My first art of 2023 and ofc it’s of this man.
I just did my first play through of DA2 in like 8 or 9 years and remembered how much I love romancing this tragic magic and felt compelled to render his bad postured likeness- which is very difficult as I have a hard time drawing Anders for some reason.
I also like to think he smells like leather and woodsmoke but we all know he smells like feathers and antiseptic.

So you know this party banter between Aveline and Carver?
Aveline: I don't like some of the people you've been associating with, Carver.
Carver: Talk to my brother/sister. He/She's the one in charge.
If you're on the rivalry path with Aveline, she says:
Aveline: Who says I don't mean him/her too? This city's full of people who are dead set on ending badly. I don't want to see you end up the same way.
I just- Aveline, you- you're so- hhhhnnnngggggg
I always rival Aveline when I play a mage, and if you think Edgar Aristide Hawke, who practically raised Carver and Bethany after Malcolm died and Leandra became a distant mother in her grief, wouldn't stop dead in his tracks at Aveline heavily implying he's a bad influence on his brother and Carver shouldn't hang around him so much since apparently Ed's someone set on ending badly...? Absolutely not.
This is another case of me wishing Hawke had the option to jump in during party banter with different options, because Ed would've chewed Aveline out for that.
Oh, and then there's:
Carver: Would asking you to stop spying on me help in the least?
Aveline: No.
Aveline...................stop it.

1) Opens up drafts with my head empty, ready to be flooded, not knowing where I'll go.
2) 30 seconds later: Okay but I will go feral any day of my life over Perilous Trail, and the fierce dichotomy of Xiao and Yelan. While they're far from being 'the same', they both view themselves as soldiers in one way or another (it's a very difficult word to use for Yelan, so I'm using it very liberally and very loosely), they have both suffered losses on the 'battlefield' and carry the burden thereof in their own ways. And yet they stand so firmly in opposition throughout the entirety of that questline up until the very end of the 'the end of the line' conclusion of the quest. Yes, I know that she offers him her gratitude in its aftermath and it is genuine, but she still never agrees with him and the decision that he made moments earlier. It simply 'worked out' because of Zhongli's interference, he's the only reason it worked out. And it's because of that, that she doesn't give him a hell of a hard time (obviously she can't go down there, but imagine the inner frustration of severe extents; when you condemn someone who you can't even see anymore). In the same way that she would do to anyone who would sacrifice themselves for others, but in this case, I think it's 'beautiful' that it's to Xiao; the one who seems most adamant to do so (which honestly, fits into the contract that the Yakshas chose to sign with Morax; 'the ultimate sacrifice' to protect for Liyue; 'for Liyue', and Liyue has always centered itself around its people), the one who everyone reveres (and so does she, as she notes in her voiceline, 'if I ever have the honor to fight alongside') and respects for good reason, she stands against him, because in that moment, regardless of his status, he makes a call that she considers wrong. And he doesn't even... fight her on it very fiercely, and that's what actually hurts me the most, it's as if the following line hit the nail directly on the head?
"Besides, if you were really so determined to end it all, you wouldn't have given us the opportunity to share our opinions."

I really can't get over Simon reframing the chimera incident romantically when he finally verbalizes his love for Baz because, first of all, that's very sexy and unhinged of him.
Also, it actually makes sense? Because during CO Baz tell us that Simon is basically unbeatable, and later he says that Simon is "beautiful in battle". And in a way, Simon truly comes alive when he has something to fight, someone to protect. So when a angsty unhinged Baz who can't decide if he wants to "kiss or push" Simon sends a monster after him to scare him, we can read it as practically flirting, even if that wasn't on anyone's confused disturbed little heads atm, cuz truly a monster send after Simon it's a dead monster. And the fact that Simon wasn't scared and instead fought and emerged victorious? It very likely just made Baz like him even more (and was also what deterred him from pulling that shit again, the crazy and dangerous of it all aside, but also cuz what if it just makes Simon hoter?!!). It's kinda on the same level as Simon going to see all of Baz football practices for them, because "surely he must be pLOTting" when in reality Simon was just very into hot and sweaty Baz destroying everyone else on the field.
By sending a monster after Simon, Baz got to see first hand how beautiful Simon is in battle, and while Simon used this as proof of "Evil Baz" atm we know that in retrospect, and in his own unhinged way, there was a part of him that saw himself fighting to keep Baz safe and unharmed as a confession of romantic love (and with Baz being the one getting them in that situation in the first place, he might have been like "you bitch!!" and "haha this didn't go as u planned!" when the chimera turned on Baz, but a part of him was still like "it's ok, i won't let anything actually harm him/put him in actual danger, no matter what he did" which is line with that part in awtwb where Baz is like "you hated me back then Simon, what are u talking about" and Simon goes "yeah sure but I still wouldn't have let anything hurt u")
And I can't definitely see goofy goth "emo shit" Baz frustrated and confused as hell, like he just wanted to scare a guy and is walking away stunned by his beauty in combat and his bravery and how dare he protected him so well??? Truly he wants him dead. Simon not dying can only be described as punishment for Baz's poor dramatic gay heart,
