I love Paul getting his little complaints about Stuart’s bass playing out in the Michelle lyrics episode … it’s not too perfectionist to ask for someone to be able to play the bass ehem ehem 💅🏻
I don’t think I’ve ever heard paul talk about when he froze up playing his guitar solo I’ve only read about it so I enjoyed that.
Also season finale next week 😩

Heyyy gimme podcast recs pls thank u
done.
I definitely recommend Rude Tales of Magic. It’s a dnd podcast with most of the actual play removed so it’s mostly roleplay and story telling. Each episode averages about an hour or so. Basic premise is that a handful of college students fuck the world up by completing a hazing which in this case is a demon summoning ritual. They have to find out how to fix the world.
If you like modern scifi definitely look into Midnight Burger. They’re a really well written fiction podcast and have incredible characters that are just really well done. You’ll somehow like and hate all of them as much as possible in the best way. Episodes average about 30 minutes to an hour or so. It’s about a time/space traveling diner and the residents/employees try to help solve a problem every place they land. (Think dr who but with more drama) There is an overarching plot that comes together so look out for that.
On the topic of fiction……. Monstrous Agonies. Great fiction podcast and it’s just super chill and comforting. Episodes are about 15 minutes so it’s a nice in between tasks listen. The idea is that it’s an radio advice segment on a station for “liminal Britain” aka the monster world to put it plainly. There’s very good advice there and the intermittent ad reads will have you giggling.
I don’t want to spend all day here so I’ll only put one more. In a similar vein as Monstrous Agonies, Desert Skies. Another fiction podcast ik ik. The voice acting in this one is insane (it’s the same person the whole time) and just super well done. Episodes last around 25 minutes, sometimes a bit more or less. The premise is that when you die you show up on a highway and get to this fuel pit stop. I’m not going to spoil it anymore you just have to experience it.

Mikaele Salesa vs questionable roadside merchant for characters I think would make amazing NPC merchants go—
Also here are several thoughts into one about the sound design!
It’s so strange how before the sounds and music (except for the intro) in Archives were diegetic?
But now we have background music and sound effects that characters shouldn’t normally be able to hear (unless Augustus played a sound clip of the violin and they just… chose not to comment on it. Which doesn’t make sense but is funny to imagine. :’D)
And I honestly can’t tell if there is an intentional in-universe reason for this or if it’s a stylistic choice because like
the last time I assumed something was ‘just a stylistic choice’ was Jon being weirdly dramatic with his recordings
I wonder too if the fact that the recordings are from what sounds like cameras have something to do with it? Something wants us as the audience to hear things the characters aren’t aware of maybe? Would that be too weird to assume?
Because like, we’ve already had an ARG which is by itself a way for media to interact with the audience.
And I can’t help but think about how we’ve had the theme for the archives show up in almost like a “pay attention, it’s that thing you knew before” kind of way. It feels almost by design and not just in well. In an amazing sound design kind of way.
But also I could be completely off-base because I like to overthink things
Also the sound design is just 🤌🤌
ALSO THE THEME SONG I love it so much because it’s like BWAAAAAAM (and also the fact that the structure of it sounds similar to the Archives’ theme but different enough for you to go ‘wait a second’).
They almost sound like the inverse of each other? Which kind of fits with the whole mirror/same but different thing going on. Two sides of the same coin, that kinda thing.
Very excited to see where this goes!
