Now that I think about it, Alma would be utterly petrified of the outside once she learns that there's a whole war going on.

To me, her first reaction would be to tell everyone (mainly her family) to stay within the Encanto. Just as a trauma response of sorts? I mean, the last time she dealt with a war her husband (and probably many others) died. (And I could be wrong but, were the people raiding Alma's town apart of a war? if not, let me know.)

So, her reaction would be to keep her family safe. But my question is, how do you think the madrigals would react to her doing this?

On one hand, I think some would be compliant because it's there a war going on and people can die from those. Staying somewhere safe is the best option.

But on the other hand, I think most of them would be like "I want to see what else is out there"

Also, personally, how do you think she would react?

And I had this idea where Isabela (and possibly the rest of the family) wants to go out and see the world and Mirabel kind of feels like "We just started bonding as a family and now you want to leave?!". Bonus if Alma feels that way too.

But that's just what I think.

Completely agree!

Alma would be terrified but, considering her character growth, I don’t think she’d want to place a foot down so hard. She wouldn’t want to stop anyone from leaving, in risk of limiting/controlling the family again.

Julieta, being the healer and the one exposed to horrific injuries, I imagine would have similar views to her mother. She probably would try to subtly try to convince people not to do so.

Mirabel as well. She’d absolutely take it awfully. And, she’s clearly one of the biggest homebodies in the family - I don’t think she could comprehend staying a night out of Casita at a friend’s house, let alone leaving Encanto. Like, what the heck, Isa?

The rest of the family, Isabela being at the top of the list, would all have a desire to see the outside world. While the others probably only leave for a short time to the closest towns/cities, Isabela would be going for months at a time and wouldn’t limit herself to just the local Colombian cities.

After a few trips with no harm, Julieta would cool off and could possibly be tempted to leave as well. Alma would be relieved and more comfortable letting her family go, but that underlying trauma of losing Pedro would still be there. Mirabel would never really back down the same way - her and Isa’s relationship definitely strained during the height of Isabela’s travel years. (They are okay again now, they worked through it).

Transformers/MTMTE x Humans Are Space Orcs

~~~~~~

“What the hell?” Those were the words that left Rodimus’s lips upon seeing their saviors. They had been caught in the crossfire of a firefight upon jumping into another universe. One of the ships, twice the size of the Lost Light, had hooked the ship to their own and attempted escape. The other ship had tried to follow, but was repelled by some nasty particle beams their captor ship used.

The captor ship had invited them to board, promising no harm and wishing to ask question. So a party, made up of Rodimus, Megatron, Ultra Magnus, and Drift, boarded the other ship. What they were not expecting… were humans.

Cybertronian-sized humans. The shortest among the welcoming party was only a few feet shorter than Rodimus. A dark-skinned human, with dreadlocks that reached their waist and a height that rivaled Megatron, was the first to greet them.

“Welcome aboard the Queen Nzinga. I am her captain, Tejumola Adeyemi. But you may call me Teju, as my crew does.” They smiled, white teeth showing a kind of charisma the Cybertronians were unused to.

“I am Rodimus Prime, captain of the Lost Light. This is my second, Ultra Magnus, and third, Drift. And this is my…co-captain, Megatron.” They grew tense, afraid of how the humans would react to the ex-warlord’s presence. However, the crew made no sign of surprise or disgust. In fact, they made no expression at all.

Captain Teju nodded. “I apologize for the damage you may have suffered from our fight with the pirates. It was not our intent to cause any harm. We were attempting to repel them when you appeared.” Teju’s eyes narrowed. “However, it was rather surprising that you seemed to… come out of thin air. Were your sensors not working? You should have been able to see the firefight from the observation deck.”

“Haha,” Rodimus grinned, trying to pass off as nonchalant. “Yea, our… systems were having problems. Our ship is in need of repair, but it’s nothing we can’t handle.”

Teju nodded, though he looked unpersuaded. “Simply ask and we shall provide. Isabella Madrigal is our head engineer,” he gestured to the woman, the shortest among the three humans. Dark hair tied in a bun and wearing oil-stained overalls, she smiled at the four. “She will take care of your repair needs.”

“And Garrison Johnsonn is my Third,” they turned to the third of the party. “He will take care of any non-repair needs.” A male human, with blond curly hair and big blue eyes grinned at them. He then made some gestures, moving his hands to make intricate signs.

Teju nodded, watching Garrisons hands. Then he made similar signs. He turned to the four. “Garrison is Deaf, so if you need to speak with him, make sure you keep your mouth visible, as he can read your lips. He always has a writing device to communicate if you are having trouble.” A beep sounded, and the captain glanced down at a holoscreen that appeared around their wrist.

“With that, I must take my leave. We have our own injuries we must take care of. I will send my Second down to negotiate any further details.” Captain Teju nodded to his two colleagues, then left.

For the next hour, Rodimus and his colleagues worked out the kinks with the two humans. Isabella proved her knowledge on their quantum engines to be vast, and Megatron couldn’t help but think that she and Nautica would get along well. The four learned that the hand signs Garrison was using was a visual language used by non-verbal humans, and was eerily similar to chirolinguistics and other forms of cybetronian sign language.

Teju had given permission for the Lost Light crew to come aboard and mingle. Some didn’t waste anytime upon hearing about the Cybertronian-sized humans.

Whirl lost his mind. And he also drove Garrison nuts. He had jumped on the human, badgering him with question after question. But from what the others could tell, Garrison couldn’t tell Burr was speaking. He just stared wide-eyed at the taller mech waving his arms and shoving his yellow optic close to his face.

Ratchet put a hand on Whirl and signed to Garrison, surprising the human. Without missing a beat, the blond man began to sign as if it was a choreographed dance. Ratchet matched him. At Rodimus’s open-mouthed envy, Ratchet revealed he had downloaded the language and learned a good bit during his time on earth, as there were many soldiers either deaf or had lost their hearing in battles.

Nautica fell in easily with Isabelle, as Megatron had predicted. They chattered away, discussing quantum mechanics, physics, engine schematics, and other things. It seemed they were speaking in their own native language.

After a while another human came down to greet them. A female, nearly as tall as Teju, with tan, freckled skin and honey brown eyes. The warmth of her natural colors was quickly cooled by the freezing expression on her face. She and Megatron could have been related by how intimidating she was.

“I am Rune DeLago, Captain Adeyemi’s second. I am here if there are any directly serious matters that need mine and the Captain’s attention.” She looked to Isabella and Garrison. She signed whilst speaking. “You two are needed downstairs. Your apprentices are making a mess of the engine room, and the cargo hold is in equal distress. We can’t waste anymore time.”

As the two waved their goodbyes and left, leaving the Cybertronians to the steel-faced woman. She looked them up and down in silence, scrutinizing every detail about them. Her next words took them off guard.

“I know who you are and why you are. So do not bother trying to hide your identities.” Her eyes narrowed. “My crew comes first and if you threaten their well-being, I will not hesitate to terminate you. Is that clear?”

Those present were taken aback. To hear a human speak with such authority and dangerous aggression was strange. Especially to Megatron. He had seen the race as nothing more than pests in the way of his previous goals. But now… these new humans made him uneasy. He was suddenly reminded of why one of his original goals was to wipe away organic species. They were a threat to his kind.

Rodimus spoke up, his usual attempt at nonchalance coming across as arrogance. “Of course we don’t mean you any harm. We’re autobots, our job is to protect your race. We intend to keep-“ He was cut off by the woman’s scoff.

“Don’t quote your factions precious code to me. I’m aware of it. The humans of your universe may have needed your protection due to significant physical differences, but in this universe it is very, very different.”

This universe. Your universe. She knew they were time jumpers. That’s what she meant. Megatron was going ask, but Rune was already ahead of him.

“To put it quickly, your kind does not exist in this universe. If Cybertronians ever did, they died out long ago.” It was like Megatron’s spark had been hit with a brick. “The war of your universe never happened here, and if you dare to bring your silly prejudices and issues into this one, it will not end well for you.”

“I don’t think we’re the ones with prejudice here.” Drift said quietly. Rune’s razor sharp gaze cut to him.

“You’re right. I’m not fond of your kind. And I don’t care about your view of mine. Behave and we won’t have a problem.” Her gaze landed in Megatron, and he felt his joints tighten. “I don’t care about your pasts and who you were. Respect my people and I’ll respect yours.”

She glanced down at the holoscreen on her arm, and made a clicking sound. “I have duties to attend to. Inform me of anything you need and I’ll inform the captain. Other than that, you are free to explore our ship. Teju is open to those who are friendly, but do not broach his kindness.”

She walked away and out of the bay, leaving the mechs in the quiet. Megatron was left with an unresolved feeling. How in Primus’ name did she know so much?

“I wanna shoot her face off.” Whirl mumbled.

Happy Pride Month to the entire community! To those who are out and rightfully loud about their identity. To those who can only celebrate in online spaces. To those who are not safe to come out. To those who don’t feel a need to be ‘out.’ To those who embrace specific labels. To those who cast labels aside. To those who are struggling with their identity. Pride Month is for all of us.

I was 13 when I figured out that I was queer, and 14 when I decided to put my first label on it by outting myself to my friends, and I immediately wanted to take it back because of how quiet the room got. I kept my label of being bi to myself after that. But even after clutching that title close to my heart, for the longest time, I felt that it still didn’t quite encompass how I felt. I never obsessed over boys (or girls) the way my friends did. I never got crushes on people. And whenever someone did approach me with romantic pursuit or was giving that kind of vibe, I always felt sick to my stomach. I thought that maybe I was just scared of romance because it had never happened to me. I thought maybe this is just how everyone feels but they manage to power through. I thought maybe I was broken.

It was only this past January that it finally clicked, and it was by getting an ao3 comment, of all things. It was from someone who shared and reacted to a passage I had written inadvertently resonating with their own romantic attraction. The idea of being demi-romantic had been slowly growing on me as I wrote my fic, but hearing it from another person and how much they related to my own feelings I had given to a (very self-insert) character validated those feelings tenfold. It was no longer just me weaving in my personal hang-ups in to a fic, it was something that even just one other person could understand. I wasn’t alone.

Yes, it does feel a little silly to say that writing a Bruno Madrigal x Reader fic helped me become more comfortable and validated in my sexuality and identity, but here we are.

Once again, happy Pride! This blog has always been and will continue to remain a safe place for the entire LGBTQ+ community. Remember to celebrate with love, joy, passion, acceptance, and above all else, kindness 💖

Okay, for the Alien Mirabel AU, I'm really curious how everyone reacts to an alien egg that hatches into an alien, someone must've freaked out. Also, I love the idea that Mirabel morphed to look like a human child, I'd imagine the alien race she comes from can shapeshift, she probably has a more alien looking base form but is really self-conscious about it, so she's rarely in that form, and only around her family. I'm also thinking about her door and gift ceremony, I'd imagine no one was sure if she'd get a door or gift, Mirabel assumed she wouldn't because she knew she was different and wasn't a Madrigal by blood, but Julietta and the magic said "no, you're Julietta's kid, doesn't matter if you came from an egg, which means you get a magic door" Mirabel's door has her floating in a galaxy of stars and her room would be all sci-fi and spaceship-y, because Mirabel wanted to know more about where she came from, I don't think she would get a power from the miracle since she already has alien powers, we already have shape-shifting and talking to animals as confirmed abilities she has and there's probably more, instead her 'gift' would be the means to figure out more about her alien race through her room's tech, which would help her figure out her alien powers and eventually maybe contact the other aliens, I like to imagine part of her room is a library with alien books and note from Casita basically saying 'you already have cool alien powers so you don't need a gift, so here's books on how to use your powers'. This AU honestly has a lot of potential for some sweet moments between Mirabel and Julietta, I imagine at first Mirabel isn't sure she's really a part of the family due to being an alien and adopted, but Julietta assures her she's a Madrigal, and when she gets her door, that's when she finally realizes she's truly a part of the family, I imagine Julietta says something really sweet like, "see, you are my daughter, you have a door just like me and your sisters, you're Mirabel Madrigal, my little miracle from the stars" I love wholesome family AUs, also if/when Mirabel's biological alien parents show up, Julietta and Agustin are the only one not freaking out and they end up agreeing to co-parent Mirabel and aliens are just chilling in Encanto from then on

Yo no gravity room is so funny to me. But like, I just imagine family members walking into her room and forgetting there’s no gravity and just freaking out for a moment and then being like “oh yeah”. Shoutout to Casita for giving her stuff to figure out her powers because. Even if she doesn’t have a full arsenal or whatever, she’s still pretty clueless on the ones she DOES have.

Shoutout to Julieta for da support‼️‼️ (Agustín and the other two as well I imagine). I. Seriously doubt her alien race would even come back for her, and if they did, it wouldn’t be for entirely good intentions. I mean, they did throw her out of the shop because they thought she was defective, so they probably don’t care very much 😭

I just kinda went ahead and combined Liu and Sully together since they aren't too terribly different, hope that's okay, and I hope you enjoy

Jason:

Jason absolutely adores this ability of yours, and he praises you for it quite regularly. Jason has always adored flowers and often has a variety of them decorating his workspace and living area, and so needless to say when he meets you it's quite a magical little experience for him. He could watch you use your ability for hours, quite honestly, but that would just be too many plants blooming and he realizes how impractical that is. Jason just thinks you look so beautiful surrounded by any sort of plant really, and watching them bloom and spread around you is an experience that he never thought he'd have or get to see. Jason's never really been one for photos, preferring to live in the moment, but I can see him capturing a few pictures of you at work whenever he catches you making some flowers bloom. You're just too gorgeous to not try and capture in permanent form, it's a sight he doesn't want a chance to forget.

Liu/Sully:

Liu and Sully both are quite entranced by that ability of yours. Liu is much more forthcoming with his love for flowers, obviously, if you've ever been in his room and seen the various flowers and plants taking up a majority of the space in there. Sully, however, is much more discreet about it, but still finds himself drawn to any sort of nature or outdoor area. When either of them first learns of your powers, both of their first reactions are to ask you to show them if it's alright, and when you do, you'll end up amazing each of them. Really, though, it's adorable to watch each boy react so excitedly to seeing it in action, so don't feel too troubled about having to do it twice. If you ever catch either of them having a bad day, it would be wonderful if you bloomed something for them, even just something small, because they just get filled with such wonder and love and amazement at watching you do something like that, and I definitely think it's worth it.

s2e2 here we goooooo. i have not found a better way to do this, so i'm doing it the same way.

once again, spoilers and uncharitable opinions and unfunny jokes.

So anyway, to do my minimal diligence in telling you what's going on, Kwan Ha shows up again at the end of episode 1 (she's the one Soren's kid has been sneaking off to and talking about monsters with).

Anyway.

Episode 2 already off to a bad start.

Halsey is somewhere talking to a girl named Julia, asking her about what she sees when she leaves this place (Julia doesn't say much) and about a man in charge.

Chips on the table: this is a Spartan-III and the man is Ackerson. I'm putting my bet down here.

Also, she gets a nose bleed and passes out so that's normal.

Then we have Kai talking to Riz and about her injury, and Riz insisting she's fine. Kai even suggests Riz put her pellet back to reduce the pain and Riz says:

Kai and John talk about how they kinda miss Halsey because at least she trusted them vs Ackerson.

I've mostly been distracted by this frame, though, because it has some Spartan names we haven't seen in it:

So we know there are at least 5 teams and they're using some old canon Spartan-II names.

Also, we've had it stated directly that it's been 6 months since the end of season 1. Which is a very short amount of time to have had multiple planets glassed, those campaigns each generally took months to fight out in the main canon.

What's important here, though, is that Cobalt team (mean jocks from earlier) are being put on standby while Chief knows they are still out on a mission and haven't come back yet, so he's getting upset.

We don't get any conclusion to this yet because it's time to jump.

Kwan is back, like I said.

I'm glad Kwan is back tbh because -- let's be clear, the show's bad and I felt like Kwan's subplot went fucking nowhere and didn't contribute much, which seems to have been a pretty common opinion. But if the show ejected the asian woman character just because that subplot was received poorly, it would've been much worse than having a weak subplot in the first place.

Kwan, as a survivor of Madrigal, is supposed to be in indentured servitude on the Rubble but she's gone on the run and is being tracked down by a guy with a scanner reacting to this fucking spike they put in her ear.

There's a chase scene, and she manages to rip out her ear tag and ditch her tail for a bit down in this trash compactor type zone, then she manages to space one of them and kills the other by stabbing him in the fucking head with her tag???

I think the implication we're supposed to pick up from the dialogue is that Kwan was accepted onto the station by Soren, but now that Soren's gone her indenture belongs to other (worse) pirates.

Meanwhile, this man (Louis) is suggesting that Riz take it easy and Riz, who has been beating a table with a sledge hammer, is taking that super well.

And there's physiotherapy.

Louis is a Spartan washout. He talks to Riz about how there can be more to life than being a Spartan, but Riz struggles with that and is clearly worried about being perceived as weak from the injury she got at the end of S1. She says some hard shit that she immediately walks back because Louis is an old friend and you can tell they care about each other. It's a million times better than the shit they did with Chief and Soren back in S1 and thank god.

Meanwhile, back at the hall of justice...

Chief is having a conflict with Ackerson about not clearing Silver team to go do missions because he thinks Chief's account of events at Sanctuary (the Covenant were already there before the glassing began, and they retreated from the fight with him) is suspect.

Ackerson tells him that the marine (Perez) doesn't corroborate his story and TV Chief shows character growth from last season by not manscreaming about it. Very proud of him.

I am kind of starting to enjoy Ackerson's nefarious shitweasel bit, it's more entertaining than a lot of what Halo TV makes me watch.

Laera (Soren's wife, I should use her name) confronts the crew of the ship that left when Soren got bagged. (I just don't care about Soren's subplot so I didn't bother to cap it, sorry.)

Meanwhile Kwan has an argument with Kessler (Soren's son) in the hidey hole they've been using as a hangout spot about the reality of the situation.

Did I mention Kwan has better hair this season? She does.

Anyway, then Silver Team is doing a training exercise. Riz is struggling. Also, they have her running SO FAST so you know that she's supposed to be the show's version of Kelly.

Also, we actually get some endearing Spartan interactions which are the only thing on this show that I truly like. (Vannak teases Riz about losing and brags about how he never loses, Kai and Riz are like ugh at him.)

About Dolores and Mirabel; and the aftermath of the things they heard. Set in the Miracles Plus AU.

Because an anon wanted to know how the family reacted.

A Restless and Unanswered Night

Dolores walks Mirabel back to Casita.

It’s a silent affair. One of Mirabel’s weak arms draped around her shoulders as she guides the girl along the path.

The medication bounces roughly against Dolores’ leg in her pocket. Mirabel hadn’t taken it when the midwife offered it to her. It’s going to leave a bruise.

The first thing that happens when they get back is Mirabel whispering that she feels sick.

Dolores doesn’t want to deal with the faff of the shared bathroom, so allows Mirabel to use the one in her room.

Rubbing her back and holding her hair (and glasses) aside, while Mirabel heaves until there’s nothing left. Dolores doesn’t blame her.

When it finally ends, she just curls up on the bathmat, sobbing with fresh tears. Wailing in terror. Screaming in distress. And Dolores doesn’t blame her.

That’s when Dolores goes to find the family.

Or, well, Mirabel’s immediate family. (Dolores will tell the rest of the adults later).

“I have to talk to you,” Dolores informs, entering the kitchen, with Isabela and Luisa tagging along behind her.

Julieta and Agustín look just as confused as their daughters, but they seem more willing to stop what they are doing and hear her out.

They are sat around the dining table and Dolores taps her glass anxiously, searching for the words.

“Mirabel is pregnant.”

None of them connect the dots.

Luisa spits out her coffee. Julieta blinks. Agustín still looks confused.

Isabela scoffs, and then laughs, “What were the chances of immaculate conception in the family Madrigal?” As soon as the joke leaves her mouth, she realises.

“Someone…” Julieta can’t bring herself to finish the question. Dolores nods.

Luisa’s mug shatters in her hand.

“Who?” Agustín asks.

“We… we don’t know.” Dolores answers. “I heard the heartbeat ages ago, but I didn’t want to say anything at first. I confronted her about it and she had no idea. I took her to a midwife… she’s almost seven months along. She doesn’t know how or when it happened.”

“Drugged.” Isabela piped up. “It’s the only way she wouldn’t have known.”

Nobody said anything.

“Where is she?” Julieta inquires, shakily.

“My room. Bathroom.”

Julieta is already out of her chair, almost knocking the thing onto the floor in her haste to get to her baby.

Another chair scratches back against the tiled floor.

“I’m going out. To fucking kill every fucking bastard with a cock in town,” Luisa seethes.

“Absolutely not. That’s completely insane, Luisa.” Dolores snapped.

Luisa is already gone though.

While Dolores tries to manage Luisa, chasing after her cousin, who wandered off in search of the cooking knives, Agustín breaks down crying at the table.

Isabela gets up and hugs him, not knowing what else to do.

They stay like that for an hour.

Having since left Dolores’ room, they were now in Mirabel’s own.

As Mirabel had washed and changed, Julieta made herself useful in cleaning Dolores’ bathroom. It wasn’t necessary, it was just something to do.

Mirabel’s skin, neck downwards, was a-blazing red and sensitive from where she’d clearly very aggressively scrubbed herself clean. Julieta decided to forgo the lecture for now, she’d be too stubborn to listen anyways.

Mirabel now lay in bed, much less hysterical, but by no means calm. While Julieta sat beside her.

They can’t do anything. There’s no way of tracking down a culprit. It’s too late now.

All they can do is prepare in the remaining months for the baby.

“When you were born,” Julieta says, brushing her fingers through Mirabel’s curls. “We didn’t think you had survived. Your Tío Félix had to pinch you to get some noise. You were always so quiet. Every time you slept, I would have a heart attack because I thought something bad had happened. You were so little; I always wanted to cuddle you. You didn’t care for my smothering.”

Mirabel didn’t say anything.

“Luisa was completely obsessed with you. She use to refer to you as her baby and would hit us for trying to separate you two.” She chuckled slightly then. “Not much has changed. She was definitely your favourite too. You knew what you meant when you said ‘purple’ - the colour, but it was also Luisa. My clever, little girl.”

A pause.

She set her hand against Mirabel’s stomach.

“This is your baby, Mirabel. Not anyone else’s. And you are going to love them, just as much as I loved you and your sisters.”

Another pause.

“¿Mirabel? ¿Qué estás pensando, mi amor?”

Mirabel looked up then.

“No quiero este parásito. No quiero esta sanguijuela. Quiero recuperar mi cuerpo.” She tightened her grip on her pillow. “Quiero morir.”

“Mirabel? What are you thinking, my love?”

Mirabel looked up then.

“I don't want this parasite. I don't want this leech. I want my body back.” She tightened her grip on her pillow. “I want to die.”

Diapers is mostly Bruno’s job while Elena is breastfeeding. I wrote a fic called “Perfecta” where Bruno would often be the one who changes diapers for all the Madrigal babies. One, because he was often up at night anyways. But also because it gave him opportunity to spend time with his sobrinos, without being under the critical gaze of Alma and the villagers. All the Madrigal children took to talking fast, and Bruno likes to think it’s because of his animated talking about Novella ideas during changes.

The twins stay in Bruno and Elena’s room at night til they are one year old, so they can react fast when they cry. But it’s always Bruno who pops up first (Elena has trouble waking, meanwhile Bruno hasn’t known a solid nights sleep in his life). If it’s a diaper he almost always has it, if they are hungry we’ll that’s on Elena. But he does pop down to the kitchen and grabs a drink or snack for Elena to help give her energy while she feeds them
