we’ve become trees

Derek looks like the movies. When the camera pans out and shows a glimpse of the mysterious bad boy, the one who is tortured and hard-edged and smokes cigarettes beside the bleachers. And you just know, from the very beginning, that’s the boy the main character is going to fall for. No one can resist the injured eyes and the romanticized nihilism, certainly not a nobody who can never garner a second glance from anyone.
For a moment, Stiles is struck with the thought that, were they any other two people on the planet going to prom together, he would have loved Derek. Could have envisioned something real with him. Stiles fiddles with his seatbelt strap to avoid thinking that. That he is the main character.
or: Stiles can see ghosts and Talia Hale’s appearance in his living room makes things really fucking complicated.
(rated explicit for in depth depiction of grief, death-related thoughts, suicidal ideation, and eventual smut)
tags: angst, grief/mourning, emotional hurt/comfort, coming of age, growing up, mutual pining, minor character death, slow burn, stiles stilinski sees ghosts, soulmates (kind of), falling in love, alcohol abuse/alcoholism, dealing with trauma, allusions to canonical non-con, learning to live with grief, suicidal ideation, implied peter/claudia (one-sided), murder mystery b plot, angst with a happy ending, clairvoyant lydia, elements of tarot, pov alternating
cw: kate, canonical character death, and overall themes of dying, death, murder, grief, and alcoholism (in relation to the sheriff)
overall disclaimer: this is meant to be a story about growing up and dealing with grief first, a love story second, and a murder mystery last. so, while the plot does explore certain motifs and developments, the overarching theme i am concerned with here is the emotional aspects of getting older, losing the people you love, and finding it in yourself to forgive.

Congrats to Wincest shippers for securing the tenth position. Hugs and smiles from the Winchesters, they got their happy ending after all.
Congrats to Wolfstar shippers for securing the seventeenth position. Sirius is howling and dancing in his animagus form in glee. Remus looks fed but is happy.

Watching Luca I was really happy that Massimo's missing arm wasn't due to some incident with sea monsters to cause conflict, he was just born that way. I also liked that there was no reason or big backstory as to why Ercole was such an ass/hates sea monsters (when usually you get backstories for why mean characters are mean, cause sometimes you can just be a jerk).
Then it got me thinking....
This also meant that a sea monster never wronged Massimo, but he still wanted to hunt them; a sea monster never did anything to Ercole to cause his hatred, he just hates them because they are sea monsters. Sea monsters never hurt this town but they were against them anway.
So long story short, I've discovered a new layer in the allegory for the queer experience from this movie and idk what to do anymore
