf Lore: bites
It is very rare for one to be turned into werewolves in the 21th century due to the circumstances necessary for the curse to take hold in the human body. Magic within this world can be very finicky, and werewolf magic is incredibly finicky. Being bitten by a normal werewolf will not turn a person, it will just hurt a lot. The werewolf must be rabid in order for the change to occur.
The magic of the werewolf changes the disease and allows the curse to be passed on to the victim. The new diseases is more survivable than rabies, but the werewolf is much more aggressive in this stage, so the hard part is surviving the attack itself.  If they survive their injuries is a 99% chance they will become a werewolf.
This happened more often before the 19th century before werewolves were required to be vaccinated for rabies. The likelihood of being turned went from a real problem to being incredibly rare. The likelihood of being bitten by a rabid werewolf has the same statistical likelihood of being struck by lightning.

how does lycanthropy work in ur world? i love hearing the different ways everyone interprets it, it’s an inheritable chronic illness caused by hormone disorder in my oc universe for example hehe
Lycanthropy was a gift (or curse depending on perspective) to humans from various supernatural canids they worshiped (Anubis, Skoll & Hati, Lupa, etc.). The idea of worship is somewhat loose and it includes general belief in the entity. The stronger the belief, the more influence the creature has.
June's lycan lineage for example is from The Beast of Gevaudan. The fear of the beast manifested it into something more powerful than legend, and it was able to spread it's influence by turning others. But over time, belief in the beast, and therefore the beast itself, faded. However, the lycans it created still roamed the French countryside, but are very rare compared to other lineages that still actively worship their deities.
It's normally spread through deep wounds or bites, so you gotta get pretty fucked up by a lycan to contract lycan syndrome and turn into one. The only exceptions are the lineages that are still connected to their gods, as they can summon the god to turn others into lycans.
Mental health also effects how human or animalistic their beast forms appear. Some have entire societies with human-like lycans that can still preform their daily activities in either form. June suffered a lot in her early years as a lycan, and so her form became much more animalistic. The plot centers around June learning to move past her trauma and finding healthy ways to cope, which overtime helps her gain more control of her form.

Do you ever forget about your characters like real implications of an oc’s lore until you draw it and are like “ oh yeah, I made werewolves genuinely freaky with lore” but anyways, I liked this quite a bit, the background is mid but whatever.
Uhh but yeah, ima give you all some lore here. Basically my werewolf is called a lycan, not very original but I like it. Their saliva works like Komodo dragon venom bleeding out prey and when they can’t move they bite off their heads to kill them. The whole thing is “if they are walking to you you are dead” I’ve put a lot of thought into the biology of my Lycans and I have like a 50 page doc of just science might post more about them.

I... Wouldn't give Miranda that much importance to the whole RE universe. Like yeah, she mentored Oswel Spencer, but they did split, before he found progenetor virus and started whole UMBRELLA thing. Megamicet didn't get involved until Connections somehow contacted Miranda :p
Although, CAPCOM does seem to be changing lore slowly. So it might be revealed in later games, that progenitor virus and Las Plagas parasites had Mytomicete as they common origin... But for that we'll have to see :p
That seems to be what they're working towards I think. Or at least it feels that way.
Which I think would at least give it some kind of sense. Because the Megamycete is kind of an enigma, but it's like... a solid thing.
Like you have the T-Virus and G-Virus and whatever but it's like... what's in it that makes people become a rabid zombie.
But I don't pay a lot of attention to the lore anyway so maybe they do answer that.

for the asks, 20 and 27?
20- you can only change one plotline in the entire canon—what would it be and how would you alter it?
The relationship between Aphmau and Aaron. I know, huge surprise, but gimme a minute: I don’t really care about the fact that they slept together all that much (though I definitely could’ve gone without), I care about how only how that was the sole reason used to say that Aphmau was in love with him (which again is not the rarest of complaints). However, I have a theory that I'm going to explore about how Irene's relic may have factored into that relationship and how it may have influenced Aphmau without her knowledge. One of the subtler themes I've noticed about the show is how it explores the concept of free will and the sins of the father trope. I think a storyline following Aphmau as she learns more about the relic and how it changed/changes her as a person would be pretty juicy if it came to a point where someone suggests that the love she thought she felt towards Aaron may have just been a product of the relic finding attachment in one of Shad's descendants, as it remembers how much it cared about Shad in the past. I could see a whole subplot of her coming to a decision about whether or not she chooses to claim those feelings she had as her own or as Irene's.
27- what's something really interesting that you wished canon decided to explore more? alternatively, what's something interesting that you wished the fandom acknowledged more?
God there's literally so much. My two big ones would be the Divine Warriors as a whole and the monarchy that existed before Irene destroyed it. Something interesting I wished the fandom acknowledged more... Honestly can't think of anything of the top of my head, though one thing that has been driving me crazy for a while is how actually fucking stupid it was for the Lord of Scaleswind to agree to an arranged marriage when Nicole (his only child ever shown or mentioned) to the heir of O'Khasis. Because buddy, how the fuck did you think that was going to go? Who the fuck was going to rule Scaleswind after you died when you shipped of what is implied to be your only heir to the next greatest superpower in your region? Unless long distance marriage was A-OK or something he was essentially signing his entire dynasty's death warrant. If he was stupid enough to think Scaleswind would've been able to stay independent after losing his only heir then he fucking deserved for his lineage to end. Idiot.
Anyway in my rewrite I'm giving her a briefly mentioned older brother that was the first heir of Scaleswind just to slap a bandaid on that little plot hole.

MyStreet rewrite
IDK what's even happening man, I was talking with a friend today and got inspo to do… this.
so here's the first bit of me fucking with lore by establishing this little bit of lore to operate in my version. i uh, took inspo from other series when writing this, and you'll notice it when i talk about were-wolfs. in other words, uh, here ya go.
~~~~
Species; there are 3 main species, that being human, witch, and were-creature.
Were-creatures can be further divided into the subspecies of were-cats, were-dogs, and the seemingly extinct were-wolf. Other animal such as deer or rabbits are rare, but possible. They're characterized by animal-like features on a humanoid body, such as ears, tails, and backward facing knees.
Were-wolves are very rare and thought to be extinct, but their blood is known to be a key-ingredient in immortality potions. Any and all were-wolves live in secret, and are indistinguishable from were'dogs in their more humanoid form.
Witches can be characterized by their unnatural eye-color and pointed ears. Witches are the only known creature to be able to perform natural magic, though all creatures can create positions.
Family weirdness;
The Ro'meave's are a very rich and well off family. They deal with illegal potion trading, despite being fully human. They have 3 children, one of whom is a witch, and are known to be obsessed with status and appearance. They're likely dealing in were-wolf blood, though the father seems to be the face of these operations.
The Lycan's are a well off family of were-dogs and two secret were-wolves. They're very secretive and recluse, and not much is known about the family outside their jobs in law. They have 2 children, one were-dog and one were-wolf.
The Díaz's (Aphmau's family) are immigrants from the Dominican Republic, the father disappeared 1 year prior to the move, and has been assumed dead. The mother has only one child, who's a rare instance of a cross-bread; Half were-wolf, half human, and appears almost entirely human.
The Valkrum's are a well off family, the mother having passed some years prior of an unnamed illness. The father appears to be an unknown 4th species, simply called warlock. There is 1 child, who appears to be a human with an affinity to magic. Whether the child is also a warlock is unknown.
