#mac finds his pride
Im Mac im Mac finds his pride but without the finding pride part ❤
kaitlin in a 2013 interview talking about how the new season will make it clear mac is a straight up homophobic gay man... idk made me think we need rcgkd to do an interview rn where they say the new season will make it clear the show will have straight up homophobic gay macdennis

i need to know RCG’s reasoning to have Frank be pretty much the only character involved with Mac’s coming out to his dad.
Like I know in “Being Frank” he was super irritated and put off by Mac - but like they always say they all hate him or that’s he’s annoying (granted they all feel that way about each other but also care about each so so so much)
And I know he’s the oldest so like generationally it makes “sense” for him to be homophobic and thus have this big epiphany of “I get it” (which genuinely makes me tear up every time because Danny Devito is an AMAZING actor.
I guess there’s a part of me that would’ve loved to see Charlie, Dennis and Dee witness this moment for Mac - like im sure off-screen they were captivated but seeing them react to it onscreen would’ve been EVERYTHING.

This was such a beautiful moment. Like, Mac's sliding and it's akin to being thrown into this new life but then he lands on his knees, completely in control, and fuck they could not have made it more perfect.
And Danny Devito's face is killing me. The way he muttered "I get it"... 😭

Macs dance was absolutely beautiful. Just amazing. The dancer did such a good job and the message was heartbreaking. It destroyed me.
A little wip I need to get back to,,,, this episode made me *sob* for like 20 minutes I am so gay and homophobic for this man

I cried so much watching this episode. on so many levels they captured the essence of the reality of coming out. the fanfare of pride that can create dissonance from people that haven't quite accepted it was shown in the character divide between dee & charlie and what mac metaphorically communicated in this beautifully poignant performance. I'm so proud of he handled this.
had to stop autoplay because I still can't stop crying. felt like this brought up a lot of my own sexuality conflicts that I constantly put in a box under the bed
I think this shows a glimmer of hope for all that are in between acceptance
seriously though what the fuck sunny :')

How DARE its always sunny in Philadelphia make me cry with mac finds his pride. I’m genuinely floored at the magnificence of the dance and there aren’t enough words in the english language to describe my feelings about that spectacle.

I really like this difference in the two appearances of the cross in Mac’s dance: at the very beginning of his story, it’s something separate from him, something he is on his knees with and crucified upon. After the storm and the death spiral*, after he’s thrown God from him and broken down, only to have her come back to pull him up again, they reform the symbol, this time with him standing as an active strong support.
Somewhere from Goes to Hell to Bathroom Problem to Finds His Pride, Mac reconciled his religion as something he doesn’t need to be hurt by and can go back to being an annoying Biblethumper about, or at least found a way to tell himself it’s possible :)
*as it’s referred to in this excellent article about the creation of the dance
