The statements given in the first episode have to be significant right? And the statement voiced by Martin (or Norris but let’s be real) is? The implications? Are not great? For the jmart girlies (gn)?

„I’m so sorry. I should have listened. I just couldn’t face the thought of the rest of my life never hearing him again, I had to try.”

„It was his voice. It was Arthur’s voice. I know you won’t believe me but he called my name and I know it was his voice. I froze in place.”

„I said the only thing I could think: „Arthur? Is that you?” And that voice I have loved for twenty years answered: “Some of him.”

„I’m afraid Darla and worse, I think it's Arthur I’m afraid of. Or what’s left of him.”

And then let’s remember what Annabelle said in MAG197:

„Jon would lose much of himself, the parts of him that are The Eye. But he would survive. And perhaps more importantly, he would remain who he believes himself to be.”

The implications be implicating

Martin had to try. He couldn’t let Jon do what he intended to in the panopticon, couldn’t let him truly become the pupil and kill the world and himself. Martin took the risk of unleashing the Fears, of cutting the tether. And now they’re somewhere else. But what is left of Jon? What is left of either of them really? Disembodied voices feeding the fears? What did Jon believe himself to be at the panopticon that could be left of him when the Eye was gone? Sometimes it felt like not much. Jon believed himself to be a monster (and others especially in season four didn’t help him much with that belief), after the apocalypse all that guilt was on his shoulders, he became almost entirely reliant on the Eye (remember when he couldn’t See Martin and Melanie had to remind him that he can think on his own?)

So what is Jon now? His voice? What is left of him? And should we be scared of it?

So I'm not 100% sold on the fears are desires theory, but I do think it's interesting, and as I've been relistening to TMA, I noticed this is MAG197.

They're discussing how the majority of the fears don't plan, they don't think of time in a literal sense, and most of them don't really think at all. And then Jon says this...

Just thought it might be interesting to those theorizing about the nature of fear vs desire in TMAGP.
